Abstract In this laboratory session, I determined the concentration of p xylene and m xylene in two
unknown samples, using o xylene as an internal standard. The analysis was done using Fourier
Transform Infrared spectrometry. The peak wavelengths of the three isomers were determined, and
standard curves were constructed from the ratio of the absorbance of the characteristic peaks. The ratio
of the concentrations was determined from the Least Square fitting of the data.

polymerized to obtain parylene or as a starting point to the synthesis of polyethylene terephthalate,

By doing this assignment, I learnt to analyse, evaluate, and apply business theories and concepts to
business decision making. Meanwhile, I also learn to effectively communicate information and
arguments mainly in written form.
I have chosen three companies that had undergone managerial decision. They are Tesco, Coca cola
and last but not the least AIA ING.
Tesco s managerial decision is under Human Resource Management, Coca cola is under Marketing
Management and AIA ING is under Operation Management.

he creates a sense of injustice and anger towards the perceived death of his father. Housman, on the
other hand, has a more serene outlook on the event even though it still depicts sadness.
The metaphors used in Thomas poem show his resistance and rage on accepting his father s death.

vote. South Carolina had threatened to secede from the Union if Lincoln won the election. The state
made good their threat by seceding from the Union on December 20, 1860. Mississippi and Florida
followed in early January, 1861. The Alabama State Legislature directed Governor A. B. Moore to call
a state convention in Montgomery on January 7, 1861, to debate the question of secession from the
Union. On January 11, after four days of hot debate, an ordinance of secession was adopted by a vote

I argue that Charlie is wrong in this thinking. The notion that he is raising is exactly the type of selfish
and closed minded way of thinking that sets back the progress in solving the issue of poverty and
homelessness in America. In fact, a study taken in 2015 gathered that with more interaction and
willingness to help the homeless, the more empathy and compassion is gained for them, later resulting
in a larger contribution from society creating a social change. I obtained this information based on a
survey taken by Lindsay Phillips, a physiologist, that took it upon herself to ask working,
undergraduate college students to describe their perceptions of homelessness, willingness to get
involved, and ideas towards a solution. In this survey it is found that a good majority of people do see

The novel Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes is an excellent written novel that has deep meaning
to it. The novel is about a 32 year old man named Charlie Gordon who is mentally disabled, and he
goes through a medical procedure which enhances his knowledge. Throughout the novel, all Charlie
wants to be is normal. Charlie just wants to fit in, have friends, and make his parents proud. Charlie is
the first person ever to go through this surgery so he is going through a journey that only he has
experienced. In the novel, Charlie s operation is based off of a similar operation that was performed on
a mouse called Algernon and the things that happen to Algernon usually end up happening to Charlie.
As Charlie s intelligence increases he goes through struggles that affect his relationships and his views
on life. Charlie experiences and remembers things that have happened previously in his life and his
ultimate goal is to learn his past. At the end of the novel Charlie starts to lose his intelligence which
results in his ultimate demise. Depending on the situation, ignorance is bliss, however, there are other
