Gcse Application In Musical Theatre
And for some unexplainable reason, the crowd goes wild every time.
When dancers kick in unison, in one big wonderful line. (Kirkpatrick Kirkpatrick 2015) It is
definitely hard not to relate my theatergoing experience to this lyrics from Something Rotten!
when I saw it in preview in Spring 2015. The song play spoof on the memorable finale of A
Chorus Line where Brian D Arcy James and Brad Oscar did high kicks with the ensemble
recreating the legendary finale to the 1975 musical. A finale that I believe, loved by many theater
audiences who reacted to it with a long standing ovation. I was one of those audience at the
beginning of this semester. Recalling my first exposure to the glitz and glam of Broadway through

Modern Femininity And Gender Roles
Though Hannah Höch may be a jack of all trades in the art realm having dabbled in painting,
drawing, printmaking, textiles, pattern making, and photography she certainly is a master of
collage. A German artist of the 20th century, Höch is primarily known for her turbulent romantic
relationship with Czech artist Raoul Hausmann, one of the founders of the Berlin Dadamovement.
Hausmann credited himself and Höch as the inventors of photomontage. Höch uses her collages
to comment and critique the unstable sociopolitical state in Germany at the time. Her collages also
highlight the growth of mass media and new technology. Perhaps most importantly, Höch
challenges the concept of modern femininity and gender roles through her work. As the only female
Berlin Dada artist, Hannah Höch takes a unique and important perspective on the social and
political changes occurring in 20th century Germany. Höch was born in 1889 in Gotha, Germany.
She moved to Berlin in 1912 to study calligraphy, embroidery, wallpaper design, and graphic art
(National Museum of Women in the Arts). In 1915, she met Raoul Hausmann, with whom she had
a seven year relationship. From 1916 to 1926, she worked in the handicrafts department of a
magazine and newspaper publishing company. Her work included designing knitting, crocheting,
and embroidering patterns. Later on, she incorporated lace and embroidery patterns in her
photomontages juxtaposing these traditional women s crafts with modern culture. In 1926,

Questions On The Value Of Value
I started exchanging on the February 12, 2015 by purchasing shares in 3 different organizations.
The names of the organizations and the quantity of shares purchased are as per the following:
Pieces of fruit (AAPL) 10 shares @ $483.58 every offer
Cisco Systems (CSCO) 50 shares @$23.01 every offer, and
Micron Technologies (MU) 100shares @ $17.94 every offer.
The reasons these shares were purchased was that they were the top gainers for the day. Taking
after 2 weeks, the estimation of my endeavor rose to $100,101.78. The MU stocks started going
down, i.e. there was a drop in the expense of offer from $17.94 to 17.04. So I sold the shares.
After the class address on February 20, 2015 when we examined utilizing the stock screener, I chose

(FUEL) stocks for $62.44, and Pixel work (PXLW) for $4.87. The reasons I sold these shares were
on the grounds that the costs were falling. How about we take that of AFOP for instance:
purchased the shares @$20.86 for 250 shares for a sum of $5215 barring the commission. After
2 days, the value declined to $18.91, which if reproduced by 250 will square with $4727.5, issuing
me a loss of $487.5 which is a 10.3% misfortune in only 2 days. The same applies to the next 2
organizations.
In the wake of offering the 3 organizations stocks, I chose to purchase the shares of the 3 best
gainers of the day. They incorporate the accompanying: Alliance Asset Management (AAMC)
10 shares@600.00 every offer; Direxion Daily Gold Miners Bull (NUGT) 80 shares@53.43 every
offer; and Petrobas Arg Shs B (PZE) 100 shares@6.0 every offer. Additionally, I sold AREX 120
shares @ 29.51 every offer in light of the fact that the cost was falling.
On the 6th of March, I sold 2 more organizations imparts that I purchased utilizing the stock
screener. These are Edgen Group Inc (EDG) 400 shares@$11.99 and Kandi Technologies Group
(KNDI) 500 shares @$7.10 every offer. The reasons I sold them were the same as others they were
losing cash. Around the same time, I utilized an alternate arrangement

The Delivery Of Law Enforcement
Law enforcement agencies could face severe budget cuts if the nation s economy struggles and
local tax revenues drop. The consequences of spending cuts may cost layoffs, reduced services,
shuttered public facilities and badly needed infrastructure improvements pushed back even further
(Tameez, 2014). The delivery of law enforcement services will fundamentally change as a result of
severe budget cuts. Hundreds of officers in a single policedepartment could be laid off, which
means there will be fewer officers to respond to calls for service. In similar views, federal agencies
must also have a strategic fiscal budget plan in order to deliver their services efficiently and
promptly.
Information sharing between the intelligence community and local law enforcement is crucial
during catastrophic events such as terrorist attacks, natural and man made disasters. When
Hurricane Katrina made landfall in late August of 2005, its destruction caused many deaths and
disruption to the economy. Houston felt Katrina s impact, but we were not badly hit as New
Orleans. Many lessons were learned from Hurricane Katrina and one such example where poor
communication and lack of information sharing between the federal, state and city law
enforcements. It is believed that all levels of government weren t prepared for a catastrophic
incident like Katrina. There were lack of planning and coordination; overlapping of rescue teams
was dispatched to the same location while leaving many other locations

The Democratic And The Republican Parties Dominate...

Government 110
Political Ideology
The Democratic and the Republican parties dominate American politics. They are both different in
their philosophies and ideals. Political parties win elections, operate the government, and determine
public policy. They compete with each other for support of the voters over issues that have to do
with the economy, national security and individual liberties. Political parties determine and make
the important choices that affect our everyday lives. Democratic is liberal and left leaning, the
symbol is a donkey and the representing color is blue. Republican is conservative and right leaning,
the symbol is an elephant and the representing color is red. The three political topics that stick out
to me the most are abortion, gun control, and gay rights/marriage. The Democratic Party was
founded on March 3rd, 1828. The founders of liberal democrats are Thomas Jefferson and James
Madison. They became recognized in the mid nineteenth century. Some popular current democrats
would be President Barack Hussein Obama, former senator and secretary of state Hillary Clinton,
and former president Bill Clinton. The word is a Greek origin meaning ruled by the people. Slave
activists founded Republicans on March 4th, 1854. Some popular republicans today are Ted Cruz
(senator), Orrin Grant Hatch, and John Boehner speaker of the house of reps. The word Republican
originates from the middle French meaning belonging to a republic. One

Reflection Paper On Special Education
For my observation, I was at Randolph Elementary in Ms. Heim s fifth grade class. I spent two
and a half hours, twice a week, for three weeks at Randolph. Throughout my time at Randolph, I
was able to observe many different exceptionalities. Because each of the fifth grade teachers
teach a particular subject, the students rotate between classrooms for instruction. This allowed
me to observe students in two of the classes. I was there during their writing/spelling time. I was
able to observe Ms. Heim s class for an hour a half each day I was there and Ms. Thompson s class
for an hour every day I was there. There were seven students I was able to observe, all with
different exceptionalities. During the first couple days of my observation, I was unable to identify
the students in Ms. Heim s class that had any exceptionalities. It wasn t until one day that Ms.
Heim was gone that I noticed a student, Eddie, had a behaviorproblem. Eddie was acting out and
calling the special educationteachers names because he did not want to go to the resource room
for math. After discussing this with Ms. Heim the next day, I found out that Eddie does not like
change. I also learned that Eddie has an IEP for behavior problems and learning disabilities. Ms.
Heim said Eddie s learning disabilities and behavior problems came from a brain injury when he
was younger and because he has had a very rough childhood. I also learned that when the fifth
grade teachers met before the school year started to

Essay On Your Daughter Dances Flamenco
A red and black swirl, that s how it all started. I remember it like it was yesterday. My mother and
I were standing in line at a frame shop. There was a girl with a black leotard and a red flowy skirt
standing in front of us, with her mother. Your daughter dances Flamenco, right? Where does she
take classes? My mother asked the girl s mother. Next thing I remember, I was in a dancestudio,
staring at a group of dancers who seemed to be flying across the room, all wearing long skirts
and dance shoes. I couldn t take my eyes off of them. I didn t know it right then, but fourteen
years later, I would be able to dance just like any of those dancers I was staring at with dreamy

I can relate dancing to playing in two different ways. The first one, of course, whenever I am
dancing I can certainly feel like I am playing a game. By this I don t mean that I don t take dance
seriously. For the contrary, I enjoy dance to a level where I feel just like when I am playing a
videogame. Each new step I have to learn, represents a new challenge. Once I am able to
correctly perform said step, I have to keep practicing until I can perform it perfectly, then I can
move on to the next step. Once a choreography is complete, we, as dancers, are supposed to
rehearse it over and over again until we feel as confident as we can in order to be able to perform
it in the theatre. Reaching that point for me is like defeating the boss in a Mario Bros. game. One
can say the turtles, owls, and other enemies in the game could be represented by blisters, twisted
ankles, mistakes committed, and some other challenges we may encounter while trying to master a
piece of choreography.
The other way I can relate dance to play, which is kind of the most obvious one, are dance plays.
Last year, I played the role of Anastasia Romanov at the Foro de Arte y Cultura in Guadalajara,

Management Styles In Management
Every person brings a new management style with them to the positions. However, not all
managing styles are effective for a well ran organization with good employees. Some aspects of a
good manager are one who empowers their employees, motivates them, and in today s work
climate protect the staff from bullies. Along with personal issues that managers deal with in
libraries, new technologies are introduced quickly. Managers are responsible for staff training on
the new technology and creating new policies for the technology. Empowerment is one the most
important things that a manager can give to their employee. Sahoo, Behera, and Tripathy found
that employees who feel empowered are happier, do a better job, and they are more loyal to the...

Chang and Jang modified the theory again, in the graph below. (p.75). In this version of the theory
intrinsic and extrinsic valence as well as intrinsic and extrinsic instrumentality is added to the
theory. The study showed that the employees responded well to this motivational style. As a
manager I want to provide my employees with a work environment that is safe from bullies.
Bullying can lead to staff absenteeism, depression, and high employee turnover (). Strong leadership
and clearly defined job descriptions are two things a manager can do to prevent bullying in the
library (). Another thing a manager can do is create an environment where aggressive behavior is
not accepted (). Situations where employees are experiencing heavier than usual workload or if
the organization is restructuring can lead to bullying behaviors. As a manager these are time I
need to be extra vigilant. Postorek, Contacos Sawyer, and Thomas suggest that organizations make
very clear in their policies what constitutes aggressive behavior. Also all staff member will know
the steps in reporting and the disciplining of the bully. An important tip they give is for hiring new
staff members. They suggest that when checking references to ask about aggressive behaviors so

Pros And Cons Of Electronic Communication
Pros and Cons of Electronic communication
There are many species in the world, however, human is the only one who can talk, understand,
think and act according to his own wish. This means human is the only species who can
communicate with other humans. Thus, communication plays a vital part in human life. In simple
terms, communication is effectively interacting with each other. Defining communication, it can be
the process by which people exchange information or express their thoughts and feelings (Longman
Dictionary, 2011). Some of the earlier methods used for communication have been visual and audio
in the form of gestures, sound and pictures/drawings. Technology today has transformed these
sounds and gestures to produce speech, videos, films, posters and theatre. The evolution of different
means has opened up a vast potential for communication (unesco.org).
Discussing the types of communications, the types are verbal and non verbal. Non verbal can
further be classified into oral, written, and sign language. Oral communication can be face to face
or by using the electronic media. The communication done by using electronic medium is called
electronic communication. The type of electronic media available now a days are mobiles, internet,
radio, television, emails, fax etc. These media are in tremendous use in today s world. Emails,
mobiles, internet have become a necessity for living. There is no easy access to things without an

There are different levels of income and consumption in the different areas of China.
Dissimilarities in education, consumption, power, personal habits and tastes lead many
multinational companies to view China as one nation, but certainly not one national market.
While overseas companies focus on the premium market, China s domestic consumer goods
companies compete in principal for middle and low income consumers. Also, the new labor law
introduced in January 2008 has improved labor protection and wage regulations, but most
importantly it has raised China s factory labor cost substantially causing foreign investors in labor
intensive, low margin industries to reconsider their Chinese establishments. China made products
are also put under scrutiny with respect to quality, hygiene and safety problems. In a global
environment, which is driven by trade friction and financial insecurity, these problems may make
it even more politically difficult for China to net result a good year. Antidumping Law According
to China s anti dumping laws many imported products enter China at a price lower than their
actual export value, and actually cause damage, or cause a potential danger, to domestic
enterprises. Labor laws (General Provision 4) 4 Employers shall establish and improve labor rules

Clothes In The Victorian Era
The Victorian Era, was an era of etiquette, manners, clothes, money, social activity and tea parties.
Etiquette, manners, clothes, and money were all the victorian era was about. Men, women, and
children were all different and had different roles in Victorian society. Clothes stated who you
were and how much money you had. Men and women had to dress more appropriate and social,
but children were a tad bit more free clothing choices, to a certain age.
The Victorian Era was an era of the wealthy dressing fancy and going to parties, and poor dressing

Children got to wear almost whatever they wanted, but as long as they dressed appropriate. Men
had more power but they still were expected to dress nice. Women stayed home a lot of times and

Children were a tad freer, clothing matter. They could nearly wear what they wanted and adults

The Death Of Edward II
It was 1307 and Edward I who was sixty eight at the time of his death would now pass the throne
to his son Edward II. Edward II who was Lord of Caernarfon, prince of Wales, duke of Aquitaine,
earl of Chester and count of Pontheiu would now inherit a war with Scotland from his father.
Edward II was rather a particular fellow with unusual hobbies that he showed throughout his
reign. Evidence points that Edward II may have had a relationship with Piers Gaveston, but also
he had been banished from the kingdom by his father Edward I. This incident or should I say
interest in men would become one of the biggest problems throughout all of his reign. Piers
Gaveston was disliked very much by parliament and several times was banished by Edward I
during his reign. Edward II would also come to marry Isabella the daughter of Phillip IV , which
in the end led to the end of his reign, but before we get to that, there was also a man named Hugh
Despenser that would become an affectionate friend for Edward II after Piers Gaveston death.
Piers Gaveston caused much trouble for Lancaster and Warwick. He was hated by them
significantly that in 1312 he was captured and executed by them and it caused much pain for the
king who loved Gaveston much. Edward II losing his best friend and possibly lover was forced to
now rely more on his queen, Isabella, which would prove to improve the relationship of both them
during their brief time reigning together. Isabella loved Edward II very much, but

The Unjust Treatment Of Japanese Americans
The Unjust Treatment of Japanese Americans
A series of unfortunate events would soon unfold on the Japanese American race. Terror and
fear hung over individuals when they were not allowed to do the same things they have done in
the past. It was time to start a new life, in a whole new place, with different people they have not
yet met before. It was the beginning of a new age for the Japanese Americans, and it was also one
they would have to seek through in order to make it to the end. Events started to turn on December
of 1941 where the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. This struck terror on the United States and panic
spread throughout the country. The deepened fear of the Americans caused the relocation of
Japanese Americans to relocate to one of several internment camps. Taking away the Japanese
Americans away from their home, especially when their documents were legalized stating they
were citizens of the United States of America, was a violation of their rights here in the U.S. In a
war where the U.S. bravely fought to preserve liberty, the Japanese American Internmentstands out
immeasurably, as a violation of the civil and human rights of tens of thousands of families.
Disaster first struck on February 19, 1942, where Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Executive
Order 9066 which thereby gathered all the Japanese Americans and relocated them to one of the 10
internment camps (Gruenewald, p 48). A man by the title of General DeWitt, advised Franklin D.

helpful was Study Hall in Cushing Academy.
The same what Study Hall keeps students in their desks from 8:00pm to 10:00 pm, it s a great
method of improving a student s responsibility. When someone is into a routine of doing
something every day at the same time, he gets use to it and sometimes keeps that routine forever.
One of the reasons study hall is done in Cushing is to provide discipline and responsibility to a
student in order to study by your own in College in a near future. It will also make a student keep at
least two hours a day to review and study for college. Keeping time for your studies is a great sign
of responsibility. In many aspects, Study Hall contributes to a great future by providing

Was The 2003 Invasion Of Iraq A Legitimate Humanitarian...
Was the 2003 invasion in Iraq a legitimate humanitarian intervention?
Whether the 2003 invasion in Iraq was a legitimate humanitarian intervention or not, is two folded.
For instance, when viewed in the perspective of protecting the Iraqi citizens from the inhumane
reign that they were subjected to, the invasion can said to be legitimate humanitarian intervention.
On the other hand, when the invasion is seen in terms of its aftermath such as the destruction
caused by it, the unpredictability nature of the war (Lambeth, 2013), and its effect that undermined
the motives or rather the expectations of the Iraqi citizens, since it was associated with mass
killings, then the invasion will not be regarded as a legitimate humanitarian intervention.
The non legitimacy of the humanitarian intervention is evident whereby, the invasion in Iraq by the
US, Great Britain along with other coalition forces turned out to be disastrous. This is because, it
aggravated the humanitarian crisis and also had a major political, military, legal, economic and
strategic consequences. Even though Saddam Hussein did not set any fires to the Iraqi oil fields or
use the alleged weapons related to mass destruction, the war had numerous serious results that
ranged from death along with destruction in Iraq, and also led to regional instability (Wehrey,
2010), despite the fact that itdid not take long.
When it comes to the aggravation of the humanitarian crisis, the war led to population displacement

Application For The Msc Finance At London School Of Economics
My decision to apply for the MSc Finance at London School of Economics arose after a
judicious process where I questioned my career aspirations. The strong interest in financial
markets and its dynamics has matured during my undergraduate studies and my internship at
MOMentum Alternative Investments SA, a Swiss Investment Manager. I would love to start
my career as a sell side analyst, a first step I see in the natural evolution to reach my aspiration to
eventually be a portfolio manager. A deep and precise comprehension of the investment world in
its energetic context can be an essential force to successfully balance risk and reward of a
portfolio, a key element in asset management. I am conscious that the knowledge gained at Royal
Holloway is not enough to fully understand the complexity of today s financial markets and to

Advantages Of Driverless Car
A driverless car or robotic car is a vehicle that is capable of sensing its environment and
navigating without human input. It is known as autonomous car. In May 2017, automated cars
permitted on public roads but not yet fully autonomous since they all require human driver at the
wheel who is ready at a moment s notice to take control of the vehicle. There are many
techniques to detect the surroundings of autonomous cars like radar, GPS, laser light, odometry
(the use of data from motion sensors to estimate change in position over time), and computer
vision. To identify appropriate navigation paths, as well as obstacles and relevant signage,
advanced control systems interpret sensory information. Autonomous cars have control systems
that can analyze sensory data to distinguish between different cars on the road, which is very
useful in planning a path to the desired destination. The levels of autonomy are count from 0 to
5. The 0 level is for no automation. It is a full time performance by the human driver of all
aspects of the dynamic driving task, even when enhanced by warning or intervention systems
such as cars from 20 years ago. For level 1, it is called drive assistance where a driver assists system
of either steering or acceleration or deceleration using information about driving... Show more

What Is The Story Of A Story
Many, many bitter faces were scrutinising me; it looked as though the whole town was there,
observing every shackled step I took. I would never harm one of the Smiths, especially
Elizabeth, she was like the daughter I never had. I had feared the worst when I found her. When I
rushed to her aid my fears became reality. Her cold body, lying in the soft, blood stained grass. Her
lifeless eyes staring blankly into mine.
Perhaps hundreds of people glaring right at me, as I marched slowly towards the front. The
courtroom scared me; I felt isolated. It wasn t the same feeling I got when I went for a morning
walk around town with plenty of white folks acting as if I was an alien. Looking at me in disgust,
sometimes they would even shout racist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A man with an apple like frame slowly approached me, Were you the house slave for the Smiths? he
asked. I slowly nodded. The man roared, Can you speak boy?
Yes sir, I can talk.
Then he grumbled, Tell us what happened on the night of little Elizabeth s death. I answered with
great caution including details about what had happened that dreadful night, although it did not
seem like he nor the large audience believed me.
As I returned to my seat, the man stayed on the floor and stated, A good dog is like a nigger. You
can get to know it, maybe some get to love it, it has no particular use but you keep it because you
think it loves you. Not too long ago a family dog killed the son of the same family. That dog
mauled that boy for no reason. Just got it in his head one day. Same as Marcellus, he may seem
like a gentle giant, however little Elizabeth stays raped and murdered. No criminal history, just the
idea in his head one day to kill.
Jessica, the mother of the Smith family, who was sitting in the front row of the seats, was sobbing
uncontrollably. If it was possible, the crowd became even more hostile than before.
When Eugene took the floor for one last fight for justice, he addressed the crowd with great
emotion, Some negroes lie, some are immoral, some negro men are not to be trusted around women

The World Trade Center Bombing Essay
Following the 1993 World Trade Center Bombing, Rescorla invited Hill to New York, where he
hired him as a security consultant in order to assess the building s security. Although no arrests
had yet been made, Rescorla believed that the bomb had been planted by Muslims. Hill went
undercover in several mosques throughout New Jersey, showing up for morning prayers at dawn.
He took on the character of an anti American Muslim, in order to interview the other visitors to
the mosques. He concluded that the attack was likely planned by a radical imam at a mosque in
New York or New Jersey. Followers of Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, a radical Muslim cleric based
in Brooklyn, were subsequently convicted of the bombing.
Rescorla gained much more credibility and authority after the bombing, which resulted in a change
to the culture of Morgan Stanley, which he believed should have moved out of the building because
he felt that the World Trade Centerwas still a very real target for terrorists. He recommended to his
superiors at Morgan Stanley that the company should leave their Manhattan office space,
mentioning that labor costs were lower in New Jersey and that the firm s employees and
equipment would be safer in a different building. However, this recommendation was not followed
as the company s lease at the World Trade Center was not up until 2006. Due to Rescorla s urging
and persistence, all employees, including senior executives, began practicing emergency

Shooting An Elephant Imperialism
In the story Shooting an Elephant , George Orwell offers a description on both the external and
internal conflicts that he experiences during his service as a police officer in Burma in the 1920s.
The author s main objective in the story is to present a vivid picture about his living conditions in
Burma. He also expresses his discontentment about the British Empirein regards to their
imperialism policies that they were imposing on the people of Burma. The story revolves around
three themes that is a feeling of displeasure between the Burmese natives and the British, Orwell s
pressure feelings and imperialism resentment. According to Orwell, both the conquered and
conqueror are annihilated in the event of imperialism. While working under the British command
system in Burma, his personal experience makes him to criticize the evils that were an associate
of imperialism. Explicitly, the author stands with the Burmese people since they are most affected
by the oppressions of the colonial rule. As a police officer he shares about the brutalities that are

officer who was a representative of the imperial power. The people of Burma were averse on the

resentment of the Burmese on Orwell, his stand on supporting the Burma people was restrained.

Kitchen Ware Essay
Literature review
It is important to understand the consumer and their consumption practice/ pattern to deliver any
good or service. The key concept of marketing is customer centricity, we cannot ignore different
processes in decision making. Understanding the process in making those decisions is central
(Blackwell, R.D., Miniard, P.W. and Engel, J.F. (2001)). Lakeland with its new rage and different
products in the Indian market is one of the challenges that needs to be solved. The kitchen ware
involved in the cooking practices of an Indian consumer is different compared to the UK. Though
the practice have evolved from using traditional kitchen ware to modern kitchen ware, consumers
need to me made aware of such. India being a country with diverse religion and culture, the
consumption habits of each individual is different as compared to the other culture. One of the
common difference in the cooking practices as compared to western culture is the use of different
and traditional kitchen ware such as clay pots and vessels. There are different theories that help
underrated the different consumption habits, In this case practice theory best explains the process.
Practice theory can play a major role in understanding the consumption habits and to also understand
the current cultural habits. As Randles and Warde( 2006) describe consumption as a habit, routine,
constraints, and so on and can be summed up as a recognition of the conventional nature of

Lessons Learned From the Massacre at Wounded Knee Essays
Introduction
The massacre at Wounded Knee was the last action in a long and bloody war that pitted Native
American Indians against U.S Military forces. For roughly 300 years the two sides had been in
constant conflict across America in a battle for land, resources, and ultimately; freedom. This final
massacre solidified the American hold on the west and closed the final chapter on a way of life
that can never be brought back. Lakota Indians, having learned of the death of Sitting Bull started to
move towards Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in hopes of finding protection from Red Cloud.
However, the harsh South Dakota winter weather had different plans, causing Chief Big Foot to

In 1841, that myth was shatter when a group of sixty nine people moving towards California and
Oregon entered into Lakota lands and passed through unscathed. Once word arrived back east of
the their success, people started to jump on wagon trains and venture west for land and
prosperity. During the time period from 1841 1848 the Lakota never bothered any of the settlers
passing through, even though they were carving roads over the grasslands and killing buffalo in
the area. 3 The discovery of gold in California changed all of that. Starting in 1848, the stream of
settlers became a raging river and in 1850 nearly fifty five thousand people crossed through
Lakota lands via the Overland Trail. 4 The Lakota did nothing even though increasing numbers of
settlers along with their cattle were starting to decimate the prairie grasslands as they passed
through on their way westward. The final issue that led the Lakota to push the settlers out of their
lands was that of disease. The Native Americans had never been exposed to Asian cholera,
smallpox, and the measles. European settlers brought these with them as they traveled west and
infected Lakota causing many of them to experience horrible fevers and suffering before dying
without any way of being helped. 5 The Fort Laramie Treaty of 1851 guaranteed sovereignty to the
Lakota as long as they allowed settlers to pass through on the Oregon Trail unharmed.6 At this
point, the Lakota had enough and decided to take

A Brief Note On Lyme Disease And How It Affects The Body
I am going to be writing my essay on Lyme disease, because I ve always heard about this disease
but I never really understood exactly what it was. I am one of the many people out there that are
still unaware and confused about what Lyme disease really is and how it affects the body and is
very interested in learning more. By researching more about what Lyme diseaseis I believe it would
give me much more insight about the disease. This essay is a great opportunity for me to get
educated and learn more about the disease and how it affects millions of people throughout the
world. Lyme disease a genuinely normal illness that goes misdiagnosed in several cases
throughout the United States. There are numerous misguided judgments about the infection. The
ailment represents ninety percent of infectious diseases in the United States from 1980 to 1998
with around 112,000 cases have been accounted for from the forty nine states. (Geographic
Distribution and Expansion of Human Lyme Disease, 2015). The main express that has not
reported a case governmentally is Montana. Since not everybody reports the cases the check
would probably be thirteen to fifteen times higher. One study appraises the genuine tally of Lyme
illness cases to be around one and a half to two million. Lyme disease is a bacterial contamination
brought on by a spirochete called the Borrelia burgdoferi. It was named after the man who found it

Dynamic Performance Measures performed by Pearcey et.al studied the effectiveness of foam
rolling on decreasing delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). DOMS can contribute greatly to
the discomfort that a physically active person experiences after an intense workout. According to
Pearcey et. al (2015) the intensity of DOMS increases within the first twenty four hours post
exercise, peaks between forty eight and seventy two hours, and subsides and eventually disappears
in five to seven days. The study was conducted using eight men in their early twenties. The study
used a repeated measure design method to test the effectiveness of foam rolling the muscles of the
lower extremities. The study tested the following variables, pressure pain threshold of the quads,
thirty meter sprint speed, broad jump distance, change of direction speed, and dynamic strength
endurance after preforming the DOMS protocol. The DOMS protocol consist of 10x10 squats. All
participants in the study were both the experimental and control groups. The sessions were
separated by four weeks; the sessions were randomly assigned to the participants. The testing
sessions included an orientation with 1RM squat and practice of each test, followed by four
conditions four weeks apart. The participants warmed up on the cycle ergometer then completed the
DOMS protocol. Data was analyzed using magnitude based inferences. Baker et.al

President Wilson s righteous views of his efforts were so strong that not even the advice and urging
of his closest confidants could sway his stance. While it is true that opposition forces helped to
defeat the treaty, it was ultimately Wilson s stubbornness that led to its defeat in the Senate.
There were many factors that led to the initial outbreak of World War I in Europe. A constant

many alliances between European nations. For the most part, these agreements stipulated that the

Comparing Frankenstein And The Fairie Queene
Studying literature is in great part about analyzing the work. Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley gives the
power of literacy to the monster in her novel Frankenstein to humanize him as well as to equip him
with a moral compass which would have been difficult for him to pick up on otherwise. The
treasure of literature for Frankensteins monster includes John Milton s Paradise Lostto bring into
question the role of the creator and creation as seen in God and man and Frankenstein and his
seemingly horrific figure, while the use of Edmund Spenser s The Fairie Queene could have been
used to underline the difference between right and wrong.

In Book 3 of the epic, Milton highlights that God created Adam as, sufficient to have stood, but
free to fall (Norton 1989). God places the blame on Adam for the punishment of man. The monster
reading this literally, without analysis and who was also made in his creator s image then has no
choice but to assume that he is also being punished.
Shelley s humanization of the monster lies in his imperfection and makes the reader question just
why he has been cast aside by humanity. If the reader accepts the fall of man as punishment, for
Adam and Eve s mistake they can see that the monster s creation itself is not for him to be
punished, but for Frankenstein. The monster s understanding of his place because of his outward

It is fantasy based movie, inspired by the Rocky movies. However, it is possible that the story
could have happened or is happening to a real person due to the issues presented throughout the

Stallone who had no interest in wasting his time teaching him boxing. But after a while, he agreed

himself. He would not have to worry about anyone but himself. He travels with Lennie, and we
often find him telling Lennie how much better off he could be without him. One simple reaction
to Lennie sets George off on a rant enough to say, God a mighty, if I was alone I could live so
easy. I could go get a job an work, an no trouble. No mess at all, and when the end of the month
come I could take my fifty bucks and go into town and get whatever I want. Why, I could stay in
a cathouse all night. I could eat any place I want, hotel or any place, and order any damn thing I

room and play cards or shoot pool... An whatta I got ... I got you! You can t keep a job and you
lose me ever job I get. Jus keep me shovin all over the country all the time. (Steinbeck 12) This is

Lennie is George s responsibility. George views Lennie as a brother, friend, and partner in crime.
Without Lennie, George is lonely but he knows that he saves Lennie from his own personal

I decided I would start with her work and then see what the critics had to say.
Her book s The House on Mango Street and Loose Woman: Poems enthralled me the most, and
gave me a sense of her genre and style. They portrayed her concentration on culture or ethninticity
and gender issues. A Stanza from her poem Loose Woman really tickled my fancy and is an
excellent representation of these two themes: They say I m macha, hell on wheels, viva la vulva,
fire and brimstone, man hating, devastating, boogey woman lesbian. Not necessarily, but I like the
compliment. ( 112)
In this poem Cisneros displays a common stereotype of women in a satirical way that is easy to
identify with, and in a sense empowers women rather than degrading them. In doing this, she keeps
her cultural heritage by using both English, and her own native language, Spanish to define her
views. She maintains this sort of style throughout her poems and pursues gender issues and cultural
identity with ferocious vitality and purpose.
Although she does not use written Spanish in The house on Mango Street, her characters are
Mexican and represent the culture in their lifestyles, views, and upbringing. The story depicts the
coming of age of a girl named Esperanza, who is searching for stability and a place for herself in
the world. Cisneros explores the life of a Mexican girl and the things that shaped her morality and

through words. The extremes of the war were felt by all, although some felt the cruelty the war
more than others. Men from many different walks of life and men from different sides of the war
all had their souls tried by this war. Some of the men, who joined the Colonial Army, could not take
these trials once the going got tough. When the war started in the summer of 1776, the Army was
doing well with the victory of Boston behind them, and with the excitement of defending Manhattan
in the future, many men joined the Colonial Army. When the Americans lost New York, started to
retreat through New Jersey, and the weather turned rainy, the number of men in the Colonial Army
started to drop significantly. Men were deserting or waiting until their enlistments were up and then
would not re enlist (McCullough 249). These numbers dropped even farther once the weather
turned poor when the rain and snow came (McCullough 81). This shows precisely what Paine
meant by his second statement in The American Crisis, The summer soldier and the sunshine
patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country... All the men of the war were
suffering, but the men who stuck it out even in the hardest of

Jazz Music Analysis
This week s lecture on jazz music was both informative and interesting. Dr Louise Jenson raised
many thought provoking topics, that both built on and challenged my understanding of the genre.
Prior to the lecture, I had my own preconceptions of what jazz is and isn t, and I am pleased to say
that my mindset has broadened after listening to Louise speak. The examples that were shown and
referred to in the lecture immediately painted a picture of just how comprehensive the jazzgenre can
be, and demonstrated the current challenges of defining jazz. Based on the content of both the
lecture and the reading, I think that the history of jazz is relevant to understanding jazz as a genre,
however I believe that it is also important to acknowledge that

Comparison Between The Bacchae and The Medea
In Euripides The Bacchae and in the Medea, there are significant binary oppositions in both
plays. Binary opposition is the two opposite terms, such as good versus bad. Binary opposition is
used to present both sides of a contrast (Marvin, 1). In The Bacchae and the Medea, Euripides used
binary opposition to highlight the central themes. The significant binary oppositions that are used
are men versus women, foreigner versus citizen, and god versus man. The contrast between men
versus women is an important opposition in both plays. The women in the Greek society have no
control of their life; the men are in control (Barlow 159). In The BacchaeDionysusunderminded the
Greek society point view on women and empowers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The binary opposition of man versus woman starts off strong, but Euripides switches the roles in
both plays. In The Bacchae the woman worship Dionysus. Pentheus disguises himself as a
woman, and goes off to view the women in the mountains, which is Dionysus plan the whole
time. Pentheus dresses up as a woman and admits to wanting to see the women up at the
mountains, and this goes against Pentheus anger at the beginning of the play (Bacchae 813 814).
In the end of the play the women overpower Pentheus and destroy him to pieces (Bacchae 1125
1140). This is an example of the women being controlling of their own actions and being
stronger than the men. In Medea the stereotype of the man and the woman switch. Medea is no
longer going to sit around and let every man walk all over her; she states in her speech that she
will take revenge on everybody that caused her misery (Medea 364 409). Barlow emphasizes on
the reversal of the stereotype, stating that Medea, is a woman, moreover, who simply refuses to
any longer to accept at any rate Greek female stereotypes unless to use them with calculation to
gain her own immediate ends (158). Medea reversing the stereotype is the reversal of man
controlling the woman, and this shows that woman as well have the power to control their own life.
Euripides also highlights how

The Origin Of Electricity And Magnetism
The Origin of Electricity and Magnetism
This paper is mainly about the origin and discoveries of electricity and magnetism. It is solely a
summary of two natural phenomenon which have changed everything about our way of life and
has ushered us into a remarkable new age.
First and foremost, it is about the fundamental idea of how electricity and magnetism came about,
then, the development and discoveries of sources of electricity and magnetism by many inventors
and the latter discoveries of mega production.
When I was a little boy, I used to wonder what causes lightning and thunder. When rain comes, I
sometimes see intermittent lightning for a while before you can hear the sound of a spark which is
like two short circuited power cables.
At school, we all learnt about matter, which consists of atoms and molecules and every atom has a
nucleus and electron(s), inside the nucleus contains an equal number of protons and neutrons. The
electrons revolve round the nucleus of the atom in order to keep it stable. Protons are positively
charged particles, neutrons are neutral and electrons are negative charge particles. The nucleus is
surrounded by shells; these are simply orbitals in which an electron(s) can be found. The number
of orbitals depends on how many electrons the atom has. The electrons which are in the outer most
orbitals have a tendency of being lost or shared by another atom in order to create a more stable
configuration.

What Are The Importance Of Religion In Ancient Civilization
Throughout the history of civilization, religion has played a predominant role in shaping the
identities of each civilization. Requiring the act of people coming together in one place like never
before in history, religion has brought divine or spiritual significance to many ancient civilizations
by providing a society a secular idea that they will follow based on what they believe in. Many
historians focus on the tangible foundations of a civilization, religionhas aid in bringing these
foundations by envisioning possibilities taking a societies physical needs beyond explanation, such
as the Great Pyramids or Macchu Picchu. Ranging from the Andes into the barring plains of
Mesopotamia, examining the religions of Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Mesoamerica, specifically the
Mayans, and how their views on the afterlife shaped their culture and development. The first

4000 B.C. by the Sumerian people, Mesopotamia was the birthplace of religion. They believed in a
polytheistic belief system focusing on anthropomorphic gods. Each city had its own patron diet
with specific occupations that managed different aspects of their hostile environment. To worship
these deities, the society of Mesopotamia built large stepped platform structures made from bricks
called Ziggurats, that was to house the patron gods. As a result, as the Mesopotamia civilization
developed so did the religion. Many

(Kirkpatrick Kirkpatrick 2015) It is definitely hard not to relate my theatergoing experience to this lyrics from Something Rotten! when I saw it in preview in Spring 2015. The song play spoof on the memorable finale of A Chorus Line where Brian D Arcy James and Brad Oscar did high kicks with the ensemble recreating the legendary finale to the 1975 musical. • 3. Modern Femininity And Gender Roles Though Hannah HГ¶ch may be a jack of all trades in the art realm having dabbled in painting, drawing, printmaking, textiles, pattern making, and photography she certainly is a master of collage. A German artist of the 20th century, HГ¶ch is primarily known for her turbulent romantic relationship with Czech artist Raoul Hausmann, one of the founders of the Berlin Dadamovement. Hausmann credited himself and HГ¶ch as the inventors of photomontage. HГ¶ch uses her collages to comment and critique the unstable sociopolitical state in Germany at the time. Her collages also highlight the growth of mass media and new technology. Perhaps most importantly, HГ¶ch challenges the concept of modern femininity and gender roles through her work. As the only female Berlin Dada artist, Hannah HГ¶ch takes a unique and important perspective on the social and political changes occurring in 20th century Germany. HГ¶ch was born in 1889 in Gotha, Germany. She moved to Berlin in 1912 to study calligraphy, embroidery, wallpaper design, and graphic art (National Museum of Women in the Arts). In 1915, she met Raoul Hausmann, with whom she had a seven year relationship. From 1916 to 1926, she worked in the handicrafts department of a magazine and newspaper publishing company. Her work included designing knitting, crocheting, and embroidering patterns. Later on, she incorporated lace and embroidery patterns in her photomontages juxtaposing these traditional women s crafts with modern culture. In 1926, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The names of the organizations and the quantity of shares purchased are as per the following: Pieces of fruit (AAPL) 10 shares @ $483.58 every offer Cisco Systems (CSCO) 50 shares @$23.01 every offer, and Micron Technologies (MU) 100shares @ $17.94 every offer. The reasons these shares were purchased was that they were the top gainers for the day. Taking after 2 weeks, the estimation of my endeavor rose to $100,101.78. The MU stocks started going down, i.e. there was a drop in the expense of offer from $17.94 to 17.04. So I sold the shares. After 2 days, the value declined to $18.91, which if reproduced by 250 will square with $4727.5, issuing me a loss of $487.5 which is a 10.3% misfortune in only 2 days. • 5. The Delivery Of Law Enforcement Law enforcement agencies could face severe budget cuts if the nation s economy struggles and local tax revenues drop. The consequences of spending cuts may cost layoffs, reduced services, shuttered public facilities and badly needed infrastructure improvements pushed back even further (Tameez, 2014). The delivery of law enforcement services will fundamentally change as a result of severe budget cuts. Hundreds of officers in a single policedepartment could be laid off, which means there will be fewer officers to respond to calls for service. In similar views, federal agencies must also have a strategic fiscal budget plan in order to deliver their services efficiently and promptly. Information sharing between the intelligence community and local law enforcement is crucial during catastrophic events such as terrorist attacks, natural and man made disasters. When Hurricane Katrina made landfall in late August of 2005, its destruction caused many deaths and disruption to the economy. Houston felt Katrina s impact, but we were not badly hit as New Orleans. Many lessons were learned from Hurricane Katrina and one such example where poor communication and lack of information sharing between the federal, state and city law enforcements. It is believed that all levels of government weren t prepared for a catastrophic incident like Katrina. • 6. The Democratic And The Republican Parties Dominate... Ramesha Wembley Government 110 Political Ideology The Democratic and the Republican parties dominate American politics. They are both different in their philosophies and ideals. Political parties win elections, operate the government, and determine public policy. They compete with each other for support of the voters over issues that have to do with the economy, national security and individual liberties. Political parties determine and make the important choices that affect our everyday lives. Democratic is liberal and left leaning, the symbol is a donkey and the representing color is blue. Republican is conservative and right leaning, the symbol is an elephant and the representing color is red. The three political topics that stick out to me the most are abortion, gun control, and gay rights/marriage. The Democratic Party was founded on March 3rd, 1828. The founders of liberal democrats are Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. They became recognized in the mid nineteenth century. Some popular current democrats would be President Barack Hussein Obama, former senator and secretary of state Hillary Clinton, and former president Bill Clinton. The word is a Greek origin meaning ruled by the people. Slave activists founded Republicans on March 4th, 1854. Some popular republicans today are Ted Cruz (senator), Orrin Grant Hatch, and John Boehner speaker of the house of reps. The word Republican originates from the middle French meaning belonging to a republic. One ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Reflection Paper On Special Education For my observation, I was at Randolph Elementary in Ms. Heim s fifth grade class. I spent two and a half hours, twice a week, for three weeks at Randolph. Throughout my time at Randolph, I was able to observe many different exceptionalities. Because each of the fifth grade teachers teach a particular subject, the students rotate between classrooms for instruction. This allowed me to observe students in two of the classes. I was there during their writing/spelling time. I was able to observe Ms. Heim s class for an hour a half each day I was there and Ms. Thompson s class for an hour every day I was there. There were seven students I was able to observe, all with different exceptionalities. During the first couple days of my observation, I was unable to identify the students in Ms. Heim s class that had any exceptionalities. It wasn t until one day that Ms. Heim was gone that I noticed a student, Eddie, had a behaviorproblem. Eddie was acting out and calling the special educationteachers names because he did not want to go to the resource room for math. After discussing this with Ms. Heim the next day, I found out that Eddie does not like change. I also learned that Eddie has an IEP for behavior problems and learning disabilities. Ms. Heim said Eddie s learning disabilities and behavior problems came from a brain injury when he was younger and because he has had a very rough childhood. • 9. Essay On Your Daughter Dances Flamenco A red and black swirl, that s how it all started. I remember it like it was yesterday. My mother and I were standing in line at a frame shop. There was a girl with a black leotard and a red flowy skirt standing in front of us, with her mother. Your daughter dances Flamenco, right? Where does she take classes? My mother asked the girl s mother. Next thing I remember, I was in a dancestudio, staring at a group of dancers who seemed to be flying across the room, all wearing long skirts and dance shoes. I couldn t take my eyes off of them. I didn t know it right then, but fourteen years later, I would be able to dance just like any of those dancers I was staring at with dreamy eyes. Practicing dance, preparing dance plays and performances... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I can relate dancing to playing in two different ways. The first one, of course, whenever I am dancing I can certainly feel like I am playing a game. By this I don t mean that I don t take dance seriously. For the contrary, I enjoy dance to a level where I feel just like when I am playing a videogame. Each new step I have to learn, represents a new challenge. Once I am able to correctly perform said step, I have to keep practicing until I can perform it perfectly, then I can move on to the next step. Once a choreography is complete, we, as dancers, are supposed to rehearse it over and over again until we feel as confident as we can in order to be able to perform it in the theatre. Reaching that point for me is like defeating the boss in a Mario Bros. game. One can say the turtles, owls, and other enemies in the game could be represented by blisters, twisted ankles, mistakes committed, and some other challenges we may encounter while trying to master a piece of choreography. The other way I can relate dance to play, which is kind of the most obvious one, are dance plays. Last year, I played the role of Anastasia Romanov at the Foro de Arte y Cultura in Guadalajara, Mexico. At some points it did, in fact, feel like I was playing pretend. I wore a costume that looked exactly like what Anastasia wore in the animated movie and dyed my hair copper. Of course, I watched the movie probably a hundred times trying to ... However, not all managing styles are effective for a well ran organization with good employees. Some aspects of a good manager are one who empowers their employees, motivates them, and in today s work climate protect the staff from bullies. Along with personal issues that managers deal with in libraries, new technologies are introduced quickly. Managers are responsible for staff training on the new technology and creating new policies for the technology. Empowerment is one the most important things that a manager can give to their employee. Bullying can lead to staff absenteeism, depression, and high employee turnover (). Edward II who was Lord of Caernarfon, prince of Wales, duke of Aquitaine, earl of Chester and count of Pontheiu would now inherit a war with Scotland from his father. Edward II was rather a particular fellow with unusual hobbies that he showed throughout his reign. Evidence points that Edward II may have had a relationship with Piers Gaveston, but also he had been banished from the kingdom by his father Edward I. This incident or should I say interest in men would become one of the biggest problems throughout all of his reign. Piers Gaveston was disliked very much by parliament and several times was banished by Edward I during his reign. Edward II would also come to marry Isabella the daughter of Phillip IV , which in the end led to the end of his reign, but before we get to that, there was also a man named Hugh Despenser that would become an affectionate friend for Edward II after Piers Gaveston death. Piers Gaveston caused much trouble for Lancaster and Warwick. He was hated by them significantly that in 1312 he was captured and executed by them and it caused much pain for the king who loved Gaveston much. Terror and fear hung over individuals when they were not allowed to do the same things they have done in the past. It was the beginning of a new age for the Japanese Americans, and it was also one they would have to seek through in order to make it to the end. Events started to turn on December of 1941 where the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. This struck terror on the United States and panic spread throughout the country. The deepened fear of the Americans caused the relocation of Japanese Americans to relocate to one of several internment camps. Taking away the Japanese Americans away from their home, especially when their documents were legalized stating they were citizens of the United States of America, was a violation of their rights here in the U.S. In a war where the U.S. bravely fought to preserve liberty, the Japanese American Internmentstands out immeasurably, as a violation of the civil and human rights of tens of thousands of families. Disaster first struck on February 19, 1942, where Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Executive Order 9066 which thereby gathered all the Japanese Americans and relocated them to one of the 10 internment camps (Gruenewald, p 48). Whether the 2003 invasion in Iraq was a legitimate humanitarian intervention or not, is two folded. For instance, when viewed in the perspective of protecting the Iraqi citizens from the inhumane reign that they were subjected to, the invasion can said to be legitimate humanitarian intervention. On the other hand, when the invasion is seen in terms of its aftermath such as the destruction caused by it, the unpredictability nature of the war (Lambeth, 2013), and its effect that undermined the motives or rather the expectations of the Iraqi citizens, since it was associated with mass killings, then the invasion will not be regarded as a legitimate humanitarian intervention. The non legitimacy of the humanitarian intervention is evident whereby, the invasion in Iraq by the US, Great Britain along with other coalition forces turned out to be disastrous. This is because, it aggravated the humanitarian crisis and also had a major political, military, legal, economic and strategic consequences. Even though Saddam Hussein did not set any fires to the Iraqi oil fields or use the alleged weapons related to mass destruction, the war had numerous serious results that ranged from death along with destruction in Iraq, and also led to regional instability (Wehrey, 2010), despite the fact that itdid not take long. I entered the library to escape the weather and lose myself in books about Sandra Ciseneros and the characters she creates in her poems and stories. I began my search at a computer resource station, and then absorbed myself in the materials it provided, which were biographies, criticisms, and the works of Cisneros. Initially, the computer resource station provided me only with Cisnero s texts or simple the books she had written. They were all listed in the card catalogue, and I was reassured that if the library had her books, than they had to have biographies and criticisms on her as well.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I decided I would start with her work and then see what the critics had to say. Her book s The House on Mango Street and Loose Woman: Poems enthralled me the most, and gave me a sense of her genre and style. They portrayed her concentration on culture or ethninticity and gender issues. A Stanza from her poem Loose Woman really tickled my fancy and is an excellent representation of these two themes: They say I m macha, hell on wheels, viva la vulva, fire and brimstone, man hating, devastating, boogey woman lesbian. Not necessarily, but I like the compliment. ( 112) In this poem Cisneros displays a common stereotype of women in a satirical way that is easy to identify with, and in a sense empowers women rather than degrading them. In doing this, she keeps her cultural heritage by using both English, and her own native language, Spanish to define her views. She maintains this sort of style throughout her poems and pursues gender issues and cultural identity with ferocious vitality and purpose. • 42. The Pen Of Thomas Paine These are the times that try men s souls. Rarely have there been as powerful and as meaningful words as these from the pen of Thomas Paine. Paine was one of the many men who experienced the harsh effects of the war. The war was deadly, more deadly than ever could be expressed through words. The extremes of the war were felt by all, although some felt the cruelty the war more than others. Men from many different walks of life and men from different sides of the war all had their souls tried by this war. Some of the men, who joined the Colonial Army, could not take these trials once the going got tough. When the war started in the summer of 1776, the Army was doing well with the victory of Boston behind them, and with the excitement of defending Manhattan in the future, many men joined the Colonial Army. When the Americans lost New York, started to retreat through New Jersey, and the weather turned rainy, the number of men in the Colonial Army started to drop significantly. Men were deserting or waiting until their enlistments were up and then would not re enlist (McCullough 249). These numbers dropped even farther once the weather turned poor when the rain and snow came (McCullough 81). This shows precisely what Paine meant by his second statement in The American Crisis, The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country... Prior to the lecture, I had my own preconceptions of what jazz is and isn t, and I am pleased to say that my mindset has broadened after listening to Louise speak. The examples that were shown and referred to in the lecture immediately painted a picture of just how comprehensive the jazzgenre can be, and demonstrated the current challenges of defining jazz. Based on the content of both the lecture and the reading, I think that the history of jazz is relevant to understanding jazz as a genre, however I believe that it is also important to acknowledge that ... • 46. Comparison Between The Bacchae and The Medea In Euripides The Bacchae and in the Medea, there are significant binary oppositions in both plays. Binary opposition is the two opposite terms, such as good versus bad. Binary opposition is used to present both sides of a contrast (Marvin, 1). In The Bacchae and the Medea, Euripides used binary opposition to highlight the central themes. The significant binary oppositions that are used are men versus women, foreigner versus citizen, and god versus man. The contrast between men versus women is an important opposition in both plays. The women in the Greek society have no control of their life; the men are in control (Barlow 159). In The BacchaeDionysusunderminded the Greek society point view on women and empowers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The binary opposition of man versus woman starts off strong, but Euripides switches the roles in both plays. In The Bacchae the woman worship Dionysus. Pentheus disguises himself as a woman, and goes off to view the women in the mountains, which is Dionysus plan the whole time. Pentheus dresses up as a woman and admits to wanting to see the women up at the mountains, and this goes against Pentheus anger at the beginning of the play (Bacchae 813 814). In the end of the play the women overpower Pentheus and destroy him to pieces (Bacchae 1125 1140). This is an example of the women being controlling of their own actions and being stronger than the men. In Medea the stereotype of the man and the woman switch. Medea is no longer going to sit around and let every man walk all over her; she states in her speech that she will take revenge on everybody that caused her misery (Medea 364 409). Barlow emphasizes on the reversal of the stereotype, stating that Medea, is a woman, moreover, who simply refuses to any longer to accept at any rate Greek female stereotypes unless to use them with calculation to gain her own immediate ends (158). Medea reversing the stereotype is the reversal of man controlling the woman, and this shows that woman as well have the power to control their own life. Euripides also highlights how ... • 50. The Origin Of Electricity And Magnetism The Origin of Electricity and Magnetism This paper is mainly about the origin and discoveries of electricity and magnetism. It is solely a summary of two natural phenomenon which have changed everything about our way of life and has ushered us into a remarkable new age. First and foremost, it is about the fundamental idea of how electricity and magnetism came about, then, the development and discoveries of sources of electricity and magnetism by many inventors and the latter discoveries of mega production. When I was a little boy, I used to wonder what causes lightning and thunder. When rain comes, I sometimes see intermittent lightning for a while before you can hear the sound of a spark which is like two short circuited power cables. At school, we all learnt about matter, which consists of atoms and molecules and every atom has a nucleus and electron(s), inside the nucleus contains an equal number of protons and neutrons. The electrons revolve round the nucleus of the atom in order to keep it stable. Protons are positively charged particles, neutrons are neutral and electrons are negative charge particles. The nucleus is surrounded by shells; these are simply orbitals in which an electron(s) can be found. The number of orbitals depends on how many electrons the atom has. The electrons which are in the outer most orbitals have a tendency of being lost or shared by another atom in order to create a more stable configuration. Long before any knowledge of electricity ...
