These poems explore themes of love, longing, passion and loss. Many describe intense romantic feelings for a lover, from longing to be together to the pain of a breakup. One poem reflects on watching past loves find new partners while feeling lonely. The styles range from heartfelt declarations of love to more melancholy reflections on lost love and memories.
The poem describes the poet's experience listening to the sound of rain falling on the roof. In three sentences:
The poet finds it blissful to listen to the soft patter of raindrops on the roof, as it brings melancholy darkness relief and allows fanciful dreams and memories of the past to arise. Fond memories in particular come of the poet's mother putting them to sleep as a child while listening to the rain, bringing the feeling of her loving look.
This document analyzes the poem "A Red, Red Rose" by Robert Burns. It discusses how the poem uses metaphor, simile, and symbol as figurative language. It examines each stanza and identifies the specific metaphors, similes, and symbols used. For example, it notes the use of "sands o' life" as a metaphor for time. Overall, the analysis finds these figurative devices help convey the deep feelings of love and commitment expressed in the poem.
The poem describes the feeling of listening to the sound of rain falling on a roof at night. It uses personification to describe the "melancholy darkness" and rain shedding "tears." As the narrator lies in bed listening to the rain, it brings up fond memories and inspires dreams.
This document discusses rhyme and blank verse in poetry. It defines rhyme as the repetition of similar sounding words occurring at the end of lines, which brings rhythm and musicality. Blank verse is defined as unrhyming verse that has a consistent meter of 10 syllables per line, as seen in Shakespeare's works. The document also covers the types and functions of rhyme, including perfect rhyme, general rhyme, and alliteration. It analyzes an example of rhyme and blank verse from Macbeth. In conclusion, rhyme brings musical sound to poetry while blank verse is unrhymed, but both are important elements of poetic structure.
Ppt on the letter BY DHUMKETU ENGLISH LITERAture class 10Chandra Shekhar
The story is about Coachman Ali, who faithfully visits the post office every day for 5 years hoping for a letter from his daughter Miriam after her marriage. Ali is mocked by the post office employees but continues his daily visits with steadfast hope. Over time, Ali's health declines until he pleads with the rude postmaster for a letter. Before dying, Ali extracts a promise that any letter will be delivered to his grave. The postmaster then suffers from the same anxiety waiting for news of his daughter. Realizing Ali's pain, he remorsefully sees Ali at his door in a vision, understanding the depth of Ali's enduring love and the human need for connection.

The document summarizes William Shakespeare's sonnet "My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun." It analyzes the sonnet's occasion, audience, purpose, tone, style, and rhetorical devices. The sonnet satirizes exaggerated metaphors used by other poets to describe love by noting the physical imperfections of the speaker's mistress but that love transcends such faults.
The document discusses Edgar Allan Poe's literary style and themes. Poe is considered one of the founders of detective fiction and is best known for his works of mystery and the macabre. His stories frequently dealt with themes of death and lost love. Two examples analyzed are his short story "The Tell-Tale Heart" about murder, insanity, and guilt, and his poem "The Raven" where a raven symbolizes death and torments the narrator over his lost love Lenore.
William Wordsworth's I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud Analysisfemirchm
This document provides an analysis of the poem "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud" by William Wordsworth. It discusses Wordsworth's biography and the context in which he wrote the poem. The analysis focuses on the rhyme scheme and imagery used in the poem. Specifically, it examines the organic imagery relating to internal sensations and the a-b-a-b-c-c rhyme structure Wordsworth employs. This document is an excerpt from the short story "The Happy Prince" by Oscar Wilde. It tells the story of a swallow who encounters a statue of the Happy Prince. The statue was once a real prince who is now covered in gold and precious jewels. Though beautiful, he is saddened to see the suffering of the poor people in his city from his high place. He asks the swallow to help the poor by taking his remaining jewels - first an eye to help a sick boy, then the other eye to help a poor match girl. In return, the swallow agrees to stay with the blind prince through the winter.
Carl Sandburg was an American poet and writer who won three Pulitzer Prizes. One of his most famous poems is "Fog", which is only six lines long. The poem compares a fog rolling into a city and harbor to a kitten, describing how it comes in silently and sits looking over the landscape in the way a cat might. It sits silently on its haunches before moving on, mirroring how cats and fog are both transient presences that do not remain in one place for long.

William Butler Yeats was an Irish poet and one of the most prominent figures of the 20th century. He helped establish the Abbey Theatre in Dublin and served as its chief during its early years. Yeats was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1923, making him the first Irish recipient. He is regarded as one of the few writers who completed their greatest works after receiving the Nobel Prize, such as The Tower and The Winding Stair and Other Poems. Yeats played a pivotal role in the Irish Literary Revival and had a significant influence on literature in the 20th century.
Kamala Das was an Indian poet and author from Kerala who wrote in Malayalam and English. She was born in 1934 and began writing at a young age, publishing in both English and Malayalam throughout her career. Some of her notable works include her autobiography My Story, collections of poetry like Summer in Calcutta, and short stories. Kamala Das passed away in 2009 and is remembered as one of the pioneering voices in Indian English poetry.
The poem tells the story of a nightingale with a beautiful singing voice and a jealous frog who manipulates her. The nightingale's song enchants all the creatures in the bog one night, but the cunning frog later convinces her he can improve her talent and charges her for training. He exploits her singing to make money but eventually destroys her voice through harsh criticism. Overworked and addicted to applause, the nightingale dies, while the evil frog remains unrepentant.
The poem describes the poet's experience wandering lonely when he discovers a large field of daffodils. He is overcome with joy at the beauty of the golden flowers dancing in the breeze. The memory of this scene brings the poet pleasure and lifts his mood when he is feeling lonely or sad. The daffodils come to represent the natural beauty and happiness that can overcome feelings of isolation.

The document summarizes a folktale called "In the Kingdom of Fools". It describes a kingdom ruled by a foolish king and minister who implement ridiculous laws. They decree that day and night be reversed. A wise guru and his disciple visit and are surprised by what they see. The disciple remains after the guru leaves and gets into trouble. The guru tricks the king into executing himself, making the guru the new ruler who changes the foolish laws.

("I was worried about your performance"), «
("I feel you 're like an anchor to her"), «Треба не бити бомки, а пріти, як чорний віл» ("you" re
trying to do something, but it 's really not enough "), «дещо гливтякуватий торс» ("your body was
non-coordinated"), «Кози в золоті нам показували, аж у носі закрутило» ("your acting was so
[4, el-ref]:
Любимую фразу Франциско Гомеса "Love love love / I loved-loved-loved it (that)" за все 3
3. "Wow, wow" ‒ «Ой, леле», "It was your best performance" ‒ «Ви просто царівна-танцюрівна»,
"You two were like chalk and cheese " ‒ «Ви, як козир-дівка та хлопець - зух!», ''It is such a
pleasure to watch you, guys, dance. It's like an apple pie, ice cream. I loved every single minute of
it. Congratulations, it was a beautiful performance" ‒ «Для мене надзвичайна втіха, насолода
I was really excited. You are like the sexiest couple... like if you had
babies, I would like to adopt one. You, guys, are ridiculous" ‒ «Я був надзвичайно збуджений.
I agree with
Vlad" ‒ «Я вважаю, що Влад сказав, як зав'язав», "I think it was a nice song choice " ‒ «Це була
добра, доскочиста пісня», "I would like to thank the choreographers» ‒ «Я хотів би подякувати
уклінно хореографам», "You 're my favourite couple» ‒ «Ви мої мазурики», "you 're ready to
cope with every style» ‒ «Ви всі жанри з відкритим заборолом зустрічаєте», "You had a very
honest chemistry" ‒ «Ви добре спарувалися»;
"It happens sometimes" ‒ «Гіркий світ ‒ та треба жити», "Marta, it's a much better improvement
from last week" ‒ «Марта, нарешті, виїздить помалу з Манівців на битий шлях», "How did you
cope with her?" ‒ «Як ви укоськали норовливу?»;
"Your acting was very artificial" ‒ «Ваше акторство було занадто закарлючисте», "You made
me look like a fool idiot. Don't make me look like an idiot again" ‒ «Не корч із себе дурника на
сцені», "Shut up" ‒ «Ану, цить, голото!», "I'm shocked" ‒ «Я був у жасі», "It was horrible" ‒
«Жах жахучий», "I wish you had gone the last week" ‒ «Кепсько, що далі, то горе», "I' ll be
4. very disappointed" ‒ «Я буду заскочений», "Your dance moves and figures were awful" ‒ «Її
It was so bad that I think Tonya
failed today because of you" ‒ «Тоня впав у біду, немов курка до сьорбанки через вас саме».
it", "I did not like it", "it was your best performance" и т.п.
[6, el- ref].
