Developing a competitive strategy in business is ultimately what separates those that merely survive from those that grow and thrive. It is what makes a business successful. Essential to operating any business, the strategy must be carefully thought out and implemented in a manner that keeps customers returning and competitors at bay.
What do you need to take into consideration when evaluating the performance of members of your sales team?
In judging performance the question to ask is "What value-adding does each sales person contribute to our business?" There are four areas where they can add value.
Human Value - Are they developing their own talent to do the job better?
Information Value - Are they collecting and using valuable information effectively?
Market Value - Are they growing potential business opportunities within their markets?
Financial Value - Are they increasing revenue and profit contribution?

The Business Unit Manager shall use prior ESCO industry experience to develop strategies to pursue and win
business opportunities and to effectively build industry leading Sales, Engineering and Operations teams. The
successful Business Unit Manager will build an organization that is the leader in delivering comprehensive
energy efficiency solutions to commercial, industrial and institutional customers within the Nashville marketplace.
Key Responsibilities
Collectively build the Nashville business unit 1, 3 and 5 year strategic plan with SmartWatt senior
management.
Successfully execute the 1, 3 and 5 year strategic business plan.
Develop project specific “win” strategies.
With support from SmartWatt’s HR team; recruit experienced sales, engineering and operations staff to
join the Nashville team.
Provide day to day management: Mentor and train employees, conduct performance reviews, set
employee performance objectives, develop employee training plans, initiate and manage disciplinary
actions.
Build business unit to meet (or exceed) financial and strategic goals.
Oversee and support the development of detailed engineering analysis including baseline profiles, end
use analysis, energy calculations and retrofit analysis.
Support the development of Investment Grade Audit reports and Measurement and Verification plans.
Assist Sales and Engineering teams during key customer presentations.
Negotiate key customer, supplier and subcontractor contracts.
Assist and support operations team in developing project risk mitigation strategies.
Network within industry.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business or related degree
10+ years of experience within energy services industry.
5+ years’ experience leading teams within the energy services industry.
Valid Driver’s License; Travel required with employee’s automobile
