30 Day Goals
We all want the same things:

★ To love and be loved
★ To be seen
★ To contribute
★ To connect
★ To belong
★ To achieve mastery
★ To be affirmed
Alignment:
Living in agreement with your
values and purpose.
Keys to Alignment
• Knowing your “why” can help you identify
your values and purpose.
• We don’t just want goals for goals sake.
• Pay attention to what resonates.
• Start (we’ll refine along the way).
• Show up/Get out of the stands and into the
arena.
Most Important Things
(MITs)
• We aren’t able to focus on too many things
at once.
• Choosing 3-4 MITs forcing ourselves to
prioritize before we feel the “crunch.”
Pick 3-4 MITs for the
next 30 days.
Master the
20 Minute Window
20 Minute Window
• Pomodoro technique.
• 20 minutes is effective.
• More frequent is usually better than a
longer duration.
• KISS (keep it simple, silly)
SMART Goals
• Specific
• Measurable
• Attainable
• Relevant
• Time-Bound
Specific
• What (What do I want to accomplish?)
• Why (Reason for accomplishing the goal)
Measurable
• How will you know it is accomplished?
Attainable
• Goal needs to be reasonable for the time
period given.
Relevant
• Does the goal relate to your “Why” or
your purpose in life?
Time-Bound
• Goal has a clear time period in which to be
completed.
Not SMART vs SMART?
• Work on my novel vs. add 5000 new words to the novel.
• Exercise regularly vs exercise for at least 30 minutes
three times a week.
• Expand my social circle vs. sign up for a new class.
• Declutter the house vs. clean out hall closet in an hour
and take the donations to Goodwill.
Plan for your stumbling
blocks
• Overwhelm
• Distraction
• Too many goals

  • 1. Defining Your “Why” and Selecting Your 30 Day Goals
  • 2. We all want the same things: ★ To matter ★ To love and be loved ★ To be seen ★ To contribute ★ To connect ★ To belong ★ To achieve mastery ★ To be affirmed
  • 3. Alignment: Living in agreement with your values and purpose.
  • 4. Keys to Alignment • Knowing your “why” can help you identify your values and purpose. • We don’t just want goals for goals sake. • Pay attention to what resonates. • Start (we’ll refine along the way). • Show up/Get out of the stands and into the arena.
  • 5. Most Important Things (MITs) • We aren’t able to focus on too many things at once. • Choosing 3-4 MITs forcing ourselves to prioritize before we feel the “crunch.”
  • 6. Pick 3-4 MITs for the next 30 days.
  • 7. Master the 20 Minute Window 20 Minute Window • Pomodoro technique. • 20 minutes is effective. • More frequent is usually better than a longer duration. • KISS (keep it simple, silly)
  • 8. SMART Goals • Specific • Measurable • Attainable • Relevant • Time-Bound
  • 9. Specific • What (What do I want to accomplish?) • Why (Reason for accomplishing the goal)
  • 10. Measurable • How will you know it is accomplished?
  • 11. Attainable • Goal needs to be reasonable for the time period given.
  • 12. Relevant • Does the goal relate to your “Why” or your purpose in life?
  • 13. Time-Bound • Goal has a clear time period in which to be completed.
  • 14. Not SMART vs SMART? • Work on my novel vs. add 5000 new words to the novel. • Exercise regularly vs exercise for at least 30 minutes three times a week. • Expand my social circle vs. sign up for a new class. • Declutter the house vs. clean out hall closet in an hour and take the donations to Goodwill.
  • 15. Plan for your stumbling blocks • Overwhelm • Distraction • Too many goals
  • 16. Write one SMART 30-Day Goal for each of your MITs.
  • 17. Write 1-2 goals for each MIT for the upcoming week.

  1. Simon Sinek: “Start with Why” share the talk Shame/Vulnerability: techniques to avoid (Tara Brach) flee, numb or strive. Resonates- gut feeling. Start- you won’t know exactly how to do things- that’s okay. Version 1 example. Show up- there is no failure in this group except to disappear. Theodore Roosevelt quote- man in the arena.
  2. No more striving. I’ll be happy when... or once I .... then. We have arrived. There is no where to get to. This is it. This can be painful because you may not be where you meant to be... What story are you writing? Life Balance: things that matter aren’t always easy- but we need to have fun and enjoy the ride too. The four you pick may not be your only priority: ex spending time with family/friends- I do that without needing prompting. But exercise can sometimes get pushed until “later” and not happen without having it be a goal. No right or wrong- just what is important to you.
  3. Often use 20 minutes as a “processing” task.
  4. I want to work on my book. How often? How long? What result will I achieve?
  5. This goes with specific- again- how will you know you have accomplished the goal? time goal, frequency, word count...
  6. Dream big- but one step at a time.
  7. It’s okay if you don’t yet know your purpose.
