- 2. WHEY DID WE VISIT THE BFI? On 12th November 2014, we visited the British Film Institute at Southbank, London. We came to this lecture to further our understanding in to the research and planning aspects of movie openings. This will help us with our coursework by looking into aspects of film openings, such as Mise-En-Scene, enigma and sound.
- 3. PETE FRASER Pete Fraser also was our main lecturer. He spoke to us about things which we are currently studying in class. Pete presented us with posts from his blog ‘www.petesme diablog.blogspot.com’ Pete showed us some previous openings, alongside grade schemes in which we had to use to give a reasonable grade on the opening. This was beneficial as I realised how a better quality camera and microphone enhance an opening and also many higher grades used minimal speech as it is very hard to perfect.

HANNAH ROTHMAN Hannah Rothman is a trailer director who has helped direct film trailers such as Sex Tape, rise of the planet of the apes and The Selfish Giant which we was shown and then we had an in-depth discussion about the methods of advertisement production. The Q&A session with her gave us more knowledge on how we could place our titles and what styles suit which genre.
- 5. DEXTER FLETCHER Dexter Fletcher is an actor/director who has featured in many film and television productions. He started his acting career in Bugsy Malone playing the role of baby face. Now he is directing his own film ideas, Wild Bill and other ideas proposed to him by companies, Sunshine On Leith.Fraser told us about how important using well known actors for his directorial debut of Wild Bill. The Q&A session with Fletcher was successful for us students as he extended our knowledge what to include in our opening. Rules such as you must see the main character’s eyes first- so the audience can instantly feel vibes and feelings of the characters persona.
