My Desire To Become A Nurse Anesthetist
Reflection #1
I decided to attend college because I ve always wanted to help people. As I grew older my desire to
help others lead me in a lucid career path. I wanted to become a doctor. I knew I wanted to become
a doctor, but I wasn t aware of how such of a complex career it would be. I realized that it would
take years of education, training and experience. Nevertheless, this was something I was
determined to do and complete successfully. So I worked hard in school. Occasionally I got a bit
side tracked, but with the help of my grandparents I recovered quickly. I also wanted to break the
cycle in my immediate family. By being the first person in my immediate family to attend college.
My grandmother died approximately 3 weeks before I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The job field(s) I m choosing to pursue are jobs that are consistent. Meaning there is always a
constant need of them, they are a necessity in our economy. Based on the information I learned
in this class, I consider it to be useful to my knowledge. By this class being an for your
experience course. It gives me knowledge on college and on my surroundings. It strengthens my
knowledge about areas I wasn t familiar with about college, which would benefit me
tremendously. One thing I learned was how do I view my surroundings as political? This helps me
see my world in a different perspective. Which would help me view things from many different
perspectives. Which could be used as an advantage in the future. This course would help me
achieve better understanding in my American Government class. Which is very similar to my
this course. I believe everything in this class is beneficial to me. My next four years in college, I
hope are filled with knowledge, experience, joy, and field periods. I believe this is the antidote
for a successful college experience. Which would benefit me if these things existed over the next
four years; in order for me to feel as if I ve gotten my moneys worth and not just

Freedom Riders Thesis
I want to pursue my graduate studies on history at Cal State Los Angeles. I gained an interest in
history as a career. I m going to become one of the children from my family to pursue this
endeavor. I see history as important information which teaches to not repeat past errors for society
in the 21st century. Furthermore I want to see what jobs I can do in my current condition, after
being diagnosed for multiple schelrosis and asperger s syndrome.
I m very committed on finishing the paper work; in fact I was successful on completing my thesis
about Freedom Riders at the Univeristy of La Verne. Although I couldn t finish this thesis without
Dr. Sayles because said he told me that the Freedom Riders actually started with James Farmer
because he created the Freedom of Reconciliation, which protested bus segregation on upper
southern states buses; later this civil rights group turned into the Freedom Riders which protested
segregation in the Deep South s buses. It was very important for me to finished this because it
helped me graduate from the University of La Verne.
Second, I m curious about what historical information I can discover on United States history; at
the same time I don t want to be mislead by information that isn t true. For example sources such as

The Trump Wall Controversy
The 2016 presidential election has created much controversy as both parties were viciously
attacking each other throughout the campaign season; one of the initiatives that the Republican
Party was the wanting to pursue was the building of a wall that will border the United States and
Mexico. Although the source of this money is unaware, Trump s plan is make the country of Mexico
to pay for it as it stretches nearly two thousands miles long and has a great expense (Drew).
This action that Trump wishes to put into place is negative to outlook on the United States and
draws a question of how could the people of America vote for someone that wants to segregate the
United States from another race. Throughout election season many people were shocked ... Show

In fact, Stew Magnuson an author and journalist explains the drastically long period of time that
it will take for a hardship like this The Trump Wall will never be completed as envisioned before
the new president leaves office even if he were to win a second term. In fact, it s a safe bet to
say a nearly 2,000 mile long wall on the U.S. border with Mexico is a pipe dream as the workers
to put on this wall to make it happen in less than 8 years it would cost even more to the budget of
1.2 billion dollars to buy materials for this enormous wall (Magnuson). As President Trump
claims it will take at least a year to accomplish this wall, it is believed that it will take longer than
possible a decade of work (Moller). With the preparation, the workers, and the funding to make
this project set into play, will still take over a decades of work; in fact, it took the Chinese 2,000
years to build the great wall (Griffiths). Although, the executive order is signed for the building of
the wall, still many disagree on its intentions to fix a not as important problem in society today.
Many do not agree according to a poll by the Washingtonpost that states Washington Post ABC
News poll: Sixty percent of adults oppose building a wall along the U.S. Mexico border, while 37
percent support it. Of these respondents, 47 percent are strongly against it. It is worth noting that
76 percent of Trump voters support it, while 91 percent of Hillary Clinton voters don t. But what
the January poll also found is that even among those who supported neither of the candidates, the
consensus (69 percent vs. 27 percent) is against building the wall and even though the

Home Building Industry
Home Building Industry How does the home building industry affected by the economy? This is
what we will be exploring in the paper. There are different areas within the industry that can be
affected. First we will look at supply and demand. Then continue to the positive and negative
externalities, and how wages inequality is measured. Then finally, we will look at the monetary and
fiscal policies that affect the housing industry. With the information we will have a better
understanding of how the home buildingindustry is affected. When looking at prices within an
industry, we need to first look at the supply and demand. For home builders this market has been
fluctuating for awhile. The gross domestic product (GDP) is one of the... Show more content on

the prices. In this report, it show them the supply and demand of new homes in down. So
companies are trying to get rid of the inventory they have before building more. The externalities
within the industry are ever changing. The changes all depends on the buyers needs, if it positive
or negative. As the demand lower for building new homes so does the demand for labor. Final the
government rules and the distribution of permits are a factor. All the factors from the economy
affect the housing industry. Furthermore it affects what we paid of houses in our area.

The Human Genome
The human genome is a vast sequence of nucleic acids consisting of adenine, thymine, guanine,
and cytosine which are connected into a long polymer by a sugar phosphate backbone. The
entirety of the genome is approximately 3 billion base pairs which encodes for all functional
proteins and RNA molecules needed for life. Remarkably, only a small fraction of the genome
actually constitute genes; about 15% of the genome are genes or gene related sequences, while
85% of the genome is noncoding (Krawczak and Schmidtke, 1994). Of the noncoding region there
are specific regions that vary highly between individual people. These regions are polymorphic, or
in other words have many different forms. Some loci vary so much that it is rare to find... Show

The amount each sequence is repeated varies between individuals and the specific nucleotide
pattern can differ as well (Krawczak and Schmidtke, 1994). However, high quantities of DNA were
needed to acquire accurate results when comparing VNTR regions. Therefore short tandem
repeats (STRs), or microsatellites, proved to be better suited for use in forensic analysis. STRs
are similar to VNTRs in that they are portions of the noncoding DNA that contain various
amounts of repeated units. But in regards to VNTRs, STRs have a much shorter repetitive
sequence, usually between 2 to 6 nucleotides, but sometimes can be up to 10 base pairs (Figure
1). The small size of STRs in comparison to VNTRs allows for more efficient amplification of
the DNA via PCR and enables scientists to use DNA that has been more significantly degraded.
Forensic analysts compare 13 different STR locations plus one that determines gender of the
obtained sample (Roewer, 2013). STRs vary highly between individuals; for example, one person
could have an STR at a specific locus encoding the following: CGCGCGCGCGCG, whereas
another person could have CGCG at the same locus.
In these tandemly repeated units, there is a higher extent for variation between these sequences
than found in gene sequences due to the organism being more tolerant to aberrations in these
portions of the genome. Therefore these areas will have many different forms, sometimes as many
as 2000. Thus if several

Compare And Contrast Autumn And Winter
Both autumn and winter are special times of year.
Whether you call it autumn, fall, that one season after summer with the cool leaves, or anything
else, it has place in all our hearts. Winter may be disliked by some for the harsh weather and cold
atmosphere, but I love all winter has to offer.
I love late fall and early winter because of the holidays and the traditions they bring, the soft snow,
and winter break.
Holidays are times full of family, games, and celebration. They re designed to be fun and
memorable experiences to commemorate different concepts, and they certainly do it well.
October 31st is a time of the spooky and kooky, people of all ages decorating their homes, inside
and out. Anyone and everyone can decorate in any way they please. Whether cartoony, gory,
realistic or outlandish, there s a way to spice up your residence for everyone.
Pumpkin carving is long held practice, people once upon a time adorning gourds and turnips too.
With new technology, it s easy to utilize dry ice, projectors, and sound effects for maximum impact,
but it s always nice to return to simple homemade decorations.
When you think of Halloween, you probably think of trick or treating. Putting on a costume is a
thrill like no other! The classics will always have a special place in my heart, but there are
recourses to dress up as anything. Outlandish or understated, trick or treating holds a special place
in my heart.

Competitive Advantage Of Amazon
Amazon throughout the years has expanded their facilities throughout the U.S and growing at a
rapid pace in rest of the world in the past five years. Amazon was able to develop business in the
Midwest as well as in the Southern State. One of their main focus is to build many headquarters
and facilities around the world mostly near large populated cities because it can be easier and
quicker to distribute them. Based on Amazon s Fulfillment Center Network it is mentioned that
the largest amazon s fulfillment center is located in 6835 West Buckeye Road, Phoenix, Arizona.
The size of the facility is 1,009,400 square feet 2. Some of the large cities that is located near the
facility are Mesa, Tucson, Chandler, Glendale, and Scottsdale. One of the main reason why
Amazon plan to build more facilities in Arizona is the fact that it is a highly competitive corporate
headquarters for many business and is in the top five largest cities in the United State. Moreover, in
the past years technology has penetrated industries and without no doubt in couple year s
automation would be replacing humans as it is seen as a competitive advantage. Even though,
automation is setting the standards for many businesses and a highly competitive factor in today s
industries, there are many advantages of automation taking over the workforce as well as
disadvantages. It is used to complete a task faster, cheaper, and with a greater accuracy. The first
advantage is that with automation is the reduction

Ku Klux Klan Impact
The Ku Klux Klan not only played a part in the history of civil rights but also made quite an
impact on our society. Some negative impacts that have occurred included inflicted violence and
large numbers of deaths within the African American community. Many families and friends
suffered and mourned for their loved ones who died unrighteous and sorrowful deaths. Despite
the darkness of the impacts, there was still a ray of light. For example, when the KKK
emphasized and kept racial segregation/discrimination for a long time, it actually became a wake
up call for more passionate and confident civil right activists. This caused the opposing force s
desire to stop racial segregation become stronger and more motivated. As time went by, many more

The Maccabean Revolt and the Hasmonean Dynasty (167 63 BC) The Maccabean revolt started
in 167 B.C. by the leadership of Mattathias family, that is the Hasmonean Period (167 63 BC) ,
his sons Judah , Jonathan , and Simon began a military campaign ,initially with disastrous results:
one thousand Jewish men, women, and children were killed by Seleucid troops because they
refused to fight, even in self defense, on the Sabbath. In 164 BC, Judah captured Jerusalem and
the Temple in Jerusalem was freed and reconsecrated. The Maccabean revolt, like the events that
led up to it, intensified Jew Gentile hatred to a degree not typically found in Old Testament times.
This enmity, with its accompanying Jewish nationalism. Maccabees (166 135 BC). The guerillas
defeated the Syrian army and liberated Jerusalem. The victory became memorialized in the Feast
of Hanukkah or the Feast of Lights. Hanukkah, the holiday that celebrates Judean independence,
was tamed in later years by focusing on its purely religious aspects.  A hereditary priesthood
was formed which became known as the Hasmoneans. Political power was passed on to the priests.

Sociological Imagination The Act Of Drinking Tea
Word Count:
1. By using sociological imagination, the act of drinking tea can be interpreted in more ways than
just the basic interpretation of simply ingesting a beverage. For example, the gathering of people
to meet for tea is a social outcome of the act of drinking tea. Also, the act of tea drinking can be for
the purpose of maintaining health as tea is typically a healthy beverage. Lastly, tea drinking and
producing was used in many cultures as a sort of ritual. In Asian cultures a tea ceremony was
practiced to promote harmony. Sociology applies in my life in that its research explains many of
my questions about the people in this world as well as their actions. For example, I might wonder
why someone would commit suicide or perhaps ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We have to imagine the perceptions of other concerning ourselves because unless that person or
people tell us how they feel about us, we will have no way to determine their true feelings. We
imagine these perceptions in a variety of ways. For example, by interpreting nonverbal
communication we can develop an idea as how people perceive us.
7. Our self concepts are affected by the thoughts of others more greatly than we may think. How
others think of us is reflected in how they treat us. A major example of this is bullying. For
example, the bullies view the victim as weaker or lesser than themselves and as a result the victim
is left with a feeling of worthlessness or having no purpose. This changes the self concept of the
victim because now they may be closed off and quiet when perhaps before they were outspoken
and sociable.
8. The looking glass self has a crucial impact on children. This is because as they are going
through the developmental stages of self, children will be very conscious of those around them
and how those people view them. For example, if a parent is constantly yelling, even if it is not
always directed at the child, the child would most likely feel that the parent is angry with them.
This is turn will cause the child to feel like a problem; therefore, affecting their self concept making
the child feel unworthy or

Analysis Of Mulk Raj Anand s The Feminine Sensibility
INTRODUCTION Mulk Raj Anand is a prominent figure in Indian writing for his delineation of
the lives of the poor castes in traditional Indian culture and society and his depiction of Indian
women. His personal experiences and the changes in Indian political, social and cultural institutions
forms his works.
Anand is more intrigued in life than in art, and in art only in so far as it serves life. He considers
truly humanistic art is commensurate with the needs of our times. (Anand, 1946) Anand s
humanism is more expanded, more complex and one might acknowledge that he had sources in his
mother s spirituality and in these early experiences it grew in an environment, both in Imperial India
and in Britain, that was finally determining of its form. Anand has a tendency to view women as
having more interiorness, more affectability, than men and attributes the best in writers such as
D.H Lawrence and E.M. Foster to what he has referred to as the feminine sensibility . Sympathetic
to the notable predicament of women and anxious to see them rise up out of the oppression under
which they have suffered so long, Anand has respected women s efforts on their own behalf.
According to him, the whole revolt of women in the world, is an assertion of the feminine principle,
which men have neglected, ignored and suppressed. Now once woman is able to win her liberation,
I feel that the equal but different situation of man and woman will become far more congenial.
People will

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Stress Fractures
A break in a bone that is caused by repetitive and/or intense exercise and prolonged pressure on the
bone is known as a stress fracture. Stress fractures may pass through the entire bone (complete) or
partially break (incomplete).
SYMPTOMS
Inflammation at the fracture site.
Bleeding (uncommon).
Bruising (uncommon).
Pain and tenderness over the fracture site.
Weakness and inability to bear weight on the injured extremity.
Paleness and deformity (sometimes).
CAUSES
Stress fractures are the result of repetitive micro trauma of a bone. The bone is injured at a greater
rate than it can be healed by the body. This causes the bone to become weak and susceptible to
fracture. Stress fractures typically follow changes in:
Training or performance schedule.
Equipment.
Intensity of activity.
Women who no longer have their periods are more prone to stress fractures.
RISK INCREASES WITH:
Previous stress fracture.
Certain sports associated with specific fractures:
в—‹ Leg: running, soccer, swimming, ballet, basketball.
в—‹ Foot: running, walking, marching, swimming, soccer, ballet.
в—‹ Heel bone: basketball, volleyball.
в—‹ Thigh: running, basketball, jumping.

Menstrual Taboos On Children s Mental And Physical Health
Menstrual Taboos
In general, menstruation is not seen as an appropriate topic of conversation. People are often
uncomfortable with the very idea of it, and some are even ignorant of its function. Numerous
religions and cultures regard a woman s monthly period as impure, unclean, or even dangerous.
The practices and views resulting from these widespread beliefs can be harmful to women s mental
and physical health, as well as their livelihood and relationships with others. The purpose of this
paper is to examine menstrual taboos in various cultures and throughout history, compare the views
of believers of these ideas with those skeptic of them, and apply this issue to psychology.

When impregnation does not occur, the endometrium, along with blood and vaginal discharge,
leaves the uterus through the vagina, and the cycle repeats itself (Hyde DeLamater, 2014).
Nothing of this process indicates any toxicity in women, or any effect on them outside of the
physical. It is a monthly biological cycle that occurs in fertile women to prepare for the possibility
of conception, and any negative view towards it or the women experiencing it has its source in
ignorance, fear, or in the words of books written thousands of years before anyone even had an
inkling of how menstruation works.
History
Without knowing the reason why menstruation occurs, it is a scary idea; a woman, uninjured,
begins to bleed for days from the area of childbirth and intercourse every month. It would be easy
to relate this occurrence, to something mystical and powerful. The vagina itself has been a thing
of mystery, with some cultures considering it to be a channel to the beyond; babies are born
through it, and without knowledge of how they develop, some believed that newborns simply
came from another plane of existence (Magli, 2009, p. 91). The belief that a woman s body holds
a portal to some other world makes it frightening and possibly dangerous, and many traditions have
manifested in an attempt to control this supposed power, such as infibulation (cutting the labia so
when the tissue heals, it creates a barrier over the vaginal opening) and separation of women

Throughout our country s history, there have been very few generations that have been alive during
a time in which our country is not at war. One of the most common wars the United States was a
part of was World War II. This war was fought from 1939 until 1945, regarding the acts of certain
countries such as Germany, Italy, and Japan. These countries were violating human rights by
placing innocent individuals, that they considered to be weak, into concentration camps. Humans
of today s society should be required to learn about the conditions of concentration camps, the

typically can run from 16 to 18 inches long and about 7 inches wide (www.unmuseum.org). Bigfoot
is a hairy creature that appears half man and half ape have existed in various parts of the world for
many centuries. Bigfoot is also known as Abnuaaya, Abominable Snowman, Albasty, Alma,
Almasty, Annapurna Footprints, Bekk Bokk, Boardman and Tasker Tracks, Cryptid,

The animal s very name came from the size of the footprints it leaves behind. Some tracks have
toes that have five toes, but then there other tracks that have two, three, four or even six toes.
Not all prints found are footprints. In September 2000, a team of investigators from the Bigfoot
Field Research Organization found a Bigfoot body print and also they have got sounds from
Bigfoot that sound like grunts, howls, and growls (www.csicop.org). In February, a group of
Colorado researchers claimed they found scientific evidence to confirm Bigfoot s existence.
Researcher Dave Paulides says his research group collected hundreds of DNA samples from
Bigfoot, mostly from Northern California s redwoods, and said the creature is a human
subspecies. Bigfoot s legend has evolved over the years cause there are more sightings of
Bigfoot and more evidence on what it is and where it has come from. Bigfoot is an odd
unexplained creature that we have no idea of but we have a lot of hard evidence that points to
something. As you can see of how many names he has there s a lot of people who has seen this big
hairy ape like creature. Theirs evidence that points to human hybrids. So maybe the evolution of
Bigfoot has evolved a lot and we don t see it, because since theirs no actual Bigfoot right in front of
them people tend to think he is fake, but with all the eye witness accounts out there it points to

Migration Problems for Puerto Ricans
Puerto Rico is a Spanish speaking region made up of one big island and a few smaller islands in
the Caribbean Sea. It belongs to the U.S as an unincorporated territory. It was a place where the
country s constitution does not apply by default. Puerto Ricans are considered Americans. If you
are automatically born in Puerto Rico, you are automatically a U.S citizen. They use U.S passports
to travel internationally. Some people are inclined to view the Puerto Rican experience as a
historical repetition of earlier migrations to the United States. However, the migration experience
of Puerto Ricans to the United States is more complex, as well as one of a kind. Similarities do
exist between the migration of Puerto Ricans and that of other groups, however, no other ethnic
group has shared the tribulations of the Puerto Rican population. Their experience is different from
that of anyone else.
When Puerto Ricans migrated to the United States they did it in two major waves. The first wave
of emigration occurred in the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century. The second wave
occurred from the 1940s to the present. The workings of Bernando Vega and Jose Cruz deal with
the different generations of Puerto Ricans that these two waves brought to the United States. While
Vega discusses the early emigration of Puerto Ricans to New York City
, Cruz discusses the later
emigration of Puerto Ricans to Connecticut. Each author describes a different Puerto Rican

Propaganda In The War
Americans have been carried through life by the use of propaganda since mere existence. The
most widespread use of propaganda is through a war. World War 1 proves this between the
United States and other countries. As the United States tried to remain neutral to the thought of
war, American Journalists appealed to Britain s technique of propaganda in joining sides. This
interest outset a war with Germany and the Triple Alliance, World War 1. In the early 1900s as
the United States tried to keep neutral and isolated from other countries ideas, Americans in the
nation displayed an influence in public opinion. For example, American Journalist George Creel,
began the Kansas City Independent. He was the head of the Committee of Public Information in
1917, created by President Woodrow Wilson. The Committee was responsible for raising
American support for the war effort ( War, Journalism, and Propaganda ). This agency proved that
even President Wilson used propaganda to support war efforts. Another example is Peggy Hall
who became the first woman accredited female war correspondent after she survived submarine
infested waters to report on the Western Front during World War 1. ( War,

Lastly, Recorded sound and Motion pictures were used as propaganda. As the war s influence on
the world increased, the music industry churned into a steady stream of war related songs. For
example, the popular genre of American music which arose in the late 19th Century was Tin Pan
Alley (Encyclopedia Britannica). This genre was made to meet the demand; to provoke
apprehensive Americans to support the war effort, and also for recreational purposes. Motion
Pictures such as The Kaiser, Beast of Berlin and The Prussian Cur effectively revealed the influence
on public opinion provoking Americans to want to begin war with

Essay about Alfred Hitchcock s film Psycho
Alfred Hitchcock s film Psycho
Psycho, by Alfred Hitchcock, was shocking for its time. Made in the 1960 s when film censorship
was very tight to today s standards, Hitchcock pushed the limits of what could be shown and did
with psycho things that had never been done before. The cinematic art, symbolism and sub
conscious images in this film were brilliant for the time and still are now. Realised for this, psycho
has been copied in many ways and the things that made it great have become very clichГ©d.
From the very first scene in psycho, it is clear that the viewer will be sucked into the world of
Marion Crane and Norman Bates. The opening shot is an aerial shot from the sky, pausing
momentarily and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Taxidermy is a very big part of the film, it hints to the ending, creates a scary atmosphere,
describes Norman s character and is used before something evil happens. The stuffed birds prey
down on Norman and seem to haunt him (as his mother does).
They mirror the way the dark, gloomy, gothic house watches over the hotel and also how Mother
psychologically watches over Norman, this creates suspense as the audience wonder how he will
use the tension he is building up.
Another example is when Arbogaust gets killed and when Norman is taking his mother downstairs,
we watch over this scene from the top corner, as the birds do in Norman s office this implies that
Norman is haunted by something watching over him. These examples foreshadow the ending of
the film and the real situation between Norman and Mother.
The music builds a lot of tension and suspense in psycho, it tells us that something is going to
happen very soon and we get prepared for it, the lack of music can make a scene seem calm and
normal, which then contrasts with the loud scary music that starts quickly as the scary part
happens. The audience are unprepared and scared. An example of this in the famous shower
scene where Marion is killed. This is my favourite scene as every symbol is shown so obviously
and we know exactly what is going to happen and yet we are powerless to stop it, the

Fig Lab Report
It is visible in Fig.~ref{ededhe3c} that the missing mass distributions for two energies have a peak
at the $omega$ meson mass 0.7827~GeV/c$^2$, on top of a continuous background.
The peak positions for two energies are at the correct $omega$ mass, indicating that the energy
reconstruction is done properly.
The background of the missing mass distributions ends at different values because of the different
phase space of the two energies.
The two phase space distributions are useful for systematic studies of the background subtraction, as
discussed in Chapter~ref{ch5}.

The steep rise in both histograms, between 0.60~GeV/c$^2$ and 0.65~GeV/c$^2$, is due to the
combined effect of the double and triple pion production phase spaces (see

The background of the multi pion production is subtracted to extract the $omega$ meson peak, as
discussed in the next section.
The $omega$ meson, including all $omega$ decays, is tagged via the missing mass of the proton,
deuteron and $^3$He system, calculated from the $^3$He particles using Equation~ref{mmeq}.
The missing mass distribution is called inclusive because it represents the missing mass after
$^3$He selection only which includes all decays of the $omega$ meson.
In order to count the number of $omega$ mesons in the data, the smooth background from the
direct pion production must be subtracted by fitting the spectra.
The Monte Carlo simulated phase spaces of the multi pion production is used to fit background in
the data.

Roach s Fight Summary
Roach is the boxing coach of world champion 8 division world, Manny Pacquiao and more, like

Napoleon as the Betrayer to the French Revolution Essay...
Napoleon as the Betrayer to the French Revolution
Napoleon Bonaparte has remained one of history s most furiously debated characters. This is
because there has been much speculation and many differing interpretations of his actions as
leader of France from 1799 1815. Most historians tend to have been torn between the portraits of
Napoleon as the heir of the Revolution or as the destroyer of the Revolution s most sacred
principles. However, a third opinion has emerged that suggests that Napoleon made revolutionary
ideas practical and therefore acted as a bridge between the Ancien Regime and the lofty ideals of
the Revolution.

Napoleon realised that religion was of great importance to the people of France. He managed to
agree to a Concordat between France and the Pope that recognised Roman Catholicism as France s
principle religion and sees the Pope as the head of the Roman Catholic Church. However, Napoleon
managed to introduce further terms that effectively made France in charge of religion.
The view that supports Napoleon as the defender of the Revolution is Napoleon himself!
Emmanuel de Las Cases, who accompanied Napoleon into exile on St. Helena, was the author of
Napoleon s main biography, The Legend of Napoleon . In his writings, Napoleon became the
founder of the Revolution and the protagonist of its achievements. He preserved the principles of
liberty and equality, confirmed the destruction of feudalism, united the fractions within France and
propagated the principles of the Revolution abroad. In the 1830s and 1840s, the Napoleonic
Legend arose in France. People in France yearned for the excitement and adventure of Napoleon
and his legend provided this. Napoleon actually himself believed that he was the heir to the
Revolution and that he made the principles work for France.
However, many historians view Napoleon differently. They see his reforms for France as
increasingly autocratic. They perceive that the Legend glorified Napoleon

Students At The University Of Alabama
The number of students attending the University of Alabama has reached a new high of 37,100.
That number is a 2.4% increase from 2014 (uanews.ua.edu). As the number of students is predicted
only to increase in the years to come, the University must reflect on the housing options for these
37,100 students. Freshman students required to live on campus face a difficult situation lack of
housing. With that being said, the best and most efficient way to cope with the ever growing
population is to allow freshmen to live off campus, and build more apartments around campus to
allow thousands of more students to have places to live in the future. Providing housing on campus
for nearly 8,000 freshman students is nearly impossible. The Presidential Villages house 1,840
students. Blout, Bryant, Bryce Lawn, Burke, Friedman, The Highlands, Lakeside, Parham, Paty,
Ridgecrest, Riverside, Somerville, and Tutwiler house roughly 5,000 more students. These
freshman options barely fit the ever growing number of new students coming to Alabama. The
University of Alabamaboard of trustees recently approved a $124 million dollar project to tear
down and rebuild Julia TutwilerDorms. The dorm currently houses 1,000 freshman girls. The
Tutwiler Dorms are due to be torn down at the end of the 2017 Spring Semester. The new

Armageddon In Retrospect Kurt Vonnegut Analysis
How can the view of a humanist change our perspective of World War II? Kurt Vonnegut, author
of Armageddon in Retrospect, did just that. From the viewpoint of a humanist that was a part of
World War II, I realized there was more to the war than just fighting. Vonnegut is able to tell
nonfiction and fiction short stories that give a different perspective and causes the reader to think
deeper about the war. Up until now, most, if not all, of the pieces I have read about World War II
have been from either a victim of the war or someone in the military, but not a humanist.
Humanists want what is best for everyone and want everyone to work together to agree. This is a
different viewpoint because when I think of World War II, I do not imagine the Axis working or
agreeing with the Allies. I never stopped to think that someone could be fighting in the war, but not
agree with what they were doing, such as killing civilians. Through experiencing World War II first
hand, Vonnegut makes different conclusions, reaches contrasting perspectives, and shows
humanistic viewpoints throughout his short stories. Vonnegut reaches conclusions about the war
that are different than others. After reading some of Armageddon in Retrospect, it seems that
Vonnegut has a personal perspective to the war. He feels sorrow and regret for the killings of
people. Vonnegut is a humanist, so he behaves well and does not expect consequences in the
Afterlife. Him being a humanist is the reason he reaches certain conclusions about the war. For
example, in Wailing Shall Be in All Streets, Vonnegut mentions that he would have rather saved
Dresden and everyone should feel the same as him about all the cities on Earth. I interpret his
conclusion of the war as him thinking it was not necessary to kill many civilians, particularly
women and children. This shows that he wants to do good for people and he believes everyone
should want to do the same, which seems like what humanists want. Vonnegut s conclusions are
different than other readings, such as Stimson s. Stimson, Secretary of War, talked about the United
Nations succeeding due to providence, meaning they won because God wanted them to win. He
ended by saying that they would

Relationship Between Babylonians And Babylonians
Mesopotamia is one of the oldest civilizations. The civilization contained many city states and
Babylon is one of them. At its height, Babylon was one of the largest, most important cities of the

Canada s Trade Barriers
Canada is comprised of ten provinces and three territories, a small number that can conceivably
focus on redefining internal barriers for the convenience of the entire country. The Globe and
Mail article Canada s new free trade agreement? How about a deal between provinces by Perrin
Beatty refers to trade that is occurring inside of Canadain relation to the internal barriers of trade.
As a country, Canada s first priority when it comes to trade is not necessarily trading issues
between provinces, but instead trading between other countries. Canada should first and foremost
be correcting barriers for trade between all of its borders before continuing to create agreements
that make trading easier for only some provinces.

The Agreement on Internal Trade is not as helpful as one would think to reduce interprovincial
barriers. Issues arise when there is an inability to assimilate what is needed to reduce barriers. It has
been so inconvenient that provinces in Canada have had to team together to make their own
agreements. The agreement between Ontario and Quebec is a good example of why an agreement
among provinces is not impossible. They have made it possible to focus on agriculture between the
two of them, without making large changes to packaging or regulations. If Ontario and Quebec can
work around the rules of the Agreement of Internal Trade then how would it be so difficult to
involve the entire county? Though it will be difficult to synchronize an entire country it would be
worth it for the economical advantages, along with showing other nations that Canada is not the
mouse that everyone thinks. The other benefit of true interprovincial trade is breaking down the
walls formed through the country. Though I am not naГЇve in thinking that breaking down trade
barriers will fix the nation, I do think that it is the first step in making a unified country again.
Canada would be wise to right the wrongs that the Agreement of Internal Trade has brought up and
follow a strong leadership in correcting the barriers that it has put in

Those atrocities that terrorists cause in western societies aren t just coincidences, they happen
there because western societies are the primary target for those with radical beliefs. The main
reason for the so called Islamic terrorists to hate western culture is largely due to the threats on
Islamic Identity brought up by many different cultures including our own. So they would not
hate western culture as much as they do if other countries would have left them alone from the
beginning. They indeed have a reason or in many cases several reasons including having a lack
of democracy, oppression by the government, occupance by western militaries, and many others,
so it s no surprise why they have so much hatred in their hearts. It is impossible for a baby to
come out of the womb with terrorist ideals embedded in them. One must first be exposed to the
idea of radicalism and terrorism before they can act on its behalf, and in a radical society that is
exactly what happens, they brainwash the kids to hate western society and firmly believe in their

The Theme Of Love In The Screwtape Letters
In The Screwtape Letters, the topic of love appears continuously throughout the text. In different
ways, it is seen that the theme of love is used. Love is commonly understood as a deep feeling for
another but C.S describes God s love as so much more. God s love is unchanging and no matter
what wrong is committed, he will continue to love. Whether it is seen in the patients love of
Christ, his love of his mother, or his love for his romantic partner, they all point to one prominent
thing, God. Screwtape and Wormwood continuously fight throughout the book to strip the
patient of the things that he loves in his life to ultimately lead him away from the true source of
love, which they call the enemy, Christ. C.S Lewis is clear that his opinion is that the all types
of love are branched from the love of Christ. Screwtape and Wormwood devise a plan to strip the
patient of his love for people and things of this world in order to turn him away from Christ and
hand him over to the devil. God s love for humanity is incomprehensible to Screwtape, he thinks
that the purpose of life is to better oneself and take control of others. In the book, Screwtape
explains how they merely want to absorb the patient for their own personal gain and their
desires are compared to God s saying One must face the fact that all the talk about His love for men,
and His service being perfect freedom, is not (as one would gladly believe) mere propaganda, but
an appalling truth (Lewis Part VIII). C.S Lewis describes God as one who does not want to take
over and destroy but as a God who wants to give, unite and love his people. Throughout the book,
we see Screwtape s attempts to rid the patient of love but this job is not as easy as he originally
believes it to be.
Love is a very impactful thing. The fact that the Patient has great love for his mother stands out
as a problem for Wormwood and Screwtape. These two accomplices believe that if they strip the
patient of all sources of love that he will turn away from God. Wormwood is provided with a list
filled with details on how he can turn the patient s love into anger and annoyance towards his
mother. One way that they attempt to do this is by distorting the patient s prayers into prayers

Mandated services: services which have a high economic cost if not performed at any point in
time and where the customer does not have an alternate provider. The economic cost for
interruptions in these services are high because customers need these to function in an economy

Government when the private market fails and so are held in high regard. Isolation of mandatory

the payments system without having to insure the high risk products (Banking, finance, and the

1 Corinthians Authorship
The date and authorship of 1 Corinthians, in general, is highly uncontested. Most biblical scholars
are comfortable setting the probable date for the writing of 1 Corinthians at 54 56 A.D. and the
author as the apostle Paul. There is a lot of support in the Bible and also historical reinforcement
that uphold this date and authorship for the book of 1 Corinthians. The only major area of
contention in regards to the letter of 1 Corinthians is in its integrity. Some scholars would argue that
the letter is a combination of multiple letters written by Paul that over time were stitched together
to form 1 Corinthians, while others would propose that Paul wrote the letter over an extended
period as he received new information about what was happening... Show more content on

It was written while Paul was in Ephesus. Paul had spent approximately eighteen months in 50 to 51
A.D. in the city of Corinth, where he was instrumental in starting up the Corinthian church. This
was one of the longest times he spent with a church during his missionary journeys. After leaving
the Corinthian church, Paul stayed in contact with them. The letters of 1 Corinthians and 2
Corinthians are not the only correspondence that transpired between Paul and the church, though
they are the only two letters that are still in existence today. Scholars are confident there were at
least four letters, with 1 Corinthians being the second letter Paul sent. The first letter is mentioned
in 1 Corinthians 5: 9 10. The third letter was sent between 1 Corinthians and 2 Corinthians. It is
mentioned in 2 Corinthians 2: 4 11 and 2 Corinthians 7: 5 13. Paul also communicated with the
Corinthian church through messengers, who kept him informed over what was transpiring in the
church body. He also made another trip to visit the church, stayed with them for three months, and
then made his way to Jerusalem with the offering he had collected for the Jerusalem

Prussian Military Reforms Essay
Innovation and Evolution:
Prussian Military Reforms of the 19th Century
The concept of war as a static and unchanging occurrence is an outdated and dangerous
miscalculation. More accurately, war is a fluidic, evolving and shifting phenomenon constantly
reinventing itself, rendering stagnant, inflexible principles potentially disastrous. Consequently, as
students of war and future players in this transforming theatre, the study of eras of significant
development is an extremely relevant pursuit. Recognizing the need for adaptation and the creation
of doctrine is now a prerequisite for any effective modern commander. War is unpredictable in
nature and particularly so in current theatres of operation, in which change is rapid ... Show more

These developments influenced most of the powerful nations of Europe and were soon repeated in
similar forms around the world. Furthermore, many of the Prussian enhancements in army doctrine
are the foundation of the command structures of many modern militaries today.
Although his armies enjoyed unprecedented successes and expanded the French Empire from
Spain to the steppes of Russia, the Napoleonic way of war was fraught with deficiencies. Due to
the Napoleon s genius and mastery of this period of military manoeuvres, he was able to forestall
the affects of the inherent limitations of his system until the war of the Sixth Coalition (1813)
and eventually the fateful battle of Waterloo (1815). One the most significant, intrinsic flaws in
Napoleon s system was related to issues of command. During the beginnings of Napoleon s
career, he commanded armies of sizes up to 60 000 troops. In Italy in 1796, he commanded a
force of just 38 000. With the increasing sizes of forces in the later empire, due to concepts such
as levee en masse and recruitment legislation of 1792, the inability of a single commander to
control such vast forces was becoming apparent. The sheer immensity of the forces now mustered
was unprecedented. In 1812 the Grande Armee, consisted of a staggering 611 000 soldiers. Much
to the hindrance of the later empire, few, if any officers in the Grande Armee, besides Napoleon
himself, could command forces

How Did Jewish People Use Military Resistance To The...
The fight for Jewish honor The Jewish population of Europe was about 9.5 million in 1933. In
1950, after the Holocaust the Jewish population of Europe was about 3.5 million.
The Holocaust, was a genocide during World War II in which Adolf Hitler s Nazi Germany,
systematically murdered some six million European Jews, between 1941 and 1945.
At the time of the Holocaust, Jews used armed and unarmed forms of resistance in order to retain
their humanity.Armed resistance was when the Jewish people fought physically to avenge the
slaughter of so many of their people. One example of this type of resistance was the Warsaw Ghetto
Uprising. In April May 1943, Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto rose in armed revolt after rumors that the
Germans would deport the remaining ghetto inhabitants to the Treblinka killing center. (Jewish
resisitance article) This quote shows the acts of resistance at this time were violent. Armed
resistance showed how passionate and strong the Jewish people could be. Another non violent way
Jews resisted was through unarmed resistance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this type of resistance was how the Jews would do certain things they weren t
allowed to by the Germans and then hid it. Students hid their books under their clothing. Jews
smuggled books and manuscripts into many ghettos for safekeeping, and opened underground
libraries in numerous ghettos (Spiritual resistance) That quote shows all the different things the
Jews did to keep them going without a bother to others. These efforts served to reaffirm a Jewish
sense of community, history, and civilization in the face of both physical and spiritual annihilation.

Kurt Cobain s Influence On The Music Industry
Kurt Donald Cobain was born on February 20th, 1967 and died on April 5th, 1994. In his
lifetime, he gave a voice to many young people who didn t think they had one, contributed most to
the popularization of the Grunge genre, and had a lasting impact on the music industry. Known as
the spokesman for a broken generation , he was looked up to by many young people around the
world. It was him that sparked the wave of many underground, local or well known grungebands all
across America and Europe that goes on until today. As for the music industry; Kurt Cobain
basically made alternative rockinto a sub genre that had its own niche which made Billboard
recognize it as what brings independent music together.

It was without a doubt their most successful album and what brought the experimentation and
untraditional loud noise making to the masses. It was only as successful as it was because it was
perceived to be unique and it was perceived to be its own brand of catchy. Hard rock today still
relies a good deal on drawing crude sonic inspiration from Nirvana s dynamic and emotionally
volatile output (Ramirez, 2014, par 5). However, it was their debut album Bleach that
established the loud random noises as their trademark. After it was released, many garage bands
began to do so much as noises of screeching pickups on their instruments to knocking over
amplifiers at their live sets. Kurt Cobain s success had been a breakthrough for bands in
Portland, Chapel Hill, Omaha, and countless other places that had been off the radar of the
industry. (Cross, 2014, p.22). The energy still fuelled concert acts such as moshing and crowd
surfing, but it also served as a different kind of outlet for personal frustration. This is the one
aspect that isn t given enough stature: How Nirvana and co. helped reclaim the inclusiveness of
music. Going to a show and being yourself, or realising you could start a band without having to
wear a bandana and bike shorts, or dress in the wildest hair metal way possible in order to shock
people, Nirvana conferred a real sense of belonging (Levin, 2014, par

Cherokee Country Club Advertisement Analysis
On the topic of state regulation of alcohol and drinking in clubs, many different advertisements
and newspaper articles can be found. Two of which that relate to the article by Malleck are the
advertisements of the Apache Country Club (Figure 1) and the Arizona club (Figure 2).
Throughout Malleck s article, there have been references on the club being a private home for
members, as can be seen in the title, or as a surrogate home. Also, drinking in certain clubs was
even regarded to as basically being the same as [consuming liquor] in a private home. This idea is
displayed in the advertisement on the Apache country club, due to its description of being a home

Cold Blood, By Truman Capote
In the non fiction novel, In Cold Blood, Truman Capote follows the tail of the Clutter family
murder in Holcomb Kansas. Four members of the Clutter family are brutally murdered by two ex
cons and the story follows the hunt for the murderers, their capture, and eventually some country
justice. The murder took place on the night of November 15, 1959. The investigators had no
motive for the crime and the only clues that they had were two pairs of boot prints left by the
killers. Capotetook all of his notes and after the murder had been solved he began to formulate a
new kind of non fiction novel, a feat that no one had truly succeeded at before. Many challenges

The section begins with a description of the town, After rain, or when snowfalls thaw, the streets,
unnamed, unshaded, unpaved, turn from the thickest dust to the direst mud (Capote 1). By
including these details in the description of the town it shows that the town is a very old
fashioned town that is behind the societies that are in more developed, larger cities in America.
Capote goes on, The bank closed in 1933, and its former counting rooms have be converted into
apartments (Capote 2). With the bank having been closed around the time of the depression it
shows that the town no longer trusted the government after the banks failed them and they do all
their business between themselves. The town is a very closed off from the national system and the
only connection they have is through their post office. All these descriptions cause the town to be a
perfect picture of a safe, rural community where nothing bad happens and people all depend on each
other.
Also in the first section, Capote describes the Clutter family and their murderers as the murder
approaches. First, the head of the house, Mr. Clutter is described, He was not as rich as the richest
man in Holcomb... He was, however, the community s most widely known citizen, prominent both
there, and in Garden City... (Capote 6). Mr. Clutter was a well known and well loved by the society

Tenure in America Essay
Although there are many varying opinions on what revisions should be made to the tenure system
in America, I believe that even though there are many complaints, Tenure needs to be maintained
in order to promote academic freedom and educational security. Tenure is defined by Mathew
Finkin as At the expiration of a period of probation, commonly not to exceed six years of full time
service, a faculty member is either to be accorded tenureor to be given a terminal appointment for
the ensuing academic year. Thereafter, the professor can be discharged only for just cause or
other permissible circumstances and only after a hearing before a body of his or her academic
peers (Finkin 3). Tenure, in recent years, has become a point of heated... Show more content on

Unions don t grant tenure administrators do. Too many school boards and superintendents attack
tenure rather than hold their own managers accountable for hiring and supervising teachers and,
if necessary, removing those who don t make the grade. Tenure is granted by the board of
education on recommendation of the superintendent but many schools do a poor job of
evaluating and supporting teachers...Tenure s not about protecting bad teachers; it s about
protecting good teachers. What would happen to teachers without tenure? They could and
would be fired for virtually any reason. It s not hard to imagine teachers being dismissed
because they failed the daughter of an influential businessman or because the school board
president s nephew needed a job. In these fiscally troubled times, what would stop a school board
from replacing a veteran teacher at the top of the pay scale with a first year teacher simply to
save money? Tenure is the first line of defense against attacks on academic freedom. Teachers can
engage their students in a free exchange of ideas only if they are protected from arbitrary dismissal
for doing so. Tenure prevents school boards from arbitrarily dismissing teachers for holding
political, religious or social views with which they disagree.[Tenure] protects academic freedom the
way the First Amendment protects freedom of the press (NYSUT). Although that is the position
that I

Importance Of Education In Computer Science
Ultimately, education in its real sense is the pursuit of truth. It is an endless journey through
knowledge and enlightenment.
Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
I truly adhere to the above mentioned axiom, which made me to realize and understand the
importance of continuous learning and helped me in reaching greater heights. The inherent
curiosity for the field of computers started, right from childhood when I was able to perceive that
this magical machine possesses the potential to simplify the lives of people and empower them.
Initially, to my mind, this machine is a huge calculator, in which the advanced calculations are
performed, that cannot be done using normal calculator. This idea led me to initiate the learning
about computers. Tally is the first software which proved me that I was wrong about this
intelligent machine and it is capable of solving many complex problems that are plaguing in the
society. My strong affinity towards latest technologies, subsequent industry experience and a
strong will to reinvent myself through my coding skills helped me to go beyond horizons. I
believed a Master s Program could be a solution for my never quenching quest for knowledge. Also,
the four years worth experience in various application developments, boundless potential in
programming and interest in coding industry drove me to make a commitment to embark a Master
s Program in Computer Science.
Serious interests evolved in me to learn more about science and computers when I was in

Example Of Romantic Comedy

Romantic Comedy
Romantic Comedy has been around for many generations enticing the public with ideas of love
and romance in a humorous way. According to Dictionary.com Romantic Comedy is defined as,
a movie or play that deals with love in a light, humorous way. For all romantic comedies to make
this happen, they follow three simple rules. Boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl back. As
Brian Finnigan from The Five Golden Rules of Romantic Comedy says, Different but the same, He
wants She Wants, turmoil, and learning curves . Although these technical terms are different, they
mean the same thing. Today that may look a little different but this is a staple part of romantic
comedy that makes it different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was not much luck.
Animal comedy came during the late 70s and 80s. Due to the lack of character growth between the
beginning and the end of the movie, these films are great for sequels. Characteristically, animal
comedy is about pigs who want to have meaningless sex with women, and due to the lack of
character change, at the end of the movie, the characters still want to have meaningless sex with
women.
The most used Romantic comedy style today is Modern American Romantic Comedy. The
woman is portrayed to be equal to the man. A great example that really changed the way romantic
comedy was viewed was When Harry Met Sally. Women gave their point of view on relationships
and could express equality with men. As James Murphy from moviereal.com states, Can men and
women ever be just friends? Is it possible to move on from the one you love? Is love at first sight
ever true love? Is there just one person for everyone? Can I be a big corporate superman AND a
decent human being? Etc. These are some questions from romantic comedies that prove the point
that women were viewed differently in this film and that caused movies the future movies to
change the way the portray women and men together.
Finally, Geek Comedy began in 1998. Like animal comedy the characters start out wanting to have
meaningless sex with the opposite sex. The difference is there is a character change throughout the
storyline and by the end of the

The Glass Menagerie Essay
The Glass Menagerie
In The Glass Menagerie, Tennessee Williams places his characters in difficult situations
throughout the play. Laura Wingfield is a very shy person with an illness that has left her
crippled. This illness makes Laura fearful and it causes her to think less of herself. Amanda
Wingfield (laura s mother) fancies laura to marry a man that will care for her, since she is young
and dependent. Laura accepts the fact that she will not have any gentleman callers because she is
insecure of herself. Anxiety crushes laura in finding that her high school crush will be attending
them for dinner. Laura shares similar characteristics to her glass unicorn because they are both
unique and fragile.
To start off, in The Glass Menagerie, Laura has to face many standards in her love life. Amanda

Neurology Personal Statement Examples
I have always been fascinated with the human brain and its ability to control all that we do. My
interest only grew after I saw my first human brain specimen on the anatomy dissection table and

wanted to pursue a career that allowed me to learn all I could about this powerful organ. Just prior

which is what makes American the way it is today. We are all human and deserve to be treated as
such with dignity and respect. Although America has a hard time showing that we are all equal, I
still believe it is a part of the American Dream. The United Stateshave run into many brick walls
trying to make it seem like all of us are equal, but it has not been a complete success. Many

As I grew older my desire to help others lead me in a lucid career path. I wanted to become a doctor. I knew I wanted to become a doctor, but I wasn t aware of how such of a complex career it would be. I realized that it would take years of education, training and experience. Nevertheless, this was something I was determined to do and complete successfully. So I worked hard in school. Occasionally I got a bit side tracked, but with the help of my grandparents I recovered quickly. I also wanted to break the cycle in my immediate family. • 3. Freedom Riders Thesis I want to pursue my graduate studies on history at Cal State Los Angeles. I gained an interest in history as a career. I m going to become one of the children from my family to pursue this endeavor. I see history as important information which teaches to not repeat past errors for society in the 21st century. Furthermore I want to see what jobs I can do in my current condition, after being diagnosed for multiple schelrosis and asperger s syndrome. I m very committed on finishing the paper work; in fact I was successful on completing my thesis about Freedom Riders at the Univeristy of La Verne. Although I couldn t finish this thesis without Dr. Sayles because said he told me that the Freedom Riders actually started with James Farmer because he created the Freedom of Reconciliation, which protested bus segregation on upper southern states buses; later this civil rights group turned into the Freedom Riders which protested segregation in the Deep South s buses. It was very important for me to finished this because it helped me graduate from the University of La Verne. • 4. The Trump Wall Controversy The 2016 presidential election has created much controversy as both parties were viciously attacking each other throughout the campaign season; one of the initiatives that the Republican Party was the wanting to pursue was the building of a wall that will border the United States and Mexico. Although the source of this money is unaware, Trump s plan is make the country of Mexico to pay for it as it stretches nearly two thousands miles long and has a great expense (Drew). This action that Trump wishes to put into place is negative to outlook on the United States and draws a question of how could the people of America vote for someone that wants to segregate the United States from another race. Throughout election season many people were shocked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, Stew Magnuson an author and journalist explains the drastically long period of time that it will take for a hardship like this The Trump Wall will never be completed as envisioned before the new president leaves office even if he were to win a second term. In fact, it s a safe bet to say a nearly 2,000 mile long wall on the U.S. border with Mexico is a pipe dream as the workers to put on this wall to make it happen in less than 8 years it would cost even more to the budget of 1.2 billion dollars to buy materials for this enormous wall (Magnuson). As President Trump claims it will take at least a year to accomplish this wall, it is believed that it will take longer than possible a decade of work (Moller). With the preparation, the workers, and the funding to make this project set into play, will still take over a decades of work; in fact, it took the Chinese 2,000 years to build the great wall (Griffiths). Although, the executive order is signed for the building of the wall, still many disagree on its intentions to fix a not as important problem in society today. Many do not agree according to a poll by the Washingtonpost that states Washington Post ABC News poll: Sixty percent of adults oppose building a wall along the U.S. Mexico border, while 37 percent support it. Of these respondents, 47 percent are strongly against it. It is worth noting that 76 percent of Trump voters support it, while 91 percent of Hillary Clinton voters don t. But what the January poll also found is that even among those who supported neither of the candidates, the consensus (69 percent vs. 27 percent) is against building the wall and even though the ... There are different areas within the industry that can be affected. First we will look at supply and demand. Then continue to the positive and negative externalities, and how wages inequality is measured. Then finally, we will look at the monetary and fiscal policies that affect the housing industry. With the information we will have a better understanding of how the home buildingindustry is affected. When looking at prices within an industry, we need to first look at the supply and demand. For home builders this market has been fluctuating for awhile. The gross domestic product (GDP) is one of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. The Human Genome The human genome is a vast sequence of nucleic acids consisting of adenine, thymine, guanine, and cytosine which are connected into a long polymer by a sugar phosphate backbone. The entirety of the genome is approximately 3 billion base pairs which encodes for all functional proteins and RNA molecules needed for life. Remarkably, only a small fraction of the genome actually constitute genes; about 15% of the genome are genes or gene related sequences, while 85% of the genome is noncoding (Krawczak and Schmidtke, 1994). Of the noncoding region there are specific regions that vary highly between individual people. These regions are polymorphic, or in other words have many different forms. Some loci vary so much that it is rare to find... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The amount each sequence is repeated varies between individuals and the specific nucleotide pattern can differ as well (Krawczak and Schmidtke, 1994). However, high quantities of DNA were needed to acquire accurate results when comparing VNTR regions. Therefore short tandem repeats (STRs), or microsatellites, proved to be better suited for use in forensic analysis. STRs are similar to VNTRs in that they are portions of the noncoding DNA that contain various amounts of repeated units. But in regards to VNTRs, STRs have a much shorter repetitive sequence, usually between 2 to 6 nucleotides, but sometimes can be up to 10 base pairs (Figure 1). The small size of STRs in comparison to VNTRs allows for more efficient amplification of the DNA via PCR and enables scientists to use DNA that has been more significantly degraded. Forensic analysts compare 13 different STR locations plus one that determines gender of the obtained sample (Roewer, 2013). STRs vary highly between individuals; for example, one person could have an STR at a specific locus encoding the following: CGCGCGCGCGCG, whereas another person could have CGCG at the same locus. In these tandemly repeated units, there is a higher extent for variation between these sequences than found in gene sequences due to the organism being more tolerant to aberrations in these portions of the genome. Therefore these areas will have many different forms, sometimes as many as 2000. Thus if several ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Compare And Contrast Autumn And Winter Both autumn and winter are special times of year. Whether you call it autumn, fall, that one season after summer with the cool leaves, or anything else, it has place in all our hearts. Winter may be disliked by some for the harsh weather and cold atmosphere, but I love all winter has to offer. I love late fall and early winter because of the holidays and the traditions they bring, the soft snow, and winter break. Holidays are times full of family, games, and celebration. They re designed to be fun and memorable experiences to commemorate different concepts, and they certainly do it well. October 31st is a time of the spooky and kooky, people of all ages decorating their homes, inside and out. Anyone and everyone can decorate in any way they please. Whether cartoony, gory, realistic or outlandish, there s a way to spice up your residence for everyone. Pumpkin carving is long held practice, people once upon a time adorning gourds and turnips too. With new technology, it s easy to utilize dry ice, projectors, and sound effects for maximum impact, but it s always nice to return to simple homemade decorations. When you think of Halloween, you probably think of trick or treating. Putting on a costume is a thrill like no other! The classics will always have a special place in my heart, but there are recourses to dress up as anything. Outlandish or understated, trick or treating holds a special place in my heart. Amazon was able to develop business in the Midwest as well as in the Southern State. One of their main focus is to build many headquarters and facilities around the world mostly near large populated cities because it can be easier and quicker to distribute them. Based on Amazon s Fulfillment Center Network it is mentioned that the largest amazon s fulfillment center is located in 6835 West Buckeye Road, Phoenix, Arizona. The size of the facility is 1,009,400 square feet 2. Some of the large cities that is located near the facility are Mesa, Tucson, Chandler, Glendale, and Scottsdale. One of the main reason why Amazon plan to build more facilities in Arizona is the fact that it is a highly competitive corporate headquarters for many business and is in the top five largest cities in the United State. Moreover, in the past years technology has penetrated industries and without no doubt in couple year s automation would be replacing humans as it is seen as a competitive advantage. Even though, automation is setting the standards for many businesses and a highly competitive factor in today s industries, there are many advantages of automation taking over the workforce as well as disadvantages. Some negative impacts that have occurred included inflicted violence and large numbers of deaths within the African American community. Many families and friends suffered and mourned for their loved ones who died unrighteous and sorrowful deaths. Despite the darkness of the impacts, there was still a ray of light. For example, when the KKK emphasized and kept racial segregation/discrimination for a long time, it actually became a wake up call for more passionate and confident civil right activists. • 11. Sociological Imagination The Act Of Drinking Tea Word Count: 1. By using sociological imagination, the act of drinking tea can be interpreted in more ways than just the basic interpretation of simply ingesting a beverage. For example, the gathering of people to meet for tea is a social outcome of the act of drinking tea. Also, the act of tea drinking can be for the purpose of maintaining health as tea is typically a healthy beverage. Lastly, tea drinking and producing was used in many cultures as a sort of ritual. We have to imagine the perceptions of other concerning ourselves because unless that person or people tell us how they feel about us, we will have no way to determine their true feelings. We imagine these perceptions in a variety of ways. For example, by interpreting nonverbal communication we can develop an idea as how people perceive us. 7. Our self concepts are affected by the thoughts of others more greatly than we may think. How others think of us is reflected in how they treat us. A major example of this is bullying. For example, the bullies view the victim as weaker or lesser than themselves and as a result the victim is left with a feeling of worthlessness or having no purpose. This changes the self concept of the victim because now they may be closed off and quiet when perhaps before they were outspoken and sociable. 8. The looking glass self has a crucial impact on children. This is because as they are going through the developmental stages of self, children will be very conscious of those around them and how those people view them. For example, if a parent is constantly yelling, even if it is not always directed at the child, the child would most likely feel that the parent is angry with them. • 13. Analysis Of Mulk Raj Anand s The Feminine Sensibility INTRODUCTION Mulk Raj Anand is a prominent figure in Indian writing for his delineation of the lives of the poor castes in traditional Indian culture and society and his depiction of Indian women. His personal experiences and the changes in Indian political, social and cultural institutions forms his works. Anand is more intrigued in life than in art, and in art only in so far as it serves life. He considers truly humanistic art is commensurate with the needs of our times. (Anand, 1946) Anand s humanism is more expanded, more complex and one might acknowledge that he had sources in his mother s spirituality and in these early experiences it grew in an environment, both in Imperial India and in Britain, that was finally determining of its form. Anand has a tendency to view women as having more interiorness, more affectability, than men and attributes the best in writers such as D.H Lawrence and E.M. Foster to what he has referred to as the feminine sensibility . Sympathetic to the notable predicament of women and anxious to see them rise up out of the oppression under which they have suffered so long, Anand has respected women s efforts on their own behalf. According to him, the whole revolt of women in the world, is an assertion of the feminine principle, which men have neglected, ignored and suppressed. Now once woman is able to win her liberation, I feel that the equal but different situation of man and woman will become far more congenial. People will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

People are often uncomfortable with the very idea of it, and some are even ignorant of its function. The practices and views resulting from these widespread beliefs can be harmful to women s mental and physical health, as well as their livelihood and relationships with others. When impregnation does not occur, the endometrium, along with blood and vaginal discharge, leaves the uterus through the vagina, and the cycle repeats itself (Hyde DeLamater, 2014). Nothing of this process indicates any toxicity in women, or any effect on them outside of the physical. It is a monthly biological cycle that occurs in fertile women to prepare for the possibility of conception, and any negative view towards it or the women experiencing it has its source in ignorance, fear, or in the words of books written thousands of years before anyone even had an inkling of how menstruation works. History Without knowing the reason why menstruation occurs, it is a scary idea; a woman, uninjured, begins to bleed for days from the area of childbirth and intercourse every month. It would be easy to relate this occurrence, to something mystical and powerful. The vagina itself has been a thing of mystery, with some cultures considering it to be a channel to the beyond; babies are born through it, and without knowledge of how they develop, some believed that newborns simply came from another plane of existence (Magli, 2009, p. 91). The belief that a woman s body holds a portal to some other world makes it frightening and possibly dangerous, and many traditions have manifested in an attempt to control this supposed power, such as infibulation (cutting the labia so when the tissue heals, it creates a barrier over the vaginal opening) and separation of women ... If you are automatically born in Puerto Rico, you are automatically a U.S citizen. They use U.S passports to travel internationally. Some people are inclined to view the Puerto Rican experience as a historical repetition of earlier migrations to the United States. The first wave of emigration occurred in the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century. The second wave occurred from the 1940s to the present. Made in the 1960 s when film censorship was very tight to today s standards, Hitchcock pushed the limits of what could be shown and did with psycho things that had never been done before. The cinematic art, symbolism and sub conscious images in this film were brilliant for the time and still are now. Realised for this, psycho has been copied in many ways and the things that made it great have become very clichГ©d. Taxidermy is a very big part of the film, it hints to the ending, creates a scary atmosphere, describes Norman s character and is used before something evil happens. The stuffed birds prey down on Norman and seem to haunt him (as his mother does). They mirror the way the dark, gloomy, gothic house watches over the hotel and also how Mother psychologically watches over Norman, this creates suspense as the audience wonder how he will use the tension he is building up. Another example is when Arbogaust gets killed and when Norman is taking his mother downstairs, we watch over this scene from the top corner, as the birds do in Norman s office this implies that Norman is haunted by something watching over him. These examples foreshadow the ending of the film and the real situation between Norman and Mother. The music builds a lot of tension and suspense in psycho, it tells us that something is going to happen very soon and we get prepared for it, the lack of music can make a scene seem calm and normal, which then contrasts with the loud scary music that starts quickly as the scary part happens. Vonnegut is able to tell nonfiction and fiction short stories that give a different perspective and causes the reader to think deeper about the war. Up until now, most, if not all, of the pieces I have read about World War II have been from either a victim of the war or someone in the military, but not a humanist. Humanists want what is best for everyone and want everyone to work together to agree. This is a different viewpoint because when I think of World War II, I do not imagine the Axis working or agreeing with the Allies. I never stopped to think that someone could be fighting in the war, but not agree with what they were doing, such as killing civilians. Through experiencing World War II first hand, Vonnegut makes different conclusions, reaches contrasting perspectives, and shows humanistic viewpoints throughout his short stories. Vonnegut reaches conclusions about the war that are different than others. After reading some of Armageddon in Retrospect, it seems that Vonnegut has a personal perspective to the war. He feels sorrow and regret for the killings of people. Vonnegut is a humanist, so he behaves well and does not expect consequences in the Afterlife. Him being a humanist is the reason he reaches certain conclusions about the war. For example, in Wailing Shall Be in All Streets, Vonnegut mentions that he would have rather saved Dresden and everyone should feel the same as him about all the cities on Earth. I interpret his conclusion of the war as him thinking it was not necessary to kill many civilians, particularly women and children. This shows that he wants to do good for people and he believes everyone should want to do the same, which seems like what humanists want. Vonnegut s conclusions are different than other readings, such as Stimson s. Stimson, Secretary of War, talked about the United Nations succeeding due to providence, meaning they won because God wanted them to win. He ended by saying that they would ... At its height, Babylon was one of the largest, most important cities of the ancient world. Canada s Trade Barriers Canada is comprised of ten provinces and three territories, a small number that can conceivably focus on redefining internal barriers for the convenience of the entire country. The Globe and Mail article Canada s new free trade agreement? How about a deal between provinces by Perrin Beatty refers to trade that is occurring inside of Canadain relation to the internal barriers of trade. As a country, Canada s first priority when it comes to trade is not necessarily trading issues between provinces, but instead trading between other countries. Canada should first and foremost be correcting barriers for trade between all of its borders before continuing to create agreements that make trading easier for only some provinces. When the Agreement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Agreement on Internal Trade is not as helpful as one would think to reduce interprovincial barriers. Issues arise when there is an inability to assimilate what is needed to reduce barriers. It has been so inconvenient that provinces in Canada have had to team together to make their own agreements. The agreement between Ontario and Quebec is a good example of why an agreement among provinces is not impossible. They have made it possible to focus on agriculture between the two of them, without making large changes to packaging or regulations. If Ontario and Quebec can work around the rules of the Agreement of Internal Trade then how would it be so difficult to involve the entire county? Though it will be difficult to synchronize an entire country it would be worth it for the economical advantages, along with showing other nations that Canada is not the mouse that everyone thinks. The other benefit of true interprovincial trade is breaking down the walls formed through the country. Though I am not naГЇve in thinking that breaking down trade barriers will fix the nation, I do think that it is the first step in making a unified country again. So they would not hate western culture as much as they do if other countries would have left them alone from the beginning. • 36. The Theme Of Love In The Screwtape Letters In The Screwtape Letters, the topic of love appears continuously throughout the text. In different ways, it is seen that the theme of love is used. Love is commonly understood as a deep feeling for another but C.S describes God s love as so much more. God s love is unchanging and no matter what wrong is committed, he will continue to love. Whether it is seen in the patients love of Christ, his love of his mother, or his love for his romantic partner, they all point to one prominent thing, God. Screwtape and Wormwood continuously fight throughout the book to strip the patient of the things that he loves in his life to ultimately lead him away from the true source of love, which they call the enemy, Christ. C.S Lewis is clear that his opinion is that the all types of love are branched from the love of Christ. Screwtape and Wormwood devise a plan to strip the patient of his love for people and things of this world in order to turn him away from Christ and hand him over to the devil. God s love for humanity is incomprehensible to Screwtape, he thinks that the purpose of life is to better oneself and take control of others. In the book, Screwtape explains how they merely want to absorb the patient for their own personal gain and their desires are compared to God s saying One must face the fact that all the talk about His love for men, and His service being perfect freedom, is not (as one would gladly believe) mere propaganda, but an appalling truth (Lewis Part VIII). C.S Lewis describes God as one who does not want to take over and destroy but as a God who wants to give, unite and love his people. Throughout the book, we see Screwtape s attempts to rid the patient of love but this job is not as easy as he originally believes it to be. Love is a very impactful thing. The fact that the Patient has great love for his mother stands out as a problem for Wormwood and Screwtape. These two accomplices believe that if they strip the patient of all sources of love that he will turn away from God. Prussian Military Reforms Essay Innovation and Evolution: Prussian Military Reforms of the 19th Century The concept of war as a static and unchanging occurrence is an outdated and dangerous miscalculation. More accurately, war is a fluidic, evolving and shifting phenomenon constantly reinventing itself, rendering stagnant, inflexible principles potentially disastrous. Consequently, as students of war and future players in this transforming theatre, the study of eras of significant development is an extremely relevant pursuit. These developments influenced most of the powerful nations of Europe and were soon repeated in similar forms around the world. Furthermore, many of the Prussian enhancements in army doctrine are the foundation of the command structures of many modern militaries today. Although his armies enjoyed unprecedented successes and expanded the French Empire from Spain to the steppes of Russia, the Napoleonic way of war was fraught with deficiencies. Due to the Napoleon s genius and mastery of this period of military manoeuvres, he was able to forestall the affects of the inherent limitations of his system until the war of the Sixth Coalition (1813) and eventually the fateful battle of Waterloo (1815). One the most significant, intrinsic flaws in Napoleon s system was related to issues of command. During the beginnings of Napoleon s career, he commanded armies of sizes up to 60 000 troops. In Italy in 1796, he commanded a force of just 38 000. With the increasing sizes of forces in the later empire, due to concepts such as levee en masse and recruitment legislation of 1792, the inability of a single commander to control such vast forces was becoming apparent. The sheer immensity of the forces now mustered was unprecedented. In 1812 the Grande Armee, consisted of a staggering 611 000 soldiers. Due to the lack of character growth between the beginning and the end of the movie, these films are great for sequels. Characteristically, animal comedy is about pigs who want to have meaningless sex with women, and due to the lack of character change, at the end of the movie, the characters still want to have meaningless sex with women. The most used Romantic comedy style today is Modern American Romantic Comedy. The woman is portrayed to be equal to the man. A great example that really changed the way romantic comedy was viewed was When Harry Met Sally. Women gave their point of view on relationships and could express equality with men. As James Murphy from moviereal.com states, Can men and women ever be just friends? Is it possible to move on from the one you love? Is love at first sight ever true love? Is there just one person for everyone? Can I be a big corporate superman AND a decent human being? Etc. These are some questions from romantic comedies that prove the point that women were viewed differently in this film and that caused movies the future movies to change the way the portray women and men together. Finally, Geek Comedy began in 1998. Like animal comedy the characters start out wanting to have meaningless sex with the opposite sex. The difference is there is a character change throughout the storyline and by the end of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 54. Neurology Personal Statement Examples I have always been fascinated with the human brain and its ability to control all that we do. My interest only grew after I saw my first human brain specimen on the anatomy dissection table and closely examined the small but brilliant structures on that cadaver brain. It was then I knew I wanted to pursue a career that allowed me to learn all I could about this powerful organ. Just prior to medical school I had witnessed the devastating effects of Alzhiemer s disease on a family member and saw first hand how the lack of information about the etiology of this disease and the limited amount of breakthroughs about the treatment to stop or reverse its progression provided care difficult. A neurology residency would help provide me with an excellent opportunity to learn the intricacies of the brainand spinal cord. It would also provide me opportunities to participate in valuable research projects that may one day provide the level of insight about neurological diseases that my family wanted to know. I was born and raised in the United States with parental emphasis on education, family values and empathy for others. Although my family and I endured many hardships, including ... We are all human and deserve to be treated as such with dignity and respect. Although America has a hard time showing that we are all equal, I still believe it is a part of the American Dream. The United Stateshave run into many brick walls trying to make it seem like all of us are equal, but it has not been a complete success. Many problems with race and gender is still relevant today.
