Why Eugenics Is The Human Population Responsible For...
Many wonder if it is ethical to use genetic information to alter natural processes of procreation to give
people the best genes they can get. There are already ways to predict the presence of a genetic disease
in a child based on the parents and in vivo testing. Eugenics is increasing the number of genes in the
human population responsible for improving intelligence, beauty, musical ability and other traits we
value (Munson, 2012 272 273) Eugenics is often confused to just be for consideration of the parents
and the child. However, the definition of eugenics is reliant on the outcome for the entire human
population. The two types of eugenics include positive and negative; positive eugenics is The aim of

He states that procreative beneficence is Couples (or single reproducers) should select the child, of the
possible children they could have who is expected to have the best life, or at least as good a life as the
others, based on the relevant, available information . (Savulescu 295). This definition suggests that
people have a moral obligation to choose what is best for their child based on what they know. He
argues that there is a way to select from a large range of possible children people could have; most
commonly, this is done by using fetal selection through prenatal testing and termination of pregnancy
(Savulescu 296). Technology is already in place for procreative beneficence , it just needs to be
utilized properly. He is not arguing for the positive selection of traits that will correspond to those that
result in a better life. When he presents the example of testing for the genetic predisposition for poor
memory, he suggests that there is a positive obligation to test for memory profiles if the results of poor
memory are horrible (298). Savulescu seems to support the idea of a decent life, but not the best life
possible for all traits. The boundaries about what defines intelligence are still vague, but plato claims
that life is a mixture of wisdom and pleasure (Savulescu 298). These factors need to be balanced, and
if there is a genetic code that selects for these traits, Savulescu would likely support them being
chosen.
There are a few ethical problems with

My Experience At My First Volleyball Practice
It was the start of a new day, the sun was shining, and autumn had decided take over for the summer. I
had just started a new sport, and my first practice was today. My gaze was fixed on the window
watching the cars drive by, and then my dad popped the question. The decision that I made about this
question has shaped and changed my life forever.
I had woken up in feeling very gusto that day all because my first volleyball practice was supposed to
start today. It was a nice cool fall morning with red, orange, and golden leaves scattered all over the
ground, in the trees, and filling the air. I walked outside and felt the cool, crisp air expand around my
body. My breath was thin and clear as I released each breath. Stepping into the car, my ... Show more

When I rose from my deep slumber, we were halfway home and my dad was talking with my mom on
the phone, so I decided that it would be amusing if I pretended that I was asleep and listened to their
conversation. I deliberately realized that their conversation was about me. I gradually started to
wonder what they could possibly be talking about that was so important, so I was still and listened as
closely as possible. Then I heard it the only word that I didn t want to hear. Sports. I started to become
anxious and fearful as I started to wonder what they wanted to do with sports, and why they were
talking specifically about me. My sister did plenty of sports too. My dad hung up the phone and I
finally decided that it was time to open up my eyes. When I did open them up my dad glanced over at
me and said, Anna we need to talk.
I knew that at that moment something wrong and terrible was about to happen. All I said was, Okay ,
and I braced myself for what was about to happen. He fixed his eyes on the road again, and then
looked back at me with a sorrowful look on his face that made his face look contorted, this is how I
knew that I wasn t going to like what he was going to say at all. He opened his mouth once, but
nothing came out. He opened it the same way again, only this time the words came spilling out of his
mouth.
I m sorry to say this, but mom and I talked and we decided that it would be best if you only did two

Young Offenders In Australia
your response.
The Australian criminal justice system approaches young offenders through unique strategies to
address the challenges of dealing with juvenile offending. Even though young offenders commit a
higher percentage of crime compared to adults, young offenders also have the highest likelihood to be
rehabilitated and change their lifestyle as they mature, resulting in a lower court appearance
percentage due to the different rights children have.
There are a few repetitive reasons for young people to be involved in crime. These include poor
parental supervision, drug and alcohol abuse, neglect and abuse, homelessness, negative peer
associations, difficulties in school and employment.
The justice achieved for young offenders is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Outsider Outsiders
I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for
freedom in the history of our nation (Martin Luther King). GETTYSBURG ADDRESS (19
NOVEMBER 1863) [1] Fourscore and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a
new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal (
Abraham Lincoln). We meet at a time of tension between the United States and Muslims around the
world tension rooted in historical forces that go beyond any current policy debate (Barack Obama).
All of these are the starting point of great changes. These famous historical figures are considered
Outsiders The Term Outsider Literally means One who does not belong to a particular group.
Perception is the main key in deciding if someone belongs when they are an outsider. If you look at it
from one group they don t belong and from another they do. One of the most famous outsiders in
history is Martin Luther King. He was considered this because he decided to take a stance against
what s normal and average. He wanted to have equal rights for both African Americans and
Caucasians. By doing this he was considered an outsider by all people. They either stood with him or
against him during his outside revolution. Although he did not like to be considered an outsider as
shown by this quote Injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere. Anyone who lives in the US can
never be considered an outsider anywhere in the country He was an outsider by trying to make no one
feel like an outsider themselves. So throughput this he didn t belong to the groups trying not to allow
equal rights. But to the people, he stood up with he was a leader and belonged to their group, therefore
even if you don t feel like you belong with the group you re in, you have a network. The next outsider
is Our famous 16th president Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln was considered the rail splitting candidates
throughout his campaign and presidency. He was born and raised from working class roots. This set
him apart from his opposing candidate William H. Seward (who was the former governor of New
York and a sitting Senator. Seward came from a high class family, born and

The Diary of Anne Frank Essay
The Diary of Anne Frank
In this project, I will be comparing the life of Anne Frank to mine.
Firstly, I will give a brief timeline of the main events that took place in her lifetime. Then I will begin
to compare the various aspects of her life to mine. Finally, I will draw up a conclusion.
Annelies Marie Frank was born in Frankfurt, Germany, just 60 years before I was, 1929. During the
first three years of her life, The
Great Depression happened. The National Socialist Party began to gain support. In 1933, Hitler was
made Chancellor. This was the same year that Otto Frank and his family moved to Holland. A year
later Anne began school and in 1935 Juden Verboten ( No Jews ) appeared on signs in restaurants and

Otto Frank is the soul survivor from the annex.
Anne had a fairly middle class life up until she moved to Holland.
There she made new friends, but lived a lesser lifestyle. The only comparison I can think of is when I
moved to middle school. I was the only one to go to Lindisfarne from my first school, it was hard at
first, but I soon made new friends. Obviously moving countries is much harder than schools so I can
only imagine what it would have been like for Anne.
It wasn t long before her eleventh birthday, around the same time that
Jews were starting to be erased from Germany. At this time, Anne had to go to an all Jewish school.
This was her first experience of other people hating her because of her own religion.
Anne wasn t able to speak to her friends, go to the cinema/theatre, go shopping, use a telephone or
even go to the park. All of her everyday activities and rights were taken away. If this happened to me,
I don t know what I would do to keep entertained.
All this time spent in Holland, her father had foreseen what was happening and was planning to go
into hiding. It finally happened in
1942. Anne was thirteen and had received the famous diary, her elder sister; Margot had been called in
for a work camp. This was the final signal Otto needed. They moved into the secret annexe on July
6th,
1942. A week later they were joined by the Van Daan family and Mr

Disadvantages Of Child Soldiers
Introduction
For most of human history, war has generally been conceptualized as a domain of adults in uniform.
However, in the past decades, a disturbing trend has surfaced children, both boys and girls, are
increasingly taking up arms. While this is not an entirely new attribute of warfare, the use of child
soldiers in history has been an exception and not a regular feature as it appears to be today. According
to international law, a child soldier is defined as any individual who is aged below eighteen and part of
an armed organization. A conservative estimate of the number of child combatants stands at 300,000
and this excludes the other half a million children who perform non combat duties in the army.
Approximately 75 percent of armed conflict in the world involves children fighters. The worrying
situation is best expressed by Peter W. Singer: Children, as young as 6 and 7 years old, are serving as
combatants on every continent but Antarctica. Given these statistics, one can speculate that there may
actually be underlying military advantages in using children to fight wars, and this is exploited by
those who employ them. This is the premise which I base my research on. Adopting the understanding
that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The students watched this video, then discussed what they thought were the important take aways. The
main points the teachers seemed to want the students to take away from that video is what causes earth
quakes, what are the strongest type of earthquake, and how do we measure earthquakes. The second
video the class watched, showed video footage of the aftermath of some earthquakes that have
happened in history. The video showed destruction of buildings, and how earthquakes can cause
tsunamis and the destruction that tsunamis also cause. The point of this video was to show the students
how important the engineering of building is, and got them to start thinking about their own bridges
and how they can withstand an earthquake. We did not directly discuss bridges this week though, our
focus was primarily on earthquakes.
When we broke up into our teams, my team was trying to answer two specific questions; what are the
effects of an earthquake? And can we build earthquake proof buildings. I worked with two boys in the
class, Kendall and Sean to help answer these questions. To answer these questions each of the students
had a laptop and used Google Classroom to access links to websites the teachers provided to answer
these questions. We discussed what the effects of an earthquake are, this included destruction of
buildings, fatalities,

Horseshoe Crab Essay
The horseshoe crab, Limulus polyphemus
The horseshoe crab, Limulus polyphemus is known as a marine chelicerate arthropod. It s from the
Limulidae family and more commonly found along the northern Atlantic coast of North America.
The horseshoe crab makes use of different habits depending on it s current stage of development. They
lay there eggs on the coastal beaches during the late spring and summer. Once the eggs hatch, the
young horseshoe crabs are found offshore, within sandy areas of tidal flats. Adult horseshoe crabs are
found in deeper parts of the ocean waters (National Wildlife Federation). The horseshoe crab is more
related to arachnids, which is a group related to spiders and scorpions, rather than crustaceans, which
are more related to crabs, shrimps and lobsters (Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission).
The lifespan of a horseshoe crab is up to 20 40 years in the wild. There structure has not changed
much for the past 445 million years. One hypothesis is that the hard exoskeleton of horseshoe crab
allows them to survive predators and as a result they have been to live through many decades.

as a molt, which acts as their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Examples Of Dehumanization And Isolation In Flowers For...
Dehumanization and Isolation. These are the main themes in the short story by Danielle Keyes, titled
Flowers for Algernon . Flowers for Algernon is about a boy who is much less intelligent than the
average person, so to make himself smarter, he undergoes an experimental surgery. But as Charlie s IQ
continues to grow, he soon comes to find out that all good things must come to an end. Many say that
Charlie starts out as the object of dehumanization and isolation, seeing as how his friends treat him,
but many more insist that the dehumanization and isolation aren t completely developed until the
middle of the story, where Charlie becomes too smart to interact with the people that gave him his
newfound intelligence. These themes are often debated upon as to whether or not they become more
or less relevant as the story progresses, but what most don t consider is that these themes have always
appeared in Charlie s life, he was just too blind to see what was always there. In the beginning of the
story, Charlie is quizzed with the Rorschach Test. The test administer tells Charlie to tell him what he
sees in the ink. Since Charlie has a tendency to take things quite literally, he first tries to find actual
objects in the ink. When the administrator tell him that s not quite what he means, Charlie get scared
that the administrator is mad at him because he thinks he spilled the ink. This already demonstrates
how dehumanized and isolated Charlie really is. Later in the story, Charlie finds out that he has been
chosen to undergo the experimental procedure and happily agrees even though he really has no idea
what he is getting into. This is demonstrated in the story when writes And she said Charlie your going
to have a second chance. If you volenteer for this experament you mite get smart. They dont know if it
will be perminint but theirs a chance. Thats why i said ok even when i was scared because she said it
was an operashun (Keyes 206). After Charlie s operation is when the real dehumanization and
isolation begin to make their way into the limelight. When Charlie decides to go out with his work
friends , the first hint of dehumanization begins to show when Charlie finally realizes that they are not

Barrel Racing Essay
Barrel racing is a timed event in rodeos where a rider and horse try to complete a clover leaf pattern in
the fastest time. It takes skills from the rider and the horse to make a good run. It takes good athletic
ability from the horse and good horsemanship from the rider to take a horse safely through the barrels.
The judges set up the barrels in a triangle in the center of the arena. There is normally a flagger in the
ring that waves a flag when you start and waves it again when you cross the finish line. There is a
person that starts and stops the timer when that flag is waved.
This event was originally made for women. When barrel racing first started the pattern fluctuated
between a figure eight pattern and the clover leaf that is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fastest time gets a half of a second added onto it to make the 2D division. Then the fastest 1D
time gets a whole second added to it to make the 3D division. The 4D division is one and a half
seconds added to the fastest time of the whole event.
There are some rules in barrel racing. Number one is the fastest time wins. The rider and horse aren t
judged on anything but that. If the rider and horse run past a barrel and get out of the pattern, they get
a no time score or they get disqualified. If the racer or her horse knocks a barrel over, they get a five
second penalty which normally gives them a time that is to slow to win or place. There is a sixty
second time limit to complete the course. The barrels have to be fifty five gallons, they have to be
metal, and they have to be at least two colors. Most competitions also require the rider to wear a long
sleeve western shirt that is tucked in, western cut pants or jeans, a western hat, and western boots. The
contestant has to be dressed like this one hour before the event.
There is also special tack that is used for barrel racing. Bits are one thing. There isn t any rule that says
what type of bit you have to use but there are bits that are more common to riders than others. The
type of bit used is determined by the riders based on the horses needs. Bits with longer shanks cause
the horse to stop faster and bits with shorter shanks are used for more lateral work. Other things are
put on the bit like curb

Geoffrey Chaucer Influences
Geoffrey Chaucer My poet Geoffrey Chaucer was born circa 1340 in London England. In 1357 he

Archetypes In Flatland
The book Flatland basically describes a 2dimesional world where shapes live with no knowledge
about 3 D objects moving like 3 D things or dimensions. Reading this book helped me think
differently about geometry because I never would have thought much about the value of being able to
see things in the way that we do. Sure in this book there weren t any math equations in this book but
the perspectives of the square character, thoughts, the flat land shapes classifications and actions made
me think about how great it is to see things the way we see things in geometry and life and move the
way we do that flat landers can t. In flat and they re classified by the shape, gender, and even job in
some cases, the shapes are triangles, pentagons, lines hexagons, and other irregular shape. Women are
treated like threats to the level they are watched and basically imprisoning and watched like monsters.

The United States Should Have More Power Essay
States should have more power The United States today uses a federal system of government where
power is shared between the national government and the state government. Through the use of fiscal
federalism, the national government tries to influence the policies of the states through the use of
grants. This leads to cooperative federalism, where the local, state, and federal government share the
expense of programs and projects. Sometimes the federal government makes the states take action
without providing the sufficient funds. When that happens, it is called an unfunded mandate. We need
to have more devolution in the United States. That is when the federal government gives more power
to the states to make and change policies. The federal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Last summer the Obama Administration finalized climate regulations for new and existing power
plants under the clean air act. Those regulations targeted coal fired power plants, the cost of energy
went up significantly for all Americans but especially Utahns. The increase expense of energy has put
more strain on the family, individuals, and businesses will destroy jobs and strain economic growth.
All these consequences have been for nothing. No matter what you believe on the subject of man
made greenhouse emissions, the regulations will have a negligible impact if any on global
temperatures. If the states would have more power over the regulation of emissions, it would lead to
an economic growth not only in the nation but especially in Utah. Having more power on the state
level is sometimes not even enough. For example Salt Lake County has a very high concentration of
emission. Utah county has significantly less emission being released into the atmosphere. But we are
taxed the same amount as they are. Sometimes putting power in the states can not adequately solve
problems, but putting more power on the local level can lead to a more democratic

The Army Of The United States
The movement from a drafted to an all volunteer force has proven to provide the Army of the United
States with some of its most impressive Soldiers. Whether Soldiers desire to join the military for the
pay, job security or answering the call to serve their country, these desires have become increasingly
obsolete in today s Army because of budget cuts. The Army will begin to lose quality Soldiers due to
continued pay cuts to military pay, basic allowance for housing and changes to retirement plans. On
March 2014, presented to Congress was a 495.6 billion dollar budget for the Department of Defense
(DOD). This newly presented budget is a 400 million dollar cut from the previous fiscal year (FY)
(October 1, 2014). This budget will create a smaller; yet, agile force that can still rapidly support the
United States of America at any time. The budget will stand for continued advancements in protection
and applied research to help ensure future competitive advantages for the United States of America.
With that said, where would the 400 million dollar DOD budget cuts be made? According to the
United States Department of Defense Budget Request of Fiscal Year 2015 (DOD BR15) (2014), in
order to continue to build a readily available force to support the country s needs, budget cuts are
needed and will be made at the expense of the Soldiers. Military Soldiers and families are set to suffer

was no such thing as privacy in Manzanar; a luxury taken for granted in today s society was unknown

The Berlin Boxing Club By Robert Sharenow
For the last outside reading book, I chose to read The Berlin Boxing Club by Robert Sharenow. The
original reason I chose it was because the author is actually my uncle. Turns out it was a great choice
as I greatly enjoyed reading this novel. The book is from the perspective of Jewish a teenage boy and
his family during the 1930s in Nazi Germany. I gained new perspective on the culture in germany
during world war two through the eyes of a teenager. I would definitely recommend this book to the
history department to be added to the curriculum. The main reason for this recommendation is that
students will be able to learn about the culture in Germany right before World War II from the
perspective of someone their age. This will give students a more entertaining look at the history
around World War II and will make learning about it much easier. I recommend this book specifically
to a freshman or sophomore history class. The protagonist in the story is a teenage boy named Karl
that many freshman and sophomore students could identify with. He goes through many of the same
challenges that many younger teenager go through. He struggles fitting in socially at school and has
girl problems. This novel was very easy to read and did not have too much difficult vocab. The book is
also fast pace, which makes reading it particularly smooth. The students will also be able to really see
what it was like to live in Nazi germany in the 30s from the perspective of someone their age. The

Vasoplegic syndrome is a severe vasodilatory shock characterised by hypotension, tachycardia, normal

it is also been reported during non cardiac surgery [2,3]. The incidence of vasoplegic syndrome is 8
10% in cardiac surgery [4], and its risk factors include intravenous heparin, beta blockers, calcium
channel blockers, renin angiotensin system antagonists, protamine use, myocardial dysfunction,
diabetes mellitus, presence of pre cardiopulmonary bypass hemodynamic instability, increased

The Invention Of The Gas Turbine Essay
The modern gas turbine was born from two early fields of technology: the steam turbine and the
internal combustion engine. [1] In 1678, Ferdinand Verbiest designed a horseless carriage that relied
on an early steam jet for power and propulsion, this is thought to be the first self propelled automobile
in history. Eventually, inventors attempted to create an alternative to the steam engine and the idea of
the gas turbine was born. While the claim to inventing the gas turbine has never truly been resolved, it
can be traced back to as early as the late 1700s. Over the next century and a half many pioneers have
attempted to solve the challenge of the early gas turbine in order to create a power source that could
compete with steam turbines of the day. In truth, the invention of the modern day industrial gas turbine
can be contributed to the combined works of many inventors.
It is nearly impossible to talk about the history of the modern gas turbine without first mentioning the
late history of the steam turbine. The industrial revolution was born through the invention of energy
conversion devices that could be used to replace the natural power sources such as wind and water
movement. In 1712, Newcomen created the first functional steam engine. Despite the fact that it was
allowing people to break away from the dependence on wind and water power, this engine had low
efficiency compared to the previous power sources. James Watt improved this with the addition of a
condenser

Importance Of Voting In Texas
Texas has a long ballot, which is an election system that provides for the election that lists all

Texas and five other state executive officials, three railroad commissioners, one member of the State
Board of Education (SBOE), one state senator, one state representatives, nine members if the Texas

Had the ballot been shorter, they believe their decisions could have had more knowledgeable. I believe
that it is important to be well informed when going to vote, and it has now been brought to my
attention that the ballot will contain many positions to vote on, so I will be sure to research candidates
and show up to the voting station informed and sure of my decisions. In Texas, there are a few types of
elections held: general elections, primary elections, runoff elections and special elections. The general
election is held in November of even years statewide to fill state and national offices. The primary is
an election held within each party to choose the party s candidates for general elections. Runoff
elections are held if no candidate in the primary election receives the majority of votes. Special
elections are held outside of the regular election calendar to fill unexpected vacancies. Because Texas
holds a few types of elections, people believe Texas has too many elections, but I disagree and find
that the amount of elections held are necessary to access situations such as vacancies and allow for
voters to practice their right to vote more

Greenland Norse Collapse
The Choices Societies Make and the Challenges Surrounding Them The choices the Greenland Norse,
the people of Easter Island, and the people of Haiti made directly contributed to their societal collapse.
Their environmental fragility advanced their downfall, but ultimately their poor decision making led
to their collapse. The Greenland Norse s and people of Easter Island s incorrect choices were mostly
due to social challenges and reluctance to abandon traditions, but the incorrect choices of the Haitian
people were due to selfness and impulsiveness. The Greenland Norse are an excellent example of a
society that has collapsed because of the choices they have made, but they also serve as an example of
a society who suffered great challenges when considering these alternative solutions. In particular, the
Greenland Norse s lack of adaptability in the decision s they favored regarding hunting, livestock, the
relationship with the Inuit, and the need for European identity drove their society to a collapse. The
Norse came to Greenland with traditional hunting and livestock customs such as growing hay to feed

The Ambiguity Of Gender In The Poetry Of Robert Herrick
Robert Herrick wrote hundreds of poems about real or imagined women. It is generally conceded that
his many fresh and fragrant mistresses were purely imaginary, but understanding how he constructs
gender is vital in developing an accurate view of his poetic art. Modern criticism often depicts Herrick
as a propagandist for the received standards of his day, yet close examination of his texts reveals that
he recognized the ambiguities of gender and the inconsistencies of his era s beliefs pertaining to
women, disrupted and interrogated them, and often engaged in outright parodic critique of accepted
seventeenth century gender mores. The stance Herrick takes in relation to gender issues is rooted in
the double coding of female presence that

Running Out Of Time Literary Analysis
The two books The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum and Running Out of Time by Margaret

girls have totally different reasons as to why they are there and while they are there they are trying to

Conclusion Of A Utopia
Every modern architects is trying to achieve a dream they have never been perfectly successful society
a Utopia. The word utopia first described as fictional island society in Sir Thomas More s book Utopia
in 1516 as perfect community with a visionary system of political and society cities that function to
improve man s daily lives and free from problems. This imagination city can never exist. Yet, the
concept of utopia has influenced to the arts, especially architects. In the early 20th century, the world
was facing the destruction by World War 1. A modernist movement was beginning by Le Corbusier,
Walter Gropius, Mies van der Rohe, to name the best known among them. By bringing in new

The most important is everything has to be functional. Thus, modernists planned the urban according
to their function and purpose. Residential and commercial were always separated by zoning. Mostly
these two zone is separated by district or interlinking road. Most of them are far with each other. Each
zone has to be practical and functional on their own purpose. This is also what a Utopia aim to be.
Function is more important than everything.
Chapter 4.0 Conclusion Utopia was mean to be perfect but no utopia can ever give satisfaction to
everyone. In fact, people are demanding more and the pricier price will be pay for the satisfaction.
This is what will be happen whenever things are going same to a large number of people and
eventually humanity will be drowned. The evolution of machine might change the quality lifestyle of
human but it is reversing humanity. There are a lot of agree and disagreement about utopia. Some
agree that utopia represented the ideological of the whole society. Eventually some disagree this
statement and said utopia is impossible to success and listing out the reason of failure of utopia. In my
opinion, there is no wrong or right in utopia. Human have to learn from the wrong and making it right.
Adapt the good from utopia and learn the wrong, yet idea of Utopia has influenced outskirt city

Styles Of Leadership
In this assignment I aim to outline the advantages, disadvantages and overall effectiveness of the
different styles of leadership.
Authoritarian, or Autocratic, leaderships revolve around a single leader, and those close to them,
whose word is law and power absolute. Authoritarian leaders are confident in their ability to lead and
to take charge. This means that they should be taken seriously at all times; if a subordinate does not
take them serious they may lash out, threaten or simply punish the individual or the entire group to get
their point across. They also prioritise the task over the individual and the group
This leadership style is best suited to emergency situations when the leader is competent and confident

Democratic works well with skilled and motivated people because they want choice or the ability to
influence one; the leader also wants to hear what people have to say because they want input and new
ideas to directly improve conditions for the group.
The main negative of Democracy is that the leader cannot easily appeal to the minority without
angering the majority because they will lose more support than they gain. Not everyone has an interest
in politics or voting these people are generally happy either way or impossible to please. Another
problem is that because more people are involved with leading the country secrets could leak; this
could be personnel secrets about the leader or even military related secrets.
Democracy is like Autocracy because there is only one leader and they will make the final choice,
however a Democratic leader values the opinions of his subordinates and will choose based on that.
Decision making in a Democracy is very slow when compared to Authoritarianism because the time it
takes for a vote is time

Some students did better than others which is usual for testings. In the Aikido course I remember
when Sensei would speak about how an actual dojo has people who are determined with Aikido and
are more serious with Aikido than the regular student in the Aikido course. I could understand what
Sensei meant because I could see the determination and hard work these students have when they do
testing. They put the most effort they can when testing compared to the students in the Aikido course.
The most significant part was that after students finished their test there was encouragement to
applause, and this shows that the students admired each other in their hard work and dedication. This
applause and admiration is not that common in our Aikido course sessions because it is apparent that
people who have determination with Aikido have more enthusiasm and love for it.

Benthic Invertebrate: commonly used to provide information on the status of a water system. Having a

Introduction Through the city of Waterloo flows a stream named Laurel Creek that originates from
well north of the city, and as it flows into Silver Lake, it provides a home for many organisms both on
land and in the water. This stream has been heavily influenced by human construction, and has a
number of reservoirs along its path. As the water moves downstream towards more populated areas, it
becomes a sink for waste coming from many sources along the way. To monitor the health of Laurel
Creek, indicator species such as benthic invertebrates that reside in the water are collected to
determine the current status of the stream. The purpose of this study is to determine the best location
to collect samples of invertebrates in relationship to the stream morphology of Laurel Creek. The
results from this study could then be used on other locations suffering the same problem in Waterloo.
These areas can then be observed to determine if a solution can be found to decrease pollution,
therefore decreasing the

life of the accused individuals as a punishment for committing atrocious crimes such as murder, rape
and child abuse. Not only capital punishment is morally and ethically wrong, Capital punishment also
violates our constitutional rights, it also takes the lives of innocent people and it cost more to the
people living in the states that approve this punishment. Capital Punishment is should be abolish in all
the states of the United States of America.
Cost of Death
The majority of people would certainly agree with putting an end to this individuals lives believing
that is the right thing to do and probably would require less tax money. However, numerous studies
have been made on the matter and the results prove that the people who believe that killing accused
individuals saves money are erring. According to study conducted by Seattle University found that
since 1987 the five total cases in Washington amounted to a total bill gross to the taxpayer of 120
million dollars, around 24 million per execution. In three of the five cases the accused waived some of
his appeals reducing the total cost. Furthermore as reported by a Palm Beach Post study (2000) it was
found that the cost to execute some of Florida worst criminals the state needs

Disruptive Behaviors In The Classroom
Students will always display disruptive behaviors in classrooms. Sometimes one teacher is responsible
for twenty five students, so disruptive behaviors will surely happen. I think what is important is how
educators handle these situations. Some common disruptive behaviors for a third grade classroom are
calling out, talking, breaking the classroom rules, talking back, not focusing on the lesson, yelling, and
staying seated. The key to managing disruptive situations and maximizing learning in a third grade
classroom is good classroom management. Being an effective classroom manager is the most
important role for a teacher, and with good classroom management, a teacher can stop the disruptive
behaviors from continuing. Classroom management is difficult for early teachers. If students are not
following rules and procedures, the classroom can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the first weeks, the effective managers spend quite a bit of time teaching rules and
procedures. Some use guided practice, others use rewards to shape behavior (Woolfolk 525). By
making clear class room rules, teachers can establish procedures for rule breaking, or disruptive
behavior in class. If I saw a disruptive behavior such as a student who repeatedly calls out in my
classroom during a lesson, I would handle the situation by understanding that this student WANTS to
answer questions, they want my personal reassurance because they are answering the questions I ask,
just not how I want them to respond. I would be sure to make eye contact with them, and go over the
class room rule of not calling out, we must raise our hands . If the behavior continued and was
becoming a real problem during lessons, I would pull them aside quietly and explain to them calmly
that I appreciate their eagerness and wanting to respond to my questions, but I need them to be
respectful to the classroom rules and wait their turn to answer. I feel if you assure them that you
understand them, they may respond better to your

Persuasive Essay On Chimney Cleaning
All across Johannesburg and Pretoria, majority of homeowners depend on the heat from fireplaces to
keep their family warm during the winter season. As such, it is very important to keep the fireplace
working optimally by ensuring you have a clean chimney. Regrettably, if you do not have your
chimney cleaned it can lead to many major issues. Majority of these issues can be avoided by simply
scheduling a periodic chimney cleaning with a professional. By having your chimney cleaned, you
give it adequate air combustion, thereby resulting to clean burning fire.
How To Tell If You Need a Chimney Cleaning
The main purpose of a chimney is to allow smoke and carbon monoxide to exit your home. This will
allow you to delight in the benefits of a fire with neither of the risks. While many chimney sweeps
recommend that you have your chimney cleaned at least once in a year, sometimes it may need more
than that.
Factors like type of wood burned and how regularly you use your fireplace play a role in determining
how often your chimney should be cleaned. But that s not all, there are also some tell tale signs that let
you know when your chimney needs a cleaning. They include:
*Too much smoke filling the room once the fire is lit.
*Bad odors or a rush of cold air emitting from your chimney when you are not using your fireplace or
stove.
*Your fire not burning brightly as usual or the fire starting very slowly.
*If your chimney is filled with nests, leaves, small animals and other debris.

Essay On How To Flush Your Transmission
Time To Flush Your Transmission? 3 Signs To Look For
Everyone want their vehicle to be in good condition so that it is dependable when the are on the road.
With so many moving components, it is hard to know what trouble signs to look out for. One part that
you may be ignoring is the transmission, which actually needs the fluids to be flushed from time to
time. Here are some signs it is time to put in new transmission fluid.
The Fluid Changed Color
Chances are that you have never seen your transmission fluid. The fluid is typically a bright red color,
but it can also be yellow, blue, or green depending on who makes your fluid. What you want to watch
out for is if the fluid has changed in color. Dirty transmission fluid will have a brown tint ... Show

The gears should not be hesitating when switching between them, or slipping down into a lower gear
for a brief moment.
Dirty transmission fluid can cause various problems, such as there being a notable delay when
accelerating. The car could have problems when changing gears when you get on the freeway or when
you are accelerating quickly and the RPMs are quite high.
Ignoring these issues could cause damage to your vehicle s transmission. Avoid an expensive repair by
having the fluid flushed out at the first sign of any of these problems.
You ve Driven the Car A Lot
Much like the oil for your engine, transmission fluid also requires regular flushing based on how many
miles you have driven. Every car manufacturer will recommend changing the transmission fluid after
a specific amount of miles, which caries from vehicle to vehicle. It is common to replace transmission
fluid between 24,000 and 30,000 miles, and if you do not drive that many miles, then after 2 years.
Don t make the mistake of waiting until your transmission fails to have it looked at. Being aware of
these three problems will help keep your car running smoothly. If you ever have doubts about
something off your transmission is doing, do not hesitate to take your car to a local mechanic to have

Crafted Beer vs Mass Produced Beer
What s better, mass produced or crafted beer?
According to (http://www.brewersassociation.org/pages/business tools/craft brewing statistics/craft
brewer defined) a craft brewer is small, independent and traditional . They have to produce less than
six million barrels to be considered a craft brewery. Also from a financial point there is a difference to
a mass producing beer brewery, an alcoholic industry can only have a maximum of 25% of the
brewery. If they own more than this they are considered mass producing brewery because the
alcoholic industry is considered to own the craft brewery. Furthermore it has to have at least 50% of
its volume in either all malt beers or in beers which use adjuncts to enhance rather than lighten ...

The craft breweries on the other hand are only specialized in beers, a famous one is the Harpoon
Brewery which is located in Boston. (http://www.cnbc.com/id/39233398/page/2) ,
(http://www.nomorefreebeer.com/index.php/the facts/anheuser beer list/)
There are two main aspects why people prefer crafted beer over mass produced beer, and quality is
one of those aspects. The main reason why they differ so much is that the purpose of the factories
producing the beer is different. For craft breweries it is important to have a really good in their beers
because their customers are willing to pay more for a higher quality. They use normally better and
more expensive ingredients and pay a lot of attention to the production process. The mass produced
beers are not even known for a good quality, sure there are some more expensive ones like Corona but
most of them are not. The reason why firms don t keep the quality high is that they want it to be cheap
and everyone should be able to purchase it because the main purpose of mass produced beer is to get
the consumer drunk. That s the actual part of enjoyment you get from drinking a beer.

Understanding Bronfenbrenner s Social Ecology Model of...
Abstract A number of important sociological and psychological models track the individual across the
lifespan, exploring how different aspects of life ebb and flow in importance as an individual grows
older. Other models focus on how an individual interacts with the microcosm of their daily lives and
how this in turn affects their interaction with all of the broader cycles of their life. This paper explores
the process of grieving and healing experience by a 56 year old woman who has just lost her husband
of 30 years through the lens of Bronfenbrenner s social ecology model. This model allows for a multi
dimensional analysis of change across both time and psychosocial space. Healing after Loss Most
women will outlive their husbands or male partners. This fact arises from actuarial mathematics:
Women tend to live longer than men. The actuarial facts are exaggerated by the fact that women tend
to marry (or partner with) men who are older than they are, a trend that reflects cultural mores and
economic dictates. Thus the profile of grief described below must be acknowledged as a common one,
a fact that itself is relevant to the experience. Women know that they are likely to face a certain
number of years (even, perhaps, decades) and this foreknowledge helps mitigate the pain of the
experience, although of course it does not allow one to avoid the grief. Losses that we do not expect or
that run counter to our sense of how the world should work can be the hardest to

Analysis Of The Film Princess Mononoke
I selected the film Princess Mononoke from director Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli. The animated
film consists of the genres action, adventure, fantasy, drama, and historical. Mamoru Fujisawa, also
known professionally as Joe Hisaishi, is the sole composer of the film Princess Mononoke. The music
pinpointed the battles that would take place in the film and even introductions of some integral
characters that would have an affect on the story. The music even highlighted and enhanced the climax
of the film.
The story begins when a prince named Ashitaka had gotten cursed with pain and death on his right
forearm by a demon boar he was trying to fight with and was sent away from the village, losing his
status as a prince by cutting off his hair. On his journey, he finds two injured men and sees an injured
wolf as well as a girl who drinks the poisoned blood from the wolf s wound. He makes sure the men
are fine and goes to another town called IronTown. In IronTown, the men greet him and the women
demonstrate their job to Ashitaka and Lady Eboshi examines the cursed wound that he harbors on his
right arm which she casted on the Boar God. Unplanned, the same girl who drank the poisoned blood
attacks the village. Her name is Princess Mononoke and her other name is San. San starts a brawl with
weapons with Lady Eboshi and Ashitaka stuns both of them with his hands. Kiyo, one of Lady Eboshi
s workers, shoots Ashitaka with a gun since he hurt Lady Eboshi. Despite his circumstances, he

Photoshop in Business and Society
Businesses have countless applications for the computer software known as Photoshop. The software
is such an integrated part of society that businesses and scholarly articles assume people have prior
knowledge of what it is and what it does. Photoshop is defined by Oxford as trademarked digital
image editing software to alter photographic images. It is an industry standard for digital graphics and
has many applications to various businesses and media. Lev Manovich wrote in Inside Photoshop that
to count up the number of options in Photoshop and then count all the options each option
subsequently contains, that the total number of options the software allows for would be in the
thousands. Professionals in media, education, research, and many businesses utilize the software.
However, there is controversy surrounding the use of Photoshop in advertisements that edited models
to unrealistic levels, because of the impact those images have on society. Nonetheless, Photoshop is
widely used and has revolutionized business and integrated into many industries not limited to media
or photography. Photoshop has a brief history since it has only been around for almost three decades.
At the end of the 1980s, it was beginning to be developed as a way of procrastination by Thomas
Knoll, a University of Michigan graduate student and doctoral candidate in computer vision. Knoll
was trying to write programming code to display gray scale computer images on a black and white
bitmap monitor as

Literary Analysis of No Name Woman
A short literary analysis of Maxine Kingston s classic No Name Woman As part of the first generation
of Chinese Americans, Maxine Hong Kingston writes about her struggle to distinguish her cultural
identity through an impartial analysis of her aunt s denied existence. In No Name Woman, a chapter in
her written memoirs, Kingston analyzes the possible reasons behind her disavowed aunt s
dishonorable pregnancy and her village s subsequent raid upon her household. And with a bold
statement that shatters the family restriction to acknowledge the exiled aunt, Kingston states that, ...
[she] alone devote pages of paper to her [aunt]... With this premeditated declaration, Kingston
rebelliously breaks the family s cultural taboo to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Don t humiliate us. You wouldn t like to be forgotten as if you had never been born. The villagers are
watchful. Practically through her mother s indoctrination alone, Kingston was shaped throughout her
childhood to respect honor, family, and the very Chinese culture itself. Kingston s mother had once
told her, you must not tell anyone [about your aunt], and yet in direct defiance, Kingston then
devote[s] pages of paper to her [aunt]. Her actions which defy her mother s strict order are purposely
directed through her rebellious intention to do so. Kingston argues that the emigrant generation, which
consisted of her mother, had taken their culture with them because those in the emigrant generations
who could not reassert brute survival died young and far from home. Yet raising their progeny, they
must teach them what they know and understand. Kingston therefore believes that they must try to
confuse their offspring as well, who, I suppose, threaten them in similar ways always trying to get
things straight, always trying to name the

The Theory Of Sterilization Of Minorities By Supporting...
Throughout history, many people have consistently tried to prove that groups with inborn qualities can
either vastly improve or degenerate different races over time. This rhetoric has been proven multiple
times throughout the course of the last century in the United States and Nazi reigned Germany.
Supposedly, this rhetoric has been disproven throughout the United States; however, there are proven
accounts that the United States government has recently supported this theory of sterilization of
minorities by supporting the eugenics movement. This movement was not only practiced in Nazi
Germany, but also on United States soil. The topic of improving the genetic makeup of different races
has not only just become a common theme for many modern day countries to use to make their
societies more genetically fit. However, it has adopted the basis for current racism that is clearly
apparent in today s society. If improving genetic fitness was not a concern to past societies, then
people in general would be more open to interracial and cross cultural relationships rather than
completely disregarding the idea of dating someone that is visibly genetically different. Historically
speaking, Americans and the United States government have consistently had many issues of not
recognizing their faults towards current situations that could potentially be avoided. For example, the
War on Terror and the Black Lives Matter movement are just a few events that have impacted the
country

  • 2. Why Eugenics Is The Human Population Responsible For... Many wonder if it is ethical to use genetic information to alter natural processes of procreation to give people the best genes they can get. There are already ways to predict the presence of a genetic disease in a child based on the parents and in vivo testing. Eugenics is increasing the number of genes in the human population responsible for improving intelligence, beauty, musical ability and other traits we value (Munson, 2012 272 273) Eugenics is often confused to just be for consideration of the parents and the child. However, the definition of eugenics is reliant on the outcome for the entire human population. The two types of eugenics include positive and negative; positive eugenics is The aim of increasing the number of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He states that procreative beneficence is Couples (or single reproducers) should select the child, of the possible children they could have who is expected to have the best life, or at least as good a life as the others, based on the relevant, available information . (Savulescu 295). This definition suggests that people have a moral obligation to choose what is best for their child based on what they know. He argues that there is a way to select from a large range of possible children people could have; most commonly, this is done by using fetal selection through prenatal testing and termination of pregnancy (Savulescu 296). Technology is already in place for procreative beneficence , it just needs to be utilized properly. He is not arguing for the positive selection of traits that will correspond to those that result in a better life. When he presents the example of testing for the genetic predisposition for poor memory, he suggests that there is a positive obligation to test for memory profiles if the results of poor memory are horrible (298). Savulescu seems to support the idea of a decent life, but not the best life possible for all traits. The boundaries about what defines intelligence are still vague, but plato claims that life is a mixture of wisdom and pleasure (Savulescu 298). These factors need to be balanced, and if there is a genetic code that selects for these traits, Savulescu would likely support them being chosen. There are a few ethical problems with ... • 3. My Experience At My First Volleyball Practice It was the start of a new day, the sun was shining, and autumn had decided take over for the summer. I had just started a new sport, and my first practice was today. My gaze was fixed on the window watching the cars drive by, and then my dad popped the question. The decision that I made about this question has shaped and changed my life forever. I had woken up in feeling very gusto that day all because my first volleyball practice was supposed to start today. It was a nice cool fall morning with red, orange, and golden leaves scattered all over the ground, in the trees, and filling the air. I walked outside and felt the cool, crisp air expand around my body. My breath was thin and clear as I released each breath. Stepping into the car, my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When I rose from my deep slumber, we were halfway home and my dad was talking with my mom on the phone, so I decided that it would be amusing if I pretended that I was asleep and listened to their conversation. I deliberately realized that their conversation was about me. I gradually started to wonder what they could possibly be talking about that was so important, so I was still and listened as closely as possible. Then I heard it the only word that I didn t want to hear. Sports. I started to become anxious and fearful as I started to wonder what they wanted to do with sports, and why they were talking specifically about me. My sister did plenty of sports too. My dad hung up the phone and I finally decided that it was time to open up my eyes. When I did open them up my dad glanced over at me and said, Anna we need to talk. I knew that at that moment something wrong and terrible was about to happen. All I said was, Okay , and I braced myself for what was about to happen. He fixed his eyes on the road again, and then looked back at me with a sorrowful look on his face that made his face look contorted, this is how I knew that I wasn t going to like what he was going to say at all. He opened his mouth once, but nothing came out. He opened it the same way again, only this time the words came spilling out of his mouth. The Australian criminal justice system approaches young offenders through unique strategies to address the challenges of dealing with juvenile offending. Even though young offenders commit a higher percentage of crime compared to adults, young offenders also have the highest likelihood to be rehabilitated and change their lifestyle as they mature, resulting in a lower court appearance percentage due to the different rights children have. • 5. Outsider Outsiders I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation (Martin Luther King). GETTYSBURG ADDRESS (19 NOVEMBER 1863) [1] Fourscore and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal ( Abraham Lincoln). We meet at a time of tension between the United States and Muslims around the world tension rooted in historical forces that go beyond any current policy debate (Barack Obama). All of these are the starting point of great changes. These famous historical figures are considered Outsiders The Term Outsider Literally means One who does not belong to a particular group. Perception is the main key in deciding if someone belongs when they are an outsider. If you look at it from one group they don t belong and from another they do. One of the most famous outsiders in history is Martin Luther King. He was considered this because he decided to take a stance against what s normal and average. He wanted to have equal rights for both African Americans and Caucasians. By doing this he was considered an outsider by all people. They either stood with him or against him during his outside revolution. Although he did not like to be considered an outsider as shown by this quote Injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere. Anyone who lives in the US can never be considered an outsider anywhere in the country He was an outsider by trying to make no one feel like an outsider themselves. So throughput this he didn t belong to the groups trying not to allow equal rights. But to the people, he stood up with he was a leader and belonged to their group, therefore even if you don t feel like you belong with the group you re in, you have a network. The next outsider is Our famous 16th president Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln was considered the rail splitting candidates throughout his campaign and presidency. He was born and raised from working class roots. This set him apart from his opposing candidate William H. Seward (who was the former governor of New York and a sitting Senator. Firstly, I will give a brief timeline of the main events that took place in her lifetime. Then I will begin to compare the various aspects of her life to mine. Finally, I will draw up a conclusion. Annelies Marie Frank was born in Frankfurt, Germany, just 60 years before I was, 1929. During the first three years of her life, The Great Depression happened. The National Socialist Party began to gain support. In 1933, Hitler was made Chancellor. This was the same year that Otto Frank and his family moved to Holland. Otto Frank is the soul survivor from the annex. Anne had a fairly middle class life up until she moved to Holland. There she made new friends, but lived a lesser lifestyle. The only comparison I can think of is when I moved to middle school. I was the only one to go to Lindisfarne from my first school, it was hard at first, but I soon made new friends. Obviously moving countries is much harder than schools so I can only imagine what it would have been like for Anne. It wasn t long before her eleventh birthday, around the same time that Jews were starting to be erased from Germany. At this time, Anne had to go to an all Jewish school. This was her first experience of other people hating her because of her own religion. Anne wasn t able to speak to her friends, go to the cinema/theatre, go shopping, use a telephone or even go to the park. All of her everyday activities and rights were taken away. If this happened to me, I don t know what I would do to keep entertained. All this time spent in Holland, her father had foreseen what was happening and was planning to go into hiding. It finally happened in 1942. Anne was thirteen and had received the famous diary, her elder sister; Margot had been called in for a work camp. This was the final signal Otto needed. They moved into the secret annexe on July 6th, 1942. A week later they were joined by the Van Daan family and Mr Dussel the dentist. For two years they lived

  • 8. Disadvantages Of Child Soldiers Introduction For most of human history, war has generally been conceptualized as a domain of adults in uniform. However, in the past decades, a disturbing trend has surfaced children, both boys and girls, are increasingly taking up arms. While this is not an entirely new attribute of warfare, the use of child soldiers in history has been an exception and not a regular feature as it appears to be today. According to international law, a child soldier is defined as any individual who is aged below eighteen and part of an armed organization. A conservative estimate of the number of child combatants stands at 300,000 and this excludes the other half a million children who perform non combat duties in the army. Approximately 75 percent of armed conflict in the world involves children fighters. The worrying situation is best expressed by Peter W. Singer: Children, as young as 6 and 7 years old, are serving as combatants on every continent but Antarctica. Given these statistics, one can speculate that there may actually be underlying military advantages in using children to fight wars, and this is exploited by those who employ them. This is the premise which I base my research on. Adopting the understanding that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second video the class watched, showed video footage of the aftermath of some earthquakes that have happened in history. The video showed destruction of buildings, and how earthquakes can cause tsunamis and the destruction that tsunamis also cause. The point of this video was to show the students how important the engineering of building is, and got them to start thinking about their own bridges and how they can withstand an earthquake. We did not directly discuss bridges this week though, our focus was primarily on earthquakes. When we broke up into our teams, my team was trying to answer two specific questions; what are the effects of an earthquake? And can we build earthquake proof buildings. I worked with two boys in the class, Kendall and Sean to help answer these questions. • 11. Horseshoe Crab Essay The horseshoe crab, Limulus polyphemus The horseshoe crab, Limulus polyphemus is known as a marine chelicerate arthropod. It s from the Limulidae family and more commonly found along the northern Atlantic coast of North America. The horseshoe crab makes use of different habits depending on it s current stage of development. They lay there eggs on the coastal beaches during the late spring and summer. Once the eggs hatch, the young horseshoe crabs are found offshore, within sandy areas of tidal flats. Adult horseshoe crabs are found in deeper parts of the ocean waters (National Wildlife Federation). The lifespan of a horseshoe crab is up to 20 40 years in the wild. There structure has not changed much for the past 445 million years. • 12. Examples Of Dehumanization And Isolation In Flowers For... Dehumanization and Isolation. These are the main themes in the short story by Danielle Keyes, titled Flowers for Algernon . Flowers for Algernon is about a boy who is much less intelligent than the average person, so to make himself smarter, he undergoes an experimental surgery. But as Charlie s IQ continues to grow, he soon comes to find out that all good things must come to an end. Many say that Charlie starts out as the object of dehumanization and isolation, seeing as how his friends treat him, but many more insist that the dehumanization and isolation aren t completely developed until the middle of the story, where Charlie becomes too smart to interact with the people that gave him his newfound intelligence. These themes are often debated upon as to whether or not they become more or less relevant as the story progresses, but what most don t consider is that these themes have always appeared in Charlie s life, he was just too blind to see what was always there. In the beginning of the story, Charlie is quizzed with the Rorschach Test. The test administer tells Charlie to tell him what he sees in the ink. Since Charlie has a tendency to take things quite literally, he first tries to find actual objects in the ink. When the administrator tell him that s not quite what he means, Charlie get scared that the administrator is mad at him because he thinks he spilled the ink. This already demonstrates how dehumanized and isolated Charlie really is. Later in the story, Charlie finds out that he has been chosen to undergo the experimental procedure and happily agrees even though he really has no idea what he is getting into. This is demonstrated in the story when writes And she said Charlie your going to have a second chance. If you volenteer for this experament you mite get smart. They dont know if it will be perminint but theirs a chance. Thats why i said ok even when i was scared because she said it was an operashun (Keyes 206). It takes skills from the rider and the horse to make a good run. It takes good athletic ability from the horse and good horsemanship from the rider to take a horse safely through the barrels. The judges set up the barrels in a triangle in the center of the arena. There is normally a flagger in the ring that waves a flag when you start and waves it again when you cross the finish line. The 4D division is one and a half seconds added to the fastest time of the whole event. There are some rules in barrel racing. Number one is the fastest time wins. The rider and horse aren t judged on anything but that. If the rider and horse run past a barrel and get out of the pattern, they get a no time score or they get disqualified. If the racer or her horse knocks a barrel over, they get a five second penalty which normally gives them a time that is to slow to win or place. There is a sixty second time limit to complete the course. The barrels have to be fifty five gallons, they have to be metal, and they have to be at least two colors. Most competitions also require the rider to wear a long sleeve western shirt that is tucked in, western cut pants or jeans, a western hat, and western boots. The contestant has to be dressed like this one hour before the event. There is also special tack that is used for barrel racing. Bits are one thing. There isn t any rule that says what type of bit you have to use but there are bits that are more common to riders than others. The type of bit used is determined by the riders based on the horses needs. Bits with longer shanks cause the horse to stop faster and bits with shorter shanks are used for more lateral work. • 17. The United States Should Have More Power Essay States should have more power The United States today uses a federal system of government where power is shared between the national government and the state government. Through the use of fiscal federalism, the national government tries to influence the policies of the states through the use of grants. This leads to cooperative federalism, where the local, state, and federal government share the expense of programs and projects. Sometimes the federal government makes the states take action without providing the sufficient funds. When that happens, it is called an unfunded mandate. We need to have more devolution in the United States. That is when the federal government gives more power to the states to make and change policies. The federal ... Those regulations targeted coal fired power plants, the cost of energy went up significantly for all Americans but especially Utahns. The increase expense of energy has put more strain on the family, individuals, and businesses will destroy jobs and strain economic growth. All these consequences have been for nothing. No matter what you believe on the subject of man made greenhouse emissions, the regulations will have a negligible impact if any on global temperatures. If the states would have more power over the regulation of emissions, it would lead to an economic growth not only in the nation but especially in Utah. Having more power on the state level is sometimes not even enough. For example Salt Lake County has a very high concentration of emission. Utah county has significantly less emission being released into the atmosphere. But we are taxed the same amount as they are. Whether Soldiers desire to join the military for the pay, job security or answering the call to serve their country, these desires have become increasingly obsolete in today s Army because of budget cuts. The Army will begin to lose quality Soldiers due to continued pay cuts to military pay, basic allowance for housing and changes to retirement plans. On March 2014, presented to Congress was a 495.6 billion dollar budget for the Department of Defense (DOD). This newly presented budget is a 400 million dollar cut from the previous fiscal year (FY) (October 1, 2014). This budget will create a smaller; yet, agile force that can still rapidly support the United States of America at any time. The budget will stand for continued advancements in protection and applied research to help ensure future competitive advantages for the United States of America. With that said, where would the 400 million dollar DOD budget cuts be made? According to the United States Department of Defense Budget Request of Fiscal Year 2015 (DOD BR15) (2014), in order to continue to build a readily available force to support the country s needs, budget cuts are needed and will be made at the expense of the Soldiers. There was no such thing as privacy in Manzanar; a luxury taken for granted in today s society was unknown to those who had to survive in Manzanar. All men and women shared toilets as well as showers and lived in barracks with 200 400 other people in them. Each room had about four people and was furnished with nothing but an oil stove, light bulb, cots, blankets, and mattresses filled with straw. The living conditions were inhumane, with no privacy shacks that were so poorly constructed they could barely hold together. The original reason I chose it was because the author is actually my uncle. Turns out it was a great choice as I greatly enjoyed reading this novel. The book is from the perspective of Jewish a teenage boy and his family during the 1930s in Nazi Germany. I gained new perspective on the culture in germany during world war two through the eyes of a teenager. I would definitely recommend this book to the history department to be added to the curriculum. The main reason for this recommendation is that students will be able to learn about the culture in Germany right before World War II from the perspective of someone their age. This will give students a more entertaining look at the history around World War II and will make learning about it much easier. I recommend this book specifically to a freshman or sophomore history class. The protagonist in the story is a teenage boy named Karl that many freshman and sophomore students could identify with. He goes through many of the same challenges that many younger teenager go through. He struggles fitting in socially at school and has girl problems. This novel was very easy to read and did not have too much difficult vocab. The book is also fast pace, which makes reading it particularly smooth. The students will also be able to really see what it was like to live in Nazi germany in the 30s from the perspective of someone their age. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. The Invention Of The Gas Turbine Essay The modern gas turbine was born from two early fields of technology: the steam turbine and the internal combustion engine. [1] In 1678, Ferdinand Verbiest designed a horseless carriage that relied on an early steam jet for power and propulsion, this is thought to be the first self propelled automobile in history. Eventually, inventors attempted to create an alternative to the steam engine and the idea of the gas turbine was born. While the claim to inventing the gas turbine has never truly been resolved, it can be traced back to as early as the late 1700s. Over the next century and a half many pioneers have attempted to solve the challenge of the early gas turbine in order to create a power source that could compete with steam turbines of the day. In truth, the invention of the modern day industrial gas turbine can be contributed to the combined works of many inventors. It is nearly impossible to talk about the history of the modern gas turbine without first mentioning the late history of the steam turbine. The industrial revolution was born through the invention of energy conversion devices that could be used to replace the natural power sources such as wind and water movement. In 1712, Newcomen created the first functional steam engine. Despite the fact that it was allowing people to break away from the dependence on wind and water power, this engine had low efficiency compared to the previous power sources. James Watt improved this with the addition of a condenser ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first place of observation was a nudist village in Clearwater, Florida by the name of Paradise Country Club. Men and women walk around with as little amount of clothing on as one desires. Most people walking around are totally nude and people carry on their usual routines like this. The first thing I noticed was that the males had no apparent sexual attraction to the females. Physically the males were relaxed and their penises were not in an erected form. There was no staring, awkward looks or sexual gestures. Everyone who had chosen to be nude was totally comfortable around each other. Dennis Kirkpatrick, a nudist who maintains the rec.nude FAQ s website, claims that #8230;For hundreds of years, people have assumed a connection between nudity and sex after all, the only time many people are nude, other than while bathing, is during sex. Naturists reject this assumption. Nudity does not automatically lead to sex and, incidentally, you can have sex with your clothes on. The two are quite simply not related #8230; One individual who accompanied me too this site, person L, had been here many times and also quite comfortable there. If I saw a disruptive behavior such as a student who repeatedly calls out in my classroom during a lesson, I would handle the situation by understanding that this student WANTS to answer questions, they want my personal reassurance because they are answering the questions I ask, just not how I want them to respond. I would be sure to make eye contact with them, and go over the class room rule of not calling out, we must raise our hands . • 46. Understanding Bronfenbrenner s Social Ecology Model of... Abstract A number of important sociological and psychological models track the individual across the lifespan, exploring how different aspects of life ebb and flow in importance as an individual grows older. Other models focus on how an individual interacts with the microcosm of their daily lives and how this in turn affects their interaction with all of the broader cycles of their life. This paper explores the process of grieving and healing experience by a 56 year old woman who has just lost her husband of 30 years through the lens of Bronfenbrenner s social ecology model. This model allows for a multi dimensional analysis of change across both time and psychosocial space. Healing after Loss Most women will outlive their husbands or male partners. This fact arises from actuarial mathematics: Women tend to live longer than men. The actuarial facts are exaggerated by the fact that women tend to marry (or partner with) men who are older than they are, a trend that reflects cultural mores and economic dictates. Thus the profile of grief described below must be acknowledged as a common one, a fact that itself is relevant to the experience. Women know that they are likely to face a certain number of years (even, perhaps, decades) and this foreknowledge helps mitigate the pain of the experience, although of course it does not allow one to avoid the grief. Losses that we do not expect or that run counter to our sense of how the world should work can be the hardest to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The animated film consists of the genres action, adventure, fantasy, drama, and historical. Mamoru Fujisawa, also known professionally as Joe Hisaishi, is the sole composer of the film Princess Mononoke. The music pinpointed the battles that would take place in the film and even introductions of some integral characters that would have an affect on the story. The music even highlighted and enhanced the climax of the film. The story begins when a prince named Ashitaka had gotten cursed with pain and death on his right forearm by a demon boar he was trying to fight with and was sent away from the village, losing his status as a prince by cutting off his hair. The software is such an integrated part of society that businesses and scholarly articles assume people have prior knowledge of what it is and what it does. Photoshop is defined by Oxford as trademarked digital image editing software to alter photographic images. It is an industry standard for digital graphics and has many applications to various businesses and media. Lev Manovich wrote in Inside Photoshop that to count up the number of options in Photoshop and then count all the options each option subsequently contains, that the total number of options the software allows for would be in the thousands. Professionals in media, education, research, and many businesses utilize the software. However, there is controversy surrounding the use of Photoshop in advertisements that edited models to unrealistic levels, because of the impact those images have on society. Throughout history, many people have consistently tried to prove that groups with inborn qualities can either vastly improve or degenerate different races over time. This rhetoric has been proven multiple times throughout the course of the last century in the United States and Nazi reigned Germany. Supposedly, this rhetoric has been disproven throughout the United States; however, there are proven accounts that the United States government has recently supported this theory of sterilization of minorities by supporting the eugenics movement. This movement was not only practiced in Nazi Germany, but also on United States soil. The topic of improving the genetic makeup of different races has not only just become a common theme for many modern day countries to use to make their societies more genetically fit. However, it has adopted the basis for current racism that is clearly apparent in today s society. If improving genetic fitness was not a concern to past societies, then people in general would be more open to interracial and cross cultural relationships rather than completely disregarding the idea of dating someone that is visibly genetically different. Historically speaking, Americans and the United States government have consistently had many issues of not recognizing their faults towards current situations that could potentially be avoided.
