Bully prevention is an important part of Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) frameworks. This document outlines a comprehensive model for bully prevention that focuses on teaching all students school-wide expectations for respectful behavior, and teaching strategies like "Stop, Talk, and Walk" to respond to disrespectful behavior. Research from the University of Oregon found that implementing this bully prevention approach within a PBIS model resulted in a 72% reduction of bullying incidents across three elementary schools.
