The Cherokee tribe lived in the southern USA and spoke one language, Iroquoian. They had two types of shelters - summer houses made of wood and winter houses made of clay and mud. The Cherokee diet consisted of fish, berries, deer, apples and corn. Men's roles were to protect the family while women cooked and cleaned. Transportation included canoes, walking and later horses. Tools for hunting and household tasks included hatchets, knives, spears and bows and arrows. The Cherokee faced struggles with harsh animals, enemy tribes, and displacement by the U.S. Army and settlers.
