2. The Manorial System Used In The Middle Ages
Manorialism was a system used in the Middle Ages by which the Lord of a manor utilized the
serfs and tenants who worked on his land. The manor system not only rested on sets of rights and
obligations but was also the basic economic arrangement. It was the economic portion of feudalism
where all parts of life were centered on the lords manor. This system involved a hierarchy of
obligations that in exchange for land, you had to complete labor. This allowed the lord of the
land to have governmental power which included the maintenance of a court. The lord s land
covered a few miles of land. Most lord s owned a manor house, a church, and workshops. Streams
would pass through villages and would provide fish, while the mill was used for grinding

3. Allowed To Vote
Scott Berry Mrs. Secker English I 1 February 2017 Should the voting Age be Lowered to 15?
Today our government is controlled by the people, so therefore we the people need to make sure
that that the people who are voting to alter the government are mature enough to make adult
decisions. Today s teenagers think they are entitled to everything that life has to offer them, and
this includes the right to vote. Why do grown individuals think it is a good idea to let our children,
our youth make decisions that could affect us all when they have not received their high school
diploma? Teenagers are simply not mature enough to make the decisions that come with the right to
vote. Some people argue that not all teens are immature and should be... Show more content on

Young teens argue that if they are given adult responsibilities, like paying taxes on certain
things, then they should be able to partake in government elections. A large group of people
have said that if teens are forced to pay taxes on the items they buy and the money that they earn
from their job then how is it fair that they can t vote to change something that directly affects
them. On average people from the ages of 15 18 pay an average of $9.7 billion in sales tax alone
(Top Ten Reasons to Lower the Voting Age). Young teens want to be able to alter the
government that they will be living in. They say during a local election most teens have grown
up or lived near that area and when they turn 18 most of them be on their way to college to start a
new life. Rebecca Tilsen once argued in front of a courtroom that if teens are old enough to live in
poverty, if they are old enough to be sick due to the poor healthcare system provided to them by the
government, that means that they are old enough to vote to change that (The Teen Brain: Still Under

4. Summary Of Similes By Armst Bryant
Bryant, an adolescence in the year 1811, wrote a poem that shows how he views the world, but
was he a protegee of philosophy or was he just following the hip new thing? Bryant uses
figurative language, a store of information and imagery that has only one purpose, to compare
two things to make a point. Similes and metaphors are most commonly used, although there are
alternative types of figurative language. Firstly, we will look at metaphors he uses in his poem,
secondly, the similes we are examined, and finally, I will explain how they further Bryant s
purposes for the poem. Bryant chisels figurative language into his poem, like a well seasoned
craftsman, chisels a long awaited for work of art. But to what purpose does he use it; why do we
have this poem? Bryant uses figurative language to comfort his reader and bids them to accept the
eventuality of their own death. Bryant almost immediately starts Thanatopsis with a metaphor that
introduces the reader to the themes of this poem. Metaphors are relating to unrelated things to
elaborate on a point. It takes an effort to find metaphors in poems because they are often on
abstract ideas. Bryant uses the metaphor, not to abstract, but to express an idea. Bryant uses the
image of a woman to symbolize Mother Earth. She has a voice of gladness, and a smile/ and
eloquence of beauty; and she glides/ into his darker musings, with a mild/ and healing sympathy
that steals away their sharpness ere he is aware... This metaphor

One alternative possibility that could be strong considered is Pulsed Lorentz Force Acceleration

7. How Does Separation Of Powers Dominate Parliament
The British uncodified constitution is not a single document but is comprised of several discrete
bills. The constitution is essentially a set of the Most Important Rules with the primary purpose of
regulating how the nation should be run. It additionally grants power to the law maker, which is
Parliament(House of Commons, House of Lords, and the Monarch).
This essay will explore the extent of legislative power Parliament holds, specifically examining the
concept of Parliamentary sovereignty, the separation of powers and Dicey s rule of law. However,
there is a school of thought that Devolution can undermine Parliaments supremacy, despite this it
will be argued that within the UK constitution Parliament does have unlimited legislative ... Show

Since, Devolution has led to a persistent demand for the transfer of more legislative power to
Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, thwarting the flexibility and function of Westminster s
Parliament. It is most useful to discuss the Scotland act because the Scottish Parliament has the
greatest delegated power including the power to pass primary legislation. Lord Cooper argues that
Parliamentary Sovereignty is not a principle that exists in the Scottish Parliament. It is a statutory
rule that where a subject matter has been devolved to another Parliament or is not a reserved matter
such as education and health, then Westminster cannot usually legislate on that matter in the
absence of consent of the Scottish Parliament . The Sewel convention makes that clear and suggests
how devolved matters could limit Westminster, however in the Scotland act it is stated that this will
not affect Parliament s legislative powers. In addition, Ministerial appointments in Scotland still
need approval by the Queen in Parliament. Possibly showing how the Westminster still upholds
supremacy on Scottish decisions. Also in theory, Westminster could legislate in areas of devolved
competence, contrary to the wishes of the Scottish parliament, although it rarely would. If
Westminster wanted to repeal the Scotland act 1998 and abolish the Scottish Parliament to reclaim
delegated powers, it could through its unlimited legislative powers. Since the Scotland act is just
an ordinary act that Parliament has the power to repeal like any other law, even if people argue that
this act possess extra validity . Similarly Westminster could legislate to prohibit Scottish MP s from
voting on legislation relating only to England as the West Lothian question challenged. Overall,
Devolution does not represent a challenge to the doctrine of Parliamentary

10. Magical Realism In Big Fish
Through viewing Big Fish, by Tim Burton and reading both of Marquez s stories (Handsomest
Drowned Man In The World and A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings), it becomes apparent
that while both novels vary greatly in plot and storyline, they are also both centered around the
concept of magical realism. For example, Big Fish is a story about a young mAn who visits his
dying father, but throughout the story, is introduced to various magical entities, which introduce an
almost fantasy like theme to the story. In Marquez s stories, one is about a handsome drowned
man and the other is about a dirty, raggedy angel. We are similarly shown this sense of an ordinary
reality, with a certain twinge of magic/fantasy. So while this film and these novels are completely
different in the terms of context and storyline, they share these elements of fantasy, that seamlessly
blend together to create a realistic, yet magical atmosphere that provides the reader with a unique
and capturing experience.
In both Big Fish and Marquez s stories, the characters play a pivotal role in establishing the themes
of magical realism. In A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings: A Tale for Children, we are
introduced to one of the main characters, Pelayo. Pelayo is quite ordinary character, one that does
not exhibit any magical traits that would depict magical realism. Instead, the author uses Pelayo to
create a ordinary/everyday reality by establishing a character that does not have any sort of

There are many reasons for knowing the identity of microorganisms. The reasons range from
knowing the causative agent of a disease in a patient, so as to know how it can be treated, to
knowing the correct microorganism to be used for making certain foods or antibiotics. This study

Nitrate reduction was tested for by inoculating a nitrate broth with the unknown gram ( ) culture,
and allowing growth to take place. Adding 2 drops of both sulfanilic acid and О± napththylamine
to the medium if the first test to see if nitrite is present. If nitrite is present, the medium turns red,
indicating a positive test. However, if the medium does not change, a second test is performed to
see if nitrite was further reduced. In this second test, zinc powder is added to the broth to catalyze
the reduction of any nitrate present to nitrite. If nitrate is present when the zinc is added the
reduction of this compound will cause the medium to turn red, from the previously added reagents.
Red medium on the second addition indicates nitrate was not reduced and a negative test result.
However, if the medium does not change after the addition of the zinc, the unknown is positive for
nitrate reduction, as the nitrite has just been further reduced, preventing its detection. The result
that yielded was positive on the first step.

12. Nietzsche Evil
What is it that makes something good? What is it that makes something evil? These are questions
that were asked by Nietzsche in his work, Beyond Good and Evil. Nietzsche s answers to these
questions were simple; good and evil are ambiguous because they are ultimately subjective. Thus,
good and evil are the same thing; yet at the same time, they are complete opposites. Now, this
statement is radically paradoxical, but I hope to open your mind up to this concept and explain the
importance of recognizing the thin line between good and evil. Everyone s idea of good and evil are
dependent on many things, which is why one person s idea on good and evil cannot be
completely relied on. Relying on one person s interpretation of good and evil leads to total bigotry.

To Nietzsche, good and evil are always subjective, but I believe that there is one thing in this world
full of ambiguity and fogginess that is always good. That thing is the power of human love; and
furthermore expressing that love through unwavering love of our fellow man. Raw human love
cannot possibly be evil. It is the purest, most basic, and most important human emotion to master.
If everyone would just love each other despite our different interpretations of good and evil, the
world would be a much better place. I think that no matter what religion or culture someone is
raised in, love of one another is always regarded as good. Sometimes we all need to be reminded
to love our fellow humans regardless of our religion, political outlook, and ideas of good and
evil because they are subjective. Love exists beyond good and evil. Now let us discuss the
counterpart to good; can anything be inherently evil? Again, Nietzsche would say that nothing is
inherently evil, because good and evil are one in the same, however I once again beg to differ. I
believe that the absence of love is the only truly evil thing in existence. When we forget to love one
another,

server to thousands of servers. Big Data is changing the way business decisions are made. It is
no longer a passing fad and if companies are not extracting insights from the data collected, they

18. Jon Krakauer s Into Thin Air
The particular descent ahead of those on the hill on May 10, 1996, resulted in the greatest loss of
life in the history of mountaineering on Everest. As news spread of the nine deaths (including that
of Hall, who spoke to his wife in New Zealand by radiophone as he lay stranded in a snowstorm on
the summit ridge), a barrage of questions resounded: What went wrong? Why was the approaching
storm ignored? And, most emphatically, why are tourists with more money than expertise being
taken up Everest in the first place?
Jon Krakauer was one of the survivors, and in Into Thin Air he relives the storm and its aftermath,
trying to answer those questions. As he sees it, essentially nothing went wrong, at least in terms of
the storm, which struck with little warning. Instead, the root of the problem lies in the famous
explanation George Mallory gave when asked why he wanted to climb the mountain, an explanation
that still holds true, albeit with a slight amendment. People climb Mount Everest because it and the
money is there.

20. Latinos, Politics, and American Cinema Essay
Latinos, Politics, and American Cinema
Feature films in the United States influence American viewers attitudes on a wide variety of
topics. Americans attitudes toward politics are shaped by films, and specifically the politics of
racial interaction. The history of modern feature films begins with Birth of a Nation (1915), a film
that misrepresents the Black race by justifying the existence and role of the Ku Klux Klan in
American society. From this racist precedent, producers and directors understood that visual
messages, however latent, were a useful means of communicating a political message to a large
audience. After this epiphany, a myriad of films were made for different political causes. Most
films had multiple messages, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stam states that this discourse is beside the point because it is impossible to make a realistic film.
The fact that film watching is an escapist endeavor cannot be denied, but the problem lies in the
fact that modern Western society has to see it to believe it, and subsequently viewers associate films
with a sense of the real. Stam is right in saying that a realistic film cannot be made, but he ignores
the fact that the stereotypes he dismisses had very real political messages in the Wellesera. The
presence of these racial and political messages in films cannot be denied because to a large extent
they account for the racist attitudes against Latinos that persist today in White mainstream America.
Later in film s history, the Chicano resistance movement sought to change the overall racist views
that, by the 1970 s had been embedded in the American psyche. The conservative stereotypes of
violent, sex crazed Latinos had a negative impact on the race s treatment, so Luis Valdez and his
cohorts presented a liberal brand of politics to counter this racism, using films that embraced the
true Chicano cultural identity.
The history of film is essentially one of representation of certain groups, or as the case may be,
misrepresentation. After America s short stint with Nickelodeon type movie theatres, full length
feature films became the norm with Birth of a Nation (1915). D.W. Griffith used the film to
innovate cinematography, but made few compromises to create a

levels. This review mainly focuses on the kick sampling technique for collecting
macroinvertebrates. It then describes the methods that are used to collect the levels of ammonia,
phosphorus, BOD and nitrogen. Foy et al (2001) wished to access the effectiveness of regulatory
controls on farm pollution using chemical and biological indices of water quality and pollution
statistics. The water quality was tested in 42 streams in the Colebrooke and Upper Bann
catchments in Northern Ireland during 1990 1998. This was a large timescale therefore more
results were collaborated. The method used to collect the samples of invertebrates was kick
sampling, these samples were then taken back to the laboratory to identify them. Using the BMWP
scoring system a score was then given to the macroinvertebrates, relating to how organic pollution
had affected them, with 1 being tolerant and 10 being highly sensitive. To know the pollution
statistics there was recorded incidents on farm pollution assessed between 1987 and 1997, this was
from a relational farm pollution database. The measurements that Foy et al (2001) took were

22. Anne Bradstreet Beliefs
Faith and God are tendencies in several of Anne Bradstreet s poems. She epitomizes God as an
equitable force in life that commands humans and their hindmost faith. In her poem, Anne
Bradstreet depicts how sensibility in one s mind can be heavily disturbed by material
dispossession even when God is our principal concern in life, and no matter how devout the
person is. The sudden impact of her house burning down with her possessions was a very harsh
one. We can realize her struggle and pain through the event by how her poem reflects with grief
and sorrow, in lines 8 10, she begs God not to leave her helpless. Even though her pain is not
relieved quickly, we can see how her faith in God gives her strength and hope for something better,
and she acknowledges God as an unbiased ruler that will reward pure people in the afterlife.... Show

She demonstrates us that immense personal losses are hard to confront, but that at the closure of
our lives, these items turn out to be worthless and that nothing can correlate to what God has for
us in Heaven, this proven by line 36, Adieu, Adieu, all s vanity , and line 38 where she questions
the true value (nothing) of these losses. Afterwards she falls into details about the gift we can all
receive if we have pure hearts that deserve it. We can see a comparison of a house in heaven to a
house in Earth, and two profound differences the house on heaven had were that it was created by
the Architect or God(line 44) and that it was eternal(line

23. Discuss Strategies That Aid In Reading Comprehension
Chapters 6 through 9 discuss strategies that aid in comprehension. These chapters dive deeper into
strategies that will help a reader s comprehension while thoroughly explaining strategies that should
be implemented in a classroom. One main point is that readers should follow their thinking tracks
and explore their thinking and be able to notice when they are straying away from the meaning of
the reading. It s important that students are able to make connections while they re reading.
Another main point would be that questions help clarify and unlock a deeper meaning while
reading. Visualizing and inferring is an important aspect for reading because it helps aid in
understanding. Comprehension strategies allow readers to know a variety of tools that are
beneficial. An inner conversation develops when readers are aware of their own thoughts and are
able to connect their thoughts to the text. Reading comprehension is an ongoing process of
evolving thinking. This idea stood out to me because I think it s important to emphasis the aspect
of it being an ongoing process. Students should be taught... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Activating their background knowledge helps readers make connections to a text. Making
connections to personal experience facilitates understanding. This idea stood out to me because it s
important for readers to connect what they already know to what they are reading. Background
knowledge helps students connect with the text. It also helps them make comparisons and develop
a better understanding. When a reader already has the knowledge about a subject then they are able
to create a bridge to what they are reading. This connection will help them understand the text and
aid in their comprehension. I think background knowledge is beneficial for students because they
can create self to text, text to text, and text to world connections. These connections will help them

The supply of coffee is affected by weather conditions, and the health of coffee trees. According
to the article Coffee Industry to Adopt New Pricing Plans, the major players in the coffee
industry have seen profits decline because of over crowding of the market. An over crowded
market will give the coffee suppliers bargaining power. As Broadway Cafe demands high quality
coffee and there is no availability of substitutes for the coffee beans that Broadway Cafe use.
Therefore, the bargaining power of supplier increases. Threat of Substitute Products In the
premium foods and coffees industry, there are substitute products. According to Mary Coulter, the
best way to evaluate this threat is to ask whether other industries can satisfy the customer need
that this industry is satisfying (Coulter). Other beverage industries can satisfy the customer s need
for a drink, and other food industries can satisfy the customer s need to eat. There are obviously
good substitutes to Broadway products and the threat is high. This is why it is very important for
Broadway Cafe, to innovate and differentiate. By providing free Wi Fi in the Cafe and marketing

26. Essay on Why the Design Argument Fails
Why the Design Argument Fails The Design Argument does fail due to its weaknesses, it is
lacking in factual and substantial evidence to prove its theories. It puts forward a lot of ideas and
claims however they are not justified well enough; the only true fact is that you have to believe
them. I feel it is correct to claim that it fails due to the amount of criticising evidence against the
theories for the existence of God.
The main philosopher to criticise and object to the Teleogical Argument was David Hume. He
looked at every point towards the existence towards a creator and designer and then thought
logically about the condemnation and came up with rebuttals. He realised that ... Show more content

He then compares a watch against a floating vegetable. A clock to a large organic mass is not
possible to compare. It would be better to compare it to an immense floating object. He is stating
how absurd it is that a small simple item could be linked to such a powerful designer. You cannot
link a watch towards something, which is a far more superior, and multitasking being. Like many
of these assumptions they are lacking concrete evidence to prove it, it is just a theory and therefore
weakens the argument towards the existence of a creator.
Another protestation, which Hume makes, is the difference between the world at present and
the world at birth. He asks how we can link what was then from what we see now, the time
difference is too great and too big of an assumption. When we link the dinosaurs and try to
analysis their life and habits we can only learn from what we have. Then we tend to assume
what time period they lived and who hunted whom. Once again there is no real evidence to prove
where or when they existed and this is just like the creator theories. We assume and try to link
things together from what we have without looking at all the evidence and waiting for 100%
accurate facts. So we just predict and say it is the way forward. However this is incorrect and
therefore false to state this. Yet many Philopshers tend to say that it is

isn t addressing, that funding is not enough to help these forty nine million Americans struggling
to get enough food to feed themselves and their families. We need to provide them the food that
they need in order to survive, but we also must devise a plan to give them the healthiest and

For states that have needed more help to become healthier in their food choices such as southern
states like Alabama and Georgia, they could receive a higher rebate of $0.45 for every dollar
they spend on fruits and vegetables. Adding this incentive into the program is expected to
actually increase consumption of fruits and vegetables by twenty five percent, according to the
Healthy Incentives Pilot program in Massachusetts. This policy should be enacted because as of
right now there is no other way to promote spending on healthier choices when the prices on
these choices are already so high for low income families. In order to expand the SNAP program
to fund this incentive, we need to allow for more government spending on this program. Though
this would lead to higher debt for our domestic consumption, it would help those in the U.S. who
have virtually nothing to eat. We plan on getting the money to fund this by allocating money from
other unneeded government purchases such as the ones in our so called, waste book . Another
alternative to the rebate plan is a commonly used idea to fix any economic problem, taxing the top
one percent. We think that this would work in the way of providing more food for the hungry
because if the rich give just a little bit more of their already high income to help the 8.3 million

Fire, the red room and the splintered chestnut tree are all very powerful and symbolic objects
that play a big role in the story of Jane Eyre; and it also symbolizes Jane as a person who has many

Jane and how it all ties together as a story.
A candle is a very accurate representation of fire. I chose a candle as an object that represents Jane
because of the passion and fury that she demonstrates in the first stage of her life, at Gateshead.
Fire is symbolic of her emotions and how she truly feels. The following quotes will represent much

Wicked and cruel! I said. You are a like a murderer you are like a slave driver you are like the

She is super mad at him and calls him cruel and a murderer . The way in which she goes off on

34. Ring Of Power In Plato s Republic
In Plato s Republic, many stories are used as allusions and metaphors to describe the issues
being discussed. One of these stories is known as the Ring of Gyges , which focuses on a ring
with the power to turn the wearer invisible. This story has many similarities to the Ring of Power
in The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit, which also grants the ability to turn invisible. In this
essay, I will compare and contrast the Ring of Gyges and the events surrounding the Ring of Power
in The Lord of the Ringsand The Hobbit film trilogies. The Ring of Gyges is found when a violent
thunderstorm and an earthquake broke open a chasm in the ground (38). The Ring of Power is also
found within the ground, by a curious Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins. This occurs when Bilbo is lost
within the goblin city, when he runs into the deformed Gollum. In the other story, the ring is
found on, a corpse, which seemed to be of more than human size (38). Gollum, the ring bearer
prior to Bilbo Baggins is much smaller than the average human, due to his ancestry as Riversfolk
and the powers of the ring, which make his soul less just, and power thirsty. The Ring of Gyges
is found by a shepherd in the service of the ruler of Lydia (38), who can be considered a person of
lowly status. On the other hand, Bilbo is a Hobbit, a creature that is considered lowly, and... Show

When many people hear the word therapy, they think of something that has caused a problem and

to be rehabilitated or an extreme mental problem where the person needs serious help. However,
therapy does not always deal with injured or mentally troubled people. Three types of therapy that
help a wide range of people with their problems are physical, occupational, and speech therapies.

The other type of therapy that may deal some with injuries is occupational therapy. Enhancing fine
motor skills is the focus of this therapy. Occupational therapists set a goal for their patients which
enables them to have more independent, productive, and satisfying lives by teaching them how to
perform daily functions without the aid of others. Some of these functions may include eating,
getting dressed, or using the bathroom. Exercises that improve balance, coordination, trunk control,
dexterity, and basic muscle movement are used towards a person s road to an easier lifestyle.
Occupational therapists work mainly with people who have disabilities. These may include people
with spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, or people who have had a stroke (
Occupational ).
Occupational therapy is my current major of study, so I am doing volunteer work for several
therapists right now at Parent Child Services in West Knoxville. It is very interesting to sit and

thought to be dead, but was brought back to life. His focus is on balance and coordination right
now. I am also observing a child with cerebral palsy. He is one of my favorite children to work
with. He is working on strengthening his muscles in his trunk and legs while continuing to work on
balance and coordination.

37. Compare And Contrast A Secret Sorrow And A Sorrowful Woman
Love conquers all, or at the very least, that s what many romance novels want people to believe.
A Secret Sorrow by Karen van der Zee, which tells the tale of Faye and her struggle to commit to
Kai after an accident leaves her unable to reproduce, is a perfect example of this. The Sorrowful
Woman by Gail Godwin, on the other hand, is a dark fairy taleabout a womanwhose life is only
made worse by marriage and motherhood. At first glance, these stories may seem completely
different. On further examination, A Secret Sorrow and A Sorrowful Woman share both similarities
and differences in tone, theme, and genderroles that lead to the latter story being a much better piece
of literature.
First of all, the tones these stories employ really set them apart. In A Secret Sorrow, the tone is
happy and hopeful optimistic. Despite everything Faye has gone through such as finding out she
can t have kids she still gets her happily ever after. They adopt kids, and at the very end, as she s
lying in bed with Kai, van der Zee writes, And in the warm afterglow of lovemaking, their bodies
close together, she knew that to him she was everything, to him she was the only woman, beautiful,
complete, whole (38). This is the ending that many girls dream of, and despite the conflict, the story
remains light hearted for the most part. In contrast, in A Sorrowful Woman, the tone is much darker

Renowned poet Dante Alighieri lived in a tempestuous political and religious era. Fourteenth
century Italy was riddled with political factions, most notably the Guelphs and Ghibellines, which
were constantly engaged in conflict. This ongoing political and religious upheaval would
eventually lead to Dante s exile from Florence. After his banishment, Dante wrote The Divine
Comedy, an epic poem that sets up a flawless system of punishment, redemption and salvation. This
retributive structure, most readily apparent in the Inferno , heavily contrasts with the imperfect
earthly one that failed Dante. Although the primary message of the poem appears to be religious,
the Inferno gives insight into how Dante was making an inherently political statement.... Show more

due to the fact that he supposedly stole money for his own personal gain (Harrison 2). Dante s

esteemed painter at the time, and probably began his career along side his brother as an assistant
in his father s workshop. Though his artwork was influenced by many of his friends and relatives,
Giovanni possessed certain qualities in his compositions which set him apart from the others. He
blended the styles of both his father and brother in law, Andrea Mantegna, with his own subtle
appreciation of color and light, the high regard he held for the detail of natural landscape, along
with the very direct human empathy he placed in his painting. These components of Bellini s

Criticism on the work is as follows This beautiful production still appears to combine all the
qualities for which Bellini might up to this time have claimed praise appropriate and dignified
composition, noble character, elevated feeling, and chastened design. I think the painting is a
beautiful representation of Mary and Jesus and the angels. The tecnique Bellini uses to create the

that Mary and the Saints really are there, when in actuality, they really are.
Bellini developed a new kind of mythology in which the Olympian gods appear as peasants

Thinking Ahead of Her Times
Treating women properly with dignity and respect has commonly been an issue because it has
been a constant struggle for them to gain it throughout history. This controversy goes way back to
the early twentieth century and in The Color Purple by Alice Walker, we clearly see how women
are not given the respect or dignity they deserve. Although people seem to not recognize it as a
problem, this issue must be addressed. In The Color Purple one definitely sees how Celie
represents a repressed woman and how she learns to fight back over time to overcome her struggles
in life.
In The Color Purple, Celie a young black girl who lived in Georgia was very bright and wrote
countless letters to God. These letters contained horrid experiences Celie went through. She was
constantly subjected to abuse and told she was ugly. So these letters became an outlet for her to
cope with her situation. The letters also show how Celie has pulled through numerous struggles
she endured starting from the age of 14 and ending up into her mid forties. Although Celie has her
doubt that God even takes her concerns into consideration, these letters serve as a type of therapy
to help her ease her suffering. Having gone through countless unbelievable troubles, Celie feels she

[ I promote a positive, low risk and emotionally and physically safe environment in many ways.
The students know the classroom daily expectations, the schools rules, and my personal rules that I
have added sense teaching their class, which in some ways differ from my cooperating teachers
rules. I do not allow students to chew gum during class and the students are not to climb the
bleachers to get equipment that has been thrown up their. I expect students to use appropriate
language and treat others how they would like to be treated. When a student feels he or she was
emotionally or physically hurt they come and report it to me. I then talk to the student(s) invoiced
and help them sort it out. During the soccer lessons, in my expiation of the stations as well as on
some of my station cue cards it has warnings about potential dangerous situation that may occur,
such as flaying soccer balls, trip over cones, crashing into someone who is running. I found with
these warning verbally being said and written down the environment stayed organized and safe. ]
