9. Classroom Equipment
• Classroom equipment for the Philippine
Educational System varied according to the
units (year level) of the school system:
- Pre-elementary to Elementary
- Secondary
- Tertiary
10. Elementary school classrooms are
required to have the following:
- Table and chairs for the teacher and supervisor
- Combination desks for pupils or low tables and chairs
- Blackboards (two or four) with curtains
- Classroom library table
- Bulletin Board
- Sand table
- Shelves for teacher’s instructional materials
- Pictures of national heroes
- Visual aids
- Audio-visual aids
11. Secondary school classrooms are required to
have the following equipment:
- Table and chair for the teacher
- Armchairs for the students
- Blackboard/whiteboard (two or more)
- Work tables and stools of laboratory room
- Shelves and lockers for specimens and other laboratory
equipment
- Bulletin Board
- Aparadors for teacher’s instructional devices and for books
- Visual aids
- Audio-visual aids
12. Tertiary school classrooms are
required to have the following
equipment:
- Table and chair for the teacher/professor
- Television (w/ VGA or HDMI)
- Blackboard or whiteboard

• School playgrounds are NOT merely places for
students to let off steam or hang out during
recess.
INSTEAD,
a fun, safe playground environment stimulates
students‘ knowledge, skills and attitudes.

American Academy of Pediatrics and Scientific
American, children without access to play are
at greater risk for suffering from depression,
anxiety, asthma, diabetes, and obesity.

Buildings
• An effective school facility is responsive to the

accessible, well illuminated, well ventilated,
and aesthetically pleasing.

1. Location
- provides an environment conducive to
learning, as much as possible far from cockpits,
malls, gambling dens etc.

- must be easily accessible to the greatest
number of pupils.
3. Topography
- the contour of the land should be level
and should have no irregular boundaries.

For elementary
• a.) central school with six (6) classes and non
central school with three to four (3-4) classes
– 0.5 hectares
• b.) schools with seven to ten (7-10) classes –
1.5 hectares
24. For Secondary
• 500 students or less- 0.5 hectares
• 501 to 1,000 pupils- 1.0 hectares
• 1,001 to 2,000 pupils- 2.0 hectares
• 2,001 to 3,000 pupils- 3.0 hectares

The school should have the ff. facilities:
• School administrator’s office
• Working area for the office staff
• Faculty room
• Supply storeroom
• Conference room
• Auditorium
• Laboratories
• Toilet

• refers to all the physical properties of a school,
consisting of the grounds, buildings, and the
various facilities within the school grounds
and inside the school buildings.
