WHAT WILL YOU BE TESTED ON?
The CDL Skills Test consists of 3 parts.
Students are required to inspect the Engine Compartment, the Side of the Truck, and, the Trailer.
Connections:
Start at the back of the truck. Truck, then Trailer.
External Light Check:
Truck front, truck left side, truck rear. Trailer front, trailer left side, trailer rear, trailer right side, truck right side.
In-Cab Inspection:
Missing ANY part of the Brake Check is an
automatic fail.
Remember:
There is always an axle to inspect. Inspect the axle last.
Backing Maneuvers:
All students MUST Straight Back and Offset Park.
All Students MUST also/either Parallel Park or Alley Dock.
Road Test:
Mirror checks
Intersection checks
RR crossing checks
Curbs
Roadside stops
Turn signals
Miss a gear? Don’t panic. Rev the engine and try again.
Use your hard walls and soft wall to find your gear.

Several major steps to follow which deals with a defensive driving and one must obey each single step to be safe and secure. Several benefits of defensive driving are there and all that you can see in this slide presentation.
This report includes a focus on seven key recommendations that are both specific and
actionable. A major role of the Task Force work has been to create shared understanding
across many disciplines, that removing obstacles to safe driving is crucial to healthy ageing and
managing our expanding lifespan successfully.

16. 3.4 Driving a Manual Transmission Car Selector-Lever Positions: Neutral (N)- positioned in center of crossbar. First (1) – Start the vehicle moving and up to 10-15 MPH. Second (2) – Accelerate to a speed of 15-25 MPH. Third (3) – Accelerate to a speed of 25-40 MPH. Fourth (4) – Accelerate to speeds above 35 MPH (Highway Driving). Fifth (5) – in a five-speed transmission use this gear for 45 or 50 MPH. Sixth (6) – Highway driving of 55 MPH or faster. Reverse (R) – Gear is used for Backing Up. Never shift to R if the car is moving forward.
