BUCKET CAPACITY
The total amount of material carried
by a bucket is the amount inside the
bucket plus the amount piled on top
of it. This is called the Heaped or
Rated Capacity. The amount of
material piled on top of the bucket,
(heap), is determined by the angle of
repose of the material being handled.

USES OF FRONT END LOADER
Also called bucket loaders or front-end loaders,
wheel loaders offer versatility with a large capacity
for a variety of different tasks, including building
roads, preparing the job site, digging, carrying
heavy loads, or moving construction materials like
dirt or debris.

Difference Between Long Ton Ans Short Town
Long Ton:
● British ton
● Has a capacity of 2240Ib
Short Ton:
● US ton
● Has a capacity of 2000Ib
TONNAGE FACTOR
The tonnage factor provides the mechanism for the
conversion from volume of ore to weight of ore. In the
English system, the tonnage factor is normally
expressed as cubic feet per ton of ore. In the metric
system, the tonnage factor is the specific gravity of the
ore.
HOW TO CALCULATE TONNAGE FACTOR
● Area Method: To calculate, multiply the length and
breadth of the room (in feet), take square-root of the
answer and divide by 10. The resulting number will
give the desired tonnage.
● Volume Method: Alternatively, multiply the length,
breadth and height of a room (in feet). Divide the
answer by 1000.
WHY DO WE STUDY MINE MACHINERY?
To enable us apply the principles of mechanical
engineering and electrical engineering for analysis,
design, manufacturing and maintenance of mining
equipment.
