This document discusses the Kingdom of Christ as presented in the Bible. It begins by examining the Old Testament prophecies of the Messiah's role as priest, prophet and king. Jesus fulfilled these prophecies. The document then examines passages from the Gospels where Jesus preaches about the Kingdom of God and uses parables to teach about it. It discusses how the Beatitudes and Jesus' miracles show the presence of the Kingdom. It concludes that the Kingdom will be definitively established by the cross of Christ.

THE PREACHING
OF CHRIST

“After John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee
preaching the Gospel of God and saying:The time is
fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is near; convert
and believe in the Gospel” (Mk 1, 14-15).

9. “He went through all Galilee, teaching in the synagogues,
preaching the gospel of the kingdom and healing the
people from all sickness and disease” (Mt 4:23).

“Seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness”(Mat 6:33).

11. “Surely, I say to you, unless you change yourselves and become like little children, you
will not enterin the kingdom of heaven; because whoever humbles himself to becomeas
one of these children, he will be the greatest in the kingdom of heaven ”(Mt 18, 1-4).

"If by the finger of God I cast out devils, surely
the kingdom of God has come to you” (Lk 11:20).

violence and the brave win it” (Mt 11,22).

yours; and all that is mine is yours, and all that is yours is mine; and in them I have been

like us. ... I do not ask you to remove them from the world, but to keep them
from the Evil One. They are not of the world, as I am not of the world.
Sanctify them in the truth: your word is truth» (Jn 17, 9-11.15-17)

17. PARABLES OF
THE KINGDOM

18. The parables are like a mirror for man: does he
accept the word like hard ground or like good
ground? What do you do with the talents received?

19. Jesus and the presence of the Kingdom in this world are secretly
at the heart of the parables. For those who are "outside", the
teaching of the parables is somewhat enigmatic. CIC 546

20. It is necessary to enter the Kingdom, that is, to become a disciple of
Christ in order to"know the Mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven" (Mt 13:11).

21. The Word of God is compared to a seed sown in the field:
those who listen with faith and join the little flock of Christ
have welcomed the Kingdom; then the seed, by itself,
germinates and grows until harvest time. CCC 543

of the Kingdom

24. “The kingdom of heaven is like
the one who sowed good seed in
his field. But while his people
slept, the enemy came and
sowed tares among the wheat
andhe left ”(Mt 13, 24-25).

25. In the parable of the sower he says about what was sown
by the roadside: "The evil one comes and takes him away,
he takes away what was sown in his heart" (Mt 13:19).

26. The Kingdom, which will then be like a dragnet (cf. Mt 13, 47ff),
will collect everything, but the angels "will separate the wicked
from the righteous and throw them into the fiery furnace".

27. THE BEATITUDES

28. The beatitudes are at the center of the preaching of Jesus. With them, Jesus
collects the promises made to the chosen people since Abraham; but he perfects
them by ordering them not only to the possession of a land, but to the Kingdom
of heaven: Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.

29. Blessed are those who are persecuted for the sake of justice, because theirs is the Kingdom
of Heaven.CCC1716 Hope is the theological virtue by which we aspire to the Kingdom of
Heaven and eternal life as our happiness, placing our trust in the promises of Christ and
leaning not on our strength, but on the help of the grace of the Holy Spirit. CIC 1817

30. Jesus, from the
manger to the cross,
shares the life of the
poor; he knows
hunger, thirst and
deprivation. Even
more: he identifies
himself with the poor
of all kinds and makes
active love for them
the condition for
entering his
Kingdom. CIC 544

31. The Kingdom belongs to the poor and the little ones, that is,
those who welcome him with a humble heart. Jesus was
sent to "announce the Good News to the poor (Lk 4,18).

32. He declares them blessed because for "them is the Kingdom of
heaven"(Mt 5.3); it is to the "little ones" that the Father has deigned
to reveal the things that he has hidden from the wise and prudent

to the "Kingdom of

34. It is addressed to those who are willing to
welcome this new hope with faith: the poor, the
humble, the afflicted, the pure of heart, those
persecuted because of Christ, thus tracing the
surprising paths of the Kingdom. The detachment
of riches is necessary to enter the Kingdom of
Heaven. "Blessed are the poor in heart" CIC 1556

35. MIRACLES – SIGNS OF THE KINGDOM

36. Christ's compassion for the sick and his numerous healings of all kinds of sufferers
are a wonderful sign that "God has visited his people" (Lk 7:16) and that the
Kingdom of God is very close. -Jesus not only has the power to heal, but also to
forgive sins: he came to heal the whole man, soul and body; CIC 1503

37. Jesus accompanies
his words with
numerous "miracles,
wonders and signs"
(Acts 2,22) that show
thatthe Kingdom is
present in Him.
They testify that
Jesus is the
announced Messiah.
The signs that Jesus
performs testify that
the Father has sent
him. CCC547

38. They invite you to believe in Jesus. He grants what is asked of those who
come to him in faith. Therefore, miracles strengthen faith in the One who
does the works of his Father: these testify that he is the Son of God. CIC 548

39. The coming of
the Kingdom of
God is the defeat
of the kingdom
of Satan: "But
if by the Spirit
of God I cast out
demons, then
the Kingdom of
God has come
upon you"
(Mt 12:28).

40. By the Cross of Christ the Kingdom of God will be definitively established:
"Regnavit a ligno Deus", "God reigned from the wood of the Cross" CIC 220
