Military Campaign Research Paper
On March 11, 1862, Lincoln made the decision to remove McClellan as General in Chief, demoting
him to command only the Army of the Potomac. Chief of Staff, Peyton March, sent a telegram to
McClellan in refence to his orders and instructed him to speak first to Governor Dennison. Suspicious
of this message McClellan refused the invitation to Washington or to speak to Dennison. Later, the
General wrote to his wife that the rascals of Washington were after him again and that if he could
come out of this, he would never get himself in this position again. Because of this refusal, he learned
of his demotion via the National Intelligencer, a Washington newspaper. Although many leaders in the
government continued to resent the commander, he was still ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

With Little Mac once again at the head the Army of the Potomac it moved to stop Lee s invasion of
Maryland After a series of skirmishes along the Blue Ridge Mountains, the two forces met at Antietam
on September 17, 1862. Federal intelligence told McClellan of Lee s plans and the General took this in
to this strategy. McClellan was successful in his defeat of Lee, but the outcome was the single
bloodiest day of the Civil War. Battle weary and bloodied, Lee called for a time to bury the dead, and
the Confederate Army retreated into Virginia under the cover of darkness. With this retreat, Lincoln
expected McClellan to give chase to the Confederate Army and became frustrated when the General
stated that his men needed to rest and refit. In early October, Lincoln decided to visit McClellan at
Antietam to express his frustration at the general s refusal to capitalize on the recent

Key Events in the Reformation
Thesis Statement: These key events reforming religion are what shaped the world for good and for bad
in the 14th to the 19th century. The Reformation was full of war and inventions that many had never
seen before, affecting the religious and social political systems in positive and negative ways. The first
event in the Reformation was the Printing Press. The Printing Press enabled the circulation of the
bible, starting the spread of Christianity and the Catholics. The Printing Press was created by Johannes
Gutenberg in 1450. Before the Printing Press the bible had to be printed by hand, which meant that the
copies had to be written word for word. Because they had to be written word for word only the
important people had them such as Popes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were wars during this Reformation in the 16th and 17th century that took place in many parts of
Europe. The first wars took place in central and southern Europe, between the Christians and the
Muslims. The Christians and the Muslims had been fighting each other ever since the Crusades from
the 11th to the 13th century; also in the Spanish Reconquista from the 8th to the 15th century; and the
Ottoman Wars in Europe from the 15th to 19th century. The wars that were the longest lasting were
the wars between the Protestant and the Catholics. These wars were some of the bloodiest wars in the
European wars of religion. The war between the Protestants and Catholics is called the 30 Year s War
which was the longest in the war of religions. The Counter Reformation came better late than never as
they were much needed. The Council of Trent had a major role in the counter. The Council of Trent
fought for the Reformers in every way possible. The Council of Trent believed in the areas of
tradition, original sin, justification, sacraments, the holy masses, and the veneration (honoring) of
saints. The Council of Trent and the Catholics fought to become more spiritual, educated, and literate.
The reformation was a long and bloody time. There are many ways to look at this time period. Some
say it is from the church perspective and say these religions were fighting for what is right. I for sure

The Battle Of The Confederate War
In the wake of the June 17th shooting in Charleston, South Carolina, protesters have been successful
in their campaign against the Confederate Battle Flag resulting in its removal from state buildings.
They have pursued the issue further, arguing that all Confederate Civil War memorials should be
removed. I disagree; the Confederate monuments hold too great a historical value to simply dispose of
them like last night s dinner. The monuments and memorials under fire all possess similar traits that
causes social and racial tension. By first identifying these traits we can then make the necessary
adjustments to remedy the issue. Again, Confederate war memorials possess a valuable glimpse into
the past and are worth preserving because if we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conflict of interest often appears with post Civil Rights Movement monuments. Placing a Confederate
statue near a Civil Rights Movement memorial could be seen as an attempt to strengthen white
supremacy which is one of the fastest ways to aggravate the immediate audience which would result
in the removal of the Confederate monument. The placement of a statue can lend it authority or the
semblance of government support. Monuments can be placed near a government building or near
government backed memorials and this tactic is known as symbolic accretion (2, p.420).
A new Confederate monument is being built in Texas which demonstrates positively and negatively
attributes as mentioned above. I will discuss what was done the right way first. Before building
commenced a survey was given to the residents to see if they approved of the project. It received a
74% approval rating. The project is being built on private property and is being funded by a non
government organization. This aspect gives the memorial little added authority. The memorial
recognizes the thirty two divisions from Texas that fought in the Civil War. Since being that it is
located in Texas, it is relevant to this location. Now, for what the memorial did wrong. Ever since the
memorial was announced the local NAACP branch has protested it. Also, it is being built near a
highway. Though organizers checked

The Large Bathers
Paul Cézanne is considered to be one of the most important artists of the 20th century.
His work influenced several artistic movements and many important artists. His paintings covered
themes like landscapes and nature. (Voorhies, 2004) The painting The Large Bathers was exhibited for
the first time in 1906.
Henri Matisse was a French painter who was an important artist of the Fauvism movement. The main
characteristics of Fauvism paintings were the usage of vivid colors and the usage of bold brushwork.
His paintings covered themes like landscapes, female nude and nature.

Discussion
By the time of his death, Paul Cézanne was highly admired as an artist. He did not have the time to
finish the painting The Large Bathers , which was exhibited in a posthumous homage to him a year
later after his death. As such, many of the young artists in Paris at that time saw the painting as a
strong inspiration and creative challenge. Both Matisse and Picasso were influenced by Cézanne s last
painting.
Matisse s Bonheur de Vivre is similar to The Large Bathers in some aspects: it depicted nude figures
in nature. The main difference, when compared with Cézanne s work, is the difference in scale.
Matisse shifted the scale in what appears to be in a random way. As an example, there are two human
bodies next to each other that have different scales. The same does not occur with Cézanne s work.
Another difference is that Matisse used bright colors that did not match with reality. (Harris Zucker,

Analysis Of Once Upon A Time
Once Upon a Time by Nadine Gordimer Imagine witnessing a family s surroundings turning before
their eyes as their neighborhood becomes dangerous by the days, also Having constant fears of
homeless people barging into their home and stealing their beloved items and food to survive. With
the family having to secure their home, the family s only son died from the things that were suppose to
protect them. As you well know the child ends up dead at the end because of over security. In the short
story Once Upon a Time Nadine Gordimer has a weird transition with point of view at the end of the
first page. This transition helped out develope the mood. The point of view of this story is unique
because of the transition. If the story had a different perspective it would change most of the story. The
story begins with the narrator (Nadine Gordimer) in her bed explaining an offer she had been given.
The offer was to write a children s book, but she didn t write children s stories. The same novelist that
had offered her the opportunity wrote in a book of his every writer ought to write at least one story for
children. Her job was to write an analogy of stories for children, In the first three paragraphs she woke
up from the stress and anxiety that she had. The stress had made her hear certain things. Nadine
Gordimer thought there was a person in her home. A creaking of the kind made by the weight carried
by one foot after another along a wooden floor. Soon she realized that

Looking for a change of scenery, to start a family or to launch a career? Everyone wants the best
things in life. Whether you are looking for a snow covered mountains, warm sunny days at the beach,
or fine dining and night life, there is always a city that will meet your needs. Quality of life is very
important and you would like to be in a place where you will feel comfortable and at peace. However,
no two cities are alike. Every city has its unique and distinct characteristics to boast.
Home is not just a place where you eat or sleep at. Home is where your heart is. It is a place where
memories are created and experiences are shared. Some of us prefer the slow pace of the countryside
while more clusters of people are drawn to the energetic pulse of the metropolis. With so many
wonderful places to explore, it is so overwhelming to think where you want to settle down or live your
life.
The ability to live safely is one of the key in choosing the best places to live in the United States. The
violent crime rate must be lower than the average rate. When it comes to enjoying a long and healthy
life, factors such as optimism and purpose, a natural diet, healthy lifestyle and low stress level are
three times as important as your genetic makeup.

Taylorism or Scientific Management Principles at Ford...
The central theme of this essay will deal with the role of Taylorism or scientific management in a
specific organization. The primary focus will be to critically discuss how the various methods of
scientific management are applicable to the chosen organization, which in this case will be Ford
Motors. The essay will describe F.W. Taylor s early work life and techniques of scientific management
and its success. It will then go on to discuss the production methods at Ford Motors prior and post the
application of the management principles along with their benefits and criticisms.
As the popularity of systematic management rose, there were many organizations that were

This would not only be advantageous for the employer but also the employee since it would result in
higher wages. Due to this, the worker s level of motivation and drive to do better would escalate
leading to overall productivity of the organization (Salimath and Jones, 2011, p.88).
Taylor furthermore emphasized on this method as it reduced the time taken between each activity
since each worker was limited to doing a precise task. Thus, the worker was able to complete the job
in the least possible time and reduce wastage. Along with improved efficiency, Taylor used scientific
management techniques to make sure proper utilization of resources is taking place and wastage is
being kept to a minimum (Salimath and Jones, 2011, pp. 85 86).
Taylorism can be seen as an evident feature in several production based industries especially
organizations specializing in automotive manufacturing. One of the key practitioners of Taylor s
management principles was Henry Ford, founder of Ford Motor Company.
Initially at Ford motors, production used to take place by keeping the vehicle at one position and
making the workers move in and about gathering the several parts together. This method unfortunately
was a very tedious and time consuming process. In view of this fact, Henry Ford appointed Taylor to
monitor the operations taking place. Ford applied the scientific management

Ethiopian Cultural Identity
1. What is your chosen group background? What has it meant to belong to this group? As you know, I
am Ethiopian. I was born and raised in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia. I belong to the Ethiopian community
not only in Ethiopia, but also here in America. Finding Ethiopian friends who share the same interest
as me, understand their culture, practice their languages, and have interest in returning back to
Ethiopia someday, has always been a struggle for me. Most of the Ethiopians who I meet are
Americanized. When I was studying at NIU, I was blessed to have a small circle of Ethiopians who
grew up there. Spending time with me made me feel secure, like I actually belonged. Lucky for me, I
am also a part of the African community. There are 53 countries in Africa; however, there is an
unbreakable bond that is seen amongst Africans around the world. We share the same identity and
have the upmost love and respect for our continent and the people still living there. 2. Where did you
grow up and what other groups resided there? How did this early personal history influence your
beliefs of others I lived in Ethiopia for quite some time before given a chance to move to America.
When I arrived in America, the only people that were around me were Caucasians. They did not look
like me or act like me. I found this very difficult when I first came to America. I was jealous of my
classmates because they spoke clear English, they had cars to get them to and from school, and they
had nicer clothes

Low Voter Registration
One of the primary causes for low voter turnout in the United States is low voter registration. In order
to vote in state, local, or federal elections, citizens are required to be registered by a certain date before
the election. People can register in person, by visiting a state affiliated election facility, or by mailing
their registration forms, postmarked no later than the registration date. Additionally, only 31 states
including the District of Columbia give voters the option of registering online. Considering this fact
and that we are living in an age with great technological advances, 31 states is far too few. Hence,
New York s inability to modernize voter registration and reach out to new voters effectively lowers the
number of registered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bad news is that all of these policies need to be approved by the state legislature which
notoriously has had a track a record for stalling and not allowing many of these changes to be
implemented. For instance, in 2014 the Democrat controlled State Assembly passed legislation that
would establish 2 weeks of early voting, but the Republican controlled State Senate blocked the
legislation from passing. Similarly, the battle for same day registration in the state legislature has been
ongoing since 1988, when current Governor Andrew Cuomo s father, Mario Cuomo was the Governor
of New York and had suggested making registration deadlines as late as possible. He had also
appointed a special task force to study voter turnout and come up with a solution to resolve low voter
turnout. The special task force ultimately proposed implementing same day registration to the state
legislature. The existing power struggle between Democrats and Republicans in the state government
have made it all, but impossible for voter registration reform. However, New York s future looks
bright as there are more and more state officials speaking up and getting on board with many of the
proposed registration

Orion Magazine Based On Environmental Activism
Although Orion is a magazine based primarily on environmental activism, it also often incorporates
scientific thought and evidence. Sometimes the articles do roam into the world of eco extremism, but I
genuinely feel that by reading this website, audiences lives are enriched by its content. The editors
clearly care as much about the message each issue sends as the authors of the pieces presented therein.
The layout provides the respect to the articles and photography that they deserve. Thus, the website
Orion provides an effective translation of science by displaying inspiration relating to travel, writing,
and learning successfully to the intended audience of the young or old adult.
The objective of Orion magazine is to not only providing valuable information to numerous scientific
related articles, but also to cultural concerns. I was able to conclude that it is an extremely successful
entertainment and educational site. The design of the website is very bright and appealing to the eye.
Its layout is inviting and easy to navigate. When looking further into the magazine s design, one sees
that it is consistent with all the pages. There are many graphics including, photographs, which
eventually lead the reader into more personal topics. This attention grabbing mechanism, essentially
allows the audience to explore what they are interested in. The articles are also placed in an orderly
fashion and do not create a cluttered appearance. The simplicity does not mean Orion is

Gold In Beowulf
The Role of Treasure in Beowulf
Brave and ruthless Beowulf, the protagonist of this Anglo Saxon poem, proves himself a hero time
and time again by eliminating any threat of danger to his people. Because of his success in defeating
Grendel, he is rewarded with treasures by Hrothgar, and eventually takes the throne and rules for fifty
years. The concept of treasure is used many times Beowulf, the reader is exposed to the use of it for
diverse reasons. On one hand, treasure and gold is used as a reward, a symbol of status and honor.
Contrarily, the treasure can also be hoarded, cursed, deemed as evil , and ultimately becomes the
underlying reason behind Beowulf s death. As the poem progresses, the view one might have
regarding treasure is subject ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fame that comes with the receiving of gold is a feeling which drives Beowulf back for more. This
type of phenomena happens in modern society as well. We are accustomed to seeing celebrities not
being able to handle the consequences of fame. In some cases they are so inclined to gaining more and
more fame that sometimes they can lose sight of things which may go wrong. The misapplication of
treasure is portrayed through the death of Beowulf. Despite Hrothgar s speech to Beowulf, in which he
addresses the dangers of success and fame, Beowulf is driven by his will to defeat Grendel s mother
and acquire the treasure which she has been guarding. O flower of warriors, beware of that trap.
Choose, dear Beowulf, the better part, eternal rewards. Do not give way to pride. For a brief while
your strength is in bloom but it fades quickly; and soon there will follow illness or the sword to lay
you low, or a sudden fire or surge of water or jabbing blade or javelin from the air or repellent age.

The Portrayal Of Women In Young Goodman Brown
Gothic fiction portrays women as a way of manipulating the plot to be different than assumed. It also
shows women as a weakness set up for something bad to happen. It shows how women often are in an
unhealthy state of mind and are able to portray everyone in the story that way. The way the author
presents the woman can have an effect on the way the reader portrays that story. Women break the
molds they are typically given in other type stories. They are given a bigger role towards the plot and
have more of an effect on it. Gothic literature typically has two ways of presenting the woman, as
either the predator or the victim. In the story Young Goodman Brown the woman is portrayed as a the

Figurative Language In Harry Hume s The Cough By Harry Hume
The Cough Harry Hume s short story The Cough uses figurative language to show that the father
works as a miner and as a result is getting sick but cannot stop working as his job is the only thing
keeping the family afloat. The diction used in this micro story illustrates how the father s job as a
miner seeps into every part of their life. The personification of the cough sets out to illustrate the
father s illness not as something evil or destructive, but simply as a nuisance. The symbolism of the
Orrery demonstrates how the author views their father s sickness as the core of his world, responsible
for making their lives function. Hume s is able to show an entire family s state and story in a few
paragraphs by using carefully selected words and literary devices to make the reader infer the
information rather than say it explicitly. The personification of the cough shows that it is such a
constant presence in the family s life that it almost acts as a family member. The description of the
cough behaving like a child both makes the reader view the cough as a member of the author s family
and implies that the author does not view the cough as necessarily malignant. However, the cough is a
nuisance much like a little kid is a nuisance because it is always hungry and demand[ed] attention. The
cough being always hungry makes the reader think of a little kid wanting food rather than a lung
disease that forces the father to constantly cough and the cough demand[ing] attention makes the
reader think of a pesky child rather than the constant sounds of the father coughing. These descriptions
fit in with the personification of a child and make the reader see the cough as more of a helpless thing
that needs to be taken care of rather than insidious and evil. The personification of the cough as a child
also acts as if the author sees the cough as a part of the family, both emphasizing its constant presence
and the author s almost benign view of the cough. The imagery used in The Cough illustrates the
father s life as a miner. The father is first described as walking down Ash Alley, which both makes the
reader visualize a gray and dingy alleyway while also drawing from the same imagery of a

How Is Atticus Finch Courageous
Courage is an interesting word. Courage can be a feeling or an act. In the novel To Kill a
Mockibngbird the characters Mrs Dubose, Tom Robinson and Atticus Finch all demonstrate what true
courage really is. The first character I will discuss is Mrs Dubose. Mrs Dubose is a very old woman
battling an illness and a morphine addiction. Secondly, I will discuss Tom Robinson. Tom is a black
man who is (falsely) accused of rape by Mayella Ewell. Finally I will explain why Atticus Finch is
courageous. Atticus is the father of the novel s narrator Scout or Jean Louise Finch. All three
characters demonstrate great bravery throughout the novel, each have their hardships and each try to
push through the adversity to their best ability.
To begin, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a reader, I found Atticus to be the most courageous character in the novel. The reasons behind this
statement are that Atticus defends a black man in court, he stands up to the lynch mob in front of the
jailhouse and because he can fight without words. First, Atticus is very valorous for taking the Tom
Robinson case. For a white man to be acquainted with a black man who was not his slave was rather
sporadic. Even after all of the physical and verbal abuse Atticus took he kept his word and defended
Tom for all he was worth. I can t stay here all day and this summer is going to be a hot one. (Atticus,
Page 128) As a reader, this was the greatest act of courage executed in the novel. For Atticus to risk
his respect, family and life to protect a black man took great bravery and sacrifice. Secondly, Atticus
protected Tom from he lynch mob at the jailhouse. As the men poured out of the car towards Atticus,

Dystopian Similarities Between 1984 And Hunger Games
Rishabh Engineer Mrs. Schroder English IV Honors 26 April 2018 The Comparison of Dystopian
Aspects within 1984 and Hunger Games George Orwell s novel 1984 created a bleak future where
there was little to no hope. Such a society can be classified as dystopia, a utopia with dark aspects.
Dystopian works are a subgenre of literature that highlights major ethical and humane issues by
creating a fictionalized setting where such issues can be seen. Dystopian literature has recently been
popularized through many modern authors such as Suzanne Collins and Veronica Roth; however,
earlier examples, such as 1984, can be seen as far back as mid 20th century. Dystopian literature can
be classified relatively easily due to its unique themes and characters. ... Show more content on

This distinct feature allows for the development of a story line that orbits around the protagonists life.
From the very start of 1984 you can notice this style, for instance when Winston explains his
surroundings and daily life. A kilometre away the Ministry of Truth, his place of work, towered vast
and white above the grimy landscape. This, he thought with a sort of vague distaste... (pg. 5). First
person narration does not only provide a realistic depiction of the protagonists life, but it allows for
the ideological revelations the protagonist realizes throughout the novel. Both Katniss and Winston
were first compliant with the governing system, however, through reflection, they realized the burdens
and constraints the government put upon them. From those realizations, dystopian protagonists such as
Katniss or Winston start countering the oppression through rebellion. Examples of such rebellion can
be seen through entire revolutions. From Katniss Mockingbird movement in book two and three, to
simple illegal acts, such as Winston s purchase of a diary. The willingness to rebel while knowing the
consequences not only displays the displeasure of the protagonists, but exemplifies the magnitude of
their displeasure. Winston and Katniss both understood the consequences of their actions, yet they did
it anyways. For Winston, in book two, he knew that his affair with Julia might get them both killed.
Yet he still continued the relationship, not only to not betray Julia, but because he felt like he was

Plastic and Fantasy in U.S. Advertising
The United States is a country that has an over flowing number of magazines and advertisements that

observing these images. The citizens of the United States who turn to cosmetic surgery often times do

Essay on History of the Democratic Republic of Congo
Prior to 1960, Belgium and their King, Leopold ruled the Congo region. They held great interests in
the rubber industry and created harsh labor camps that exploited the people. That is why after gaining
independence in 1960, the nation then known as Zaire plunged into chaos. Military unrest coupled
with oppressive warlord throughout the region made it a very unstable state, ready to collapse.
Nowadays, U.N. peacekeeping forces hold posts in the nation to maintain its stability. The United

That is another reason why U.S. economic involvement in the DRC is seen as very important, because
it produces stability in the region, leading into the next point. As stated at the end of the last
paragraph, the U.S. must prevent more military destabilization in the region through both military and
economic means. The early mission statement of the United States Africa Command states that the
West s long term strategic interests in Africa are clear: we must thwart the growth of terrorism and
transnational crime; we must prevent destabilizing mass migrations; and we must maintain secure
trade links. Through military invention and economic aid, both the DRC and other nations in Africa as
well as the United States will benefit with increased national security. In 2001, the UN blamed the
various factions that fought a brutal five year war in the DRC for deliberately extending the conflict in
order to plunder the country s extensive supplies of gold, diamonds, and timber (World Geography).
Through the Peace, Security and Cooperation framework the U.S. is able to maintain a Special Envoy
for the Great Lakes and the DRC to prevent further exploitation of resources. The Envoy has a main
goal of locating and destroying the main root cause of instability in the region. In other economic

The Great Reset By Richard Florida
The Great Reset by Richard Florida discusses the many issues that have occurred due to various
recessions and depressions. The book provides an outlook and realistic perspective on how he
perceives the current crisis will play out. Florida states that the new normal will not be as focused on
cars, houses, and suburbs. We will not be as centered on the ownership society which George W. Bush
discussed. This is an upsetting realization. Owning a house is not what it used to be. Growing up,
owning a house was a big dream of mine. With a new economy like we are in, owning a house tends
to be more of a hindrance. I can understand where his point of view is coming from. In today s society
you have to be able to have a flexibility, which sometimes involves moving to a new place. Renting
houses or apartments is going to become the greater choice. Many of the resets in the past have
recovered and actually brought about some good aspects. For instance, the first reset gave us a
technological revolution where energy systems were created and many crucial inventions were made.
This reset also helped in terms of transportation. Transit systems became an important mode of
transportation and they have become such an important mode of transportation in big cities. Through
these times of reset, there has been a large increase in immigration. Although many people viewed this
as another way for jobs to be taken away, it has had beneficial aspects. Many cities grew larger and

K.A. Kitchen names nine differences and seven similarities in the two traditions. The two narratives

asked to build an ark (boat); the flood destroys everyone else on the earth. The boat eventually rests on
a mountain and the birds are sent out off the boat to see if there is any land that is habitable. The
chosen man eventually sacrifices to the divine and humanity is renewed on the earth.[footnoteRef:7]

The Global Economic Crisis Of The Middle Of 2007 And...
Introduction
The finаnсiаl crisis of 2007/2008 was not а саsе of markets failing. Instеаd, it shows how markets
ultimately rесtify their internal shоrtсоmings. The global economic crisis started in the middle of 2007
and lasted about five years. The crisis was triggered by the bursting of a housing bubble (Mishel,
Bivens, Gould, Shierholz, 2012). It was characterized by massive withdrawal of investors from
markets as a result of reduced confidence, volatile world stock markets and reduced liquidity for
banks which were unable to offer or obtain credit. Some financial institutions were facing the risk of
collapse. Governments around the world rushed to save these institutions and cushion their economies
from the economic crunch through what were popularly referred to as economic stimulus programs.
This essay discuses the causes, results and exists of the financial crisis regarding financial market,
financial institution, and central bank (monetary policy) of Greece or Ireland and Europe from 2007
2009.

finance investment spending exceeds domestic saving, foreign savings must be spent to fill the deficit.

John Locke in An Essay Concerning Human Understanding argues that there can be made a
distinction between ideas in the mind and qualities in bodies. Ideas are whatsoever the mind perceives
in itself, or is the immediate object of perception, thought, or understanding (Locke II.8 §8). The
power to produce any idea in our mind is what Locke calls the quality of a subject in which that power
is. A snowball has the power to produce in us the ideas of round, white, and cold as they are in a
snowball, which is its quality. The sensations and perceptions in our understanding is what Locke calls
ideas.

Critical Review Of The Gunpowder Factory
This critical review examines The former Gunpowder Factory in Dachau a concentration camp for
Political Prisoners , Dachauer Volksblatt. 6th April 1933. This is a primary source in the form of a
speech, directly from Heinrich Himmler himself during a press conference on the 20th March. This
was first published in German, since it was aimed at the German citizens however it was later
translated by Sally Winkle. This speech was given 2 months after Hitler became Chancellor of
Germany, possibly showing he had the intention of getting rid of his hatred towards certain groups
before he actually came into power. His opinions where clearly expressed in Mein Kampf where
Hitler made his opinions somewhat clear on what he thought about inferior races.
Dachau was said to be home to, in the words of Heinrich Himmler, Political prisoners , as well as all
communist functionaries and the Reichsbanner (social democratic party, around during the Weimar

Hitler would have wanted to eliminate and threats to his rise to power, so sending them to a

Blaiming the Paparazzi
In 1997, Princess Diana died in a car crash in Paris, which was blamed on the paparazzi that were
chasing her. Because the accident happened in France, no British charges can be laid against the
photographers. However, nine were charged with manslaughter in France, but the charges were thrown
out in 2002. Three photographers Jacques Langevin, Christian Martinez and Fabrice Chassery were
convicted of invasion of privacy for taking pictures of Princess Diana and were each fined one euro in
2006. Of course it is obvious that the public is intensely curious to know more about celebrities, but
don t you think celebrities have the right to be private?
First of all, let us define who the paparazzi are and what they do for a living. A paparazzo is a
photographer who takes pictures of athletes, actors, celebrities, politicians etc... on a daily basis. As a
matter of fact, paparazzi s tend to chase celebrities wherever they go. Whether it was to the Academy
Awards, shopping at a mall, or even going to the gym. Nowadays the paparazzi are going way beyond
the limits and are becoming more likely bizarre. They are competing against each other and are trying
to have the best exposed pictures of celebrities they could get at any cost. They don t care if they hurt
or stress celebrities. They simply want to be the best.

The Sculptures And Frescoes Of Women
The sculptures, carvings, and frescoes of women that we have in the ancient world I think make it
hard to get an exact depiction on what the roles and statues of women really were. There are a lot of
archeologists that devote their lives to the study of reading these paintings. I feel like most of the time
even the experts guess could be as good as a novice because even with art sometimes there are hidden
meanings that only the artist knows. Although most of these sculptures and frescoes seem to have so
much detail that make it easier for us to at least try and depict what their meanings are. The sculptures
help us go back in time and figure out what our ancestors went through to get us to where we are now.
I think sculptures, carvings, and frescoes of the ancient world show how women are very supportive
and submissive to their husbands, took on more feminist roles in their communities, and show their
statues based on how they dressed. In most pictures of women from the ancient world they seem to be
shown as being very supportive of their husbands. Although women now are supportive of their
husbands, it seems as though in the pictures this was only a one way support system. There was one
statue made which was shown in our book, The Humanistic Tradition, where the queen is standing
next to the king with her arms around him (Fiero, 2006, p. 24). I think this picture is a great example
of how women might have been the emotional support for their husbands. The picture shows

Analysis Of Bullet In The Brain
A man faced with his fatality will quiver and beg for mercy. Anders, from Bullet in the Brain , is
unique in that he faces death with laughter and sarcasm. The short story by Tobias Wolff portrays a
man named Anders being shot during a bank robbery after ignoring the threats of the robbers (In Text
Cite). Through descriptions of the protagonist and his speech with other characters, Anders shows
signs of schizophrenia. Before the shooting, the narrator describes Anders and his interactions with
other people at the bank. In the first paragraph, Anders looks at the two women in front of him with a
murderous temper (In Text Cite) and is described as criticizing books with savagery (In Text Cite).
Anders is also angry with the girl in front of him when she whines about the teller closing their
window, telling her she is overdramatic. Most people would be slightly annoyed with these
interactions, but murder would never come to mind.
The robbers and their interaction further support the idea that Anders is crazy. When the robbers enter
the bank, they wearing blue business suits. Blue often represents sadness, which is a common
symptom burdened upon those with schizophrenia. When the robbers begin threatening the hostages,
Anders tells the woman, Great script, eh? (In Text Cite). This line shows an inappropriate response to
the threat presented. Normal individuals would panic at the sight of a gun, but Anders seems to think

Throughout Rivoli s book, there is the central theme that poorer countries could be relatively
improved by the opportunities that they are provided with the jobs in the process of manufacturing a
shirt. Rivoli sections her book off into 5 parts due to chronologically following the process of how or

There are sweatshops in global capitalism that will exploit those who are in a weak position. There are
women who are forced to work everyday of the week at long hours and earning a low wage (89). Their
living conditions are less than desirable, and one could say that their rights seem to be nonexistent.
With that being said, Rivoli presents the other side of what will occur as the result of globalization.
One outlook could be from a business one: the shirts are cheaper because there is more work that is
being down, the consumers will be pleased that they do not have to pay more for their shirt (90).
However, a critic might look at the conditions that the people who were at the factors had to face and
see that they were denied justice and their personal rights (90). Rivoli does not state which side she
stands on, instead she questions the reader to develop their own opinion instead of simply take

Importance Of Psalm 116
Psalm 116 is a great read for us as Christians and for us as moms. Psalms 116 speaks of the benefits
and blessings of God s Word. But, in order to get the benefits and blessings of the Word we must first
study, meditate, and walk out the passages. My greatest motivation for keeping God s Word close to
my heart and my study game strong is my children.
At some point our children will leave us, they will leave our homes and start their own, they will leave
a piece of our family as they marry and begin their own. How refreshing is it to know that the wisdom
and discretion they learn from God s Word is able to protect and guard them even when we can t be
with them. Here s the question though, how will our children learn of God s Word?
Let s dive in, start off by reading Psalm 116:9 16.
9.How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. 10. I seek you with all
my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. 11. I have hidden your word in my heart that I
might not sin against you 12.Praise be to you, O Lord; teach me your decrees. 13. With my lips I
recount all the laws that come from your mouth. 14. I rejoice in following your statues as one rejoices
in great riches. 15. I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. 16. I delight in your decrees; I
will not neglect your word.
1. What are some of the ways the psalmist sought after God s Word?
Now read Psalm 116:49 52.
49. Remember your word to your servant, for you have given me hope.

Cognitive Therapy For Psychological Disorders
The main premise of psychological disorders are rooted from how an individual understands and takes
things into perspective, and how well they are able to regulate their emotions depending on different
circumstances (Nature Neuroscience, 2007). There are numerous types of emotional illnesses that can
be treated by very precise talking treatments. For instance, psychodynamic therapists are based off of
Freud s theory s, so they help people deal with things such as addictions, eating disorders and
depression by considering how previous experiences have been taken into your thought process and
dealings the current time. Cognitive therapists look at how we think and how we act in response to
those thoughts in either a negative or positive way. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is a frequent occurrence where therapy does not work to its complete potential due to multiple
reasons. For instance, there are a lot of pre conceptions, as therapists will frequently help based on
books and what they already know as opposed to what the specific person is in need of, as each person
takes things differently. A relationship also has to be formed before therapy will start to proceed, and
the only way to form a proper relationship is with trust and trust takes a while to form, especially if the
person has a lot of walls and has been hiding themselves for years before actually seeking help. As this
is such a hard task to fulfill, the patient will tell the therapist what they want to hear not what they
actually feel, therefore making the journey to bettering themselves longer. In some cases the patient
doesn t even want to be getting therapy in the first place, which will also cause them to act out and lie
and separate themselves even farther from the therapist. We are shown these occurrences in Good Will
Hunting when Will was first forced to go to therapy. The first few times he would act out, joke around
and lie about experiences. The only time therapy actually started to work was when he and Sean, his
therapist, formed a special relationship in which Will trusted him enough to open up and tear down his
walls. Another reason why talk therapy isn t always successful is because therapy takes a lot of time
and the patient might get discouraged if they don t see immediate results. An additional reason why
therapies are an inefficient development is because the patient may have a lot of set backs, due to the
inconsistency in their minds, and their environments as the therapists goal is to change the person, not
the environment, which what we re a main

Summary Of Edwidge Danticat s Breath, Eyes, Memory
In Breath, Eyes, Memory, Edwidge Danticat explores the conflict that exist between Sophie and her
mother, Martine. Sophie states, There s a difference between what a person wants and what s good for
them (Danticat 72) because what Sophie wants for herself is different than what her mother believes is
good for her. Martine s belief of what is good for her daughter are based on her own life experiences
and what she has learned from them. Danticat makes it clear in the text that Martine believes Sophie
should study and have a passion for becoming a doctor in the future and she is to remain a virgin until
marriage. However, Sophie does not exactly follow the guidelines of what her mother believes to be
good for her. Sophie does what she wants as she longs to live in Providence so she can put her mother
s horrifying past behind her. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her mother informs her right away that she is going to work very hard here. Martine plans for Sophie
show that she wants to live out what were once her dreams through her daughter. This is supported
when Martine states you have a chance to become the kind of women Tanta Atie and I have always
wanted to be. If you make something of yourself in life, we will succeed. You can raise our heads
(Danticat 44). Danticat further supports this when Sophie is first introduced to Marc. He offers to take
Martine and Sophie to dinner at a Haitian restaurant. While they are there Marc asks Sophie what she
has planned for her future. She announces that she would like to become a secretary one day, but her
mother declares that she is too young you are going to be a doctor (Danticat 56). Being a doctor had
always been a dream of Martine s. Since she was unable to fulfill that dream on her own, she now tries
to force her dream upon Sophie. However, Martine does not exactly realize this as she thinks she is
acting in Sophie s best

Cardiologist Research Paper
The number one cause of death in America is cardiovascular diseases. Cardiologists and cardiac
surgeons fight the diseases by treating the patient s heart. Cardiologists are doctors who treat patients
with heart and blood vessel diseases. Cardiac surgeons perform surgeries on patients with heart and
blood vessel diseases that s reached a stage where surgery is necessary. Cardiac surgeons are referred
to by cardiologists when the patient s symptoms need to be treated on by surgery.
Heart professionals have to go through many years of school in order to become a doctor that works
with hearts. In order to become a cardiologist or cardiac surgeon they must earn a doctor of medicine
degree and license. Cardiologists education after earning a medical license begins with practicing
internal medicine followed with certification and a fellowship. First, Brunot explains, Cardiologist

Internal Medicine, completes fellowships for three to six ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When a patient is examined with machines and tests the cardiologist determines whether the disease or
symptoms have gone far enough that surgery is necessary. Third, Brunot explains, Cardiologist
diagnose heart and coronary artery conditions, abnormal heart rhythms, and congenital heart defects
by tests (Brunot). Cardiac surgeons must stay up to date on machines and tools to make surgical
procedures more efficient, quicker, and easier. Cardiac surgeons perform procedures using tools and
machines that help cure heart diseases or make the heart function better. Next, Brunot states, Cardiac
surgeons operate on patients with heart issues using machines (Brunot). A cardiologist helps the
cardiac surgeon to better understand what may be occurring in the heart and what needs to be operated
on in order for the heart to function the way it is supposed

It is easy to say that species are constantly changing,...
It is easy to say that species are constantly changing, and branching off into totally new species. But
how do we know where the species originate? Phylogenies help to show us how all kinds of species
are related to each other, and why. These relationships are put into what can be called a cladogram,
which links species to common ancestors, in turn showing where, when, how, and why these ancestors
diverged to form new species. Without phylogenies, it would be extremely difficult to put species in
specific categories or relate them to one another. Along with phylogenies can come conflict on which
species should be related to one another. This conflict causes many hypotheses and experiments,
which can lead to phylogenetic retrofitting, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The parareptile hypothesis is taken back at least two decades. It has recently been rediscovered and
contradicted by parsimony. Bayesian inferences support this parareptile conclusion, but parsimony
concludes the idea of turtles being a sister group to pareiasaurs, which is an anapsid group, including
Eunotosaurus. To test these hypothesis, a multitude of data is compiled to observe the stability behind
the inferences made. In this article, one main experiment was discussed through the collection and
analysis of two retrofitted matrices, phylogenetic analyses, and molecular scaffolds. In one matrice,
Eunotosaurus was added to a diapsid focused data set, while turtles were added to an anapsid focused
data set. The diapsid sets included a broad sampling of diapsids, which placed turtles as sisters to
sauropterygians. The anapsid set, on the other hand, included a broad sampling of anapsids, especially
parareptiles. Turtles were not included in the anapsid set. When the experiment moves on to the
phylogenetic analysis, Bayesian inferences and parsimony were brought into the mix. After these
analyses, the experiment finally includes molecular scaffolding. The effect of molecular scaffolding
was to see where extant linneages interact with molecular phylogenies. The, the Bayesian and
parsimony analyses were again repeated with these backbone constraints while everything else is
indifferent. The idea

Feminism And Cyberfeminism
Cyberfeminism is an offset of feminism characterized as a range of theories, debates, and practices
about the relationship between gender and digital culture (Daniels 102). While this definition
addresses some of the most basic ideas associated with Cyberfeminism, it is not actually a theory with
a universally accepted definition, but rather centers on a number of central ideas and practices.
However, it is generally accepted that the preliminary concepts of cyberfeminism, namely the idea of
a cyborg, were presented by Donna Haraway in her 1984 piece A Cyborg Manifesto. While her article
was written in the mid 80 s, Cyberfeminism achieved popularity in the late 80 s and 90 s in relation to
the blossoming technological advances, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The goal of adopting the cyborg figure is to lessen such power, in order to create a society in which
those with partial or contradictory identities may embrace those identities proudly, without fear of
policing or invisibility (295). One tactic recommended in this Manifesto, and later echoed in various
Cyberfeminist works, is irony. Irony, according to Haraway, is so effective because it draws attention
to pieces that do not fit neatly into a larger whole, as well as the tensions that arise from holding
incompatible things together because all are necessary and true (291). In fact, it s these tensions
themselves, the consequences of hardships of living a hybrid life that become the focus of some later
Cyberfeminist works, such as the struggle between the physical and the non physical, or between the
physical body and an online persona. What remains central, however, is Haraway s insistence that
such an examination of tension, or benefit, never become totalizing. One cannot rely on essential unity
(295) to define or understand something, especially something as complex as a board crossing,
boundary dissolving cyborg. That idea carries over to Cyberfeminist activism, ideology, and theory.
Just as Haraway speaks against a unified idea of women based on perceived, inherent characteristics,
including innate innocence

  • 2. Military Campaign Research Paper On March 11, 1862, Lincoln made the decision to remove McClellan as General in Chief, demoting him to command only the Army of the Potomac. Chief of Staff, Peyton March, sent a telegram to McClellan in refence to his orders and instructed him to speak first to Governor Dennison. Suspicious of this message McClellan refused the invitation to Washington or to speak to Dennison. Later, the General wrote to his wife that the rascals of Washington were after him again and that if he could come out of this, he would never get himself in this position again. Because of this refusal, he learned of his demotion via the National Intelligencer, a Washington newspaper. Although many leaders in the government continued to resent the commander, he was still ... With Little Mac once again at the head the Army of the Potomac it moved to stop Lee s invasion of Maryland After a series of skirmishes along the Blue Ridge Mountains, the two forces met at Antietam on September 17, 1862. Federal intelligence told McClellan of Lee s plans and the General took this in to this strategy. McClellan was successful in his defeat of Lee, but the outcome was the single bloodiest day of the Civil War. Battle weary and bloodied, Lee called for a time to bury the dead, and the Confederate Army retreated into Virginia under the cover of darkness. With this retreat, Lincoln expected McClellan to give chase to the Confederate Army and became frustrated when the General stated that his men needed to rest and refit. • 3. Key Events in the Reformation Thesis Statement: These key events reforming religion are what shaped the world for good and for bad in the 14th to the 19th century. The Reformation was full of war and inventions that many had never seen before, affecting the religious and social political systems in positive and negative ways. The first event in the Reformation was the Printing Press. The Printing Press enabled the circulation of the bible, starting the spread of Christianity and the Catholics. The Printing Press was created by Johannes Gutenberg in 1450. Before the Printing Press the bible had to be printed by hand, which meant that the copies had to be written word for word. Because they had to be written word for word only the important people had them such as Popes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There were wars during this Reformation in the 16th and 17th century that took place in many parts of Europe. The first wars took place in central and southern Europe, between the Christians and the Muslims. The Christians and the Muslims had been fighting each other ever since the Crusades from the 11th to the 13th century; also in the Spanish Reconquista from the 8th to the 15th century; and the Ottoman Wars in Europe from the 15th to 19th century. The wars that were the longest lasting were the wars between the Protestant and the Catholics. These wars were some of the bloodiest wars in the European wars of religion. The war between the Protestants and Catholics is called the 30 Year s War which was the longest in the war of religions. The Counter Reformation came better late than never as they were much needed. The Council of Trent had a major role in the counter. The Council of Trent fought for the Reformers in every way possible. The Council of Trent believed in the areas of tradition, original sin, justification, sacraments, the holy masses, and the veneration (honoring) of saints. The Council of Trent and the Catholics fought to become more spiritual, educated, and literate. The reformation was a long and bloody time. There are many ways to look at this time period. • 4. The Battle Of The Confederate War In the wake of the June 17th shooting in Charleston, South Carolina, protesters have been successful in their campaign against the Confederate Battle Flag resulting in its removal from state buildings. They have pursued the issue further, arguing that all Confederate Civil War memorials should be removed. I disagree; the Confederate monuments hold too great a historical value to simply dispose of them like last night s dinner. The monuments and memorials under fire all possess similar traits that causes social and racial tension. By first identifying these traits we can then make the necessary adjustments to remedy the issue. Again, Confederate war memorials possess a valuable glimpse into the past and are worth preserving because if we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Conflict of interest often appears with post Civil Rights Movement monuments. Placing a Confederate statue near a Civil Rights Movement memorial could be seen as an attempt to strengthen white supremacy which is one of the fastest ways to aggravate the immediate audience which would result in the removal of the Confederate monument. The placement of a statue can lend it authority or the semblance of government support. Monuments can be placed near a government building or near government backed memorials and this tactic is known as symbolic accretion (2, p.420). A new Confederate monument is being built in Texas which demonstrates positively and negatively attributes as mentioned above. I will discuss what was done the right way first. Before building commenced a survey was given to the residents to see if they approved of the project. It received a 74% approval rating. The project is being built on private property and is being funded by a non government organization. This aspect gives the memorial little added authority. The memorial recognizes the thirty two divisions from Texas that fought in the Civil War. Since being that it is located in Texas, it is relevant to this location. Now, for what the memorial did wrong. Ever since the memorial was announced the local NAACP branch has protested it. Also, it is being built near a highway. Though organizers checked ... The creation of Cubism was a result of his collaboration with the French artist Georges Braque. ( Pablo , 2017) The painting Les Demoiselles d Avignon was created in 1907 and exhibited for the first time in 1916.WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT UNIT 7 4 Discussion By the time of his death, Paul Cézanne was highly admired as an artist. He did not have the time to finish the painting The Large Bathers , which was exhibited in a posthumous homage to him a year later after his death. As such, many of the young artists in Paris at that time saw the painting as a strong inspiration and creative challenge. Both Matisse and Picasso were influenced by Cézanne s last painting. Matisse s Bonheur de Vivre is similar to The Large Bathers in some aspects: it depicted nude figures in nature. The main difference, when compared with Cézanne s work, is the difference in scale. Matisse shifted the scale in what appears to be in a random way. As an example, there are two human bodies next to each other that have different scales. The same does not occur with Cézanne s work. Another difference is that Matisse used bright colors that did not match with reality. (Harris Zucker, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The essay will describe F.W. Taylor s early work life and techniques of scientific management and its success. It will then go on to discuss the production methods at Ford Motors prior and post the application of the management principles along with their benefits and criticisms. Due to this, the worker s level of motivation and drive to do better would escalate leading to overall productivity of the organization (Salimath and Jones, 2011, p.88). Taylor furthermore emphasized on this method as it reduced the time taken between each activity since each worker was limited to doing a precise task. Thus, the worker was able to complete the job in the least possible time and reduce wastage. Along with improved efficiency, Taylor used scientific management techniques to make sure proper utilization of resources is taking place and wastage is being kept to a minimum (Salimath and Jones, 2011, pp. 85 86). Taylorism can be seen as an evident feature in several production based industries especially organizations specializing in automotive manufacturing. One of the key practitioners of Taylor s management principles was Henry Ford, founder of Ford Motor Company. Initially at Ford motors, production used to take place by keeping the vehicle at one position and making the workers move in and about gathering the several parts together. This method unfortunately was a very tedious and time consuming process. In view of this fact, Henry Ford appointed Taylor to monitor the operations taking place. Finding Ethiopian friends who share the same interest as me, understand their culture, practice their languages, and have interest in returning back to Ethiopia someday, has always been a struggle for me. Most of the Ethiopians who I meet are Americanized. When I was studying at NIU, I was blessed to have a small circle of Ethiopians who grew up there. Spending time with me made me feel secure, like I actually belonged. Lucky for me, I am also a part of the African community. There are 53 countries in Africa; however, there is an unbreakable bond that is seen amongst Africans around the world. In order to vote in state, local, or federal elections, citizens are required to be registered by a certain date before the election. People can register in person, by visiting a state affiliated election facility, or by mailing their registration forms, postmarked no later than the registration date. Additionally, only 31 states including the District of Columbia give voters the option of registering online. Considering this fact and that we are living in an age with great technological advances, 31 states is far too few. Hence, New York s inability to modernize voter registration and reach out to new voters effectively lowers the number of registered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The bad news is that all of these policies need to be approved by the state legislature which notoriously has had a track a record for stalling and not allowing many of these changes to be implemented. For instance, in 2014 the Democrat controlled State Assembly passed legislation that would establish 2 weeks of early voting, but the Republican controlled State Senate blocked the legislation from passing. Similarly, the battle for same day registration in the state legislature has been ongoing since 1988, when current Governor Andrew Cuomo s father, Mario Cuomo was the Governor of New York and had suggested making registration deadlines as late as possible. He had also appointed a special task force to study voter turnout and come up with a solution to resolve low voter turnout. The special task force ultimately proposed implementing same day registration to the state legislature. The existing power struggle between Democrats and Republicans in the state government have made it all, but impossible for voter registration reform. • 16. Figurative Language In Harry Hume s The Cough By Harry Hume The Cough Harry Hume s short story The Cough uses figurative language to show that the father works as a miner and as a result is getting sick but cannot stop working as his job is the only thing keeping the family afloat. The diction used in this micro story illustrates how the father s job as a miner seeps into every part of their life. The personification of the cough sets out to illustrate the father s illness not as something evil or destructive, but simply as a nuisance. The symbolism of the Orrery demonstrates how the author views their father s sickness as the core of his world, responsible for making their lives function. Hume s is able to show an entire family s state and story in a few paragraphs by using carefully selected words and literary devices to make the reader infer the information rather than say it explicitly. The personification of the cough shows that it is such a constant presence in the family s life that it almost acts as a family member. The description of the cough behaving like a child both makes the reader view the cough as a member of the author s family and implies that the author does not view the cough as necessarily malignant. However, the cough is a nuisance much like a little kid is a nuisance because it is always hungry and demand[ed] attention. The cough being always hungry makes the reader think of a little kid wanting food rather than a lung disease that forces the father to constantly cough and the cough demand[ing] attention makes the reader think of a pesky child rather than the constant sounds of the father coughing. These descriptions fit in with the personification of a child and make the reader see the cough as more of a helpless thing that needs to be taken care of rather than insidious and evil. The personification of the cough as a child also acts as if the author sees the cough as a part of the family, both emphasizing its constant presence and the author s almost benign view of the cough. The imagery used in The Cough illustrates the father s life as a miner. The father is first described as walking down Ash Alley, which both makes the reader visualize a gray and dingy alleyway while also drawing from the same imagery of a ... • 18. How Is Atticus Finch Courageous Courage is an interesting word. Courage can be a feeling or an act. In the novel To Kill a Mockibngbird the characters Mrs Dubose, Tom Robinson and Atticus Finch all demonstrate what true courage really is. The first character I will discuss is Mrs Dubose. Mrs Dubose is a very old woman battling an illness and a morphine addiction. Secondly, I will discuss Tom Robinson. Tom is a black man who is (falsely) accused of rape by Mayella Ewell. Finally I will explain why Atticus Finch is courageous. Atticus is the father of the novel s narrator Scout or Jean Louise Finch. All three characters demonstrate great bravery throughout the novel, each have their hardships and each try to push through the adversity to their best ability. To begin, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a reader, I found Atticus to be the most courageous character in the novel. The reasons behind this statement are that Atticus defends a black man in court, he stands up to the lynch mob in front of the jailhouse and because he can fight without words. First, Atticus is very valorous for taking the Tom Robinson case. For a white man to be acquainted with a black man who was not his slave was rather sporadic. Even after all of the physical and verbal abuse Atticus took he kept his word and defended Tom for all he was worth. I can t stay here all day and this summer is going to be a hot one. (Atticus, Page 128) As a reader, this was the greatest act of courage executed in the novel. For Atticus to risk his respect, family and life to protect a black man took great bravery and sacrifice. Secondly, Atticus protected Tom from he lynch mob at the jailhouse. As the men poured out of the car towards Atticus, he was undaunted buy the moving shadows approaching him. In ones and twos, men got out of the cars. Shadows became substance as lights revealed solid shapes moving toward the jail door. Atticus remained where he was. (Scout, Page 152 153) Atticus fearlessly confronted the mass of angry men and reasoned with them until there is an interruption courtesy of Scout. This event proves that Atticus is very brave because he came up against a whole mob and did not back down. Finally, Atticus is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dystopian Similarities Between 1984 And Hunger Games Rishabh Engineer Mrs. Schroder English IV Honors 26 April 2018 The Comparison of Dystopian Aspects within 1984 and Hunger Games George Orwell s novel 1984 created a bleak future where there was little to no hope. Such a society can be classified as dystopia, a utopia with dark aspects. Dystopian works are a subgenre of literature that highlights major ethical and humane issues by creating a fictionalized setting where such issues can be seen. Dystopian literature has recently been popularized through many modern authors such as Suzanne Collins and Veronica Roth; however, earlier examples, such as 1984, can be seen as far back as mid 20th century. First person narration does not only provide a realistic depiction of the protagonists life, but it allows for the ideological revelations the protagonist realizes throughout the novel. Both Katniss and Winston were first compliant with the governing system, however, through reflection, they realized the burdens and constraints the government put upon them. From Katniss Mockingbird movement in book two and three, to simple illegal acts, such as Winston s purchase of a diary. The willingness to rebel while knowing the consequences not only displays the displeasure of the protagonists, but exemplifies the magnitude of their displeasure. The crisis was triggered by the bursting of a housing bubble (Mishel, Bivens, Gould, Shierholz, 2012). It was characterized by massive withdrawal of investors from markets as a result of reduced confidence, volatile world stock markets and reduced liquidity for banks which were unable to offer or obtain credit. Some financial institutions were facing the risk of collapse. Governments around the world rushed to save these institutions and cushion their economies from the economic crunch through what were popularly referred to as economic stimulus programs. Because the accident happened in France, no British charges can be laid against the photographers. However, nine were charged with manslaughter in France, but the charges were thrown out in 2002. Three photographers Jacques Langevin, Christian Martinez and Fabrice Chassery were convicted of invasion of privacy for taking pictures of Princess Diana and were each fined one euro in 2006. Of course it is obvious that the public is intensely curious to know more about celebrities, but don t you think celebrities have the right to be private? First of all, let us define who the paparazzi are and what they do for a living. A paparazzo is a photographer who takes pictures of athletes, actors, celebrities, politicians etc... on a daily basis. As a matter of fact, paparazzi s tend to chase celebrities wherever they go. Whether it was to the Academy Awards, shopping at a mall, or even going to the gym. Nowadays the paparazzi are going way beyond the limits and are becoming more likely bizarre. • 35. The Sculptures And Frescoes Of Women The sculptures, carvings, and frescoes of women that we have in the ancient world I think make it hard to get an exact depiction on what the roles and statues of women really were. There are a lot of archeologists that devote their lives to the study of reading these paintings. I feel like most of the time even the experts guess could be as good as a novice because even with art sometimes there are hidden meanings that only the artist knows. Although most of these sculptures and frescoes seem to have so much detail that make it easier for us to at least try and depict what their meanings are. The sculptures help us go back in time and figure out what our ancestors went through to get us to where we are now. I think sculptures, carvings, and frescoes of the ancient world show how women are very supportive and submissive to their husbands, took on more feminist roles in their communities, and show their statues based on how they dressed. In most pictures of women from the ancient world they seem to be shown as being very supportive of their husbands. Although women now are supportive of their husbands, it seems as though in the pictures this was only a one way support system. There was one statue made which was shown in our book, The Humanistic Tradition, where the queen is standing next to the king with her arms around him (Fiero, 2006, p. 24). I think this picture is a great example of how women might have been the emotional support for their husbands. The picture shows ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The other side of this trade off is that the company will need not worry about defective products as this automated assembly has excellent precision and will be assembled with little to no defects. The other trade off will be the fact that employees will lose their jobs at the hands of this new technology as their jobs will become obsolete because of this new robotic technology. Greenwise currently is dealing with a large amount of damaged products that are being returned to them by vendors and consumers because of transportation issues. By adding more employees to the field to examine our products as they arrive at the vendors will help us determine the appropriate packing requirements for the solar powered watch Our company can eliminate this by adding inspection specialists in the field that will allow for inspection of the products when they arrive to the vendor to ensure that quality is still intact when they arrive. The short story by Tobias Wolff portrays a man named Anders being shot during a bank robbery after ignoring the threats of the robbers (In Text Cite). Through descriptions of the protagonist and his speech with other characters, Anders shows signs of schizophrenia. Before the shooting, the narrator describes Anders and his interactions with other people at the bank. In the first paragraph, Anders looks at the two women in front of him with a murderous temper (In Text Cite) and is described as criticizing books with savagery (In Text Cite). Anders is also angry with the girl in front of him when she whines about the teller closing their window, telling her she is overdramatic. Most people would be slightly annoyed with these interactions, but murder would never come to mind. The robbers and their interaction further support the idea that Anders is crazy. When the robbers enter the bank, they wearing blue business suits. Blue often represents sadness, which is a common symptom burdened upon those with schizophrenia. When the robbers begin threatening the hostages, Anders tells the woman, Great script, eh? (In Text Cite). This line shows an inappropriate response to the threat presented. Travels Of A T-Shirt In The Global Economy Summary Pietra Rivoli, the author of The Travels of a T Shirt in the Global Economy, utilized her personal investigation of how the t shirt was created (Rivoli, X). By her putting herself in the different locations where the shirt process is made, truly provides an eye opening view on the situation. Rivoli saw how researches would simply collect statistical data but not have personal observations on what was happening. There are many people who are looking at sweatshops from afar and assuming only negative aspects about them. Granted, while sweatshops by all means are not a luxurious work environments, there are components that the economic and politic data is not able to fully capture. Throughout Rivoli s book, there is the central theme that poorer countries could be relatively improved by the opportunities that they are provided with the jobs in the process of manufacturing a shirt. With that being said, Rivoli presents the other side of what will occur as the result of globalization. One outlook could be from a business one: the shirts are cheaper because there is more work that is being down, the consumers will be pleased that they do not have to pay more for their shirt (90). • 39. Importance Of Psalm 116 Psalm 116 is a great read for us as Christians and for us as moms. Psalms 116 speaks of the benefits and blessings of God s Word. But, in order to get the benefits and blessings of the Word we must first study, meditate, and walk out the passages. My greatest motivation for keeping God s Word close to my heart and my study game strong is my children. At some point our children will leave us, they will leave our homes and start their own, they will leave a piece of our family as they marry and begin their own. How refreshing is it to know that the wisdom and discretion they learn from God s Word is able to protect and guard them even when we can t be with them. Here s the question though, how will our children learn of God s Word? Let s dive in, start off by reading Psalm 116:9 16. 9.How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. 10. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. 11. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you 12.Praise be to you, O Lord; teach me your decrees. 13. With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth. 14. I rejoice in following your statues as one rejoices in great riches. 15. I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. 16. I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word. 1. • 40. Cognitive Therapy For Psychological Disorders The main premise of psychological disorders are rooted from how an individual understands and takes things into perspective, and how well they are able to regulate their emotions depending on different circumstances (Nature Neuroscience, 2007). There are numerous types of emotional illnesses that can be treated by very precise talking treatments. For instance, psychodynamic therapists are based off of Freud s theory s, so they help people deal with things such as addictions, eating disorders and depression by considering how previous experiences have been taken into your thought process and dealings the current time. Cognitive therapists look at how we think and how we act in response to those thoughts in either a negative or positive way. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is a frequent occurrence where therapy does not work to its complete potential due to multiple reasons. For instance, there are a lot of pre conceptions, as therapists will frequently help based on books and what they already know as opposed to what the specific person is in need of, as each person takes things differently. A relationship also has to be formed before therapy will start to proceed, and the only way to form a proper relationship is with trust and trust takes a while to form, especially if the person has a lot of walls and has been hiding themselves for years before actually seeking help. As this is such a hard task to fulfill, the patient will tell the therapist what they want to hear not what they actually feel, therefore making the journey to bettering themselves longer. In some cases the patient doesn t even want to be getting therapy in the first place, which will also cause them to act out and lie and separate themselves even farther from the therapist. We are shown these occurrences in Good Will Hunting when Will was first forced to go to therapy. The first few times he would act out, joke around and lie about experiences. The only time therapy actually started to work was when he and Sean, his therapist, formed a special relationship in which Will trusted him enough to open up and tear down his walls. Another reason why talk therapy isn t always successful is because therapy takes a lot of time and the patient might get discouraged if they don t see immediate results. An additional reason why therapies are an inefficient development is because the patient may have a lot of set backs, due to the inconsistency in their minds, and their environments as the therapists goal is to change the person, not the environment, which what we re a main ... But how do we know where the species originate? Phylogenies help to show us how all kinds of species are related to each other, and why. These relationships are put into what can be called a cladogram, which links species to common ancestors, in turn showing where, when, how, and why these ancestors diverged to form new species. Without phylogenies, it would be extremely difficult to put species in specific categories or relate them to one another. Along with phylogenies can come conflict on which species should be related to one another. This conflict causes many hypotheses and experiments, which can lead to phylogenetic retrofitting, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The parareptile hypothesis is taken back at least two decades. It has recently been rediscovered and contradicted by parsimony. Bayesian inferences support this parareptile conclusion, but parsimony concludes the idea of turtles being a sister group to pareiasaurs, which is an anapsid group, including Eunotosaurus. To test these hypothesis, a multitude of data is compiled to observe the stability behind the inferences made. In this article, one main experiment was discussed through the collection and analysis of two retrofitted matrices, phylogenetic analyses, and molecular scaffolds. In one matrice, Eunotosaurus was added to a diapsid focused data set, while turtles were added to an anapsid focused data set. The diapsid sets included a broad sampling of diapsids, which placed turtles as sisters to sauropterygians. The anapsid set, on the other hand, included a broad sampling of anapsids, especially parareptiles. Turtles were not included in the anapsid set. When the experiment moves on to the phylogenetic analysis, Bayesian inferences and parsimony were brought into the mix. After these analyses, the experiment finally includes molecular scaffolding. The effect of molecular scaffolding was to see where extant linneages interact with molecular phylogenies. The, the Bayesian and parsimony analyses were again repeated with these backbone constraints while everything else is indifferent. The idea ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Feminism And Cyberfeminism Cyberfeminism is an offset of feminism characterized as a range of theories, debates, and practices about the relationship between gender and digital culture (Daniels 102). While this definition addresses some of the most basic ideas associated with Cyberfeminism, it is not actually a theory with a universally accepted definition, but rather centers on a number of central ideas and practices. However, it is generally accepted that the preliminary concepts of cyberfeminism, namely the idea of a cyborg, were presented by Donna Haraway in her 1984 piece A Cyborg Manifesto. While her article was written in the mid 80 s, Cyberfeminism achieved popularity in the late 80 s and 90 s in relation to the blossoming technological advances, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The goal of adopting the cyborg figure is to lessen such power, in order to create a society in which those with partial or contradictory identities may embrace those identities proudly, without fear of policing or invisibility (295). One tactic recommended in this Manifesto, and later echoed in various Cyberfeminist works, is irony. Irony, according to Haraway, is so effective because it draws attention to pieces that do not fit neatly into a larger whole, as well as the tensions that arise from holding incompatible things together because all are necessary and true (291). In fact, it s these tensions themselves, the consequences of hardships of living a hybrid life that become the focus of some later Cyberfeminist works, such as the struggle between the physical and the non physical, or between the physical body and an online persona. What remains central, however, is Haraway s insistence that such an examination of tension, or benefit, never become totalizing. One cannot rely on essential unity (295) to define or understand something, especially something as complex as a board crossing, boundary dissolving cyborg. That idea carries over to Cyberfeminist activism, ideology, and theory.
