Essay On Respiratory Acidosis
Morgan Cook
T. Rhodes
Paramedic Outreach
February 5, 2017
Acidosis vs. Alkalosis There are many factors that keep the human body functioning on a normal
level. One of the factors is a person s pH level. In a regularly functioning body a human s blood pH
level should stay around 7.4, a level between 7.35 and 7.45 is considered normal. Anything above 7.45
or below 7.35 is considered dangerous. If the pH level is above 7.45 it is considered alkaline, while
anything below 7.35 is considered acidic. In most cases the body has compensatory mechanisms that
will help to maintain a correct pH. However, in some cases the body cannot compensate and a
healthcare provider may have to intervene with medical treatment. There are many different causes, ...

If the respiration rate is too slow, more CO2 is retained with each breath instead of it being removed
as it is during regular breathing. Other causes of respiratory acidosis can be chest injuries (that cause
the chest to not be able to rise enough for normal respirations), abuse or overuse of sedative or
depressive type drugs (which slows the breathing rate), and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
(which causes damage of lung tissue over time, making full breathes impossible). Some of the
symptoms that can occur in a person that is in respiratory acidosis can be that the person is confused,
has shortness of breath, has skin that is red or flushed, and fatigue . There are several treatments for
respiratory acidosis. Most include processes that are designed to aid a person s lungs or breathing. In
some instances, a patient might be given oxygen or be put on a continuous positive airway
pressure(CPAP) device . The CPAP device will push a continuous flow of air into the lungs which
helps to open the alveoli in the lungs which will improve oxygenation. CPAP also is very useful for a
constricted airway or a person with muscle weakness because it keeps the airway open which will
assist in the person being able to maintain a more normal respiratory

Article Critique Of The Social Work Arena
SOWK 503
Assignment #1: Article Critique
Antonio Gallegos
08/28/2014
Cynthia Rollo Carlson, MSW, MA, LICSW
What are the main points of the article? The main points to this article were how to incorporate
various concepts, and strengths perspective within all theories in the social work arena. One must
combine theory and perspective to explain a situation or concept. Having a definite concept to each
theory, and perspective will help one to understand all its entities to each situation. Theory and
perspective fall under a larger umbrella with many entities helping to find a solution to a specific
matter or a vast concern.
According to Dybicz (2011) While much literature has been written on the strengths perspective since
its inception, an ongoing project is further elaboration to clear up misconceptions and misapplications.
Much of the confusion arises from the strengths perspective s embrace of postmodern thought, and
hence, is reflective of the broader debate between modern and postmodern thought currently occurring
in social work (para. 1).
What does the article offer that is unique, interesting, and/or important? The article offers many
interesting, unique and important information with a great history lesson as well. The author talks
about the beginnings of social work and the way one viewed a social worker, as well as each social
worker, saw things through his or her own lens or in this case him or her perspective. Important
information was given in

Favelas are where approximately 11.4 of the 190 million of Brazils population resides. Favelas are
typically built when squatters (a person who unlawfully occupies an uninhabited building or unused
land) occupy vacant land at the edge of a city and construct shacks of salvaged or stolen materials.
These areas are known to be areas with crime and extreme poverty; the people who live there are
socially outcasted and are usually ignored by upper class citizens. These areas are home to the people
who cannot afford to live in cities like Rio de Jainero or São Paolo, because of the raising housing
costs. The heavily populated areas lack infrastructure, so citizens are forced to improvise plumbing
and electricity. It is easy to provide these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Increasing cost for everyday necessities will be next to receive a price hike, especially with travelers

unavoidable social and institutional growing pains are to follow because of the current devaluation of
Brazilian currency . This strain to the newly large middle class whom are still struggling, since a
multitude still live in conditions with no water, electricity, and heat. Globalization has [lifted] millions
of Brazilians to economic and social stability, still millions have been glossed over, and little growth
has trickled down to them (Bono). Government officials cannot deny there is a problem, and are well
aware their efforts are not going unnoticed, consequently more can be done. As mentioned before the
corruption is not new to this country, and many allegations have been made political, infrastructural,
and financial corruptions are surrounding the upcoming events. Brazil has a great opportunity to boost
the economic and social standing, and once the country was chosen for the cup, soon after they were
chosen to host the next Olympic Games. Bono states, that misplaced funds ($26 billion earmarked for
the World Cup and Olympic preparations in 2104 and 2016) are now resurfacing and manifesting in
mass protest. Citizens have begun to resent the government; since so much effort is being put into the

A few examples of mHealth apps that use technology in novel ways to enhance chronic pulmonary
disease self management are Wizdy (LifeGuard Games, Inc., Brighton, MA); The Wizdy Pets app is
designed to help children with asthma understand their disease by learning about asthma triggers and
the importance of taking medications. It accomplishes this via a game that children play involving
taking care of a fire breathing dragon pet that has asthma. Care TRx (Gecko Health Innovations, Inc.,

Patients are becoming armed with devices that can empower, monitor, track and even measure their
disease progression creating interventions when necessary to optimize the health and response time to
disease. New devices and tools technology into a smartphone for example, have the potential to
become an extension of a patient s health care provider and already change the way in which patients
interact with the medical system. These various devices can allow public health officials to better
monitor and screen for diseases in large populations and ultimately help improve preventive strategies
and access to care for millions of Americans. This is all a critical part of improving outcomes for
patients going forward.
As pharmacists we are aware that the management of COPD is multi pronged approach. Treatment
focuses on monitoring changes and relieving symptoms, improving function/exercise tolerance and
ongoing vigilance. There exists however, variables needed to assess and monitor the disease, reduce
risk factors, such as smoking and air pollution, stabilize care to prevent disease progression and
manage exacerbations and comorbid conditions. This could not be accomplished without the infusion
of the healthcare technologies. (17).
Asthma is one of the most prevalent non communicable chronic respiratory conditions occurring
throughout the lifespan.

Example Of An Escalator Research Paper
The actions of characters in the escalator fail video are an excellent example of a human vice. The
characters have become accustomed to escalators and take advantage of using them. When the
escalator stops moving the thought of walking up the remainder of the escalator never crosses their
minds because that would go against their usual habit. While not all would agree that using an
escalator is a vice I will argue that while convenient, escalators encourage laziness and frequent use
can lead to other bad habits. Many places that feature escalators also feature stairs. While stairs may
require more effort, they save time and get you moving. It may not seem like it is worth it but if you
choose to use the stairs every time, rather than escalators

Stained Patio Upgrade Research Paper
How To Improve The Appearance Of Your Cracked And Stained Patio If your concrete patio has
turned into an eyesore, you may be able to transform it by filling in cracks and applying a new surface
to make it look like new. If the damage is mostly cosmetic, you might be able to restore the patio
yourself. Here are some tips that might help. Wash The Patio And Examine The Damage Before you
attempt any repairs, wash the patio to get dirt and dust out of the cracks. You may need to pick
crumbled concrete or weeds out of the cracks too. The cracks need to be as clean as possible so the
filler will adhere. Also, use a pressure washer if you have one to see if you can remove the stains.
Even if you get rid of stains and dirt with the pressure washer, you may still need to resurface your
patio. Once you repair the cracks, the filler will show because it is a lighter color. The more repairs
you make, the worse the finished job will look unless you add a top coat on the surface that evens out
the color. Fill In The Cracks Don t resurface the concrete without filling all the cracks first, or they
will show through. If the cracks are small, you can fill them with a product you apply with a caulk
gun. If the cracks are bigger, you can push the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

to wear protective gear because you ll create a huge dusty mess. Wear goggles, a mask, and ear

Payroll Fraud And Accounting Information Systems
Payroll Fraud and Accounting Information Systems
Stephanie Ace and Nisha Selvam
Payroll systems have evolved tremendously as software and computerized systems have spread
throughout the workplace. While this has alleviated some of the hassle involved with processing
payroll, it has also opened up a world of potential issues. Oftentimes, systems that appear both
effective and efficient can become vulnerable if placed in the hands of dishonest employees or
employers. Ultimately, while accounting information systems have resulted in exponential growth to
the payroll system, it is also important to consider the possible weaknesses that lie beneath the surface.
Defining Payroll Fraud
According to a 2012 article from Pay and Benefits Magazine, payroll fraud is defined as the
unauthorized altering of payroll or benefits systems in order for an employee to gain funds which are
not due, ( Payroll Fraud ). This illegal practice takes up a relatively large percentage of an organization
s expenditures. According to a 2014 study by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, it is
estimated that the typical organization loses 5% of revenues each year to fraud. The average loss due
to fraud was $145,000 and the average timeframe that fraud escaped detection for nearly 18 months.
In addition, of the cases reviewed, 22% involved amounts above $1 million ( About the Report ).
Based on these figures, the importance of preventing and detecting

How Is Wisdom Presented In When Siddhartha
Wisdom is not a product of schooling, but of the lifelong attempt to acquire it. These immortal words
were spoken by one of the greatest thinking minds in recent history none other than Albert Einstein.
Many thinkers throughout history have picked up on this discrepancy between knowledge and
wisdom, despite the two words often being used interchangeably in everyday life. The divide between
knowledge and wisdom is excellently portrayed in the novel Siddhartha written by Hermann Hesse, in
which the main character Siddhartha s journey to find inner peace leads him through the theme of
wisdom and knowledge being obtained differently. In Siddhartha, many themes are presented, but the

As he left Gotama, he became filled with determination to stop shying away from the world, and to
embrace it and learn from it instead. Siddhartha felt a type of rebirth at this revelation, seeing the
beauty of the world and all that he has missed out on by focusing on the invisible world. He says I
want to begin my thoughts and my life with Atman and with the suffering of the world. With that,
Siddhartha sets off with a new mission: to live. Along this newfound path toward wisdom, Siddhartha
becomes acquainted with a beautiful female courtesan named Kamala. She teaches Siddhartha to revel
in the pleasures and riches of the world and he is happy, seeing the appeal of a worldly life for the first
time. Many years pass and Siddhartha becomes increasingly unhappy with his life of riches, feeling as
though he has no goals anymore. The novel goes so far as to say that slowly the disease of the soul,
which rich people have, grabbed hold of him. Siddhartha may have obtained wisdom from the
experience, but he became to immersed and lost sight of the reasons he sought a lavish life in the first
place. Through this extended path of worldliness, Siddhartha began to focus too heavily on gaining the
wisdom that comes with the suffering of the world. He forgot all about the knowledge he had
previously obtained, knowledge that may have guided

sample, what measurements are needed? Mass and volume 3. The volume of a fixed mass of a liquid
sample increases as the temperature rises from 20 to 408C. Does the density increase, decrease, or stay
the same? Explain your answer. The density decreases. Density of the liquid sample is the mass divide
by the volume. If the mass stays constant and the volume increases then the density of the liquid
sample will decrease. 4. A solid block of exactly 100.0 cm3 has a mass of 153.6 g. Determine its
density. Will the block sink or float on water? Density (d)=m/v = 153.6g / 100cm3 = 1.536 g/cm3
Since this solid block is more dense than water (1.536 g/cm3 gt; 1 g/cm3) it will sink. 5. A salvage

separate laws of demand and law of supply. A demand curve is a graphical depiction of the law of
demand. It has negative slope. Substitutes are goods that can be consumed in place of each other.
Complementary are goods that consumes together. Demand and supply affected by price of the
commodity, income of the consumer, change in technology, price of goods itself etc. there is a inverse
relationship between price and quantity in demand and direct relationship between price and quantity

Corruption Of Inequity And The Injustice In The World Today
Jaylen Lewis

Poem #1
When talking about the inequity and the injustice in the world today; it is important that many have
topics such as police brutality, injustice, and racism are bought up throughout the discussion. Over the
years African Americans have been victims of discrimination, Jim Crow, segregation, and many more
unconstitutional acts of racism and still have overcame it all. Also, there are still crooked people in the
criminal justice system such as police officers, judges, jurors, and many others; understanding that
being African American has a rough price to pay in the United States of America without the
corruption of the criminal justice system and African Americans as a whole need to realize. Lauryn
Hill states you can t handle the truth in a courtroom of lies. Also, In the poem Mystery of Inequity by
Lauryn Hill she examines corruption to talk about crooked lawyers, false indictments, and slavery. In
the poem Mystery of Inequity Lauryn Hill explores corruption to talk about crooked lawyers. Public
defenders are prime examples of crooked lawyers because they are appointed by the judge to represent
alleged offenders if they cannot afford a real attorney. Most of the time if an alleged criminal is
represented by a public defender nine times out of ten he or she is going to be found guilty according
to either the jury or the judge. They are hired by the government but are supposed to work for the
people; which in many cases does not work in the defendant s favor and causes the person to serve
prison time for the crime they did or did not commit at that time. Also, public defenders work with the
prosecutors more than they work with the alleged criminal themselves. This is why public are known
as crooked lawyers and are not supposed to be in used while an alleged criminal is preparing or on
trial because they will most likely ask that person if they want to take a plea deal or also known as a
plea bargain; which is the agreement in any criminal case between the prosecutor and defendant
whereby the defendant agrees to plead guilty to a particular charge in return for some concession from
the prosecutor. This

Components Of A Sociological Perspective
In a sociological perspective, there are main components the average human being uses as a guide to
maneuver their lives and their decision making. For some, culture is the main factor due to religion
and other cultural beliefs and upbringings. With these beliefs, we tend to not explore and experience
things in our life because we want to remain close to our culture and live the safe and secure life to
reach Heaven or the higher place afterlife. This is a form of social institution . A social institution is
defined as a collection of individuals banded together in pursuit of a common purpose. A social
institution s common purposes include granting its members certain rights and privileges. We all are
involve in a social institution that helped shaped who we are and where we are planning on going.
Family is one debt you will never escape while breathing air on this planet! Everyone has them
whether you are communicating with them or not. Family plays the biggest factor in your daily life
from the moment you take your first breath. As you grow older, you begin to realize that you are going
to have to make your own decision on building your own family by getting married. The issue with
that, Marriage isn t put on a pedestal and a matter of fact, it s kind of frown upon until you reach 30
years of age. Marriage was more of a personal, emotional, and more of a sacrifice to spend the rest of
your life with this other individual no matter the circumstances. Now, it s a

The tags with Parker s ratings also influence the placement of the wines in a retail stores. Parker s
influence to the wine industry did create many benefits to the consumers but a long with it some
controversies. (Appendix 1)
3) Is Chateau Margaux a luxury brand or a connoisseur s brand? Definitely, a connoisseur s brand
because their high quality wine is treasured by those who really understand wine. These are repeating
customers with high brand loyalty. On the other hand, luxury customers are more likely to switch from
product to product. Luxury customers also buy luxury wine on only special occasion; therefore they
are not repeating customers.
4) Should Chateau Margaux extend the product line?
From our group opinion we think that Chateau Margaux should not extend its product line. Chateau
Margaux is connoisseur brand which has limited brand awareness and limited target group, which is
the strong part that keeps Chateau Margaux stands on top rank wine in consumer mind. Extend the
product line of Chateau Margaux could cause wrong perception among consumers. Moreover the
product quality control for Chateau Margaux is highly strict and limited, so to add more product line
on its regular basis production can cause the average quality of entire product drop down as well.

Slave Revolt Of Spartacus
Classical Studies 91202
The Slave Revolt of Spartacus
One significant event within classical history that occurred within and had an impact on how Roman
society functioned was the slave revolt of Spartacus. This war was the third in a cycle of three named
the servile wars. These wars began away from Rome, in Sicily, but later directly threatened the senate
when Spartacus began the third servile war that lasted from 73 71BC and involved many slaves who
escaped their punishment to fight, although none were recorded to have survived after the final battle
where Spartacus died in battle.
Spartacus, translating to from the city of Sparta in Latin, was a Roman gladiator who began as a
Thracian, born among pastoral nomadic people according to Plutarch. This northern area of Greece
that holds the title of Spartacus birth place was believed to be one of Rome s earliest enemies.
Historians suspect his birthdate to be around that of 109BC and know his date of death to be 71BC.
This gives him a lifespan of around 37 years. Minimal information is documented prior to his rise to
fame. One of the first pieces discovered about Spartacus timeline was in 78BC when he was
incarcerated and forced to train as a gladiator. This enslavement was most likely due to either
deserting his cause or committing a crime and sold as a slave as a form of punishment, although often
the accusations that put people into slavery were unfair and biased due to aspects such as race and
gender. Because of

Classical Conditioning Phobias
Many people have severe phobias and report feelings of anxiety and panic when confronted with these
fears. Learning principles may help explain why this anxiety may provide possible solutions. Some
with phobias, report a shortness of breath and a racing heartbeat when confronted with their fear. One
reaction may be a girl who was bitten by a men stray dog. This girl, let s call her Sally, now cries or
cowers behind something whenever a dog is near. Using classical conditioning we can see how this
happened, why she feels this way, and possible look at a way to end this fear once and for all. Now let
s roll through the classical conditioning model. Starting with the UCS (Unconditioned Stimulus) this
is when Sally gets bitten by the dog. The UCS ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sally is hysterical, the pain makes her scream as she tries to run away from the dog and hide. This is a
normal response for a child to have. This helps her remember that dogs are bad, in her mind she feels
this, she has been through and experience in which it has stamped itself into her brain. Now the CS
(Conditioned Stimulus) is the dog itself, or dogs in general. The sight of a dog or even a bark or growl
can set little Sally off in a crying or cowering manner. The dog, or dogs, become the conditioned
stimulus because it is the memory of the previous interaction. After it is all said and done, the sight of
the dog or dogs will set her off yes. She will feel panicked and have shortness of breath., When you
are in counter with your fears you tend to become tensed. You will have anxiety, which creates an
uptick in your heart rate, including a slight shortness in breath. Same thing when people have panic
attacks. When you re in counter with your fear you have nowhere else to run, sometimes, and so this
makes you feel shut inside a small cube, one that you cannot get out. So Sally panics and she tried to
run, she will cry at the sight of a dog or a slight sound of a bark. This is known as the CR
(Conditioned response) the CR is the same as the UCR. Sally will feel like this everytime she sees or

knows the why for his existence, and will be able to bear almost any how .

Introduction
The term logotherapy is derived from a Greek word that translates as meaning and therapy, which is
defined as treatment of a condition, illness, or maladjustment (GoodTherapy, 2015). Logotherapy is
sometimes referred to at the Third Vienessen School of Psychotherapy , with Sigmund Freud s
psychoanalysis being the first, and Alfred Adler s individual psychology being the second. In contrast
to Freud and Aldler thought, Viktor Frankl, with the emergence of logotherapy, maintained that a
human s principal motivation is not to search for power or gratification, as but to discover the ... Show

Logotherapy is suitable for both religious and non religious individuals because of the spiritual (not
religious) dimension in the concept (Asagba, 2013).
Because the existential approach is based on universal human themes, because it does not dictate a
particular way of viewing reality, and because of its broad perspective, it is highly applicable in
working in a multicultural context. Existential therapy is useful in working with culturally diverse
clients because of its focus on universality, or the common ground that we all share. (Corey, 2012)
For an approach to be labeled as existential, it is essential that the cultural, social, political, and
ideological context be taken into account. Themes such as relationships, finding meaning, anxiety,
suffering, and death are concerns that transcend the boundaries that separate cultures. Clients in
existential therapy are encouraged to examine ways their present existence is being influenced by
social and cultural factors (Corey,

Louis Zamperini s Character Analysis
The powerful biography Unbroken highlights the astonishing and fascinating life of Louis Zamperini.
Laura Hillenbrand impeccably captures the most miniscule details of Zamperini s life from the
moment he was born to his elderly days. Throughout Louis life, he faced failure and triumphed
success, with the help of his beloved family never undermined. Provided, the Zamperini family played
an instrumental role filled with unwavering support and dedication to their dear Louis throughout his
great feats and strenuous journeys. Pete Zamperini was the older brother of Louis, and while being
brothers, they were still the complete opposites of one another. A handsome young man, Pete was also
respectful to his elders and had a sense of sound judgment; all of which Louis lacked. ... Show more

Despite their differences, Pete found the need to defend his brother as he marched into the principal s
office as he so desperately wanted to see him onto the right path and not the downward spiral he had
been heading down. Pete played an intricate role in getting Louis to a better place as he told the
principal that Louie craved attention, but had never won it in the form of praise, so he sought it in the
form of punishment. If Louie were recognized for doing something right, Pete argued, he d turn his
life around (13). Growing up, no one was completely sure on whether or not Louis would amount to
anything, but with the help of Pete he became one of the greatest runners in the world. Training
constantly, Louis was pushed past his limits by Pete to achieve monumental heights in his running
career. Pete herded him out to train every day and rode his bicycle behind him, whacking him with a
stick. Louie dragged his feet, belly ached, and quit at the first sign of fatigue. Pete made him get up
and keep going (14). As a result, Louis began winning and became the fastest high school

What Is Mexiconia s Identity
Franconians and their own interpretation of their Bavarian identity
First of all the German or Bavarian Franconians (German = Franken) are not a Swiss currency or so
help me god are not related to the modern French people. To be honest, there is probably a historical
background with the medieval Frankish tribe and the common French/German history by Charles the
Great and his Charlemagne. However, nowadays the region of Franconia is a geographical and
cultural province in the north of modern Bavaria with its own identity. It consists of roughly one third
of the Bavarian area and population. Franconia itself is divided into three regions: Upper Franconia
with its capital city Bayreuth, Lower Franconia with its capital city Würzburg and last but not least
Central Franconia with Ansbach as its capital city. The biggest city and the industrial and financial
center of Franconia is of course Nuremberg with its long and rich history going back into the Middle
Ages. Roughly ten years ago, when Bavaria ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is why the people of Franconia are so proud of their own identity and see themselves first as
Franconians and after that as Bavarians or Germans. But the main and probably true reason is that the
Franconians are also seen as Franconians by the Bavarians. Franconia is for them just another cultural
annoying geographical part of Bavaria without any industrial powerhouses like Siemens, BMW or
Audi. Some arrogant Bavarians assert that everything beyond the Danube (also called the
Weißwurstäquator ) is Prussian, also called Saupreiß . Because of that, the Franconians likely do have
a slight inferiority complex towards the Bavarians, but are in the end quietly and secretly proud to be a
part of Bavaria and its world famous traditional culture. I mean who on earth, outside of Bavaria,
knows the differences between these two regions or anyway, what Franconia actually

An Examination of the Stroop Effect among College Students The Stroop experiment by J. Ridley
Stroop in 1935 was performed in order to analyze the reaction time of participant s stimuli and desired
results while also obtaining a collective result of color interference and word reading(Stroop, 1935;
Lee Chan, 2000). In the experiment three forms of the test were given, the first consisting of color
patches, the second had the color words printed in black and the other was an incongruent test

However in regards to general results between both genders it was shown that no definite statistical
mean yielded notable results (Alansari Baroun, 2004). Stroop (1935) also showed that women college
students also showed a difference when compared to the men and tended to have higher word reading
results, but in regards to the genders showed no significant differentiation between both at the
cognitive level. Alansari and Baroun (2004) had participants state whether they were color blind,
dyslexic, or if they had previously ever taken the Stroop test before, it was important that these
interferences were factored out in order to obtain a conclusive observation in regards to all the
participants involved in the experiment. MacLeod (1991) had suggested that those with disabilities
tended to show high Stroop interference, also along with those with an attention deficit disorder since
maintaining concentration throughout the experiment and test is an important factor in obtaining more
accurate results without a significant outlier. Also different levels of interference where shown in
children and adults, it was also observed that interference began at an early age, declined in the adult
years since most have a peak of cognitive development and understanding in adult years, but once
again increased interference around the age of 60 (MacLeod,

Factors Helping Children Learn Their Native Tongue Essay
Factors Helping Children Learn Their Native Tongue There are many factors as to how a child may be
able to learn their native tongue at a very young age. Each of these factors has advantages and
disadvantages in a child s learning to speak their native tongue and some are more effective than
others. This essay will discuss each of these factors and how important they are. Some of the factors
that will be included in this essay are the children imitating their parents, being taught by their parents,
interaction with adults and the child s ability to work out the rules of grammar. It has been said that in
their development of language, children begin to make sounds or say words by imitating what ... Show

Although it is argued that a child is not exposed to enough language to merely imitate. Also it is
evident that children tend to over extend words and call more than one object the name of another
object, or over generalize words for example adding ed onto the end of words such as falled . It has
also been suggested that by careful teaching from the parent can be crucial within a child s
development. For example repetition from the parent towards the child, such as saying Daddy can
make a child s understanding of language develop quicker. But also this can by changing the language
that they use when around the child. This sort of babyish talk is often called caretaker speech or
parentese , but this use of babyish language would make it harder for the child to create sentences. The
subjects and topics should be of which the child can understand, but if spoken in an adult manner the
child would be able to make connections on how sentences are put together. Although it has been said
that there is always a gap between understanding and meaning, where the child may imitate what they
hear but not actually understand what they are saying. Also the rules of grammar have been shown to
be too complex for a child learning to speak, as they would not have yet

be the best NFL quarterback within his first three years? Without a doubt Russell Wilson has proved
he is better then most hall of fame quarterbacks. By using his statistics, his win loss record, and his
super bowl appearances it will show why Russell Wilson is the best quarterback ever. Being a
quarterback in your first three years is hard to be compared to some of the hall of famers. Although,
hall of famers like Joe Montana, Terry Bradshaw, and Johnny Unitas had great careers, Russell Wilson

Joe Montana had a record of twenty one wins, and twenty seven losses. Terry Bradshaw had a record
of twenty two wins twenty six losses. Johnny Unitas had a record of twenty one wins, and fifteen
losses. Johnny Unitas played when a regular season consisted of twelve games. Do not let that fool
you because if you were to take the percentage of all those records you will clearly see Russell Wilson
has the best record. Russell Wilson won a total of thirty six out of forty eight games. His percentage
was he won seventy five percent of his games. Joe Montana won forty three percent of his games.
Terry Bradshaw won a total of forty five percent of his games. With Johnny Unitas only playing thirty
six games and only winning twenty one of those games. He only won fifty eight percent of his games.
The final way to prove he is the greatest quarterback to me is his appearances to the super bowl.
Russell Wilson has played a total of three full seasons. In those seasons Russell Wilson has made a
total of two back to back appearances to the super bowl. Joe Montana has appeared in only one super
bowl in his first three years. Terry Bradshaw unfortunately did not appear in any super bowls for his
first three years. Johnny Unitas like Joe Montana only appeared in one super bowl in three years.

Colonialism Of Film And Literature Essay
Chenelle Seck Sociology of Colonialism Professor Ravi Palat 17 November 2016 Colonialism in Film
and Literature Colonialism is one country s control over another. It involves leaders who are in power
and the masses who are powerless and oppressed. Many countries around the world have been
colonized, exploited, and oppressed by European countries for various reasons, including the
European powers need to civilize and assimilate societies that were different from their own. The topic
of colonization is presented in scholarly work, books, art, and movies. Two movies that demonstrate
European colonization are Tjoet Nja Dhien, an Indonesian film and Camp de Thiaroye, a Senegalese
war film. Both these films depict the struggle between the colonizers and the oppressed. Themes
portrayed in the movies are women s roles, the Islamic faith, and modernity in Tjoet Nja Dhien and
racial identity, inequality, and cultural oppression in Camp de Thiaroye. Two works of literature that
support the themes in these movies are Child of All Nations and God s Bits of Wood. Tjoet Nja Dhien
is a 1988 Indonesian film about a woman who led the Acehnese army against the Dutch after the death
of her husband. The movie began with the attempt of the Dutch to colonize Indonesia and the start of
the war between them. After the death of the war leader, Umer, leadership was taken over by his wife,
Tjoet Nja Dhien. In the movie, she was wise and persistent in her fight against Dutch colonization

Difference Between Instinct And Intuition
Responding to the smile of a baby, jumping up when startled by a sudden sound, or even pulling your
hand away from a hot fire are all examples of instinctive behaviour; instinct does not involve thought
but is an automatic, evolutionary response to external stimuli. Instinctive judgements are more
intuitive in nature but though related, in terms of both not involving conscious thought, instinct and
intuition are not the same. Intuition is based on subconscious thought; a pattern recognized by the
brain based on, for instance, past experiences, whereas instinctive judgements appear to be
independent of experience or rational thought. As a student of psychology, I like to make the
distinction that instinct is a behavioural process while intuition is a cognitive, but subconscious,
process. The term judgement used in the above TOKstatement implies taking an objective or
considered decision based on instinct alone rather than on conscious, rational thought. I believe the
absence of conscious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, the cognitive scientist and psychologist, Steven Pinker , argues that all thought is
composed prior to its linguistic form. In his book, The Language Instinct, he talks about how children
learn language instinctively, without the need for complex thought and analysis, and feels that ways of
knowing, such as the use of reason to understand grammar rules, actually slows down the process of
language learning. On the other hand, linguistic determinism states that knowledge is shaped by
language and is a cultural construct; people of different languages have different thought processes.
Demonstrating this latter view, a situation, albeit fictional, where language limits instinctive
judgements, can be seen in the success of Newspeak , the state imposed language in George Orwell s
1984 , that prevented people from even thinking critically of the

Understanding GDPR Regulations What it Means for Cyber Security
On May 25, 2018 the European Union will begin enforcing the new General Data Protection
Regulations (GDPR) that will create one data protection standard throughout the EU. These
regulations were designed to create a unified standard for personal data privacy and to simplify the
enforcement of data privacy laws throughout all EU countries. What some organizations are surprised
to learn, is that these regulations go beyond the physical confines of the EU and apply to any
organization that collects or holds information on EU citizens. This means that companies throughout
the world need to understand and ensure compliance with GDRP guidelines if they ... Show more

Organizations in control of the data must provide a free electronic copy of the data.
Right to be forgotten: Covered data subjects have the right to have the organization in control of
his/her personal data erase and stop using that data if they withdraw consent. When this happens, the
organization s data controller must weigh the subjects rights vs. the public interest in the availability
of the data.
As you can see, GDPR creates a lot of new regulations surrounding data use. This is a short list of
examples, but GDPR also includes rules for data portability, legitimate use of data for direct
marketing, data profiling and more.
How does this impact an organization s cyber security approach?
While every company should always be considering the safety and security of information, GDPR is
looking to ensure that organizations are taking data security seriously and incorporating it into the
initial design of any new systems, as well as securing all existing systems. Many large companies
collecting data on EU citizens will be required to employ a Data Protection Officer to ensure
compliance and proper reporting.
Similar to US HIPAA requirements, GDPR calls for organizations to limit personal data access to only
those users that requires the specific data to perform his/her job. Organizations must also prove that
appropriate network safeguards are in place to protect the privacy of the data. With the

How Does Equity Fulfil the Common Law
How Does Equity Fulfill the Common Law Common Law Equity fulfils the common law, although it
does not endeavour to displace it with a moral code. In order to be influential, the law is to be
professed as both certain and predictable, and also flexible and fair. Specifically, it needs clear rules on
the one hand, but flexibility on the other to produce exceptions to cases that lead to apparently
incongruous or unjust conclusions if the rules are applied rigidly. Equity is an essence of principles,
doctrines, and rules advanced initially by the Court of Chancery in positive competition with the rules,
doctrines and principles of the Common Law Courts. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Remedies represent some interesting illustrations of the difference between law and equity; a
difference which arose as; an accident of history, according to Lord Nicholls in A G v Blake.
Ordinarily legal rights and remedies remain separate from equitable ones. Some similarities do,
nevertheless, occur. For illustration, an injunction, an equitable remedy, can be sought for an
anticipatory breach of contract, or to stop a nuisance, both common law claims. In A G v Blake, the
House of Lords authorized the equitable remedy of account of profits for an assertion for violation of
contract where the common law remedy of damages would have been insufficient. The equitable
remedy of account of profits is usually accessible where there is a fiduciary relationship but the House
of Lords endorsed its request otherwise in exceptional cases where it was the operative way to remedy
a wrong. By distinction, in Seager v Copydex, proceedings were brought for breach of confidence in
regard for confidential information exposed by the defendants about a carpet grip. Such a claim is
equitable and normally the equitable remedies of injunction and account are obtainable. On the other
hand, an injunction would have been unsuccessful and he judges awarded damages. It would appear,
consequently that a common law remedy is

  • 2. Essay On Respiratory Acidosis Morgan Cook T. Rhodes Paramedic Outreach February 5, 2017 Acidosis vs. Alkalosis There are many factors that keep the human body functioning on a normal level. One of the factors is a person s pH level. In a regularly functioning body a human s blood pH level should stay around 7.4, a level between 7.35 and 7.45 is considered normal. Anything above 7.45 or below 7.35 is considered dangerous. If the pH level is above 7.45 it is considered alkaline, while anything below 7.35 is considered acidic. In most cases the body has compensatory mechanisms that will help to maintain a correct pH. However, in some cases the body cannot compensate and a healthcare provider may have to intervene with medical treatment. There are many different causes, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the respiration rate is too slow, more CO2 is retained with each breath instead of it being removed as it is during regular breathing. Other causes of respiratory acidosis can be chest injuries (that cause the chest to not be able to rise enough for normal respirations), abuse or overuse of sedative or depressive type drugs (which slows the breathing rate), and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (which causes damage of lung tissue over time, making full breathes impossible). Some of the symptoms that can occur in a person that is in respiratory acidosis can be that the person is confused, has shortness of breath, has skin that is red or flushed, and fatigue . There are several treatments for respiratory acidosis. Most include processes that are designed to aid a person s lungs or breathing. In some instances, a patient might be given oxygen or be put on a continuous positive airway pressure(CPAP) device . The CPAP device will push a continuous flow of air into the lungs which helps to open the alveoli in the lungs which will improve oxygenation. CPAP also is very useful for a constricted airway or a person with muscle weakness because it keeps the airway open which will assist in the person being able to maintain a more normal respiratory ... • 3. Article Critique Of The Social Work Arena SOWK 503 Assignment #1: Article Critique Antonio Gallegos 08/28/2014 Cynthia Rollo Carlson, MSW, MA, LICSW What are the main points of the article? The main points to this article were how to incorporate various concepts, and strengths perspective within all theories in the social work arena. One must combine theory and perspective to explain a situation or concept. Having a definite concept to each theory, and perspective will help one to understand all its entities to each situation. Theory and perspective fall under a larger umbrella with many entities helping to find a solution to a specific matter or a vast concern. According to Dybicz (2011) While much literature has been written on the strengths perspective since its inception, an ongoing project is further elaboration to clear up misconceptions and misapplications. Much of the confusion arises from the strengths perspective s embrace of postmodern thought, and hence, is reflective of the broader debate between modern and postmodern thought currently occurring in social work (para. 1). What does the article offer that is unique, interesting, and/or important? The article offers many interesting, unique and important information with a great history lesson as well. The author talks about the beginnings of social work and the way one viewed a social worker, as well as each social worker, saw things through his or her own lens or in this case him or her perspective. Favelas are typically built when squatters (a person who unlawfully occupies an uninhabited building or unused land) occupy vacant land at the edge of a city and construct shacks of salvaged or stolen materials. These areas are known to be areas with crime and extreme poverty; the people who live there are socially outcasted and are usually ignored by upper class citizens. These areas are home to the people who cannot afford to live in cities like Rio de Jainero or São Paolo, because of the raising housing costs. The heavily populated areas lack infrastructure, so citizens are forced to improvise plumbing and electricity. It is easy to provide these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Increasing cost for everyday necessities will be next to receive a price hike, especially with travelers arriving in the country. Reporter Pierre Bono believes, After impressive gains it is feared that unavoidable social and institutional growing pains are to follow because of the current devaluation of Brazilian currency . This strain to the newly large middle class whom are still struggling, since a multitude still live in conditions with no water, electricity, and heat. Globalization has [lifted] millions of Brazilians to economic and social stability, still millions have been glossed over, and little growth has trickled down to them (Bono). Government officials cannot deny there is a problem, and are well aware their efforts are not going unnoticed, consequently more can be done. As mentioned before the corruption is not new to this country, and many allegations have been made political, infrastructural, and financial corruptions are surrounding the upcoming events. Brazil has a great opportunity to boost the economic and social standing, and once the country was chosen for the cup, soon after they were chosen to host the next Olympic Games. Examples Of Asthma A few examples of mHealth apps that use technology in novel ways to enhance chronic pulmonary disease self management are Wizdy (LifeGuard Games, Inc., Brighton, MA); The Wizdy Pets app is designed to help children with asthma understand their disease by learning about asthma triggers and the importance of taking medications. It accomplishes this via a game that children play involving taking care of a fire breathing dragon pet that has asthma. • 6. Example Of An Escalator Research Paper The actions of characters in the escalator fail video are an excellent example of a human vice. The characters have become accustomed to escalators and take advantage of using them. When the escalator stops moving the thought of walking up the remainder of the escalator never crosses their minds because that would go against their usual habit. While not all would agree that using an escalator is a vice I will argue that while convenient, escalators encourage laziness and frequent use can lead to other bad habits. Many places that feature escalators also feature stairs. While stairs may require more effort, they save time and get you moving. It may not seem like it is worth it but if you choose to use the stairs every time, rather than escalators ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Stained Patio Upgrade Research Paper How To Improve The Appearance Of Your Cracked And Stained Patio If your concrete patio has turned into an eyesore, you may be able to transform it by filling in cracks and applying a new surface to make it look like new. If the damage is mostly cosmetic, you might be able to restore the patio yourself. Here are some tips that might help. Wash The Patio And Examine The Damage Before you attempt any repairs, wash the patio to get dirt and dust out of the cracks. You may need to pick crumbled concrete or weeds out of the cracks too. The cracks need to be as clean as possible so the filler will adhere. Also, use a pressure washer if you have one to see if you can remove the stains. Even if you get rid of stains and dirt with the pressure washer, you may still need to resurface your patio. Once you repair the cracks, the filler will show because it is a lighter color. The more repairs you make, the worse the finished job will look unless you add a top coat on the surface that evens out the color. Fill In The Cracks Don t resurface the concrete without filling all the cracks first, or they will show through. If the cracks are small, you can fill them with a product you apply with a caulk gun. Payroll Fraud And Accounting Information Systems Payroll Fraud and Accounting Information Systems Stephanie Ace and Nisha Selvam Payroll systems have evolved tremendously as software and computerized systems have spread throughout the workplace. While this has alleviated some of the hassle involved with processing payroll, it has also opened up a world of potential issues. Oftentimes, systems that appear both effective and efficient can become vulnerable if placed in the hands of dishonest employees or employers. Ultimately, while accounting information systems have resulted in exponential growth to the payroll system, it is also important to consider the possible weaknesses that lie beneath the surface. Defining Payroll Fraud According to a 2012 article from Pay and Benefits Magazine, payroll fraud is defined as the unauthorized altering of payroll or benefits systems in order for an employee to gain funds which are not due, ( Payroll Fraud ). This illegal practice takes up a relatively large percentage of an organization s expenditures. According to a 2014 study by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, it is estimated that the typical organization loses 5% of revenues each year to fraud. Also, In the poem Mystery of Inequity by Lauryn Hill she examines corruption to talk about crooked lawyers, false indictments, and slavery. In the poem Mystery of Inequity Lauryn Hill explores corruption to talk about crooked lawyers. Public defenders are prime examples of crooked lawyers because they are appointed by the judge to represent alleged offenders if they cannot afford a real attorney. Most of the time if an alleged criminal is represented by a public defender nine times out of ten he or she is going to be found guilty according to either the jury or the judge. They are hired by the government but are supposed to work for the people; which in many cases does not work in the defendant s favor and causes the person to serve prison time for the crime they did or did not commit at that time. Also, public defenders work with the prosecutors more than they work with the alleged criminal themselves. This is why public are known as crooked lawyers and are not supposed to be in used while an alleged criminal is preparing or on trial because they will most likely ask that person if they want to take a plea deal or also known as a plea bargain; which is the agreement in any criminal case between the prosecutor and defendant whereby the defendant agrees to plead guilty to a particular charge in return for some concession from the prosecutor. Colonialism Of Film And Literature Essay Chenelle Seck Sociology of Colonialism Professor Ravi Palat 17 November 2016 Colonialism in Film and Literature Colonialism is one country s control over another. It involves leaders who are in power and the masses who are powerless and oppressed. Many countries around the world have been colonized, exploited, and oppressed by European countries for various reasons, including the European powers need to civilize and assimilate societies that were different from their own. The topic of colonization is presented in scholarly work, books, art, and movies. Two movies that demonstrate European colonization are Tjoet Nja Dhien, an Indonesian film and Camp de Thiaroye, a Senegalese war film. Both these films depict the struggle between the colonizers and the oppressed. Themes portrayed in the movies are women s roles, the Islamic faith, and modernity in Tjoet Nja Dhien and racial identity, inequality, and cultural oppression in Camp de Thiaroye. Two works of literature that support the themes in these movies are Child of All Nations and God s Bits of Wood. Tjoet Nja Dhien is a 1988 Indonesian film about a woman who led the Acehnese army against the Dutch after the death of her husband. The movie began with the attempt of the Dutch to colonize Indonesia and the start of the war between them. After the death of the war leader, Umer, leadership was taken over by his wife, Tjoet Nja Dhien. In the movie, she was wise and persistent in her fight against Dutch colonization ... • 30. Difference Between Instinct And Intuition Responding to the smile of a baby, jumping up when startled by a sudden sound, or even pulling your hand away from a hot fire are all examples of instinctive behaviour; instinct does not involve thought but is an automatic, evolutionary response to external stimuli. Instinctive judgements are more intuitive in nature but though related, in terms of both not involving conscious thought, instinct and intuition are not the same. Intuition is based on subconscious thought; a pattern recognized by the brain based on, for instance, past experiences, whereas instinctive judgements appear to be independent of experience or rational thought. As a student of psychology, I like to make the distinction that instinct is a behavioural process while intuition is a cognitive, but subconscious, process. The term judgement used in the above TOKstatement implies taking an objective or considered decision based on instinct alone rather than on conscious, rational thought. I believe the absence of conscious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, the cognitive scientist and psychologist, Steven Pinker , argues that all thought is composed prior to its linguistic form. In his book, The Language Instinct, he talks about how children learn language instinctively, without the need for complex thought and analysis, and feels that ways of knowing, such as the use of reason to understand grammar rules, actually slows down the process of language learning. On the other hand, linguistic determinism states that knowledge is shaped by language and is a cultural construct; people of different languages have different thought processes. Demonstrating this latter view, a situation, albeit fictional, where language limits instinctive judgements, can be seen in the success of Newspeak , the state imposed language in George Orwell s 1984 , that prevented people from even thinking critically of the ... • 31. Cyber Security Case Study SEO: GDPR, cyber security Understanding GDPR Regulations What it Means for Cyber Security On May 25, 2018 the European Union will begin enforcing the new General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) that will create one data protection standard throughout the EU. These regulations were designed to create a unified standard for personal data privacy and to simplify the enforcement of data privacy laws throughout all EU countries. What some organizations are surprised to learn, is that these regulations go beyond the physical confines of the EU and apply to any organization that collects or holds information on EU citizens. This means that companies throughout the world need to understand and ensure compliance with GDRP guidelines if they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Organizations in control of the data must provide a free electronic copy of the data. Right to be forgotten: Covered data subjects have the right to have the organization in control of his/her personal data erase and stop using that data if they withdraw consent. When this happens, the organization s data controller must weigh the subjects rights vs. the public interest in the availability of the data. As you can see, GDPR creates a lot of new regulations surrounding data use. This is a short list of examples, but GDPR also includes rules for data portability, legitimate use of data for direct marketing, data profiling and more. How does this impact an organization s cyber security approach? While every company should always be considering the safety and security of information, GDPR is looking to ensure that organizations are taking data security seriously and incorporating it into the initial design of any new systems, as well as securing all existing systems. Many large companies collecting data on EU citizens will be required to employ a Data Protection Officer to ensure compliance and proper reporting. Similar to US HIPAA requirements, GDPR calls for organizations to limit personal data access to only those users that requires the specific data to perform his/her job. Organizations must also prove that appropriate network safeguards are in place to protect the privacy of the data. With the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. How Does Equity Fulfil the Common Law How Does Equity Fulfill the Common Law Common Law Equity fulfils the common law, although it does not endeavour to displace it with a moral code. In order to be influential, the law is to be professed as both certain and predictable, and also flexible and fair. Specifically, it needs clear rules on the one hand, but flexibility on the other to produce exceptions to cases that lead to apparently incongruous or unjust conclusions if the rules are applied rigidly. Equity is an essence of principles, doctrines, and rules advanced initially by the Court of Chancery in positive competition with the rules, doctrines and principles of the Common Law Courts. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Remedies represent some interesting illustrations of the difference between law and equity; a difference which arose as; an accident of history, according to Lord Nicholls in A G v Blake. Ordinarily legal rights and remedies remain separate from equitable ones. Some similarities do, nevertheless, occur. For illustration, an injunction, an equitable remedy, can be sought for an anticipatory breach of contract, or to stop a nuisance, both common law claims. In A G v Blake, the House of Lords authorized the equitable remedy of account of profits for an assertion for violation of contract where the common law remedy of damages would have been insufficient. The equitable remedy of account of profits is usually accessible where there is a fiduciary relationship but the House of Lords endorsed its request otherwise in exceptional cases where it was the operative way to remedy a wrong. By distinction, in Seager v Copydex, proceedings were brought for breach of confidence in regard for confidential information exposed by the defendants about a carpet grip. Such a claim is equitable and normally the equitable remedies of injunction and account are obtainable. On the other hand, an injunction would have been unsuccessful and he judges awarded damages. It would appear, consequently that a common law remedy is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
