The Power of WHY: The Key to Uniting Employees Around Your Company Vision [Ma...VolunteerMatch
What separates successful, innovative corporate responsibility programs from the status quo? The answer may be simpler than you think.
On March 18th, 2016, Stephanie Staidle, founder of The Right Brain Entrepreneur joined VolunteerMatch to explore The Power of Why: The Key to Uniting Employees Around Your Company Vision. In this complimentary webinar, attendees learned how to unite employees around your company vision and inspire them to take part in your cause work. How? By understanding and using your company's "why".
A Radical Twist on Employee Volunteering: Job PurposingVolunteerMatch
Corporate employees are parched for something you can provide: Social purpose. Academic research finds that most corporate employees prefer almost anything over work – inching along in traffic, scrubbing their bathtub or doing taxes, for example. Why? They lack a sense of meaning at work. A specific form of employee volunteering that deepens work with the opportunity to serve societal needs, known as job purposing, can deliver what employees need and deserve. It also improves employee engagement, performance, retention and overall well-being. In other words, your employee volunteering doesn’t only provide vital support to societal causes. Done well, employee volunteering drives business success one enthusiastic employee at a time. 2015 VolunteerMatch Summit attendees learned how to job purpose in this highly engaging session.
Skills Based Speed Dating Pt. 1: Pitch-Writing for NonprofitsVolunteerMatch
Skills-based volunteering is increasingly popular among companies, but developing strong, effective skills-based partnerships with nonprofit organizations can be very challenging. Nonprofits can be unsure of the expertise they’re receiving and how much effort it will require from their typically capacity-constrained organization. Companies can be unsure of what specific skill or type of skills based volunteering would be of most benefit to the community and their employee-volunteers. By speaking to the “other side of the aisle”, both companies and nonprofits will better understand how to think about, message and launch their skills based initiatives.
This session at the 2015 VolunteerMatch Summit brought together companies and nonprofits who want to take that second step with their skills-based volunteer programs, through a fun, interactive speed dating session. Companies had the chance to hear what services would be particularly helpful to nonprofits in their communities – and nonprofits had a chance to “pitch” their skills-based project in a low-risk, low-pressure environment and get feedback on what will make their project even more attractive to potential corporate partners.
Nonprofit Insights: Tapping into the Power of National Days and Weeks of ServiceVolunteerMatch
For many nonprofit organizations, national events like MLK Day of Service, National Volunteer Week or #GivingTuesday create not only another opportunity to build support, but also more work, more logistical challenges, and potential fatigue among donors and volunteers.
How can nonprofits balance the potential benefits of #GivingTuesday?
In this webinar, VolunteerMatch, #GivingTuesday and the Support Center for Child Advocacy talk about how organizations can tap into the power of national days and weeks of service. No matter the size or budget of your nonprofit, this webinar provides insight into how you can engage volunteers to help with campaigns on days like #GivingTuesday, and, vice versa, how these national days of giving and volunteering can help grow your volunteer engagement.
Nonprofit Insights: How Design Thinking Helps You Increase Impact And InnovationVolunteerMatch
Nonprofit organizations provide some of the most basic and essential services to those who need them most: clean water, food, shelter, etc. However, despite often Herculean efforts, many organizations lack resources and find themselves understaffed and underfunded. For organizations to survive, thrive, and fulfill their missions, the key is constant innovation.
During this free webinar, we’ll discuss how innovative nonprofits (e.g. American Red Cross, GRID Alternative, buildOn, etc.) utilize Customer Centric Design Thinking — a methodology developed at the Institute of Design at Stanford — to think outside-the-box and find ways to leverage existing resources, volunteers, staff, and social media presence to increase impact. We’ll then discuss methods for using design thinking to increase engagement, awareness, volunteerism, and fundraising at your organization.
This webinar will be lead by Ryall Carroll, Ph.D. Marketing and Co-Founder of raiserve.org.

How people want to spend their volunteer time is changing. What volunteers are looking for today, and will be looking for tomorrow, is different from what volunteers wanted just a few years ago. Whether you're looking to invite volunteers into your organization or send employees out into the community as volunteers this session can help. 2015 VolunteerMatch Summit attendees learned how to design opportunities that provide the right experience for volunteers by rethinking the work (and the way it's talked about), focusing on the impact of the work, and thinking about the skills, experiences and characteristics of the "right" volunteer for the role.
Using social media to compliment your recruitment strategy might be easier than you think. Where and how you spend your time can have a big impact on your EVP and your employer brand.

Who influences a Millennial employee to participate in a company-wide day of service? What inspires Millennials and their managers to donate through company-sponsored giving? This research studied the relationships between Millennial employees and their managers as well as how those relationships influenced engagement in company sponsored cause work.
The findings have been organized into three sections: Give, Serve and Inspire. Give includes attitudes and preferences for making charitable donations through formal workplace giving campaigns and similar donation drives. Serve deals with employee volunteerism, including employee preferences, managerial attitudes and examples of company volunteer actions. Finally, Inspire explores the relationships that influence employees and managers to volunteer and donate through company cause work.
Want to get involved in #GivingTuesday this year, but not sure where to start? During this presentation, you will be provided with toolkits, best practices, and examples to organize your very own Giving Tuesday campaign.

Adding Snap, Crackle & Pop to Chapter EventsBillhighway
One of the big mysteries these days is why chapter members aren't attending events. While it's easy to blame it on members being busy, this is usually not the reason members don’t attend events. If your chapters are having difficulty with event attendance, it might be time to put some extra effort into the event planning and programming. Join us on this webinar, where we explore what your chapters can do to boost their event attendance.
In this webinar, we cover how to…
• Tap into the desire members have (across generations) to attend live events.
• Curate the right programming for your chapters' audience that meets their need for continual learning.
• Create an event experience that leaves attendees amazed and ready to attend your next event.

The world is changing and the job force is changing with it. In today’s dynamic global economy, the most successful enterprises aren’t looking for workers who know a lot about only one thing. They are seeking employees who are nimble, curious and innovative.
The work done by lower-level accountants, computer programmers, engineers, lawyers and financial analysts is already being outsourced; soon it will be done by computers. The good jobs of the future will go to those who can collaborate widely, think broadly and challenge conventional wisdom — precisely the capacities of an entrepreneur. Kyle is sharing his journey and will illustrate the importance of developing an entrepreneurial mind-set. It's not about thinking about the first job, but a lifetime of jobs.

During this session we’ll be going through the top 10 pieces of advice for landing a job the social change sector.
Jot down any questions you have and I’ll be happy to have a bit of a Q&A at the end.
Landing a job in the social change sector isn’t based on good intentions unfortunately
Give an example of reading Charity Apprentice apps recently
It’s very competitive so you need to sure me you’re qualified and will make a success of the role
The sector has a reputation of being a nice and lovely place to work
It is! But it’s also extremely stressful and busy.
All social change work is aimed at making the world better and this isn’t easy work.
You need to show that you know this and that you’re engaged and have opinions on some of the large challenges within the sector.
You need to be driven by the question of how can I make the most impact in my job etc.
Do you want to work in women’s rights - regardless of the role, or do you want to work in digital communications and you don’t really mind what ‘cause’ it’s for?
To try and work this out, think of your current skillset
Also think about current things happening in the world - is there a particular issue you care about?
Don’t be fooled by the bigger brands of the larger charities
Having more money doesn’t always mean the work they do is better
Starting small means you will do far more work quicker - not just be a cog in the wheel
Great way to start!
Get yourself along to events and stay up to date online
You want to identify key online influencers in the areas you’re most interested in and follow their work
