The Cherokee tribe lived in the Southeastern United States and spoke one language, Iroquoian. They had summer homes made of wood and winter homes made of mud and clay. The Cherokee hunted deer and gathered corn, apples, and berries to eat. Each family contributed to the tribe by taking on roles like lumberjack, fisher, or hunter. They used canoes and horses for transportation and crafted jewelry, weapons, and other items. The Cherokee faced struggles with hostile animals and other tribes, as well as conflicts with the U.S. Army during the Trail of Tears and American expansion into their territory.
