Celador is a small British film and television production company founded in 1981 by Paul Smith and Jasper Carrott. It produces movies and television shows on a small budget by collaborating with other companies. Some of its most well-known and successful projects include the movie Slumdog Millionaire and providing content for The Simpsons TV show. While it competes against larger production companies, it is able to find success by carefully managing its budgets and collaborating with other smaller companies.

Started by Paul Smith and Jasper Carrott in 1981 to make
a movie which then caused it to increase in popularity
across the UK.
It was taken over by complete communications.
Complete Communications wanted to then sell it.
Celador management bought it back.

3. Operating model
They are a small company making movies one at a time.
First they are given a budget which they then use to work out
how they are going to make their film and what equipment they
will need.
They then get together with other smaller companies which can
help them make the movie.
At one point, before completion, they can sell the product to a
distributor for more funds.
Finally they have to license it by selling it to a big company.

5. Marketing
• They are successful after making seven films in ten years
• While Film 4, DNA productions and Sony are competitors,
they also occasionally work together on their projects.
• These are bigger companies and only have a larger potential
due to their larger budgets.
• This means these three competitors usually get more profit.
• DNA made films like Dredd (Therefore they are not the most
creative company)
• Sony made films like Spiderman (Making it very popular)
• Film 4 fund and distribute films (Like a copy of Netflix)
