A Community Mental Health Team While Working With A Client...
Introduction
This literature review and research proposal was motivated following a practice placement with a
Community Mental Health Team while working with a client with Generalised Anxiety Disorder
(GAD). GAD is a long term condition that causes someone to feel anxious about a wide range of
situations and issues, rather than one specific event. GAD is a common mental health condition
affecting 1 in every 25 people in the United Kingdom, its prevalence is slightly more among
women than men and individuals between the ages of 35 and 55 (NHSChoices, 2014). People
with GAD feel anxious most days and often struggle to remember the last time they felt relaxed
(NHSChoices, 2014). Feeling anxious is a normal response to stressful experiences, however when
anxiety is prolonged, inappropriate, and/or overwhelming to the point that it impacts on
functioning, it becomes a pathological disorder (Davis, 2011). The anxiety, worry, or physical
symptoms cause significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas
of functioning (APA, 2000). Studies have shown that GAD is more impairing than other anxiety
disorders (Hoffmann et al., 2009); and people afflicted with GAD have reported significantly less
satisfaction with their quality of life in particular in the domains of self esteem, goals and values,
money, work, play, learning, creativity, friends and family (Henning et al., 2007). Thus GAD has a
disabling impact on an individual s occupation performance

These investments have had great impact on the cost structure and consequently, on the bottom line
of these companies. Because of the fact that many of the companies have reached the maximum
potential of the Six Sigma approach, what would be the next step for productivity improvement?
Studies have shown that the design stage directly influences more than 70% of a product s life
cycle cost. Companies with high product development effectiveness have earnings three times the
average earnings, and have revenue growth two times the average revenue growth. These
observations are persuading more and more companies to adopt improved product development
processes under Taguchi Method. This method s approach is focused on increasing engineering
productivity so that new products can be developed rapidly and at low cost, and value based
management. Taguchi Method Strategy Variation reduction is recognized all around the world as a
key to productivity improvement. There are many approaches to reducing the variability, each one
having its place in the product development cycle. By focusing on variation reduction at the design
stage, you can prevent failures in the following stages of a product s life cycle. The Six Sigma
approach has made fantastic improvements in cost reduction by finding problems that occur in
manufacturing operations and fixing the immediate causes. The Robust

Symbolism In Echo
In Echo, each of the main characters are given the same magical harmonica. The harmonica
symbolizes the innocence of people in the darkest of times and the true gift inside each of the
characters. One of the characters is Friedrich. Friedrich has a deformed face. Because he lives in
Germany he is treated poorly and is called a freak. One day he finds a harmonica. He plays his
new harmonica all the time. He usually plays it on his way to work while he is called names and
he played it for the pigeons during his lunch break. He may be deformed, but he is great at the
harmonica and he knows how to conduct. He and the rest of the others that are cast out are
punished and bullied just because the way they look, think, and believe. With his skill he shows...

In the second story, we learn about Mike. Mike and his brother Franky are orphaned after both
their parents and grandmother died. Their grandmother taught Mike piano and she also gave
them both harmonicas. The owner of the orphanage took their harmonicas away and tried to
separate them. Later, Mike must learn that he must let his brother go. They both are adopted
later. They never see the person who adopted them but they have her financial adviser to take
care of them. They soon learn her name is Eunie. One day Mike finds the harmonica. He took
lessons from Eunie s personal gardener. He played the harmonica all the time and it makes him
and others happy, even in sad times. In the last story, the book talks about a Hispanic girl named

The Symbol of the Tower of London
Ever since its creation by Gundolf in 1078, the Tower of London has served many purposes.
Whether it was a royal residence or prison and torture chamber, most importantly, it has been a
significant symbol and monument of English history and architecture. A small, modest building,
many tourists are surprised to see the Tower of London, as it is not the magnificent, tall tower they
were expecting. For some years, the Tower of London was used as a royal residence where
monarchs would stay for a night before departing to continue their journey the next day. More
interestingly, it was used as a prison, torture chamber, and execution grounds.
Although, from the outside, the Tower of London is not very lavish when compared with the
majestic, grand, and intricate buildings in England, it was once a desired place for royals to
stay whether for one night or longer. During the time it was used as a royal residence, it was
referred to as The White Tower, and was quite an alluring place. The Tower of London (or The
White Tower) consisted of several buildings surrounded by a wall and mote. Later on after the
construction was completed, Richard the Lionheart, Edward I, and Henry VIII enlarged the
complex.
Colorful, pretty, and comfortable, the Tower of London during its time as a royal residence
contained more than just stone buildings it was a center of life. Bustling servants, tradesmen, and
court attendants would hurry around the lively tower, going in and out of the huge kitchen,

The Coastal Plains Of Texas
The Coastal Plains of Texas is a large area that extends from the Atlantic Ocean to beyond the Rio
Grande. This region can be divided into 5 distinct areas.
PINE BELT:
It extends 75 to 125 miles into Texas from the east and from north to south from the Red River to
about 25 miles of the Gulf Coast. The Pine Belt is practically the source of all Texastimber
production. Lumber is the principle industry. The climate is good for a variety of fruits and
vegetables. A great oil field discovered in 1931 contributed to the economic growth of the area.
BLACKLAND BELT:
This area stretches from the Rio Grande to the Red River. This area runs through the DFW
metropolitan area. This area is also the most populated with the strongest diversified manufacturing
industry of the state.
COASTAL PRAIRIES:
This area extends along the Gulf of Mexico, from the Sabine River to the lower Rio Grande Valley.
Cattle ranching is the largest and strongest agriculture industry. Along with cattle ranching, rice is
also a very strong crop in the agriculture industry. More principle crops include cotton, grains,
vegetables, and citrus fruits.
LOWER RIO GRANDE VALLEY:
This low valley is also known as The Valley. It has the greatest citrus and winter vegetables in
Texas due to the lack of freezing weather. It is ranked very high among the nation s fruit and truck
farming regions.
RIO GRANDE PLAIN:
This massive plain lies south of San Antonio between the Rio Grande and the Gulf Coast. The

Thesis Statement Of Compulsory Licensing
Different legal cultures are actually the most significant determinant to define the role of
compulsory licensing, especially in the aspect of a remedy for anticompetitive conduct. Absence of
specific guidance from Congress about how courts should issue a decree ordering a compulsory
license, procompetitve outlook dominated policy makers opinions in the U.S. in the 1950 s. How
to construct a purposive interpretation of Antitrust law also depends on the attitudes of policy
makers, while surprisingly, there was a period courts showed hostility towards patentenforcement
lasted until 1970 s. Nonetheless, the line between patent misuse and anticompetitive licensing
conducts was gradually vague and blur since the start of the enactment of patent lawinternationally.

A general introduction In this part, the thesis would introduce how compulsory licensing works,
and analyze possible situations of misuses conducts regarding different IPR contexts. This thesis
intends to explore the possibility of anticompetitive conducts regarding different IPRs, such as
trademark, copyright, patent, design right, pharmaceutical and bio technological inventions, and
whether issuing a compulsory is a proper remedy.
II.Theoretical background economic theories and the liability rule In this part, the thesis would
summarize economic theories of restricting the IPR owners right and its impact on innovation,
either static or dynamic innovation. Calabresi and Melamed s opinions on the three rules: property
rule, liability rule and inalienability rule are prominent in legal studies. Intriguingly, how
compulsory licensing works and the function of the eBay rule resembles the liability rule in
Calabresi and Melamed s famous article. The thesis would analyze the pros and cons of the liability
rule regime and also whether compulsory licensing works better than the liability rule.

Adam And Eve Dialectical Journal
Eve s Impact on Adam
The Diaries of Adam and Eve are a Mark Twain satirical retelling of the bible s Adam and Eve.
Twain s Diary entry style cleverly represents how differently, both the characters react and develop
after meeting for the first time. Adam feels that Eve s introduction worsens his quality of life
because he feels invaded and he longs for the comfort of his own solitude whereas, Eve is
interested in Adam and doesn t like the feeling of solitude. As the diary entries progress it is Eve
who takes the first steps to make the relationship work because unlike Adam, she can t deal with
loneliness. Eve is portrayed as a very intelligent and scientific character due to the fact that she
names everything and is very interested in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though the situation seems hopeless, Eve is persistent and she believes that Adam would
eventually get lonely and seek her out. She thinks this way because that is what she feels when
she is lonely. Adam eventually allows Eve be a constant companion and accepts Eve s insistence
in giving everything a name because he acknowledges that she is trying to be useful to him.
Adam starts to use the word we instead of I because Eve has been using it meaning that although
he doesn t particularly like her, he is still being influenced by her. Despite her discovery of fire,
Adam is still unappreciative of her findings because he still sees no practical use for any of it
even though Eve notices that the fire cooked the apples and made them taste better. Adam
believes he has authority over Eve and it is evident when Eve tries to stop his dangerous
adventures with the waterfall. Instead of listening to reason Adam ignores the scolding and
continues his dangerous practice and Eve becomes resentful. In Adam s extract he finds that
although Eve s enthusiasm for the beauty in the world useless it still opens his own eyes to it
She is all girlish enthusiasm over the color of the sunset and similar phenomena, which he finds
quite useless. But he is reduced to the prose poem type of description she gives to the dawn and
sunset in regard to her beauty. (Derda) He realizes how beautiful Eve is in the sunset because her
actions make him aware of trivial things such as

Frq 1775 to 1830 Slavery in America
In the time period between 1775 and 1830, African Americans start to gain more freedom in the
North while the institution of slavery expanded in the South. These changes occurred due to the
existence of different point of views. The North did not need slavery and acknowledge the cons of
slavery while the South s want for slavery quickly became a need. After the American Revolution,
The North slowly started to rid itself of slavery while the South implemented slavery into their daily
lives. Slaves existed right from the start of American history and during the American Revolution.
The British used the African American slaves to their advantage by granting them freedom in
return. In Lord Dunmore s Proclamation of 1775, he stated that... Show more content on

During this time period, the treatment of slaves improved because they were treated more like
humans rather than farm animal. Some slave owners even allowed their slaves to purchase their
freedom by working for them for a certain amount of time. Some African American slaves were
not as lucky for their masters forbid them to do so (Doc F). As the North finally gets rid of all
slave activity, the South becomes more and more dependent on slave labor and more embedded
into the system. Both free and enslaved Africans were discriminated against in this time period
but responded differently towards their challenges. African Americans found ways to cope with
their situation one being religious gatherings (Doc D). They sang old traditional African songs
and danced. By doing so, they can forget about life troubles for a moment and give themselves a
sense of hope that someday they would by free. Some slaves where more violent than other and
began rebellions against their white owners. The use of rebellion was inspired to them by the
Bible and that God was pleading for their cause with earnestness and zeal (Doc G). Slaves who
caused mischief was relocated deeper south where the treatment and condition was even worse.
The Fugitive Slave Law forced the North to send back any slaves who escaped to the North in
return for a reward. Slaves who tried to escape to the North were also relocated. By relocating
them, the chances of escape decreased for them. Even

Application Of The Server Register A Callback
Answer] When the client caches the data, the server register a callback, this enables the client to
be informed about the data being modified. If a modification has taken place the server does not
register the callback which means that it informs the client that the cached data is stale. The
cached data is canceled by the client so that it can be accessed by local cache the next time it is
accessed; the local cache will get the information from the server by installing the callback. This
is the performance and correctness improvement over having the client periodically ask the
server if its cached data is only the current data or not. The server can broadcast the changes to
all the clients that cache the data, however, this approach fails when the server is not positive
that is the clients will need the new data in the future. When a server hands out a callback on a
file to a client, the server promises to contact the client before invalidating old copies of the file
which might be cached at the client this is also known as breaking the callback, the client can use
cached copies of the file freely if the callback has not been broken. 3. Consider a distributed file
system that does client caching using write through. The system caches individual blocks, rather
than entire files. Can the client in this system have a cache consistency problem? If so, suggest two
possible solutions. Answer] Client caching causes inconsistency into the system. Consider a case

European Union membership has an affect on countries both political and economical aspects. For
countries who become an EU member, substential changes in economic indicators can be observed
as change in economic structure, change in monetary policies, new interaction with different
counrtries, new trade agreements. In this essay, I will evaluate the economical impacts of EU
membership on Finland in terms of price level and foreign trade. Finland joined the European Union
in the beginning of 1995. In the 90‟s before being a member of EU, Finland experienced a

And those expectations became true. By 1995, price level of number of goods were lower than
EU average. Energy and investment in construction are still economically high in Finland but
with the membership prices became more similar to EU. Rapid change in price structure and
decrease in price level can seen in the first year of membership. Food prices fell 11 per cent
between November 1994 and November 1995. Food section in CPI came to a low point in 1996.
After joining the EU, food imports from other EU countries were liberalized and food prices
decrease to the level of other member countries. 11 per cent decline in price level is a major change
for Finland.
In the graph below, given the difference in price levels with the EU in years 1994 and 1995 can be
seen that price differences are lower at the end of 1995, than 1994.( Source: EUROSTAT)

Unfortunately, Boeing jets were involved in four fatal air accidents from December 1988 to
March 1989, and the company missed its first delivery deadline in two decades when the 747 400
experienced production delays. These internal problems were exacerbated by increased competition
from Airbus, which was heavily subsidized by a consortium of European companies and
governments. Furthermore, worldwide orders of all aircraft by the airliners declined from 1,662
in 1989 to 439 in 1991. Fortunately, in 1993 NASA selected Boeing as the prime contractor for the
International Space Station, which was called the largest international science and technology
endeavor ever undertaken. Boeing was also becoming increasingly involved in commercial space
projects and in December 1995 ten commercial space satellites were produced and launched from a
floating platform at sea.
In the middle of 1990 s, Boeing began its plan of acquisitions and in 1996 it paid $3.2 billion for
the aerospace and defense holdings of Rockwell International which was responsible for the Space
shuttle and International Space Station programs, as well as activities in launch systems, rocket
engines, missiles, satellites and military airplanes. Furthermore, in 1997 Boeing completed a $14

Airbnb And International Relations
1.Introduction
Bill Gates once famously stated: If your business is not on the internet, then your business will be
out of business. This quote exemplifies the theme of the present paper about Global Businesses and
International Relations.
The following research question will be examined throughout the course of this paper: How can
globalization help to expand businesses today? Airbnb will be used as a case study illustrating the
operation of multinational corporations in order to showcase how businesses can expand into
foreign markets quickly and efficiently .
This paper is divided into three parts, which will provide further information to the previously stated
question. At the beginning, the introduction of International Relations and its role on global
business will be discussed. Furthermore, the role of globalization between global actors with a
focus on multinational corporations will be expanded. At the end, Airbnb will be used as an

The Intense Debate Over Cloning
Technology has enabled people to realize many things their ancestors would not have even dreamed
of. Cloning is absolutely one of them. Having identical twins without being born on the same they
is like a dream come true. But what is cloning exactly? Cloning ,particularly in biotechnology, is the
process used to create copies of DNA fragment, cells, or organisms. Attempts at cloningmight go
back to much earlier times such as the attempt made by Hans Dreisch in the late 1800 s to clone
a sea urchin, but it was not until 1951, when the first successful clone of frog egg was created,
that goal was finally achieved. Still, the world had to wait for another 44 years before the first
mammal was cloned. It was certainly sensational when the first cloned mammal, a sheep named
Dollywas born on 5th July 1996. Since it was a milestone in humanstory, Dolly gained a world
wide fame overnight and took its place in the front pages of many newspapers and even tabloids
next to celebrities. However, there is a painful twist to this otherwise happy story because the
death of Dolly at the age of six brought about an intense debate particularly about the ethical side
of cloning and it has been a controversial issue ever since. Despite of all the debate it has caused

Design Of An Integrated Circuit
CHAPTER 1
1.INTRODUCTION
1.1Overview
Nowadays it is impossible to imagine any device where microelectronics is not present, from
personal computers through home appliances, modern society relies on the performance of
integrated circuits. It is so, that microelectronics advent has opened doors to new horizons where
integrated circuits have played an important role from the very beginning of their creation since the
late 1950s, when Jack St. Clair Kilby, a Texas Instruments Engineer, decided to change the future,
conceiving the first integrated circuit, where the components, passive as well as active, were
placed over a piece of semi conductive material (Germanium piece) that was half the size of a
paper clip. The success of this element (called chip due to its small size) containing a few
transistors, resistors, and capacitors, led to the Physics Nobel Prize for its inventor in 2000.
The design of an integrated circuit involves a development plan, where its functional characteristics
and performance will define the elaboration of the logic circuit diagram. Once the diagram is
finished, a series of simulations are executed to test the operation of the designed circuit; if no
issues are encountered, a massive production plan is implemented.
This manufacturing process has allowed the miniaturization of most of the devices used daily,
translating to lower production costs. The typical manufacturing process involves the
interconnection of the integrated circuit chips to the

Reflection On PARCC Test
The testing process was a general meeting with the staff who are qualified to administer the
PARCC exam. The principal ran through a state provided PowerPoint and provided the schedule
that works well for the school. The principal explained the security measures as well as who to
contact in case of emergencies or problems. There was also another meeting for the staff that could
not attend the original. All staff members who were involved with PARCC testing had to sign a
paper acknowledging that they attended the training. I was able to work with the secretary and
principal to coordinate testing times. I also served as a testadministrator and shadowed the
principal. In regards to the NJ ASK, there were multiple security components that had to be in
order. First off, the tests had to be checked in by two people; the principal and the counselor who
is also in charge of testing. The boxes of tests are then delivered to the testing closet where they
are counted and checked in their designated area. This closet is locked all the time and only the
principal has keys to it. The teachers were responsible to come to the testing closet to collect their
materials. The principal was responsible to make sure that staff members sign out their bins and
that all their materials are in the bin.
Reflection
As I reflect on state standardized test, I realize that budgeting extra time is always necessary.
While all PARCC tests have enough time, there was a day where one 8th grade class started late
and had technology issues. This caused a delay in lunches being served to the students. There
was also another issue with the technology in general. Many computers did not load the tests as
there was a JAVA update that needed to take place. There was also the issue with having the tests
spread out over 7 days and the whole school testing window over a month. The vision is to have
the students test on mine net books and I pads. While many schools do go that approach, I find
that we would have to teach our students how to use these tools first prior to the test. This would
take always instructional time. While we have ample computer labs to accommodate 6 classes at
one time, it would cause a hardship on the schedule. I would prefer to

Law In Action
The jury system was introduced in Queensland in 1867 as part of the Queensland Constitution Act.
Juries are used in indictable offences in criminal trials. They are mainly used in the District and
Supreme Court if the accused pleads guilty. Juries are used to decide the guilt or innocence, of the
accused person, based on the facts and evidence provided in court by the Prosecution and Defence
Council.
The legislation that governs the jury system is the Jury Act 1995 (Queensland). In this particular

Why Do Teens Turn To Drugs
Teenage brains are flooded with orders and rules from every direction, whether it is from peers,
parents, or teachers. Often times, the more that someone is pushed and forced in one direction, they
will go the other in defiance. This is never more present than in the teenage years: where emotions
and hormones are coursing through bodies at an all time high. When the pressure or influence
becomes too much, some teens turn to drugs and alcohol. Laws are then broken and the
government must put into place a system to fairly judge the juvenile crime. However, making it
illegal does not stop minors from accessing and using drugs. By understanding the consequences
and addictions drugs bring, discovering the accessibility of drugs to the youth, and... Show more

Defiance, peer pressure, and curiosity all can lead to experimentation, but it is the psychological
effects and addictions that can keep a teen wanting more. This is not a new factor in the United
States and has been a battle for the government for many years. From the prohibition of alcohol,
to bootlegging, to the uplifting of prohibition, alcohol has proven to be impossible to get rid of.
Just like citizens of the past, teenagers are no exception to getting around the law to break it.
However, the law is there for a reason, because alcohol and drugs can have some very serious side
effects and consequences to the undeveloped, emotion controlled, teenage brain. Despite the
repercussions, users still have many tactics to acquire the drug of their choice. The government
tries to prevent the sales of drugs and alcohol to minors but there is only so much it can do past
creating and attempting to enforce laws. Where laws really come into play is when a minor gets
caught with the possession of or being under the influence of drugs. This is when the state has
full control of punishing the offender or deciding a proper course for the offender to follow. The
punishments and programs can go a long way and prevent the minor from using again but this is
not ensured. No matter what, a teen will do what a teen wants to do. If they once desired an effect,
it is probable that they might want one again. Despite every consequence, every law, and every
punishment put into place by The United States government, it can not and will not solve the drug
and alcohol use problem of

Harrison Bergeron Summary
The story Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. is about a couple in the year 2081. In 2081 the
government wants everyone to be equal so they hand out handicaps to people with good looks,
vision, strength, brains, and other talents. The couple, Hazel and George Bergeron, are watching
dancers on tv when an announcer comes on. He says a person named Harrison Bergeronhas escaped
prison. Then they hear a thud and see a figure matching Harrison s description at the door. He
goes up to the stage, rips off his handicaps, and asks one of the dancers to volunteer to be his
Empress. When one comes up he takes off her handicaps and they begin to dance. They start to
float till they kiss the ceiling. The doors burst open and in walks the Handicapper General. She
pulls out a gun and shoots them both. I m going to prove that the setting of this story needs more
detail and that the characters, specifically Harrison and Hazel Bergeron, have nice subtle
backstories. The year was 2081 and everyone was finally equal, (pg 1). All we know about time
and place is in that sentence. We know the year, but we learn more about the times later in the story.

I have also shown that Harrison and Hazel Bergeron have amazing backstories. The story tells
you about the people, a dark world with no uniqueness and a brainwashed society, and that the
year is 2081 but it doesn t mention a physical location. I reminded you Harrison is still a child
and any of his behavior that could be considered rude is just his fit of sadness and rage from a
childhood of suppression. Hazel had her child taken away from her when all she wanted to do was
help those closest to her. That s enough to crush anyone. This story is a family who got caught in

AlГіs et al tested, exporting fish from no take marine protected areas (MPA) will affect the
catchability of overall fish populations. MPAs have proven to be essential tools in conserving
marine fisheries. They lead to necessary ecological effects on the surrounding area while protecting
the habitat and longevity of fish. One effect is known as the spillover of larvae and all of the

The three most frequently captured species in the recreational fishery were Diplodus annularis
(Sparidae), Coris julis (Labridae), and Serranus scriba (Serranudae). These were the focus of the
video recordings. The findings propose that recreational angling (as acted by the fisheries) reduces
the total population of S. Scriba. The history of angling S. Scriba has changed this species habits
and eventually increasing the need for reproduction, in turn decreased the size of the adult body.
The natural stressor of evolution has actually resulted in a shift from growth to keeping the species
alive due to the abundance of angling (requests).
This MPA is composed of two areas: (1) The Sanctuary, this is a fully protected area that has a
strict ban on any fishing, (2) Buffer; this buffer area is where small scale fisheries may operate
along with recreational fishing (less regulation). 54 random sites were produced within and around
the no take MPA. All chosen sites were directly over sea grass meadows and set at an increasing
distance from the MPA. In order to test their hypothesis, a thriving amount of naГЇvetГ© fish was
devised. NaГЇvetГ© fish being easier to catch than normal or fish that have inhabited regularly

skin areas that are exposed to the sun. The small spots are flat and dark in color. These spots can
appear on face, neck, chest, shoulders, forearms, upper back and back of the hands. Sun spots are

people who do not face sun that much. There are various sun spot removal techniques. It is
important to note that such spots are not cancerous themselves but it can be a sign that the affected
person is at risk of skin cancer. A certified dermatologist can verify if the spot on your skin is a
harmless freckle or it requires further examination to identify its medical complications.
Prevention is the best way to avoid sun spots. Avoid heavy exposure to the sun. Use sunscreenon
exposed parts of the skin before going out in the sun. The sunscreen used for the purpose should
meet the recommended SPF percentage. It should have at least 30 or higher SPF rating to be

of the problem. The doctor informs about these details beforehand after examining the affected
skin areas. It can take 10 15 days before the spots disappear completely. During the treatment, the

Essay On Whistleblower Protection Act
Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act of 2012
Introduction
Often the debate arises of whether human beings are born with an innate sense of right from wrong
and most often the consensus is, yes. The later question might then be, what makes a person
question doing the right thing? In the reality of someone who may be labeled a whistleblower,
apprehension to report wrongdoings may reasonably come from fear of retaliation. Particularly
when the wrong doing is occurring within the federal government and/or secret intelligence
community. Who will stand up to these powers and what protection can policy afford those that

Voting System In America
Over seventy years ago, Joseph Stalin, leader of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, made a
remark about the democratic voting system in the United States. He stated, ...it is completely
unimportant who in the party will vote, or how; but what is extraordinarily important is this who
will count the votes, and how. Joseph Stalin, who once was a totalitarian dictator, was able to see
the loopholes in our democratic electionprocess that the American people never addressed, or they
simply ignored. An American s vote no longer matters in the way that it used to; In fact, this is
no longer an area of black and white, instead it has changed to an obscure gray field that shadows
over all Americans. The prestigious land of the United States, where democracy has been held up
for over two centuries, is no longer upholding the belief of one man one vote. Instead, it has
allowed the 528 votes of the Electoral Collegeto run rampant and impede on the founding beliefs
that all Americans hold dear. Our votingprocess, with the Electoral College in charge, no longer
speaks for the majority of the people in the United States of America.... Show more content on

The Prisoner Of War Camps
Many citizens of the United States immediately after the Civil War knew very little of the
atrocities of that occurred in the prisoner of war camps. News that their family member was in a
prisoner of war camp was usually dreaded by the family of the captured soldiers. While being
dead was much worse the families never truly knew what was going on inside the camps. For the
Confederacy, many feared Rock Island, but there was a just as deadly camp just north of Rock
Island in Chicago. Once the war had ended the atrocities of what occurred inside the prisoner of
war camps became apparent. Suddenly multiple fingers were pointed at what was the culprit for
such deplorable conditions. The pictures, descriptions, and accounts of what happened inside the
prisoner of war camps became a part of not only history but the media as well. Multiple books
were written about the prisoner of war camps, several works of fiction reference the prisoner of
war camps. Andersonville is almost unanimously regarded as the worst camp for a Union soldier
to get sent to. Rock Island seems to be the place that many agree as the worst camp that a
Confederate soldier could get sent to. Rock Island is even mentioned in several works of fiction,
including Gone With The Wind. In Gone With The Wind the main character Scarlett O Hara s
sister in law, Melanie Wilkes received a letter telling her that her husband Ashley Wilkes had been
captured and taken to a horrible place called Rock Island. However, while Rock

Socrates vs Protagoras
Philosophy
Socrates a sophist? Or just sophisticated?
Plato goes a long way in attempting to distinguish Socrates from the likes of Protagoras, a self
admitted sophist. In Protagoras, Socrates is depicted as a street smart, wisdom dispensing young
man, brash with confidence and a bit of arrogance that goes a long way when confronted with the
old school rhetoric of Protagoras. Plato begins to separate the two at the hip right from the get go.
The dialogue between Socrates and his inquisitive friend Hippocrates went a long way to show
that Socrates had more questions than answers about Protagoras, the sophist, especially when it
came to talk about what it is exactly that he offers. Socrates companion is eager to hear the words of

He preferred those who wish to learn from him, to come to him. The other sophist of the times
traveled through the towns teaching anyone at arms length, a method that was in much higher
danger of criticism than the one adopted by Protagoras.
A sophist would speak, a sophist would teach, a sophist would use language and words to
manipulate a situation to fit his point. A sophist would engulf you in his words and make the
impossible seem possible. A sophist would share his views on the world, life, and the future
with you; he would make you see the light of day even if it was night. A sophist was a wise man
who had the gift of gab, the ability to influence, the ability to sway, the ability to teach the young
how to be better speakers. All of the qualities that Socrates claimed he did not possess. Socrates
was depicted as a clever man, yet one who never taught, never persuaded, never tried to make his
thoughts shared by others. He was not a sophist, not a teacher, not a wise man . A wise man
knows that he knows nothing . Socrates always spoke of the fact that he was not a sophist because
he was only out for the truth. He never wanted you to believe his words just because they came out
of his mouth, he only asked the questions that were necessary to draw out the map to the truth
buried down below the layers of rhetoric.

AQUATIC PLANT SURVIVAL Do aquatic plants survive better by themselves or with the presence
of fish? Introduction Aquatic plants are plants that, overtime, have adapted to living submerged in
water, whether it be saltwater or freshwater. These plants are also referred to as hydrophytes or
macrophytes. All aquatic plants can only grow in water or soil that is always saturated with water
and commonly associated with wetlands. (Cook, 1974) Some principal factors in controlling the
distribution of the plants include duration of flooding, depth, nutrients and salinity. Water dwelling

United States Aggression Against Islam
United States aggression against Islam:
As noted above, the main goal of al Qaeda propaganda is to convince the Muslim world (ummah)
that the West is waging a war on (or conducting a crusade against) Islam. All of the detainees at
Guantanamo are Muslim, many were jailed without any involvement with al Qaeda, the Taliban, or
militant behavior at all, (Fox News) and some abused. (Center for Constitutional Rights) These
facts, manipulated correctly and placed into a certain context, could be used to convince a
susceptible audience that the United States is operating the prison partially to persecute Muslim
men, and as an example of the US targeting Muslims generally.
Al Qaeda uses this imagined war as a rallying cry to convince a small minority in the Muslim
world to join its cause, as well as a justification for its actions casting them as a defensive jihad
against the enemies of the faith. In situations when the faith is attacked, according to Daveed
Gartenstein Ross, each Muslim has an individual obligation to join the battle ... this must be done
by all Muslims, and as Todd Helmus writes, Al Qaeda thus calls Muslims to Islams defense. (121)
The Canadian Center for Intelligence and Security Studies report explains that, Al Qaeda s
propaganda portrays the current socio political system as one that oppresses and discriminates
against Muslims, who are the victims of an international world order dominated by the West the
aggressor and enemy of Islam. (ITAC

Why Did They Build Castles During The Middle Ages
Castles were built during the Middle Ages as fortified homes for kings and nobility. Why did
they build Castles? During the Middle Ages much of Europe was divided up between lords and
princes. They would rule the local land and all the people who lived there. In order to defend
themselves, they built their homes as large castles in the center of the land they ruled. They could
defend from attacks as well as prepare to launch attacks of their own from their castles. Originally
castles were made of wood and timber. Later they were replaced with stone to make them stronger.

Film Fun Home By Alison Bechdel
Alison Bechdel s comic book Fun Home clearly portrays the importance of gender roles in the
society. She mentions in her book incidents which illustrate as to how gender plays a major role in
forming a person s identity. Throughout the book, Bechdel suggests how the society has divided
people into different genders on the basis of appearance, duties and behavioural expectations. The
society as a whole needs to re asses these genderroles so that people don t end up ruining their life
thinking about what the society thinks.
In the beginning of the novel we see a difference of opinion between Bechdel and her dad
wherein, Bechdel wants to dress up her own way whereas her dad wants her accessories to
match her dress. This shows the importance of physical appearance in the society. Throughout
the story we see that Bechdel quarrels a lot with her family in regard to her dress code. Her
family seems to be always telling her to wear appropriate clothes according to her gender.
Bechdel seems to be annoyed with this. She states, Wearing a black dress my father had
wrestled me into, I appear to be in mourning (35). This clearly shows how opposed she is to the
way her father had forced her to dress up. She is a young child who is unaware of how gender

In Act 3 Scene 2 of Shakespeare s Play Julius Caesar ,...
I have studied Julius Caesar a play written by William Shakespeare. I focused the study on act 3
scene 2 the speeches by Brutus and Antony. I am looking at the persuasive techniques used by the
two speakers and why Antony s speech won over the crowd.
Julius Caesar has been an influential figure in history for 2000 years. Caesar was such a powerful,
heroic leader with his death a devastating civil war ensued.
Julius Caesar is so influential decisions made today in the present day idolise him like Kaiser of
Germany, Tsar of Russia and caesarean births. Julius Caesar s story shows a relationship with
modern day stories of deceit and tragedy with such a twisting and famous plot modern audiences
are still drawn to it.
Shakespeare has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Antony then tells the crowd that Caesar was not perfect and that he had made many mistakes, The
evil that men do lives after them this is like admitting Brutus is right about that but only that.
He then begins his attacks on Brutus speech; he manages to tackle Brutus points on why Caesar
should die. The first point he attacked was Brutus opinion of Caesar s ambition, Antony argues that
Caesar wasn t ambitious, I thrice presented him with a kingly crown, which he did thrice refuse,
This is a reasons that proved Brutus s main point incorrect.
The question Antony asked, Is this ambition? , is an obvious rhetorical question which makes the
crowd really think that what he s saying is obvious he also talks about Brutus being honourable at
the same time, this has an effect of causing the crowd to believe Brutus is lying and maybe
everything he has said may be questionable.
Antony then showed the bloody body of Julius Caesar. Antony identified each slice; and named
the man who did it. He made the gashes seem cowardly and pathetic like an attack from behind.
He shows the cut Brutus made and says how dearly Caesar loved him. This was the most
unkindest cut of all to emphasise that Brutus didn t really like Caesar at all, so Brutus must be
lying. He says most before unkindest but the word unkindest already has most in it represented as

Creative Writing Scary Night
This night calls to me for something is amiss in the air. I felt the subtle shift upon my rising and
now I ready myself to seek it out. Going to my weapons room selecting what I will need for the
night, the wariness in me grows. It feels as if there is something in the night seeking... but for
what or for whom...this is unclear. Adorning my weapons I make my way to the entrance,
scanning the area as I go. Getting ready to emerge into the night I suddenly feel it... the evil
whispering on the wind, the sudden sense of wrongness all around. Once outside, off in the
distance, the trees begin to part and the ground begins to blacken from evil s touch. Quickly
closing my eyes and taking a deep calming breath to mentally prepare myself for battle, I reach...

Noting that aside from my arm there are just minor scratches I turn towards the wolves and call
them forward to look them over as well. Come on guys; let me see if there is any damage. I

nothing that won t heal quickly I say as I gently run my hands over their coats to ensure there are
no major injuries sustained. Once assured they are fine, I sit and plunge my hand into the
ground finding good soil to pack my wounds. Then retrieving my weapons and stretching out my
arms and the pack merges with me once more as I turn and head back towards my home. There
is still uneasiness in the air, a signal of more trouble to come. Tonight though all is well and I
will rest well knowing there is one less undead roaming the forest. Reinforcing my resolve to

Personality Characteristics And Characteristics Of...
Personality, according to the American Psychological Association, refers to individual
differences in characteristic patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. The study of personality
focuses on two broad areas: One understands individual differences in particular personality
characteristics, such as sociability or irritability. The other area understands how the various
parts of a person come together as a whole. (Kumari, 2015). There are layers to every individual s
way of thinking and interacting with the world that are defined by their experiences and their
innate characteristics. These characteristics are displayed in every aspect of a person s life. The
personality is a fingerprint people instinctively leave when completing everyday tasks as well as
dealing with others. A person s behavior can become predictable because of the consistency of the
pattern of characteristics and actions the person displays. A person disposition, forces them to be
who they truly are and to live a life with accomplishments that reflect their views on the world
(Goodarzi, 2015). When determining personality, there are five approaches which researchers focus
on to determine one s personality. The first approach is the trait approach which concentrates on the
individual differences and the unique organization of the adaptations to the environment
determined by the psychological systems. Gordon Allport, a trait psychologist, believes the
development of traits supports a personological

Essay The Ethics of Sonography and Gendercide
The constantly growing field of medical technology has raised many questions especially pertaining
to ethics. The mapping of the human genome, cloning technologies, stem cell research, and of
course reproductive technology has caused some very real dilemmas over the role of the human
decision in the creation and orientation of new life. Humans are able to accomplish amazing things
in science, but at what cost? The ubiquitous nature of reproductive technology has caused a new
discipline of reproductive ethics. One such dilemma is that of selective abortiondue to sex
preference. In this paper I will discuss the ethics of gendercide and sonography s affect on this
practice
Sex selective abortion is the practice of terminating a pregnancy ... Show more content on

These technologies changed everything. Previously, parents would resort to infanticide to be sure
they could have a boy. Now parents who wanted a son, but balked at killing baby daughters were
able to choose abortion instead. Even today, there are no proven practices that allow gender
detection during the first trimester, and ultrasound is fairly unreliable until approximately the 20th
week of pregnancy. Consequently, sex selection often requires late term abortion of a fetus.
This practice not only affects the family but the society as a whole. It has caused an increase in
the imbalances between sex ratios. Boys are slightly more likely to die in infancy than girls. To
compensate, more boys are born than girls so there will be equal numbers of young men and
women at puberty. In all societies that record births, between 103 and 106 boys are normally
born for every 100 girls. The ratio has been so stable over generations that it appears to be the
usual order of things. That order has changed drastically in the last 25 years. According to research
the ratio today is 123 boys per 100 girls. These rates are not possible without human intervention.
There are many reasons as to why this practice has become so popular in many countries around
the world. It is said that by having a one child policy, China has increased the rate of abortion of
female fetuses. As most Chinese families are given incentives to have only one child, and would

Insulation Essay
Diana Flatsoussis
Review of Literature
Insulate to cover, line, or separate with a material that prevents or reduces the passage, transfer, or
leakage of heat, electricity, or sound (Insulate ,2015, pg.1). In this experiment insulation is the main
topic. Insulation is used in many things: a house, a refrigerator, walls, clothing, and types of
drinking cups. Installation can be made of materials like styrofoam, plastic, and fiberglass. These
can be used to keep things hot or cold. Insulation is most commonly for heat and maintaining heat
energy. This experiment tests the insulation of several cups and how they keep liquids hot. Each
cup used in the experiment has some insulation. The cups have different amounts of insulation.
Each of these cups are generally used as insulators for many liquids.
Insulation slows the process of heat leaving an object. Most insulation contains lots of air spaces.
The air spaces slow the flow of heat leaving the object because the heat takes longer to travel
through the air spaces. Insulation is a material or substance that is used to stop heat, electricity, or
sound from going into or out of something (Insulation, 2015, pg. 1). Insulation is commonly

The Progression and Evolution of Snowboarding Essay
Throughout time, the progression and evolution of snowboarding has increased greatly. It has gone
from non existence in the late 1970 s, to one of the most watched action sports in a matter of thirty
five years. The upward takeoff and popularity of snowboarding relies on two people, Jake Burton
and Shaun White. Jake Burton back in 1977 had the vision for what snowboardingwould be, but
Shaun White had what it took to manifest that vision. Evidence has shown that time brings change
in sports, history has repeated itself with snowboarding, this history reflects the time changes that
has occurred in America.
Snowboarding started as one single brand, Burton. Jake Burton, literally the inventor of
snowboarding, was the first to set the bar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To be apart of something permanent such as a Hall of Fame is another incredible achievement in
itself. The mediocre days of Burton up until the early 2000 s were close to an end. Jake Burton
and his company were about to take off due to a kid with a passion, a kid by the name of Shaun
White.
Snowboarding before the time of Shaun White was like the calm before the storm. At the age of
13 Shaun was professionally sponsored and on his way to changing snowboarding forever. With
so much skill and desire, Shaun brought the competition in and really took it to the next level.
Not long after his arrival, Shaun was already the face of snowboarding.to snowboarding None of
these accomplishments came easy for Shaun or his parents. Before the financial aid of the
corporate sponsors took place, Shaun White s snowboarding activities cost his parents $20,000
annually (Gale, 2006). The physical and financial dedication paid off in 1999 when Shaun was
first signed to Burton Snowboards. Not long after that, the winning began. Starting with a pair
of Silver medals in Halfpipe and Slopestyle during the 2002 X Games. Gold medals in Slopestyle
for 2003, 04, 05, 06. Gold medal in halfpipe 2003 as well as 2006. Finally, Winter Olympic halfpipe
gold medals in 2006 and 2010, with a total medal count of 15 medals (including bronze) between
2001 to 2010 (Gale, 2010). Arguably the winningest

The Experience Of War Essay
The Experience Of War Many authors have written about war themes, some extracts of the
stories and poems that I have read and researched are The Upturned Face by Steven Crane .It is
about a fictional war being fought in an imaginary Europe. Homage to Catalonia by George
Orwell describes his senses and feeling of getting shot in the neck during battle. Exposure by
Wilfred Owen, describes the horrors and reality of being in the trenches of the First World War.
And The Making of Me by Robert Westall is about a shell shocked grandfather who has the
responsibility of looking after his grandchild. In the Upturned Face by Steven Crane, a fictional

In Exposure by Wilfred Owen, Owen uses imagery of pain and suffering in the poem to recreate
the horrors of battle. The realities of battle are depicted powerfully, through the imagery of the
poem, Our brains ache ; like twitching agonies of men and worried by silence these phrases
describe the nervous strain of the soldiers in a war situation. Like twitching agonies of men
among its brambles. Is a good way of describing the spikes on the barbed wire, which surrounds
the trenches. Sudden successive flights of bullets streak the silence gives the reader a good idea
of the constant dangers of being in the trenches during the First World War. In The Making of
Me by Robert Westall, a shell shocked grandfather is given the responsibility of looking after his
grandson. At first the grandchild was frightened of his grandfather because of the stories he had
heard about his grandfathers violent drunken behaviour. When his second child was born dead, he
ripped the gas cooker from the wall and threw it downstairs. This describes that the war had
damaged him, causing him to over react when he got stressed. The grandfather had been gassed in
the trenches in the First World War. Unlike anybody else I knew, he had a chest, because he d been
gassed in the trenches. His chest fascinating symphony of noises at the best of times. Once without

Lion King Psychology
When first looking over this assignment, my first thought was why is the The Lion King on this
list? Being one of my favorite Disney movies, I felt like I remembered most of the movie pretty
well and there were none of the concepts sticking out to me. After tracking the movie down to
watch again, I realized how wrong I was. There are so many psychologyconcepts in this movie and
it truly was a different perspective to watch it while watching for these concepts also. While
explaining the concepts I found, I will try not to use Simba in each one! While researching

He starts out very angry with Simba and raises his voice, telling him how much danger he put

sometimes. Once Simba understands the lesson he is trying to teach, they play in the grass and
seem to forget all about this. This using both positive and negative reinforcement. Negative by

  • 2. A Community Mental Health Team While Working With A Client... Introduction This literature review and research proposal was motivated following a practice placement with a Community Mental Health Team while working with a client with Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD). GAD is a long term condition that causes someone to feel anxious about a wide range of situations and issues, rather than one specific event. GAD is a common mental health condition affecting 1 in every 25 people in the United Kingdom, its prevalence is slightly more among women than men and individuals between the ages of 35 and 55 (NHSChoices, 2014). People with GAD feel anxious most days and often struggle to remember the last time they felt relaxed (NHSChoices, 2014). Feeling anxious is a normal response to stressful experiences, however when anxiety is prolonged, inappropriate, and/or overwhelming to the point that it impacts on functioning, it becomes a pathological disorder (Davis, 2011). The anxiety, worry, or physical symptoms cause significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning (APA, 2000). Studies have shown that GAD is more impairing than other anxiety disorders (Hoffmann et al., 2009); and people afflicted with GAD have reported significantly less satisfaction with their quality of life in particular in the domains of self esteem, goals and values, money, work, play, learning, creativity, friends and family (Henning et al., 2007). Thus GAD has a disabling impact on an individual s occupation performance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Because of the fact that many of the companies have reached the maximum potential of the Six Sigma approach, what would be the next step for productivity improvement? Studies have shown that the design stage directly influences more than 70% of a product s life cycle cost. Companies with high product development effectiveness have earnings three times the average earnings, and have revenue growth two times the average revenue growth. These observations are persuading more and more companies to adopt improved product development processes under Taguchi Method. This method s approach is focused on increasing engineering productivity so that new products can be developed rapidly and at low cost, and value based management. Taguchi Method Strategy Variation reduction is recognized all around the world as a key to productivity improvement. There are many approaches to reducing the variability, each one having its place in the product development cycle. By focusing on variation reduction at the design stage, you can prevent failures in the following stages of a product s life cycle. The Six Sigma approach has made fantastic improvements in cost reduction by finding problems that occur in manufacturing operations and fixing the immediate causes. The Robust ... • 5. The Symbol of the Tower of London Ever since its creation by Gundolf in 1078, the Tower of London has served many purposes. Whether it was a royal residence or prison and torture chamber, most importantly, it has been a significant symbol and monument of English history and architecture. A small, modest building, many tourists are surprised to see the Tower of London, as it is not the magnificent, tall tower they were expecting. For some years, the Tower of London was used as a royal residence where monarchs would stay for a night before departing to continue their journey the next day. More interestingly, it was used as a prison, torture chamber, and execution grounds. Although, from the outside, the Tower of London is not very lavish when compared with the majestic, grand, and intricate buildings in England, it was once a desired place for royals to stay whether for one night or longer. During the time it was used as a royal residence, it was referred to as The White Tower, and was quite an alluring place. The Tower of London (or The White Tower) consisted of several buildings surrounded by a wall and mote. Later on after the construction was completed, Richard the Lionheart, Edward I, and Henry VIII enlarged the complex. Colorful, pretty, and comfortable, the Tower of London during its time as a royal residence contained more than just stone buildings it was a center of life. Thesis Statement Of Compulsory Licensing Different legal cultures are actually the most significant determinant to define the role of compulsory licensing, especially in the aspect of a remedy for anticompetitive conduct. Absence of specific guidance from Congress about how courts should issue a decree ordering a compulsory license, procompetitve outlook dominated policy makers opinions in the U.S. in the 1950 s. How to construct a purposive interpretation of Antitrust law also depends on the attitudes of policy makers, while surprisingly, there was a period courts showed hostility towards patentenforcement lasted until 1970 s. Twain s Diary entry style cleverly represents how differently, both the characters react and develop after meeting for the first time. Adam feels that Eve s introduction worsens his quality of life because he feels invaded and he longs for the comfort of his own solitude whereas, Eve is interested in Adam and doesn t like the feeling of solitude. As the diary entries progress it is Eve who takes the first steps to make the relationship work because unlike Adam, she can t deal with loneliness. Even though the situation seems hopeless, Eve is persistent and she believes that Adam would eventually get lonely and seek her out. She thinks this way because that is what she feels when she is lonely. Adam eventually allows Eve be a constant companion and accepts Eve s insistence in giving everything a name because he acknowledges that she is trying to be useful to him. Adam starts to use the word we instead of I because Eve has been using it meaning that although he doesn t particularly like her, he is still being influenced by her. Despite her discovery of fire, Adam is still unappreciative of her findings because he still sees no practical use for any of it even though Eve notices that the fire cooked the apples and made them taste better. Adam believes he has authority over Eve and it is evident when Eve tries to stop his dangerous adventures with the waterfall. Instead of listening to reason Adam ignores the scolding and continues his dangerous practice and Eve becomes resentful. In Adam s extract he finds that although Eve s enthusiasm for the beauty in the world useless it still opens his own eyes to it She is all girlish enthusiasm over the color of the sunset and similar phenomena, which he finds quite useless. But he is reduced to the prose poem type of description she gives to the dawn and sunset in regard to her beauty. These changes occurred due to the existence of different point of views. The North did not need slavery and acknowledge the cons of slavery while the South s want for slavery quickly became a need. After the American Revolution, The North slowly started to rid itself of slavery while the South implemented slavery into their daily lives. Slaves existed right from the start of American history and during the American Revolution. The British used the African American slaves to their advantage by granting them freedom in return. During this time period, the treatment of slaves improved because they were treated more like humans rather than farm animal. Some slave owners even allowed their slaves to purchase their freedom by working for them for a certain amount of time. Some African American slaves were not as lucky for their masters forbid them to do so (Doc F). As the North finally gets rid of all slave activity, the South becomes more and more dependent on slave labor and more embedded into the system. Both free and enslaved Africans were discriminated against in this time period but responded differently towards their challenges. African Americans found ways to cope with their situation one being religious gatherings (Doc D). They sang old traditional African songs and danced. By doing so, they can forget about life troubles for a moment and give themselves a sense of hope that someday they would by free. Some slaves where more violent than other and began rebellions against their white owners. The use of rebellion was inspired to them by the Bible and that God was pleading for their cause with earnestness and zeal (Doc G). Slaves who caused mischief was relocated deeper south where the treatment and condition was even worse. The Fugitive Slave Law forced the North to send back any slaves who escaped to the North in return for a reward. Slaves who tried to escape to the North were also relocated. By relocating them, the chances of escape decreased for them. Even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Application Of The Server Register A Callback Answer] When the client caches the data, the server register a callback, this enables the client to be informed about the data being modified. If a modification has taken place the server does not register the callback which means that it informs the client that the cached data is stale. The cached data is canceled by the client so that it can be accessed by local cache the next time it is accessed; the local cache will get the information from the server by installing the callback. This is the performance and correctness improvement over having the client periodically ask the server if its cached data is only the current data or not. The server can broadcast the changes to all the clients that cache the data, however, this approach fails when the server is not positive that is the clients will need the new data in the future. When a server hands out a callback on a file to a client, the server promises to contact the client before invalidating old copies of the file which might be cached at the client this is also known as breaking the callback, the client can use cached copies of the file freely if the callback has not been broken. 3. Consider a distributed file system that does client caching using write through. The system caches individual blocks, rather than entire files. Can the client in this system have a cache consistency problem? If so, suggest two possible solutions. Answer] Client caching causes inconsistency into the system. Consider a case where clients ... The great dominance of Boeing is due to its 1997 merger with McDonnell Douglas Corporation, an aerospace manufacturer, and its 1996 purchase of the defense and space units of Rockwell International Corporation, an aerospace contractor. Unfortunately, Boeing jets were involved in four fatal air accidents from December 1988 to March 1989, and the company missed its first delivery deadline in two decades when the 747 400 experienced production delays. Furthermore, worldwide orders of all aircraft by the airliners declined from 1,662 in 1989 to 439 in 1991. Fortunately, in 1993 NASA selected Boeing as the prime contractor for the International Space Station, which was called the largest international science and technology endeavor ever undertaken. Boeing was also becoming increasingly involved in commercial space projects and in December 1995 ten commercial space satellites were produced and launched from a floating platform at sea. • 15. The Intense Debate Over Cloning Technology has enabled people to realize many things their ancestors would not have even dreamed of. Cloning is absolutely one of them. Having identical twins without being born on the same they is like a dream come true. But what is cloning exactly? Cloning ,particularly in biotechnology, is the process used to create copies of DNA fragment, cells, or organisms. Attempts at cloningmight go back to much earlier times such as the attempt made by Hans Dreisch in the late 1800 s to clone a sea urchin, but it was not until 1951, when the first successful clone of frog egg was created, that goal was finally achieved. Still, the world had to wait for another 44 years before the first mammal was cloned. It was certainly sensational when the first cloned mammal, a sheep named Dollywas born on 5th July 1996. Since it was a milestone in humanstory, Dolly gained a world wide fame overnight and took its place in the front pages of many newspapers and even tabloids next to celebrities. However, there is a painful twist to this otherwise happy story because the death of Dolly at the age of six brought about an intense debate particularly about the ethical side of cloning and it has been a controversial issue ever since. Despite of all the debate it has caused among ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Design Of An Integrated Circuit CHAPTER 1 1.INTRODUCTION 1.1Overview Nowadays it is impossible to imagine any device where microelectronics is not present, from personal computers through home appliances, modern society relies on the performance of integrated circuits. It is so, that microelectronics advent has opened doors to new horizons where integrated circuits have played an important role from the very beginning of their creation since the late 1950s, when Jack St. Clair Kilby, a Texas Instruments Engineer, decided to change the future, conceiving the first integrated circuit, where the components, passive as well as active, were placed over a piece of semi conductive material (Germanium piece) that was half the size of a paper clip. The success of this element (called chip due to its small size) containing a few transistors, resistors, and capacitors, led to the Physics Nobel Prize for its inventor in 2000. The design of an integrated circuit involves a development plan, where its functional characteristics and performance will define the elaboration of the logic circuit diagram. Once the diagram is finished, a series of simulations are executed to test the operation of the designed circuit; if no issues are encountered, a massive production plan is implemented. This manufacturing process has allowed the miniaturization of most of the devices used daily, translating to lower production costs. The typical manufacturing process involves the interconnection of the integrated circuit chips to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Reflection On PARCC Test The testing process was a general meeting with the staff who are qualified to administer the PARCC exam. The principal ran through a state provided PowerPoint and provided the schedule that works well for the school. The principal explained the security measures as well as who to contact in case of emergencies or problems. There was also another meeting for the staff that could not attend the original. All staff members who were involved with PARCC testing had to sign a paper acknowledging that they attended the training. I was able to work with the secretary and principal to coordinate testing times. I also served as a testadministrator and shadowed the principal. In regards to the NJ ASK, there were multiple security components that had to be in order. First off, the tests had to be checked in by two people; the principal and the counselor who is also in charge of testing. The boxes of tests are then delivered to the testing closet where they are counted and checked in their designated area. This closet is locked all the time and only the principal has keys to it. The teachers were responsible to come to the testing closet to collect their materials. The principal was responsible to make sure that staff members sign out their bins and that all their materials are in the bin. Reflection As I reflect on state standardized test, I realize that budgeting extra time is always necessary. While all PARCC tests have enough time, there was a day where one 8th grade class started late and had technology issues. This caused a delay in lunches being served to the students. There was also another issue with the technology in general. Many computers did not load the tests as there was a JAVA update that needed to take place. There was also the issue with having the tests spread out over 7 days and the whole school testing window over a month. The vision is to have the students test on mine net books and I pads. While many schools do go that approach, I find that we would have to teach our students how to use these tools first prior to the test. This would take always instructional time. While we have ample computer labs to accommodate 6 classes at one time, it would cause a hardship on the schedule. I would prefer to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Law In Action The jury system was introduced in Queensland in 1867 as part of the Queensland Constitution Act. Juries are used in indictable offences in criminal trials. They are mainly used in the District and Supreme Court if the accused pleads guilty. Juries are used to decide the guilt or innocence, of the accused person, based on the facts and evidence provided in court by the Prosecution and Defence Council. The legislation that governs the jury system is the Jury Act 1995 (Queensland). Often times, the more that someone is pushed and forced in one direction, they will go the other in defiance. This is never more present than in the teenage years: where emotions and hormones are coursing through bodies at an all time high. When the pressure or influence becomes too much, some teens turn to drugs and alcohol. Laws are then broken and the government must put into place a system to fairly judge the juvenile crime. However, making it illegal does not stop minors from accessing and using drugs. Defiance, peer pressure, and curiosity all can lead to experimentation, but it is the psychological effects and addictions that can keep a teen wanting more. This is not a new factor in the United States and has been a battle for the government for many years. From the prohibition of alcohol, to bootlegging, to the uplifting of prohibition, alcohol has proven to be impossible to get rid of. Just like citizens of the past, teenagers are no exception to getting around the law to break it. However, the law is there for a reason, because alcohol and drugs can have some very serious side effects and consequences to the undeveloped, emotion controlled, teenage brain. Despite the repercussions, users still have many tactics to acquire the drug of their choice. The government tries to prevent the sales of drugs and alcohol to minors but there is only so much it can do past creating and attempting to enforce laws. Where laws really come into play is when a minor gets caught with the possession of or being under the influence of drugs. This is when the state has full control of punishing the offender or deciding a proper course for the offender to follow. The punishments and programs can go a long way and prevent the minor from using again but this is not ensured. No matter what, a teen will do what a teen wants to do. If they once desired an effect, it is probable that they might want one again. In 2081 the government wants everyone to be equal so they hand out handicaps to people with good looks, vision, strength, brains, and other talents. The couple, Hazel and George Bergeron, are watching dancers on tv when an announcer comes on. He says a person named Harrison Bergeronhas escaped prison. Then they hear a thud and see a figure matching Harrison s description at the door. He goes up to the stage, rips off his handicaps, and asks one of the dancers to volunteer to be his Empress. When one comes up he takes off her handicaps and they begin to dance. They start to float till they kiss the ceiling. The doors burst open and in walks the Handicapper General. She pulls out a gun and shoots them both. I m going to prove that the setting of this story needs more detail and that the characters, specifically Harrison and Hazel Bergeron, have nice subtle backstories. The three most frequently captured species in the recreational fishery were Diplodus annularis (Sparidae), Coris julis (Labridae), and Serranus scriba (Serranudae). Scriba has changed this species habits and eventually increasing the need for reproduction, in turn decreased the size of the adult body. The natural stressor of evolution has actually resulted in a shift from growth to keeping the species alive due to the abundance of angling (requests). The events that happen in the book are extraordinary circumstances. After all, a boy doesn t find a dead dog and discover that his mother is alive every day. Christopher thinks logically, and approaches new and confusing situations as according. Therefore, It may appear that he is growing, but in reality, he is only adapting and reacting accordingly.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because he thinks in this rigid caste like system, he leaves little room for change. His brain works like a computer, as he takes in data and interprets as such. After he has experienced his life changing event, he continues to think logically by taking his new experiences and basing new thoughts and insights on them. This is the only place where he seems to have shown growth. In the end, he has gained enough confidence to deal with life in a more efficient way. In his final writing to the audience, he states that I found my mother and I was brave and I wrote a book and that means I can do anything (Haddon 221). Even so, this is still only Christopher acknowledging his logical responses to extraordinary events. Throughout the entirety of the novel he has shown that instead of growing as a person, he has instead adapted to the various problems that he had to face, and in his mind, that is just as useful as anything ... During the Middle Ages much of Europe was divided up between lords and princes. They would rule the local land and all the people who lived there. In order to defend themselves, they built their homes as large castles in the center of the land they ruled. They could defend from attacks as well as prepare to launch attacks of their own from their castles. Originally castles were made of wood and timber. Later they were replaced with stone to make them stronger. Castles were often built at the top of hills or where they could use some natural features of the land to help with their defense. Thus she came up with the title for her speech, Looks Aren t Everything... Believe Me, I m a Model. . The industry drowns out personal values, views, and appearances to warp these characteristics into a general image accepted by the masses, according to Russell. She describes her view on modeling, and how it essentially made her feel like a hard shell of a person with no inner value. She ended by encouraging people to find a balance between outward appearance and inner beauty. Looks Aren t Everything.... Believe Me, I m a Model is categorized as TED talk. • 38. Film Fun Home By Alison Bechdel Alison Bechdel s comic book Fun Home clearly portrays the importance of gender roles in the society. She mentions in her book incidents which illustrate as to how gender plays a major role in forming a person s identity. Throughout the book, Bechdel suggests how the society has divided people into different genders on the basis of appearance, duties and behavioural expectations. The society as a whole needs to re asses these genderroles so that people don t end up ruining their life thinking about what the society thinks. In the beginning of the novel we see a difference of opinion between Bechdel and her dad wherein, Bechdel wants to dress up her own way whereas her dad wants her accessories to match her dress. This shows the importance of physical appearance in the society. Throughout the story we see that Bechdel quarrels a lot with her family in regard to her dress code. Her family seems to be always telling her to wear appropriate clothes according to her gender. Bechdel seems to be annoyed with this. She states, Wearing a black dress my father had wrestled me into, I appear to be in mourning (35). This clearly shows how opposed she is to the way her father had forced her to dress up. She is a young child who is unaware of how gender appearances decide the character of a person. Bechdel doesn t care about what the society thinks about her. For her dressing up the way she wants to is most important. Another instance is when her dad forces her to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I focused the study on act 3 scene 2 the speeches by Brutus and Antony. I am looking at the persuasive techniques used by the two speakers and why Antony s speech won over the crowd. Julius Caesar has been an influential figure in history for 2000 years. Caesar was such a powerful, heroic leader with his death a devastating civil war ensued. Antony then tells the crowd that Caesar was not perfect and that he had made many mistakes, The evil that men do lives after them this is like admitting Brutus is right about that but only that. He then begins his attacks on Brutus speech; he manages to tackle Brutus points on why Caesar should die. The first point he attacked was Brutus opinion of Caesar s ambition, Antony argues that Caesar wasn t ambitious, I thrice presented him with a kingly crown, which he did thrice refuse, This is a reasons that proved Brutus s main point incorrect. The question Antony asked, Is this ambition? , is an obvious rhetorical question which makes the crowd really think that what he s saying is obvious he also talks about Brutus being honourable at the same time, this has an effect of causing the crowd to believe Brutus is lying and maybe everything he has said may be questionable. Antony then showed the bloody body of Julius Caesar. Antony identified each slice; and named the man who did it. He made the gashes seem cowardly and pathetic like an attack from behind. He shows the cut Brutus made and says how dearly Caesar loved him. This was the most unkindest cut of all to emphasise that Brutus didn t really like Caesar at all, so Brutus must be lying. • 41. Personality Characteristics And Characteristics Of... Personality, according to the American Psychological Association, refers to individual differences in characteristic patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. The study of personality focuses on two broad areas: One understands individual differences in particular personality characteristics, such as sociability or irritability. The other area understands how the various parts of a person come together as a whole. (Kumari, 2015). There are layers to every individual s way of thinking and interacting with the world that are defined by their experiences and their innate characteristics. These characteristics are displayed in every aspect of a person s life. The personality is a fingerprint people instinctively leave when completing everyday tasks as well as dealing with others. A person s behavior can become predictable because of the consistency of the pattern of characteristics and actions the person displays. A person disposition, forces them to be who they truly are and to live a life with accomplishments that reflect their views on the world (Goodarzi, 2015). When determining personality, there are five approaches which researchers focus on to determine one s personality. The first approach is the trait approach which concentrates on the individual differences and the unique organization of the adaptations to the environment determined by the psychological systems. Gordon Allport, a trait psychologist, believes the development of traits supports a personological ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Essay The Ethics of Sonography and Gendercide The constantly growing field of medical technology has raised many questions especially pertaining to ethics. The mapping of the human genome, cloning technologies, stem cell research, and of course reproductive technology has caused some very real dilemmas over the role of the human decision in the creation and orientation of new life. Humans are able to accomplish amazing things in science, but at what cost? The ubiquitous nature of reproductive technology has caused a new discipline of reproductive ethics. One such dilemma is that of selective abortiondue to sex preference. In this paper I will discuss the ethics of gendercide and sonography s affect on this practice Sex selective abortion is the practice of terminating a pregnancy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These technologies changed everything. Previously, parents would resort to infanticide to be sure they could have a boy. Now parents who wanted a son, but balked at killing baby daughters were able to choose abortion instead. Even today, there are no proven practices that allow gender detection during the first trimester, and ultrasound is fairly unreliable until approximately the 20th week of pregnancy. Consequently, sex selection often requires late term abortion of a fetus. This practice not only affects the family but the society as a whole. It has caused an increase in the imbalances between sex ratios. Boys are slightly more likely to die in infancy than girls. To compensate, more boys are born than girls so there will be equal numbers of young men and women at puberty. In all societies that record births, between 103 and 106 boys are normally born for every 100 girls. The ratio has been so stable over generations that it appears to be the usual order of things. That order has changed drastically in the last 25 years. According to research the ratio today is 123 boys per 100 girls. These rates are not possible without human intervention. There are many reasons as to why this practice has become so popular in many countries around the world. It is said that by having a one child policy, China has increased the rate of abortion of female fetuses. As most Chinese families are given incentives to have only one child, and would ... Insulation Essay Diana Flatsoussis Review of Literature Insulate to cover, line, or separate with a material that prevents or reduces the passage, transfer, or leakage of heat, electricity, or sound (Insulate ,2015, pg.1). In this experiment insulation is the main topic. Insulation is used in many things: a house, a refrigerator, walls, clothing, and types of drinking cups. Installation can be made of materials like styrofoam, plastic, and fiberglass. These can be used to keep things hot or cold. Insulation is most commonly for heat and maintaining heat energy. This experiment tests the insulation of several cups and how they keep liquids hot. Each cup used in the experiment has some insulation. The cups have different amounts of insulation. Each of these cups are generally used as insulators for many liquids. Insulation slows the process of heat leaving an object. Most insulation contains lots of air spaces. The air spaces slow the flow of heat leaving the object because the heat takes longer to travel through the air spaces.
