The Cask Of Amontillado Analysis Essay
Crafting an essay on the analysis of "The Cask of Amontillado" may pose a considerable
challenge, given the intricate layers and nuances embedded within Edgar Allan Poe's short story.
To undertake such a task successfully, one must navigate through the complex themes, character
motivations, and literary devices employed by Poe to convey his narrative.
The story itself is a psychological exploration of revenge, betrayal, and the descent into madness.
Unraveling the motivations of the characters, particularly Montresor and Fortunato, requires a
keen understanding of human psychology and the ability to dissect the subtleties in Poe's
writing. Additionally, delving into the historical and cultural context of the narrative can add
depth to the analysis, as Poe often weaves his tales with elements of the macabre and Gothic
tradition.
The task is further compounded by the need for a nuanced examination of the symbolism and
imagery present in the text. Poe, known for his mastery in crafting vivid and symbolic imagery,
challenges the essay writer to decipher the hidden meanings behind every brick in the catacombs
and every nuance in the characters' interactions.
Moreover, an effective analysis demands a comprehensive exploration of the narrative structure,
pacing, and stylistic choices made by Poe. The essayist must carefully navigate through the
suspenseful build-up, the climactic revelation, and the lingering sense of horror that permeates
the story. Attention to detail and a keen eye for literary devices such as irony, foreshadowing,
and symbolism are imperative to capture the essence of Poe's craft.
In conclusion, tackling a "The Cask of Amontillado" analysis essay is a formidable task that
requires a deep understanding of literature, psychology, and Poe's unique storytelling techniques.
However, with dedication, careful analysis, and a meticulous approach, one can unlock the
layers of this classic short story and present a compelling and insightful essay.

City Of Glass Graphic Book Analysis
City of Glass the novel written by Paul Auster and its comic adaptation by Paul
Karasik and David Mazzucchelli have ways that they are the same and ways they
are different. The part of both books I am going to focus on is from the time the
main character, William Wilson a.k.a Quinn, goes to the train station to keep an eye
on the elderly Peter Stillman on behalf of Virginia Stillman to the time where Quinn
loses sight of Peter Stillman. There are several similarities as well as differences that
I saw in this interval of time. Ultimately, the graphic noveldoes stand alone as a story;
however, as it routinely leaves out content as well as making other changes, it makes
an effect on the readers that is different than the effect the original... Show more

The thing to note in both of these situations is that the graphic novel just makes
implications, while the original novel gives more explanations. This is because
the essence of a novel is different than the essence of a graphic novel. So far, and as
readers will see later, the original City of Glass novel is more detailed, but detail is
not always needed. The problem arises when a story leaves out something that is
essential to understanding what is going on. Before I go into how the graphic novel
leaves out detail, I want to talk about a few more instances where the novel and the
graphic novel are roughly equal in their storytelling so that when I describe the
graphic novel s flaws, it will be easier to understand. There are a few times when this
happens: when Quinn is hesitant as to which Stillman to follow, and when Quinn
follows the Stillman to the hotel. These occurrences that happen both in the novel
and graphic novel are conveyed in a satisfactory manner. The first big difference we
see is implied. The original novel describes that Quinn saw two elderly Stillmans,
one dressed better and one dressed worse. However, the narration is not specific
enough. It does not say anything about the two Stillmans supposedly having the same
eye color, hair color, or facial features. Also, anything described by the narration
could be faulty. In the

What I love about Rivlin s quote is that it directly applies to my life. I have traveled
to eleven states and have lived in two: Californiaand Texas. Though both California
and Texas are within the US, their geography, topography, weather, state history, and
culturevary significantly. California, termed the Golden State, is located in the
Western Region of the United Statesof America and borders the Pacific Ocean. With
Oregon to the north, Arizona and Nevada to the east, and Mexico to the south,
California is the longest state in the country. It follows 840 miles of coastline, and
claims a total of 163,696 square miles as home. This would make it the third largest
state in America. California s state symbols are a nice reflection of its vastness; the

The California gold rush and World War II were the most influential events in
creating California s culture. The gold rush brought out entrepreneurs, and people
looking for a new start. World War II called every state in the nation to contribute to
the war. For California, this meant using its lands to produce agriculture, and its
photographic landscapes to produce inspirational film which eventually led to the
birth of Hollywood. The critical events that shaped Texas s culture are its attempted
secession from the union and its participation in World War II. Texas s independent
state of mind has brought like minded entrepreneurs together to work toward a goal
of autonomy. World War II influenced Texans to also use their landscape. The
agricultural and petroleum industries skyrocketed, boosting Texas to be more
economically sound. Thus we have today s set

Abstract
The present experiment s aim was to test how well children and adults can use body
maps to show where another person was touched. This experiment was also used to
highlight how using body maps as an interview technique could produce some
inaccuracy and may not be a reliable way of getting information. In this experiment
a video was shown to both a group of adults between the ages of 18 23 years old
and a group of children between 5 6 years old with a man who was helping to dress
a little girl named Antonia as a pirate. Both groups of participants were then asked to
record where they saw Antonia get touched in the video on a body map. The
variables measured were the groups mean number of correct touches reported and a
mean accuracy score. The hypothesis for the experiment was that adults would score
higher on the number of correct touches and have a bigger accuracy score than the
children. This experiment supported the hypothesis, as the results were conclusive
showing adults had both a higher number of correct touches and accuracy score.

Richard M. Schulze And Gary Smoliak
In 1966, Richard M. Schulze and Gary Smoliak founded the Sound of Music store
which sold home and car stereo equipment in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The company
had over $1 million in revenue and made about $58,000 in profits in its first year; it
had three stores in Minnesota and became a publicly held company after 3 years.
In 1970, Richard solely owned the company since he bought out the stakes of his
partner. Later, he realized that the market was heading to saturation and the number
of his target customers was decreasing day by day. In 1983, Richard made a decision
of renaming the company as Best Buy Co., Inc. to make the store more appealing to
the customers. It was also rebranded by putting more emphasis on consumer

Sylvia Plath Accomplishments
Sylvia Plath the famous American writer from Boston, Massachusetts accomplished
many great poems and short stories in her short life. One of the greatest quotes and
a personal favorite is If you expect nothing from anybody, you re never disappointed.
By this quote she helped people rely more on themselves than on others. Even
though Plath life was tragically cut short due to suicide, she made great
accomplishments in todays life and her work is still used in everyday life. In many

1963 it took her over two and a half years just to finish her story and to published
the book. The Bell Jar was one of her most famous works. The bell jar was in an
inverted glass jar, generally used to display an object of scientific curiosity,
contain a certain kind of gas, or a maintain a vacuum(Sam Adam). For Esther, the
bell jar symbolized madness. When gripped by insanity, she feels as if she is
inside an airless jar that distorts her perspective on a world and prevents her from
connecting with the people around her (Adam). At the end of the novel, the bell jar
has lifted, but she can sense s going to drop at any moment and it described the
relationships she had with other guys. The theme of the story is a young woman
coming of age but does not follow the usual trajectory development of childhood. The
style of the poem was a flashback with Esther s past and the relationship with Buddy
Vengeance Seeking Female Essay
5 of the Best Vengeance Seeking Female Movie Characters
Revenge can come in all shapes, sizes and forms, but there is no form I love more
than that of the vengeance seeking woman. Whether it be through sheer wit, extreme
violence or a mixture of the two, there s something so thrilling about watching a
woman stick it to the man in a variety of ways. Especially when the proverbial man
deserves such comeuppance.
For your consideration, I have compiled a list of five of the very best examples of
vengeance seeking female characters.
Sex and Fury (FuryГґ anego den: Inoshika OchГґ)

Written and directed by one of the greatest exploitation directors of all time, Jack
Hill, Coffy is just one of many examples of the genre legend s fine work. The film
stars the great Pam Grier in the titular role of Coffy, who promises to take out local
drug pushers after her eleven year old sister is hospitalized after shooting up some
bad heroin.
Coffy uses her sexuality to take her revenge even pretending to be drugged up and
looking for some action as she lures unsuspecting scum to their deserving demise.
There s plenty of sex mixed in with some great action via Coffy s shotgun, but Coffy
as a film is still played straight, opting to concentrate as much on the exploitation
elements as it does the characters and story. This is a true testament to the respect
Hill had for the movie he was making.
The character of Coffy is sexy, deadly, and smart, all the elements that make for a
great revenge film character. Coffy is the film that put Grier on the exploitation map,
and even though she s a little rough around the edges performance wise, she remains
highly entertaining, especially in how well she delivers Hill s fantastic dialogue.

Artificial Meningitis Essay
Bacterial meningitis is an infection that originates in the meninges of the brain and
can spread into the spinal column. The symptoms can develop within hours and take
up to two days after encountering a carrier host. Bacterial meningitis can be
transmitted through fluid transmission from the mouth or throat of an infected
person. Bacterial meningitisis a gram negative meningitis diplococcal bacterium.
There are several bacteriatypes that can cause meningitis, which include
Streptococcus pneumoniae (the most common cause), Groupe B Streptococcus,
Neisseria meningitidis, Haemophilus influenzae, and Listeria monocytogenes. The
meningitis does not live long on surfaces outside the host but has shown to live
longer on glass surfaces compared to plastic. Approximately five percent to twenty
five percent of carriers will move around without symptoms or becoming sick.

The first outer most layer is called the Dura mater (Latin tough mother) lying
closest to the skull. The dura mater has large blood vessels that track throughout it,
then split into smaller vessels as they continue into the other Meninges. The next
meninge would be the Arachnoid mater, which gives the impression of a spider
web. This area protects the central nervous system within the skull. The third layer
is called the Pia mater, this layer is the closet to the brain. Pia mater is a fibrous
material that is firmly attached to the brain and spinal column. The meninges are
filled with cerebro spinal fluid (CSF). The CSF is clear in color and comprised of
roughly 125mL of fluid at any given time covering the brain and spinal cord. The
CSF is composed of water, protein, cells and sugars, which are vital for the nervous
system to function

The Dog Wood Play
I have read the book and saw this play at the Dog Wood park. When I first time to
read this play I feel it is boring. However, I was fascinated by this play last night.
Even though it performed by a small stage and didn t have some light effect.
However, the costume and the stage tool were really good. And the players are
excellent. Especially, I like the player who acted the mother in law. It is a tragic
play. When I saw it I was so sad. It impacted me so much. perhaps it may change my
attitude to the love. Even though they love each other, but they can not stay together.
The writer s poetic langue was so confused but it was beautiful. For me the theme of
this play is that the gender roles and the social class of marriage and family. This play
explored the limiting situation for women living Spain. And the how tragic ran
through their family.
The background of the blood wedding was in the 1930. During the civil war. This
play looked like a compelling love triangle, and it started with the bridegroom s
mother introduced some something. I could not follow this section because of not
listening clearly. And then Leonardo s wife tried to told him to remain with his
son, but it was not useful. Leonardo was still in love with the bride, and the bride
was same. their baby cried because they quarreled loudly I like this section, because

though she lacked the experience, she had the freedom and independence to make a
decision by herself. Perhaps, it is because of the different opinion between the mother

Taking Back The Vote
For a nation to truly develop everybody should participate in voting. If everyone
will vote then the elected representative will be someone who will represent the
believes and values of everyone or at least the majority. In that way, when the
representative will do something for the nation, everyone will be able to be
benefited from it. However, it is a harsh reality of our society that young people
vote at lower rates than other age groups. There are a lot of reasons for that, for
example, I think most young people are not interested enough in what the politicians
are claiming to in their campaign. Most politician talks about health care, better
economy, and external relations. These topics do not seem interesting to young
people because in most cases they have not been in a situations where they needed
any of those, for example, in most cases senior people need health care, middle age
group need to worry about the economy because they need to feed their kids, and
authorities need to worry about external affairs. Hence, young people end up not
votingbecause their issues are not being discussed in the electioncampaign. According
to Jane Eisner s book Taking Back the Vote, it is two processes. In one side, young
people do not vote because their issues are not discussed in the election campaigns,
and on another side, the politicians... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

from this, in some states, it is requiring having government issued ID to vote. Since

hence they end up not exercising their democratic

SWOT ANALYSIS OF INTERNET PROVIDER INDUSTRY A SWOT analysis
helps the companies or industry to analyse and understand where the industry
should place itself in the market, how they can improve and how to defeat their
competitors. With the SWOT analysis, a business understands its competitor s
position in the market or industry and identifies where the funds and resources of
the company should be invested so as to create new products and services for the
consumers (Aimee, 2010). Thus before conducting the SWOT analysis, we will
divide the ISP s into four groups: large ISP s, small ISP s, Telco and cable
companies STRENGTHS In the Internet Provider Industry, the large or big
companies have much more experience of the industry in comparison to small ISP
s. Consumers who are aware of these larger branded names will subscribe to such
known companies. Large ISPs have the ability of innovation; they can afford taking
risks. Their huge infrastructure is based on laid fibre optics, thus providing Internet
at lower rates and they also own some parts of networks which increase their strength
in the market (Rahima, 2013.) Their trained and qualified staff is more experienced

Shortcoming Of Education
The Shortcomings of Education The American system of education is failing to
develop critical thinking in children while also teaching them to be dependent and
submissive to a higher authority. In this system, American children are being viewed
as educational machines in a social hierarchy where they are at the bottom while also
only being taught surface level information of any subject. American education
instills in children a mentality where children have a fear of failure, lack
confidence, have no passion for learning, while also losing their independence and
ability to problem solve. All these issues which come from our education system
lead to lower test scores compared to other developed countries and the eventual
slowdown of economic progress. In America, children are trained to absorb
information given by teachers and recall it at a later date regardless of whether they
understand the concept or not. As stated by Freire, The student records, memorizes
and repeats these phrases without perceiving what four times four really means or
realizing the true significance of capital in the affirmation the capital of ParГЎ is
BelГ©m. (Freire 244) This system promotes surface level understanding of concepts
and punishes those who either cannot recall information or would go explore
different concepts for the answer. The educational system is very rigid not allowing
students to diverge from the educational path that has been set for them. This also
prevents students from
Reflection On Learning Styles
As both a learner and someone who aspires to teach I have many different learning
styles. In class taking the three different learning style inventories I noticed that I
came out to have some results that were really realistic and fit me and my learning
style in class as well as the way I enjoy to teach others. The three Learning Stylestests
we took included Howard Gardner s Multiple Intelligences theory, The traditional
learningstyle inventory, and lastly, the DISC model theory. Together I think these
three devices really helped me understand the way I learn much more effectively as
well as ways to identify, teach, and adapt my teaching style to best fit other learning
styles.
According to Howard Gardner s Multiple intelligences learning theory I am Verbal
Linguistic, Musical, and lastly Interpersonal. With Verbal Linguistic being my most
prominent and noticeable learning theory without taking the quiz I believe that this
stems back from when I was younger and how my mother planted the love of
reading into my childhood. Even when I was younger I was always the child to
raise my hand and volunteer to read the longest page out of the book because I just
loved reading and speaking aloud. Something new I learned from this learning theory
inventory was that I am also a Musical learner, which I wasn t really expecting. Much
like most teens my age, I enjoy listening to music and singing along, but I never really
thought about how much music affects my learning. Now after taking
Agatha Christie Rationale
LING292 Assignment 3: Part 3 Rationale
The intended audience for my publication are fans of Agatha Christie, old and new
as stated in the subtitle of the publication. There are some posts that are aimed
more towards newer fans, such as Poirot Reading Order for fans who want to know
where to start reading her Poirot stories, or to make sure they don t read a book that
spoils another book they have not yet read.
I chose an article on Agatha Christie herself, The Secrets of Agatha Christie by John
Curran, as I imagine readers would be interested in her and why she was
successful. The movie review on Murder on the Orient Express by Leigh Paatsch
was a relevant choice as the film has released in theatres recently so I looked for a
mostly positive review for the publication. And I chose the novel recipe by Kate
Young as a fun and interesting post, perhaps for the bigger Christie fans who knew
every detail of her books, or just for fans who wanted to try a bit of cooking.
I edited the directions of the recipe so that it was easier to understand and follow
since I imagined the audience were probably not dedicated chefs. I divided them
into much smaller steps and categorised the steps for legibility and ease of reading
on the screen. For example, Making the Ice Cream became its own heading. Because
this is a publication on the internet, I also envisaged a more international audience
and I edited the material to suit this purpose. Cling film is used in the UK, so I
Ethical Issues In Criminal Justice Summary
At the beginning of the video, the spokesperson indicates that ninety five percent of
criminal cases enter pleas and never go to trial. With such a large amount, it is
inevitable that innocent people will enter the criminal justice system. The individuals
in society expect prosecutors and defense attorneys to act ethical at all times,
however, this video highlights misconduct that likely occurs everyday. We see
numerous examples of ethical issues and dilemmas throughout the entirety of the
video, which can lessen the public s faith in the criminal justice system when these
problems are brought to light. Ethical issues are defined as difficult social or policy
questions that include controversy over the right thing to do. Patsy Kelly Jarrett

Without telling the defendant or his family, the prosecutor and the victim s father
negotiated a plea deal. The deal agreed upon was a manslaughter charge with seven

which in my opinion is a coercive tactic. Despite wanting to go to trial, Gampero
took the plea deal and was convicted. As a stipulation of the agreement, he had to
describe in detail what happened that evening. When the judge did not like his
answer, he in turn filled in the details which now makes Gampero look guilty. The
ethical dilemma occurred when Gampero wanted to take his chance with a trial, but
did not because of the harsher consequence that would be imposed. After serving
time, more witness came forward and attested to his defense, however he had already
pled guilty so there was nothing he could
Challenges Of Islamic Finance Industry
CHALLENGES TO ISLAMIC FINANCE INDUSTRY
Many authors agree that Islamic finance industry has a long way to become globally
successful industry. To achieve its potential for solid growth, Islamic finance must
improve number of areas including: improving regulatory supervision in the industry,
adaptation of tax treatment to Islamic banking products, establishing liquidity control,
introducing risk management tools, supporting standardization of financial products
and others.
Prasad (2015) mentions necessity of protection of investments accounts, regulation in
relation to Islamic contracts and treatment of investments accounts and risk
management. He also highlights liquidity, as the critical issue. There is a lack of
management instruments in central banks to manage liquidity in Islamic banks. The
Sukuk market is expected to continue to expand very rapidly, and its development
will give Islamic banks access to the high quality liquid assets needed to comply with
international liquidity standards. Tax regulation is needed in countries which have
only regulations for conventional finance system, because some of Islamic products
can face double taxation from their nature, especially investment income from
Sukuks. There is also problem with multilayered transactions, which can cause higher
taxation. All these taxation aspects may put Islamic finance at a disadvantage.
The recent global financial crisis highlighted the importance of policymakers in
responding system wide to risks

How the Character of Macbeth Changes Between Act I Scene iii, and Act III Scene I
Shakespeare uses many different methods to show that Macbeth changes greatly
between Act I Scene iii and Act III Scene i, these include his use of language in
speeches and directional action. Banquo s reaction in Act I Scene iii shows that
Macbeth is initially afraid of the prophecy. Macbeth s own speech indicates that he is
unsure of the truth in what he has been told, but is both intrigued and excited by the
thought of becoming king, however, he is confused by his inner thoughts of murder
and deceit. His speech in Act I Scene iii shows that he is still loyal to Banquo.
However, by Act III Scene i his irrational... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He asks Macbeth, Why do you start and seem to fear, things that do sound so fair?
The word start suggests that Macbeth has jumped in fright and bewilderment. The
phrase seem to fear, shows us that Macbeths expression betrays the fact that he is
shocked and in awe of what the witches have said.
====================================================================
In Act I, Scene iii, Macbeth is still acting friendly to Banquo, even though he is
starting to perceive him as a threat. This is shown by the two quotes, My thought,
whose murder yet is but fantastical, and, till then, come friends. The words, My
thoughts, and, yet is but fantastical, indicate that he is thinking about murder, but as
yet does not know why and that he is deciding not to act upon his thoughts yet, but
to leave them to fate. The phrase, Come friends, shows that he is still acting friendly
to the other characters, when we know that he is really dwelling on the thought of
murder.
====================================================================
However, in Act III Scene i, Macbeth s desperation to remain king has grown, and
his friendship with Banquo is coming second place to him being king. This is shown
by the quote, upon my head they placed a fruitless crown, and put a barren sceptre in
my grip. The

Goodbye to All That Analytical Essay
A Fair City
I could speak of Joan Didion s use of rhetorical devices. I could describe every
subtle simile she imposes and preach of her incredible use of personification, but I
think the most important piece of the essay would, then, be neglected. In Goodbye
to All That, Didion compares her experiences in New York to the occurrences at a
fair. This metaphor is discussed in a very roundabout way. Ultimately, though,
Didion (like anybody) grew tired and dissatisfied with the fair (in her case NYC).
Fairs lure people in through the gates with bright lights, loud buzzers, and
exhilarating games. These same tactics help to attract tourists to New York City. Like
a kid at a fair, Didion becomes enticed by such distractions and cannot ... Show more

She admits, Even that late in the game I still liked going to parties, all parties, bad
parties (p.687). The connection to the fair in this case stems from a child s ability
to be so keyed up and eager to play as many games as they can, that they will even
play games they do not like. Bad games (Intentional fragment). This view and
interest of the city, this time at the fair, ends. The ending is not a definite point in
time, but instead a gradual distaste for the details. Like the same child at the same
fair, at the same time, every year, Didion outgrows the city and is no longer
intrigued. She states, I stopped believing in new faces (p.687) and realizes, It is
distinctively possible to stay too long at the Fair (p.687). She cannot stand the
identical conversations at Grand Central, the stuck up women on Madison Ave.,
Times Square, or the New York Public Library. Eventually, Didion avoids these
places. Like a boy who has outgrown the annual fair, she promises to return after a
six month leave of absence. Three years after Didion made that promise, she finds
herself returning to the fair. Back in New York, she realizes her acquaintances are
no more and her friends had moved. She states, We stayed for ten days, and then we
took the afternoon flight back to Los Angeles (p.688). Boys, a couple years removed
from the correct age for attending the fair, promise to return. Sometimes they do
return and sometimes they do not. Like Didion did, they
How Different Are Our Thanksgivings
How different are our Thanksgivings really? How many people do you know that
do things differently than you for Thanksgiving? Thanksgiving is a time where you
get your whole family together and spend time with each other. During your time
together, you reminisce about hilariously weird memories and laugh at all of the
amazingly fun times you guys have had together. Also, you feast and make more
memories that you will have with you forever! When your with whoever s house
you go to, you get to be you and not worry about what anyone thinks because you
know your familyloves you the way you are.
Writing this essay could make you have an open mind about others and how
different we celebrate our holiday. Most of my peers and I eat the same thing.
Some things are Turkey, Mashed Potatoes, and Mac n Cheese. More things we all
eat in common is Ham, Stuffing, and Green Bean Casserole, and ect. Also, we all
have pies and something to do with vegetables. Not everyone has the same type of
thing but have something to do with one thing. Although, the main courses of our
food is the same with most people. Everyone has at most three things the same
whether it s a type of pie or actual food, they are the same. About six, maybe more,
are different than what we eat. One thing is dumplings, not everyone eats
dumplings. Green Beans, cheese and cracker platter, chips and dip, and French
Silk Pie are all more examples of what we eat differently than others. For
Thanksgiving, some have seven pies or they have one pie, or we have pecan pie
and someone else has apple pie. We all have different qualities of certain food
depending on who like it. Making some new food this year would be a great idea,
because you don t know if you like it or not, and you won t know unless you try it.
The activities we do inside are different, some play video games or watch football
or basketball. My family along with many others play board games and reminisce
over our most prized and favorite memories. Also our behavior around each other
is kind and caring because we care about one another. Some families fight or try and
talk over each other because we wanna talk or we just don t get along in general. My
favorite thing to do during Thanksgiving or any

Weimar Influence On Germany
The German army (The Reichswehr) contributed to the considerable social, political
and economic changes that took place in Germany between 1919 and 1934. The
German army was one of the strongest nationalistic organisations in the country
following WWI and became essential in the Weimar Republic, providing defense
against revolutionary communist forces in the early stages of the democracy.
However, while the German army aided in preventing the success of communist
uprisings and the strong right wing situations that prevented the attacks on the right
wing assaults, Weimar militarism was a key contributing factor to increasing political
chaos surrounding the final moments of the Weimar democracy.

Weimar Germany came into power in an environment of severe external pressure,
creating a political crisis. Political betrayal and injustice trigged revolutionary coups
throughout 1920 that intended to bring about the downfall of the Weimar Republic.
The political issues led to the rise of Hitler and strengthening of the right, which
the development of a powerful military state was altered by need of Hitler for the

Effective Methods Of Pain Control During Surgical
Operations
Introduction to Anesthesia Before 1846 there weren t any truly effective methods of
pain control during surgical operations. However, methods of relieving pain,
inducing drowsiness, and provoking stupor, have been used all over the world since
the beginning of ancient civilizations. Plants like opium, cannabis, and mandragora
were used in ancient times as drugs that relived general and procedural pain. There
are ancient Chinese legends like Pien ch iao and Hua T o, whose stories resemble
early ideas of anesthesia. Pien Ch iao was said to have used anesthesia to perform
heart transplants. Hua T o legend was said to have used a wine containing a certain
effervescent powder which, upon ingestion, caused insensibility to pain (1). In the...

James Moore s book in 1784, A Method of Diminishing Pain in Several Operations
of Surgery dealt with properties of anesthesia. He was a military surgeon, and
successfully provided nerve compression as an effective anesthetic technique
before 1846. By placing pressure on sciatic, obturator, and the crural nerves, the leg
could be entirely numbed. Anesthesia by deadly levels of intoxication was also
applied as an anesthetic technique. However, this was highly unsuccessful and
proved to be more harmful than effective. Wardrop and John Syng Dorsey noted
anesthesia by exsanguination. They supported this method of anesthesia as they
realized that exsanguination produced a state of syncope, which allowed them to
successfully perform surgical procedures with an absence of patient discomfort..
Their findings are seen in some case histories. One noted a 50 year old man with a
dislocated hip. He was successfully induced into a state of syncope via puncturing of
his vein for bloodletting. 34 ounces of blood was removed from this man. A
combination of blood loss, a warm bath, and antimony tartrate, caused a temporary
loss of consciousness; during this unconscious state the hip was reduced.

Analysis Of Honour Killing By Imtiaz Dharker
Poetry: Honour Killing Textual Commentary
Honour killing is a poem written by Imtiaz Dharker which depicts the struggles of
women within countries in the middle east that oppress women whether it be
verbally or physically, and Dharker being a Pakistani woman expressed her views
through this piece of work. An honour killing is the act of taking someone s life
who has disrespected themselves and their family, an example of this is a Pakistani
woman who was shot by her family because she wanted to divorce the man she was
with. The true difference between a western culture and a middle eastern culture can
be shown in the fact that the Pakistani senate refused to condemn what happened to
this woman and deemed it an honour killing. The poem is an outcry for freedom for
woman who are being oppressed and kept down by cultural ideas within the countries
which commit these acts.
The main objective of this poem is to illustrate how woman within middle eastern
countries (possibly more of the world) are kept down by certain aspects of society
such as cultural aspects or religious aspects, Dharker wanted to bring this issue into
the light through means of poetry. A concept which most people around the world
want to have is patriotism as it shows loyalty to a country and also represents a
home, however a rather large perception throughout the poem is a sense of wanting
to strip away the patriotism. The first time Dharker represents the notion of
wanting to be rid of a society s expectations is in the line I m taking off this veil,
this black veil of a faith The woman who is speaking here is describing taking off
her veil which in some middle eastern countries can be an offence to religious
beliefs; the poem shows that women within these countries feel like they are being
forced into situations which aren t fair to them, for example honour killings. The
way Dharker writes is to inform the audience of serious issues which are more than
relevant in modern society, she wants to make the reader see how women are treated
differently and how they need to strip away at their own beliefs just to feel like they
can fit in when they should be able to fit in no matter where they are living.
Individuality also plays a role in what

the apparent magnitude of a star. It also noted the change of astronomical units to

Compare And Contrast Politics And Political System
Here in this topic an issue arises that why we do compare and compare the political
systems of the different regions, states, and countries and as well as domestic politics.
To answer the bigger question what is politics and political systems. Politics mean
the activities associated are attached with the governance of a country or area
especially the debate between parties or regimes having power. Politics is also to
struggle to gain power to rule and govern governments. On the other hand
governments have access to resources and powers to rule over people and as well as
empower people through the majority winning political party who wins to rule and
impose.
Some philosophers consider politics it forces for good while others take it as force
for evil. In seventeenth and eighteenth century were the opinions that if no
government existed, there would be state of nature. Some philosophers conceive the
idea of Social Contract on which societies come to an existence. John Locke, Jacques

others provide us the opportunity to see wider range of political alternatives and

Mesopotamian Empires
The four empires of mesopotamia all had a bright future but could not all reign at the
same time, so war came upon them and destroyed what they built. All of the
civilizations that lived in mesopotamia rose and fell like the flaming sun.
The first people to control mesopotamia were the Akkadians. For about 1200 years
Sumer was a place of freedom and independence. Then in 2300 B C E the Akkadians
came and took over all of mesopotamia. The Akkadians were lead by a mighty
general named Sargon. He was the first of the kings of the akkadians. With his
military skills and strategies he built a large army of strong trained men. He trained
his men to fight tight and skillfully. He used the skills that he had to win land for his

The assyrians lived in the northern part of mesopotamia and had lived there for a
long period of time. The assyrians were actually pretty peaceful people, until
Hammurabi had conquered them. Then in about 900 B C E they rose up and took
power and prepared for war. With a strong army they started to conquer the rest of
mesopotamia and took it for themselves. They were feared for their cruelty and
military defence. But they are best known for their weapons and battle strategies.
They had worked on and perfected the use of horses and iron weapons and became
taught to the siege warfare strategies. A siege was to camp on the outside of the
city and repeatedly attack until it was conquered. The assyrians created new ways
of attacking and were the first to use the battering ram. The battering was a long
heavy wood beam the was placed on wheels and were used to bring down walls.
They also made huge movable towers to the soldiers could get over the walls
easily. They believed that the gods were the special beings and built beautiful
homes just for them. They also built aqueducts for fresh drinking water that could
come from more than 30 miles away. Tho their rule lasted to 300 years and there
land expanded from egypt to the persian gulf and it grew too thin and weakened as
the attacking neighbors came and rose up against them. In 612 B C E a combined
force of the Babylonians, Scythians, and a group of people called the medes took
down the Assyrians forever.
In the end, of it all these three empires all had achievements and strength but had all
perished and fell to the ground in the end. When the akkadians fell Hammurabi
came and took over, and when Hammurabi s empire died the Assyrians came in. Tho
the Assyrians took over they were too weak to fight off all the enemies and also went
down in flames. Finally all three of the empires came and took then plummeted and

The village of Ludlow, Pennsylvania may look like any other abandoned, small

Media Science And The Abortion Debate
Abortion has always been a controversial topic whether abortion should be legalized
or not for a quite some time. It has sparked numerous debates in many countries
around the world. In most countries, abortion is legalized, yet however, there are
some countries which don t allow women to have abortions. Additionally, if done, the
women will be punished by the law severely. In my belief, I don t think abortion
should be banned, even though it s not healthy for women and their development
(reproductive wise). The consequences and results coming from not allowing
abortion would lead to many women not being able to take care of her child, and
more importantly, not giving her children a normal and healthy life. In this situation,
if the government does not allow abortion, then the children of these women children
might end up becoming socially inept, leading to depression or certain mental
illnesses due to the lack of love and care from their parents.... Show more content on

Licensure And Certification Of North Carolina
Licensure and Certification In North Carolina When thinking of becoming a
counselor, there is a process that is required to fulfill that desire. Not only are there
education requirements, but professional requirements to fulfill. It is not uncommon
to have different requirements for each state. The purpose of this paper is to outline
the requirements for North Carolina, along with a few reasons a license might be
revoked or suspended, and closing with an article about a proposal by the American
Psychological Association.
A license is essentially a form of permission to do something. An example of this is
a driver s license; it gives the driver permission by law to drive a car because they
met all the requirements to drive. Mental Health Counselors in North Carolina are
granted licensure. A credential is the professional title an individual possesses. An
example of credential is MD for medical doctor or LPC for Licensed Professional
Counselor. Certificate is a document that shows completion of education of any type,
such as a certificate of completion or even a diploma for completing high school.
Laws and Regulations
Practicum and internship requirements during degree programs are required though
do not count towards licensure requirements. Practicum requires 17 hours of
supervised counseling, which also must be verified by a University Faculty member
(NCBLPC, n.d.). Internship students must complete 300 hours of supervised
counseling experience. Eight (8) of
Awake of the Civil War
In the wake of the Civil War, Congress acceded to pressure to have the federal
government intercede to secure African Americans rights. What were some of the
long range effects of that government posture? The Union Victory in the Civil War
in 1865 granted freedom to approximately 4 million slaves, however, the process of
rebuilding the South during the Reconstruction period 1865 1877 brought a lot of
challenges. In 1865 and 1866 under the supervision of President Andrew Johnson,
new Southern state legislatives passed the black codes to control the labor and
behavior of former slaves and other African Americans. During the Radical
Reconstruction in 1869, new enfranchised blacks had a voice in the government for

Although freedom to become citizens took longer and the fight more difficult, a
great number of African Americans steadily gained various rights which
accumulated over time. It is important to note that racial segregations momentum
dissipated over time as more and more blacks held positions of authority and
congressional approval overwhelmingly supported more rights for blacks.
Nonetheless, it is also imperative to consider how white supremacists such as the
KKK fought to undo the important developments. Till this day, both the executive
legislative and judiciary wings of government are constantly battling instances of
racial segregation. However, the long range effects of federal government struggle
to secure equal rights for African Americans has been significant successes in the
rise of African American entrepreneurship. The proliferation of blacks in both
government and civil society, the rise of blacks in academia, sports and liberal arts
are long effects of the fight for African American rights. This has progressively
opened up American society and in a way, levelled the playing field. Also this
federal government action to intervene in the affairs of the state has lived on
throughout the 21st century. Reference Carson, C., Lapsansky Werner, E. J. amp;

Japanese Occupation of Borneo
In 1941, the Second World War broke out in the pacific region. As it was a
principal plays of war between the Allied and Japan in the Pacific Region, it was
named as Pacific Ocean Theater. To be the superior in the Pacific Region, the
Japanese need to posses resources in order to have a sufficient supply demand to
stay in the war. Particularly, the Japanese needs oil resources. As it was for oil
resources that their wanted to posses, Borneo became the main target for Japan. In
addition according to Gordon (2000) in August 1940, Japanese Prime Minister
Matsuoka Yosuke formed an imperial concept of the Greater East Asia Co prosperity
Sphere where they are trying to create a self contained community of Asian nations
led by the Japanese, for which the Asian nation will share the prosperity and peace
and liberating Asians from Western colonialism. However, when their mission
accomplished, the concept in theory differs from the reality as they manipulated the
colonies for their own imperial benefits. In these essays, it will discuss about the
Japanese Occupation of Borneo with particular references to Brunei.
Aside from possessing the resources to be superior in the Pacific Region, the
Japanese also needed to claim the territories under British colonies to be one. The
Japanese occupation plan is basically seizing British territories to literally weaken the
British strength. The invasion of Brunei in some way accomplished the mission. As
the British were defeated to Japanese
The Outsiders Movie Review
Movie review for outsiders
The Outsiders Movie is made with author Hinton and directed by Frank Capra,
Hinton started to write the book when she was 15. The movie first published in 1967.
Well, the movie is pretty good in my opinion. The Actor and the story are great as
well. The movie is pretty close to the book, which I liked a lot. But it skipped some
small parts of the book, like Ponyboy got jumped by soc at the start of the book.
The story of this book is great too, It basically talked about the story of Ponyboy
curtis(main character), and his greaser friend fought for their rival gang: socs. And
struggles with right and wrong in a society.
Talk about the actors, I think they are perfect for the movie. C. Thomas Howell for

Argumentative Essay On Immigration Law
Immigration is such a complicated topic. I really didn t realize everything that went
into it until I got to college and was able to vote myself. Although I have written
thousands of words on this topic, I still am unsure if I can for certain say that I
completely agree with one side of the argument or the other. What I do believe is the
fact that immigrationis a touchy issue, especially within the United States, and each
case should be looked at differently. My first source I talked about was an article I
found on the internet called, Top Ten Reasons for Enforcing America s
Immigration Laws . This article was written by Frosty Wooldridge and promoted
the idea of a more enacted immigration law in the United States. Wooldridge
promoted 10 different reasons why he so strongly believed that these immigration
laws should be strictly followed. Wooldridge believed that it s time to raise the
American standard of living. The real minimum wage in the United States has been
dropping for more than an entire decade. Some people believe that we need to raise
the minimum wage, but then this would lead to raising to price of illegal laborers
above our free market value. This would then result in a huge amount of mass
unemployment. This I agree with. American citizens are the ones suffering when it
comes to illegal workers getting paid under the table. Wooldridge also stated that we
as America, would be creating over ten million new jobs for United States citizens. I
agree with this
Why Was Marilyn Monroe Conspiracy
Remembered as the elegant blond red lipped bombshell iconic singer, actress and
sex symbol of the 1950s. Her talent and legacy is still carried on by her highly
legendary pop painting by Andy Warhol and influential flying skirt photos. But
some remember her tragic death the most. Her name was Marilyn Monroe. She was
only 36 when she was found face down dead in her Los Angeles home on August 5th
1962. The official coronas report stated that Hollywood s face had gone through a
probable suicide by swallowing 40 barbiturates which caused her stomach line to
haemorrhage intensely enough that she couldn t last long enough for the ambulance
to arrive. But was this the full story? Multiple voices including Clemens the first
police officer in the scene... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was not worded out to the public but almost everyone knew for certain that
Marilyn had affairs with both John and Robert Kennedy. Apparently Robert
Kennedy told Marilyn that he would never marry her this brought deep depression
into Marilyn s life which lead to her threatening to come out with the affairs with
him and his brother which she had kept track in a diary. The Kennedy s repeatedly
demanded Marilyn to live them alone and give in her diary which Marilyn denied
to do. Robert felt dethroned and anguished so he told Greenson who apparently
also had an affair with Marilyn that she was going to tell the public about their
affair as well. Greenson didn t want his reputation to fade so he agreed to help
Robert. Then moments later the pair who was accompanied by two body guards
and Peter Lawford barged into Marilyn s house. Marilyn was unable to defend
herself since one of the guards had injected nembutal to calm her down this however
made her collapse on the floor. One bodyguard tore her clothes then injected an
enema to stage out a suicide. While the other men scattered across her house in order
to find her diary. Later on Eunice had found Marilyn s dead
All The President s Men
Director Alan J. Pakula hit the nail on the head with his film, All the President s
Men, which does a fantastic job portraying the events of the Watergate scandal.
Filmed in 1976, the movie encompasses the story of reporters Bob Woodward
(Robert Redford) and Carl Bernstein (Dustin Hoffman) from The Washington Post
as they try to uncover vital details about the scandal. To keep an engaging audience,
Pakula starts his film off with an eerie and controversial scene that portrays a guard
ripping off a piece of tape that has been placed in between the door frame.
The film does a great job of realistically retelling the events of the Watergate scandal.

All the President s Men tends to make a huge deal about reporting, alter facts and
leave out a few crucial people within the scandal investigation. With proper
background knowledge and further research into the Watergate scandal, the
viewer is able to tell that there are some brief exaggerations. Similar to the film s
reporters, in today s world, news reporters are always trying to get the next best
story. They will do anything and everything possible to get the truth behind a hot
story. Many famous people now a days can t walk a few steps without being
bombarded by the media. Everything celebrities say or do is noted by the media
and usually gets leaked to the public very quickly. In comparison to the time period
and media of the 70 s, in today s world we are able to pretty much get any
information on almost anyone at any given time. The levels of privacy have gone
down due to the media engagement and the advancement of technology. The
activeness of today s media can be similar to that of the five thief s trying to place
recording devices in the Democratic Party s headquarters. With every news story,
any piece of information can be blown out of proportion and altered to appeal to a
bigger audience. This is just a mere effect from the ever changing world we live in

The leader has to learn and develop a sound knowledge in communication skill which

Despite the leaders best efforts to present the organizational changes in a positive
way, they might encounter some challenges and resistance within team members
because every team members might not perceive the organizational change the same
way. As a result, the leader has to actively involving the team members who resist
change by incorporating some of their input and feedback in the change process. This
will help reduce their resistance, according to Dianna (2006).
Application of Change Theory
Due to recent problem identified in national staffing association Inc. (NSA) is a
break in communication, that lead to lack of continuation of care some of the
clients we serve. There was a change in clients plan of care (POC) as the Medicaid

Introduction
The website I chose to analyze is the Smithsonian s History Explorer. I have always
been interested in history and the lessons from the past that still affect us in the
present (and will affect us in the future). After clicking through the website, I saw
an array of interesting topics that can certainly help the educator and shape the
classroom. I wanted to see if the website itself was user friendly for I find that it s
easy to lose interest if the site you re on has distracting pop ups or have links that do
not work. The field of education must also keep up with the advancements of
technology, as it can be a great program that can make teaching effective and efficient.
More importantly, I wanted to analyze how the resources ... Show more content on

On top of the Webinars, there are also links to the programs that bring Museum staff
to communities nationwide, such as the Smithsonian s Let s Do History Tour , where
the staff visit school district nationwide to share effective, exciting teaching
techniques and K 12 resources free of charge (Smithsonian). If given the opportunity,
a school district s educators can interact and learn from the Museum staff directly
with regards to the available resources from the Museum s site. This can enhance the
history educators expertise on the subjects they teach; they can see hands on how
they can use these very resources in their classroom and they can ask questions to the
staff to ensure the effectiveness of the materials and frameworks they are presented.
Another example of a resource found on this page, If You Walked in My Shoes
teaching poster presents the students with the who, what, where, when, why and how
of object investigation and the personal stories associated with the history of the pairs
of shoes in the Museum s collection (Smithsonian). More importantly, besides the
helpful videos, images and programs, the site shows the many ways to stay in contact
with the Museum. For example, educators from the National Museum of American
History are active users of Edmodo (Smithsonian). This allows educators nationwide
to have portable access to materials and ideas
How Is Harry Potter Selfish
Hogwarts is full of magic, but it always seems like there is something bad
happening, even if they can paralyze someone with a word. Harry Potter (the main
character in J.K. Rowling s Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets ) and
everyone at his school is being terrorized by a mythical creature. In the story Harry
does bold things and is very curious. Harry s first trait is that he is bold. One
example of that is when he broke out of his uncle s house. Harry couldn t believe it
he was free. He rolled down the window... looked back at the shrinking rooftops of
Privet Drive. Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia, and Dudley were all hanging,
dumbstruck out of Harry s bedroom window. That is the first clue to harry being
bold. Breaking out of a house is one thing, but talking with giant spiders is another
feat entirely. Harry and Ron got taken away by giant spiders to the king of spiders,
Aragog. ...spiders. Not tiny spiders like those surging over the leaves below. Spiders
the size of carthorses, eight eyed, black, hairy, gigantic... Harry fell to the ground on
all fours as the spider released him. Ron and Fang thudded down next to him. Fang
wasn t howling anymore, but cowering silently on the spot... Harry realized that...

Framework on the traditional oil and gas upstream industry in the UK. The
company of my choice is EnQuest PLC, the largest UK independent oil producer in
the UK North Sea. 1.About The Model Porter s Five Forces model is designed to
assess the attractiveness of an industry based on the actual or potential competition
through the following five forces: Rivalry Among Existing Competitors; Threat of
New Entrants; Bargaining Power of Buyers; Bargaining Power of Suppliers; Threat
of Substitute Products or Services (Johnson et al., 2014). The framework is a holistic
approach to analysing any industry and is based on the principle that the stronger the
five forces are, the less attractive it is to compete. Hence, high threat of new entrants
and substitutes combined with high bargaining power of buyers and suppliers
diminishes industry profitability (Porter 2008). 1.1 Advantages Historically, the Five
Forces Framework has

The Cask Of Amontillado Analysis Essay.pdf

  • 1. The Cask Of Amontillado Analysis Essay Crafting an essay on the analysis of "The Cask of Amontillado" may pose a considerable challenge, given the intricate layers and nuances embedded within Edgar Allan Poe's short story. To undertake such a task successfully, one must navigate through the complex themes, character motivations, and literary devices employed by Poe to convey his narrative. The story itself is a psychological exploration of revenge, betrayal, and the descent into madness. Unraveling the motivations of the characters, particularly Montresor and Fortunato, requires a keen understanding of human psychology and the ability to dissect the subtleties in Poe's writing. Additionally, delving into the historical and cultural context of the narrative can add depth to the analysis, as Poe often weaves his tales with elements of the macabre and Gothic tradition. The task is further compounded by the need for a nuanced examination of the symbolism and imagery present in the text. Poe, known for his mastery in crafting vivid and symbolic imagery, challenges the essay writer to decipher the hidden meanings behind every brick in the catacombs and every nuance in the characters' interactions. Moreover, an effective analysis demands a comprehensive exploration of the narrative structure, pacing, and stylistic choices made by Poe. The essayist must carefully navigate through the suspenseful build-up, the climactic revelation, and the lingering sense of horror that permeates the story. Attention to detail and a keen eye for literary devices such as irony, foreshadowing, and symbolism are imperative to capture the essence of Poe's craft. In conclusion, tackling a "The Cask of Amontillado" analysis essay is a formidable task that requires a deep understanding of literature, psychology, and Poe's unique storytelling techniques. However, with dedication, careful analysis, and a meticulous approach, one can unlock the layers of this classic short story and present a compelling and insightful essay. • 2. City Of Glass Graphic Book Analysis City of Glass the novel written by Paul Auster and its comic adaptation by Paul Karasik and David Mazzucchelli have ways that they are the same and ways they are different. The part of both books I am going to focus on is from the time the main character, William Wilson a.k.a Quinn, goes to the train station to keep an eye on the elderly Peter Stillman on behalf of Virginia Stillman to the time where Quinn loses sight of Peter Stillman. There are several similarities as well as differences that I saw in this interval of time. Ultimately, the graphic noveldoes stand alone as a story; however, as it routinely leaves out content as well as making other changes, it makes an effect on the readers that is different than the effect the original... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The thing to note in both of these situations is that the graphic novel just makes implications, while the original novel gives more explanations. This is because the essence of a novel is different than the essence of a graphic novel. So far, and as readers will see later, the original City of Glass novel is more detailed, but detail is not always needed. The problem arises when a story leaves out something that is essential to understanding what is going on. Before I go into how the graphic novel leaves out detail, I want to talk about a few more instances where the novel and the graphic novel are roughly equal in their storytelling so that when I describe the graphic novel s flaws, it will be easier to understand. There are a few times when this happens: when Quinn is hesitant as to which Stillman to follow, and when Quinn follows the Stillman to the hotel. These occurrences that happen both in the novel and graphic novel are conveyed in a satisfactory manner. The first big difference we see is implied. The original novel describes that Quinn saw two elderly Stillmans, one dressed better and one dressed worse. However, the narration is not specific enough. It does not say anything about the two Stillmans supposedly having the same eye color, hair color, or facial features. Also, anything described by the narration could be faulty. In the
  • 3. California Vs Texas Culture Essay A multicultural society does not reject the culture of the other but is prepared to listen, to see, to dialogue and, in the final analysis, to possibly accept the other s culture without compromising its own Reuven Rivlin, Israeli politician and lawyer. What I love about Rivlin s quote is that it directly applies to my life. I have traveled to eleven states and have lived in two: Californiaand Texas. Though both California and Texas are within the US, their geography, topography, weather, state history, and culturevary significantly. California, termed the Golden State, is located in the Western Region of the United Statesof America and borders the Pacific Ocean. With Oregon to the north, Arizona and Nevada to the east, and Mexico to the south, California is the longest state in the country. It follows 840 miles of coastline, and claims a total of 163,696 square miles as home. This would make it the third largest state in America. The California gold rush and World War II were the most influential events in creating California s culture. The gold rush brought out entrepreneurs, and people looking for a new start. World War II called every state in the nation to contribute to the war. For California, this meant using its lands to produce agriculture, and its photographic landscapes to produce inspirational film which eventually led to the birth of Hollywood. The critical events that shaped Texas s culture are its attempted secession from the union and its participation in World War II. Texas s independent state of mind has brought like minded entrepreneurs together to work toward a goal of autonomy. World War II influenced Texans to also use their landscape. The agricultural and petroleum industries skyrocketed, boosting Texas to be more economically sound. Thus we have today s set

Interviewing Techniques And Their Use Of Body Maps Interviewing Techniques and their Accuracies: Body Maps and their Use in Court or Clinical Settings Name: Claire McGregor Lab Class Number: 131 Student ID: 5259490 Lab Demonstrator: Lianne Atkinson Date: Thursday 13th August 2015 Abstract The present experiment s aim was to test how well children and adults can use body maps to show where another person was touched. This experiment was also used to highlight how using body maps as an interview technique could produce some inaccuracy and may not be a reliable way of getting information. In this experiment a video was shown to both a group of adults between the ages of 18 23 years old and a group of children between 5 6 years old with a man who was helping to dress a little girl named Antonia as a pirate. Both groups of participants were then asked to record where they saw Antonia get touched in the video on a body map. The variables measured were the groups mean number of correct touches reported and a mean accuracy score. The hypothesis for the experiment was that adults would score higher on the number of correct touches and have a bigger accuracy score than the children. This experiment supported the hypothesis, as the results were conclusive showing adults had both a higher number of correct touches and accuracy score. Coffy uses her sexuality to take her revenge even pretending to be drugged up and looking for some action as she lures unsuspecting scum to their deserving demise. There s plenty of sex mixed in with some great action via Coffy s shotgun, but Coffy as a film is still played straight, opting to concentrate as much on the exploitation elements as it does the characters and story. This is a true testament to the respect Hill had for the movie he was making. The character of Coffy is sexy, deadly, and smart, all the elements that make for a great revenge film character. Coffy is the film that put Grier on the exploitation map, and even though she s a little rough around the edges performance wise, she remains highly entertaining, especially in how well she delivers Hill s fantastic dialogue. If everyone will vote then the elected representative will be someone who will represent the believes and values of everyone or at least the majority. In that way, when the representative will do something for the nation, everyone will be able to be benefited from it. However, it is a harsh reality of our society that young people vote at lower rates than other age groups. There are a lot of reasons for that, for example, I think most young people are not interested enough in what the politicians are claiming to in their campaign. Most politician talks about health care, better economy, and external relations. These topics do not seem interesting to young people because in most cases they have not been in a situations where they needed any of those, for example, in most cases senior people need health care, middle age group need to worry about the economy because they need to feed their kids, and authorities need to worry about external affairs. SWOT ANALYSIS OF INTERNET PROVIDER INDUSTRY A SWOT analysis helps the companies or industry to analyse and understand where the industry should place itself in the market, how they can improve and how to defeat their competitors. With the SWOT analysis, a business understands its competitor s position in the market or industry and identifies where the funds and resources of the company should be invested so as to create new products and services for the consumers (Aimee, 2010). Thus before conducting the SWOT analysis, we will divide the ISP s into four groups: large ISP s, small ISP s, Telco and cable companies STRENGTHS In the Internet Provider Industry, the large or big companies have much more experience of the industry in comparison to small ISP s. Consumers who are aware of these larger branded names will subscribe to such known companies. Large ISPs have the ability of innovation; they can afford taking risks. • 14. Shortcoming Of Education The Shortcomings of Education The American system of education is failing to develop critical thinking in children while also teaching them to be dependent and submissive to a higher authority. In this system, American children are being viewed as educational machines in a social hierarchy where they are at the bottom while also only being taught surface level information of any subject. American education instills in children a mentality where children have a fear of failure, lack confidence, have no passion for learning, while also losing their independence and ability to problem solve. All these issues which come from our education system lead to lower test scores compared to other developed countries and the eventual slowdown of economic progress. In America, children are trained to absorb information given by teachers and recall it at a later date regardless of whether they understand the concept or not. As stated by Freire, The student records, memorizes and repeats these phrases without perceiving what four times four really means or realizing the true significance of capital in the affirmation the capital of ParГЎ is BelГ©m. (Freire 244) This system promotes surface level understanding of concepts and punishes those who either cannot recall information or would go explore different concepts for the answer. The educational system is very rigid not allowing students to diverge from the educational path that has been set for them. This also prevents students from

In class taking the three different learning style inventories I noticed that I came out to have some results that were really realistic and fit me and my learning style in class as well as the way I enjoy to teach others. The three Learning Stylestests we took included Howard Gardner s Multiple Intelligences theory, The traditional learningstyle inventory, and lastly, the DISC model theory. Together I think these three devices really helped me understand the way I learn much more effectively as well as ways to identify, teach, and adapt my teaching style to best fit other learning styles. With Verbal Linguistic being my most prominent and noticeable learning theory without taking the quiz I believe that this stems back from when I was younger and how my mother planted the love of reading into my childhood. Something new I learned from this learning theory inventory was that I am also a Musical learner, which I wasn t really expecting. Much like most teens my age, I enjoy listening to music and singing along, but I never really thought about how much music affects my learning. Now after taking

There are some posts that are aimed more towards newer fans, such as Poirot Reading Order for fans who want to know where to start reading her Poirot stories, or to make sure they don t read a book that spoils another book they have not yet read. I chose an article on Agatha Christie herself, The Secrets of Agatha Christie by John Curran, as I imagine readers would be interested in her and why she was successful. The movie review on Murder on the Orient Express by Leigh Paatsch was a relevant choice as the film has released in theatres recently so I looked for a mostly positive review for the publication. And I chose the novel recipe by Kate Young as a fun and interesting post, perhaps for the bigger Christie fans who knew every detail of her books, or just for fans who wanted to try a bit of cooking. I edited the directions of the recipe so that it was easier to understand and follow since I imagined the audience were probably not dedicated chefs. I divided them into much smaller steps and categorised the steps for legibility and ease of reading on the screen. For example, Making the Ice Cream became its own heading. Because this is a publication on the internet, I also envisaged a more international audience and I edited the material to suit this purpose. Cling film is used in the UK, so I

To achieve its potential for solid growth, Islamic finance must improve number of areas including: improving regulatory supervision in the industry, adaptation of tax treatment to Islamic banking products, establishing liquidity control, introducing risk management tools, supporting standardization of financial products and others. Prasad (2015) mentions necessity of protection of investments accounts, regulation in relation to Islamic contracts and treatment of investments accounts and risk management. He also highlights liquidity, as the critical issue. There is a lack of management instruments in central banks to manage liquidity in Islamic banks. The Sukuk market is expected to continue to expand very rapidly, and its development will give Islamic banks access to the high quality liquid assets needed to comply with international liquidity standards. Tax regulation is needed in countries which have only regulations for conventional finance system, because some of Islamic products can face double taxation from their nature, especially investment income from Sukuks. There is also problem with multilayered transactions, which can cause higher taxation. All these taxation aspects may put Islamic finance at a disadvantage. The recent global financial crisis highlighted the importance of policymakers in responding system wide to risks

How the Character of Macbeth Changes Between Act I Scene iii, and Act III Scene I Shakespeare uses many different methods to show that Macbeth changes greatly between Act I Scene iii and Act III Scene i, these include his use of language in speeches and directional action. Banquo s reaction in Act I Scene iii shows that Macbeth is initially afraid of the prophecy. Macbeth s own speech indicates that he is unsure of the truth in what he has been told, but is both intrigued and excited by the thought of becoming king, however, he is confused by his inner thoughts of murder and deceit. The phrase seem to fear, shows us that Macbeths expression betrays the fact that he is shocked and in awe of what the witches have said. ==================================================================== In Act I, Scene iii, Macbeth is still acting friendly to Banquo, even though he is starting to perceive him as a threat. This is shown by the two quotes, My thought, whose murder yet is but fantastical, and, till then, come friends. The words, My thoughts, and, yet is but fantastical, indicate that he is thinking about murder, but as yet does not know why and that he is deciding not to act upon his thoughts yet, but to leave them to fate. The phrase, Come friends, shows that he is still acting friendly to the other characters, when we know that he is really dwelling on the thought of murder. ==================================================================== However, in Act III Scene i, Macbeth s desperation to remain king has grown, and his friendship with Banquo is coming second place to him being king. This is shown by the quote, upon my head they placed a fruitless crown, and put a barren sceptre in my grip. The

  • 25. Goodbye to All That Analytical Essay A Fair City I could speak of Joan Didion s use of rhetorical devices. I could describe every subtle simile she imposes and preach of her incredible use of personification, but I think the most important piece of the essay would, then, be neglected. In Goodbye to All That, Didion compares her experiences in New York to the occurrences at a fair. This metaphor is discussed in a very roundabout way. Ultimately, though, Didion (like anybody) grew tired and dissatisfied with the fair (in her case NYC). Fairs lure people in through the gates with bright lights, loud buzzers, and exhilarating games. These same tactics help to attract tourists to New York City. Like a kid at a fair, Didion becomes enticed by such distractions and cannot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She admits, Even that late in the game I still liked going to parties, all parties, bad parties (p.687). The connection to the fair in this case stems from a child s ability to be so keyed up and eager to play as many games as they can, that they will even play games they do not like. Bad games (Intentional fragment). This view and interest of the city, this time at the fair, ends. The ending is not a definite point in time, but instead a gradual distaste for the details. Like the same child at the same fair, at the same time, every year, Didion outgrows the city and is no longer intrigued. She states, I stopped believing in new faces (p.687) and realizes, It is distinctively possible to stay too long at the Fair (p.687). She cannot stand the identical conversations at Grand Central, the stuck up women on Madison Ave., Times Square, or the New York Public Library. Eventually, Didion avoids these places. Like a boy who has outgrown the annual fair, she promises to return after a six month leave of absence. Three years after Didion made that promise, she finds herself returning to the fair. Back in New York, she realizes her acquaintances are no more and her friends had moved. She states, We stayed for ten days, and then we took the afternoon flight back to Los Angeles (p.688). Boys, a couple years removed from the correct age for attending the fair, promise to return. Sometimes they do return and sometimes they do not. Like Didion did, they

Thanksgiving is a time where you get your whole family together and spend time with each other. During your time together, you reminisce about hilariously weird memories and laugh at all of the amazingly fun times you guys have had together. Also, you feast and make more memories that you will have with you forever! When your with whoever s house you go to, you get to be you and not worry about what anyone thinks because you know your familyloves you the way you are. Writing this essay could make you have an open mind about others and how different we celebrate our holiday. Most of my peers and I eat the same thing. Some things are Turkey, Mashed Potatoes, and Mac n Cheese. More things we all eat in common is Ham, Stuffing, and Green Bean Casserole, and ect. Also, we all have pies and something to do with vegetables. Not everyone has the same type of thing but have something to do with one thing. Although, the main courses of our food is the same with most people. Everyone has at most three things the same whether it s a type of pie or actual food, they are the same. About six, maybe more, are different than what we eat. One thing is dumplings, not everyone eats dumplings. Green Beans, cheese and cracker platter, chips and dip, and French Silk Pie are all more examples of what we eat differently than others. For Thanksgiving, some have seven pies or they have one pie, or we have pecan pie and someone else has apple pie. We all have different qualities of certain food depending on who like it. Making some new food this year would be a great idea, because you don t know if you like it or not, and you won t know unless you try it. The activities we do inside are different, some play video games or watch football or basketball. My family along with many others play board games and reminisce over our most prized and favorite memories. Also our behavior around each other is kind and caring because we care about one another. Some families fight or try and talk over each other because we wanna talk or we just don t get along in general. My favorite thing to do during Thanksgiving or any

However, while the German army aided in preventing the success of communist uprisings and the strong right wing situations that prevented the attacks on the right wing assaults, Weimar militarism was a key contributing factor to increasing political chaos surrounding the final moments of the Weimar democracy. However, methods of relieving pain, inducing drowsiness, and provoking stupor, have been used all over the world since the beginning of ancient civilizations. Plants like opium, cannabis, and mandragora were used in ancient times as drugs that relived general and procedural pain. There are ancient Chinese legends like Pien ch iao and Hua T o, whose stories resemble early ideas of anesthesia. Pien Ch iao was said to have used anesthesia to perform heart transplants. James Moore s book in 1784, A Method of Diminishing Pain in Several Operations of Surgery dealt with properties of anesthesia. He was a military surgeon, and successfully provided nerve compression as an effective anesthetic technique before 1846. By placing pressure on sciatic, obturator, and the crural nerves, the leg could be entirely numbed. Anesthesia by deadly levels of intoxication was also applied as an anesthetic technique. However, this was highly unsuccessful and proved to be more harmful than effective. Wardrop and John Syng Dorsey noted anesthesia by exsanguination. They supported this method of anesthesia as they realized that exsanguination produced a state of syncope, which allowed them to successfully perform surgical procedures with an absence of patient discomfort.. Their findings are seen in some case histories. One noted a 50 year old man with a dislocated hip. He was successfully induced into a state of syncope via puncturing of his vein for bloodletting. 34 ounces of blood was removed from this man. A combination of blood loss, a warm bath, and antimony tartrate, caused a temporary loss of consciousness; during this unconscious state the hip was reduced. • 32. Analysis Of Honour Killing By Imtiaz Dharker Poetry: Honour Killing Textual Commentary Honour killing is a poem written by Imtiaz Dharker which depicts the struggles of women within countries in the middle east that oppress women whether it be verbally or physically, and Dharker being a Pakistani woman expressed her views through this piece of work. An honour killing is the act of taking someone s life who has disrespected themselves and their family, an example of this is a Pakistani woman who was shot by her family because she wanted to divorce the man she was with. The true difference between a western culture and a middle eastern culture can be shown in the fact that the Pakistani senate refused to condemn what happened to this woman and deemed it an honour killing. The poem is an outcry for freedom for woman who are being oppressed and kept down by cultural ideas within the countries which commit these acts. The main objective of this poem is to illustrate how woman within middle eastern countries (possibly more of the world) are kept down by certain aspects of society such as cultural aspects or religious aspects, Dharker wanted to bring this issue into the light through means of poetry. A concept which most people around the world want to have is patriotism as it shows loyalty to a country and also represents a home, however a rather large perception throughout the poem is a sense of wanting to strip away the patriotism. The first time Dharker represents the notion of wanting to be rid of a society s expectations is in the line I m taking off this veil, this black veil of a faith The woman who is speaking here is describing taking off her veil which in some middle eastern countries can be an offence to religious beliefs; the poem shows that women within these countries feel like they are being forced into situations which aren t fair to them, for example honour killings. The way Dharker writes is to inform the audience of serious issues which are more than relevant in modern society, she wants to make the reader see how women are treated differently and how they need to strip away at their own beliefs just to feel like they can fit in when they should be able to fit in no matter where they are living. Individuality also plays a role in what

Nonetheless, it is also imperative to consider how white supremacists such as the KKK fought to undo the important developments. • 41. Japanese Occupation of Borneo In 1941, the Second World War broke out in the pacific region. As it was a principal plays of war between the Allied and Japan in the Pacific Region, it was named as Pacific Ocean Theater. To be the superior in the Pacific Region, the Japanese need to posses resources in order to have a sufficient supply demand to stay in the war. Particularly, the Japanese needs oil resources. As it was for oil resources that their wanted to posses, Borneo became the main target for Japan. In addition according to Gordon (2000) in August 1940, Japanese Prime Minister Matsuoka Yosuke formed an imperial concept of the Greater East Asia Co prosperity Sphere where they are trying to create a self contained community of Asian nations led by the Japanese, for which the Asian nation will share the prosperity and peace and liberating Asians from Western colonialism. However, when their mission accomplished, the concept in theory differs from the reality as they manipulated the colonies for their own imperial benefits. In these essays, it will discuss about the Japanese Occupation of Borneo with particular references to Brunei. Aside from possessing the resources to be superior in the Pacific Region, the Japanese also needed to claim the territories under British colonies to be one. The Japanese occupation plan is basically seizing British territories to literally weaken the British strength. The invasion of Brunei in some way accomplished the mission. As the British were defeated to Japanese

The movie first published in 1967. Well, the movie is pretty good in my opinion. The Actor and the story are great as well. The movie is pretty close to the book, which I liked a lot. But it skipped some small parts of the book, like Ponyboy got jumped by soc at the start of the book. The story of this book is great too, It basically talked about the story of Ponyboy curtis(main character), and his greaser friend fought for their rival gang: socs. And struggles with right and wrong in a society. Talk about the actors, I think they are perfect for the movie. C. Thomas Howell for ponyboy,
  • 43. Argumentative Essay On Immigration Law Immigration is such a complicated topic. I really didn t realize everything that went into it until I got to college and was able to vote myself. Although I have written thousands of words on this topic, I still am unsure if I can for certain say that I completely agree with one side of the argument or the other. What I do believe is the fact that immigrationis a touchy issue, especially within the United States, and each case should be looked at differently. My first source I talked about was an article I found on the internet called, Top Ten Reasons for Enforcing America s Immigration Laws . This article was written by Frosty Wooldridge and promoted the idea of a more enacted immigration law in the United States. Wooldridge promoted 10 different reasons why he so strongly believed that these immigration laws should be strictly followed. Wooldridge believed that it s time to raise the American standard of living. The real minimum wage in the United States has been dropping for more than an entire decade. Some people believe that we need to raise the minimum wage, but then this would lead to raising to price of illegal laborers above our free market value. This would then result in a huge amount of mass unemployment. This I agree with. American citizens are the ones suffering when it comes to illegal workers getting paid under the table. Wooldridge also stated that we as America, would be creating over ten million new jobs for United States citizens. I agree with this
  • 44. Why Was Marilyn Monroe Conspiracy Remembered as the elegant blond red lipped bombshell iconic singer, actress and sex symbol of the 1950s. Her talent and legacy is still carried on by her highly legendary pop painting by Andy Warhol and influential flying skirt photos. But some remember her tragic death the most. Her name was Marilyn Monroe. She was only 36 when she was found face down dead in her Los Angeles home on August 5th 1962. The official coronas report stated that Hollywood s face had gone through a probable suicide by swallowing 40 barbiturates which caused her stomach line to haemorrhage intensely enough that she couldn t last long enough for the ambulance to arrive. But was this the full story? Multiple voices including Clemens the first police officer in the scene... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was not worded out to the public but almost everyone knew for certain that Marilyn had affairs with both John and Robert Kennedy. Apparently Robert Kennedy told Marilyn that he would never marry her this brought deep depression into Marilyn s life which lead to her threatening to come out with the affairs with him and his brother which she had kept track in a diary. The Kennedy s repeatedly demanded Marilyn to live them alone and give in her diary which Marilyn denied to do. Robert felt dethroned and anguished so he told Greenson who apparently also had an affair with Marilyn that she was going to tell the public about their affair as well. Greenson didn t want his reputation to fade so he agreed to help Robert. Then moments later the pair who was accompanied by two body guards and Peter Lawford barged into Marilyn s house. Marilyn was unable to defend herself since one of the guards had injected nembutal to calm her down this however made her collapse on the floor. One bodyguard tore her clothes then injected an enema to stage out a suicide. While the other men scattered across her house in order to find her diary. Later on Eunice had found Marilyn s dead

Filmed in 1976, the movie encompasses the story of reporters Bob Woodward (Robert Redford) and Carl Bernstein (Dustin Hoffman) from The Washington Post as they try to uncover vital details about the scandal. To keep an engaging audience, Pakula starts his film off with an eerie and controversial scene that portrays a guard ripping off a piece of tape that has been placed in between the door frame. With proper background knowledge and further research into the Watergate scandal, the viewer is able to tell that there are some brief exaggerations. Similar to the film s reporters, in today s world, news reporters are always trying to get the next best story. They will do anything and everything possible to get the truth behind a hot story. Many famous people now a days can t walk a few steps without being bombarded by the media. Everything celebrities say or do is noted by the media and usually gets leaked to the public very quickly. In comparison to the time period and media of the 70 s, in today s world we are able to pretty much get any information on almost anyone at any given time. The levels of privacy have gone down due to the media engagement and the advancement of technology. The activeness of today s media can be similar to that of the five thief s trying to place recording devices in the Democratic Party s headquarters. With every news story, any piece of information can be blown out of proportion and altered to appeal to a bigger audience. This is just a mere effect from the ever changing world we live in

I have always been interested in history and the lessons from the past that still affect us in the present (and will affect us in the future). After clicking through the website, I saw an array of interesting topics that can certainly help the educator and shape the classroom. I wanted to see if the website itself was user friendly for I find that it s easy to lose interest if the site you re on has distracting pop ups or have links that do not work. On top of the Webinars, there are also links to the programs that bring Museum staff to communities nationwide, such as the Smithsonian s Let s Do History Tour , where the staff visit school district nationwide to share effective, exciting teaching techniques and K 12 resources free of charge (Smithsonian). If given the opportunity, a school district s educators can interact and learn from the Museum staff directly with regards to the available resources from the Museum s site. This can enhance the history educators expertise on the subjects they teach; they can see hands on how they can use these very resources in their classroom and they can ask questions to the staff to ensure the effectiveness of the materials and frameworks they are presented. Another example of a resource found on this page, If You Walked in My Shoes teaching poster presents the students with the who, what, where, when, why and how of object investigation and the personal stories associated with the history of the pairs of shoes in the Museum s collection (Smithsonian). The company of my choice is EnQuest PLC, the largest UK independent oil producer in the UK North Sea. 1.About The Model Porter s Five Forces model is designed to assess the attractiveness of an industry based on the actual or potential competition through the following five forces: Rivalry Among Existing Competitors; Threat of New Entrants; Bargaining Power of Buyers; Bargaining Power of Suppliers; Threat of Substitute Products or Services (Johnson et al., 2014). The framework is a holistic approach to analysing any industry and is based on the principle that the stronger the five forces are, the less attractive it is to compete. Hence, high threat of new entrants and substitutes combined with high bargaining power of buyers and suppliers diminishes industry profitability (Porter 2008). 1.1 Advantages Historically, the Five Forces Framework has
