DOGMATIC CONSTITUTION ON THE CHURCH
LUMEN GENTIUM
SOLEMNLY PROMULGATED BY HIS HOLINESS
POPE PAUL VI
ON NOVEMBER 21, 1964
CHAPTER I
THE MYSTERY OF THE CHURCH
1. Christ is the Light of nations. Because this is so, this Sacred Synod gathered together in the Holy Spirit
eagerly desires, by proclaiming the Gospel to every creature,(1) to bring the light of Christ to all men, a light
brightly visible on the countenance of the Church. Since the Church is in Christ like a sacrament or as a sign
and instrument both of a very closely knit union with God and of the unity of the whole human race, it
desires now to unfold more fully to the faithful of the Church and to the whole world its own inner nature
and universal mission. This it intends to do following faithfully the teaching of previous councils. The
presentday conditions of the world add greater urgency to this work of the Church so that all men, joined
more closely today by various social, technical and cultural ties, might also attain fuller unity in Christ.
2. The eternal Father, by a free and hidden plan of His own wisdom and goodness, created the whole world.
His plan was to raise men to a participation of the divine life. Fallen in Adam, God the Father did not leave
men to themselves, but ceaselessly offered helps to salvation, in view of Christ, the Redeemer "who is the
image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature".(2) All the elect, before time began, the Father
"foreknew and pre destined to become conformed to the image of His Son, that he should be the firstborn
among many brethren".(3) He planned to assemble in the holy Church all those who would believe in Christ.
Already from the beginning of the world the foreshadowing of the Church took place. It was prepared in a
remarkable way throughout the history of the people of Israel and by means of the Old Covenant.(1*) In the
present era of time the Church was constituted and, by the outpouring of the Spirit, was made manifest. At
the end of time it will gloriously achieve completion, when, as is read in the Fathers, all the just, from Adam
and "from Abel, the just one, to the last of the elect,"(2*) will be gathered together with the Father in the
universal Church.
3. The Son, therefore, came, sent by the Father. It was in Him, before the foundation of the world, that the
Father chose us and predestined us to become adopted sons, for in Him it pleased the Father to reestablish
all things.(4) To carry out the will of the Father, Christ inaugurated the Kingdom of heaven on earth and
revealed to us the mystery of that kingdom. By His obedience He brought about redemption. The Church, or,
in other words, the kingdom of Christ now present in mystery, grows visibly through the power of God in the
world. This inauguration and this growth are both symbolized by the blood and water which flowed from the
open side of a crucified Jesus,(5).
This course will discuss the biblical concept of Marturia as being God's prophetic voice by engaging society with biblical truth. Marturia is advancing the cause of Jesus Christ by bearing witness to the transformation the Good News brings.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2. .
The multiplication of the loaves led to the failed
attempt to crown Christ as popular king but he
disappeared from their midst and hid from them
3. .
"My Kingdom is not of this world. If my Kingdom were of this
world, my people would have fought so that it would not be
handed over to the Jews, but my Kingdom is not from here" (Jn 18:36).
4. "Yes, as you say, I am a King. For this I was born
and for this I have come into the world: to bear witness
to the truth. The true hear my voice (John 18:37)
10. . "Christ has to reign until he puts all his
enemies under his feet. The last enemy
destroyed will be death" (1 Cor 15, 25-26).
11. .
“He has put all things under his feet and put him at the head
of all things in the Church, which is his body. He is the
consummation of all things in all” (Eph 1, 22).
12. .
This acknowledgment will be complete on the
day of judgment: when the Sonof man come in
his glory and all the angels with him, cf Mt 25, 31
13. .
and he will sit on his glorious throne to judge
those on the right and those on the left” (Mt 25:31).
14. .
“The Kingdom of God is not just food and drink, but
righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Rom 14:17).
16. The celebration
of the Solemnity
of Our Lord Jesus
Christ, King of the
Universe, closes the
Liturgical Year in
which the mystery
of his life and his
preaching have
been meditated
of the Kingdom
of God.
17. .
The feast of Christ the King was instituted by Pope Pius XI on
December 11, 1925. The Pope wanted to motivate Catholics to publicly
recognize that the president of the Church is Christ the King.
18. .
Jesus shows us that the Kingdom means for us
Salvation, Revelation and Reconciliation, in the
face of the deadly lie of sin that exists in the world.
19. .
Jesus is not the King of a world of fear, lies and sin. He is
the King of the Kingdom of God who guides us and leads us.
20. .
Just as the devil tempted Eve and Adam with tricks and lies so
that they would be banished, now God himself becomes man and
returns to humanity the possibility of returning to the Kingdom,
when like a lamb he was immolated with love on the cross.
21. .
This holiday celebrates
Christ as the kind and
simple King who as a
shepherd guides his
Church on a pilgrimage
towards the Celestial
Kingdom. He grants
man communion with
this Kingdom so that
he can transform
the World in
which he
travels
23. .
The possibility of reaching the Kingdom of God was established by
Jesus Christ, leaving us the Holy Spirit who grants us the necessary
graces to achieve Holiness and transform the world with love.
24. Thus the Kingdom is already installed in the world through
the Church that walks towards the Celestial Kingdom
25. THE SEVEN SACRAMENTS - the two realities of the Church - pilgrim
and heavenly - are definitively linked, and this pilgrimage is strengthened
by prayer of pilgrims and the grace they receive through the sacraments.
26. .
To enter the Kingdom,
one must prepare by
doing penance and
receive baptism in
faith. Although this is
aexternal rite, means
and produces an
internal regeneration.
27. "Everyone who is of the truth, listen to my voice"(Jn 18, 37).
All those who meet the Lord, hear his call to holiness and
embark on this path, become members of the Kingdom of God.
28. .
Thus, Jesus Christ is the King and the Shepherd of the Kingdom
of God, who takes us out of darkness, guides us and takes care
of us on our way towards full communion with the God of Love.
29. . Our Lord requires of his
subjects that they detach their
souls from earthly riches,
30. .
...to keep good and orderly
customs, and hunger and
strive for justice, and also
to deny themselves and
take up their cross
S Tomás de Aquino
31. It is necessary that it reigns in the will,
which must obey the divine laws and precepts
S Thomas More
32. It is necessary that He reigns in the heart, which,
postponing natural affections, must love God
above all things, and only be united to Him.
S Margaret María Alacoque
33. It is necessary that he
reign in the body and in
its members, which, as
instruments or weapons
of God's justice, must
serve for the internal
sanctification of the soul.
Luigi e María Beltrame Quattrocchi
34. .
The Father entrusted to Christ an absolute right over
created things, in such a way that all are subject to his will.
36. . the Church, as a perfect society instituted
by Christ, demands - in her own right, full
freedom and independence from civil power
37. .
The State must also grant the same freedom to religious orders and
congregations of both sexes, which are invaluable assistants to the pastors
of the Church, cooperate greatly in the establishment and propagation
of the kingdom of Christ and propagation of the kingdom of Christ.
39. .
The duty to publicly worship and obey
Jesus Christ not only obliges individuals,
but also magistrates and rulers.
