The Invisible Man Essay
The Invisible Man, by H.G. Wells, is composed of many small themes that combined to form two
major themes in the novel. Some of the minor themes are acting before thinking and denial of
unexplainable events. It is based on the two major themes of science experiments gone wrong and the
ignorance of society.
The most important theme in the novel was the experiment that Griffin, the invisible man, was
working and it was not going exactly as planned. The way that the experiment went bad was not by
accident; instead it was Griffin who had made the mistake of turning himself invisible. The reason that
the invisible man had for becoming invisible was that he was suspected as to be a vivesectionalist and
he did not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The people could see his footprints and see him if he became dirty. Another thing that Griffin did not
realize before his experiment back fired was that he could not eat if he wanted to stay invisible. The
people around him could see the food inside his stomach, until his body absorbed it.
The experiment that Griffin went through was his own fault and also sealed his own fate. The major
problem with his invisibility was that Griffin was not able to keep or have any friends. His only
contact was after he was all bandaged up and looked as though he had been in a bad accident. Without
any human contact or support Griffin was destined to become crazy. In the ending chapters of the
novel it is obvious that Griffin has lost his mind and is completely insane.
Not wanton killing, but a judicious slaying. The point is, they know there is an Invisible Man as well
as we know there is an Invisible Man. And that Invisible Man, Kemp, must now establish a Reign of
Terror. (Pg. 114)
The previous quote was taken as the invisible man was talking to Kemp about his plans of judicial
killing. This proves that Griffin has gone completely insane and it is his way of getting back at society
for excluding him. He does not realize that if he had never made himself invisible nothing like this
would be happening.

Research Paper On Influenza Pandemic
The Influenza Pandemic of 1918
It was 1918 early moring at an crowded army base in Kansas when it started. It would become the
deadliest disease since the middle ages, when the black dealth wiped out one thrid of Eurpoes
population. It may have started in the United States but it would pass all around the world. The
Influenza Pandemic of 1918 was originally a bird virus but then it mutated into a human virus. Today
we know it as the flu but back then it had many different names such as the Spanish Influenza, The
Spanish Lady and of course the Influenza Pandemic of 1918. It had 3 waves, one worst than the last.

also able to hide from the immune system therefore avoiding being killed so it can reproduce. Then
the virus gains control of a cell by injecting its genes into the cell and makes it do whatever it wants

Wood Thrush Populations
The paper explicitly outlined the four key questions, asking (1) Is there evidence that asymmetrical
dispersal and therefore source sink dynamics occur consistently over time between pairs of Wood
Thrush populations? And if so (2), over what distance(s) does this occur? (3) Do identified sources
occur in areas with more habitat than their dependent sinks? And (4), are source sink dynamics
clustered in any particular part of the species range? (Tittler, Fahrig Villard 2006, p. 2)
Identifying key words, in this case posit , helps identify the hypothesis quickly.
We posit that, when dispersal occurs from a source to a sink year after year, there will be a one year
time lagged correlation in abundance between the two populations
(Tittler, Fahrig Villard 2006, p. 1).
The authors often restate their hypothesis multiple times to clarify to readers the intent of their
research. In other words, a decline in abundance in the source population in one year will result in a
decline in the sink population in the following year, as a smaller source population produces fewer

Volunteers collected point count data on Wood Thrush, among other birds, throughout 4462 total point

within a three minute time frame, throughout an unlimited distance radius. Historical data from 1966
to present were reduced for consistency by selecting routes surveyed for a minimum of 29 years, non
contiguously, as well as exclusively using the first ten survey sites. The survey methods are easily
repeatable; the only materials needed may be a bird identification book, and binoculars. Statistical
concepts including temporal and spatial autocorrelation causing data invalidation remain

The Memory System Essay example
Memories are creative recollections of past experiences that are unique to each individual. They define
us and give us our identity. Memories are a collection of information, which at one time was new to
us, and as we learned and progressed, that information became stored as memory. The main fact to
memory is that practice and repetition is a key asset to making the brain encode the information as
memory. When the brain encodes this information it is stored, waiting to be retrieved. When we
memorize something, it is stored for a certain amount of time in the brain, the more we recall this
information the more familiar we become with it, making it easier to remember and recall later in life.
The process of memory is still a mystery, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While yet it is the most complex process neuroscience has ever tried to define. Most theorists believe
that the brain encodes information in two different types, motor skills memory and factual memory.
Motor skills memory is the memorization of functions like running, walking, or eating. While factual
memory is associated with the memorization of telephone number, names, places, and experiences.
Some theorists believe this is the basic foundation to memories. Associated with these two types are
three levels, Sensory memory, Short term memory, and Long term memory. Sensory memory is the
level, which absorbs the things around us using the five main senses, sight, smell, touch, sound, and
taste. This level of memory is thought to only last a matter of seconds, and only moves on to the next
level if enough attention is given to the information. (Baddeley, 1976) If not enough attention is given
to the information it is ignored by the brain and forgotten. (Howe, 1983) The second level of memory
is the Short term memory. This level is believed to only have a capacity of 7 items, and have a
duration time of no more than thirty seconds. (Bjork, 1996) When memories in the short term are used
more and more it sends it to the next level, but again this is only done by practice or repetition. A way
for most people to remember more things, in the short term is called Chunking. This is where someone

Using Breaking Free Of Old Ways Of Thinking Outside The Box
Thinking outside the box is a common idiom used to express the idea of breaking free of old ways of
thinking. In a real sense, the walls of the box are the borders of our thoughts. Moving past those
barriers is considered not only a good thing, but a necessary thing. Yet this is not only about travel. I
could have stayed in my home country to study, but I chose instead to bet on myself and apply
internationally. As a result I was offered a full paid scholarship. And took this opportunity to place
myself as far from my comfort zone. I wanted to not just think outside the box, but exist entirely
outside of it.
Saudi Arabia, where I am from, has one of the largest economy in the Arab world. And its fast
growing economy allows it to be a solid ground for many investing activities. I grew up in a family
business that really provided the core of my belief in business and in ones ability to grow and operate
important businesses that can compete and be successful.
I think I ve inherited my passion for learning besides the insatiable curiosity which has served me well
throughout my childhood, school years and academic career from my father, an international
businessman. He taught me to explore the world, constantly seeking to learn more, and to make an
effort to understand more. I watched him for hours as he worked on his meetings, and I also helped
him with contracts, presentations, and marketing proposals growing up. I was fascinated by business
and wanted to know how and

Middle of the World, Territory of Complexity Essay
With current advancement involving technological, and biological warfare all over the earth, the world
can seem to resemble a ticking time bomb waiting to be detonated. All it would take is one rogue
nation to oppose a neighboring nation and provoke a terrible conflict, and other nations would have to
intervene. The conflict over territory is present in Israel and Palestine. This ancient feud will
apparently cause a world war if it is not solved, The Israeli Palestinian conflict can overflow onto the
rest of the surrounding nations, right into our very backyard, and it already involves U.S. Government.

The Israelis are known to protect there neighborhoods from incoming rocket propelled grenades.
Israel does certainly have the right to defend itself from the heavy opposition. It is a volatile situation
when any nation can cause violence for having different beliefs. Nonetheless the definition of one s
rights varies from different countries. Israel is outnumbered, yet still manages to survive, although, the
threat is not gone. Many nations surrounding the Jewish State condemn the close relationship between
the United States and Israel because the United States has contributed to the preservation of the Jewish
nation. The Arab resistance yearns to take total dominion over the west bank of Israel. Although Israel
is a small nation by itself, people opposing Israel say that the Israelis are nothing short of military
bullies. Israel is known for their military might and success in preserving there nation. Their defense
program is state of the art and far above other surrounding nations. Yet the potential of rogue nations
containing nuclear capabilities are substantial. Some of the Arabian fighters are not all radicalized but
are angered victims of having family members becoming casualties of war. Israel also while trying to
defend itself, occasionally contribute to the unfortunate casualty victims. Naturally they would oppose
Israel for taking away their sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, and also friends.

There has been growing recognition of the potential of design to transform health care drawing on a
tradition of creative and divergent thinking to address the significant challenges. These challenges are
by definition wicked problems , where there is no single true answer and where design s strength lies
in creatively responding to these complex interdependencies.
Escalating costs of healthcare services and a shortage of personnel and facilities have put pressure on
the health system to deliver more care on an outpatient basis.
While tending to health needs at home has a long history and some medical devices have been used in
the home for many years, we are now witnessing an increasing migration of other devices and
emergent technologies into the home setting.
However most medical devices are designed for health professionals in formal health care settings and
not for domestic use. Consequently there are many challenges to address the complexity demanded by
the varied users within this environment.
eHealth is the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) for health (WHO).
According to the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) telehealth and telecare are relatively new eHealth
services, the language used to describe them is still evolving and the terms used are interchangeable.
Telehealth (also referred to as telemedicine) covers the remote monitoring of physiological data that
can be used by health professionals for diagnosis or disease management.

Hayden Symphony 94 Analysis
The piece that I have decide to use is the Hayden Symphony 94. I will be using all four movements to
identify which criteria has been met by this piece. The Haydn Symphony 94 follows a form that works
for it with each of the four movements have an expressive section then a rhythmic section. Also,
during the second movement which is a theme and variation he repeated both themes but the second
time he would use a drastic dynamic change. (Criterion #1) Within movement 2 Haydn uses dynamic
contrast frequently. The first 15 measures of the piece are a succession of soft melodies then in the
16th measure Haydn places a loud note to grab the attention of the audience then he returns to his
quiets melodies. Haydn also wrote solos for the oboist and flautist, and concluding with a sweeping
and lyrical forte repeat in triplets (Symphony no. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Criterion #2) Movement 2 shows that Haydn use the different instruments families to add different
colors to each section of the piece. He starts this movement with the strings having the main theme
then adding the woodwinds to the main theme and to the accompanying parts. At certain parts of the
movement he has all instruments playing some form of the main theme. We can also here that the
main theme has moved from the high voices to the low voices throughout the movement. By the end
of the movement the we have the woodwinds completely taking over the melody while the stings are
playing the accompanying parts. (Criterion #3) Within the second movement of the symphony there is
this one loud note or chord among a group of soft chords. Once the audience has heard this once or
twice they come to predict the note because the previous nots grabbed our attention. (Criterion #4)
The expressive introduction section of movement 1 is followed by the very rhythmic section. This
shows that the music is not obvious and direct but it does set up the following movements form wise.

Romeo And Juliet Figurative Language
William Shakespeare was a 16th century playwright that wrote many famous plays. One of his most
famous plays is called Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet is about star crossed lovers from rival
families. Shakespeare uses figurative language to highlight main themes such as love, death, and
foolhardiness. In the play, Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare highlights love through the use of
hyperbole, imagery, similes and metaphors. Romeo and Juliet is a play about two star crossed lovers
from rival families that die trying to be together. In a story, a theme is an idea that is constantly
referenced throughout that story. The theme of love is shown multiple times in Romeo and Juliet

Plants And Insects Have A Long History Together
Plants and Insects There is no doubt that plants and insects have a long history together. It is an on
going relationship that can be beneficial or detrimental to both parties, depending on the situation.
Insects pollinate plants, in return the plants provide food for insects. But the relationship between the
two isn t always so beneficial. Some insects can kill plants by taking away the essential nutrients away
from the plant. There are also insects that are predators. The predator insects help the plants by getting
rid of the insects that are killing the plant. There are some plants that have a natural pesticide in their
chemical make up and can ward off unwanted bugs. There are other contributing factors to how much
of an impact plants and insect have on each other. For example, there may be a plant in or near your
garden that attracts insects that are harmful and once that insect is there, it will potentially migrate
around to other plants in your garden. When an insect lands on a plant it picks up pollen, then the
insect transfers it to another plant. This process is called pollination and is very important in the
botanical world. Pollination allows plants to fertilize and reproduce. Some insects use the nectar and
pollen of a plant as food. In this situation both plant and insects benefit. Yet, this isn t always the case.
Generally one or the other gets the greater advantage. The biggest issue when it comes to plants and
insects are the insects that

How Did The Cabaret Influence The Civil Rights Movement
The social issues of 1960 s America allowed open homosexuality for the usage as mass entertainment,
although the initial screening of the musical Cabaret did not quite dare to openly use homosexual
characters and themes, having only joking mentions and subtle themes to reference, such as the song
Two Ladies where in the Emcee dances with two women, singing of sharing a bed. The initial
screening of the musical came before the sexual revolution of homosexuality took place, just three
years before the Stonewall riots of 1969. However, Cabaret did use the reclaiming of past culture,
such as 1930 s Berlin, in order to comment on the present circumstances of the 1960 s Civil Rights
Movement in America, and how much these two eras had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Homosexuality had become increasingly accepted in many forms, and had survived the AIDS crisis
that had so began with decimating its population. The main character Cliff would have more of a focus
in this re adaptation, his own sexual past with others, known to be slow with women due to his clear
attract[ion] to men. The musical itself also demonstrated a much more overt sexuality; with the
Emcee, played by Alan Cumming, displaying sexual exhibitionism with groping other actors, himself,
and using pelvic thrusts and groin movement[s] to radicalize the musical even further to create an
atmosphere that suited their present context and drew the audience into the story, even through
uncomforting them with such behavior. This musical, one of the most recent adaptations of Isherwood
s original work, certainly creates a connection between the time of its creation and the context it acts
out, with the sexual overtones of recent years receding in the finale of the musical, as the Emcee
reveals his concentration camp uniform that beings audiences to difficult realizations of how possible
such atrocities did and still can occur

Ion Exchange Chromatography Lab Report
1. Ion exchange chromatography is a technique, which separates a mixture of amino acids based on
their produced charge. Isoelectric point is a pH where the given amino acid has a no charge thus;
produces a neutral structure. With a pH above the isoelectric point will cause the amino acid to be
deprotonated and thus; produce a negative charge where as a pH lower than the isoelectric point will
cause the amino acid to be protonated and thus; hold a positive charge.
2. In the experiment a cation exchange column was used to separate the mixture of amino acid. Cation
exchange column is a negatively charged column where amino acids with positive ions would stick
while, amino acids with negative ion would repel and elude out of the column. Three unknown buffers
were used with pH of 3.5,6.5,and10.5 and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

against the three unknown buffers at the individual fraction numbers to produce a constant solvent
migration distance of 3.06. Fraction number 5 migrated at the distance of 2.25 to produce Rf of .74
this closely resembles the Rf of Aspartic acid of .82. Fraction number of 9 migrated at the distance of

results match our predicted results.
5. Ion exchange chromatography has many uses from purifying proteins to analysis of pharmaceutical
drugs, but one of the vital applications of ion chromatography is used in purifying water. Many
individuals have been facing health problems after drinking water, which contains anions such as
chloride and sulfate. These anions cause negative side effects in our body therefore; U.S. National
Primary Drinking Water Standards are now using ion exchange chromatography as a tool to remove

Analysis Of Imperial Dreams
In Imperial Dreams directed by Malik Booth, one scene shows the main character Bambi letting his
son: Daytone riding a horse, which portrays both his son and his happiness even though they aren t in
a happy environment. This is shown through different shots and techniques such as; a medium shot
showing Daytone riding the horse; a close up on Bambi s face to show his facial expressions and
actors performance; lighting and colour ; and a long shot to show Bambi paying the man who owned
the horse, money for the horse ride. All these help to show happiness in Bambi and Daytone.
Malik Booth uses a medium shot to show happiness. Happiness is shown on Daytone s face when he
is seen riding the horse. The medium shot shows Daytone with a big grin on his face, brightening up
his whole face while sitting on top of the horse. Earlier in the film, we see Daytone playing with a toy
horse, which normally means he likes it. He also doesn t recognize Bambi which means that Day didn
t know his own father. But now Day stays with his father and having him ride an actual horse is like a
big present that is given to us on our birthday or Christmas. Which normally feels exciting and
ecstatic. For Bambi to give this gift to Daytone which symbolizes the horse, shows the audience how
much he cares for him and that he shows it through this scene.
Malik also uses a close up shot on Bambi s face to show

Psychodynamic Theory And Social Learning Theory Essay
The two theories discussed here will be the Psychodynamic Theory and the Social Learning Theory.
Psychodynamic theories include the wisdom of Freud and Jung. Freud discusses, defense mechanisms,
understanding the ego as it relates to rational thinking and the superego in regard to mortality.
Whereas the Social Learning Theory includes those works from Bandura, Watson, and Piaget among
others. This theory will focus on imitation, observation and modeling another s behavior to achieve a
certain desired outcome. Although their conceptual theories differ, they both reflect, shape, and
interpret the very essence of the human psyche and how we have evolved and developed over the
years.

The ego tells us we are invincible, or that we can achieve things that we may have not thought
through. Along with shaping our personality healing will also begin when we pay attention to different
transferences and the actual treatment of the relationship. Much of this type of therapy is used for
those individuals that have somehow attached their emotions to the object of relationships. Hanging
on to the favorite sweater, only listening to music that the other person loved. This can also involve,
defense mechanisms, and a struggle between the ego(rationality), and super ego (mortality). Such
therapy usually involves once weekly 50 minute sessions, the length of treatment varying between 3
months and 2 years. Essentially this particular theory method deals with resolving childhood or early
in life conflicts.
The Social Learning Theory tells us a different story in how to address those with behaviors that need
addressing, like for instance when men abuse their partners, this is a learned behavior, originating
usually within their family dynamics and cultural aspects that reward anger or violence. This is further
identified with how we interact with their environment. And while this behavior overall, is deplorable
one reason it is left to go on, is because ultimately there are positive and or negative reinforcers
guiding or directing the outcome.

Public Administration And The Public Sector
Old Public Administration was created to answer the questions to many unanswered problems.
President Woodrow Wilson said it was harder to run a constitution than to frame it because of the
difficult administrative tasks had to deal with. Sure enough, he was not the only person who felt that
way. President Wilson believed that in order to run an effective government, ideas from the private
sector should be incorporated into the public sector. He even went as far as to give input on how the
government would be able to implement ideas from the private sector to the public sector. And that is
to limit what hierarchical organization can do. Wilson believed that those in power would not have
control of creating the policy, but they will have a handle on how the policy is implemented. Two
themes stood out around the topic of Public Administration the distinction between policy and
administration, and the accountability of elected individuals who are a part of an organization. The
second theme was around the use of structures and strategies to ensure that management work
efficiency.
Many had much to say when it came Wilson s statement that Policy and Administration should be
separate entities. A few people argued that policy and administration could not be separated because
policy and administration depend on one another to work effectively. Frederick Taylor, a theorist
believed that in order to enforce efficiency within an organization, a scientific management

Gender, Discrimination, Bias, And The Hostility Against...
When we hear or see older people, nearly most of us think of them in a negative way. We see these
people as if they were sick, barely living, mentally unstable and can t function or do a job correctly,
we even pity them and get sad of how they look like. These emotions that most people feel is no
different than how some men feel about women (sexism), or how the dominant race, let s say the
white, feels toward an ethnic minority (racism). These emotions toward older people are an indicator
of ageism in the society. Ageism can be defined as the discrimination, bias, and the enmity against
older people. A great example of ageism is rejecting an older job applicants in favor of a younger one.
Three theory apply to aging the elderly. Our first theory is called structural functional theory. As the
author of our textbook, John Macionis, agrees that this approach views society as a complex, but
interconnected system, where each part works together as a functional whole (p.16). The author of the
book applies this approach to the aging topic and show how the operations of the society can be
confused and disordered on the fact that people grow old and die ultimately. As a result of that the
society dissociate older people from important tasks or disband them from responsibilities as they
grow older (p.439). Drawing on the structural functional theory, the disengagement theory illustrates
that as people grow old the society eliminates them from their responsibilities and their

that is where his friend Finny fell and broke his leg. Finny died because of the broken leg. Gene visits

notices the huge tree that gave him chills when he was younger. This time when Gene saw the huge

The Role Of Choices In Ayn Rand s Anthem
Having choices can sometime leave a negative result that could affect others. Because of some
individuals who could have caused problems for society,or because of strict individuals working for

individuals who need the ability to make their own choices for their own sake. In the novella Anthem

Parenting Inventory Paper
There is a vast amount of research using the Adult Adolescent Parenting Inventory in order to assess
risk factors for child maltreatment. Although, past research has focused on risk factors of child abuse
using the Adult Adolescent Parenting Inventory and ways to increase protective factors; literature has
seemed to have left out Child Protective Service s involvement as a protective factor for child
maltreatment. It is unclear if this gap in the research is due to lack of evidence based research to
confirm the hypothesis that Child Protective Service is in fact a protective factor. However, this is why
this research is so important to the field of social work, as well as, other helping professions. It is
hypothesized that families with a history ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Evaluation Of The First Chapter
The first chapter introduced me to the various roles within OT. This includes activities that are
meaningful to a client. So, not only is OT helping with a problem, such as a broken wrist, but it also
helps break that down into different aspects that are utilized to regain function through tasks. I didn t
realize how much, or the depth OT actually went, and how many occupations there were to cover. This
chapter introduced me to just how diverse the clientele are in OT, and how much creativity with a
holistic approach in activities is used to help in a client s therapeutic treatment. This chapter made me
look positively toward my future in OT, with promise of it being a rewarding journey. The second
chapter gave me a history of where OT has evolved from. I think this is an important chapter to review
to show how OT has developed over the years from people with many different backgrounds. I had no
knowledge as to where OT had developed from. These people didn t just go to school to be involved
with OT they were creating the field itself. I didn t gather that all the people were working together in
a collaborative effort to make OT a field of study. This chapter gives light to the discovery of different
approaches and methods ranging from the Arts and Crafts Movement and beginning of moral
treatment for people from all walks of life, to the progress to drugs being introduced and Acts being
adopted into law to help people who needed OT. Not only has the realization that people

An Essay About The World Of The Black, White, And Die Out...
So many tribes. So many factions. Straight, queer. Black, white. Male, Female. Tall, short. Fat, thin.
Happy, unhappy. Trapped, free. Oppressed, Liberated. Doubting, self assured. Old, young. Birthing,
dying. Wasted, realised. So many lives, so many stories. Some reach fruition, while others are stifled
never fulfilling their fullest potentials. Some of us are born into privilege and yet others live and and
die out on the street. For the vast majority of us however, we are born, we live what is termed an
average life and we die. We become markers in a field someplace. There s not a single one of us
however who shouldn t be here. We each have our own reason for being. We are each a part of life and
shouldn t ever feel apart from it. We are needed. Why then is there so much struggle? So much
competition. Such a great need for supremacy and righteousness. Many of us squander what we have
here hoping for something better around the corner or perhaps in the next life. Paradise is here, all
around us all of the time, well it is in theory at least. I m fortunate to live in a part of the world which
allows me freedoms. The freedom to live as I choose. The freedom to write posts without having to
worry about people turning up, taking away my basic rights to express myself and hauling me off to
some murky prison cell to languish and perhaps make me doubt my very existence. Even if that were
the case, someone somewhere would be caring enough to appeal for my conviction to be

Siralos Research Paper
In the beginning, there were four divine beings that ruled the vast cosmos: Etihw, the divine being of
peace; Siralos, the divine being of light and warmth; Liliya, the divine being of beauty;and Elux, the
divine being of purity. Together, the four immortals lived in harmony, all of their needs were fulfilled
as they lived in their respective realms that suit each individual.
Etihw lived in a realm of monochrome, her land devoid of any life aside from her own. She saw it that
there would be no peace if there was life; with life came war, was her statement to the other three.
Siralos lived in a realm of the suns, enjoying the everlasting warmth he had given himself. Though,
with his eternal light, no life could reside in his realm, for no humidity ... Show more content on

No! That s too... Blegh! Something like what it represents... Earthen? Elux shrugged at her own
suggestion, jacket hung loosely over her shoulders.
Siralos got another grand idea, almost as good as the idea to create the world. Earth! Yes, Earth! Oh,
Elux, you genius! He praised his sister, who puffed out her chest in pride. Etihw and Liliya hummed in
agreement, nodding at the eldest immortal.
And so, with the agreement, the four called the world Earth, and watched as their creation evolved
into more than what they could even think of, seeing pride in their mortals own creations. They
became filled with pride each time they were reminded of their children s progress, and watched as
new conflicts arose, and die out just as quickly. Though the four knew their creations may never know
of their creator s true existence, they didn t care.
After all, this world was simply a bonding experience like another game of marbles for the immortals,
to entertain themselves for the next few eons. Where was the harm in another round before

A Research Project On Colon Cancer
Research Project Outcome
Colon cancer claims the lives of 12 Australians each day and is the second largest cancer killer (1).
Colon cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer in the Australian population after the age of 50. It
is essential that Australian men and women are aware of the aggressiveness and severity of the disease
(2) and the primary preventative methods. The Indigenous Australian population, in comparison to the
non indigenous population, have a higher prevalence of the disease and experience higher mortality
rates (3). Due to the lack of medical resources and awareness, men and women living in rural areas
have an increased risk of developing colon cancer (4). For these reasons, I have decided to conduct an
investigation on the significance, the primary preventative methods and the impact they can have on
the health and awareness of the Australian population.
I conducted my initial research by investigating the internet and books, both of which encompassed
the anatomy of the stomach and allowed me to gather a greater understanding of Colon Cancer. Bowel
cancer is a malignant growth that develops most commonly in the lining of the large bowel. The vast
majority of bowel cancers develop from growths called polyps . Not all polyps become cancerous. The
larger that a polyp grows, the more likely it is to become malignant (cancerous). Polyps can be easily
re moved without surgery by a procedure called a colonoscopy (inspection of the bowel with a

Chipotle vs Panera
Chipotle vs. Panera Bread Company
Introduction Fast Casual Restaurant fast casual restaurant is a type of restaurant that does not offer full
table service but promises a higher quality of food and atmosphere than a fast food restaurant. In the
USA it is a relatively new and growing concept to fill the space between fast food and casual dining.
The typical cost per meal is in the US$8 $15 range. Two emerging fast casual restaurants are Chipotle
Mexican Grill and Panera Bread.
When Chipotle opened its first store in 1993, the idea was simple: demonstrate that food served fast

Panera is proficient in making good, quality products. Their financial position is strong; and they are
known for quality products and great customer service. Panera is not trying to be the Wal Mart,
Starbucks or Microsoft. In a down economy, CEO Ron Shaich continues to target the 92% of
Americans who still have jobs.
Shaich is also taking advantage of the company s cash position and the slow real estate market by
bargaining down lease rates by 20% to 25% from 2008 levels. Plus, Panera can lock in these low
terms for the next 20 years (2009). Chipotle, on the other hand, seems to have created a sustainable
branding strategy that leverages its good food, humorous ads, distinctive interior design, and in store
world music (Wikinvest.com, 2010). The company is positioned to capitalize on their organic and
farm raised food, and high quality ingredients. According to the organic Trade Association (OTA),
organic food sales are growing at a 20% clip annually in the US, although such food only accounts for
3% of all food and beverage sales (Wikinvest.com, 2010). Chipotle is also positioned to tap multiple
markets: baby boomers who can afford to dine out, Hispanics, two income families who do not have
time to cook, and the socially conscious consumer.

Both the sailor who fell from grace with the sea, and fight club touch on the idea, and importance of
masculinity. However, in think that they have very different views on the topic, and seem to show to

cultures, and so the techniques used to show the significance of masculinity vary a lot. A sailor who
fell from grace with the sea was written in japan, which at the time, and still today, had a very unique
set of values and opinions. On the other hand, fight club was written in America, the cultural opposite
in some respects, to Japan. the main theme within fight club, is masculinity, and how society responds

General Pinochet Analysis
The church and the regime of general Pinochet were rivals throughout the regime of the general. There
were enemies for many reasons. The regime used torture and disappearance. The church used love and
peace for unity. The author William Cavanaugh argues that the church in Chile only gradually became
the church Christ wanted and needed to be. Excommunication is the formal offering of reconciliation
in the hope that even the most hardened offender will be saved (Cavanaugh, 260). According to
Cavanaugh the church becomes to re envision its mission in Chile when several bishops considered
excommunicating general Pinochet. The reason why several bishops wanted to excommunicate
general Pinochet was because people started to realize that the general did prosecuted people against
him and tortured them. The church in Chile comes to re envision its mission in Chile because as a
result of the General Pinochet, General Contreras, and public leaders as the ones in DINA some ...

opinions. Some of the opinions were that the bishops were against the excommunication principle,
there was not enough proof of what the general was doing, excommunicating the general might bring
more torture, and finally there not any unanimity among the bishops (Cavanaugh, 258).
Excommunicating the general was something very important for the society of Chile, but at the end he
was not excommunicated. Cardinal Silva was unwilling to excommunicate General Pinochet because
of a fundamental conviction that to so would be divisive instead of unifying (Cavanaugh, 261).
Cardinal Silva believed that the, Church and state must stand together to ensure the unity of rich and
poor in one organic entity called Chile (Cavanaugh,

Social Media Has An Inopportune Impact On Society
Technology has been improving yearly and has now become part of many people s life. Humans have
become dependent on technology for many things like to communicate, to learn, to create things, to
advertise, the list is endless. Access to the internet has become easier even in underdeveloped
countries. This means that almost anyone can post, share, comment, and do many different functions
that social media allows to do.
Considering that technology is easy to access and that people depend on it, it is almost impossible to
not have a controversial conversation over it. Some people believe that posting on social media has an
inopportune impact on society. However, there are a lot of positive impacts social media has on
society. Social media bring people together and helps society in a lot of ways. Posting to social media
comes with responsibilities since what is posted could not be taken lightly by someone else however,
there should be no fear in posting since the freedom to do so is there for the taking and can benefit in
many ways. First and foremost, social media was made to share ideas. In order to share ideas a way
for things to be published and seen by others had to be created. Social media is defined as the ability
to use the internet to share and communicate instantly with others (historycooperative.org). The
developers of social media applications such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, and many
more, found a way to make this possible. In Facebook and

Chiari Malformation Research Paper
There are 4 different types of Chiari malformations. Type 1 is the most common and occurs when the
cerebellar tonsil is found below the forman magnum; usually affecting older children or adults and is
the only type of malformation that can be acquired. Type II involves both the brainstem and
cerebellum below the forman magnum, this type is usually associated with other diseases such as
spina bifida and myelomeningocele. This is usually found in children and this type is responsible for
the name Arnold Chiari malformation. Type III is the most severe it results in the cerebellum and the
brain stem producing a pouch like structure that protrudes from the back of the head and upper neck.
This pouch contains brain matter and causes severe neurological deficits. Finally, Type IV is
extremely uncommon and involves the complete underdevelopment of the cerebellum ( Different ,
n.d.).
There are several causes that can be associated with a Chiari malformation. Some of those causes are
associates with a structural defect of the spinal cord during fetal development, injury, or even a lack of

The Negative Effects Of Alcohol On The Human Body
Effects of Alcohol on the Human Body
Many teenagers and adults drink alcohol. Often drinking makes a person feel relaxed, confident,
happy and sociable. However, would these good feelings be enough, if that person knew the negative
effects alcohol has on the human body? Alcohol has immediate negative effects, but also causes long
term damage, and can even cause cancer. I believe if everyone had a better understanding of what
alcohol does to the human body, there might be a decrease in alcohol consumption. It is important to
understand the biology behind how the body digests alcohol; the physical impairments caused by
alcohol; the possible consequences of those impairments; and the long term damage that alcohol can
do to the body. When the body digests alcohol, there are effects on almost every tissue and organ in
the body. According to www.quitalcohol.com, when alcohol is consumed, about one third of it absorbs
immediately into the blood through the stomach lining. The remainder absorbs more slowly into the
blood, through the small intestine. Once in the bloodstream, alcohol diffuses into almost every
biological tissue in the body. Consuming alcohol causes the blood alcohol level to increase. The speed
that a person s blood alcohol level increases and the effect it has depends on a lot of factors, including
weight, age, gender, body composition, general health and the presence of other drugs or medications.
Regardless, any amount of alcohol in the body will have

The Decepticon
If you have not heard of Transformers, then you have been living under a rock. Transformers:
Revenge of The Fallen had brought in $200 million the first week it came out. You may be wondering
who is the director behind this extraordinary movie? The answer to that is Michael Bay, and he has
directed many outstanding movies. With Transformers it has now been 2 years since the Autobots
have save the Earth from the Decepticons, they are now working with the military to protect the earth.
While they are doing that Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) is now off to college and he is trying to live a
normal college student life. An older Decepticon name The Fallen is up to no good and wants revenge.
Sam and his girlfriend Mikaela (Megan Fox) learn the history of the Transformers and with that
knowledge they help the Autobots defeat the Decepticons again. With seeing all of The Transformer
movies Michael Bay uses a lot of ethos, and pathos with making his movies exciting to see.
The primary audience of this movie would be the military. Optimus Prime and his Autobot friends
explain to the people in the military what is going on so they can be prepared for when The Fallen and
his Decepticons come. The Autobots and the military ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

rhetorical analysis that is in the movie. Transformers is definitely a draining movie, so many emotions

is phenomenal in this movie, because Michael Bay did not just give living things trust but he also gave
it to the robots. The Autobots gain the militaries trust and that allows them to believe in each other. It

The Problem Of Chest Pain
Since most people in our society consider chest pain to be of a cardiac origin, pediatric chest pain can
not only be scary the child, but can also cause anxiety for the parents due to the fear of their child s
condition. Luckily, many causes of chest pain are usually benign and rarely can be a sign of cardiac
disease. With this in mind, providers should complete a preliminary evaluation for chest pain, decide
on differential diagnoses, and than develop an appropriate plan. Providers should also be aware of the
most likely causes of chest pain in children, which include reactive airway disease, musculoskeletal
pain, esophagitis, gastritis, and functional pain (Hay, Levin, Deterding, Abzug, 2014). Will all of those
in mind, by far the most common cause in children is chest pain from a musculoskeletal injury. The
initial evaluation should include a detailed history and physical examination to help guide the provider
to the proper workup, and rarely is there a need for laboratory tests or evaluation by a specialist (Hay,
Levin, Deterding, Abzug, 2014). First finding out when the pain started, last month, last year, and so
forth, will be of high importance, then once a time frame is establish, details about the most recent
episode should be obtained. The provider should ask how long the pain lasted, what made it
better, made it worse, and then move on to what brought on the pain, with arm movement, breathing,
dizziness, particular activity and so forth. Once the cause

The Crash Of The World Trade Center
Tuesday, September 11th, 2001 began as a normal, late summer day in New York City, New York. It
started as a beautiful morning, with its sky cloudless and bright with the shining sun. Despite the
seemingly peaceful morning, a sequence of catastrophic events occurred and caused the day to take a
turn for the worst. Anything that made the day appear normal drastically changed.
On the morning of the September 11th attacks, or the attacks of 9/11, four passenger airplanes were
hijacked by terrorists. Two airplanes collided into the North and South towers of the World Trade
Center in New York, a third airplane crashed into the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and a fourth

was under attack.
Now, both the Twin Towers were engulfed in flames. Numerous people were trapped inside the
towers, since they were on the floors above the impact zone. Many people even leaped to their deaths,
believing it would be better than to die the haunting, horrific death from flames, and/or smoke

Although the South Tower was the second to be struck, it was the first to fall. Less than one hour after
the airplane smashed into it, the entire building collapsed. 9:59 am The South Tower of the World

Charlotte tries to come home late or leaves. This shows Mrs. Vale is strict and would like to be able to

her room, she starts to talk to him about her mother and tells him a story about when they were on a

not wearing your glasses? You will never get another pair of eyes. Making her put her glasses on
symbolizes that if you have glasses on, you are ugly and worthless which is what she is trying to get
Charlotte to feel. After she goes away to get help and return from the cruise, Charlotte goes upstairs to

Stage One Precontemplationers, as described by Dr. John Norcross (2010) in the video, Don t
acknowledge their problems. Historically they have been called people in denial (2:04). He made sure
to mention that calling it denial is not what it is ethically called anymore. In this stage it could be

When I used again three years ago, I repented, and started in the action stage and remained there for
five months, then went into the maintenance stage. When I used that night that was all I could think
about for that five months. Every time I got stressed, I wanted to use again. I found myself putting
myself in situations on purpose, with the thought, and intent of using again, but never did thank God!
After I made the commitment to not think that way anymore, I put myself into support groups, bible
studies, counseling, church activities, and my motorcycle ministry s activities more often. Surrounding
myself with motivation and positivity. This stage was the most difficult to get through for me the first
time twenty years ago, when it was court ordered, and three years ago again, it was the hardest stage

because when I slipped I had just given my life to Christ a year before that. Going through this stage
in my thirties, and a Christian who fell off the wagon for a night, verses as a court ordered teenager,
was harder because I was a Christian who fell off the wagon. I literally feel God lifted me up that next

  • 2. The Invisible Man Essay The Invisible Man, by H.G. Wells, is composed of many small themes that combined to form two major themes in the novel. Some of the minor themes are acting before thinking and denial of unexplainable events. It is based on the two major themes of science experiments gone wrong and the ignorance of society. The most important theme in the novel was the experiment that Griffin, the invisible man, was working and it was not going exactly as planned. The way that the experiment went bad was not by accident; instead it was Griffin who had made the mistake of turning himself invisible. The reason that the invisible man had for becoming invisible was that he was suspected as to be a vivesectionalist and he did not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The people could see his footprints and see him if he became dirty. Another thing that Griffin did not realize before his experiment back fired was that he could not eat if he wanted to stay invisible. The people around him could see the food inside his stomach, until his body absorbed it. The experiment that Griffin went through was his own fault and also sealed his own fate. The major problem with his invisibility was that Griffin was not able to keep or have any friends. His only contact was after he was all bandaged up and looked as though he had been in a bad accident. Without any human contact or support Griffin was destined to become crazy. In the ending chapters of the novel it is obvious that Griffin has lost his mind and is completely insane. Not wanton killing, but a judicious slaying. The point is, they know there is an Invisible Man as well as we know there is an Invisible Man. And that Invisible Man, Kemp, must now establish a Reign of Terror. (Pg. 114) The previous quote was taken as the invisible man was talking to Kemp about his plans of judicial killing. This proves that Griffin has gone completely insane and it is his way of getting back at society for excluding him. He does not realize that if he had never made himself invisible nothing like this would be happening. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Research Paper On Influenza Pandemic The Influenza Pandemic of 1918 It was 1918 early moring at an crowded army base in Kansas when it started. It would become the deadliest disease since the middle ages, when the black dealth wiped out one thrid of Eurpoes population. It may have started in the United States but it would pass all around the world. The Influenza Pandemic of 1918 was originally a bird virus but then it mutated into a human virus. Today we know it as the flu but back then it had many different names such as the Spanish Influenza, The Spanish Lady and of course the Influenza Pandemic of 1918. It had 3 waves, one worst than the last. Children started to sing a song that fall: I had little bird its name was enza, I opened the window and In flu enza. There were a few countries who did not receive this deadly virus because of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The virus starts by getting a host cell and either uses it right away then kills it or kills right away usually they use it first. When the virus invades a body, It collides with the cell that spicks and propherances then they brush against each other and it if they fit together become one. The viruses is also able to hide from the immune system therefore avoiding being killed so it can reproduce. Then the virus gains control of a cell by injecting its genes into the cell and makes it do whatever it wants for the benefits of the virus not the cell. Of course while you have a cell doing the dirty work for you. The viruses make is own offspring/ copies of itself and takes of over and invading surrounding cells. Believe it or not, all that chaos of domination happens right inside the warm, moist membranes of your mouth, nose, and throat. Within hours of the virus entry. That virus who caused you all this pain is, The Influenza virus, from the family of orthomyxoviridae, Which includes the influenza virus, Isvirus and thogoto virus. • 4. Wood Thrush Populations The paper explicitly outlined the four key questions, asking (1) Is there evidence that asymmetrical dispersal and therefore source sink dynamics occur consistently over time between pairs of Wood Thrush populations? And if so (2), over what distance(s) does this occur? (3) Do identified sources occur in areas with more habitat than their dependent sinks? And (4), are source sink dynamics clustered in any particular part of the species range? (Tittler, Fahrig Villard 2006, p. 2) Identifying key words, in this case posit , helps identify the hypothesis quickly. We posit that, when dispersal occurs from a source to a sink year after year, there will be a one year time lagged correlation in abundance between the two populations (Tittler, Fahrig Villard 2006, p. 1). The authors often restate their hypothesis multiple times to clarify to readers the intent of their research. In other words, a decline in abundance in the source population in one year will result in a decline in the sink population in the following year, as a smaller source population produces fewer young to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Volunteers collected point count data on Wood Thrush, among other birds, throughout 4462 total point count routes. The routes transected Canada and the United States, with 50 survey stations throughout the 39.2 kilometer route. During each survey stop, volunteers tallied Wood Thrush sightings or calls within a three minute time frame, throughout an unlimited distance radius. Historical data from 1966 to present were reduced for consistency by selecting routes surveyed for a minimum of 29 years, non contiguously, as well as exclusively using the first ten survey sites. The survey methods are easily repeatable; the only materials needed may be a bird identification book, and binoculars. Statistical concepts including temporal and spatial autocorrelation causing data invalidation remain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Memory System Essay example Memories are creative recollections of past experiences that are unique to each individual. They define us and give us our identity. Memories are a collection of information, which at one time was new to us, and as we learned and progressed, that information became stored as memory. The main fact to memory is that practice and repetition is a key asset to making the brain encode the information as memory. When the brain encodes this information it is stored, waiting to be retrieved. When we memorize something, it is stored for a certain amount of time in the brain, the more we recall this information the more familiar we become with it, making it easier to remember and recall later in life. The process of memory is still a mystery, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While yet it is the most complex process neuroscience has ever tried to define. Most theorists believe that the brain encodes information in two different types, motor skills memory and factual memory. Motor skills memory is the memorization of functions like running, walking, or eating. While factual memory is associated with the memorization of telephone number, names, places, and experiences. Some theorists believe this is the basic foundation to memories. Associated with these two types are three levels, Sensory memory, Short term memory, and Long term memory. Sensory memory is the level, which absorbs the things around us using the five main senses, sight, smell, touch, sound, and taste. This level of memory is thought to only last a matter of seconds, and only moves on to the next level if enough attention is given to the information. (Baddeley, 1976) If not enough attention is given to the information it is ignored by the brain and forgotten. (Howe, 1983) The second level of memory is the Short term memory. This level is believed to only have a capacity of 7 items, and have a duration time of no more than thirty seconds. (Bjork, 1996) When memories in the short term are used more and more it sends it to the next level, but again this is only done by practice or repetition. A way for most people to remember more things, in the short term is called Chunking. This is where someone will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Using Breaking Free Of Old Ways Of Thinking Outside The Box Thinking outside the box is a common idiom used to express the idea of breaking free of old ways of thinking. In a real sense, the walls of the box are the borders of our thoughts. Moving past those barriers is considered not only a good thing, but a necessary thing. Yet this is not only about travel. I could have stayed in my home country to study, but I chose instead to bet on myself and apply internationally. As a result I was offered a full paid scholarship. And took this opportunity to place myself as far from my comfort zone. I wanted to not just think outside the box, but exist entirely outside of it. Saudi Arabia, where I am from, has one of the largest economy in the Arab world. And its fast growing economy allows it to be a solid ground for many investing activities. I grew up in a family business that really provided the core of my belief in business and in ones ability to grow and operate important businesses that can compete and be successful. Escalating costs of healthcare services and a shortage of personnel and facilities have put pressure on the health system to deliver more care on an outpatient basis. • 11. Plants And Insects Have A Long History Together Plants and Insects There is no doubt that plants and insects have a long history together. It is an on going relationship that can be beneficial or detrimental to both parties, depending on the situation. Insects pollinate plants, in return the plants provide food for insects. But the relationship between the two isn t always so beneficial. Some insects can kill plants by taking away the essential nutrients away from the plant. There are also insects that are predators. The predator insects help the plants by getting rid of the insects that are killing the plant. There are some plants that have a natural pesticide in their chemical make up and can ward off unwanted bugs. There are other contributing factors to how much of an impact plants and insect have on each other. For example, there may be a plant in or near your garden that attracts insects that are harmful and once that insect is there, it will potentially migrate around to other plants in your garden. When an insect lands on a plant it picks up pollen, then the insect transfers it to another plant. This process is called pollination and is very important in the botanical world. Pollination allows plants to fertilize and reproduce. Some insects use the nectar and pollen of a plant as food. In this situation both plant and insects benefit. Yet, this isn t always the case. President Woodrow Wilson said it was harder to run a constitution than to frame it because of the difficult administrative tasks had to deal with. Sure enough, he was not the only person who felt that way. President Wilson believed that in order to run an effective government, ideas from the private sector should be incorporated into the public sector. He even went as far as to give input on how the government would be able to implement ideas from the private sector to the public sector. And that is to limit what hierarchical organization can do. Wilson believed that those in power would not have control of creating the policy, but they will have a handle on how the policy is implemented. Two themes stood out around the topic of Public Administration the distinction between policy and administration, and the accountability of elected individuals who are a part of an organization. The second theme was around the use of structures and strategies to ensure that management work efficiency. Many had much to say when it came Wilson s statement that Policy and Administration should be separate entities. We see these people as if they were sick, barely living, mentally unstable and can t function or do a job correctly, we even pity them and get sad of how they look like. These emotions that most people feel is no different than how some men feel about women (sexism), or how the dominant race, let s say the white, feels toward an ethnic minority (racism). These emotions toward older people are an indicator of ageism in the society. Ageism can be defined as the discrimination, bias, and the enmity against older people. A great example of ageism is rejecting an older job applicants in favor of a younger one. Three theory apply to aging the elderly. Our first theory is called structural functional theory. As the author of our textbook, John Macionis, agrees that this approach views society as a complex, but interconnected system, where each part works together as a functional whole (p.16). The author of the book applies this approach to the aging topic and show how the operations of the society can be confused and disordered on the fact that people grow old and die ultimately. As a result of that the society dissociate older people from important tasks or disband them from responsibilities as they grow older (p.439). Drawing on the structural functional theory, the disengagement theory illustrates that as people grow old the society eliminates them from their responsibilities and their ... On the other hand, fight club was written in America, the cultural opposite in some respects, to Japan. the main theme within fight club, is masculinity, and how society responds to it. What you end up doing, the mechanic says, is you spend your life searching for a father and God. In this example, I think that God is a symbol of masculinity, and another father figure. A boys dad is often seen as a role model, and an example of what a man should be; and when a boy is without a dad and without God,they don t have an example of manhood, and so spend their life searching for it. it is also a good point. to point out that it is a mechanic that delivers this speech, a profession that has a very dominant, male stereotype, and is classified as a manly job. the book never actually gives a definition for masculinity. • 28. General Pinochet Analysis The church and the regime of general Pinochet were rivals throughout the regime of the general. There were enemies for many reasons. The regime used torture and disappearance. The church used love and peace for unity. The author William Cavanaugh argues that the church in Chile only gradually became the church Christ wanted and needed to be. Excommunication is the formal offering of reconciliation in the hope that even the most hardened offender will be saved (Cavanaugh, 260). According to Cavanaugh the church becomes to re envision its mission in Chile when several bishops considered excommunicating general Pinochet. The reason why several bishops wanted to excommunicate general Pinochet was because people started to realize that the general did prosecuted people against him and tortured them. The church in Chile comes to re envision its mission in Chile because as a result of the General Pinochet, General Contreras, and public leaders as the ones in DINA some ... Some of the opinions were that the bishops were against the excommunication principle, there was not enough proof of what the general was doing, excommunicating the general might bring more torture, and finally there not any unanimity among the bishops (Cavanaugh, 258). Excommunicating the general was something very important for the society of Chile, but at the end he was not excommunicated. Cardinal Silva was unwilling to excommunicate General Pinochet because of a fundamental conviction that to so would be divisive instead of unifying (Cavanaugh, 261). • 30. Chiari Malformation Research Paper There are 4 different types of Chiari malformations. Type 1 is the most common and occurs when the cerebellar tonsil is found below the forman magnum; usually affecting older children or adults and is the only type of malformation that can be acquired. Type II involves both the brainstem and cerebellum below the forman magnum, this type is usually associated with other diseases such as spina bifida and myelomeningocele. This is usually found in children and this type is responsible for the name Arnold Chiari malformation. Type III is the most severe it results in the cerebellum and the brain stem producing a pouch like structure that protrudes from the back of the head and upper neck. This pouch contains brain matter and causes severe neurological deficits. Finally, Type IV is extremely uncommon and involves the complete underdevelopment of the cerebellum ( Different , n.d.). • 31. The Negative Effects Of Alcohol On The Human Body Effects of Alcohol on the Human Body Many teenagers and adults drink alcohol. Often drinking makes a person feel relaxed, confident, happy and sociable. However, would these good feelings be enough, if that person knew the negative effects alcohol has on the human body? Alcohol has immediate negative effects, but also causes long term damage, and can even cause cancer. I believe if everyone had a better understanding of what alcohol does to the human body, there might be a decrease in alcohol consumption. It is important to understand the biology behind how the body digests alcohol; the physical impairments caused by alcohol; the possible consequences of those impairments; and the long term damage that alcohol can do to the body. When the body digests alcohol, there are effects on almost every tissue and organ in the body. According to www.quitalcohol.com, when alcohol is consumed, about one third of it absorbs immediately into the blood through the stomach lining. The remainder absorbs more slowly into the blood, through the small intestine. Once in the bloodstream, alcohol diffuses into almost every biological tissue in the body. Consuming alcohol causes the blood alcohol level to increase. The speed that a person s blood alcohol level increases and the effect it has depends on a lot of factors, including weight, age, gender, body composition, general health and the presence of other drugs or medications. Regardless, any amount of alcohol in the body will have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. The Problem Of Chest Pain Since most people in our society consider chest pain to be of a cardiac origin, pediatric chest pain can not only be scary the child, but can also cause anxiety for the parents due to the fear of their child s condition. Luckily, many causes of chest pain are usually benign and rarely can be a sign of cardiac disease. With this in mind, providers should complete a preliminary evaluation for chest pain, decide on differential diagnoses, and than develop an appropriate plan. Providers should also be aware of the most likely causes of chest pain in children, which include reactive airway disease, musculoskeletal pain, esophagitis, gastritis, and functional pain (Hay, Levin, Deterding, Abzug, 2014). Will all of those in mind, by far the most common cause in children is chest pain from a musculoskeletal injury. The initial evaluation should include a detailed history and physical examination to help guide the provider to the proper workup, and rarely is there a need for laboratory tests or evaluation by a specialist (Hay, Levin, Deterding, Abzug, 2014). First finding out when the pain started, last month, last year, and so forth, will be of high importance, then once a time frame is establish, details about the most recent episode should be obtained. The provider should ask how long the pain lasted, what made it better, made it worse, and then move on to what brought on the pain, with arm movement, breathing, dizziness, particular activity and so forth.
