Myleswamy Annadurai was the project director of Chandrayaan-1 and Chandrayaan-2. Chandrayaan-1 was India's first unmanned lunar probe, launched in 2008 and operated until 2009. It made several discoveries about the moon, including the widespread presence of water molecules and that the moon was once completely molten. However, the star sensors failed after nine months and the spacecraft suffered excessive radiation, leading to its orbit being raised and earlier end of mission than planned.
