North Korea Threat
North Korea is known for its nuclear capabilities, but there was a new threat introduced to the United
States coming from North Korea the Cyber Threat. Kim Jong Un was very aware of computers and
the internet. Since Jong Un uses computers he is aware of the threat that the pose to the world. Kim
Jong Un encourages North Korea hackers to develop threat attack virus, and malware against South
Korea and the United States. Cyber attacks occur on a daily basis against the United States and South
Korea. Oftentimes there is an attack is against the United States government approximately every
hour. If the Unties States gets attack with an internet virus it will be a devastating event.
North Korea cyber attack capabilities have increased in the last few years, with the approval of Kim
Jong Un. A cyber attack conducted by the North Korea military is likely to occur in the future. The
hackers were given prior targets to set up attacks against. The list includes the following:
transportation networks, nuclear power plants, electrical power plants, water treatment facilities and
government organizations. This list is the top priority for the North Korean hackers, disrupting

The attack was comprised of hackers getting into the Sony entertainment industries business emails,
and personal emails. This information was leaked all over the world. Prior to this attack North Korea
stated its dissatisfaction over a movie being filmed about North Korea. The move did not depict the
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in a good light, this caused a great bit of unhappiness in North
Korea. North Korea denied taking credit for the attack, but it seems similar to attack that have
occurred in the past. The aftermath was that the United States increased sanctions on North Korea, to
show the country that cyber attacks will be taken

A Study On The Oriental Market Essay
It is quite surprising that I found an oriental market in Lincoln. In my imagination, big city like New
York, California is more diverse than a small city like Lincoln. As a business student, it also triggers
my curiosity on how the business survives in a place, where not many Asians were living. To satisfy
my curiosity in the business, I decided to take a trip to explore the oriental market. The oriental market
is located at 612 N 27th St, Lincoln. Outside the store, there is a spacious space that let the customers
to park their vehicles. There is lift truck, and a stack of old pallets. As I entered the store, the cashiers
greeted me. The first sight that I saw as I entered the store was the beverages were surrounded along
the cashier counter. It was a shield to protect the cashier counter. The environment, decorations, and
smell of the store gave me a sense of familiarity, which is like the store in my hometown. At the left
side of the shop, there was a row of refrigerator along the wall. In each refrigerator, it included various
brands of beverages, ice creams, meats, vegetables, mushrooms and frozen foods. First column
contained garlic, onions, potatoes, and other vegetables. Second column contained mostly all the
cooking pastes, and some mixed herbs. Third column contained spices, like dried chili. Fourth column
contained various types of sauces. Fifth column contained soy sauce, sesame oil, oyster sauce, and
more. The last column was mostly instant noodles, where

Essay on 3 General Orders
Three General Orders
On June 21, 2011 Spc Brown and I were on CQ duty. 1SG, the SDO and the Platoon Sergeants
conducted a walkthrough of the unit s footprint. When they entered I was laid back at the desk
watching a movie, on my phone and had my boots on the desk. I did not immediately stand up or yell
AT EASE when she entered or exited the building. She also noticed that I wasn t writing the log down
correct and didn t log Spc Brown out when he left for dinner chow. 1SG asked if I had read the
memorandum and my 3 General Orders. I quickly responded Negative 1Sg I do not. Upon them

If relief doesn t come before tour of duty is done then Soldiers will not leave post until told so by the
SDOIC or the commanding officer. The guard is responsible for everything that occurs within the
limits of their post while they are on duty. He is also responsible for all equipment and property
located within the limits of his post. The exact limits of his post are defined by special orders. The
special orders should also include every place a guard must go to perform his duties. Guards
immediately investigate unusual or suspicious actions of others on or near their post provided that they
don t have to leave his post to do so. If necessary, the guard will contact the SDOIC or commanding
officer for further instructions. Example: Sgt Hunt and his CQ runner PV2 Tyler were on duty on 28
Jan 2011. Sgt Hunt went to do his routinely night inspections of the barracks that was instructed by his

went to dinner without any regards to his NCO and the orders given to him. Within not

Compare And Contrast Steamboat And Telegraph
Steamboat and Telegraph
The following presentation encompases two major historical milestones in the development of
american engineering and ingenuity. The first being the development of the steam engine and the
second the invention of the telegraph.
It s the 1800s and industrialization is thriving throughout America. People are moving away from an
agricultural way of life, moving into cities, developing arts and trades and trying to expand their
boundaries of who, where and how they can trade marketable items. In trying to reach more and more
customers at further and further distances the ability to travel further in less time creates a demand. In
this time period most of the trade routes revolved around rivers as this was the easiest method of
transportation and the mighty Mississippi being the largest trade route. However, the problem with
traveling the Mississippi or any riverway at this time is that you are at the mercy of the wind and
currents. At this time you travelled by boat with full sail and could not maneuver against tides or a
poor wind. There was a need to create something that could deal with this dilemma. More and more
inventions and machines are being created. With these inventions it becomes effortless to complete
painstaking tasks. The effect of this is tade becoming more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the 1800s information would take weeks if not months to be sent and delivered in order to gain
small to vital bits of information. In those times obtaining or sending information was tedious and
slow, using methods like a letter, pigeons, or messengers. These tactics were unsafe and not secure for
vital governmental information. Samuel Morse a graduate of Yale University is credited with the
invention of Morse code (a code invented by him and named after him) and the invention of the

Analysis Of The Articles Of Confederations
The Constitution may be one of the greatest accomplishments of our time, facilitating great progress
between the states while uniting our country as one. The constitution establishes firm laws that
encompass our main beliefs as a nation such as freedom, equality and justice. Under this new form of
government, firm laws will be emplaced in order to ensure the beliefs that America stands for.
As of now, the Article of Confederations are not serving our needs, causing divisions between the
states. We are acting as small separate nations, rather than a whole. Disagreements are rising between
the states and congress, conflict and controversy are becoming prominent. We need to make a change!
Right now, the Articles of Confederation has no way to ensure that the laws created by congress are
being passed. However, with the new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Persuasive Essay On Heroism
Heroism doesn t include fame, it includes selflessness. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light
can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. ~ Martin Luther King Jr. People don t
have anything to gain from being a hero from others, that s what being a hero is, stepping up and
giving others help with nothing to gain. An act of selflessness. Heroism is a big part of America, it s
the most famous thing that America is about, freedom, and selflessness. People fighting for what they
believe is right, even if others don t believe it s right. Martin Luther King Jr. had fought for what he
believed was right, not just for him, but for others as well, even if it meant putting his life on the line.

Most people looked at it as if it were enticing them for even more violence, but his intention was to
unite the people of the thirteen colonies. This created a militia that didn t just have soldiers on the
battlefield, but in all areas of the thirteen colonies. Even the little things can grow into bigger and
bigger pieces of inspiration, and inspiration can breed curiosity and hope. All those combined can
make a big difference that is beneficial for both sides.
Heroism, a very opinion based definition. Rebels can be heroes, although anti rebels can be heroes as
well. Whoever wins is considered a hero, although the true hero is who wanted to help everyone,
including the opposite side. You can t consider yourself a hero if you don t have courage, bravery or
kindness, because as said above, darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. A common
misconception about being a hero is that heroes are loved, although if you look at the greatest heroes,
they made a legacy, even when they re time has passed. Thinking about now is not good enough for
heroes, they go beyond their limits and think about the future. I have a dream that my four little
children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by
the content of their character. ~Martin Luther King Jr.
As said in the paragraph above, heroism is opinion based, because it s what you believe is true, but

Analysis Of Nietzsche s Exegesis Of Christianity
One obtains the contextual meaning of moral acid by agglutinating the terms corrupt , décadence and
rotten.
Commentary: Christianity corrupts the natural faculties of man that are intellectually more vigorous,
that are the highest intellectual values, considering them as full of temptation, sinful or misleading.
Christianity destroys the intellect. If considered the generalization given by Nietzsche there is the risk
of to staying away of your conceptualization. One should remember that Nietzsche did not make a
exegesis of Christianity, but only he analyzes the interpretation of Christianity to which he had access.
To Nietzsche commentators, he condemns all Christianity doctrine and morality, however, Nietzsche

Virtù occurs eight times in Will of Power and one time in AntiChrist, Beyond Good and Evil, Twilight
of Idols, Ecce Homo.
Virtù: virtue in its primitive signification is manliness, what preeminently distinguishes the full grown
and strong man from the feebler members of his own race; it is the power of resolute, strenuous,
persevering conflict and resistance. Virtù denotes not simply a human being, but a man endowed with
all appropriate manly attributes. [APPMMP Andrew Preston Peabody, (1811 1893), A manual of moral
philosophy, New York, Chicago: A. S. Barnes and company, 1873]
But, what is virtù for Nietzsche?
Nietzsche does not define the term, but he is clear. In Will to Power, by citing the example of
somebody that feels be born for something better that the work he does, Nietzsche introduces virtù as
have a certain kind of capacity and to use it and gives the origin: this is virtu in the Italian style of the
Renaissance, [FNWP12] that borrows of Voltaire: who understood umanita in the sense of the
Renaissance, as also virtu (as higher culture). It is virtue free from all moralic

The Fourth Industrial Revolution And Its Impact On The...
The Fourth Industrial Revolution builds on the Digital Revolution, representing new ways in which
technology becomes embedded within societies and even the human body. Industry 4.0 introduces
what has been called the smart factory, in which cyber physical systems monitor the physical
processes of the factory and make decentralized decisions. The physical systems become Internet of
Things, communicating and cooperating both with each other and with humans in real time via the
wireless web. Internet of Things (IoT) is one of the pillars in Industrial revolution 4.0. The Internet of
Things involves connecting the internet to everyday items in order for them to send, receive and
process data. This can lead to a decrease in production time, aid risk management and will save
manufacturers valuable resources such as time and money. Electronic tattoo is a device under Internet
of Things in health care. Electronic tattoo is the device which is thinner than a human hair, to monitor
vital signal. The reason they re called tattoos is that their application is similar to those in children s
fake tattoos. It usually starts out on a sheet of plastic, is then applied to the skin and rubbed on from
outside the plastic, then the plastic is peeled away, leaving only a very thin, rubber patch that has a
layer of flexible silicon wires. With the tattoo, all the electronic parts are built out of wavy, snake like
components, which mean they can cope with being stretched and squeezed. There are also tiny solar
cells which can generate power or get energy from electromagnetic radiation.
In addition to sensors, the electronics package can contain wireless networking capability, so they can
not only convey sensor data easily, but also be controlled from a remote computer or smartphone. It
functions as wearable electronic devices and replace traditional medical devices like heart monitors
and provide higher quality data. For instance, smaller, less invasive sensors could be especially useful
for monitoring premature babies or for studying patients with sleep apnoea without them wearing
wires through the night.
While most of them are based on thin metal films, a silicon membrane, or nanoparticle based printable
inks, we report

Dying for Love in Of Love and Other Demons by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Based on part of the XVIII century, when the prevalent times of the Spanish Inquisition dominated the
powers of the society and the people was ruled by an orthodox way of thinking, Gabriel Garcia
Marquez gives birth to Of Love and Other Demons . According to The American Heritage Dictionary,
Inquisition was a former Roman Catholic tribunal established to suppress heresy. The term Heresy
originally meant a belief that one arrived at by oneself (Greek hairesis, choosing for oneself ), and it is
any religious doctrine opposed to the dogma of a particular church, especially a doctrine held by a
person professing faith in the teachings of that church. Surrounded by ... Show more content on

African slaves in the courtyard of her father s mansion raised Sierva Maria, a white girl with the roots
of a high status society position. Completely different cultures were inculcated to her. She worshiped
African gods, spoke Yoruban and African languages and though radically different to his parents. With
a bell in her wrist, Sierva Maria used to remind the hate and fright that Bernarda had for her. She was
so distant to where her virtual real home was that she even put herself a new name: Maria Mandinga,
giving meaning to the darkness of soul found sometime in Sierva Maria.
The Marquis, Don Ygnacio de Alfaro y Duenas, spent most of his life as a non living human, a useless
virgin that did not show any signs of life until he met Olalla de Mendoza. He could have had whatever
he wanted and be anything he would ve wanted to, since his father had the power to do it. He was
interested in nothing, not even in his daughter, even though she was the result of an abrupt strategy of
Bernarda s father to engage him for life. Moreover, Bernarda did not care about anything either. She
found her path through other ways of life and her daughter and husband were total unknown persons
to her. Judas Iscariote meant a lot in her life. He also represents the betrayal to the closest people that
were in Bernarda s life.

Accomplishments During The Renaissance
The renaissance is one of the most fascinating and unique periods of European history. It began in
Italy about 1350 and in the rest of Europe after 1450 and lasted until about 1620. Furthermore, the
renaissance is a historical event known as the period of the revival of art, literature, and learning in
Europe. The name Renaissance originates from several Italian Scholars in the early 15th century that
used the term rinascità ( rebirth or renaissance ) to describe their own age as one in which learning,
literature, music and the arts were reborn after a long, dark Middle Ages. (The Columbia
Encyclopedia,2016). Likewise, it was also the time of the Humanism. The intellectual movement
called humanism focused on human life and its achievements. The humanists were fascinated by
cultures of ancient Greece and Rome.
Music is an art that appears in all cultures all over the world. Moreover, during the Renaissance, vocal
music was more dominant than instrumental music, and composers wrote music to enhance the
meaning of the text. In fact, music played a significant role in society during this period as it helped to
shape, advance cultures and was an essential part of civic, religious, and courtly life. The new ideas in

Music publishing did not begin on a large scale until the mid 15th century when mechanical
techniques for printing music were first developed. Many of the Renaissance printers who played an
important role in the advance of printing were also accomplished musicians, composers, and
distributed music. This was the first stages of music being made widely available to the public. Earlier,
music had to be copied out by hand which was a very labor intensive and time consuming process, so
it was usually undertaken only by priests that were seeking to preserve sacred music for the church. In
other words, printing was a much cheaper

Discrimination Against Hispanics
Discrimination against Hispanics
I chose this topic because it s very interesting. I think that we all know that discriminating someone by
their religion, color or nationality is illegal. According to the Civil Rights Act of 1964, its illegal to
against a person based on his/her color, religion, sex, disability, and national origin. But this doesn t
mean its all over and the problem is solved, it may reduce the discrimination but not enough to
eliminate it. Discrimination in the work, purposely or accidentally, not just harms the workers work
knowledge, but it exposes the company to a lawsuit for violating the laws that defend races and
groups. Discrimination against the smaller groups, based on color, race, ethnicity or other groupings,

Heat Movie Analysis
Don t let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you
feel the heat around the corner. Robert De Niro s famous line playing the criminal Niel McCauley sets
the tone for Michel Mann s Heat. Mann is able to have high octane action one would expect from a
crime movie while displaying intimacy in the main characters. The combination of the two is what
makes the film a crime drama (even though Michael Mann argues that it doesn t belong to a genre).
That intimacy is what makes Heat memorable. Mann creates the intimacy in a number of ways:
through types of shots such as close ups and zoom ins, the score and the soundtrack, his use of
lighting, camera angles, filming locations and use of shadows among others. The utilization of close
ups and zoom ins allows the audience to get to know the characters. It shows the wear and tear on the
characters faces. We can see the pain, the hurt; we re able to feel how tired the characters are from
their deep sighs and the dark circles under their eyes. Michael Mann wants the audience to become as
close to the characters as possible. We are introduced to Al Pacino during a sex scene, that s about as
intimate as the character to audience relationship can get. The intimacy is at an all time high during
the coffee shop scene in which the previously mentioned quote is taken from. Roger Ebert (1995)
stated, The scene concentrates on the truth of Heat , which is that these cops and robbers need

Drezner Reaction Analysis In Daniel W. Drezner s book, Theories of International Politics and
Zombies, Drezner explores the theoretical impact a zombie apocalypse would have on international
relations. In his exploration of ideas, Drezner analyzes the approaches of different types of feminism
disciplines to a zombie apocalypse. The two feminist ideas he explores are liberal feminism and post
structuralist feminism. Drezner however, ignores the idea of a radical feminist approach in a critical
time such as a zombie apocalypse. As an important discipline and idea around feminism, Drezner s
lack of acknowledgement of this idea proves to be hurtful to his argument of the reaction of feminists
as a whole to a potential zombie apocalypse. I will apply radical feminism to a zombie apocalypse to
better understand Drezner s focus on feminism, and contrast these ideas with those explored in the
book. I am to explore the differences between radical feminism and the two feminist theories Drezner
focuses on, liberalism and post structuralism.
Daniel Drezner explains the ideas that many feminist s share: the world is vastly different for women
than it is for men. The gap between the genders is to the detriment of women. Radical feminist would
concur with this point. Radical feminism centers on the idea that the suppression of the female gender
is the main focus of all oppression within the world (Rowland and

Becoming A Christian Single Research Paper
Deciding who you will marry is one of the most important decisions as a Christian single you will

just desire to find the right person, but be that person that we desire to marry. We need to possess the
same qualities and characteristics that we desire to see in our future mate. If we desire to marry

Tobias Wolff s Profound Literature Elements

Tobias Wolff s Profound Literature Elements Many people believe Tobias Wolff is considered much of
a critic mainly because his childhood was affected by his parent s separation. Little by little, he started
to become like a critic until he went to the army. Furthermore, when he came back he became more
pessimistic than critical some might say. His short stories are acknowledged by many readers because
of the true meaning of aspirations some people could think they can make out of it. Some say Wolff
created a new thinking perspective by creating the short story Bullet in the Brain . The reason readers
say that is because the story ends up being more profound that they would have thought when they
read it from the beginning. It all starts off with a negative person who can t keep his mouth shut. Then,
that very same person is shot in the head having his last memories be something unusual that an
average person would not have recalled as their last memory. Although Tobias Wolff lived an unusual
lifestyle, he turns out to write one of the best short stories Bullet in the Brain , by using irony, imagery,
theme, style, and tone all within a few pages; which shows why his childhood affected this writing
piece he has created. In 2001 when the audience read Wolff s short story Bullet in the Brain , they
realized that there were a various amount of meaningful elements. However, there are more critical
than positive elements.

McFarland stood up at the front of the room by the stage area and all the students. When all the
students were seated Mrs. McFarland gave a very brief explanation on what the students would be
doing that day and then they started with a warm up. During the warm up the students started out
galloping around the room to music and when the music stop she would shout of jumping jacks and
the students would do jumping jacks until the music came back on. They did this warm up for about 5
minutes and then went back to their spots and sat down. Mrs. McFarland went back to the front of the
cafeteria and began to talk to the students about what they would be doing. She gave a demonstration
of the triple threat position and then asked the students some questions about what they saw her just

practice some ball handling drills. They used their finger tips to ping pong the ball from hand to hand,

Under Armour Stock Is On Steroids But Investors Want More
Under Armour stock is on steroids but investors want more (Gillespie). Can Under Armour deliver?
This company has been providing a great example for all companies to follow in order to be
successful and attract investors. There are several solid reasons why Under Armour is able to attest to
such a statement. Investors and consumers should invest in the Under Armour Company over the
competition because its success is a result of serving as a great economic and social model for
businesses everywhere. Under Armour is a widely known and financially successful corporation in
today s athletic apparel and performance industry; however nineteen years ago it all began with one
man s vivid idea. Kevin Plank, a young aspiring athlete and special team s captain for the University
of Maryland football team, was the first in 1996 to formulize an idea with purpose to provide athletes
with a shirt to fit their workout and game needs. As any athlete knows cotton is not the best choice for
vigorous activity since this fabric does not dry quickly. This notion is what catapulted Plank s idea. He
put his ideas into motion by creating a blend of fabrics that worked best for the comfort of athletes as
this was his main goal. Plank named his company Under Armour and based it upon one shirt that he
advertised as a tight fitting, moisture wicking t shirt that supports your muscles and regulates your
body temperature (Under Armour, Inc.). He worked determinedly out of his car and his

Reality And Technology In The Veldt By Ray Bradbury
Have you ever thought how much of your life is distracted and even controlled by technology? Ray
Bradbury emphasizes how this debilitating distraction can manifest in the future by writing about it in
the The Veldt. Bradbury uses imagery and characterization to allude to the fact that the use of tech as a
supplementary parenting technique can cause child development problems in many forms. In the
beginning of the story, Bradbury uses imagery like ...you could feel the prickling fur on your
skin...your mouth was stuffed.... Which gives the impression that the difference between reality and
technology are unrecognizable. Ray Bradbury uses imagery and characterization to allude to the fact

In the beginning of the story, Bradbury uses imagery like ...you could feel the prickling fur on your
skin...your mouth was stuffed.... Which gives the impression that the difference between reality and
technology are unrecognizable. The border between ethical enjoyment and living in an artificial reality
is washed away in The Veldt, because of these types of technological advances that caused humans,
especially the Hadley family, to pass the line where technology should not mess with a human s
mental emotions, however a remnant will remain where ethical enjoyment met its boundary which is
signified in the text in the form of, ...we bought this house, so we would not have to do

The Country s Country Music At The Top Of Their Lungs
The duo sped through back roads of their little shore town, belting 90 s country music at the top of
their lungs. The doors of his black 2002 jeep were off and the top was down so the warm summer air
surrounded them on their drive. The breeze swept her long blonde hair out of her freckled face and
into the salty sea air. Brennan admired the way she left it to lay naturally as opposed to many other
girls, but he knew she was never one to do as others did. Her bright blue eyes captivated him, drawing
him in time and time again. Her face was beautifully fresh, free of any makeup or blemishes. He
preferred to see her this way, anyway. Her ratty soccer tee shirt hung off her bare shoulders,
concealing her plain black bikini top. The sun ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ansel Adams s Influence On The Performance Of A Musical...
Ansel Adams was born February 1902 and died in April 1984. His life began in San Francisco,
California. Growing up Adams was quite creative, such as teaching himself the piano, according to
Lamar (1998, p.3), Adams became a serious pianist as a child. Later, he would argue for the
connections between music and photography, calling attention to the importance of tonal gradations
and likening the printing of a negative to the performance of a musical score .
In 1916 his passion for photography began after a trip to Yosemite National Park. Adams personality
was described as hyperactive, and he also had difficulty reading. Due to Adams struggle in school, his
father and aunt began tutoring him, however he never earned a high school diploma. After visiting
Adams creativity expanded beyond anything that could be taught in an educational way, with
Grzymkowski stating that Adams s studies veered into the world of music at age twelve, when he
taught himself to read music and play piano. By the age of eighteen, he was an apt pianist with every
intention of pursuing music as a career. The science and precision of his musical craft later influenced
his photography (Grzymkowski 2013, p.101).
With the assistance of photography magazines, attending camera club meetings, learning darkroom
techniques and visiting photography as well as art exhibits, these all became contributing factors to
Adams eventually selling his early photographs.

Diphenylmethanol Lab Report
CONCLUSION Overall, the experiment result concluded that the initial hypothesis stated that pure
diphenylmethanol would be synthesize from the Grignard reagent phenylmagenisum bromide when
reacted with benzaldehyde would be close to theoretical percent yield of 100% was rejected. The
measured actual mass was 0.99 g of diphenylmethanol which was relatively low to theoretical mass of
2.708 g of diphenylmethanol. This further concluded to quite low percentage yield of 36.56% of final
product diphenylmethanol. As mention earlier, the low percentage yield could be due do many

If a student performing lab 5 accidently used acetone as the reaction solvent instead of diethyl ether
the acetone will react with the Grignard reagent and form a tertiary alcohol. As mention earlier,
Grignard reaction is carried out by a solvent that stabilizes the Grignard reagent. So, diethyl ether are
aprotic as it cannot hydrogen bond with themselves therefore, it is capable to solvate and stabilize the
reagent with the helped of Mg Br bond containing partial positive charge and the diethyl ether C O
bond containing partial negative charge. Whereas, acetone which is a polar solvent as well as aprotic
could not be used because the electrophilic double bond on the carbonyl carbon would attack the
nucleophilic Grignard reagent giving a tertiary product. Acetone is a simplest form of ketone and as
mention earlier, ketone reacted with Grignard reagent form tertiary alcohol as their final product.
Thus, it is very important that the solvent should not only be polar and aprotic as well as have the
ability to stabilize the Grignard reagent by acting as Lewis base. Acetone is not capable of stabilizing
the reagent leading it to react with

Examples Of Signal Detection Theory
S. S. Stevens, who was considered the World s first Professor of Psychophysics, proposed the Signal
Detection Theory. The basic premise of this theory states that perception is not a matter of sensitivity,
but considered in terms of the environment in which the event occurred. Two critical components of
the Signal Detection Theory includes signal, which is considered as the desired stimulus , and noise,
which is the undesired stimulus , or the events in the environment. Within a signal detection task, there
are in total four possibilities or outcomes. These outcomes depend on the presences of a stimulus as
well as a yes or no response. If the stimulus is present and the response is yes , then the task outcome
would be considered a hit. If the stimulus is absent and the response is yes , then the task outcome
would be considered a false alarm . If the stimulus is present and the response is no , then the task
outcome would be considered a miss . Lastly, if the stimulus is absent and the response is yes , then
the task outcome would be considered a correct rejection . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sensitivity involves the intensity of the stimulus and the ability of the observers. It is defined by a
sensitivity index, which is the function of the strength of the signal. Sensory criterion, on the other
hand, is defined as Decision Point or Response Bias tendency to respond in a particular manner. This
depends on the expectation of signal and the observer s motivation. These components are expressed
by Receiver Operating Characteristics (ROC) curves, which d is a value defining the amount of
overlap between noise and stimulus. The larger the d value, the more likely one is going to detect the
stimulus

Caracal Research Paper
Interesting Facts about the Caracal
There are many people who might know much about the caracal; however there are many interesting
facts to note about this cat. The caracal is also known by the name desert lynx, African lynx, Persian
lynx and Asian lynx; however they are not members of the lynx family, rather they are from the
Felidae family.
The name caracal translates to mean black ear, borrowed from the Turkish language. This is because
the caracal has long hairy tufts on the ears, and it is longer than that of other cats. This makes them
noticeable and so when they go hunting, they will often flatten the ears so as to prevent their prey
from noticing them.

becoming independent and may leave their mother shortly after. Once they leave, they will go away to
establish their own territory, living a solitary lifestyle just like other adult caracals.
Conservation of the caracal
The caracals occur in a widely spread manner across various locations in the world and as such they
are not considered to be threatened and they are therefore taken to be of least concern. The main
threats for the caracal come in the form of habitat loss due to climate change and human activities,
being killed by human beings due to the threat they pose to livestock and being killed by larger cats
and other animals that view them as competition for prey such as lions, cheetahs, leopards and hyenas.

Sex has been widely viewed as a taboo topic amongst the pre adolescents and adolescent population.
Many teens around the world are experiencing sexual activity at a more alarming age than ever before

and interventions that can be implemented to help increase the abstinence rate. However, it has been

Educational Psychology Reflection Paper
Over the course of this semester, I have had the opportunity to learn about educational psychology. I
have always enjoyed psychology and was especially interested in how it applied to teaching in the
classroom. There were five specific concepts we discussed over the semester that especially interested
me. I found that homogenous and heterogeneous grouping, extrinsic and intrinsic motivation, operant
conditioning, cooperative learning, and divergent versus convergent thinking are five psychological
concepts that every teacher should learn about in preparation for teaching.
In order to promote the utmost success of students, numerous studies have been conducted to
determine the ideal organization strategies for grouping within classrooms. There are two major types
of grouping, heterogeneous and homogeneous. Heterogeneous grouping can be described as randomly
grouping students together. The teacher does not group based on any specific criteria and attempts to
involve all types of students within each group. In further detail, there may be one student who
overachieves at mathematics and a student that performs below average in mathematics within the
same group. Homogeneous grouping is arranging students together based on their academic
achievement in particular subjects. For instance, a homogeneous group will contain students who are
all around the same reading level. There are two divisions within homogeneous grouping. One is
within class grouping. This means that the students

Why Did Godse Kill Mahatma Gandhi Research Paper

for independence of India from British colonial rule. Why did Godse, someone who revered Mahatma
Gandhi during the movement for India s independence, murder Mahatma Gandhi?
To understand the most popular explanation for why Godse assassinated Mahatma Gandhi, we need to

Another interesting aspect of Godse s life that seems to be overlooked when explaining his motives
for assassinating Mahatma Gandhi is Godse s childhood experiences. Godse was brought up as a girl
for several years until his younger brother was born. He even had a nose ring, which is called nath in
Marathi. Even though his name at birth was Ramachandra, he was called Nathuram because of his
nath . He was brought up in his early childhood as a girl since his parents had three sons who had died
in infancy. In those days, the death of three sons in infancy was viewed as a curse on sons. Since
Godse s parents were very traditional and religious, they raised Godse as a girl for a few years to lift
the assumed curse. None of the sources list the age at which Godse s parents started treating him as a
boy, but it was before he turned nine years old because Godse was nine years old when his second
brother who lived into adulthood was born. Godse s experience as a girl in his early years must have
had a significant impact on his personality. Sigmund Freud s psychosexual stages of development can
be utilized to at partly explain Godse s personality and later behaviors. Godse s personality
development was probably most affected during the phallic stage of Freud s psychosexual stages. The
phallic stage occurs between when a child is between the ages of 3 and 6 and children in this stage

The Banking Concept Of Education Summary
The banking concept of education is a short essay written by Paulo Freire, which describes his views
on inadequate education. The banking concept of education and the problem posing education method
are two teaching methods Freire uses to explain the differences between what is inadequate teaching
and what is not. The banking concept of education is a method of teaching education to students as if
they are depositories and the teacher is the depositor. Students only receive the information from the
teacher to memorize and report. The problem posing education method involves a combination of the
teacher teaching the student and the student teaching the teacher through dialogue. This makes the
classroom environment more interactive. Freire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

those who consider themselves knowledgeable upon those whom they consider to know nothing . This

unfinished, uncompleted beings in and with likewise unfinished reality. The unfinished character of
reality necessitates that education be an ongoing activity . Freire urges to move away the traditional

A Rose For Emily By William Faulkner
In A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner, Faulkner conveys the issue of involving trying to maintain
traditional values and control in a society that is facing a change that is radical and widespread. In this
story, Emily is seen as timeless figure that contradicts a society that is trying to build up a more
efficient, modern lifestyle.
Miss Emily is portrayed as a women who resents change and responds uncomfortably to any force that
tries to change her inhibitions. Her house is a portrait of her mindset with the leather covered furniture
being described as cracked , and the pillow on which the townspeople found her dead body was
yellow and moldy with age and lack of sunlight (par.55). Instead of replacing the furniture with newer
polished one, she chooses to use her dark and dusty home as shield from the modern transformation of
the town.
Miss Emily s refusal to change causes her several disagreements with the local government and law
enforcement. Her rejection to the multiple tax notices causes a burden with the newer generation as
they are unfamiliar with Miss Emily s way of law and conduct. This is privy to Miss Emily s position
as well, as she is unfamiliar with the current change in the local power as she is steadfast in her

fined $200 by the mall for attempting to commit an action against regulations. The fact that we were
fined such a high figure really put my friends and I down. However, I did not stay de motivated for
long, as I immediately set up a meeting with the mall owner, and after long hours of filing paperwork
for confirmation; my friends and I were allowed to hold the fundraiser. After completing that, I
realized that I am a determined person when it comes to a matter which is important to me. In the end,
the fundraiser raised an outstanding $3000. Moreover, I realized that there can be many dilemmas
associated when aiming to reach any goal in life, including goals that I wish to achieve in

Invasion Of The Body Snatchers Analysis
Invasion of the Body Snatchers was made during the Red Scare era where everyone in the United
States was afraid of communism spreading across the country. This film is uniquely demonstrating
how fast something can spread, especially when you let your guard down like they did when they fell
asleep in the movie. The use of the pod in my opinion was to represent how easy it was to plant an
idea in someone s mind. One thing about communism is it grew rapidly kind like how the pods grew
in the movie. It didn t matter what the doc did or where they went someone in the movie always had a
pod right around the corner for when they would go to sleep. That is how fast communism spread
when you least expected it there were people among us ready to change

The Rubik s Cube
How Architecture found Cubes
The Rubik s cube, invented by Erno Rubik, is famously known as the Impossible puzzle.
It was during the summer of my 7th grade that I first stumbled upon the Rubik s cube. The Rubik s
cube is a cube with different colors on all sides. The goal is to be able to return the original look of the
cube, with all the edges and corners corresponding to the center color of each face. People seem to
think the cube is made out of 27 cubes, but it is actually made of a core. The other pieces fit in with
the core to give the look of multiple cubes grouped together.
I remembered the day vividly when I held the glamorous box with the Qi Yi BullFight (Name of the
Rubik s Cube) inside. The cube felt special, it was an experience I had never encountered. Perfect.
Made with care. I momentarily observed the cube, six sides, all with their beautifully covered ... Show

Architecture is the design of a building, just like the bones that make up the structure of a human
being, and the way it forms as a basis for a design. The Rubik s cube is the pencil I use for drawing.
The pencil is occasionally used, and sometimes, left alone. When I am focused, I can solve my
difficulties, calm and controlled. Nevertheless, I can draw my imagination, however hard it maybe.
However, when I am inattentive, it seems like a brick wall is stopping me from my solution. Although
this pencil may cause me to stress out, it can also encourage me to try harder, and seek out the hidden
solution even with the massive brick wall in the way. My love of architecture connects with the cube
because solving problems in puzzles is just like thinking through and designing something. In
addition, whenever I open my vision to the many designs in the world, it brings me back to the Rubik
s cube and architecture. The many designs act like the algorithms in the cube, you sometimes make
errors, and you sometimes

The Effects Of Federal Mandates On Virginia
The Effects of Federal Mandates on Virginia: Americans with Disabilities Act
And the No Child Left Behind Act
Because of the Supremacy Clause, when the National government makes a new law or mandate, states
and local governments must comply Federal mandates are requirements that the national government
imposes on state and local governments. Following these requirements are often a condition for the
state or local governments to receive grants and financial support for various programs. Many of these
mandates come with money attached, but some do not. Requirements imposed on State and local
governments without the Federal government providing funds are called unfunded mandates (Losco,
Baker 53.) Virginia is affected by many Federal Mandates. Two prevalent mandates the state of
Virginia must comply with is the Americans with Disabilities Act and the No Child Left Behind Act.
Virginia has complied with these mandates by creating a system to determine if a person has a
disability, providing accommodations to those with disabilities, and Virginia has reformed its public
education system. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was put into place in 1990 to ensure
that people could not discriminate against those with disabilities. At the end of every war, there were
newly disabled American veterans that wanted improved civil rights and proper accommodations for
the disabled that needed them. In the 1960 s, veterans from World War II, the Korean War, and the
Vietnam War saw

Stop And Frisk Essay
Stop and Frisk started in New York City in the early 1990 s as a combined response to the Broken
Windows sociological theory and the ruling in the Terry v. Ohio case. The initial prompt for this
policy came from the ruling in the 1968 Supreme Court case of Terry v. Ohio. The court decided that
fourth amendment rights are not violated when the police stop, detain, and search a suspect on the
street. This ruling paved the way for early implementation of policies similar, but not as wide spread,
as stop and frisk. This ruling paved the way for early implementation of policies similar, but not as
wide spread, as stop and frisk. This theory alleges that by reducing petty crime you can also deter
more major crime much in the same way as fixing broken windows (which are thought to invite
potential thieves) will prevent future crime. Kelling s theory combined with the Terry v. Ohio ruling
eventually led to the implementation of full blown Stop and Frisk in the New York City area during
the mayoral term of Rudi Giuliani. The idea behind stop and frisk initially was for police officers to
patrol streets in order to stop those they suspected of carrying illegal goods and then frisk them to
ascertain if they were indeed breaking any laws. This would serve duel purposes in that those found to
be carrying illegal goods would be stopped while letting others in the area who may be participating in
illegal activities know that there was an active police presence there, hopefully deterring

Limitations Of Racist Speech
Limits on Racist Speech in Public Contexts
When the first amendment is brought up, one of the first things that comes to mind is free speech.
Even though we don t give it much thought, our free speech does have limits. The more obvious limits
such as knowing that you can t threaten people or shout Fire! in a crowded space make sense because
it s easy to see how they cause direct harm. These general limits are important in order to ensure a safe
and peaceful society, but when it comes to voicing prejudice views, it becomes difficult to determine
what should and should not be restricted by the first amendment. After all, when negative and hurtful
opinions are directed at a specific group of people, it becomes hard to see how protecting them could
be a good thing. The important thing to remember is that when sharing these views becomes harmful
and leads to harassment, it is no longer protected under the first amendment. However, everyone sees
things differently, so drawing the line between what is just offensive and harassment needs to be
determined and treated on a case by case basis. This will not only allow us to come to a solution for
these individual problems, but it leaves room for discussion which will help to combat the root cause
of prejudice.
While trying to think of ways to regulate racist speech, we might think that an easy solution would be
to place a ban on racist speech altogether, but this quickly becomes problematic. Banning specific
opinions and beliefs would no longer make our speech free, and even when people are permitted to
share wrong or offensive opinions, protecting free speech still has more potential benefit than harm.
This gives us the right to speak out against our government when it is doing something we disagree
with, but it also allows people to share their racist views. If we want to continue to reap the benefits,
we also have to accept that racist speech is a part of free speech, thus protected under the first
amendment. This is not the same thing as saying that racist speech should be unregulated; there are
regulations for when hate speech becomes harmful, but the government shouldn t and isn t responsible
for regulating it. The issue of regulating racist speech is a local

Symphony Number 45 in F# Minor (the Farewell symphony )...
Symphony Number 45 in F# Minor (the Farewell symphony )
Between 1761 and 1790 Haydn was employed by the enormously wealthy Esterhazy family who had
two palaces on the borders of Austria and Hungary. The court orchestra was similar to that of many
baroque orchestras two oboes, a bassoon, a string ensemble and a harpsichord. But it also included a
pair of horns instruments that became a regular part of the orchestra thereafter.
It was this orchestra that accompanied operas in the palace theatre and played symphonies twice a
week. Haydn s symphony number 45 in F# minor was first performed in the summer prince Nikolaus

The last movement of the Farewell symphony contains both styles. The presto is stormy, but the
violent mood is restrained by its form. The major mode serenity at the start of the Adagio is later
tinged with minor mode sadness and one of the strangest endings in symphonic music.
Haydn s use of wind instruments is quite different from Bach s and shows how orchestration changed
during the 18th century. Where Bach uses wind instruments to provide melodic lines within his
contrapuntal textures, in this symphony Haydn uses them to add colour or weight to the string parts. In
fact a performance of the presto on strings alone would make perfect sense.
The oboes are used in two ways: they reinforce the violins in loud passages and provide sustained
notes that bind the texture (eg bars 20 24) or give a reedy edge to discords (eg start of bars 25,27 and
29). Although printed on a separate stave in some scores the bassoon simply doubles the cello/bass
part throughout the presto.
Natural horns, like natural trumpets, could play only a limited number of notes. But by requiring the
use of different crooks for the town horns Haydn is able to use a wider number of pitches that would
otherwise have been possible. The horns most important job is to provide harmonic glue for
contrapuntal passages such as bars 20 24 of the finale, where the second horn doubles the first oboe

Altruism And It s Causes
In this paper, I will be discussing the concept of altruism and it s causes in relation to a story of a bus
driver who risked her own life to save the children she was transporting. To achieve this goal I will:
define the necessary concepts (part I), provide examples demonstrating the differing causes of altruism
and how they relate to the event in question (part II), and refer to conducted research which supports
and further describes the actions taken in my chosen event (part III). While there are many persons
who acted altruistically in the following story, I have decided to narrow the scope of this paper to the
acts of one Renita Smith so as to enable a greater level of precision in my attribution and explanation
of the relevant concepts.
Event Summary
Whilst going through her elementary school bus route, Renita Smith, the bus driver, was alerted to a
beeping sound coming from her dashboard before she detected the scent of smoke. Only mere
moments later, the bus, which was carrying 20 children, caught aflame. In the released dashcam
footage, the bus in question can be seen entirely engulfed by a thick, black smoke and fire. Without
waiting to consider options, Smith immediately stopped the bus and began escorting the children off
of it. Surrounding neighbours and drivers ran to the aid of the children, ensuring that they made it a
safe distance away. It was Smith, however, who risked her own life through repeatedly entering the
flaming bus until she was certain that not

Examples Of Supernatural Elements In A Very Old Man With...
In the short story A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, combines both
supernatural and natural events in a confusing, unexpected but yet inspiring way that makes us wonder
how we would respond if a supernatural event had happen in our front yard. From combining an
ordinary day to rainy days and greedy community, with an amazing supernatural, an angel, who takes
in cruelty, strengthen itself and flies away, Marquez successfully uses unique styles and creative tones
to create a short story that would carry essentials of our daily routine in our lives and succeeds. With
the right mindset, Marquez invites us to look closer in our lives and determine whether the normal and
not so normal events could be change.
At the beginning of the story the tone is set with a natural event where a ... Show more content on

For example, when Father Gonzaga notices that the angel was more of a human form than an angel.
Everything we ve vision how an angel would be is the exact opposite of how the old man is presenting
himself. But as we look closely, the old man s character sends us a hint of an angel, which is patience.
From being locked up in a chicken coop and being poked as if he was in a zoo, he deals with the
cruelty and doesn t fight back at all. He sits there and deals with it. This could be a sign of an angel s
quality, dealing with such disturbing cruel treatment in a calm way.
At the end of the story, as the angel deals with such cruelty, he is finally awarded with new feathers. I
believe that the action of story matches the tone and setting. The cold winter is over and a new life is
approaching. Like most angels, the old man s new feathers aren t so impressive, look more like
another misfortune of decrepitude, (Marquez 403) but with new feathers, he is

Comparing The Book Cruel And Unusual
Do you enjoy crime solving books? The book Cruel and Unusual by Patricia Cornwell was published
by pocket star books and was published in 1993. It is 409 pages long. The book starts off when the
Chief Medical Examiner, named Kay Scarpetta, walks into an autopsy of a murderer named Ronnie
Waddell who just got executed. A little bit after the execution a little boy is killed the same way that
Wadell killed people. Waddell s DNA was found near the body. One of Kay s old FBI friends, Benton
Wesley, and a homicide investigator, Pete Marino, help Kay Scarpetta figure out how a deceased
Ronnie Waddell can murder a little boy. I think that Cruel and Unusual was very interesting and
addicting to read. I would recommend this book to teenagers and

  • 3. A Study On The Oriental Market Essay It is quite surprising that I found an oriental market in Lincoln. In my imagination, big city like New York, California is more diverse than a small city like Lincoln. As a business student, it also triggers my curiosity on how the business survives in a place, where not many Asians were living. To satisfy my curiosity in the business, I decided to take a trip to explore the oriental market. The oriental market is located at 612 N 27th St, Lincoln. Outside the store, there is a spacious space that let the customers to park their vehicles. There is lift truck, and a stack of old pallets. As I entered the store, the cashiers greeted me. The first sight that I saw as I entered the store was the beverages were surrounded along the cashier counter. It was a shield to protect the cashier counter. The environment, decorations, and smell of the store gave me a sense of familiarity, which is like the store in my hometown. At the left side of the shop, there was a row of refrigerator along the wall. In each refrigerator, it included various brands of beverages, ice creams, meats, vegetables, mushrooms and frozen foods. First column contained garlic, onions, potatoes, and other vegetables. Second column contained mostly all the cooking pastes, and some mixed herbs. Third column contained spices, like dried chili. Fourth column contained various types of sauces. Fifth column contained soy sauce, sesame oil, oyster sauce, and more. The last column was mostly instant noodles, where ... • 5. Compare And Contrast Steamboat And Telegraph Steamboat and Telegraph The following presentation encompases two major historical milestones in the development of american engineering and ingenuity. The first being the development of the steam engine and the second the invention of the telegraph. It s the 1800s and industrialization is thriving throughout America. People are moving away from an agricultural way of life, moving into cities, developing arts and trades and trying to expand their boundaries of who, where and how they can trade marketable items. In trying to reach more and more customers at further and further distances the ability to travel further in less time creates a demand. In this time period most of the trade routes revolved around rivers as this was the easiest method of transportation and the mighty Mississippi being the largest trade route. However, the problem with traveling the Mississippi or any riverway at this time is that you are at the mercy of the wind and currents. At this time you travelled by boat with full sail and could not maneuver against tides or a poor wind. There was a need to create something that could deal with this dilemma. More and more inventions and machines are being created. With these inventions it becomes effortless to complete painstaking tasks. The effect of this is tade becoming more ... This created a militia that didn t just have soldiers on the battlefield, but in all areas of the thirteen colonies. Even the little things can grow into bigger and bigger pieces of inspiration, and inspiration can breed curiosity and hope. All those combined can make a big difference that is beneficial for both sides. Heroism, a very opinion based definition. Rebels can be heroes, although anti rebels can be heroes as well. Whoever wins is considered a hero, although the true hero is who wanted to help everyone, including the opposite side. You can t consider yourself a hero if you don t have courage, bravery or kindness, because as said above, darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. A common misconception about being a hero is that heroes are loved, although if you look at the greatest heroes, they made a legacy, even when they re time has passed. Thinking about now is not good enough for heroes, they go beyond their limits and think about the future. Virtù occurs eight times in Will of Power and one time in AntiChrist, Beyond Good and Evil, Twilight of Idols, Ecce Homo. Virtù: virtue in its primitive signification is manliness, what preeminently distinguishes the full grown and strong man from the feebler members of his own race; it is the power of resolute, strenuous, persevering conflict and resistance. Virtù denotes not simply a human being, but a man endowed with all appropriate manly attributes. [APPMMP Andrew Preston Peabody, (1811 1893), A manual of moral philosophy, New York, Chicago: A. S. • 10. The Fourth Industrial Revolution And Its Impact On The... The Fourth Industrial Revolution builds on the Digital Revolution, representing new ways in which technology becomes embedded within societies and even the human body. Industry 4.0 introduces what has been called the smart factory, in which cyber physical systems monitor the physical processes of the factory and make decentralized decisions. The physical systems become Internet of Things, communicating and cooperating both with each other and with humans in real time via the wireless web. Internet of Things (IoT) is one of the pillars in Industrial revolution 4.0. The Internet of Things involves connecting the internet to everyday items in order for them to send, receive and process data. This can lead to a decrease in production time, aid risk management and will save manufacturers valuable resources such as time and money. Electronic tattoo is a device under Internet of Things in health care. Electronic tattoo is the device which is thinner than a human hair, to monitor vital signal. The reason they re called tattoos is that their application is similar to those in children s fake tattoos. It usually starts out on a sheet of plastic, is then applied to the skin and rubbed on from outside the plastic, then the plastic is peeled away, leaving only a very thin, rubber patch that has a layer of flexible silicon wires. With the tattoo, all the electronic parts are built out of wavy, snake like components, which mean they can cope with being stretched and squeezed. There are also tiny solar cells which can generate power or get energy from electromagnetic radiation. In addition to sensors, the electronics package can contain wireless networking capability, so they can not only convey sensor data easily, but also be controlled from a remote computer or smartphone. It functions as wearable electronic devices and replace traditional medical devices like heart monitors and provide higher quality data. For instance, smaller, less invasive sensors could be especially useful for monitoring premature babies or for studying patients with sleep apnoea without them wearing wires through the night. While most of them are based on thin metal films, a silicon membrane, or nanoparticle based printable inks, we report ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Accomplishments During The Renaissance The renaissance is one of the most fascinating and unique periods of European history. It began in Italy about 1350 and in the rest of Europe after 1450 and lasted until about 1620. Furthermore, the renaissance is a historical event known as the period of the revival of art, literature, and learning in Europe. The name Renaissance originates from several Italian Scholars in the early 15th century that used the term rinascità ( rebirth or renaissance ) to describe their own age as one in which learning, literature, music and the arts were reborn after a long, dark Middle Ages. (The Columbia Encyclopedia,2016). Likewise, it was also the time of the Humanism. The intellectual movement called humanism focused on human life and its achievements. The humanists were fascinated by cultures of ancient Greece and Rome. Music is an art that appears in all cultures all over the world. Moreover, during the Renaissance, vocal music was more dominant than instrumental music, and composers wrote music to enhance the meaning of the text. • 16. Heat Movie Analysis Don t let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner. Robert De Niro s famous line playing the criminal Niel McCauley sets the tone for Michel Mann s Heat. Mann is able to have high octane action one would expect from a crime movie while displaying intimacy in the main characters. The combination of the two is what makes the film a crime drama (even though Michael Mann argues that it doesn t belong to a genre). That intimacy is what makes Heat memorable. Mann creates the intimacy in a number of ways: through types of shots such as close ups and zoom ins, the score and the soundtrack, his use of lighting, camera angles, filming locations and use of shadows among others. The utilization of close ups and zoom ins allows the audience to get to know the characters. It shows the wear and tear on the characters faces. We can see the pain, the hurt; we re able to feel how tired the characters are from their deep sighs and the dark circles under their eyes. • 18. Analysis Of The Book Theories Of International Politics... Cameron Lurcook Dr. Michael Allen Political Science 306 September 21, 2015 Drezner Reaction Analysis In Daniel W. Drezner s book, Theories of International Politics and Zombies, Drezner explores the theoretical impact a zombie apocalypse would have on international relations. In his exploration of ideas, Drezner analyzes the approaches of different types of feminism disciplines to a zombie apocalypse. The two feminist ideas he explores are liberal feminism and post structuralist feminism. Drezner however, ignores the idea of a radical feminist approach in a critical time such as a zombie apocalypse. As an important discipline and idea around feminism, Drezner s lack of acknowledgement of this idea proves to be hurtful to his argument of the reaction of feminists as a whole to a potential zombie apocalypse. I will apply radical feminism to a zombie apocalypse to better understand Drezner s focus on feminism, and contrast these ideas with those explored in the book. I am to explore the differences between radical feminism and the two feminist theories Drezner focuses on, liberalism and post structuralism. Daniel Drezner explains the ideas that many feminist s share: the world is vastly different for women than it is for men. The gap between the genders is to the detriment of women. Radical feminist would concur with this point. Radical feminism centers on the idea that the suppression of the female gender is the main focus of all oppression within the world (Rowland and ... Tobias Wolff s Profound Literature Elements Adam Khan Mrs.Vedula Engl. 1102 11 November 2015 Tobias Wolff s Profound Literature Elements Many people believe Tobias Wolff is considered much of a critic mainly because his childhood was affected by his parent s separation. Little by little, he started to become like a critic until he went to the army. Furthermore, when he came back he became more pessimistic than critical some might say. His short stories are acknowledged by many readers because of the true meaning of aspirations some people could think they can make out of it. Some say Wolff created a new thinking perspective by creating the short story Bullet in the Brain . The reason readers say that is because the story ends up being more profound that they would have thought when they read it from the beginning. It all starts off with a negative person who can t keep his mouth shut. Then, that very same person is shot in the head having his last memories be something unusual that an average person would not have recalled as their last memory. Although Tobias Wolff lived an unusual lifestyle, he turns out to write one of the best short stories Bullet in the Brain , by using irony, imagery, theme, style, and tone all within a few pages; which shows why his childhood affected this writing piece he has created. In 2001 when the audience read Wolff s short story Bullet in the Brain , they realized that there were a various amount of meaningful elements. When the students walked into the cafeteria they immediately sat down in their assigned spots on the floor, Mrs. McFarland stood up at the front of the room by the stage area and all the students. When all the students were seated Mrs. McFarland gave a very brief explanation on what the students would be doing that day and then they started with a warm up. During the warm up the students started out galloping around the room to music and when the music stop she would shout of jumping jacks and the students would do jumping jacks until the music came back on. They did this warm up for about 5 minutes and then went back to their spots and sat down. Mrs. McFarland went back to the front of the cafeteria and began to talk to the students about what they would be doing. She gave a demonstration of the triple threat position and then asked the students some questions about what they saw her just do. This company has been providing a great example for all companies to follow in order to be successful and attract investors. There are several solid reasons why Under Armour is able to attest to such a statement. Investors and consumers should invest in the Under Armour Company over the competition because its success is a result of serving as a great economic and social model for businesses everywhere. Under Armour is a widely known and financially successful corporation in today s athletic apparel and performance industry; however nineteen years ago it all began with one man s vivid idea. Kevin Plank, a young aspiring athlete and special team s captain for the University of Maryland football team, was the first in 1996 to formulize an idea with purpose to provide athletes with a shirt to fit their workout and game needs. As any athlete knows cotton is not the best choice for vigorous activity since this fabric does not dry quickly. This notion is what catapulted Plank s idea. He put his ideas into motion by creating a blend of fabrics that worked best for the comfort of athletes as this was his main goal. Growing up Adams was quite creative, such as teaching himself the piano, according to Lamar (1998, p.3), Adams became a serious pianist as a child. Later, he would argue for the connections between music and photography, calling attention to the importance of tonal gradations and likening the printing of a negative to the performance of a musical score . In 1916 his passion for photography began after a trip to Yosemite National Park. Adams personality was described as hyperactive, and he also had difficulty reading. Due to Adams struggle in school, his father and aunt began tutoring him, however he never earned a high school diploma. After visiting Adams creativity expanded beyond anything that could be taught in an educational way, with Grzymkowski stating that Adams s studies veered into the world of music at age twelve, when he taught himself to read music and play piano. By the age of eighteen, he was an apt pianist with every intention of pursuing music as a career. The science and precision of his musical craft later influenced his photography (Grzymkowski 2013, p.101). With the assistance of photography magazines, attending camera club meetings, learning darkroom techniques and visiting photography as well as art exhibits, these all became contributing factors to Adams eventually selling his early photographs. So, diethyl ether are aprotic as it cannot hydrogen bond with themselves therefore, it is capable to solvate and stabilize the reagent with the helped of Mg Br bond containing partial positive charge and the diethyl ether C O bond containing partial negative charge. Whereas, acetone which is a polar solvent as well as aprotic could not be used because the electrophilic double bond on the carbonyl carbon would attack the nucleophilic Grignard reagent giving a tertiary product. The basic premise of this theory states that perception is not a matter of sensitivity, but considered in terms of the environment in which the event occurred. Two critical components of the Signal Detection Theory includes signal, which is considered as the desired stimulus , and noise, which is the undesired stimulus , or the events in the environment. Within a signal detection task, there are in total four possibilities or outcomes. These outcomes depend on the presences of a stimulus as well as a yes or no response. If the stimulus is present and the response is yes , then the task outcome would be considered a hit. If the stimulus is absent and the response is yes , then the task outcome would be considered a false alarm . There were five specific concepts we discussed over the semester that especially interested me. I found that homogenous and heterogeneous grouping, extrinsic and intrinsic motivation, operant conditioning, cooperative learning, and divergent versus convergent thinking are five psychological concepts that every teacher should learn about in preparation for teaching. In order to promote the utmost success of students, numerous studies have been conducted to determine the ideal organization strategies for grouping within classrooms. There are two major types of grouping, heterogeneous and homogeneous. Heterogeneous grouping can be described as randomly grouping students together. The teacher does not group based on any specific criteria and attempts to involve all types of students within each group. In further detail, there may be one student who overachieves at mathematics and a student that performs below average in mathematics within the same group. Even though his name at birth was Ramachandra, he was called Nathuram because of his nath . • 39. The Banking Concept Of Education Summary The banking concept of education is a short essay written by Paulo Freire, which describes his views on inadequate education. The banking concept of education and the problem posing education method are two teaching methods Freire uses to explain the differences between what is inadequate teaching and what is not. The banking concept of education is a method of teaching education to students as if they are depositories and the teacher is the depositor. Students only receive the information from the teacher to memorize and report. The problem posing education method involves a combination of the teacher teaching the student and the student teaching the teacher through dialogue. This makes the classroom environment more interactive. Freire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This means the teacher knows everything and the student knows nothing. For the problem posing education method, Freire wrote that it affirms men and women as being in the process of becoming as unfinished, uncompleted beings in and with likewise unfinished reality. The unfinished character of reality necessitates that education be an ongoing activity . Freire urges to move away the traditional education system and use alternative education methods like the problem posing method so students are encouraged to be critical thinkers in not only an educational setting but in life in ... • 40. A Rose For Emily By William Faulkner In A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner, Faulkner conveys the issue of involving trying to maintain traditional values and control in a society that is facing a change that is radical and widespread. In this story, Emily is seen as timeless figure that contradicts a society that is trying to build up a more efficient, modern lifestyle. Miss Emily is portrayed as a women who resents change and responds uncomfortably to any force that tries to change her inhibitions. Her house is a portrait of her mindset with the leather covered furniture being described as cracked , and the pillow on which the townspeople found her dead body was yellow and moldy with age and lack of sunlight (par.55). Instead of replacing the furniture with newer polished one, she chooses to use her dark and dusty home as shield from the modern transformation of the town. Miss Emily s refusal to change causes her several disagreements with the local government and law enforcement. Her rejection to the multiple tax notices causes a burden with the newer generation as they are unfamiliar with Miss Emily s way of law and conduct. This is privy to Miss Emily s position as well, as she is unfamiliar with the current change in the local power as she is steadfast in her reprisal of Colonel Sartoris s conduct, unknowledgable (or unwilling to accept) his death ten years before. Some characters are sympathetic, and still respectful to her position in the town as show with Judge Stevens. He concedes to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In fact, we should strive to achieve all the dreams we have in our hearts, which is an ideology that I live by. I m only 17 years old, yet I have already found myself interested in many aspects of life. For instance, I taught myself how to play the guitar and juggle. I have continued practicing these talents for the past 5 years. Moreover, I have visited over 30 countries worldwide, which include Spain, Japan, Argentina, plus several states in the USA. I chose to hold the fundraiser at a mall due to the high influx of people shopping there. All the items that I gathered for the fundraiser were all donated by my classmates at school. So when three friends of mine and I set up our stand for the fundraiser, we were stopped by mall security. They stated that it s against mall regulations for a fundraiser to take place without the permission of the mall owner. Plus, we were fined $200 by the mall for attempting to commit an action against regulations. The fact that we were fined such a high figure really put my friends and I down. However, I did not stay de motivated for long, as I immediately set up a meeting with the mall owner, and after long hours of filing paperwork for confirmation; my friends and I were allowed to hold the fundraiser. After completing that, I realized that I am a determined person when it comes to a matter which is important to me. In the end, the fundraiser raised an outstanding $3000. The use of the pod in my opinion was to represent how easy it was to plant an idea in someone s mind. One thing about communism is it grew rapidly kind like how the pods grew in the movie. • 43. The Rubik s Cube How Architecture found Cubes The Rubik s cube, invented by Erno Rubik, is famously known as the Impossible puzzle. It was during the summer of my 7th grade that I first stumbled upon the Rubik s cube. The Rubik s cube is a cube with different colors on all sides. The goal is to be able to return the original look of the cube, with all the edges and corners corresponding to the center color of each face. People seem to think the cube is made out of 27 cubes, but it is actually made of a core. The other pieces fit in with the core to give the look of multiple cubes grouped together. I remembered the day vividly when I held the glamorous box with the Qi Yi BullFight (Name of the Rubik s Cube) inside. The cube felt special, it was an experience I had never encountered. Perfect. Architecture is the design of a building, just like the bones that make up the structure of a human being, and the way it forms as a basis for a design. The Rubik s cube is the pencil I use for drawing. The pencil is occasionally used, and sometimes, left alone. When I am focused, I can solve my difficulties, calm and controlled. Nevertheless, I can draw my imagination, however hard it maybe. However, when I am inattentive, it seems like a brick wall is stopping me from my solution. Although this pencil may cause me to stress out, it can also encourage me to try harder, and seek out the hidden solution even with the massive brick wall in the way. My love of architecture connects with the cube because solving problems in puzzles is just like thinking through and designing something. In addition, whenever I open my vision to the many designs in the world, it brings me back to the Rubik s cube and architecture. The many designs act like the algorithms in the cube, you sometimes make errors, and you sometimes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Effects Of Federal Mandates On Virginia The Effects of Federal Mandates on Virginia: Americans with Disabilities Act And the No Child Left Behind Act Because of the Supremacy Clause, when the National government makes a new law or mandate, states and local governments must comply Federal mandates are requirements that the national government imposes on state and local governments. Following these requirements are often a condition for the state or local governments to receive grants and financial support for various programs. Many of these mandates come with money attached, but some do not. Requirements imposed on State and local governments without the Federal government providing funds are called unfunded mandates (Losco, Baker 53.) Virginia is affected by many Federal Mandates. Two prevalent mandates the state of Virginia must comply with is the Americans with Disabilities Act and the No Child Left Behind Act. Virginia has complied with these mandates by creating a system to determine if a person has a disability, providing accommodations to those with disabilities, and Virginia has reformed its public education system. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was put into place in 1990 to ensure that people could not discriminate against those with disabilities. At the end of every war, there were newly disabled American veterans that wanted improved civil rights and proper accommodations for the disabled that needed them. • 45. Stop And Frisk Essay Stop and Frisk started in New York City in the early 1990 s as a combined response to the Broken Windows sociological theory and the ruling in the Terry v. Ohio case. The initial prompt for this policy came from the ruling in the 1968 Supreme Court case of Terry v. Ohio. The court decided that fourth amendment rights are not violated when the police stop, detain, and search a suspect on the street. This ruling paved the way for early implementation of policies similar, but not as wide spread, as stop and frisk. This ruling paved the way for early implementation of policies similar, but not as wide spread, as stop and frisk. This theory alleges that by reducing petty crime you can also deter more major crime much in the same way as fixing broken windows (which are thought to invite potential thieves) will prevent future crime. Kelling s theory combined with the Terry v. Ohio ruling eventually led to the implementation of full blown Stop and Frisk in the New York City area during the mayoral term of Rudi Giuliani. The idea behind stop and frisk initially was for police officers to patrol streets in order to stop those they suspected of carrying illegal goods and then frisk them to ascertain if they were indeed breaking any laws. This would serve duel purposes in that those found to be carrying illegal goods would be stopped while letting others in the area who may be participating in illegal activities know that there was an active police presence there, hopefully deterring ... • 46. Limitations Of Racist Speech Limits on Racist Speech in Public Contexts When the first amendment is brought up, one of the first things that comes to mind is free speech. Even though we don t give it much thought, our free speech does have limits. The more obvious limits such as knowing that you can t threaten people or shout Fire! in a crowded space make sense because it s easy to see how they cause direct harm. These general limits are important in order to ensure a safe and peaceful society, but when it comes to voicing prejudice views, it becomes difficult to determine what should and should not be restricted by the first amendment. After all, when negative and hurtful opinions are directed at a specific group of people, it becomes hard to see how protecting them could be a good thing. The important thing to remember is that when sharing these views becomes harmful and leads to harassment, it is no longer protected under the first amendment. However, everyone sees things differently, so drawing the line between what is just offensive and harassment needs to be determined and treated on a case by case basis. This will not only allow us to come to a solution for these individual problems, but it leaves room for discussion which will help to combat the root cause of prejudice. While trying to think of ways to regulate racist speech, we might think that an easy solution would be to place a ban on racist speech altogether, but this quickly becomes problematic. Banning specific opinions and beliefs would no longer make our speech free, and even when people are permitted to share wrong or offensive opinions, protecting free speech still has more potential benefit than harm. This gives us the right to speak out against our government when it is doing something we disagree with, but it also allows people to share their racist views. If we want to continue to reap the benefits, we also have to accept that racist speech is a part of free speech, thus protected under the first amendment. This is not the same thing as saying that racist speech should be unregulated; there are regulations for when hate speech becomes harmful, but the government shouldn t and isn t responsible for regulating it. The issue of regulating racist speech is a local ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Symphony Number 45 in F# Minor (the Farewell symphony )... Symphony Number 45 in F# Minor (the Farewell symphony ) Between 1761 and 1790 Haydn was employed by the enormously wealthy Esterhazy family who had two palaces on the borders of Austria and Hungary. The court orchestra was similar to that of many baroque orchestras two oboes, a bassoon, a string ensemble and a harpsichord. But it also included a pair of horns instruments that became a regular part of the orchestra thereafter. It was this orchestra that accompanied operas in the palace theatre and played symphonies twice a week. Haydn s symphony number 45 in F# minor was first performed in the summer prince Nikolaus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The last movement of the Farewell symphony contains both styles. The presto is stormy, but the violent mood is restrained by its form. The major mode serenity at the start of the Adagio is later tinged with minor mode sadness and one of the strangest endings in symphonic music. Haydn s use of wind instruments is quite different from Bach s and shows how orchestration changed during the 18th century. Where Bach uses wind instruments to provide melodic lines within his contrapuntal textures, in this symphony Haydn uses them to add colour or weight to the string parts. In fact a performance of the presto on strings alone would make perfect sense. The oboes are used in two ways: they reinforce the violins in loud passages and provide sustained notes that bind the texture (eg bars 20 24) or give a reedy edge to discords (eg start of bars 25,27 and 29). Although printed on a separate stave in some scores the bassoon simply doubles the cello/bass part throughout the presto. Natural horns, like natural trumpets, could play only a limited number of notes. But by requiring the use of different crooks for the town horns Haydn is able to use a wider number of pitches that would otherwise have been possible. The horns most important job is to provide harmonic glue for contrapuntal passages such as bars 20 24 of the finale, where the second horn doubles the first oboe pedal ... • 48. Altruism And It s Causes In this paper, I will be discussing the concept of altruism and it s causes in relation to a story of a bus driver who risked her own life to save the children she was transporting. To achieve this goal I will: define the necessary concepts (part I), provide examples demonstrating the differing causes of altruism and how they relate to the event in question (part II), and refer to conducted research which supports and further describes the actions taken in my chosen event (part III). While there are many persons who acted altruistically in the following story, I have decided to narrow the scope of this paper to the acts of one Renita Smith so as to enable a greater level of precision in my attribution and explanation of the relevant concepts. Event Summary Whilst going through her elementary school bus route, Renita Smith, the bus driver, was alerted to a beeping sound coming from her dashboard before she detected the scent of smoke. Only mere moments later, the bus, which was carrying 20 children, caught aflame. In the released dashcam footage, the bus in question can be seen entirely engulfed by a thick, black smoke and fire. Without waiting to consider options, Smith immediately stopped the bus and began escorting the children off of it. Surrounding neighbours and drivers ran to the aid of the children, ensuring that they made it a safe distance away. It was Smith, however, who risked her own life through repeatedly entering the flaming bus until she was certain that not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
