This document outlines the steps to create a cartoon image in Photoshop, including outlining features on separate layers, adding color layers for hair, face, lips, and eyes, and removing the original image to leave only the cartoon. The conclusion notes that while this pop art-style cartoon was a useful experiment, an alternative style may better suit an indie/folk genre poster and album packaging.

1. Cartoon creation experiment for

2. Step 1
 To begin, I placed
my image into
photoshop

3. Step 2
 Then I began to outline
his main features
- His eyes, nose, mouth,
eyebrows, hair, neck etc,
 I made sure I did this on
a separate layer and
made sure to fill the
eyebrows in
 I outline the features then
right clicked and selected
stroke path.

4. Step 3
 Then on another new
layer I added in the
colours for his hair and
for his face.

5. Step 4 and 5
 Then I added two more
layers one on which I
added lip colour and on
the other I added eye
colour.

6. Final step
 Then I removed the
image of Josh
Hutcherson which was
underneath and was left
with this cartoon of him.

7. Conclusion
 Making this cartoon has given me an idea on the
different styles of cartoons we could use, this
cartoon is however more suitable to the pop genre
and we are considering using a different style, none
the less it was good and helpful to experiment with
different styles so we can achieve the best design on
our poster and digipak that will be suited to our
genre indie/folk/
