Discover Glossary<br />Cedric Anover<br />New media: is an interactive forms of communication that use the internet, including podcasts, RSS Feeds, social networks, text messaging, blogs, wikis, and virtual worlds.<br />High definition television: is video that has resolution substantially higher than that of traditional television system.<br />Newsgroups: are internet discussion forums where group of users with common interests gather to talk about everything from software to comic books to politics.<br />Email: is a protocol for receiving, sending, and storing electronic messages. <br />Weblogs/Blogs: is basically a journal that is available on the web.<br />Wikis: is a piece of server software that allows users to freely create and edit web page context using any web browser.<br />Social networking: is based on a certain structure that allows people to both express their individuality and meet people with similar interests. <br />Podcasts: is a series of digital media files that are released episodically and often downloaded through web syndication. <br />Social bookmarking: is a method for internet users to organise, store, manage and search for bookmarks of resources online.<br />Viral videos: is one that becomes popular through the process of internet sharing, typically through video sharing websites, social media and email.<br />RSS (Really Simple Syndication): is a technology that is being used by millions of web users around the world to keep track of their favourite websites.<br />Tag cloud: is a visual depiction of user-generated tags, or simply the word content of a site. <br />Virtual world: is a genre of online community that often takes the form of a computer-based simulated environment, through which users can interact with one another and use and create objects. <br />Web 2.0: is associated with web applications that facilitate participatory information sharing, interoperability, user-centred design, and collaboration on the World Wide Web.<br />Web 1.0: refers to the first stage of the World Wide Web linking webpages with hyperlink.<br />Web 3.0: refers to the predicted third generation of the World Wide Web, usually conjectured to include semantic tagging of content. <br />Virtual identity: A figure in the work created by the programmer or the user. <br />
