CDP works with partners and cities to collect environmental data in order to drive decision making and transition to a low-carbon economy. CDP manages cities' data and makes it available to various partners through data sharing and reporting platforms. This allows partners to work with and support cities using the shared data. CDP also provides tools like city analytics and reports to help cities improve data quality, reduce reporting burdens, and monitor their progress on climate goals.

COP-26 has shown what we have achieved together and what remains to accomplish in order to reach net zero by 2050. Projects are playing a key part in this and will increasingly do so as we go forward.
Martyn considered how engineers, scientists and great project managers can contribute to helping the world reach net zero by 2050. This event reflected on the climate change summit in Glasgow and gave some thoughts about how project professionals can use their expertise to contribute to this vital goal for humanity.

Russian anarchist and anti-war movement in the third year of full-scale warAntti Rautiainen
Anarchist group ANA Regensburg hosted my online-presentation on 16th of May 2024, in which I discussed tactics of anti-war activism in Russia, and reasons why the anti-war movement has not been able to make an impact to change the course of events yet. Cases of anarchists repressed for anti-war activities are presented, as well as strategies of support for political prisoners, and modest successes in supporting their struggles.

Editor's Notes
Present CDP’s overall work in this slide across all themes and stakeholders.
Key points to emphasise:
CDP is an international charity
Cities data is freely available and will always be free
Diagram showing how we work with partners.
1 & 2 – Cities disclose their climate change-related information through CDP information request (which is developed through both in-house expertise and annual consultation with external stakeholders, including GCoM, and cities)
3 – CDP manages the data
4 – Relevant data is transferred to our partners, e.g. GCoM, C40, carbonn Climate Registry
5 – Our partners use the data to work with cities on identifying gaps and building capacity and resilience through various means (technical assistance, research, events)
6 – Cities use this feedback to inform and drive decision making and improve data quality
The data we collect is made available to a wide range of stakeholders
Partners
We currently share data with the following partners
Cities
Cities make use of the tools available to them by participating to CDP
Everyone
Our open data portal provides free and open data for anyone to use.
It contains historically disclosed data since 2013 from cities who disclosed publicly.
Cities’ public responses and research carried out using cities data is also made available.
In 2019, the ICLEI network of cities, towns and regions will only have to report once, on one platform. Details of the partnership will be finalised in the coming months, building on the strengths of both organizations.
ICLEI will continue to support and provide technical assistance to local governments, while CDP and ICLEI will both use the self-reported city data to provide robust analysis of the action being taken by cities across the world.
In 2018, the CDP and carbonn Climate Registry (cCR) platforms will continue to operate as usual. Cities are advised to keep on reporting to both platforms in order to benefit from all the services and functionalities currently made available to you.
Note: Please don’t discourage cities from reporting through cCR.
CDP is one of the reporting platforms for the Global Covenant of Mayors. Currently, there are 3 mechanisms for cities to report and track their progress once they have committed to GCoM.
This gives an overview of the current process for GCoM cities reporting through CDP and outputs of their data – may be most useful for the helpdesk.
CDP carried out extensive feedback with cities, states and regions and custom-built a new platform to meet their needs and the needs of our stakeholders and partners – Global Covenant, C40 and others.
Cities will now only have to fill out one integrated questionnaire to meet their reporting requirements for CDP, C40 and GCoM.
We are also moving towards year-round reporting – whereas before we were tightly tied to cycles because system needed to come down each year for maintenance. We will continue notifying users of data cut-off dates at which point we will take a snapshot of the data for specific uses (e.g. California Summit).
Cities are asked to submit their data through the CDP platform by June 20th this year in order to be included in the Global Covenant report to be launched at the Global Action Summit.
CDP recently released analysis on reporting cities sourcing at least 70% of their electricity from renewable sources, showing that cities across the world are showing that the transition to a low-carbon future is already happening and possible.
CDP’s Cities Analytics is a free tool available to reporting cities and provides analysis and benchmarking based on publicly reported data.
This chart shows the number of cities that reported climate action plans in 2017 and the regional distribution – this data can be broken down further using the tool and exported.
Cities Analytics facilitates best practice sharing by also showing the types of emissions reduction activities cities are carrying out and this data can also be filtered and exported so that cities can learn from each other.
Data from cities reporting through CDP was used towards GCoM reports and outputs, such as the website and analysis released at COP.
You must be a responding city to CDP “Information Request” (deadline?)
all projects reported through the CDP information are then analyzed,
You fill out additional project intake form (no deadline?)

Matchmaker team uploads projects onto dashboard to showcase to investment community
As we roll out Matchmaker and go through our consultation period on disclosure, we are currently focusing on the North American and Latin American markets
All projects in the dashboard have some sort of Sustainability slant in improving resiliency or efficiency: efficiency, waste management, renewable energy or water
We have projects of many different sizes, including a $5b seawall hardening project, as well as $50k outdoor lighting project.
That said, roughly 50% of these projects did not have reported costs the first time around, and we are revisiting these cities to increase the level of disclosure
