The document discusses a case study involving Teaneck Construction Company, a small organization that obtains 90% of its revenue from municipal contracts. Teaneck is considering bidding on a large sewer extension project in a nearby town. To submit the most competitive bid, Teaneck's project managers are evaluating using one, two, or three work shifts. Table 1 shows time and cost estimates provided by Teaneck's engineers for each shift option. The project managers are asked to provide a detailed recommendation, including the exact bid to submit.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

1. Case Teaneck
TEANECK CONSTRUCTION COMPANY
Teaneck is a small organization with 90% of its peso volume obtained from contracts for municipal work. Management decided
to submit a bid for the construction in April of a mile–long extension to the main sewer system in a nearby town which until now
has used septic tanks. The bidding is expected to be competitive because whoever gets this contract will have some advantage in
obtaining a contract to be awarded by the town later in the year worth about P50 million. In order to submit the most competitive
bid possible, the project managers of Teaneck decided to evaluate the alternatives of using one, two or three work shifts.
Table 1 shows time and cost estimates of Teaneck's engineers. The trunk sewer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With a great deal of misgiving, the project managers came up with the following guesses:
Length of the strike in days 20 30 40
Probability of a strike of n days, on condition that a strike occurs 0.25 0.25 0.50
You are the project manager assigned. The president and his two executive vice–presidents have asked you for a detailed

5. Caterpillar Mitsubishi Ltd
1. During the two decades following WWII, Caterpillar management focused on an aggressive growth strategy aimed at
anchoring its position as a leading producer of construction machinery on a global scale. This strategy was directed by four
underlying policies. (Exhibit 1) Caterpillar's goal in competing in a global market was to seek new markets and increase its
revenues. High R&D and high capital intensity of Caterpillar's business, and homogenous customer needs favored the
adoption of an aggregation strategy. Caterpillar had recognized that due to its industry focus and worldwide product
standardization policies, there were significant potential savings through economies of scale and scope to be exploited by

one of the leading producers of construction machinery on a global stage. Caterpillar's strategic goal for creating CML was to
gain access to the Japanese and Far East markets, which top management viewed as key in becoming a top global competitor.
Access to this market would have been impossible due to government regulations and other non–market factors such as outcry
from local producers and protectionist groups. By partnering with MHI, Caterpillar gained a partner that allowed it to navigate
the non–market factors in Japan and gain access to the regional market, thus fulfilling its strategic goal of global expansion. In
selecting a partner, Caterpillar was looking for a Japanese company that shared its cultural values, its conservative approach to
business, and its management style. MHI, under the leadership of Mr. Makita, demonstrated such shared valued. MHI had
expertise in metal work, development of large scale machinery, and had access to plant capacity. This overlap in technology and
capabilities increased the absorption capacity between the two partners. Further, the similarities in organizational size,
operations, and culture made MHI a good fit for Caterpillar. Since MHI had no previous experience in development of
construction machinery, it would be dependent on Caterpillar's

9. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Strip Mining
ABSTRACT
Mining is the extraction of profitable minerals or other geographical materials from the earth, normally from a metal body
crease. Digging forms include prospecting for metal bodies, examination of the benefit capability of a proposed mine extraction
of the coveted materials.
Mining actually implies extraction .Our Mother Earth has heaps of assets profound inside her and mining is the strategy for
separating all these significant assets from the earth through various means. There are distinctive techniques to separate these
assets which are found in various structures underneath the world's surface. It's a given that it is the most imperative
accomplishments of humanity, the first being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next, tremendous machines, for example, drag line excavators or container wheel excavators, extricate the mineral.
Rather than underground mining, in which the overlying rock is left set up, and the mineral expelled through shafts or
tunnels.Underground mining is a procedure used to concentrate metals and significant minerals underneath the earth subsurface.
I. Surface Mining Methods
Strip Mining :–
Stripping or strip mining is the evacuation of overburden or waste materials from open–pit surface mines. The procedure
includes machines, for example, stripping scoops, basin wheel excavators, or drag lines to strip away the stone and reveal the
profitable metal that is being mined.
Significant minerals, for example, coal, ironstone, or limestone are revealed by a scoop that burrows long strips or a machine that
cuts and throws the overburden from the pit with a specific end goal to uncover the metal. The stripping scoop normally sits on
of the surface it is mining and is moved forward as the burrowing propels.
Highwall Mining :–

Step 1: Need or Problem Group 11 must create a Mars transporter that is the best appearing and achieves the best performance.
Using existing Mars technologies, as well as technology used here on Earth, a rover must be created which can traverse a varied
track in the shortest time possible without dropping a payload, in addition to drilling into the ground, push Mars materials, and

Step 2: Research Paper
A Transporter for Mars
Transportation of materials and rovers for construction are a must on Mars, where the terrain is harsh and atmospheric conditions
are far from what many are used to on Earth. Future humans must have a place to reside on Mars, which needs to be constructed

The main body of the vehicle (closest to the ground) houses the main motors, and also seats the driver, along with all the controls
used for mobility and functioning the crane. The crane's main feature is an extendable shaft, which at the tip is attached to a
hanging hook or loop. The vehicle itself has high–grip rubber wheels that allow it to carry materials using a metal hook, which
can be attached to objects for transport. The attachment is able to extend to reach farther or higher, depending on where the
object needs to be placed (Manitowoc, n.d.). The vehicle may fail if the main body of the crane is not heavy enough to support
the object it is carrying, resulting in the crane tipping over. In addition, overloading the crane may cause its arm to break. To
decrease the risk of failure, the crane has stabilization apparatus, which roots the vehicle into the ground to avoid it tipping over
during usage. The most innovative feature of the vehicle is the extendable shafter, which allows for a compact "arm" that can
easily extend to reach greater lengths. The materials the vehicle is made out of, mainly metal, rubber, and metal springs, are not
necessarily suited for Mars. Although metal can survive well in harsh conditions, rubber cannot; it is prone to cracking in heavy
sun or freezing conditions, which Mars is full

17. Motivation of Money in Oak Island Money Pit by Lee Lamb
Many people in the world are motivated by money. Whether in the form of treasure or cash, people will come looking for it. The
mystery of a money pit off the shores of Nova Scotia, Canada has attracted treasure hunters for hundreds of years. Scientists have
been trying to discover not only what lies at the bottom, but also how the treasure got to Oak Island. Although there is much
disagreement about who left the treasure behind on Oak Island, the most logical explanation is that the British created the money
pit in the mid 16th century for safe keeping of their newly acclaimed treasure. Oak Island is an uninhabited 140 acre island
located just off the shores of Nova Scotia, Canada. It is part of a chain of approximately 360 islands in Mahone Bay (Scott).
Despite such a small area, this island is home to the historically famous Oak Island Money Pit. This mystery has brought
thousands of people to the island in hopes of finding buried treasure. Most people are unsuccessful while looking for the treasure,
and leave the island with same superstitions they came with. The chapter in history regarding Oak Island Money Pit occurred
when it was first discovered in the summer of 1795. Dan McGinnis, a teenager who lived on the shore of nearby Nova Scotia,
reportedly saw strange lights on the island. McGinnis boarded a small canoe alone to explore the island late that night. Upon first
exploration, he found a large hole in the ground measuring 13 feet in diameter. He also

The Innovator's Dilemma
A book report
Chapter 1: How Can Great Firms Fail? It is possible for established, well–known and admired companies to be unable to
maintain their hold as the leader in their respective industries when faced with certain types of technological change.
"Disruptive" innovations
The leading firms failed because they failed to strategically invest the required resources and commitment to enter the initial
market for an emerging technology to develop it from there. The firms were "held captive" by their customers, as the highlighted
attributes of the emerging technology was of no interest to them (e.g. power of equipment over smaller size); therefore,
innovation and product development by established firms focused mainly on sustaining their target trajectories for revenue and
performance. This was due to fear of eating away at revenue from existing products that had well–researched markets and an
established customer base; therefore, they would delay their release of new technologies until it's too late, when entrant firms
already have economically mature versions available in the market.
Disruptive technologies that topple the established firms are relatively straightforward on the other hand, using pre–existing parts
or methods in a novel way or

The window rolled down as I heard the clanging of drills in the ground and the honks of angry drivers, my father included.
Nevertheless, as we were waiting for the traffic, my father turns to his right and says, "Justin, what do you want to be when you

The United States does have fluorite deposits of its own, but most of the fluorite used for commercial use is imported from
various countries with only very small amounts being mined from within the US. From 2011–2014 the major fluorite producers
included, in order of largest US import percentage: Mexico (76%), China (11%), South Africa (8%), and Mongolia (3%). The
countries with the largest production and reserves respectively of fluorspar in order of thousands of metric tons are: China
(3,800, 24,000), Mexico (1,100, 32,000), Mongolia (375, 22,000), and South Africa (200, 41,000) [8]. Fluorspar is commonly
found as vein or replacement deposits and as additions to other minerals and rock formations such as granite, carbonate, and
alkaline rock which are mined using both underground and open pit mining methods. The most economically viable and widely
used of these methods is vein mining, which produces some of the highest grades of fluorspar [9]. Before discussing the mining
methods used, some key terms will be defined for reference.
Key Terminology [10]
Drift – Horizontal passageway following the ore deposit.
Stope – Area left behind once the ore has been mined.
LHD – Loading Dumping Hauling Vehicles.
Dilution – Mixing of ore with waste material which lowers the grade of the ore.
Overburden – Materials that cannot be used for economic gain such as soil that overlay mineable ore.

When you are excavating a property, it is important to hire the right piece of equipment for the task at hand. A Dingo mini digger
or excavator is just as effective, if not more so, than larger pieces of excavation equipment for many types of situations. To
ensure that you receive the right mini digger for your particular task, you must consider the following things.
Type of Excavation
Understand that type of excavation is necessary for your project. The mini diggers are ideal for the following tasks:
Trenching
Rotary Hoeing
Post Stump Holes
Stump Grinding
Soil Moving
Small Access Jobs
What Kind of Attachment Is Necessary
Along with the basic mini digger, you will need the right attachment to accomplish your project. The trencher attachment will dig
the hole and then reverse to cover over the trencher once you install the cables, pipes or other necessary items in the trench. For
the garden or other landscape project, the rotary hoe attachment breaks up the soil to obtain the ideal texture for planting and
seeding. Auger attachments for the diggers come in different sizes to dig post stump holes to the exact dimensions for your fence
or other posts. With the stump grinder for this digger, the operator will be able to grind right, left and forward, and this ensure
that the machine will throw the debris away from the digger at all times. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Palace of Knossos was the capital of Minoan Crete. The Place is grander, complex and flamboyant than any of the other
palaces known to us. Knossos is located about twenty minutes south of the modern port town of Iraklion. The British
Archaeologist Arthur Evans, the man who excavated the site in 1900 AD restored parts of the palace in a way that it is possible
today to appreciate the grandeur and complexity of a structure that evolved over several millennia and grew to occupy about
20,000 square meters.
According to Greek mythology, the palace was designed with such complexity by famed architect Dedalos that no one placed in
it could ever find its exit. The architect was then kept prisoner by King Minos to ensure that he would not reveal the palace plan
to anyone. The Palace of Knossos was discovered by Minos Kalokairinos in 1878. It was then Sir Arthur Evans, and English

Abstract
This paper analyses one of many hazards existing in Rusaifah Bridge and Intersection Construction Project. The intentions of this
paper are to analyze and assist the risk of the hazard using different Risk Assessment Matrices. The paper demonstrates different
scenarios of human and environmental factors that could contribute to the risk of the hazard. Construction accidents can be
eliminated by recognizing the root causes of accidents, which could be achieved by implementing accident investigation
techniques such as Human Factor Theory. The theory provides explanations why accidents happen. This paper provides a
reasonable measure to reduce the risk of this hazard to a minimum level.

Therefore, one of the best courses of actions to reduce the risk of the hazard to a minimum would be by protecting the cables
from any environmental and human factors. The best solution would be by hanging the cables on temporary poles on each side of

caused by continuous friction with the ground or human errors.

69. On The Move Reflection
On the Move My family and I depended on my father for a paycheck every month to pay for bills and groceries, but one month
the paycheck never came. My father had lost his job from Caterpillar in Decatur, Illinois. When it happened, I was in third grade,
and I had no worries, didn't care about how I looked, and made sure that I was doing well in school. My younger brothers were in
kindergarten and preschool at the time, were six and three years old, and only cared about the toys they wanted from the store.
My mother was a stay at home mother, and tended to the house and all of our needs at home when it occurred. My father had lost
his job, my family lost the paycheck that paid for everything.
I had no idea my father lost his job until I got home from school that day. When I walked in, I saw my father sitting upon his
chair, in the family room, with bloodshot eyes. I was amazed– I never saw my father cry before. I always thought that he was this
extremely tall man who could care less about what other people thought of him, who could do almost anything, who loved my
mother, my brothers, and I so dearly. I asked him what was the matter, but all he did was tell me to go to my room and do my
homework. Then, I went and asked my mother why my father was acting the way he was, all she said was, "Your father and I
will tell you and your brothers later." It wasn't until dinner when my mother and father told my younger brothers and I what had
happened. My brothers did not seem to

81. Anemospili Minoan Site Analysis
The 'temple' of Anemospilia is located at the northern end of Mount Iuktas, overlooking arable land and modern day Heraklion,
with extensive views both to the east and the west. The site was excavated by J. Sakellarakis in 1979, and given its small size,
turned out to be one of the most controversial excavations to have taken place in Crete.
The building is unusual for a Minoan site in that it is more symmetrical and less labyrinthine than most Minoan remains. The
simple design consists of three rectangular rooms in a row, and a corridor or antechamber running the length of the three rooms
to the north of the building. There is no other example of such a building from the Minoan–Mycenean periods. However, Dennis
Hughes points out in his book ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Along the south wall there was a bench which may have been used both for sitting on and for placing cult objects. The most
interesting find in this room was a pair of larger–than–life–size clay feet and ash from a burnt wooden object. This evidence
suggests that there was originally a large statue here. The body would have been made of wood and slotted onto two sticks at the
top of the clay feet. The body would have been dressed in material and the feet would not have been visible. It is possible that the
statue originally stood on the bench next to the only piece of bare rock which intruded into the building, deliberately allowed to
do so as it represented "sacred earth".
The eastern room was where bloodless ritual ceremonies took place. Along the south wall there was a stepped altar. The finds
here were smaller in size than in the central room and included two small bronze boxes similar in design to others found at
Mycenae and in the Mycenaean royal burial at Tholos Tomb A in Phourni cemetery near Archanes. Large bowls were placed on
the stepped altar and it is known that these would have been used for offerings of agricultural produce –– fruit, crops, vegetables,
wine and

3.1.1 GHG emission from production of building materials for small residential buildings belonging to EWS in India
Electricity is prime source of energy for production of most of the conventional building materials in India. The emission for
production of electric energy varies from time to time and country to country based on the power generation processes and
capacity of that particular country. In India as on 31.03.2014, the generation capacity of 211093 MW was distributed as 65.4%
Coal–based, 19.1% Hydro, 2.3% Nuclear, 8.6% Gas–based, 2.7% Lignite–based and the rest 1.9% is from other sources like
Naptha, Oil, Diesel etc. Average emission of all stations in the grid, weighted by net generation has been calculated as 0.82 t

Sand is collected from quarries, river bed or sea beaches and excavated predominantly by mechanically operated excavators.
Fuel consumed by a 5 MT capacity excavator is around 45 litres of diesel for 8 hours operation and approx 100 cu.m of
excavation and dumping of sand. One litre of diesel produces 0.00263 MT of CO2 [33]. So for excavation of sand from quarry,
approx 0.0008 MT per MT of sand or 0.00128 MT of CO2 is emitted per cu.m of sand (considering bulk density of cement as 1.6
MT/cu.m.).
In a stone quarry, minimum specific fuel consumption has been estimated as 89 gallons/MT (400.5 litres / MTe) for a mine
transport system with three excavators and two crushers [34]. In a stone crushing plant of 160 MT per day capacity, which
consists of primary crusher, secondary and tertiary crushers, vibratory screen, belt conveyors etc., about 450 kWh power and
9.76 litres of diesel is required per day for production crushed stonechips. A total number of 15 skilled and unskilled workmen
are required apart from 40 unskilled workmen at the quarry [35]. CO2 equivalent of the calorific energy required by the person
engaged in such work is 4.48 kg CO2eq./cap/day. Considering all the above factors, CO2 emission for production of crushed
stonechips comes to be 1.057 MT per MT of

89. Earth Moving Equipment
Introduction
Earth moving equipment are the machines human make to replace the hard work from the human; the machines made by humans
to perform digging; grading; leveling; removing; etc to earth moving from one side to the other side. There is Bulldozer,
excavator, grader, loader, roller, forklift, tractor, bobcat, and truck, etc.
Earth moving equipment is replacing the hard tough work; back break jobs to easy jobs for the workers. Machines do a lot better
than the human force. They can do a big job in the short time. So the time can be save and finish the job earlier, leading to the
economic affect. They run by the power machines, so they do not need a lot of people in the same task. Most of the equipment
can be used at any time, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The special task of this machine is digging.
In the early age when the human tools are just the picks, shovels. With the basic tools, men must work very hard to tackle the
job. Now the machines are in place after time to time to refine, the excavator 322B appears to help. This unit is used to replace
the manpower by machine, with the circle rate very fast; it can do the job better on the field. It can dig or pick up a huge amount
of dirt and ship it aside. It can break the rock to the small pieces to level the surface in a limit time. The machine can handle a job
equal to 200–man power in daily work.
This machine was built to counteract the need of huge digging job around the field. It operates with the other earth moving
machines such as dump truck, loader, etc
We can see this machines every where: around the field, in the habour, in city, on the side of the road. Perhaps it is busy digging
sand, breaking down rock, digging the drain lines, and lifting a piece of concrete. Really, it is a great machine.
The machine is run by tracks. The speed is up to 5.5 km/hr. The huge arm attaches to the body of the unit. With the hydraulic
system, the arm can stretch out, fold in, lift high in the sky, and dig deep into the surface of the earth. With the special basket
located on the tip of the arm, it can dig deep into the ground, pick up soil then swing around to unload to the truck located

advised when he arrived at work at approximately 0700 hours on 11/03/2016, he observed a variety of criminal mischief at a new
building (clubhouse) construction site. He observed red spray paint on the interior and exterior walls of the clubhouse structure.
The floor area that was prepped to have the cement poured was destroyed. The floor area was driven over and the dirt dug up

melbourneminidiggers.com.au – Safety Excavation and Trenching Using Mini Diggers
Safety is a major concern when it comes to the excavation and trenching of soil. While large machines can perform these tasks
effectively when there is adequate space, mini diggers are the better alternative for those places that have limited space. Heavy,
massive excavators will not manoeuvre easily in these spaces, and this may lead to accidents and injuries. On the other hand,
mini excavators can work efficiently in the limited space and dig a trench as well as their larger counterparts do no matter the
purpose of the trench.
Operators Have Full Line of Sight From Mini Excavators

The operators do not leave any open holes since this may cause a hazardous situation for pedestrians. In some cases, no one will

Mini Excavators Work Efficiently in Tight Places
Even in tight places, a mini excavator will adeptly perform its task. This will eliminate problems that at times, happen with larger
excavators when they become stuck between structures. Whether the trench is right up next to a building or out in the middle of a
field, this machine will excel at digging it.

In 1882, Congress made considerably stronger move in the Chinese Exclusion Act, the country's first supremacist, prohibitive
movement law. The Act suspended all movement of Chinese workers for ten years and precluded any court to concede Chinese
individuals for citizenship. What brought the Chinese to America in any case? Likewise with numerous migrant gatherings, it
was a combo of "push" and "draw" components. Numerous meant to escape destitution and oppression in China and would have

There were two primary parts of the Immigration Act of 1882. The principal was to make a "head impose" that might be forced

3" service and main are actually steel and call for a contractor keyhole crew to encapsulate the tee. They also encapsulated the 4"
cast iron to steel coupling exposed in the excavation. After the keyhole contractor encapsulates the tee and coupling,
Construction Mechanic 1 takes readings and smells gas. He receives readings in the bank of the excavation. The keyhole

They rode the golf cart to the west end of town and then set off some of the explosives. Having detonated the bombs they got
every zombie within a five–mile radius headed in their direction and away from the school. A few minutes after hearing the
explosions, Albert said that he, James, and Laura went to work. They quickly got the excavator hot–wired and then did the same
to the NYSEG truck that was parked on the side of the road with a flatbed full of concrete dividers. James swung the truck over
to the west side of the bridge and parked it horizontally blocking the entrance. He then used the excavator to tip the truck over on
its side, spilling the dividers and creating a makeshift dam of debris. He and James then used a couple of chain saws to cut down
tree limbs from the oaks and pines that lined the embankment of Black Bottom Creek. With the help of Laura they used them to
fill in any gaps in the blockade, thereby completely closing off any remaining entryways they could see becoming problematic.
The last thing they had time to do before the dead started making their way back over to the bridge after having heard all the
clamor, was to slide in some fence posting. They then wrapped the posts with cattle wire hooking it all up to a series of car
batteries via jumper cables and an amplifier. At that point Johnny said, "Yeah, I found that one out the hard way," as he gave a

still in very good condition. However, the site is very far away from any natural water sources in the present day. Excavators did
find sediment and fluvial deposits suggesting that occasionally in the past the site had an inflow of water (Genchi, Giardino, and

Later that year and throughout 2013, excavators worked on the site, conducting surveys and digging test trenches. Excavators
found kilns and furnaces, layers of floor, and metal objects, like ax heads, swords, daggers, and sledgehammer heads in very
good condition. Excavators believe it is a very well preserved site because of the formation and rapid movement of the desert
sands which covered up the site relatively quickly after it was abandoned (Genchi, Giardino, and Castelluccia 3–4). Sites with
similar metal deposits dating to approximately the same time have been found in the region, at Ibri, for example, 50 km west of
As Safah (Yule 39–40). The site itself has been delineated into As Safah 1 and 2 based upon the deposit of material found on

Safah 2 measures approximately 17 hectares (Genchi, Giardino, and Castelluccia 11). The surrounding area is made up of a wadi
and dune deposits and the annual precipitation is less than 50 mm. As a result, large amounts of rainfall will cause flash floods in
this and surrounding low areas (Genchi, Giardino, and Castelluccia 5–6). The site does not appear to be close to a fruitful water
source. The entire region is hyperarid and not conducive to farming. The rain comes erratically by the year, some years being

149. The Position Of Marble Plc
Introduction This paper discusses the positions of Marble Plc (Marble) in two cases with Redd Ltd (Redd) and Gearight Ltd
(Gearight), following issues arisen from the procurement and works of a demolition package. It considers the legal positions and
discusses the potential liabilities Marble may face in claims against Gearight and Redd. The areas of law in question are first
determined and the principles explained. Analysis of the facts and principles of the two cases using existing case law is then
introduced, and advice is given to Marble of their legal positions. Areas of Law to Discuss In the cases of Marble v Redd, and
Marble v Gearight, there is evidence to consider the following legal principles: – Contract Law: Elliot ... Show more content on

For example, payment for, and the construction of a building. – Offer & Acceptance: To come to an agreement, offer and
acceptance are required, to begin to determine if a legally binding contract has been formed. A contract requires "Offer &
Acceptance, Valuable Consideration, Intention and capacity" explain Uher & Davenport (2002). The offeror must offer
something of value to which an offeree may then accept. – Invitation to Treat: Described by Macantile (2012) as "expression of
willingness to negotiate", an offeror is not bound to an agreement from an invitation to treat. For example, "the display of goods;
the advertisement of a price; and an invitation for tenders" identify some types of invitation to treat. This recognises an
opportunity to negotiate, where the "inviter can change his or her mind," before finally accepting, describes Macantile (2012). –
Rejection: A clear refusal of terms; simply put by Moles (2014) A rejection is "a termination of offers, explicitly or by counter
offer". – Counter Offer: A counter offer occurs when the offeree replies to the offeror with an adjustment to the originally or
previously offered terms as ruled by Lord Langdale in the case of Hyde v Wrench (1840) where the offeree "responded to an
offer by making an offer on different terms" (e–lawresources, 2014). In addition, Moles (2014) states, "A counter offer kills the
original offer"; however "A mere enquiry" as demonstrated in Stephenson Jacques & Co v

153. Proposed Four Storey Car Park Building Project During The...
The purpose of the construction plan is to identify and address all issues relating to the proposed four–storey car park building
project during the construction stage.
1.2 Procedure
The construction work will be discussed in terms of methodology (including resourcing?), quality control, site safety and
environmental protection. Each part will be discussed by dividing it into different construction phases to deal with problems
associated with this phase separately. Finally, the most cost–efficient practice for each part is recommended in section
RECOMMENDATION with Method statement, Inspection and Testing Plan, Task analysis, and Environmental Plan in
APPENDIX.
1.3 Background
With the rise of population level in Auckland and increasing new student enrolment at Unitec over years, it is becoming essential
to find a viable alternative to the current open car parks on campus to improve parking capacity near Entry 3 and Entry 4.
The aim of this project is to construct a four–storey reinforced concrete car park building on time, on budget, to required
standards, with minimal adverse effects on the surrounding environment and without compromising the health and safety of the
workers and the general public.
2 ESTABLISHMENT
The purpose is to ensure establishing the site rapidly and efficiently, to provide plant, materials and the onsite works maximum
security, to facilitate the contractors' staff and the Client when they are working or visiting site, and to prioritize the
