INDIGO
A 19-year-old girl from somewhere in East Asia
surrounded by a sense of mystery. She moved to the
Balkan part of Europe due her fathers job, where she
met Angela. She grew up without a mother. All known
family and friends died due to the virus, but she never
caught it. Her eyes are dark, matching her long hair and
she walks and talks with great confidence. Even though
strangers might see her as unapproachable, she has a
kind heart and wouldn’t hurt a fly. Due to her and her
father’s field trips ever since she was 4, she is well
equipped and skilled. If anyone can survive in the brutal
post-apocalyptic conditions, it’s her.
Why the name Indigo?
Indigo is a deep midnight
shade of blue that is
obtained from a tropical
plant. It is also a colour
of integrity, wisdom,
justice and fairness.
Indigo children are,
according to a
pseudoscientific New Age
concept, children usually
perceived as strange,
unique and possessing
unusual, even
It is also believed that indigo
children were sent by a higher power
in order to lead, enlighten and shape
humanity into its best form. All the
traits of alleged indigo children fit
this character as she is unique,
assertive, intuitive and kind.
If i could choose, the actress
playing Indigo would be Lana
Condor, a 21-year-old
Vietnamese actress who made
her debut in the 2016 film ‘X-
Men: Apocalypse’. She fits the
physical description and has
the acting abilities to properly
convey any given character.

ANGELA
Angela is a 17-year-old girl who comes from a somewhat wealthy family. They always prioritized her education and good
manners. She is well read and, before the deadly catastrophe, desired to study literature. Her Balkan hereditary grants
her her chocolate hair and bold eyebrows. The apocalypse took a large toll on her, but despise the fact that she was
infected, she had managed to survive longer than most. It’s all due to her brightness and clever ideas. While talking, her
gestures are expressive, as she is quite passionate. Behind a soft voice and gentle appearance, a very tough and
unbreakable girl is hiding. Her name fits her delicacy physique, as it means ‘divine messenger’.
Ideally, the role of Angela
would go to the actress of the
exact age, Rowan Blanchard.
She is mostly known for her
Disney series ‘Girl Meets
World’. Her nationality doesn’t
match the characters, but she
has the required physical
features and aesthetic, making
her an excellent fit for the
role.

The outer motivation represents the character’s
goal or desire which must be tangible.
Indigo’s outer motivation can be interpreted
simply as surviving and leading her friend to
safety. She also desires to find as many survivors,
especially women who are endangered by the
ruling gang, and form a safe community. Her goals
are clearly defined and she is determined to
achieve them and contribute to making the society
that’s left better.
Angela’s outer motivation is trying to find someone
to keep her company in the safety of her home. She
also needs to gather more supplies somehow, so
anyone willing to go on supply runs would be
perfect.
The outer motivation keeps the story moving
forward and is about physical action, so the lack of
it would result in little momentum and fail to keep
the audience entertained.
OUTER MOTIVATION
The inner motivation of a character is about their
character flaws or inner needs. It is not seen as clearly as
the outer motivation which is defined by the action in the
film, but it’s hidden in between the lines and gives depth
to the story.
To Indigo, the inner struggles are not being able to help
everyone in need and dealing with the loss of her loved
one’s. She also puts other people’s needs in front of her
own, which often harms and endangers her.
Angela struggles with accepting that she is ill and that the
world as it was before is gone. She feels lonely and desires
socialisation. Her fear and lack of acceptance that half of
the population is gone keeps her from leaving her home,
even though she is running out of food and water. She
doesn’t want the world and herself to die.
The character’s inner motivation demonstrates their
relationships, flaws, develops them and enforces the
theme of the film. This film’s theme is loss and friendship.
The inner motivation is resolved when the character
recognises and overcomes it.
