Chat Etiquette By: Lauren Bentzinger,  Alyssa Wagner,  and Laura Rusert
C stands for… CAPITAL LETTERS   Only use capital letters when you are “yelling” or showing very strong feeling.
H stands for… HASTINESS Do not be hasty or in a rush. Give the other person enough time to respond.
A stands for… APPROPRIATE   Only use appropriate language and pictures when you are chatting.
T stands for… THINK You should think of yourself as if you were actually at a party or social event talking to a group of people instead of by yourself in front of the computer.
E stands for… END OF CONVERSATION Make sure you say goodbye before you leave so that the other person is not left wondering where you are.
T stands for… THREAT   Do not threaten or bully any person and do not talk to anyone who you see as a threat to yourself.
i stands for… IDEAS Keep your ideas focused on the main topic or priority of the chat.
Q stands for… QUALITY Not everything you write needs to be of perfect quality.  Abbreviations and misspellings are okay as long as the other person knows what you are meaning to say.
U stands for… UNDERSTANDING Make sure you fully understand what the other person is trying to say before you draw any conclusions or get upset. Find the best way to write what you want  to say so that the other person can understand you as well.
E stands for...  EXCLUSION Do not let exclude anyone who wants to be a part of your chat.
T stands for...  TALKING ABOUT OTHERS. Refrain from gossip and stop others who a gossiping also. Only say nice things about others.
T stands for… THINK SOME MORE You need to think before you do  anything.  Do not a write, act, or react in any way that you may regret later.
E stands for… EFFECTIVE Be effective in the conversation. Give input or ideas that will benefit the cause.

  • 2. C stands for… CAPITAL LETTERS Only use capital letters when you are “yelling” or showing very strong feeling.
  • 3. H stands for… HASTINESS Do not be hasty or in a rush. Give the other person enough time to respond.
  • 4. A stands for… APPROPRIATE Only use appropriate language and pictures when you are chatting.
  • 5. T stands for… THINK You should think of yourself as if you were actually at a party or social event talking to a group of people instead of by yourself in front of the computer.
  • 6. E stands for… END OF CONVERSATION Make sure you say goodbye before you leave so that the other person is not left wondering where you are.
  • 7. T stands for… THREAT Do not threaten or bully any person and do not talk to anyone who you see as a threat to yourself.
  • 8. i stands for… IDEAS Keep your ideas focused on the main topic or priority of the chat.
  • 9. Q stands for… QUALITY Not everything you write needs to be of perfect quality. Abbreviations and misspellings are okay as long as the other person knows what you are meaning to say.
  • 10. U stands for… UNDERSTANDING Make sure you fully understand what the other person is trying to say before you draw any conclusions or get upset. Find the best way to write what you want to say so that the other person can understand you as well.
  • 11. E stands for... EXCLUSION Do not let exclude anyone who wants to be a part of your chat.
  • 12. T stands for... TALKING ABOUT OTHERS. Refrain from gossip and stop others who a gossiping also. Only say nice things about others.
  • 13. T stands for… THINK SOME MORE You need to think before you do anything. Do not a write, act, or react in any way that you may regret later.
  • 14. E stands for… EFFECTIVE Be effective in the conversation. Give input or ideas that will benefit the cause.
