Volunteer, replacement, professional, apheresis, autologous, and directed donors are the main types of blood donors. Donor screening involves testing donations for blood type, Rh type, and infections like hepatitis B, hepatitis C, syphilis, and HIV. Blood is collected and stored in blood bags using equipment that includes donor chairs, collection monitors, tube sealers, extractors, refrigerators, centrifuges, incubators, and warmers.
