The document discusses Windows Workflow Foundation (WF), a framework that enables users to create system or human workflows in applications. WF allows for workflows within line-of-business apps, user interface page flows, document workflows, and more. A WF project can be created to define workflows as classes using C# or XML. The document provides a link to an MSDN tutorial about a simple expense report workflow that routes approvals based on amount and uses controls like If, Assign, and Sequence.
It is almost there, the RTM version of ASP.NET 5 and MVC6, with a new project system in Visual Studio 2015 and a new cross-platform runtime! In this session we will dig into each one of those. We will look at how you can deploy your website without it being affected, or affecting other runtimes. We will look at how to build your own middleware for this new runtime (and maybe package it as a NuGet package), building POCO controllers for MVC6, how to do unit testing, … At the end of this session you should have a better insight in this exciting new framework and runtime!
Write Powerful Javascript Modules To Make Your Apps DRY (Brian Leathem)Red Hat Developers
Large-scale Javascript applications benefit from a modular approach that let code be reused both within the application and across repeated implementations. In this session, we'll look at the modular approach used to build reusable Javascript modules in the Red Hat mobile field workforce management application (WFM) showcased in this year's Summit middleware keynote demo. Reusable modules for WFM are packaged as node package manager (npm) modules, providing a consistent format for both server and client sides using Node.js and Browserify. Modules are loosely coupled using the Mediator pattern and they broadcast user actions and state changes giving the application and other modules the opportunity to hook into those events. Additionally, visual components are packaged in a framework-agnostic manner, providing reusable UI components. You'll leave this session understanding the challenges faced when building reusable modules for large-scale applications, and the solutions employed in building out the reusable WFM modules.

Unlocking the power of the APEX Plugin ArchitectureMatt Nolan
Slides from AUSOUG Webinar 24-Aug-2017. Sorry most of the good stuff was in the Live demos.
Abstract: Get an in depth look into the APEX plugin architecture focusing on region plugins and dynamic actions. In this session you’ll learn about some of the techniques used for developing plugin interoperability and explore the best practices when in comes to designing plugins. We’ll focus on how you can communicate between plugins, increase code centralization, decrease maintenance and plug the functionality gaps in your APEX application.
It’s all about REST in today’s world. Every service you look at, people are providing a REST API for it. Surprisingly, very few of these API’s are even REST, if we’re talking about REST as in a system that abides by a series of constraints making it RESTful. But the positive note is that it has brought to light the power of HTTP as an application protocol, something very often undervalued and misunderstood, even today.
This talk is going to focus on the core values of HTTP for what it is. It will cover all aspects including
Headers
Error Management
Verbs
Content Negotiation
Caching
Security
Messages
Request and Responses
In essence you'll understand HTTP much better, learn to differentiate an HTTP API from a system with RESTful constraints and also understand benefits of providing REST API - if such a thing were to exist of course!

Ultra Fast, Cross Genre, Procedural Content Generation in Games [Master Thesis]Mohammad Shaker
In my MSc. thesis, I have re-tackled the problem of procedurally generating content for physics-based games I have previously investigated in my BSc. graduation thesis. This time around I propose two novel methods: the first is projection based for faster generation of physics-based games content. The other, The Progressive Generation, is a generic, wide-range, across genre, customisable with playability check method all bundled in a fast progressive approach. This new method is applied on two completely different games: NEXT And Cut the Rope.
The session was organized by CSharpCorner community at Fujitsu, Bangalore. In the session basics and advanced concepts of Microsoft flow was discussed with live demos and hands-on lab.

Providing Globus Services to Users of JASMIN for Environmental Data AnalysisGlobus
JASMIN is the UK’s high-performance data analysis platform for environmental science, operated by STFC on behalf of the UK Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). In addition to its role in hosting the CEDA Archive (NERC’s long-term repository for climate, atmospheric science & Earth observation data in the UK), JASMIN provides a collaborative platform to a community of around 2,000 scientists in the UK and beyond, providing nearly 400 environmental science projects with working space, compute resources and tools to facilitate their work. High-performance data transfer into and out of JASMIN has always been a key feature, with many scientists bringing model outputs from supercomputers elsewhere in the UK, to analyse against observational or other model data in the CEDA Archive. A growing number of JASMIN users are now realising the benefits of using the Globus service to provide reliable and efficient data movement and other tasks in this and other contexts. Further use cases involve long-distance (intercontinental) transfers to and from JASMIN, and collecting results from a mobile atmospheric radar system, pushing data to JASMIN via a lightweight Globus deployment. We provide details of how Globus fits into our current infrastructure, our experience of the recent migration to GCSv5.4, and of our interest in developing use of the wider ecosystem of Globus services for the benefit of our user community.
Listen to the keynote address and hear about the latest developments from Rachana Ananthakrishnan and Ian Foster who review the updates to the Globus Platform and Service, and the relevance of Globus to the scientific community as an automation platform to accelerate scientific discovery.

In software engineering, the right architecture is essential for robust, scalable platforms. Wix has undergone a pivotal shift from event sourcing to a CRUD-based model for its microservices. This talk will chart the course of this pivotal journey.
Event sourcing, which records state changes as immutable events, provided robust auditing and "time travel" debugging for Wix Stores' microservices. Despite its benefits, the complexity it introduced in state management slowed development. Wix responded by adopting a simpler, unified CRUD model. This talk will explore the challenges of event sourcing and the advantages of Wix's new "CRUD on steroids" approach, which streamlines API integration and domain event management while preserving data integrity and system resilience.
Participants will gain valuable insights into Wix's strategies for ensuring atomicity in database updates and event production, as well as caching, materialization, and performance optimization techniques within a distributed system.
Join us to discover how Wix has mastered the art of balancing simplicity and extensibility, and learn how the re-adoption of the modest CRUD has turbocharged their development velocity, resilience, and scalability in a high-growth environment.

Climate Science Flows: Enabling Petabyte-Scale Climate Analysis with the Eart...Globus
The Earth System Grid Federation (ESGF) is a global network of data servers that archives and distributes the planet’s largest collection of Earth system model output for thousands of climate and environmental scientists worldwide. Many of these petabyte-scale data archives are located in proximity to large high-performance computing (HPC) or cloud computing resources, but the primary workflow for data users consists of transferring data, and applying computations on a different system. As a part of the ESGF 2.0 US project (funded by the United States Department of Energy Office of Science), we developed pre-defined data workflows, which can be run on-demand, capable of applying many data reduction and data analysis to the large ESGF data archives, transferring only the resultant analysis (ex. visualizations, smaller data files). In this talk, we will showcase a few of these workflows, highlighting how Globus Flows can be used for petabyte-scale climate analysis.

12. Take a Look at MSDN TutorialThe application is a simple expense report that consists of a text field to enter an amount and a button to submit the expense report. The workflow uses rules to evaluate the amount and to require approval from a lead if the amount is less than 1000, or approval froma manager if the amount is greater than or equal to 1000. If approval is needed, the workflow communicates back to the application and displays a drop- down panel that containsApproveandRejectbuttons. When one of these buttons is clicked, the application notifies the workflow of the response, and the workflow continues to process the event. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/vstudio/ms734794(v=vs.90).aspx
