Celador is an entertainment company founded in 1983 by Paul Smith and Jasper Carrott that produces films and television shows. It is best known for producing the game show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" in 1998. As an independent production company, Celador works with other small companies and freelance staff to produce its projects and funds new works through profits from past successes. Some of Celador's most notable films include Slumdog Millionaire (2008) and The Descent (2005). While Celador finds success making independent films, it earns less than major studios like Sony due to Sony releasing more widely distributed films with higher budgets.
