1. The document presents research on predicting the ultimate shear strength of reinforced concrete deep beams of varying web reinforcement. 2. A new effectiveness coefficient (g) is introduced to understand the contribution of steel reinforcement during failure of deep beams under concentrated loads. 3. Based on a database of experimental beam tests, the proposed model is found to predict shear strength with good correlation, especially for beams with shear strengths over 500 kips.
