Building a 21st Century water workforce - v.14Brian Gongol
The pipeline for good candidates to enter all parts of the water, wastewater, and stormwater sectors needs a reboot to reflect the needs of the 21st Century and the expectations of today's workforce. Here are some ideas to address those needs.
Forget the environment -- you're in the public-health businessBrian Gongol
Wastewater treatment gets no respect in America, and the biggest problem is that we keep on treating it as a matter for the environment. It's not. The only thing that matters is public health.

iMedia Brand Summit - Sept 2010
With the mobile Internet now ubiquitous and the digital living room becoming a reality, consumers have real-time access to compelling content from virtually anywhere. Almost every second of every day, they are bombarded with advertising, social media, and branded content. This access overload has created a more discerning consumer with a shorter attention span. So while brands have more opportunities to reach their target audiences, it is increasingly difficult for these companies to genuinely break through and make a meaningful impact.
In this new installment of Hope Beyond the Hype, Jeff Rosenblum, founding partner of Questus, interviews industry leaders to gain insight into the changing attitudes of consumers and the emerging tools that marketers can leverage to build relationships in an age of constant connectivity. Experts from the marketing and media worlds will address the increasing fragmentation of the media ecosystem and provide actionable advice for cutting through the clutter to capture attention and build loyalty.

Generous Brands 2.0: Retail’s ongoing journey towards the greater goodFITCH
Emotional connection with shoppers has always sat at the heart of the essence of our industry, and yet there are still precious few retailers putting their money where their mouths are towards a new agenda of social wellbeing.
5 years ago FITCH identified the move towards this trend with its Generous Brands white paper, a ground breaking challenge to the retail industry to take up the mantle and to change both operations and culture from a focus solely on the bottom line to one marrying commercial realities with a responsibility towards a higher purpose.
The time has come to revisit this topic as retail finds itself poised at a moment of profound change – most pointedly the approaching dominance of Gens Y and Z on the shopping landscape, collectively the largest block of consumers in history and by far the most socially conscious.
Against this backdrop it is more important now than ever before for brands and retailers to align their higher purpose with their business goals. Only then will they become not only unique, but relevant and memorable to those that they seek to serve.
The future will bring unprecedented change. Only by developing the skills to navigate this change, we’ll be able to thrive. This meta skill adaptability is the focus of this paper.
First, we’ll discuss eleven future trends that will shape the decade ahead. Then we’ll present the six skills to thrive in a changing world, and action steps for your growth. Throughout you’ll find exercises that help your apply the learnings.
This paper blends a scientific approach from in-depth interviews with business leaders and entrepreneurs, with personal observations in the real world, to help individuals and organizations prepare for and adapt to a changing world.

A guide for decision-makers looking at the complex choices involved in designing a lift station. There are far more forks in the road than conventional thinking would have you believe.
Small wastewater plants and lagoon systems needing to meet tougher effluent-quality standards may find themselves in need of additional aeration that their existing facilities are poorly-equipped to supply. A technological solution that takes up almost no space, requires little to no earth work, and can be easily operated and maintained is available.
The nexus between energy policy and water policy hasn't gotten the amount of attention it deserves, and that's something the water sector needs to change
How to Communicate with Boards and CouncilsBrian Gongol
It's not enough to know your stuff (though you should), and it's not enough to be nice (though that's a good practice, too). Community and civic leaders on city councils and governing boards need utility leaders to be good communicators. Here's what they want from you, in their own words.
Getting Your CLAWS into Pump MaintenanceBrian Gongol
Maintenance takes on all kinds of styles and approaches, but anything we can do to make the process more intuitive and easy to hack, the better. In this presentation, we describe a simple mnemonic device -- CLAWS -- to help pump operators ensure they're checking the biggest culprits for trouble before they reach a state of failure.
An introduction to shoreside Venturi-type aeration for wastewater lagoons and tanks, including considerations contrasting the Venturi approach with conventional aeration methods
Dealing with Mother Nature's Attitude Problem - v.19Brian Gongol
Whether you're sold on anthropogenic climate change or not, there's no getting around the fact that Mother Nature has been showing off some of the worst of her bad attitude lately. What are you supposed to do about it if you're a water utility professional? Fortunately, you're not alone, and there are resources you can (and should!) be using right now to help.
25 Ways to Screw Up a Lift Station Design - v.10Brian Gongol
Through the careful study (and avoidance) of failure, engineering can make use of the past to improve on the future. Pump station design is no exception. Join this speedy trip through 25 entirely avoidable screwups to see how things can go wrong -- and learn how to make sure they go right next time.
Media relations for the water industry - v.20Brian Gongol
Water issues shouldn't only make the news when something terrible happens. This is a crash course in how to ensure that the public is well-informed about water and wastewater issues, with perspective and advice from a media veteran with more than 25 years of insider experience. Pitfalls to avoid, best practices to put to work, and ideas for putting an extraordinary light on your ordinary work.
Breaking the conveyor-belt myth - v.09Brian Gongol
Until water is valued in its own right, we should not expect the public to change its perceptions about how they can treat (and abuse) it. Changing those perceptions
How a Venturi-based pumped-aeration approach located on dry land can make simple lagoons more effective for wastewater treatment, with a minimum of equipment and dirt work required.
Schoolkids now, customers later - v.14Brian Gongol
How water and wastewater utilities can reach out to schoolchildren as part of their efforts to develop the next generation of the workforce, make better future customers, and communicate responsible stewardship to their parents.
The maintenance you don't have to touch - v.07Brian Gongol
Water and wastewater utilities (and their affiliates) need to start addressing cybersecurity issues as an integral part of their ongoing maintenance plans. Time is running out to think otherwise.
Sachpazis:Terzaghi Bearing Capacity Estimation in simple terms with Calculati...Dr.Costas Sachpazis
Terzaghi's soil bearing capacity theory, developed by Karl Terzaghi, is a fundamental principle in geotechnical engineering used to determine the bearing capacity of shallow foundations. This theory provides a method to calculate the ultimate bearing capacity of soil, which is the maximum load per unit area that the soil can support without undergoing shear failure. Final project report on grocery store management system..pdfKamal Acharya
In today’s fast-changing business environment, it’s extremely important to be able to respond to client needs in the most effective and timely manner. If your customers wish to see your business online and have instant access to your products or services.
Online Grocery Store is an e-commerce website, which retails various grocery products. This project allows viewing various products available enables registered users to purchase desired products instantly using Paytm, UPI payment processor (Instant Pay) and also can place order by using Cash on Delivery (Pay Later) option. This project provides an easy access to Administrators and Managers to view orders placed using Pay Later and Instant Pay options.
In order to develop an e-commerce website, a number of Technologies must be studied and understood. These include multi-tiered architecture, server and client-side scripting techniques, implementation technologies, programming language (such as PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and MySQL relational databases. This is a project with the objective to develop a basic website where a consumer is provided with a shopping cart website and also to know about the technologies used to develop such a website.
This document will discuss each of the underlying technologies to create and implement an e- commerce website.

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.
Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed. It is also Faster and more efficient way.
