8. Theme: Gothic fiction with realism – horror, fiction
and realism because of the belief that a witch or a devil
will come out in the mirror if it go wrong.
11. Exposition
Anastasia told the girls
about the story that they
would be able to know
their future husband by
reciting an incantation in
front of the mirror but if
it gone wrong, they
would see a devil.
12. Complication
Agueda tried the incantation in
front of the mirror then she saw
Don Badoy. They had some
confrontation and she ended up
biting Don Badoy’s hand because
he wouldn’t let her go. At that
moment, he fell in love with her
but he would still make her pay
for what she did.
13. Climax
Don Badoy told his grandson,
Voltaire, that he once saw a
witch in front of a mirror when
he caught him doing the
incantation in front of the
mirror. Amazed by what he
said, Voltaire told him that his
grandma once saw the devil in
that mirror.
14. Denouement
Don Badoy realized that
he ponders on love that
had been wasted. They
had shared a bitter and
loveless marriage. His
forgot his love to Agueda
since that May day eve.
15. Resolution
Don Badoy reminisced the
time when he saw Agueda
in front of the mirror and
when he fell madly inlove
with her. That old love had
been blinded by hatred,
but it has now resurfaced
but it’s too late because
Agueda is dead.
16. PLOT EVENT INTERNAL CONFLICT EXTERNAL CONFLICT
Agueda insisted that she wants
to try the incantation in front of
the mirror.
She was scared because of the
darkness but she just imagined
the room filled with people.
Anastasia and her cousins tried
stop her because he might see
the devil.
Don Badoy saw Agueda in front
of the mirror.
Agueda hated Don Badoy so
much that she rejected him but
Don Badoy wouldn’t let him go
so she bit him.
Agueda bit Don Badoy on his
hand when he wouldn’t let him
go.
He fell inlove with her but then,
he wanted to make her pay for
what she did.
He was so mad he tried to slap
her but she was gone.
Voltaire told him that her
grandma once saw a devil in that
mirror.
He realized that they shared a
loveless marriage and the love
felt on may day eve was covered
by hatred but it was too late.
Agueda never found what she
was meant to Badoy all this time.
