“Let him deny himself, & take up
his cross, & follow me.” (Mt
16:24)
MARTURIA: NT
 Ac 1:8 – But you will receive power when the
Holy Spirit comes on you; & you will be my
witnesses in Jerusalem, & in all Judea &
Samaria, & to the ends of the earth.”
 What are we witnessing?
 What is the importance of the witness?
“The Matrix is all around you. You feel it when
you go to church, when you pay your taxes.”
“If you want to know the truth, take the red
pill.”
– Morpheus, The Matrix
What does it mean to be a truth-teller?
Ahab...ruled for 22 years in Samaria ...
– did what the LORD considered evil
– worse than all the kings before him
– built the temple of Baal in Samaria
– set up an altar there
– made poles dedicated to the goddess Asherah
– made the LORD more furious than all the kings
before him.
– 1 Kings 16:29-33ff
Elijah, who was from Tishbe but had settled in
Gilead, said to Ahab, “I solemnly swear, as the
LORD God of Israel whom I serve lives, there
will be no dew or rain during the next few years
unless I say so.”
– 1 Kings 17:1
Elijah left & did what the word of the LORD had
told him .
– 1 Kings 17:5
“I solemnly swear, as the LORD your God lives,
my master has searched for you in every region
& kingdom.”
– 1 Kings 18:10
A while later in the third year of the drought,
the LORD spoke his word to Elijah: “Present
yourself to Ahab. I will allow rain to fall on the
ground.” So Elijah went to present himself to
Ahab.
– 1 Kings 18:1-2
Elijah said, “I solemnly swear, as the LORD of
Armies whom I serve lives, I will present myself
to Ahab.”
– 1 Kings 18:15
Ahab said, “Is that you, you troublemaker of
Israel?”
Elijah answered, “I haven’t troubled Israel. You
& your father’s family have done it by
disobeying the LORD’s commands & following
the various Baal gods.”
– 1 Kings 18:16-19
Jesus’ Purpose = Church’s Purpose
 Because the church has no life outside of
Christ, the head of the Church, then it has no
purpose other than His purpose.
 What is Jesus’ purpose?.
1. To build His Church
 Mt 16:17-19 – Jesus replied, “Blessed are
you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not
revealed to you by flesh & blood, but by my
Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are
Peter, & on this rock I will build my church, &
the gates of death will not overcome it. I will
give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven;
whatever you bind on earth will be bound in
heaven, & whatever you loose on earth will
be loosed in heaven.”.
2. To preach the Good News
 Lu 4:43 – But he said, “I must proclaim the
good news of the kingdom of God to the
other towns also, because that is why I was
sent.”.
3. To disciple the nations
 Mt 28:18-20 – Then Jesus came to them &
said, “All authority in heaven & on earth has
been given to me. Therefore go & make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father & of the Son & of the
Holy Spirit, & teaching them to obey
everything I have commanded you. And
surely I am with you always, to the very end
of the age.”.
4. To Transform Communities
 Re 11:15 – The seventh angel sounded his
trumpet, & there were loud voices in heaven,
which said: “The kingdom of the world has
become the kingdom of our Lord & of his
Messiah, & he will reign for ever & ever.”.
Definition
 Maturia is making disciples of all nations by
teaching the truth about Jesus Christ (who he
is, what he came to do, & how to connect to
him).
Definition
 The result of making disciples is a transform-
ed individual life, a transformed community &
culture (a new kingdom-based value system),
& a Christianity that effectively deals with
Structural Evil.
 Ang resulta ng paghubog ng mga alagad ay
isang buhay na may pagbabago, sa
kumunidad at kultura (ang bagong
mahalagang systema na batayan sa
kaharian) at isang Kristianismo na mabisa sa
Structural Evil.
Definition
 Marturia is advancing the cause of Jesus
Christ by bearing witness to the transform-
ation the Good News brings.
 Marturia ay pagsulong sa layunin ni
Jesucristo sa pamamagitan ng pagpapakita
ng pagbabago na dala ng Mabuting Balita.
Definition
 Marturia then ultimately is about culture
transformation, first to challenge current
views of truth, then telling the culture about
Jesus truth..
 Marturia ay tungkol sa pagbabago ng kultura,
una para subukan ang kasalukuyan pananaw
ng katotohanan, at sabihin ang katotohanan
tungkol kay Jesus.
The church is both present & future
 Mt 16:18 – And I tell you that you are Peter,
& on this rock I will build my church, & the
gates of death will not overcome it..
The church …
 … is a people “whose life is informed by the
confident expectation that God is bringing in
a new regime & that they are already allowed
to taste its fruits.” ..
 Ay isang lahi na ang buhay nila ay pinaalam
sa mananalig na inaasahan na dadalhin ng
Diyos ang bagong panahon at puwede nila
tinitikman ang bunga niyan ngayon.

CHURCH
The Church is “God’s provisional
demonstration of his intention for
all humanity.”
Ang simbahan ay
“pansamantalang
pagpapatotoo ng Diyos sa
kanyang layunin sa lahat ng
mga tao.” – Karl Barth
Person vs Work
 Christology can be divided into 2 parts:
– The person of Jesus
– The work of Jesus
 Which precedes the other?
 How does this influence the function of the church?.
Person vs Work: Views
 Reformed thinkers
– Look first at his person & then examine his work
 Lutherans
– Look at his work & from their build on his person
 Balance
– The 2 are so related that to separate them would
be meaningless..
Our Response
 Theme #1
– Jesus is Lord & demands believers to be Christ-
like
 a life of contemplation & prayer – a life of growing in
His Word, being constantly filled with His Spirit, &
being in obedience to His will.
 Key Question
– How will my experience with Jesus influence my
personal life?
 This is Discipleship..
Our Response
 Theme #2
– It is necessary for believers to do missions.
 holistic ministry as the ongoing vocation of the church
& individual believers.
 Key Question
– How will my experience with Jesus influence my
view of the world?
 This is Missions..
Theme #1: Radical Discipleship
Masugid na Pakikipag-alagad
1. Believers must become mature.
– Ep 4:13 – … until we all reach unity in the faith
& in the knowledge of the Son of God &
become mature, attaining to the whole measure
of the fullness of Christ.
– 1Co 1:6 – You became imitators of us & of the
Lord, for you welcomed the message in the
midst of severe suffering with the joy given by
the Holy Spirit..
Theme #1: Radical Discipleship
Masugid na Pakikipag-alagad
2. Believers must imitate Christ.
 “To become a Christian is to begin the process,
not so much of conforming, as of being
conformed, to Christ. It is not so much we who
are active, as God who is active, in this
process.” – Alister McGrath, A Passion For Truth
Theme #1: Radical Discipleship
Masugid na Pakikipag-alagad
3. Believers must live a life of growth in the
Word of God & dependence on the HS
– Col 3:16 – let the word of Christ richly dwell
within you
– Jo 16:13 – But when he, the Spirit of truth,
comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He
will not speak on his own; he will speak only
what he hears, & he will tell you what is yet to
come.
– 2Ti 3:16-17 – training in righteousness; that the
man of God may be adequate, equipped for
every good work..
Theme #1: Radical Discipleship
Masugid na Pakikipag-alagad
4. Believers must be faithful to their calling
– Heb. 12:1-2 – “… let us throw off everything
that hinders & the sin that so easily entangles.
And let us run with perseverance the race
marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the
author & perfecter of our faith.”.
Theme #1: Radical Discipleship
Masugid na Pakikipag-alagad
 Sukdulang Pakikipag-alagad is more than just
reading your Bible, attending church, &
praying. It transforms your whole life.
– underpinning of democracy
– social ethics
– free market economy
– science
– Education.
Theme #1: Radical Discipleship
Masugid na Pakikipag-alagad
 How has your experience with Jesus
influenced your personal life? Ano bang
epekto ng karanasan mo kay Jesus sa buhay
mo?
 Are you a radical disciple of Jesus? Masugid
na alagad ka ba ni Jesus?.
Theme #2: Missions
1. Commanded by God
– Mt 28:19-20 – Go & make disciples of the
nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father, Son, & Holy Spirit & teaching them all
things that I have commanded you & lo I am
with you to the ends of the earth.
– Jo 20:21 – As the Father has sent Me, so send I
you..
Theme #2: Missions
2. Biblical Theme from OT to NT: Scattered
– Ge 3 – Adam & Eve scattered from the garden
– Ge 6 – The people scattered after Babel
– Mt 24:14 – And God continues to scatter His people
from everywhere to everywhere so that the Gospel of
the Kingdom will be preached to all the world
– Ac 8 – The early Christians scattered as a result of
persecution
 resulted in the spread of the Gospel into Asia Minor
– Col 1 – The mission of the King is to establish His rule &
realm in all the world & creation
– In union with Christ, His mission is our mission..
Adam

Theme #2: Missions
3. Develop Christian culture & values in
societies
– Acts 20:25-27 –I declare to you today that I am
not responsible for the spiritual death of any of
you. I didn’t avoid telling you the whole plan of
God.
– Goal:
 economic sufficiency for all
 social peace
 rulers rule in justice
 there is righteousness & respect for others
 a church planted in every village. ..
Theme #2: Missions
4. Working with God to establish His reign &
realm in whole world
– Re 5:11 – Then I looked & heard the voice of
many angels, numbering thousands upon
thousands, & ten thousand times ten thousand.
They encircled the throne & the living creatures
& the elders.
IF JESUS IS LORD OF THE CHURCH …
1. Obedience to be Christlike
 Be mature (Ep 4:13)
 Be imitators (1Co 1:11)
2. Life of contemplation, prayer,
growing in the Word,
constantly filled with HS,
doing His will
3. Faithful & fruitful in vocational
calling..
1. Doing missions at home &
overseas (Mt 28:19-20)
2. Planting healthy, holistic,
harvesting churches
3. Developing Christian culture &
values in societies
4. Working with God to establish
His reign & realm in whole
world (Re 5:11)..
THEN THE CHURCH MUST:
#1: Radical Discipleship #2: Missions
SUMMARY
 CHURCH IS…
– PRIESTLY − to offer acceptable spiritual sacrifice
of praise & prayer
 Ro 12:1-2 – Therefore, I urge you, brothers & sisters,
in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living
sacrifices, holy & pleasing to God—this is your proper
worship as rational beings. Do not conform to the
pattern of this world, but be transformed by the
renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test &
approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing &
perfect will.
SUMMARY
 CHURCH IS…
– MISSIONARY − to declare to others the
excellencies of their God
 1Pe 2:5, 9-10 – … you also, like living stones, are … to
be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices
acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. … But you are
a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation,
God’s special possession, that you may declare the
praises of him who called you out of darkness into his
wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now
you are the people of God; once you had not received
mercy, but now you have received mercy.

MARTURIA: OT – Words
 EDAH
– testimony patotoo/katunayan, witness saksi
– always plural
– always of laws as divine testimonies
 Ps 119:46 I will also speak of thy testimonies before
kings, & shall not be put to shame.
MARTURIA: OT – Words
 ED
– witness saksi, testimony, evidence [of things]
patotoo/katunayan; witness [of people]
Ex#1: Laban & Jacob [Ge 31]
Now, let’s make an agreement & let it stand as a
witness between you & me.” Jacob took a stone & set
it up as a marker. Then Jacob said to his relatives,
“Gather some stones.” They took stones, put them
into a pile, & ate there by the pile of stones. In his
language Laban called it Jegar Sahadutha, but Jacob
called it Galeed. Laban said, “This pile of stones
stands as a witness between you & me today.” This is
why it was named Galeed & also Mizpah, because he
said, “May the LORD watch between you & me when
we’re unable to see each other. If you mistreat my
daughters or marry other women behind my back, …
Ex#1: Laban & Jacob [Ge 31]
… remember that God stands as a witness between
you & me.” Laban said to Jacob, “Here is the pile of
stones, & here is the marker that I have set up
between you & me. This pile of stones & this marker
stand as witnesses that I will not go past the pile of
stones to harm you, & that you will not go past the
pile of stones or marker to harm me. May the God of
Abraham & Nahor—the God of their father—judge
between us.”
OT Questions
 What is the “testimony”?
 How does it testify?
Ex#2: Israel [Deuteronomy 6]
Listen, Israel: … Take to heart these words that I give
you today. Repeat them to your children. Talk about
them when you’re at home or away, when you lie
down or get up. Write them down, & tie them around
your wrist, & wear them as headbands as a reminder.
Write them on the doorframes of your houses & on
your gates.… Be sure to obey the commands of the
LORD your God & the regulations & laws he has given
you.… your children will ask you, “What do these
regulations, laws, & rules which the LORD our God
commanded you mean to you?” Tell them, “We were
Pharaoh’s slaves in Egypt, but the LORD used his
mighty hand to bring us out of there. Right before our
eyes the LORD did miraculous …
Ex#2: Israel [Deuteronomy 6]
… signs & amazing things that were spectacular but
terrible for Egypt, Pharaoh, & his whole family. The
LORD led us out of there to bring us here & give us
this land he promised to our ancestors with an oath.
The LORD our God commanded us to obey all these
laws & to fear him. These laws are for our own good
as long as we live so that he will preserve our lives.
It’s still true today. This is how we’ll have the LORD’s
approval: If we faithfully obey all these laws in the
presence of the LORD our God, as he has commanded
us.”
OT Questions
 What is the testimony?
 How does it testify?
OT Conclusion
 Testimony/Witness is …
1. Some kind of a standard or memorial or
statement made that helps us remember
truth
 Wedding Ring
2. Often tied in with the Law of God as part of
the requirements that we must keep
 “Don’t forget the evidence God has given you
regarding his nature.”
MARTURIA: NT Words

 Someone who sees a crime committed
– Mk 14:55-56,59 – Now the chief priests & the
whole council sought testimony against Jesus to
put him to death; but they found none. For many

did not agree…. Yet not even so did their
testimony agree.
– Lu 22:71 – And they said, "What further
testimony do we need? We have heard it
ourselves from his own lips."

seen & heard, yet no one receives his testimony;
he who receives his testimony sets his seal to this,
that God is true.
MARTURIA: NT

witness to these things, & who has written these
things; & we know that his testimony is true.
MARTURIA: NT
 Statements made regarding what is true
– 1Jn 5:9-11 – If we receive the testimony of men,
the testimony of God is greater; for this is the
testimony of God that he has borne witness to
his Son. He who believes in the Son of God has
the testimony in himself. He who does not believe
God has made him a liar, because he has not
believed in the testimony that God has borne to
his Son. And this is the testimony, that God gave
us eternal life, & this life is in his Son.
MARTURIA: NT

blood of the Lamb & by the word of their
testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto
death.
– Re 20:4 – Then I saw thrones, & seated on them
were those to whom judgment was committed.
Also I saw the souls of those who had been
beheaded for their testimony to Jesus & for the
word of God, & who had not worshiped the beast
or its image & had not received its mark on their
foreheads or their hands. They came to life, &
reigned with Christ 1000 years.
MARTURIA: NT
 Sometimes the truth can be seen in our
actions, not just our words
– Jo 10:25 – Jesus answered them, "I told you, &
you do not believe. The works that I do in my
Father’s name, they bear witness to me;

  • 1.
  • 2. “Let him deny himself, & take up his cross, & follow me.” (Mt 16:24)
  • 3. MARTURIA: NT  Ac 1:8 – But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; & you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, & in all Judea & Samaria, & to the ends of the earth.”  What are we witnessing?  What is the importance of the witness?
  • 4. “The Matrix is all around you. You feel it when you go to church, when you pay your taxes.” “If you want to know the truth, take the red pill.” – Morpheus, The Matrix What does it mean to be a truth-teller?
  • 5. Ahab...ruled for 22 years in Samaria ... – did what the LORD considered evil – worse than all the kings before him – built the temple of Baal in Samaria – set up an altar there – made poles dedicated to the goddess Asherah – made the LORD more furious than all the kings before him. – 1 Kings 16:29-33ff
  • 6. Elijah, who was from Tishbe but had settled in Gilead, said to Ahab, “I solemnly swear, as the LORD God of Israel whom I serve lives, there will be no dew or rain during the next few years unless I say so.” – 1 Kings 17:1 Elijah left & did what the word of the LORD had told him . – 1 Kings 17:5 “I solemnly swear, as the LORD your God lives, my master has searched for you in every region & kingdom.” – 1 Kings 18:10
  • 7. A while later in the third year of the drought, the LORD spoke his word to Elijah: “Present yourself to Ahab. I will allow rain to fall on the ground.” So Elijah went to present himself to Ahab. – 1 Kings 18:1-2 Elijah said, “I solemnly swear, as the LORD of Armies whom I serve lives, I will present myself to Ahab.” – 1 Kings 18:15
  • 8. Ahab said, “Is that you, you troublemaker of Israel?” Elijah answered, “I haven’t troubled Israel. You & your father’s family have done it by disobeying the LORD’s commands & following the various Baal gods.” – 1 Kings 18:16-19
  • 9.
  • 10. Jesus’ Purpose = Church’s Purpose  Because the church has no life outside of Christ, the head of the Church, then it has no purpose other than His purpose.  What is Jesus’ purpose?.
  • 11. 1. To build His Church  Mt 16:17-19 – Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh & blood, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, & on this rock I will build my church, & the gates of death will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, & whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”.
  • 12. 2. To preach the Good News  Lu 4:43 – But he said, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.”.
  • 13. 3. To disciple the nations  Mt 28:18-20 – Then Jesus came to them & said, “All authority in heaven & on earth has been given to me. Therefore go & make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father & of the Son & of the Holy Spirit, & teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”.
  • 14. 4. To Transform Communities  Re 11:15 – The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, & there were loud voices in heaven, which said: “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord & of his Messiah, & he will reign for ever & ever.”.
  • 15. Definition  Maturia is making disciples of all nations by teaching the truth about Jesus Christ (who he is, what he came to do, & how to connect to him).  Marturia ay ang paghubog ng mga alagad sa bawat nation sa pamamagitan ng pagturo ng katotohanan tungkol kay Jesucristo (kun g sino siya, ang layunin niya dito, at paano tayo makapag-relate sa kanya).
  • 16. Definition  The result of making disciples is a transform- ed individual life, a transformed community & culture (a new kingdom-based value system), & a Christianity that effectively deals with Structural Evil.  Ang resulta ng paghubog ng mga alagad ay isang buhay na may pagbabago, sa kumunidad at kultura (ang bagong mahalagang systema na batayan sa kaharian) at isang Kristianismo na mabisa sa Structural Evil.
  • 17. Definition  Marturia is advancing the cause of Jesus Christ by bearing witness to the transform- ation the Good News brings.  Marturia ay pagsulong sa layunin ni Jesucristo sa pamamagitan ng pagpapakita ng pagbabago na dala ng Mabuting Balita.
  • 18. Definition  Marturia then ultimately is about culture transformation, first to challenge current views of truth, then telling the culture about Jesus truth..  Marturia ay tungkol sa pagbabago ng kultura, una para subukan ang kasalukuyan pananaw ng katotohanan, at sabihin ang katotohanan tungkol kay Jesus.
  • 19. The church is both present & future  Mt 16:18 – And I tell you that you are Peter, & on this rock I will build my church, & the gates of death will not overcome it..
  • 20. The church …  … is a people “whose life is informed by the confident expectation that God is bringing in a new regime & that they are already allowed to taste its fruits.” ..  Ay isang lahi na ang buhay nila ay pinaalam sa mananalig na inaasahan na dadalhin ng Diyos ang bagong panahon at puwede nila tinitikman ang bunga niyan ngayon.
  • 21. ANG MUNDO May magandang Kinabukasan ang sanlibutan NGAYON KINABUKASAN CHURCH The Church is “God’s provisional demonstration of his intention for all humanity.” Ang simbahan ay “pansamantalang pagpapatotoo ng Diyos sa kanyang layunin sa lahat ng mga tao.” – Karl Barth
  • 22. Person vs Work  Christology can be divided into 2 parts: – The person of Jesus – The work of Jesus  Which precedes the other?  How does this influence the function of the church?.
  • 23. Person vs Work: Views  Reformed thinkers – Look first at his person & then examine his work  Lutherans – Look at his work & from their build on his person  Balance – The 2 are so related that to separate them would be meaningless..
  • 24. Our Response  Theme #1 – Jesus is Lord & demands believers to be Christ- like  a life of contemplation & prayer – a life of growing in His Word, being constantly filled with His Spirit, & being in obedience to His will.  Key Question – How will my experience with Jesus influence my personal life?  This is Discipleship..
  • 25. Our Response  Theme #2 – It is necessary for believers to do missions.  holistic ministry as the ongoing vocation of the church & individual believers.  Key Question – How will my experience with Jesus influence my view of the world?  This is Missions..
  • 26. Theme #1: Radical Discipleship Masugid na Pakikipag-alagad 1. Believers must become mature. – Ep 4:13 – … until we all reach unity in the faith & in the knowledge of the Son of God & become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. – 1Co 1:6 – You became imitators of us & of the Lord, for you welcomed the message in the midst of severe suffering with the joy given by the Holy Spirit..
  • 27. Theme #1: Radical Discipleship Masugid na Pakikipag-alagad 2. Believers must imitate Christ.  “To become a Christian is to begin the process, not so much of conforming, as of being conformed, to Christ. It is not so much we who are active, as God who is active, in this process.” – Alister McGrath, A Passion For Truth
  • 28. Theme #1: Radical Discipleship Masugid na Pakikipag-alagad 3. Believers must live a life of growth in the Word of God & dependence on the HS – Col 3:16 – let the word of Christ richly dwell within you – Jo 16:13 – But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, & he will tell you what is yet to come. – 2Ti 3:16-17 – training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work..
  • 29. Theme #1: Radical Discipleship Masugid na Pakikipag-alagad 4. Believers must be faithful to their calling – Heb. 12:1-2 – “… let us throw off everything that hinders & the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author & perfecter of our faith.”.
  • 30. Theme #1: Radical Discipleship Masugid na Pakikipag-alagad  Sukdulang Pakikipag-alagad is more than just reading your Bible, attending church, & praying. It transforms your whole life. – underpinning of democracy – social ethics – free market economy – science – Education.
  • 31. Theme #1: Radical Discipleship Masugid na Pakikipag-alagad  How has your experience with Jesus influenced your personal life? Ano bang epekto ng karanasan mo kay Jesus sa buhay mo?  Are you a radical disciple of Jesus? Masugid na alagad ka ba ni Jesus?.
  • 32. Theme #2: Missions 1. Commanded by God – Mt 28:19-20 – Go & make disciples of the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, & Holy Spirit & teaching them all things that I have commanded you & lo I am with you to the ends of the earth. – Jo 20:21 – As the Father has sent Me, so send I you..
  • 33. Theme #2: Missions 2. Biblical Theme from OT to NT: Scattered – Ge 3 – Adam & Eve scattered from the garden – Ge 6 – The people scattered after Babel – Mt 24:14 – And God continues to scatter His people from everywhere to everywhere so that the Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached to all the world – Ac 8 – The early Christians scattered as a result of persecution  resulted in the spread of the Gospel into Asia Minor – Col 1 – The mission of the King is to establish His rule & realm in all the world & creation – In union with Christ, His mission is our mission..
  • 34. Adam & Eve Babel To All Nations Before the End Early Church Kingdom over all creation Scattered In union with Christ, His mission is our mission
  • 35. Theme #2: Missions 3. Develop Christian culture & values in societies – Acts 20:25-27 –I declare to you today that I am not responsible for the spiritual death of any of you. I didn’t avoid telling you the whole plan of God. – Goal:  economic sufficiency for all  social peace  rulers rule in justice  there is righteousness & respect for others  a church planted in every village. ..
  • 36. Theme #2: Missions 4. Working with God to establish His reign & realm in whole world – Re 5:11 – Then I looked & heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, & ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne & the living creatures & the elders.
  • 37. IF JESUS IS LORD OF THE CHURCH … 1. Obedience to be Christlike  Be mature (Ep 4:13)  Be imitators (1Co 1:11) 2. Life of contemplation, prayer, growing in the Word, constantly filled with HS, doing His will 3. Faithful & fruitful in vocational calling.. 1. Doing missions at home & overseas (Mt 28:19-20) 2. Planting healthy, holistic, harvesting churches 3. Developing Christian culture & values in societies 4. Working with God to establish His reign & realm in whole world (Re 5:11).. THEN THE CHURCH MUST: #1: Radical Discipleship #2: Missions
  • 38. SUMMARY  CHURCH IS… – PRIESTLY − to offer acceptable spiritual sacrifice of praise & prayer  Ro 12:1-2 – Therefore, I urge you, brothers & sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy & pleasing to God—this is your proper worship as rational beings.
