Best One Mission Statement
The Best One hotel franchise is due for evaluation statewide. The hotel is a three star hotel that is
known for its convenience and comfort. The mission statement of Best One describes its intentions.
Mission Statement: We want you to feel at home because there is no place like home but the
BEST ONE we are family. However, during the evaluation it was discovered that the Best One
hotelshad several complaints. The complaints stem from the front desk of customers having
negative experiences, periods of long waiting time, in correct billing charges, possibly credit card
identity theft, improper prepared bills, and rude service. Because the discrepancies found within the
evaluation do not reflect the mission statement of the company,... Show more content on

If in fact the Mission statement suggest that the hotel is a no place like home then it would be
understood that all leadership from the least to the greatest make it their business to embrace the
mission and treat all like family whether that be customers and/or staff members. As the strategic
leader, the direction of the company will be to maintain its current mission but assess the thoughts
of every staff member and their objectives to maintaining the why. There is really nothing wrong
with the mission statement because it is straight to the point and very simplistic. However, what
appears to be the problem may be communication gaps or followers have just gotten bored or tired
following the mission statement. For instance, that the increased attention given to the workers by
management and researchers was the key to increased productivity (Eisenberg Goodall, 2004, p. 73).
Also, implementing a plan to make sure that those that handle finances and documentation are

The Collective Societal Memory Of The World War II Essay
Elizabeth Heineman argued in her article that the collective societal memory of the experiences of
German women in the immediate aftermath of World War II greatly contributed to the development
of West German national identity, and directly influenced their eventual status in the partitioned
country.1 She suggested that in order to fully comprehend this history of memories it was necessary
to understand the distinctions and interconnections between what she refereed to as counter ,
popular , and official memories.2 In order to support this argument, the author conducted a series of
formulaic analyses on the German perception toward women in three major areas of Post War
German cultural memory; war rapes by Soviet soldiers; the experiences of women who rebuilt the
nation and the economy without much assistance from men; and finally those women who
fraternized with Allied soldiers. She began her formula by first exploring the universalization of
certain aspects of what became the stereotypical female experience of Germans at the end of World
War II through the immediate post war years.3 Next, she examined the effects of the
universalization of the female German experience upon the formation of the West German national
identity.4 This second point was further elaborated with an analysis of the relationship between
counter memories of subordinate groups and the public or popular memories of the dominant
culture, national identity, and culture of West Germany.5

My Adventure Essay
As blood ran through my system like race fuel, as I raced around the ancient temple. The
pounding of my heart upon my chest like a v8 in a stock car, meant I was running at 110%. I
stared back at the temple was crumbling, I was almost to the window I could taste the humid
jungle air already.I could feel my legs burning, my feet losing sensation and my lungs gasping
for air. Finally, with the last of my energy I push off of the ledge and plummeted towards fate, as
my life rested in God s hands as I fell 150ft into the abyss. I could bring these tall tales to college,
but I rather talk about my personal adventure. The story of my adventure to Paristo experience the
rich French culture. To explore the Spanish culture while I was in Spanish immersion. I may not
be an explorer of ancient ruins, however I still explore different cultures, as well as explored
unique opportunities that expanded my knowledge and skills, all this has added up to unique
attributes I hold, and are willing to share. Traveling around the world may be a dream for some,
but for me I rather explore the world. I ve been to many tourist spots, it a devastating sight to see
so many people take a photo, stare at whatever it is and then leave. They never stay and learn about
the cultureand history of that spot. I m so grateful that I was a part of the Spanish immersion
program of my school. I was able to learn so much, and I gained a greater view of the world.
Currently I m no longer enrolled, however I took

Compare And Contrast Greece Vs America
The Greeks have city states and they were the first democracy, America adopted that idea. The
city states had rulers who would protect the people by shielding them in castle like structures with
high walls during war. A different idea America adopted from Greece is boys would be enlisted
into the military when they became a man and America used the draft in some wars. Something that
is different however is Greeceunlike America could choose to keep their children or to possibly
drop them off the nearest cliff. Despite the differences from Greece, America learned and gained
democracy, literature, and history. The history recorded by the Athenians was about the lives they
lead and encounters they had. Athenians are one of two types of people

Leadership Styles of Ho Chi Minh and Ngo Dinh Diem Essay
Question:
In the context of the Vietnamese society as the course has presented it through the online textbook
so far, what evaluation can be made about the leadership styles and personal examples of Ho Chi
Minh and Ngo Dinh Diem that would enable both of them to tap into the hearts and minds of the
Vietnamese people and mobilize support for their initiatives? Why, in Vietnam
, was personal
leadership so very important? Refer to specific examples

leadership and the ability to apply communist ideologies to his country, desperate for change,
ultimately strengthens Vietnamese nationalism and win him support from the entire nation.
Furthermore, Ho Chi Minh is a nationalist. During his entire life, Ho Chi Minh has been pursuing
Vietnamese independence from France. He travels to France; there he goes to school, and

The Darkness of Relationships
Relationships are the foundation of everything in this world, especially in literature. If there is no
relationship present, there is essentially no story; in the short story A Temporary Matter by Jhumpa
Lahiri the entire story focuses on the married immigrants, Shoba and Shukumar, and their
relationship. Unfortunately, their relationship is an example of something that is commonly seen
in many North American relationships. Lahiri clearly depicts them as an unhappy couple that
possesses a deeply flawed marriage, and are only able to connect through negativity, irritation, and
grief. This text clearly portrays an intensely damaged relationship and shows the ways in which a
relationship can quickly fall apart ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On page 13 it states, Okay, he said, remembering. The first time we went out to dinner, to the
Portuguese place, I forgot to tip the waiter. I went back the next morning, found out his name, left
money with the manager. (Lahiri 13) This scene is the first night of their power being out, and
Shukumar s first confession to Shoba. It is about the memory of the first time they went out for
dinner together, which is a happy memory for both of them. It is also a humorous confession
because it is about something so simple and innocent. He finishes this confession in an adoring
way, Shoba asks, Why did you forget to tip the waiter? (Lahiri 14) and he replies with, By the
end of the meal I had a funny feeling I might marry you. (Lahiri 14) This shows how the use of
memory brings a couple closer together and allows them to feel a similar feeling that they might
have felt when they were first meeting. This is often referred to as the honeymoon phase of their
relationship, meaning they are happy and the relationship is still within its innocent state. They
have little to no problems between the two of them because they have known each other for such a
short time. They are just beginning to fall in love, and these types of joyful memories are the kind
that people love to hold onto because of all the wonderful feelings they get from them. As the nights
go on, the confessions begin to change from these blissful, innocent

Genetically Modified Organisms Are A Hot Topic For Debate
GMOs or Genetically Modified Organisms are a hot topic for debate. Many have taken a stand
against the genetic modifying of organisms, but what many of these people fail to realize is that
humans as a species have been modifying organisms based on genetics for thousands of years. Our
faithful companions, who were once wolves, were selectively bred based on their genes that
expressed faithfulness to humans (Rangel 10). Similarly, the corn that the world consumes today
was not the same corn grown by our human ancestors. The plants that grew tall and strong were
taken and replanted for the next season. The only difference between GMOs today and the selective
breeding of primitive humans is the random factor. Selective breeding relies on the... Show more

Not only has the safety of GMOs passed extensive board review by the academies of science,
engineering, and medicine, but there is also an overwhelming support for GMOs from the
scientific community as a whole. There are currently 123 nobel laureates who have signed an
open letter of support for GMO s (Roberts, R. J., and P. A. Sharp). The letter calls upon anti gmo
organizations, specifically Greenpeace, and governments around the world to embrace GMOs and
the golden rice project. The golden rice project is a non profit humanitarian project which aims to
modify the rice plant to contain vitamin A. Their goal is to save people in third world countries
who lack the proper micronutrients due to their dependendence on rice in their diet. Vitamin A
deficiency is extremely common among the poor whose diets consist of easy to grow plants, like

1. Even the best scientists have been wrong about some things. Give two examples from this

Marketing Strategies For The Advertising
The Persuaders looked different advertising strategies on how to effectively reach consumers. In a
time when the price of an advertisement is going up, but the effectiveness of reaching the
consumers is going down advertisers are left trying to figure out a way to reach consumers. This
film looked at different strategies that were used in the past, and strategies that are currently being
used to break through the clutter. Clutter refers to the amount of advertisinga consumer is exposed
to on a daily basis. The key to success as this film points out, is to break through that clutter and
brand advertisements better than the competitor, while appealing to the consumer. Overall, this
film looked at different areas of how advertising use to be about choice words, such as better
brighter tougher . Then some companies decided to target an emotional appeal to the consumer.
For example, the film uses the airline Song to specifically look at targeting the needs of women.
The commercial that was constructed showed used an emotional appeal before showing different
services that Song uses. Finally, the video talked about how the consumer wants to have a feeling
of entitlement and being in charge. If an advertiser wants to be successful in this sense they need
to make the consumer feel like the advertisement is specifically targeted to them. Overall, if a
company wants to make good use of their advertising budget, they need to keep up with the new
demands and changes in the behavior

Speech On Frequency Hopping
Frequency hopping, which is used in WiFi, was invented by Hedy Lamar in 1942. She was an
actress and know to be the most beautiful women in the world. Although she didn t want to be
known for her beauty. She wanted to be known for her intelligence. When she invented
frequency hopping she displayed it to the navy and they declined it, and she sold her paten
away. Later in her life the navy did use it, and then it became WiFi. She died soon after. WiFi is
the best invention and most useful in the world to me for a lot of reasons. It makes your phone
go ten times faster. When you aren t connected to wifi then it takes about thirty seconds for a
video to play, or it takes a minute for a text to send. That might seem short but when you are
connected to wifi it makes everything faster. It takes a video to play as soon as you click on it, and
a text to send in five seconds. I am a very impatient person, and when something doesn t play or

money as well for data. Now I have a limit set on my phone. If I give over five gigabytes my data

was the worst experience of my life. I haven t gone over since because I made sure I was always
connected to wifi. If WiFi was never invented, I would go over every month and have no data for
the rest of the month until it got renewed. One other small reason is my school iPad. I can t go

The Health Care System Of Ontario
Introduction
The health care system in Ontario has been subjected to a lot of criticism and investigation since its
introduction midway through the twentieth century. In the past decade, there has been a significant
increase in the demand of healthcare, due to increase in the population from immigration and also,
an increase in the chronic diseases among the residents of Ontario, which in turn has affected the
overall quality of the provision of healthcare. Due to its availability to wide range of people it has
become evident that the health care system has been restricted by incorporation of various strict
time consuming policies, which may cause the current healthcare system to be unsustainable in the
future. Therefore, healthcare industry has added resources to accommodate increase in demands
and the needs of the Ontarians, but this does not eliminate the problem that Ontario lacks a system
wide and sustained approach to improve quality of primary healthcare, which will be further
discussed in the paper.
Historical Background
According to the Constitutional Act of 1867, it was the responsibility of the province to publically
establish and maintain hospitals, asylums, charities and charitable institutions. Federal government
took control of the public health care from 1867 1919 after which, healthcare in Canada became a
completely private sector. People who needed health care were expected to pay for the services
themselves. The supply of medical services was minimal

Compare And Contrast Renaissance And Humanism
Renaissance, which means rebirth in French, might be defined as the awakening of art, literature,
architecture and learning in Europe between fourteenth and mid sixteenth centuries through the
contribution of classical sources. Despite the fact that it was originated in Italy, it started to spread
throughout Europe and contributed to the transition from the Medieval Age to the modern one.
Proponents of this movement emphatically connected themselves with the values of classical
antiquity, especially as seen in the recently rediscovered works of art of writing and history.
Additionally, they had a tendency to separate themselves from works written in the Middle Ages, a
historical period they looked upon rather negatively. According to them, the Middle Ages were set
in the center of two significantly profitable periods. In the same way, Humanism, which has an ideal
of placing human beings at the center of the universe rather than God, was the major intellectual
movement of the Renaissanceand then it became the dominant sophisticated movement in Europe in
the 16th century. Supporters of this movement asserted that humanistic studies, comprising of the

a program were to be created, the programmer would have to know exactly how each piece of
hardware interacted and communicated with the system itself. Due to this, software development
was significantly more difficult than it is today. Through the use of hardware abstraction layers
in the modern day however, programmers don t require all of this information due to their
programs being compatible with any device. Hardware abstraction layers (HAL) allow the
operating system to interact with hardware elements of the machine that said operating system is

The Windows NT family of operating systems utilises a HAL directly from the kernel of the
system, in the kernel space between hardware and executive services in the file NTOSKRL.EXE.
Using this HAL, kernel mode code is made much more portable despite having different memory
management architectures, and different I/O bus architectures. Resource management in an
operating systems environment is the controlled allocation and de allocation of system resources,
for example; processor cores, memory pages, bandwidth and many others. These resources tend to
be shared by various programs running on the machine which require them in order for the program
itself to run accurately, and also to ensure that the machine can allocate just enough resources so
that everything can run smoothly. Two methods of multiplexing (sharing) these resources; time
multiplexing, and space multiplexing. Using a computer which has several users, means that the
importance and needs of managing and protecting resources such as memory, and processing cores
are even greater than otherwise. This is because users would have to share files with each other
which could potentially end in disaster for end user. Multiplexing (sharing) of resources in the
operating system is done in two different ways, these are; time multiplexing, and space
multiplexing. When time multiplexing a resource, it involves the resources have different programs

The deep sea cephalopod called the vampire squid is a very unique organism. In 1903 it was found

the octopus. Another common name for the vampire squid is the squid from hell. the name comes
from the colors of the squid. The squid colors can vary from velvet jet black to a pale reddish
color. Their color depends on where they are located meaning how much light they reach. Even

Scientist think that vampire squids reproduce by the male leaving sperm in the female s sac.
Females store the sperm for weeks before the eggs are fertilized. It takes about thirteen months
for the babies to be born. Because they are born bigger, the female will have fewer babies than
other species. Their is no certain time that they are breaded the eggs are found all year around.
Many deep sea cephalopods do not have ink sacs. Vampire squids are also in that category. When
it feels threatened it almost turns itself inside out by curling its arms backwards and wrapping
them around its body. When they do this their body showing spiny projections. It many also

The Difference Between Civil Rights And Civil Rights
I noted that the U.S. civil liberties, as well as, U.S. civil rights are generally located in the first ten
amendments to the Constitution, known as the Bill of Rights, as well as, the Fourteenth
Amendment. The distinction between civil liberties and civil rights is blurred since the concepts
are used interchangeably, even though they refer to different kinds of guaranteed protections. Civil
liberties are protections against government actions. Whereas civil rightsrefer to positive actions
governments should take to create equal conditions. The primary objective of this essay is to
distinguish between civil rights and civil liberties. In this essay, I present a case related to the

Essay on The Effects of Parenting Styles on Child Outcome
There is no way in which parents can evade having a determining effect upon their children s
personality, character, and competence (Baumrind, 1978). It is amazing that children who are
raised in completely different environments can go on to possess similar characteristics later in life.
But why is this the case? The functions that parents perform greatly influence how children
develop. A tremendous amount of research has been done on the effects of parenting styles since
1966 when Diana Baumrind first published her three prototypes of parenting styles, but many
parents fail to understand the power they possess in shaping the future lives of their children and
the need for a responsible strategy regarding the rearing of their... Show more content on

Although most indicative of Western society, these parenting styles have been validated in other
countries as well, including Australia, China, and Russia (Hart, et al., 1998; Leung et al., 1998). A
large amount of literature published before the 1990s focused on the effects of parenting styles on
the outcomes of children, establishing the benefits of the authoritative style as opposed to the
negative outcomes generated by the authoritarian and permissive approaches (Demo Cox, 2000). In
essence, the authoritative style is a strategy that sets reasonable rules and guidelines that are in the
best interests of the child. These rules supply structure while still allowing the child to explore and
begin the process of learning what behaviors are acceptable. The authoritative approach to parenting
is considered to be the most balanced style. In this category, children are expected to maintain
maturity and respect for the rules and regulations that are set in place. An open dialogue between
the parent and the child is encouraged. This allows children to feel independent. Any punishment is
reasonable and typically explained to the child so that they understand what it is that they did
wrong and why they were punished. This approach to parenting yields many benefits for the child.
Children who are products of this approach generally see higher academic achievement during

Folk Music Research Paper
Folk Rock music is my favorite genre to listen to, such as the Lumineers, Mumford and Sons,
and Judah and the Lion. Folk Rock music is a blend between folk music that is blended with
rock and pop; it was created in the 1960 s when it started out with two different artists, Bob
Dylan the Band, and the Byrd s. The folk revival of the 1960s is often the starting point of
fascination with the style for many contemporary folk fans. One big effect of the 60s folk revival

Country music is interesting to me since it is a genre where a bunch of different genres
originated from such as folk rock, the similarity of the style to folk rock and bluegrass, and also
that most country artists write and sing their own pieces. Country music was developed right
here in the USA down in the south in the 1920 s, being that was the first ever recording. It is also
one of the firsts of popular modern American music. In the 1930 s and 1940 s before the
television was invented, it was common that American families would sit around a radio to
listen to entertainment, and one of the most popular programs was a live country show called
the Grand Ole Opry . It was based out of Nashville, which we all know as the home of country
music. Back then people would listen to what was called Western music which would have a
bunch of clicks and clacks and sound like a horse like beat and would have singing cowboys. In
the early 1950 s another kind of country music developed and it was known as bluegrass, and the
later in the 1960 s country rock began to appear since the country genre was being beat out by rock
bands (and this is also when my favorite, Folk Rock, became about.) During this time is also when
other genres began to come about such as Folk Rock and Country Pop. Instruments that are
typically used in the country genre are pretty much all string instruments such as the acoustic guitar,

How Does Walter Mitty Escape His Fantasies
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is a short story by James Thurber, is a story of man who goes
through an ordinary life fantasizing about a secret life where everything is great for him. In his
fantasies Walter Mitty is everything he isn t in real life. Mitty uses these fantasies to forget the
things he dislikes about his reality. Walter s life isn t anything special and he goes into his
fantasies to escape from the fact that he is insecure/shy, he s being bossed around by his wife,
and he can t do simple tasks. The first reason why Walter Mitty escapes his fantasies is because
he is not confident, or able to stand up for himself in real world. For example in the text Mrs.
Mitty asks Walter, Why don t you wear your gloves? (232) and he puts them on. As soon as she
leaves, though, he takes them off. This demonstrates that Walter... Show more content on

with everyday tasks. He also talks to the parking attendant in a low, nervous voice. Walter isn t
calm person in real life. Walter Mitty makes up for these mistakes in his another fantasy by
becoming a famous surgeon. He imagines saving the life of a millionaire, and president friend.
Thurber writes how the other doctors in Mitty s fantasy tell him, No one in the East knows how

Trace Of Political Parties From Conception Through Civil War
Trace of Political Parties from Conception through Civil War Since 1787, there has been constant
competition for promoting political ideals in this nation. These groups are known as Political
Parties. From the big political parties to the small parties, they all have a part in history. The use of
these political parties is traced from conception up until the civil war.
In the late 1700 s, the political party known as The Federalists doubted the United States would
become a great commercial power. The Federalist dominated the new government. According to the
book, Although no one welcomed them, the political parties gradually took shape (Brands, H.W.,
Breen, T.H., Williams, B.H., and Gross, A.J. 170). The federalist encouraged a very rapid
integration of the United States into a world economy, but however avid they were about
capitalism, the Federalist nor the Republicans did not trust the people or local government to do the
job adequately. They insisted on a modern economy, which would require a strong national society.
In 1887, Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, and James Madison wrote The Federalist. The name
implied that the new government wouldn t be a drastically different from the old government. It
would still be a federal government, one in which the states would share power with the central
government. These claims frightened persons who came to identify themselves as Jeffersonian s,
Republicans, or the anti federalist.
The anti federalist were very suspicious of

quotes given by the US district attorney Denny Chin that give a mere glimpse into the horrible
impact that Bernie Madoff has had on 21st century American society. Madoff cheated investors

EWU Personal Statement
The first time I ve ever visited Cheney and laid eyes on EWU, I was about 15 years old. I was on a
field trip from Jenkins High School, located in Chewelah, WA. I remembered being floored by
EWU s theatre arts program, the vastness of the campus, and diversity of the student body. I
craved to be apart of it. However, I felt that it was all beyond my ability at that point in my life.
During high school, I struggled to maintain my grades and focus. I was in a small town, and
every ounce of opportunity seemed to slowly be sucked away from the town as the years past
with the aid of the downward economic spiral beginning. I felt, like many of my fellow classmates,
that opportunity had passed us by. I didn t dare conjure even the thought of attending Eastern; it

I failed a chemistry class, even with tutoring, meetings with the teachers, and at home tutoring
from my roommate who was attending EWU as a Biology/Chemistry major. The disaster of that
course, diminished my thinly restored confidence and I fled. I took up an opportunity to
become an expat and live in Lebanon. The first summer I was there, I witnessed the war between
Palestine and Israel, only a country away. The impact my experiences changed how I viewed
privilege and what I had taken for granted back home. I felt ashamed at what I had so readily
given up in self pity and comparatively meager issues. Thus, after teaching English for a year
and traveling, the profound realization of how imperative my education was towards helping
the world become a better place sank in. I wanted to go farther than I ever had but this time I was
going to do it right. My life became an awareness of the worlds pain, its need, and my
insuppressible desire to solve it. I moved back to Chewelah after nearly a year and a half in

The Harding Trust Essay
Case Study: Contingent pay at The Harding Trust
Introduction
In this essay, I shall make my evaluation on whether Performance Related Pay (PRP) should be
introduced to The Harding Trust (THT). The theoretical ideology of PRP will be looked at, as
well as the practical implications of the scheme. Factors of great importance, that may well
determine the impact of PRP on THT, will also be examined. Through my evaluation, I shall
place a significant focus on advantages and disadvantages of PRP as well as how they could
affect THT. I will pay special attention to the impact that PRP could make on employee
performance and the overall organization. All arguments and facts will be presented from
organizational point of view as well as from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Impact on Morale amp; Job Satisfaction
PRP might be considered as a scheme contributing to the creation of a challenging work
environment and allowing for career development where individuals are fairly recognized. The
term fair relates to the idea of each employee being rewarded in accordance with the individual
efforts made .As such, the system is likely to have a rather positive impact on morale amp; job
satisfaction. However a number of studies have shown signs of negativity towards PRP, mainly
based on the way in which the scheme is perceived by employees. Michelle Brown and John S.
investigate the problem and make an argument that employee s perception of PRP is often
associated with the common opinion that the scheme is unfair, gives way to favoritism and is
often based on unrealistic goals (reference 8). Formulating an opinion around these arguments, one
would suggest that if PRP is perceived by THT employees as being unfair, the introduction of the
scheme would lead to decline in morale and job satisfaction. It should be noted here that THT s
current reward system does not bear similar risks as it s solely based on

I think that Muslim discrimination in America got worse, but some things have to get worse to get
better. Historically and presently, when Muslims travel to the United States or live in the US they
face discrimination because of a small number of Islamic extremists take their religion too far.
Historically there have been attacks on America that caused the discrimination. Currently in the US
there have been some attacks by extremists and radical terrorists. The islamic terrorists are trying to
protect their religion from the United Statesof America. In the future, I think there will still be
discrimination against Muslimpeople. Further in the future there could be a time when there is very
minimal discrimination against Muslims.

Chemical Pollution
Biological, Chemical, and Physical Agent
Water pollution is caused when water contains excessive amounts of biological agents
microorganisms, such as bacterial species, viruses, worms, and/or algae. This type of pollution is
caused by decaying organic material in water, animal wastes, as well as improper disposal of human
wastes. Chemical pollution is defined as the presence or increase in our environment of chemical
pollutants that are not naturally present, or are found in amounts higher than normal. Most of the
chemicals that pollute the environment are man made, resulting from the various activities in
which toxic chemicals are used for various purposes. The impacts are normally identified with the
introduction to high measures of chemicals. Chemical contamination prompts different valid
sicknesses, by and large by devouring toxic food, drinking exceptionally tainted water, or breathing
poor quality air.

Graceling Character Analysis
I was really excited when people told me there was romance, action, and adventure because they
re my favorite genres. But, I was disappointed when I read the first page. It s 3rd person limited. I
thought it would be a little harder to connect with the characters. However, as I kept rereading
some lines and questioning the characters, it became easier for me to understand them. For
example, Katsa, the main character of Graceling, written by Kristin Cashmore, musters up her
courage to defy Randa because she could no longer tolerate him even though she was afraid to
imagine what would happen next. Randa wanted others to fear him and to do that, he had Katsa
torture peoplewho didn t listen to his orders. According to Susan Fisk, empathy for another s
happiness and suffering depends fundamentally on recognizing that the other has a mind that is, the
same capacities for thought, emotion, desire, intention, and self awareness as ourselves. I
empathize with Bitterblue as she is strong facing hardships throughout the book.
Bitterblue s father is a villain who enjoys torturing others, but her courage still remains. Leck s grace
allows him to manipulate people with his voice and the people who hears it, spreads it. He has
the option to ask, but he prefers to do it with his grace instead as he finds it more amusing and
hides his grace with an eyepatch. That way, others would not suspect that he is a Graceling. My
father isn t like that. But, I am able to understand that others would find Bitterblue s emotions aren t
ordinary. What would Leck have her do when he controls her? Would he make her killher loved
ones? What if he did that to you and if he was your father? Having someone take control of your
mind is absolutely terrifying. Of course she would be scared too. But would fear take over her
mind? No. As Leck controls Bitterblue, Asher, and his whole kingdom, I wonder what his
purpose is, He s the king of Monsea yet he needs to control them all mentally too. Perhaps he
wants to take over the world. Although he controlled Bitterblue and her mom multiple times, they
found out a remedy to snap out of it which was by reminding each other. Whenever she saw her
mom s scars, she would be able to remember who Leck truly is.

Importance Of Sequence Specific Primer PCR
Sequence specific primer PCR
With the advancement of sequencing technology, vast information on DNA sequences of many
animal genomes has been developed (Goff et al. 2002; Yu et al. 2002). In order to correlate DNA
sequence information with particular a phenotype of a trait, sequence specific molecular marker
techniques have been designed. Expressed sequence tags (EST) analysis is one such type. By
adopting this method, Expressed sequence tags of many animal species have been created and these
sequences are subjected as putative functional genes by using advanced bioinformatics tools.
Allozyme markers
Allozymes are allelic variants of proteins produced by a single gene locus, and are of interest as
markers because polymorphism exists and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They usually exhibit simple Mendelian inheritance and codominant expression, making genetic
interpretations easy. Disadvantages associated with allozymes include heterozygote deficiencies
due to null (enzymatically inactive) alleles and the amount and quality of tissue samples required
(Hillis et al., 1996). In addition, some changes in DNA sequence are masked at the protein level,
reducing the level of detectable variation. Some changes in nucleotide sequence do not change the
encoded polypeptide (silent substitutions), and some polypeptide changes do not alter the mobility
of the protein in an electrophoretic gel (synonymous substitutions). Moreover, genetic variations
caused by mutations are expressed as amino acid replacements due to changes in protein
compositions, and are resolved as bands (alleles) on electrophoresis (DeYoung and Honeycutt,
2005). However, other limitations developed by allozymes are highly biased genomic sampling
(only genes encoding well documented, soluble proteins are detectable); a low number of markers,
insufficient for examining major portions of the genome; occasional differences between tissues or
ontogenetic stages; and difficulty in the standardization of experimental methods from laboratory to
laboratory (DeYoung and Honeycutt, 2005). Low levels of genetic variation revealed in many
allozyme studies of animal populations prompted a continued search for markers with greater
genetic resolution.

Although physical torture is now illegal, it does not stop police from using other methods of
psychological deception. One of the most popular methods is showing the suspect falsified or
fabricated evidence, otherwise known as a false evidence ploy (FEP). There are three
categories: demeanor, testimonial and scientific. A study done in 2007 showed that ninety two
percent of a sample of 631 policemen used FEPs to gain a confession (Forrest, 2012). Demeanor
FEPs are characterized by the behavior of the suspect and using those assumptions to determine
whether or not he or she is guilty. Sayings such as We can tell the way you re acting that you are
not innocent and You don t seemed surprised or sad that he is dead show that detectives and
police use the suspects appearance and behavior to specify guilt, even though there is no evidence
proving it. Testimonial FEPs are one of the most common and consist of eyewitnesses, video
surveillance or a co conspirator that puts them at the place and time of the crime. In 2009 Nash and
Wade conducted a study showing the power behind this kind of FEP. All of the participants signed
and admission of guilt when viewing a falsified video recording or even the threat that there might
be incriminating evidence. Scientific FEPs are viewed as the most deceptive and coerced due to
their seemingly undeniable nature. These include fingerprints, DNA, medical reports and other

The Reasons Of The Cuba Embargo Against Cuba
Cuba embargo has failed. During the last 50 years, the United States government has maintained

Embargo did not get the result for it was indented. Furthermore, the embargo has been failed policy

service disruption. The layer 2 is designed to streamline change management and service turn up
without WAN disruption with fewer errors. It offers a high availability through real time
recovery and resiliency at the network, device and design levels. Cisco Layer 2 Resiliency offers
increased system redundancy at the platform level, network security through access layer defense,
identity based trust, pervasive security and management as well as providing device posture
assessments. Operational efficiency is achieved through automated configuration, proactive
diagnostics and simplified troubleshooting. This is designed to provide predictable application
performance to support converged applications as well as support IP multicast for new
applications. As with HP s IRF Resiliency, there are several disadvantages associated with Cisco
Layer 2 Resiliency. The router supports REP only when the router is running the metro IP access or
the metro access image. You have to configure each segment port or an incorrect configuration will
cause forwarding loops in networks. REP can only manage one failed port within a segment.
Multiple port failures within the REP segment cause high loss of network connectivity.
Due to its simplistic manageability and scalability I would recommend HP s IRF Resiliency over

Interactive Slots Are The Future Of Casino Games. When
Interactive Slots are the future of Casino games
When you walk into a casino, the first thing to greet you upon your arrival is usually a bright
and shiny video lottery machine, better know as a slot machine. Slot machines are easy to play,
and you can play at your own pace without having to deal with other humans. They are
comforting and simple, leaving the user with an easy task of pushing a putting or pulling a lever.
However, they hold a dirty secret too. The worst odds of all the games you can play at a casino are
those shiny slot machines, with the house having an edge of 10% or more (compared to a 1%
house edge in blackjack for example). Casinos have designed their hotels to take advantage of this
edge, placing slot machines as far ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After using these free online lessons to learn how to play these table games, they go into casinos
not just knowing the basics of the game (taking some of the intimidation away from tables that
would usually push them to the slots) but also with some strategy involved that puts the casino at
less of an advantage compared to younger consumers in the past.
Decline in popularity of slot machines
Because of this switch in popularity from slots to table games, the number of slot machines in
Nevada has dropped from 217,000 in 2001 to 175,000 in 2014. The earnings from slots have
fallen too, as the Center for Gambling Research at UNLV has concluded that Nevada casinos
have experienced a 20% reduction in slot revenue from 2007 to 2014. For MGM resorts itself,
slot revenues have declined from $2 billion in 2006 to $1.65 billion in 2010, mostly as a result of
the economic recession experienced throughout the country, before slowly growing to $1.67 billion
in 2013. Despite the decrease in overall revenues from slots, the casinos have increased its from
every slot machine per day despite shutting down some slots. At the same time, the company has
reported an increase in table games revenues. I think this shift by consumers as a whole, and
especially millennials, is showing that the gambling public is more interested in

Nihilism In Mrs Dalloway
Virginia Woolf s outlook on life as expressed through the novel, Mrs. Dalloway is pessimistic
and even cynical. Both, the satirical parts of the novel and the serious and tragic parts of it
convey this pessimistic philosophy of life and nihilism. Mrs. Dalloway is a representation of the
post war civilization. The outward façade of that civilization, its external glitter and brilliance, its
pomp and show, its social snobbery, its hypocrisy and its material achievements etc are all
represented through the life of Dalloways. Virginia Woolf
has juxtaposed this zest for life and
outward pretence with the hollowness of mankind which is rotten within. So the novel generally
portrays the concept of nihilismthrough the spiritual death and emptiness of post war civilization.
The paper generally examines this notion of nothingness where values are baseless and no
loyalties exist in the world. As depicted in the novel, there is no as such concept of reliability exist
within the relationships of husbands and wives, for instance, Richard and Clarissa Dalloway or

Both the characters loved life and yet both understand the safety and release which death hold

of loneliness as well as protection from people like Dr. Bradshaw and Holmes. It was feeling of

orphanages. While his actions during his career kept him from gaining a job in baseball during his

Freedman Research Paper
A freedman or freedwoman is a former slave who has been released from slavery, usually by
legal means. Historically, slaves were freed either by manumission (granted freedom by their
owner) or emancipation (granted freedom as part of a larger group). The life of a freedman
changed in the years 1865 through 1896 in many different ways. Socially the amounts of
segregation intensity increased dramatically. Politically freedman could vote, there was what s
known as The African AmericanCongress , and the 15th amendment was created. Economically
sharecropping was growing in popularity.
Segregation is separating a certain person from a larger group of people based on what they look
like, for instance an african american person vs a white person. Segregation was shown in many
different ways like, signs that would get put up by a drinking fountain with an arrow pointing one
way for whites and an arrow pointing another way for colored people. In 1896 the case Plessy v.
Ferguson brought a ton of attention to the law that basically said equal but separate . The Article
Segregation said, In 1896, the federal government sanctioned racial segregation, fashioning the
constitutional rationale for keeping the races legally apart. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The African American Congress was created when the first two african americans, were voted into
congress after the Reconstruction Era. Freedman could also vote, the voting rules and regulations
were pretty strict though. President Johnson used the fifteenth amendment to exercise the voting
rights of african american people, or as they were also known as freedmen. The fifteenth
amendment states that citizens should have the right to vote no matter race, color, or previous life
styles. All of these different things changed the life of a freedman because they were so opposite to
what they were living like. Although everything was perfect things were still better. (DOCS

A Summary Of The Clash Of Civilizations
Samuel P. Huntington, who was an American political scientist and adviser, wrote The Clash of
Civilizations. The Clash of Civilizations focused on the claim that people s cultural differences and
religious identities is the primary source of conflict during the post Cold War era in the 1990 s.
Huntington believes that in the future the only reason conflict will arise will be because of the
differences in cultural identities. Furthermore, Huntington divided the world into what he calls,
major civilizations , that consisted nine civilizations: Western, Orthodox, Islamic, Buddhist, Hindu,
African, Latin American, Sinic, and Japanese. He believes that conflict is created because of these
differences between the major civilizations. Then, in his work, he suggested six different reasons on
why these civilizations causes conflict with each other. These suggestions stretches from increasing
interactions across the world to having the differences in language, tradition, and religion from one
civilizationto another. Additionally, Huntington does believe that there are nine major civilizations
in the world; however, he believes that the major conflict will be within the West versus the Rest
concept. The main conflict will arise from Westernized civilizations against Non Westernized
civilizations and because of this I agree with Huntington that cultural differences around the world
separate each everyone into different civilizations. I believe that Huntington s observations about

The Outsiders As A Disgrace In The Outsiders And Greasers
Being called a disgrace can be hurtful, but are you actually one? In the book, The outsiders,
there are two groups of people that are called Greasers and Socs. Characters in the novel tend to
believe that Greasers are troublemakers and Socs are the higher class teens. Socs are a disgrace
because of their actions and attitudes. The Socs are a disgrace because they beat up greasers
based off of their money issues and the side of a city they live on. If you are someone who is
rich like a soc and is in a better environment and situation you are expected to be more respectful.
Teens with a strong foundation are more responsible, and kids who have no parents or anyone
that is a positive role model end up doing more of what they want. Kids that grow up on a wrong
side of town tend to make the most crimes based off of how they were raised. As a Soc, they are
being a disgrace by the way they act. Most people in this novel think that Greasers are a disgrace,
but no one notices how badly the Socs treat Greasers. The socs bully greasers and that could be
causing more anger to build in the greasers that cause them to act out. Socs verbally and
physically abuse them, it s one thing to steal but it s another when you hurt someone mentally or
physically on purpose. I ve seen with my own eyes that kids who have been hurt by others or their
parents cause them to act out and do things they normally wouldn t do because of their built up
anger. No one knows what happens at home for a

There is really nothing wrong with the mission statement because it is straight to the point and very simplistic. • 3. The Collective Societal Memory Of The World War II Essay Elizabeth Heineman argued in her article that the collective societal memory of the experiences of German women in the immediate aftermath of World War II greatly contributed to the development of West German national identity, and directly influenced their eventual status in the partitioned country.1 She suggested that in order to fully comprehend this history of memories it was necessary to understand the distinctions and interconnections between what she refereed to as counter , popular , and official memories.2 In order to support this argument, the author conducted a series of formulaic analyses on the German perception toward women in three major areas of Post War German cultural memory; war rapes by Soviet soldiers; the experiences of women who rebuilt the nation and the economy without much assistance from men; and finally those women who fraternized with Allied soldiers. She began her formula by first exploring the universalization of certain aspects of what became the stereotypical female experience of Germans at the end of World War II through the immediate post war years.3 Next, she examined the effects of the universalization of the female German experience upon the formation of the West German national identity.4 This second point was further elaborated with an analysis of the relationship between counter memories of subordinate groups and the public or popular memories of the dominant culture, national identity, and culture of West Germany.5 ... The pounding of my heart upon my chest like a v8 in a stock car, meant I was running at 110%. I stared back at the temple was crumbling, I was almost to the window I could taste the humid jungle air already.I could feel my legs burning, my feet losing sensation and my lungs gasping for air. Finally, with the last of my energy I push off of the ledge and plummeted towards fate, as my life rested in God s hands as I fell 150ft into the abyss. I could bring these tall tales to college, but I rather talk about my personal adventure. The story of my adventure to Paristo experience the rich French culture. To explore the Spanish culture while I was in Spanish immersion. I may not be an explorer of ancient ruins, however I still explore different cultures, as well as explored unique opportunities that expanded my knowledge and skills, all this has added up to unique attributes I hold, and are willing to share. Traveling around the world may be a dream for some, but for me I rather explore the world. If there is no relationship present, there is essentially no story; in the short story A Temporary Matter by Jhumpa Lahiri the entire story focuses on the married immigrants, Shoba and Shukumar, and their relationship. Unfortunately, their relationship is an example of something that is commonly seen in many North American relationships. Many have taken a stand against the genetic modifying of organisms, but what many of these people fail to realize is that humans as a species have been modifying organisms based on genetics for thousands of years. Our faithful companions, who were once wolves, were selectively bred based on their genes that expressed faithfulness to humans (Rangel 10). • 12. The Health Care System Of Ontario Introduction The health care system in Ontario has been subjected to a lot of criticism and investigation since its introduction midway through the twentieth century. In the past decade, there has been a significant increase in the demand of healthcare, due to increase in the population from immigration and also, an increase in the chronic diseases among the residents of Ontario, which in turn has affected the overall quality of the provision of healthcare. Due to its availability to wide range of people it has become evident that the health care system has been restricted by incorporation of various strict time consuming policies, which may cause the current healthcare system to be unsustainable in the future. Therefore, healthcare industry has added resources to accommodate increase in demands and the needs of the Ontarians, but this does not eliminate the problem that Ontario lacks a system wide and sustained approach to improve quality of primary healthcare, which will be further discussed in the paper. Historical Background According to the Constitutional Act of 1867, it was the responsibility of the province to publically establish and maintain hospitals, asylums, charities and charitable institutions. Proponents of this movement emphatically connected themselves with the values of classical antiquity, especially as seen in the recently rediscovered works of art of writing and history. Additionally, they had a tendency to separate themselves from works written in the Middle Ages, a historical period they looked upon rather negatively. According to them, the Middle Ages were set in the center of two significantly profitable periods. In the same way, Humanism, which has an ideal of placing human beings at the center of the universe rather than God, was the major intellectual movement of the Renaissanceand then it became the dominant sophisticated movement in Europe in the 16th century. The functions that parents perform greatly influence how children develop. In essence, the authoritative style is a strategy that sets reasonable rules and guidelines that are in the best interests of the child. These rules supply structure while still allowing the child to explore and begin the process of learning what behaviors are acceptable. The authoritative approach to parenting is considered to be the most balanced style. In this category, children are expected to maintain maturity and respect for the rules and regulations that are set in place. An open dialogue between the parent and the child is encouraged. The use of these political parties is traced from conception up until the civil war. In the late 1700 s, the political party known as The Federalists doubted the United States would become a great commercial power. The Federalist dominated the new government. Factors of great importance, that may well determine the impact of PRP on THT, will also be examined. Through my evaluation, I shall place a significant focus on advantages and disadvantages of PRP as well as how they could affect THT. The term fair relates to the idea of each employee being rewarded in accordance with the individual efforts made .As such, the system is likely to have a rather positive impact on morale amp; job satisfaction. However a number of studies have shown signs of negativity towards PRP, mainly based on the way in which the scheme is perceived by employees. Michelle Brown and John S. investigate the problem and make an argument that employee s perception of PRP is often associated with the common opinion that the scheme is unfair, gives way to favoritism and is often based on unrealistic goals (reference 8). Formulating an opinion around these arguments, one would suggest that if PRP is perceived by THT employees as being unfair, the introduction of the scheme would lead to decline in morale and job satisfaction. But, I was disappointed when I read the first page. It s 3rd person limited. I thought it would be a little harder to connect with the characters. However, as I kept rereading some lines and questioning the characters, it became easier for me to understand them. For example, Katsa, the main character of Graceling, written by Kristin Cashmore, musters up her courage to defy Randa because she could no longer tolerate him even though she was afraid to imagine what would happen next. Randa wanted others to fear him and to do that, he had Katsa torture peoplewho didn t listen to his orders. According to Susan Fisk, empathy for another s happiness and suffering depends fundamentally on recognizing that the other has a mind that is, the same capacities for thought, emotion, desire, intention, and self awareness as ourselves. I empathize with Bitterblue as she is strong facing hardships throughout the book. Bitterblue s father is a villain who enjoys torturing others, but her courage still remains. Leck s grace allows him to manipulate people with his voice and the people who hears it, spreads it. He has the option to ask, but he prefers to do it with his grace instead as he finds it more amusing and hides his grace with an eyepatch. That way, others would not suspect that he is a Graceling. My father isn t like that. But, I am able to understand that others would find Bitterblue s emotions aren t ordinary. What would Leck have her do when he controls her? Would he make her killher loved ones? What if he did that to you and if he was your father? Having someone take control of your mind is absolutely terrifying. Of course she would be scared too. But would fear take over her mind? No. As Leck controls Bitterblue, Asher, and his whole kingdom, I wonder what his purpose is, He s the king of Monsea yet he needs to control them all mentally too. Perhaps he wants to take over the world. Although he controlled Bitterblue and her mom multiple times, they found out a remedy to snap out of it which was by reminding each other. Expressed sequence tags (EST) analysis is one such type. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They usually exhibit simple Mendelian inheritance and codominant expression, making genetic interpretations easy. Disadvantages associated with allozymes include heterozygote deficiencies due to null (enzymatically inactive) alleles and the amount and quality of tissue samples required (Hillis et al., 1996). In addition, some changes in DNA sequence are masked at the protein level, reducing the level of detectable variation. Some changes in nucleotide sequence do not change the encoded polypeptide (silent substitutions), and some polypeptide changes do not alter the mobility of the protein in an electrophoretic gel (synonymous substitutions). Moreover, genetic variations caused by mutations are expressed as amino acid replacements due to changes in protein compositions, and are resolved as bands (alleles) on electrophoresis (DeYoung and Honeycutt, 2005). However, other limitations developed by allozymes are highly biased genomic sampling (only genes encoding well documented, soluble proteins are detectable); a low number of markers, insufficient for examining major portions of the genome; occasional differences between tissues or ontogenetic stages; and difficulty in the standardization of experimental methods from laboratory to laboratory (DeYoung and Honeycutt, 2005). Low levels of genetic variation revealed in many allozyme studies of animal populations prompted a continued search for markers with greater genetic resolution. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Clash of Civilizations focused on the claim that people s cultural differences and religious identities is the primary source of conflict during the post Cold War era in the 1990 s. Huntington believes that in the future the only reason conflict will arise will be because of the differences in cultural identities. Furthermore, Huntington divided the world into what he calls, major civilizations , that consisted nine civilizations: Western, Orthodox, Islamic, Buddhist, Hindu, African, Latin American, Sinic, and Japanese. He believes that conflict is created because of these differences between the major civilizations. In the book, The outsiders, there are two groups of people that are called Greasers and Socs. Characters in the novel tend to believe that Greasers are troublemakers and Socs are the higher class teens. Socs are a disgrace because of their actions and attitudes. The Socs are a disgrace because they beat up greasers based off of their money issues and the side of a city they live on. If you are someone who is rich like a soc and is in a better environment and situation you are expected to be more respectful. Teens with a strong foundation are more responsible, and kids who have no parents or anyone that is a positive role model end up doing more of what they want. Kids that grow up on a wrong side of town tend to make the most crimes based off of how they were raised. As a Soc, they are being a disgrace by the way they act. Most people in this novel think that Greasers are a disgrace, but no one notices how badly the Socs treat Greasers. The socs bully greasers and that could be causing more anger to build in the greasers that cause them to act out. Socs verbally and physically abuse them, it s one thing to steal but it s another when you hurt someone mentally or physically on purpose. I ve seen with my own eyes that kids who have been hurt by others or their parents cause them to act out and do things they normally wouldn t do because of their built up anger. No one knows what happens at home for a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
