This document provides a tutorial on how to measure temperature using NI DAQ cards and LabVIEW while employing cold junction compensation. It outlines the step-by-step procedure to create a global virtual channel to acquire the reference junction temperature, import a calibration table, and measure temperature from a thermocouple while performing real-time CJC. The user is instructed to acquire signals from both the thermocouple and CJC channel, select the appropriate scaling and thermocouple type, and view the compensated temperature measurements on a graph. Performing cold junction compensation helps eliminate errors from temperature fluctuations at the connector where the thermocouple wires are attached to the measuring instrument.
