Career Path Research Paper
The Degree Path I am pursuing is a Doctorate of Education. My area of specialization is Higher
Education Leadership and Management. The topic and educational issue that I am passionate about
is career and college readiness. I want to be the apparatus that changes this situation for my students.
Affording my students the opportunity to succeed is my personal goal. Professionally, the goal is to
provide an organization with the expertise to assist colleagues and all stakeholders with the task of
career and college preparation of students.
My professional goal is to fulfill my dream of becoming a college president at a Historically Black
College or University (HBCU). To begin in goal planning, there are two strategies of importance.

Right now, I can collaborate with my colleagues, students, parents and community to create a school
culture and climate that will raise test scores and improve current curriculum. Addressing this issue
of career and college readiness at least in my school first. Using scholarly articles, researching best
practices and implementing change where needed and permissible. Social change can take place
now. The sooner the better.
The Ed.D degree is aligned to my current profession. I can apply educational theory to the issues in
secondary education as well. I am aspiring to enter into higher education. However, secondary
education is the bridge into higher education.
In the Higher Education Case Study Document two, Prepare the American Workforce to Compete in
the Global Economy, the challenge is American education is not producing qualified applicants for
professional training. "There are 3.3 million job openings in the U.S., many going unfilled for
months on end. The gap between employer needs and workforce skill is starkest in the critical areas
of STEM education" (Walden, 2015). With this crisis in American education, there has to be a
resolution and then a solution to thoroughly prepare our students to become career and college

Student And Graduate Level Writing
Scholarly Writing One of the major distinctions between student and graduate–level writing is the
targeted audience. This not only includes a difference in the number of intended recipients but also
involves an increasing level of intercepting personalities, an assortment of personalities whom can
all offer a plethora of varying opinions, ideas, or concerns. Likewise, the student's responsibility is
amplified when writing at the graduate level, since he or she must contribute originality while
continuing to bring forth meaningful and engaging work. Academic writing is often embedded with
the expectations and goals of developing the skills and confidence of students working towards
achieving graduate–level writing. Essentially, this could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This word, important, almost sounds like an understatement, but it truly is important since citing and
crediting are morally and ethically required. "According to the Merriam–Webster online dictionary,
to "Plagiarize" means: To steal and pass off (the ideas of words of another) as one's own To use
(another production) without crediting the source To commit literary theft To present as new and
original an idea or product derived from an existing source In other words, plagiarism is an act of
fraud. It involves both stealing someone else's work and lying about it afterward." (WriteCheck,
2014) One reason for using APA style in research papers is that it allows readers to understand the
context of the reference, since APA is more than a style of writing but rather a standard type of guide
by the American Psychological Association (APA). By keeping to this standard format, writers and
readers can more easily refer to a specific document, sentence, or even an idea, with little to no
room for miscommunication, misunderstandings, or errors. A key reason for using an APA style of
writing is two–fold, in that, it can help to determine the originality or plagiaristic nature of a person's
work, as well as, provide you/your audience with the information necessary to find the source and
acknowledges that certain material has been borrowed – thus, avoiding plagiarism. References

Inner City Theory Application Essay
My goal in wanting to receive my Doctorate of Philosophy in Psychology from Northcentral
University is a result from my experience of growing up in the inner city area of Miami, Florida.
The experience of inner city life has driven me to want to pursue the maximum level of education to
provide substantiated information and knowledge that can save the lives of our generation. Inner
cities are plagued by crime, drugs, and poverty. I believe the more education I receive the closer I
am to becoming a "living testimony". Receiving my Doctorate of Philosophy in Psychology moves
me closer to successfully providing scientific research in changing the thought process of
individuals that may feel restricted from becoming successful. [Add own personal ... Show more

The mind works the same; you have to know that you can get through even the day, just like you
know the sun will bring another day. Determined to help you secure the day, you gain the
determination to secure the next. Each step, each breath, each second, and each minute the mind is
determined to hold on to hope of tolerating what you are faced with. Those thoughts are not
necessarily certain, but determination fuels hope, this hope is driven by faith, belief, thankfulness
and spirituality to a certain degree. Spirituality is a part of life. Regardless of the view one has there
is a belief system associated with spirituality. Spirituality is the feeling of believing in a power that
holds the system together. This system is a warm and comfortable feeling that you may feel through
each step, each breath, each second, and each minute throughout your day. That feeling of warmth
and comfortability is the acceptance of self. Acceptance is not just being socially accepted, either by
race, gender, sexuality, religion, financial stability, marital status, outer appearance (attire, hairstyle,
body and facial features), or the measures of trials and misfortune in one's life. The ability to
mentally accept yourself means to be determined, to know that your journey in life is great and
optimistic without comparison to

Student Perceptions of the Educational Doctorate Program at Lindenwood University As a student
in the Educational Doctorate (EdD) program, I had the unique opportunity to assist in the
development and analysis of a qualitative method study designed to investigate the doctoral student
experience at Lindenwood University (LU). Even though my primary role in the study was as
principle investigator, I also was part of the eight doctoral students currently enrolled in Qualitative

the study with "little to no predetermined theory, structure, or framework" (Burnard, Gill, Stewart,

"Scary." To overcome those feelings, the students in the doctoral program turn to classmates and
professors for guidance. For example, a student commented, "I am finding out about opportunities
that can help me with my research in side conversations between students or from professors during
classes." In addition to recognizing the importance of rigor and relevance of coursework topics, the
faculty of the EdD program at LU, also place a high value on cultivating personal relationships with
their students. One student shared, "[The faculty] are willing to modify lessons based on the needs
of the students in the class" and her classmate commented, "When I first started I had emergency

Boptany Importance Of Science
"Botany, the science of the vegetable kingdom, is one of the most attractive, most useful, and most
extensive departments of human knowledge. It is, above every other, the science of beauty," stated
Joseph Paxton, a gardener and member of the British Parliament in the nineteenth century (Paxton
1).Why is botany such a enjoyable profession? The many activities you can attend such as growing
and trimming are both easy ways to make money ,but take a lot of responsibility. As one prepares
for a future in the field of Biology, one must consider the historical background, the educational
requirements, the work environment, the duties and responsibilities, wages and benefits, and the
potential for advancement of Botany.
Botany began near the Neolithic Period but wasn't scientifically studied until the 1700's. During the
Neolithic Period they had the knowledge of farming and soon began growing their own crops. Fruits
and vegetables have been an important part of social development since the beginning of time. In
Ancient Greece and Rome philosophers urged more learning in sciences, they began learning more
about plants. The philosopher Theophrastus was known as "'The Father of Botany' because of two
seminal works that were used for the next 1500 years and survive today" (Mason). "For the next
1500 years, there would be little development and most botanical studies were limited to places of
learning such as universities and monasteries" (Mason). The history of Botany is very diverse

My Love Of History
History has been my constant and my comfort for my entire life. My mother always encouraged my
love of history, telling me stories about King Henry VIII, the War of the Roses, reading me the little
house book, or buying me all the books I wanted on the simple subject all throughout my childhood.
It has become my love and my passion and whether or not I become a history professor, I will
without a doubt go into the field of history. I might do archaeology and combine both my love of
history, and my joy of bones and dead people. I would have to study Anthropology to become that
though and whilst I do enjoy that, I worry I will become too invested into that field and become a
simple doctor. I know I would be happy to teach the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

At the end of my career, when I've lived my full life, I'll have to start thinking about retirement and
all of my options. Bring a professor would let me continue to have a job well into my late years.

Sex Therapist Career Assignment
I. Introduction The occupation that I have selected for my Career assignment was a Sex Therapist. I
am a senior here at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse and my career goal is to become a Sex
Therapist in the future. How I got interested in this occupation is that I knew that I wanted to help
people in some way, so I started taking thinking and taking career quizzes. I grew up in a family that
was very comfortable and open with one another that I found talking about taboo subjects does not
make me comfortable and I find those taboo subjects interesting. So, I changed my major to
Psychology major which will help me prepare for my field because I am going into a clinical field
that deals with diagnosing people on their behavior. Studying psychology is all about the mind's
functions and how it affects behavior. In the following paragraphs I will explain in–depth of
background knowledge and the educational requirements for pursuing a career as a Sex Therapist.
Also, proving information about the salary, competitiveness, type of job locations, and expectations.
For this assignment I interviewed Jill O'Brien who is a Physical Therapist that works at Gunderson
and runs her own clinic who specializes in Pelvic Health. This is not the exact career that I want, but
her a career of interest is something similar to what I will be working with future patients' about in
the future. I could not job shadow a Sex Therapist due to confidentiality reasons. These are the
topics I will be

My Primary Responsibility Of The Coaching, Practice, And...
My primary responsibility is faculty and staff development. In my first year, I developed our
Coaching, Practice, and Reflection (CPR) program for new faculty. This program helps new faculty
transition, focus on their teaching and begin developing relationships with potential mentors. This
program also runs in conjunction with the services provided by Center for Teaching and Learning at
the university. During the development of our latest strategic plan for the college, colleagues and I
moved faculty and staff development from a function within my position to one of the five strategic
priorities for 2013–2018. At this time, we are creating a faculty and staff development model that
identifies four distinct developmental milestones over the first 10 years of a hire's transition from
novice to expert while continuously enhancing student learning. As a leader in the college, I feel it is
a professional responsibility to discover opportunities for improvement as well as unleash the talent
of our faculty and staff directly resulting in a healthier student experience.
My involvement in higher education would not be complete without my experiences as an
instructor. For the past four years, I have taught Evaluation Strategies for Nursing Education in the
MSN Nurse Educator option. This online course provides students the opportunity to learn
evaluation concepts, including testing and measurement in nursing education at the didactic,
clinical, and programmatic levels.

Why I Want To Pursue A Doctoral Degree
One of my life time goals has been to earn a doctoral degree and have been working towards that
goal since graduating high school. My life experiences and personality has lead up to this moment
and am more than ready to face the challenges continuing my education brings. I have been known
for my voracious appetite for reading and learning new topics. Also, I am a very strong–willed,
sometimes even obstinate, which has helped me overcome challenges in my academic career.
Moreover, I am a humanist in the philosophical sense that I want my legacy of doing some good in

During my masters program, I was hit with life–altering events that would have deterred anyone. I

program. I may not have done it within the traditional two–year timeline, but I persisted. The best
lesson I learned from this is that becoming an authority in a particular field is a marathon, not a race.
I understand that learning about public policy and law at the doctoral level is going to take time and
determination. I have had friends go into doctoral programs only to fail not because they lacked
knowledge of the material, but because they became distracted or burnt out. I know how much
workload I can handle and am determined to see this to the end. It is because of my willfulness and

Liberal Arts College or University: offers a university education combining natural and social
sciences as well as humanistic studies. The term "college" is often used where undergraduate study
is concerned. The college may be part of a university which also has graduate and professional
schools, or it may be an independent institution offering a Bachelor's degree program, with little if
any instruction at the graduate level. (Thus Harvard College is the undergraduate division of
Harvard University; Vassar College, Amherst College and Sarah Lawrence College are examples of
independent colleges, also called liberal arts colleges). The academic status of an independent liberal
arts college may be just as high as a college which is part of a university. Fine Arts and Music are

Doctoral Identity
Introduction
Many studies have been conducted that research the doctoral journey and what should be
accomplished throughout the program– both by the student and by the institution. This paper
presents a review of three empirical studies on the topics related to doctoral identity including:
student identity and program development to ensure students are prepared for life after the program
as either and educator or an expert in the field of his or her choice.
The first article, titled "Socialization of Doctoral Students to Academic Norms" (Weidman and

an educator or researcher role. This study builds on the previous work completed by Weidman.

The authors questioned if these relationships developed and students' experiences led to the
formation of the students' doctoral identity.
In the third article, "Critical Thinking in Distance Education and Traditional Education" (Visser,
Visser, and Schlosser, 2003), the authors questioned whether university faculty were meeting their
obligation to promote critical thinking in doctoral programs. The authors also sought to find
methods for fostering a critical thinking environment for distance learners.
All three articles focus on the doctoral journey and the importance of creating a program that assists
the doctoral student in finding their identity as a researcher or educator in their field. The third
article examines critical thinking and its importance to the doctoral program. The common theme
centers on the development of a doctoral program that meets faculty and student

Study Design: Review Objective: To conduct a scoping review, and to determine trends and
characteristics of spine research published by The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery (JBJS) from
2005 to 2015. Method: A PubMed search of all studies published in JBJS from 2005 to 2015 was
performed using the keyword "spine". A similar search was conducted on the JBJS website from
2005 to 2015 using the keyword "spine". The study by Gartsman et al (2005) was used as the main
reference for this study. Results: Studies were more likely to be of a higher level of evidence (Level
I or II) (53.57%) than of a lower level of evidence (Level III or IV). Level–I, II, and III studies
(21.43%) had a higher likelihood of having an author with an advanced degree in addition to a
medical degree than Level–IV studies (2.86%). Studies with three or more authors (97.14%) were
more common than studies with only one or two authors (2.86%). There were more positive studies
(53.93%) than non–positive studies (negative studies= 16.85%; neutral studies= 29.22%).
Conclusion: The study shows improvement in trends of spine research published by JBJS over the
past decade, which suggests an acknowledgement in the development of research techniques and

Companies fitting a certain archetype have benefitted from greater financial success and have been
able to build more dominant global brands relative to brand with less defined, if not "confused"
archetypes.
The purpose of this exploration is to examine the origins of archetypes and their relevance in the
context of global branding. In doing so, the paper will present literature that supports the importance
of archetypes and imprints in consumers' perceptions and global branding, as well as the benefits––
both financially and competitively –– to companies that utilize them. By its conclusion the
discussion attempts to build an argument substantiating the importance of "archetype consciousness"
in global branding in order to gain a competitive advantage beyond product attributes or pricing and
distribution strategies..

Choosing a Major: Accounting at ULM Essay
The One That Does It All When choosing a major there are many options to choose from and many
variables that can affect your decision. When looking at ULM's list of majors the first one
alphabetically would be accounting. Everyone knows that is not a way to predetermine a major, but
it is a coincidence that accounting is a very sound major. Accounting is for anyone with a business
mind who likes to be around figures mainly dealing with money. Accounting can be fastidious at
times, but with hard work very rewarding. The accounting major, part of the business college at

All the professors have at least one professional degree in accounting. Jordan Baugh, a sophomore
accounting major at ULM says, "The professors are extremely magnificent. They know what they're
talking about. They are very good at understanding. They teach and make sure you understand,
instead of just putting up powerpoints or whatever." He goes on to tell how they are willing to work
one on one and get everyone involved to give their students the competitive edge in the workforce.
Several classes can also be taken online. There are also minors here at ULM that are closely related
to accounting. One example of this is Computer Information Systems (CIS). CIS is the technological
part of accounting which is the information system of business. Jordan Baugh also highly stressed,
"Always take an accounting major over a general business major. The opportunities and options
from a business major are much narrower." The strengths of ULM's accounting major can be
summed up as high quality, many in–demand opportunities, high job placement rate, faculty/student
relationship, and great alumni relations (McEacharn). The greatest part of being an accounting major
is the opportunities after graduation. If a CPA is obtained, a greater salary will follow, and the
possibility of your own business. If a regular accountant is the route taken, only a bachelor's degree
is needed. The typical workday of an accountant primarily involves bookkeeping. They keep track

Sensory Processing: A Case Study
Background
Born in the year 1920, Jean Ayres grew up on a walnut farm in Visalia, California, to a family of
teachers (website). Visalia is a city located in the middle of California, and supports a population
over one hundred thousand people. Following in her parent's footsteps, at the age of twenty–five,
Ayres attended University of Southern California, and received a Bachelor's degree in Occupational
Therapy (Britannca). A few years later, she went back to school and received a Masters degree in
occupational therapy, and later a PhD in educational psychology, all from the University of Southern

Sensory Integration The article, Understanding Ayres Sensory Integration states, " Sensory
Processing is a generic term used to describe the way in which sensation is detected, transduced, and
transmitted through the nervous system" (Smith, Mailloux, Miller–Kuhaneck, & Glennon, 2007).
Ayres spent a majority of her career working with patients one on one, and the sensory intregration
theory stemmed from her work with children living with Cerebral Palsy, and learning disorders
(Brittanca, 2015). Sensory integration disorder has two different components. First, a person may
over respond to a stimulus, which can cause extreme discomfort from a simple object, such as a tag
on the back of a shirt. In contrast, a person with sensory integration disorder may under respond to a
stimulus. An under response in the nervous system is very dangerous because, it can cause a person
to not feel pain even in severe hot, or cold temperatures. From her research, Aryres constructed

How is a Ph. D. Different from a Doctor of Business Administration?
One way to comprehensively evaluate the differences of a Doctor of Philosophy from a Doctor of
Business of Philosophy is to understand some overlapping facts of their backgrounds. Therefore, let
us briefly compare a few of the basics, starting with the titles. Just as the Doctor of Philosophy can
be abbreviated, the Doctor of Business of Philosophy is also often seen abbreviated, but instead, as
DBA, D.B.A., DrBA, or Dr.B.A.. The PhD and DBA embrace programs which support and direct
intellectuals to develop creatively–advanced research, leading to a defensive dissertation. Or, in
other words, they are "generally designed to prepare students for academic careers, either in
teaching or research or both." (DBA vs. PhD in Business Administrations Programs, n.d.) One major
difference between PhD and DBA is that a DBA "is a research doctorate awarded on the basis of
advanced study and research in the field of business administration. (Research of Doctorate
Degrees, 2012) In addition, the Ph.D "is highly focused on developing theoretical knowledge",
while the D.B.A. "emphasizes applied research" (Research of Doctorate Degrees, 2012) More

My Career As A Sex Therapist Essay
The occupation that I have chosen for this assignment is a Sex Therapist. I am a senior at the
University of Wisconsin– La Crosse and my career goal is to become a Sex Therapist, for the future.
How I got interested in this occupation is that I knew that I wanted to help people in some way, but I
didn't exactly know how I was going go about that. I grew up in a family environment that talked
about sex very openly. Which today, has made me feel comfortable taking about sex and I have
found that sexual topics are interesting to learn about. I changed my major to Psychology, which
will help me prepare for my career, because I plan to work in a clinical setting that deals with
diagnosing people based on their behaviors. Studying psychology is all about the mind's functions
and how it affects behavior. In the following paragraphs I will explain in–depth of background
knowledge and the educational requirements for pursuing a career as a Sex Therapist. Also,
providing information about the salary, competitiveness, type of job locations, and expectations. For
this assignment I interviewed Jill O'Brien, who is a Physical Therapist that works at Gundersen and
runs her own clinic that specializes in Pelvic Health. This is not the exact career that I want, but her
specialized interest is something similar to the type pf clients I could work with in the future. I could
not job shadow a Sex Therapist, due to confidentiality reasons. These are the topics I will be

Is Getting A College Degree For Thousands Of Dollars?
In this day in age many people ask the question, "Is getting a college degree for thousands of dollars
really worth it?" Many people say yes and many people say no; my opinion: yes, it is. In Learning
by Degrees, The Well–to–Do Get Less So and the Teenagers Feel the Crunch, and Education Pays
but Perhaps Less Than You Thought the authors explain and make good points at answering that
question. In Learning by Degrees the author talks about how the odds of getting a satisfying job in

four years. Rebecca Mead, the author of Learning by Degrees, spoke with Professor Vedder from the

growing up I have heard from many family members and friends that if I am going to go to college I
need to go for something that will make me enough money to pay back all of the debt I am going to
obtain while perusing the degree. My mother always told me to be smart when picking my major; to
choose something like Engineering or a major in the scientific field, you can imagine her face when
I told her I wanted to major in Sociology and Criminal Justice. For weeks, even months, all I heard
was "What are you going to do with that?" or "Did you know sociology is one of he most wasted
degree's in the world?" I could answer her first question, I told her I wanted to be a correctional
councilor at a state prison, still my main goal today. Surprisingly I also knew the answer to her
second question, yes I know that sociology is a very much wasted degree; actually, according to
thesimpledollar.com, sociology is voted the fifth out of ten for the most wasted bachelor's degrees in
2015. This website also says that employment opportunities are slim. Knowing this, I still chose to
choose sociology as my major because I believe that I can make it something more than it is said to

The Responsibilities of Athletic Trainers
Athletic trainers have a variety of responsibilities included in their job description. They provide
clinical diagnosis, rehabilitation therapy, and emergency care (CITE). Athletic trainers are often
confused with personal trainers, because most people associate both careers with athletes. However,
athletic trainers work in the field of physical medicine unlike personal trainers. For the most part,
athletic trainers must have people skills and an overall enjoyment of helping others. Since they treat
a wide range of patients, athletic trainers must be able to relate to all types of people. They must
have an expert knowledge of the human anatomy and also be able to think in a cause and effect
manner when diagnosing injuries.
Career Opportunities
There are a lot of job opportunities available as an athletic trainer depending on the area of the field
the individual wants to work in. Many athletic trainers want to work with sports teams at the high
school, collegiate and professional level. Athletic trainers are a necessity in all sports, making their
skill set a high demand. The employment projection for athletic trainers shows an increase in the
next ten years of over 6% (CITE). There is not a strong regional difference in job opportunities for
athletic trainers. Their skills are needed in every part of the country where athletic competition is
taking place.
Salary Ranges Paragraph In the past three years, athletic training has risen in nearly every category
(Lowe 2011).

The Importance Of Education In Psychology
For a clinical or counseling psychology career track, one must first earn a bachelor's degree. As
Landrum and Davis explain, "it is best to think of your undergraduate education in psychology as
learning about psychology, not learning to do psychology" (2014, p. 13). One should think of a
bachelor's degree as a solid foundation or stepping stone to furthering experience, knowledge, and
skills. At the bachelor's level, one will learn social and personal skills that employers want. The
preparational influences of psychology enhance "specialized and general knowledge and skills"
(Landrum and Davis, 2014, p. 13). Keep in mind the difference between undergraduate education
and the professional function of a psychologist. Landrum and Davis clarify the difference by stating
"undergraduate education in psychology prepare you to be a citizen and a critical thinker; while the
professional functioning of a psychologist comes after specialized work and training at the graduate
level" (2014, p. 13).
Clinical and counseling psychology are often used interchangeably, but there are key differences.
Clinical psychologists "concentrate on understanding psychological symptoms, distress, and
disorders, with the goal of developing and providing interventions that treat these conditions"
(Helms and Rogers, 2015, p. 219). While counseling psychologists "concentrate on understanding
human adjustment with the goal of developing and providing interventions that return patients to

My Family And Its Impact On Children 's Growth And...
Introduction
Parents and family provides a significantly direct impact on their children through learning and
development of the child's social competence. In the case where parents find themselves actively
involved in their child's growth and development, the same child has the ability of achieving the best
results, exhibiting positive attitudes, and demonstrate values and behaviors that propel success. For
early childhood providers, the need to reach out to parents and families with the aim of building the
kind of relationships that are paramount in engaging them as active partners in early education is
significant. The assertions made by the National Dropout Prevention Center/Network support this
idea. Therefore, the focus of this narrative puts emphasis on my family's contribution towards the
economy of my native country.
However, before delving much into the topic of my family and its economic contribution to the
country, it is significant to identify the importance of the family in shaping my journey to this

I had a pastor tell me, if I was going to fulfill the call on my life, I needed to go back to school and
earn a theological degree. Honestly, I did not think about his advice very much. I already had a

2004, I had the car wreck and my life changed forever this side of Heaven. By 2009, I had
physically healed enough to consider degree seeking. Kevin and I made the decision to embark upon
the journey of obtaining a Master's Degree at Emmanuel Christian Seminary. Over the course of the
last seven years, I have earned two master's degrees and on June 26, 2016 I will graduate with my
second doctorate degree. I have attended four separate schools for my graduate degrees. There was
no way for any human to predict in 2003 what tribulations my family was going to face, but God
knew. However, the pastor who advised me concerning theological degrees had given me the perfect
advice for this season of our life. I earned my Master of Biblical Studies, Master of Religious

surgery. Now, I will graduate with my PhD in Theology after my second brain surgery. Going back

Career Path Research Paper

  • 1. Career Path Research Paper The Degree Path I am pursuing is a Doctorate of Education. My area of specialization is Higher Education Leadership and Management. The topic and educational issue that I am passionate about is career and college readiness. I want to be the apparatus that changes this situation for my students. Affording my students the opportunity to succeed is my personal goal. Professionally, the goal is to provide an organization with the expertise to assist colleagues and all stakeholders with the task of career and college preparation of students. My professional goal is to fulfill my dream of becoming a college president at a Historically Black College or University (HBCU). To begin in goal planning, there are two strategies of importance. Right now, I can collaborate with my colleagues, students, parents and community to create a school culture and climate that will raise test scores and improve current curriculum. Addressing this issue of career and college readiness at least in my school first. Using scholarly articles, researching best practices and implementing change where needed and permissible. Social change can take place now. The sooner the better. The Ed.D degree is aligned to my current profession. I can apply educational theory to the issues in secondary education as well. I am aspiring to enter into higher education. However, secondary education is the bridge into higher education. In the Higher Education Case Study Document two, Prepare the American Workforce to Compete in the Global Economy, the challenge is American education is not producing qualified applicants for professional training. "There are 3.3 million job openings in the U.S., many going unfilled for months on end. The gap between employer needs and workforce skill is starkest in the critical areas of STEM education" (Walden, 2015). With this crisis in American education, there has to be a resolution and then a solution to thoroughly prepare our students to become career and college ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Student And Graduate Level Writing Scholarly Writing One of the major distinctions between student and graduate–level writing is the targeted audience. This not only includes a difference in the number of intended recipients but also involves an increasing level of intercepting personalities, an assortment of personalities whom can all offer a plethora of varying opinions, ideas, or concerns. Likewise, the student's responsibility is amplified when writing at the graduate level, since he or she must contribute originality while continuing to bring forth meaningful and engaging work. Academic writing is often embedded with the expectations and goals of developing the skills and confidence of students working towards achieving graduate–level writing. Essentially, this could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This word, important, almost sounds like an understatement, but it truly is important since citing and crediting are morally and ethically required. "According to the Merriam–Webster online dictionary, to "Plagiarize" means: To steal and pass off (the ideas of words of another) as one's own To use (another production) without crediting the source To commit literary theft To present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source In other words, plagiarism is an act of fraud. It involves both stealing someone else's work and lying about it afterward." (WriteCheck, 2014) One reason for using APA style in research papers is that it allows readers to understand the context of the reference, since APA is more than a style of writing but rather a standard type of guide by the American Psychological Association (APA). By keeping to this standard format, writers and readers can more easily refer to a specific document, sentence, or even an idea, with little to no room for miscommunication, misunderstandings, or errors. A key reason for using an APA style of writing is two–fold, in that, it can help to determine the originality or plagiaristic nature of a person's work, as well as, provide you/your audience with the information necessary to find the source and acknowledges that certain material has been borrowed – thus, avoiding plagiarism. • 9. Inner City Theory Application Essay My goal in wanting to receive my Doctorate of Philosophy in Psychology from Northcentral University is a result from my experience of growing up in the inner city area of Miami, Florida. The experience of inner city life has driven me to want to pursue the maximum level of education to provide substantiated information and knowledge that can save the lives of our generation. Inner cities are plagued by crime, drugs, and poverty. I believe the more education I receive the closer I am to becoming a "living testimony". Receiving my Doctorate of Philosophy in Psychology moves me closer to successfully providing scientific research in changing the thought process of individuals that may feel restricted from becoming successful. Determined to help you secure the day, you gain the determination to secure the next. Each step, each breath, each second, and each minute the mind is determined to hold on to hope of tolerating what you are faced with. Those thoughts are not necessarily certain, but determination fuels hope, this hope is driven by faith, belief, thankfulness and spirituality to a certain degree. Spirituality is a part of life. Regardless of the view one has there is a belief system associated with spirituality. Spirituality is the feeling of believing in a power that holds the system together. This system is a warm and comfortable feeling that you may feel through each step, each breath, each second, and each minute throughout your day. That feeling of warmth and comfortability is the acceptance of self. Acceptance is not just being socially accepted, either by race, gender, sexuality, religion, financial stability, marital status, outer appearance (attire, hairstyle, body and facial features), or the measures of trials and misfortune in one's life. The ability to mentally accept yourself means to be determined, to know that your journey in life is great and optimistic without comparison to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Student Response Paper Student Perceptions of the Educational Doctorate Program at Lindenwood University As a student in the Educational Doctorate (EdD) program, I had the unique opportunity to assist in the development and analysis of a qualitative method study designed to investigate the doctoral student experience at Lindenwood University (LU). Even though my primary role in the study was as principle investigator, I also was part of the eight doctoral students currently enrolled in Qualitative Methods who participated in the study. An inductive approach was applied to the data collected from the study with "little to no predetermined theory, structure, or framework" (Burnard, Gill, Stewart, Treasure, & Chadwick, 2008). Her classmate responded, "There are inconsistencies" and sometimes the course work is "Scary." To overcome those feelings, the students in the doctoral program turn to classmates and professors for guidance. For example, a student commented, "I am finding out about opportunities that can help me with my research in side conversations between students or from professors during classes." In addition to recognizing the importance of rigor and relevance of coursework topics, the faculty of the EdD program at LU, also place a high value on cultivating personal relationships with their students. One student shared, "[The faculty] are willing to modify lessons based on the needs of the students in the class" and her classmate commented, "When I first started I had emergency surgery and was out for 8 weeks. • 17. Boptany Importance Of Science "Botany, the science of the vegetable kingdom, is one of the most attractive, most useful, and most extensive departments of human knowledge. It is, above every other, the science of beauty," stated Joseph Paxton, a gardener and member of the British Parliament in the nineteenth century (Paxton 1).Why is botany such a enjoyable profession? The many activities you can attend such as growing and trimming are both easy ways to make money ,but take a lot of responsibility. As one prepares for a future in the field of Biology, one must consider the historical background, the educational requirements, the work environment, the duties and responsibilities, wages and benefits, and the potential for advancement of Botany. Botany began near the Neolithic Period but wasn't scientifically studied until the 1700's. During the Neolithic Period they had the knowledge of farming and soon began growing their own crops. Fruits and vegetables have been an important part of social development since the beginning of time. In Ancient Greece and Rome philosophers urged more learning in sciences, they began learning more about plants. The philosopher Theophrastus was known as "'The Father of Botany' because of two seminal works that were used for the next 1500 years and survive today" (Mason). "For the next 1500 years, there would be little development and most botanical studies were limited to places of learning such as universities and monasteries" (Mason). My mother always encouraged my love of history, telling me stories about King Henry VIII, the War of the Roses, reading me the little house book, or buying me all the books I wanted on the simple subject all throughout my childhood. It has become my love and my passion and whether or not I become a history professor, I will without a doubt go into the field of history. I might do archaeology and combine both my love of history, and my joy of bones and dead people. • 25. Sex Therapist Career Assignment I. Introduction The occupation that I have selected for my Career assignment was a Sex Therapist. I am a senior here at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse and my career goal is to become a Sex Therapist in the future. How I got interested in this occupation is that I knew that I wanted to help people in some way, so I started taking thinking and taking career quizzes. I grew up in a family that was very comfortable and open with one another that I found talking about taboo subjects does not make me comfortable and I find those taboo subjects interesting. So, I changed my major to Psychology major which will help me prepare for my field because I am going into a clinical field that deals with diagnosing people on their behavior. Studying psychology is all about the mind's functions and how it affects behavior. In the following paragraphs I will explain in–depth of background knowledge and the educational requirements for pursuing a career as a Sex Therapist. Also, proving information about the salary, competitiveness, type of job locations, and expectations. For this assignment I interviewed Jill O'Brien who is a Physical Therapist that works at Gunderson and runs her own clinic who specializes in Pelvic Health. This is not the exact career that I want, but her a career of interest is something similar to what I will be working with future patients' about in the future. • 41. My Primary Responsibility Of The Coaching, Practice, And... My primary responsibility is faculty and staff development. In my first year, I developed our Coaching, Practice, and Reflection (CPR) program for new faculty. This program helps new faculty transition, focus on their teaching and begin developing relationships with potential mentors. This program also runs in conjunction with the services provided by Center for Teaching and Learning at the university. During the development of our latest strategic plan for the college, colleagues and I moved faculty and staff development from a function within my position to one of the five strategic priorities for 2013–2018. At this time, we are creating a faculty and staff development model that identifies four distinct developmental milestones over the first 10 years of a hire's transition from novice to expert while continuously enhancing student learning. As a leader in the college, I feel it is a professional responsibility to discover opportunities for improvement as well as unleash the talent of our faculty and staff directly resulting in a healthier student experience. My involvement in higher education would not be complete without my experiences as an instructor. For the past four years, I have taught Evaluation Strategies for Nursing Education in the MSN Nurse Educator option. My life experiences and personality has lead up to this moment and am more than ready to face the challenges continuing my education brings. I have been known for my voracious appetite for reading and learning new topics. Also, I am a very strong–willed, sometimes even obstinate, which has helped me overcome challenges in my academic career. Moreover, I am a humanist in the philosophical sense that I want my legacy of doing some good in the world. These three characteristics are necessary for going through the rigors of a doctoral program, and I have learned through various life experiences that the best doctoral program for me is in the field of Public Administration concentrating on Law and Public ... By refusing to be emotionally overwrought and family saying that I should take a break, I was able to complete my program. I may not have done it within the traditional two–year timeline, but I persisted. The best lesson I learned from this is that becoming an authority in a particular field is a marathon, not a race. I understand that learning about public policy and law at the doctoral level is going to take time and determination. I have had friends go into doctoral programs only to fail not because they lacked knowledge of the material, but because they became distracted or burnt out. I know how much workload I can handle and am determined to see this to the end. (Thus Harvard College is the undergraduate division of Harvard University; Vassar College, Amherst College and Sarah Lawrence College are examples of independent colleges, also called liberal arts colleges). The academic status of an independent liberal arts college may be just as high as a college which is part of a university. The Journal Of Bone & Joint Surgery Study Design: Review Objective: To conduct a scoping review, and to determine trends and characteristics of spine research published by The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery (JBJS) from 2005 to 2015. Method: A PubMed search of all studies published in JBJS from 2005 to 2015 was performed using the keyword "spine". A similar search was conducted on the JBJS website from 2005 to 2015 using the keyword "spine". The study by Gartsman et al (2005) was used as the main reference for this study. Results: Studies were more likely to be of a higher level of evidence (Level I or II) (53.57%) than of a lower level of evidence (Level III or IV). Level–I, II, and III studies (21.43%) had a higher likelihood of having an author with an advanced degree in addition to a medical degree than Level–IV studies (2.86%). Studies with three or more authors (97.14%) were more common than studies with only one or two authors (2.86%). There were more positive studies (53.93%) than non–positive studies (negative studies= 16.85%; neutral studies= 29.22%). Conclusion: The study shows improvement in trends of spine research published by JBJS over the past decade, which suggests an acknowledgement in the development of research techniques and methods. In doing so, the paper will present literature that supports the importance of archetypes and imprints in consumers' perceptions and global branding, as well as the benefits–– both financially and competitively –– to companies that utilize them. By its conclusion the discussion attempts to build an argument substantiating the importance of "archetype consciousness" in global branding in order to gain a competitive advantage beyond product attributes or pricing and distribution strategies.. When looking at ULM's list of majors the first one alphabetically would be accounting. Accounting is for anyone with a business mind who likes to be around figures mainly dealing with money. Accounting can be fastidious at times, but with hard work very rewarding. He goes on to tell how they are willing to work one on one and get everyone involved to give their students the competitive edge in the workforce. Several classes can also be taken online. There are also minors here at ULM that are closely related to accounting. One example of this is Computer Information Systems (CIS). CIS is the technological part of accounting which is the information system of business. Jordan Baugh also highly stressed, "Always take an accounting major over a general business major. The opportunities and options from a business major are much narrower." The strengths of ULM's accounting major can be summed up as high quality, many in–demand opportunities, high job placement rate, faculty/student relationship, and great alumni relations (McEacharn). The greatest part of being an accounting major is the opportunities after graduation. If a CPA is obtained, a greater salary will follow, and the possibility of your own business. While counseling psychologists "concentrate on understanding human adjustment with the goal of developing and providing interventions that return patients to their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
