Biology is the study of living things, including cells, bacteria, protists, fungi, plants and animals. All living things share common characteristics like being made of cells, reproducing, having genetic material in DNA, growing and developing, obtaining and using energy, responding to their environment and evolving over time. Cells are the basic unit of life and come in two main types - prokaryotes which lack nuclei and organelles, and eukaryotes which have nuclei and organelles. Organisms reproduce sexually involving two parents or asexually involving one organism, and pass on their genetic code in DNA.
