How Does Brutus Use Logos In Killing Caesar
Brutus use of logos in his funeral speech was ineffective because they were logical fallacies and
were not supported by solid facts. Brutus thought that Caesar s nature would change after he
obtained more power and authority, and that keeping Caesar around would be very catastrophic,
since he could turn his back against his people any time. In Brutus funeral speech, he tried to
convince the Plebeians that Caesar was too ambitious, was a threat to the Roman Republic, and
will cause the Plebeians to become suppressed and enslaved. As Brutus said to the Plebeians, Had
you rather Caesar were living and die all slaves, than that Caesar dead, to live all free men
(III.ii.24 26)? In this quote, Brutus justified killing Caesar by saying that if

Internet Dangers
As advancements in technology continue to exceed expectations, the internet starts to present itself
more as a reliable tool than a technological breakthrough. With every passing year, people take for
granted what a powerful asset the internet can truly be. However, common sense would suggest
that, every powerful tool comes with a significant risk. The risk takes the form of every lewd,
violent, and undesirable website which exists in the vast network of information. Some possess
knowledge extensive enough to avoid these dangerous sites, but those who are young and blissfully
ignorant of the unseen nature of the internetcannot possibly be expected to avoid these dangers on
their own. Therefore, in order to protect the minds, hearts, and futures of the younger generation,
precautionary measures should be taken to prevent children from accessing or stumbling upon sites
which, by no means, should ever be seen by children.
It is said that over 30 percent of all data transferred across the internet is pornography (Kleinman,
2017). With much of this content being easy to access and free to view, it comes as no surprise that
numerous children find themselve viewing explicit content. A study was done that shows up to
fifteen percent of all 12 17 year olds view pornography through online sources or other means, this
includes unwanted exposure. The study also states that 70 percent of 15 17 year old internet users
report stumbling upon pornography quite often. Teens who have had

Animal Lab Experiments
Animal lab experiments have long been a controversial issue especially among animal rights
activists. There has always been a conflict between scientists relying on animal laboratory research
for medical advancement, and animal rights activists that are against the abuse of animals within
these research facilities. Despite a series of U.S. federal regulations such as the AnimalWelfare Act,
the abuse of animals in medical laboratories still remain a problem.
In 1986, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) released an undercover video
called Breaking Barriers. The video highlights the atrocious conditions of chimpanzees and other
primates in a medical laboratory in Maryland formerly known as SEMA. The disturbing video

They need the necessary social interactions, physical touch, and activity to be healthy. However, the
longer these animals are trapped in these cages, the more they developed certain neurotic behaviors.
For example, they began to make these erratic movements within their cages, constant rocking, head
banging, and self mutilation. The senses of the primates are distorted in these double sealed cages.
They can only hear the humming of air pumps into their enclosures and the sound of their fellow
primates banging against the cages.
The adult chimpanzees that are infected with viral diseases are locked in a dark cage without any
type of stimulation or walking. These isolated chimpanzees can remain in this horrible condition
for fifty years. The baby primates are separated from their mothers and some die in the cages
before being infected with any virus. Other primates are sick from neglect and suffer facial
abrasions. The disturbing conditions at the SEMA facility caused such uproar among animal rights
activists, that primatologist; Dr. Jane Goodall called for the closing of the laboratory

Music In The Movie Jaws
Music is such an important component to a film. It changes the delivery of a scene and how the
audience reacts to a scene. A popular example of how music can dramatize a movie is the movie
Jaws. In the beach scene alone there are multiple times that music added to the viewing experience.
Parts that I will mention includes the musicwhen the shark was approaching the boy, when the
camera zoomed in on Martin Brody, and when the parents were frantically grabbing their kids.
Dialogue helps the viewer know what is helping in a scene but music adds something more, the
feelings. Jaws is most notorious for the iconic theme song. The shark attack scene would not be the
same without it. I have personally never watched this movie

Conducting Research Process
The first step in conducting research is identifying a problem. It is important in this step to choose
a problem that you are interested in and could provide a creative solution to. Also, choose a
problem that has relevance. Do not choose a problem that is random or too difficult to find a
solution to. The second step in conducting researchis reviewing the literature. In this step, you are
reading all of the papers, and reviewing all of the similar research that relates to the problem you
identified in the first step. This step will relate the relevance of your research to previous and
future research by others. This step will also educate you about what research has been conducted
about your problem, how the research was completed, and what conclusion was drawn from the
previous research. The third step of research is clarifying the problem. In this step, you take the
identified problem from step one and narrow it down into a smaller issue. The goal of... Show more

The fourth step of research is to clearly define terms and concepts in the context of your research.
In this step, you are defining the words and processes as they relate to your research and the
completion of your research. This step is important because other researchers and readers need
to be able to read and understand your work. Furthermore, these terms and concepts need to be
defined as how they relate to your study. Different words have different meanings based on the
situation. The fifth step is defining the population. In this step, you reveal who is participating or
who is the focus of your research. The population could be a group or an individual and can vary
in age, race, location, and education. You can use the problem you chose and the purpose of your
research in order to choose a group. This step in research is important because it makes your
research process more manageable, and keeps you on track while conducting

Santa Claus Ritual
At my house we are preparing to break the spell over one of the first deceptions we perpetrated
on our children. That is correct, we are bracing to break the news about Santa Claus. It is a
moment that I feel a little apprehension about. That moment when one or both of my kids ask us if
Santa is real and expect a real answer from us.
I know I shouldn t feel worried. I know this is a rite of passage most western kids experience. I
know because I did and I still love the Christmas season, and I had no hesitation perpetuating the
myth when it was my turn to do so.
However when I step back for a moment and look at what is happening I am encouraged. This
story we told them as kids has turned into more of a mystery and less of a deception, just ... Show

Every time one or the other of them asks we ve seen them probe a little further. Sometimes they
pause and you can see there minds at work. Other times they begin to lay their case out with the
clues they have amassed. Like when my youngest noticed that the wrapping paper Santa used
matched the paper we had been using. Or when my oldest had to discount the validity of shopping
mall Santas because there were just too many of them for them all to be real.
I remember putting the clues together and figuring it out, long before I was ready to admit it to
my parents. There was a window of time that I knew what was true, but wasn t read to give up the
magic. If my kids are there now I m more than happy to let them hold onto that magic for as long
as they want or need to.
For the time being it is a fascinating experience to watch their growing minds work. Sifting the
evidence uncovering the clues. Their critical thinking skills working at a problem that they will
eventually solve. When they discover the inconsistencies we let them ponder them, because a great
mystery is fun to

Schwan s Foodborne Illness Incident
Schwan s Sales Enterprise had the largest foodborne illness outbreak in history in Marshall,
Minnesota around 1994 (Rubenstein, 1998). Cliff Viessman, a tanker truck operator transported a
shipment of raw eggs that may have been infected with salmonella bacteria. The suspected
contamination was unknown to Viessman s employees. A foodborne illness is an infection or
irritation of the gastrointestinal that caused by foodor beverages that contain harmful bacteria,
parasites, viruses, or chemicals. The company truck was parked and pressure washed to eliminate
the bacteria. The next assignment was to transport ice cream mix to the Schwan s plant

When it comes to issues such as this you want to make sure you are not taking the blame for
someone else error. I give Schwan s company credit for reacting so quickly. I feel they took it too
far because they took the blame and did not know who was really at fault. The company
assumed they were at fault, but nothing was proven at first. It was smart for them to do a recall
on the ice cream and pull the ice cream off the shelves. Schwan s company took the blame to find
out Cliff Viessman, the tanker truck operator was responsible for the foodborne illness outbreak.
Viessman hauled raw eggs on the truck but did not disinfect the truck properly. The company
could have very well avoided a great financial lost. It was a learning experience for Schwan s
Sales Enterprises. They were able to rectify the situation successfully. Schwan s company could
have used the media to get the information out to more individuals quicker. Media coverage is the

The Effects Of Psychological Trauma On Women s Childhood...
Quantitative Article Review
The Purpose of the Study.
According to the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) study by the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention (CDC, 2014), over 60% of insured adults in the U.S. had experienced childhood
trauma, with 16% admitting to multiple types of abuse. This number can be even higher if the
study sample included uninsured individuals, especially those who were in the high risk, low
socioeconomic status, and underrepresented population. Child abuse and neglect can cause both
short term and long term effects, such as improper brain development, impaired cognitive and
socio emotional skills, lower language development, and high risk for chronic diseases, anxiety,
and substance abuse (CDC, 2016). Given this information, the purpose of the study by Grabbe,
Ball and Hall (2016) is to explore the severity of psychological trauma in women who were abused
as a child (Grabbe, Ball, Hall, 2016). The goal is to gain an understanding of what happened during
the women s childhood that may have prevented them from further abuse (Grabbe, et al., 2016).
Consequently, using that information to conceptualize interventions for prevention and treatment
of childhood and adolescent abuse (Grabbe, et al., 2016).

My Reading Experience
Laying on my comfortable bed under my warm covers with a chapter book in front of my face, I
turned to the last page.
It was a suc cess ful successful day, read the final line in the book.
My heart began to race as my eyes grew wide like an owl s. Had I really just read a whole chapter
book by myself? I sprung out of my bed and ran to go tell my mom.
Mommy, I just finished reading a chapter book all by myself! I exclaimed with a wide smile
plastered on my face.
I m so proud of you! my mother responded. I knew that you could do it! My mom gave me a huge
hug. At that moment, I realized that all of the long hours of practicing and reading had paid off. I
could finally read a chapter book.
Since I was young, my parents made reading a priority for me. When I was in kindergarten at my
preschool, I had a reading teacher who worked one on one with me to increase my level. As a
result, I was confident in my reading ability and excited for the first day of first grade at my new
red bricked elementary school. As I briskly walked through the main entrance and to my
classroom the morning of the first day, I squeezed my parents hands tightly with butterflies in my
stomach. I had only been inside the school one other time, at Meet the Teacher night, so I was still
unsure of what to expect. We found my classroom and put my pink polka dot backpack and
matching lunchbox on the hook below my cubby right inside the door. After finding my desk and

Sin In The Scarlett Letter
In the Scarlet Letter, Hester was punished for her sin, she had to wear the letter A on her chest.
The A on her chest stood for Adultery, Hester had to stand in front of the town s people where
she was constantly judged by them. James 4:12 reads There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the
one who is able to save and destroy. But you who are you to judge your neighbor ? The bible also
states that whoever is without sinthrow the first stone meaning that everyone sins. If the world
had to wear their sin, people would be judgmental, compare or help others through their sin,
asked for forgiveness yet still have to wear your sin lastly, if everyone had to wear their sin, the
world would be a less secretive place.
Hester committed adultery after her husband left her for a long period of time, she found love
with the towns minister Dimmesdale. She later realized she was pregnant, when walking into the
prison she walked passed a wild rose berry bush which later became pearl. The town s people
treated Hester and pearl so badly dismissing them from the community. Judging others ... Show

Community Of Practice Essay
The main difference between Labov s Speech Community and Ekert s Community of Practice is
that the Community of Practice is defined by more than the linguistics codes that are being used. It
is focused on the concept of doing valuable actions that will embrace the community. In order to be
part of a Community of Practice , one should have more than a choice of a language; all
characteristics of involvement in a group are of an importance. In addition, Community of Practice
is focused on the individual and the distinctive views of the different members of the community,
while the Speech Community emphasizes more on the configurations that are being created.

Describe the 3 types of membership within a CoP (Wenger, 1998) giving one example of each
from your own personal experience. The three types of membership within a Community of
Practice are full participation, peripheral participation and marginal participation. A full
participant is the one that participates in the practices of the community. For example, when a
participant is part of a group project in college, and does all the assignments, attends the
meetings and collaborates well with the other participants, this student is a full participant in his
/her community. A peripheral participation has only partial participation in the process. This
sometimes can be seen as a process of learning. For example, when a person is in a process of
learning how to swim, he first watches how it is done and then tries to do it. Thus, he becomes
partial participant. The marginal participation differs from the peripheral participation by the
access in the community. The marginal participant is somewhat sidelined from the process. For
example, when a group of friends are planning to go out to a club, only the ones that have 21 can
go, due to the restrictions of age. The ones that are under 21 are marginalized from

Compare And Contrast Healthcare And Us Healthcare
How is the US health care system both similar to and different from the health care systems of
Britain, Tokyo, Germany, Taiwan, and Switzerland? The US health care system has a
considerable amount of differences when compared to these countries. British health care
consists of government owned hospitals, no medical bills for citizens due to being entirely tax
paid, no medical bankruptcy, and utilization of gatekeepers to schedule appointments with
doctors. In the Japanese health care system, social insurance is employed requiring everyone to
have to have a plan, there are no scheduled appointments walk ins only, fixed prices for
procedures are decided for all hospitals by a yearly review board, and doctors don t get paid near
as much as US doctors. Some of the similarities between the systems when comparing to the US

The Artistic Elements Of LaocoпїЅn And His Sons
Laocoön and His Sons Muscles contorting in anguish, fangs brutally piercing the flesh, faces
drowning in suffering. This intense visual is shockingly manifested through marble in the sculpture
Laocoön and His Sons by Hagesandros, Polydoros, and Athenodoros of Rhodes. This alluring
orchestra of artistic elements is the perfect compilation of technical perfection and emotional
expression. The exaggerated drama of the piece is the style of the Greek s Hellenistic period. All
things considered, Laocoön and His Sons possess both exquisite formal components and content
and has the capability to provide insight into both the culture of the Greeks, as well as the attitudes
of humanity towards its enemies. To commence, the formal composition of Laocoön and His
Sons is enticing. The piece is carved in marblewith a height of eight feet. The marble white hue of
the statue seems to accentuate the intricate anatomy of the figures. The three males are arranged
upon a base. On one of the far sides of the platform, there resides a pillar style seating with
drapery which dangles off in a waterfall like manner. The central figure, and by far the most
substantial in size, Laocoön, sits at an angular position. This angular posture generates a dynamic
composition. His two sons, Antiphantes and Thymbraeus, struggle at his side as sea serpents
attack all three of the figures. There appear to be two sea serpents, one that is prominently digging
its fangs into Laocoön s pelvis. Moreover, a

Before you get on the road, you need to make sure that your brakes will be able to assist you should

Make Sure Your A/C Is Working Well
Finally, you may want to get your A/C checked before you hit the road. Nothing can dampen the
fun of a long summer road trip than a broken air conditioning. Your fun trip will quickly turn into
a sweaty mess. Run your air conditioning system and make sure that the air is cool. If the air
doesn t feel as cool as normal, take it in and have your mechanic add some refrigerant and check for
leaks.
Before you start on a long road trip, make sure you check you brakes, windshield wipers, fluid
levels and test out your air conditioning system. Although these are all maintenance checks you
should do on a regular basis, it is especially important to perform these checks when you know you
will be driving extensively far from home. Taking the time to run through this routine list could save
you from having to add a trip to the mechanic into your vacation plans.
You should also make sure that you are prepared for a road trip vehicle emergency. Carry an
extra container of coolant with you in your vehicle; it could come in handy if your vehicle
overheats. Additionally, make sure that you keep a first aid kit, road flares, jumper cables, and
tools to fix a flat tire in your vehicle. That way, you can be prepared for whatever the road throws at

that conquered the new world. Ranging from artwork, to astrological maps, to a reading of
submission, each group devised their own technique when claiming a new land. Physical
demarkation was the main practice the English used to symbolize the ownershipof new land. The
methods they used to mark such territory were the building of houses, gardens, and constructing

It had very specific instructions and everything had to be done by protocol. It had to be read aloud

natives would not yield to the Spanish authority then they would be warred upon. As said in
Chapter 3, It set the aims of warfare not as mere surrender, but as submission to the Catholicism and
its legitimate representative, the Spaniards. Thus, the spoken speech was focal point in Spanish
conquest. It requires that the indigenous peoples of the new world acknowledge the church as
superior of the world and therefore consent to have priests preach to them. The speech then goes on
to give a written disclaimer that if anyone were to not follow these guidelines they were subject to
death that they themselves brought upon them. The Spanish also used taxes as a form of
submission and humiliation to conquer new worlds. This came from the influences of jizya
inspired Moslem and Jewish tribute payments to Christian rulers. Under Christian rule the wealthy

Sickle Of Sickle Cell Disease
Sickle Cell Disease Sickle Cell Disease or also widely known as Sickle Cell Anemia is a genetic

Unknown Organic Compounds Lab Report
Identification of Unknown Organic Compounds by Melting Point, Boiling Point, Infrared and
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy Background and Method In the previous labs we were
experimenting with different methods so that we can find different physical properties of the
known compound. However, this lab report is a little different as it gives us two unknown
compounds where we have to use the prior knowledge we have gotten in the other labs to ensure
that we know exactly how to ultimately find the correct molecular structure of the unknown
compounds. Therefore in this lab, we had to perform elemental analysis, boiling point, infrared
(IR), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopies (NMR) and melting point. Thus, the main
objective of this lab was to ensure that the students knew how apply the techniques from the
previous labs and interpret the spectroscopy data to formulate the correct structure of the
compound. We were assigned G and H. G was the solid and H was the liquid unknown compound.
That being said the first step was the elemental analysis. Thus, the very first step was the

The theory for the melting point is that it helps with the indication of how pure a substance is,
also it helps in figuring out the melting point of the purer substances, sharper melting points

The Negative Impacts Of Women In Technology Education
Women s educational level is increased from the last few years by the invention of media literacy.
Women are encouraged to learn technology education and choose a new field for their future. It
has been explored that female applicants are less hired because they watched by both female and
male controllers as less skilled than male applicant. Empowerment takes place with the CARE s
leadership model that has been tested since 2009 in 28 countries. Girls get to know so much about
this, and they get leadership qualities through which they get more aware about equal rights.
(Stromquist 318 19) These kind of partiality highlight the gender, exercise that women faced at the
first stage of their occupation. Through opening new programs for girls that teach media literacy
and its negative impacts, it also opens new avenues for them, so women would be encouraged to
pursue new fields of educationthan what is expected from them and believe in what they want to
do, regardless of what media literacy teaches.Women plays crucial role in society development
education is very important for them.
Women are getting less opportunities to enroll in the technology class. The percentage in female
enrollment in technology classes is less than the enrollment of males. Gloeckner, Gene W. in his

field of education and explain there were just 10% female students in every technical field. Some

Nick Kroll Big Mouth Themes
The Netflix Original show Big Mouth by Nick Kroll is an animated series all about middle
school students and all of their experiences going through puberty. These students go through
some awkward moments, which people can relate to. I mean who didn t go through awkward
moments at that stage in life? It shows a variety of life experiences such as first kisses, first
period, random erections, fascination with sex, and much more. The show is very vulgar and
has a lot of inappropriate scenes. If you aren t the kind of person who finds swearing or sex
jokes funny, then this definitely is not the show for you. One of the main characters is the
Hormone Monster and he just might be the most vulgar character I have ever seen out of any
show. Have you ever seen a show where someone is making a decision, and a mini angel and

Violins, flutes, ruffs, and farthingales. Where are they all from you ask, the Elizabethan Era.
Music has always been important to society, but during the Elizabethan Era it played an extreme
role. This paper will give readers a deeper understanding of the music during the Elizabethan Era
and what it was to be a musician in that time. Welcome to the Elizabethan Era. Well everyone loves
music. Music deals with almost everything. Instrumental music was very popular during the
Elizabethan Era. There were many instruments. The most popular solo instruments of the time were
the virginal and the lute. The virginal was a popular variant of the harpsichord among the English
and one of Elizabeth s favorite instruments to play. The introduction of new musical instruments
such as the early violin called the viol, the early oboe called the hautboy and the keyboard musical
instruments called the spinet, harpsichord and the virginals provided the sounds which produced a
much more refined sound than had been produced during the Medieval era. They really used the
same instruments we do now. The only difference is it just looks different than it did back then. The
instruments we use look modern and probably sound a little better than they did back then.... Show

Effects Of Social Networking Sites On Relationships
Effects of Social Networking Sites on Relationships Several studies have found that using social
networking sites excessively, including partner surveillance and monitoring, posting ambiguous
information, and compulsive internet use, can be detrimental to romantic relationships
(Ridgway Clayton, 2016). Social networking sites such as Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook,
negatively influence our relationships. It is important to know the common conflicts and how
to avoid them. It is also important to realize how influential social networking sites affect our
relationships daily. In the following paragraphs, I am going to talk about conflicts in
relationships that are caused by Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Facebook is one of the most
popular networking sites in the world, next to LinkedIn and Google plus. However, recent
studies have found that people are unaware of Facebook s influence on our lives. With recent
technology and being able to communicate with thousands of people a day Facebook has

Julius Caesar Research Paper
Suetonius tells us that Julius Caesar enciphered his dispatches by writing D for A, E for B and so
on [742]. When Augustus Caesar ascended the throne, he changed the imperial cipher system so
that C was now written for A, D for B, and so on. In modern terminology, we would say that he
changed the key from D to C.
The Arabs generalized this idea to the monoalphabetic substitution, in which a keyword is used to
permute the cipher alphabet. We will write the plaintext in lowercase letters, and the ciphertext in
uppercase, as shown in Figure 5.1.

An example should explain all this. Suppose you had intercepted a message from a wartime
German agent, which you knew started with Heil Hitler, and that the first 10 letters of ciphertext
were DGTYI BWPJA. This means that the first 10 letters of the onetime pad were wclnb tdefj, as
shown in Figure 5.3.
Once he had burned the piece of silk with his key material, the spy could claim that he was

Now, we rarely get anything for nothing in cryptology, and the price of the perfect secrecy of the

Compare And Contrast Walt Whitman And I Too Sing America...
How are you known? A last name is what defines them, it tells their past. It tells what they should
be like in relation to ancestors. When the word amerca comes to mind do you consider it part of
you? Walt whitman was a man that was born in New York, he knew what america came from.
Whitman wrote a poem called I Hear America Singing. In this poem he tells of citizens doing their
job or daily duty while singing America. Later on in history a man named Langston Hughes, he was
an African americanpoet during the Harlem Renissance. This was a time period that allowed
Afican Americans Poetry to be taken seriously. Langston wrote a poem that struck the hearts of
all people, it is called I, Too, Sing Amerca, this poem expands on how hard Africna Americans
had it. They had to take care of everything for their meals, and after all of that they were sent to

Myth Of Meritocracy
The Myth of Meritocracy: Corruption in the Media and America s Education System
Two hundred and fifty years ago, America was formed as a classless society, a meritocracy based
on initiative, effort, and perseverance (Rocca 2). It was the land of equal opportunity, where
power was vested in those individuals who had earned it. Advancement in society was based on
merit, not favoritism. Those were the ideals America was built upon, but that is no longer the case.
Diana Kendall s essay Framing Class, Vicarious Living and Conspicuous Consumption and Jean
Anyon s study From Social Class and the Hidden Curriculum of Work analyze two areas of society
that foster inequality and validate the myth of meritocracy: our class system and education system.
Anyon s essay describes the different teaching methods in fifth grade classrooms located in varying
socioeconomic communities. Through her research, she points out that students in working class
schools are treated much worse than those in affluent, elite classrooms, supporting the claim that
opportunity is not distributed fairly in our public education system. Kendall s essay investigates
another area where meritocracy should be but no longer is at work. She places blame on the media
for the growing gap between upper and lower class Americans. She analyzes the way the media
shapes our everyday lives and taints our view of class and social inequality. While both essays use
logos to build their arguments and strengthen their ethos, Kendall takes a more informal tone in her
essay and more heavily utilizes pathos. Although, rarely, does she blatantly bad mouth the media,
Kendall has a more opinionated thesis littered with negative undertones about the media s influence
within society. Anyon s summary of the study she conducted is purely qualitative data that she
presents in an unbiased manner. Although she still makes an argument, there is little to no personal
opinion about the issue. Instead, she chooses to build her ethos through clear and logical data,
allowing room for the reader to really form their own opinion about the matter and potentially
investigate it further. Framing Class, Vicarious Living and Conspicuous Consumption analyzes the
influential role the

Race, Incarceration, And American Values Essay
A Summary of Race, Incarceration, and American Values
The book Race, Incarceration, and American Values describes mass incarceration as essentially a
legalized form of genocide that is slowly destroying the fiber of African American families and
communities. It provides explanations for the origin of mass incarceration as well as the reasons
for the disproportionate level of African Americans in the prisonsystem. Glenn Loury, along with
Pamela Karian, Tommie Shelby, and Loic Wacquant discuss how America has let fear and greed
cause an inequitable landscape for citizens who have the misfortune of being born the wrong
color and of the wrong social economic class. The principals of equality and freedom on which
America was founded has become nothing more than smoke and mirrors. Maybe the pride
America displays to the World as a Global power incapable of wrong doing is what is holding it
back from recognizing the mistakes it made and undergoing to process of change. Or, maybe it is
what we fear most. It is what we know in our heads and hearts; but never dared to say. That it is a
careful crafted system to keep those with power in power!
Glenn Loury explains why incarceration became so popular and how it affects the African American
community more than all others. The early 1990s was dubbed the age of crime, fueled by drive by
shootings, drug deals gone bad, crack cocaine, and gangster rap. Crime became the new social hot

The Warren Court And The Supreme Court
In 1953, Chief Justice Earl Warren ascended to the Supreme Court after the death of former
Chief Justice Fred M. Vinson. Chief Justice Warren led the Supreme Court, most notably during
the 1960s, which were already a time of great social and governmental change. He, along with
the rest of the justices on his court, helped to shape both the both the court and the country
during this time in dramatic and long lasting ways. The Warren Court took place during a period
of rapid change in American history, leading it to produce many impactful decisions that
influenced the course of federal and state laws for decades, as it took a judicial activist stance on
how it approached decision making in cases regarding civil rights, the right to privacy, criminal
due process, voting rights and election law, as well as the first amendment. The Warren Court led
the judicial system in the United States for sixteen years, with 17 justices total, although its most
impactful version existed between 1962 and 1969. The court heard and ruled upon 197 cases in
total during its tenure, many of which dramatically shaped or created legal precedent. This court is
best known for its expansive federal control at what was seen as at the expense of states rights and
its heavy judicial activism, enhancing the Bill of Rights. Chief Justice Earl Warren, in his control
over the court, tried his best to make sure to limit the arguments that the public might have by

evaluation started off as a branch of psychology in the late 50s, as a result of curriculum
innovations. It was then referred to as Educational Measurement, Measurement and Evaluation or
Test and Measurement. Within the last few decades, educational evaluation has grown into a
separate, independent discipline, though with some leanings on the ideas of psychologists,
psychometricians and statisticians.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using the evaluation results to improve learning and teaching. More so, evaluation is a continuous
process. It is essential in all fields of teaching and learning activity where judgment needs to be
made. All evaluation devices/instruments should be valid and reliable. They are valid when they
measure what they aim to measure, and they are reliable when they produce consistent results over
time. The teacher as an evaluator should be impartial as much as possible. He should try to avoid
personal prejudices. All evaluation instruments should take into account the practical problems of
administering and marking of the responses i.e. the instruments should be convenient to administer
and clear to the pupils. The pupils responses should be easy to mark. Educational evaluation should
be well planned in advance and should be carried out continuously, periodically and at least each
term. Innovations Brought About in the Evaluation Technique of the Nigerian Educational System
There are some faults that can be identified in the evaluation techniques used before, which through
the efforts of the educational evaluators, have been corrected or perfected. The evaluation technique
used before was the one shot or final, end of term or year or session examination. This technique
had served as a great threat to the students, resulting in students cheating, memorizing notes and
carrying out premature search for question papers in a bid to pass. Students who passed the end of

Film Analysis Of Vertigo
Vertigo (1958) is frequently considered director Alfred Hitchcock s greatest film. It is the story
of a melancholy police officer, Scottie (James Stewart), forced to retire after his vertigo caused a
tragic accident. A friend, Gavin, tries to capitalize on Scottie s skills, so Gavin asks Scottie to
follow his unstable wife. By accident, Scottie falls in lovewith this wonderfully mysterious woman,
Madeleine. Scottie does not realize, however, that he is falling prey to an elaborate scheme set
up by Gavin which will make it appear like Madeleine kills herself. Scottie was unable to get to the
wife before she jumped out a window because of his vertigo.
Unaware of the scheme, Scottie feels responsible for the death and falls into a terrible mental
state. His friend, Midge, tries to pull him out of it, but to no avail. Finally, one day, Scottie spots
a woman that looks like Madeleine on the street. He follows her to her home and asks too many
questions. She knows who he is, but she can t reveal that he was just a pawn in a terrible crime.
Scottie is relentless and finally the look alike, Judy (Kim Novak) agrees to date him. Scottie
proceeds to control every aspect of Judy so that she looks like Madeleine. He changes her hair and
clothes. He falls in love with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hitchcock s direction was always top notch, but here, he created a new technique to demonstrate
Scottie s vertigo that is truly mesmerizing. Every shot is thoughtful and well crafted. Jimmy
Stewart plays the obsessed Scottie so well that it is actually disturbing. And though Kim Novak
was, at times, criticized for a stiff performance, more people now realize that she embodies the
terrified, abused, accessory to murder perfectly. The performance of Gavin is the weakest of the
film, but he is not the focus, so it does not affect the overall affect much. Holistically, the
performances and directorial choices are

The Characteristics Of Crossword Puzzles And Dementia
Crossword Puzzles and Dementia
It is often said that puzzles do many good things for the brain. They are challenging and force
people to actively think. With the rise of dementia in America, public interest in finding a cure or
prevention method has increased. Scientist and academics are now constantly attempting to solve
the issue. A hypothesis that many of them have, is that doing cognitive stimulating activities will
prevent the onset of dementia. There have been several studies on crossword puzzles and whether or
not they can prevent cognitive decline. Their popularity in society combined with their accessibility
and low cost have made them a point of interest. Despite numerous studies, scientists haven t been
able to reach a consensus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What To Do?
There are two different claims: it helps fight dementia and it doesn t help fight dementia. Each side
has compelling arguments and supporting evidence for their claims, which makes coming to a
conclusion about the issue quite difficult.
You can read and analyze the studies published and attempt to come to a conclusion yourself, but
doing this isn t easy. These studies are very complicated and it s the leading minds in the
researchers respective fields conducting the experiments. It may be difficult to understand and
properly analyze what they ve done to come to the conclusion they have.
Doing crossword puzzles may or may not help fight dementia. If it does help, then it s
recommended that you do them, of course. If they don t, then you don t have to do them in order
to maintain your cognitive abilities. The issue is that there is no clear answer. With that being said,
considering we don t know if cognitive training works, you should do brain training exercises like
crossword puzzles. The reason being is that there is no disadvantage in doing

The Impact of the Dred Scott Case on the United States...
The Impact of the Dred Scott Case on the United States
The Dred Scott Case had a huge impact on the United States as it is today. The Thirteenth and
Fourteenth Amendments have called it the worst Supreme Court decision ever rendered and was
later overturned. The Dred Scott Decision was a key case regarding the issue of slavery; the case
started as a slave seeking his rightful freedom and mushroomed into a whole lot more. 65
The reason why Dred Scott decided to pursue his freedom is unknown, but there are a couple
theories. For example, it is believed that most likely, Scott decided to bring his case to court after
years of [talks] with other slaves that had done the same. (Herda, 30) This shows ... Show more

In conclusion, this case could have been started for monetary reasons, but the initial decision
appeared to be made based on the case being controversial in many areas beyond monetary
considerations.
205
The decision from the first case was reached in just one day, rather expeditiously for a case, which
took fourteen months to get to trial; yet there were valid reason. For Example, the judge ruled, the
testimony could not prove that Irene Emerson owned Dred Scott. (Lukes, 21) This shows that the
burden of proof was on Dred Scott to prove his ownership, in order to have a ruling on his
freedom. This also shows how one tiny oversight by one side can affect the outcome of a case.
In addition, the record indicated, The said defendant is not guilty in manner and form as the
plaintiff hath in his declaration complained against her. (Lukes 22) This shows that because of
Scott s attorney s error in argument, the court had to rule in favor of Mrs. Emerson. This also
shows that in a strange twist of fate, in effect, allowed Mrs. Emerson to keep her slaves because
no one had proven they were her slaves. In conclusion, Dred Scott had lost in the first court
appearance, but the case was far from over. 182
Scott s second set of attorney s, Alexander P. Field and David N. Hall filed the appeal in hopes of
another hearing being denied, so the case could be elevated to the United States Supreme Court.

Memoir Of A Geisha Essay
The film that I watched is гЂЉThe Memoir of a GeishaгЂ‹, and it was released in the United
States on December 9, 2005. The director of this film is Rob Marshall, and 2 main characters in
the movie are Sayuri (starring by Ziyi Zhang) and Hatsumomo (Gong Li). Although this film is
produced by American directors, the origin of the story is in Japan. By the year when Chiyo is
nine, her father reluctantly sold her and her sister to a geisha house because of poverty. In that
geisha house, she is forced to do the cleaning every day with no return, until one day she achieves
higher hierarchy and is able to serve the customers. This story happened during the World War II.

They are the ritualization in Japanese culture, women s implicit expression of love, women s
hierarchy in 18th Japan, and how the landscape of Japan influences the prosperity of Geisha
culture. Unlike the enthusiastic Western women, women grew up in oriental culture often have
more restrained and gentle attitude, and this is one of the most symbolic cultural landscapes in
Japan. In the movie, Sayuri chases for love and all she wants to do is to get closer to the
Chairman. In fact, before the end of the story, she only sees chairman a few times in all, but she
has strong faith to be with him. It could even be said that her whole life started from the few
minutes of their encounters on the bridge. This is the typical oriental love, implicit but deeply
passionate. Another cultural issue that is mentioned in the film is ritualization. In the film, the
Colonel is impressed by the importance of rituals in Japan. This ritualization is shown
completely in this film. For example, In the other places, it is rare to see clients and geisha
bowing to each other before the intercourse, but this is a norm in Japan. So it could be said one
significant factor in Japanese culture is idealization, and Geisha is a component of this fantasy.

What Makes Good People Do Bad Thing Analysis
Good vs. Evil is often seen by many people as the foundation to many conflicts. Many also often
assume that one side of a conflict is right and good, and the other wrong and evil. Good and evil
go hand in hand. Depending on the environment, good people can get caught up in some very bad
things. Good people do bad things because of desperation, religion, and peer pressure.
In the article What Makes Good People Do Bad Things by Melissa Dittmann it briefly explains the
Stanford Prison Experiment. Students took the role of being either a guard or prisoner. During the
experiment the guards began to abuse their power and take advantage of the prisoners. Many of the
prisoners had emotional breakdowns. This experiment showed that any human being can quickly
submit to evil in the right environment. What pushes good people to their limit to do evil choices?
With the right environment even the holiest people who got to church every Sunday, pay their
tithes, don t steal, and treat others the way they want to be treated can do evil things.
Being desperate is a cause of making good people commit evil choices. Being desperate can leave
you feeling tired and hopeless. Desperation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

life such as making them feel wanted it brings people together, gives them a community for

those in need such as the promise of an afterlife. In the Holy Bible Abraham and the Israelites
were promised The Promise Land and so on. According to research, peer pressure can motivate
individuals to stay focused and work hard towards achieving their goals. These are all good points,
but these are the same things that cause good people to do bad things. Too much of anything isn t

Examples Of Guilt In Macbeth
Guilt is a feeling of responsibility or remorse for a crime or cruel action. Usually, people have this
feeling once they do something terrible and it makes them want to fix their wrongdoings. However,
when Macbeth felt guilt it drove him to do more atrocious actions. In the play, Macbeth, written by
William Shakespeare, a general whose name is Macbethreceives prophecy by three witches that
one day he will become king of Scotland. Consumed by his ambition and spurred to action by his
wife Macbeth murders King Duncan and does anything in his power to remain king. After getting
blinded by this idea of being king he ultimately dies by the hand of Macduff. Shakespeare develops
the characters Macbeth and Lady Macbeth to demonstrate how guiltmanifests... Show more content

Throughout the entire play, Macbeth, Shakespeare shows how Macbeth s guilt negatively
affected him emotionally as time went on. At the beginning of the play, Macbeth has a minor
emotional breakdown after he kills King Duncan. This emotional breakdown shows the guilt
that Macbeth felt, Will all great Neptune s ocean wash this blood clean from my hand (ii.2.63
64.29). Shakespeare uses this analogy to show the magnitude of his crime and how that guilt
can not wash off and go away easily. In the time period that Macbeth was in killing a king was a
major crime, so him not being able to wash the blood away helps create the idea that Macbeth
knows what he has done and feels the sin that he has committed. During the middle of the play,
Macbeth has Banquo killed so he doesn t take the crown. When Macbeth was going to enjoy
dinner and sit down at the table he saw Banquo s ghost appear and look at him, Thou hast no
speculation in those eyes, which thou dost glare (iii.4.96 97.54). This imagery that Shakespeare
uses helps to show that Macbeth feels some guilt of what he did and that guilt will come back to
haunt him. Even though Banquo is not physically

How Was Mendoza Able To Transcend His Violent Nature
I think that the Jesuits were right in establishing the missions by keeping the real power in their
own hands. By keeping the power, they are able to support the right of the Indians for justice with
their lives.
Was the character Mendoza able to transcend his violent nature?
The character Mendoza was able to transcend his violent nature. He was violent at the beginning
and killed many people, including his brother. He has avoided violence ever since he climbed the
falls. However, he returned to his violent nature when he decides to protect the mission militarily,
which goes against Father Gabriel s and God s wishes. Ultimately, he was able to transcend his
violent nature because he chose to help the native child rather than initiating the trap on the enemy.

before he came to the priest. As the priest explains, he sees Mendoza as a coward who runs away
from the world and his problems. He tried to run away of the jealousy of his wife s affair. To
avoid confrontation he had to resort to violence and it resulted in his brothers death. He ran
away from this guilt to the church, where he is trying to die from starvation. He first shows
determination and willingness to make a change in his life and obtain absolution for his actions
when he attempts to climb the fall with a bundle of weapons. He built a friendship with the
natives. He no longer believed in violence after his brother s death. As opposed to his character
who killed natives in the beginning of the movie, the character he is after his climb could not kill
the pig that was in the forest. Although Mendoza continued to kill people after, he did it to defend
the natives, which shows he has grown to care for them. Instead of pulling the trigger at the end,
he chose to help the native child. He has stronger morals as he learned to value the lives of

Social Scientist Phrase, Presentation Of Self, And Self
In this modern day world people may continuously confuse similarly used words, and often think
they mean the same thing. However, in reality they don t. Nonetheless, the main focus words are
identity, and self. Identity to me is similar to social scientist phrase presentation of self , and what
that means is how a person wants to present themselves to others. Similar to actors, and singers that
are constructively criticized by their image, so they can better it to wow their fans. In contrast to self
which is being true to who you are. As seen in When the Emperor was Divine the familystruggle
with knowing their self, and identity. The family begins as middle upper class materialistic
people in California that are nameless with a sense of family unity, and self worth. Eventually
transforming to isolated, exhausted, loss souls having to wear ID numbers on their collar (p.

about in memories, and letters. Even so far away his family describes him as loving, caring, and
warm hearted. The children would say Our father, the father we remembered, and had dreamed
of, almost nightly, all through the years of the war, was handsome and strong. He moved quickly,
surely, with his head held high in the air. He liked to draw for us. He liked to sing for us. He
liked to laugh (p. 132). All to show that to them he was everything you d wantin a father, but after

  • 2. How Does Brutus Use Logos In Killing Caesar Brutus use of logos in his funeral speech was ineffective because they were logical fallacies and were not supported by solid facts. Brutus thought that Caesar s nature would change after he obtained more power and authority, and that keeping Caesar around would be very catastrophic, since he could turn his back against his people any time. In Brutus funeral speech, he tried to convince the Plebeians that Caesar was too ambitious, was a threat to the Roman Republic, and will cause the Plebeians to become suppressed and enslaved. As Brutus said to the Plebeians, Had you rather Caesar were living and die all slaves, than that Caesar dead, to live all free men (III.ii.24 26)? • 3. Internet Dangers As advancements in technology continue to exceed expectations, the internet starts to present itself more as a reliable tool than a technological breakthrough. With every passing year, people take for granted what a powerful asset the internet can truly be. However, common sense would suggest that, every powerful tool comes with a significant risk. The risk takes the form of every lewd, violent, and undesirable website which exists in the vast network of information. Some possess knowledge extensive enough to avoid these dangerous sites, but those who are young and blissfully ignorant of the unseen nature of the internetcannot possibly be expected to avoid these dangers on their own. Therefore, in order to protect the minds, hearts, and futures of the younger generation, precautionary measures should be taken to prevent children from accessing or stumbling upon sites which, by no means, should ever be seen by children. It is said that over 30 percent of all data transferred across the internet is pornography (Kleinman, 2017). With much of this content being easy to access and free to view, it comes as no surprise that numerous children find themselve viewing explicit content. A study was done that shows up to fifteen percent of all 12 17 year olds view pornography through online sources or other means, this includes unwanted exposure. The study also states that 70 percent of 15 17 year old internet users report stumbling upon pornography quite often. Teens who have had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Animal Lab Experiments Animal lab experiments have long been a controversial issue especially among animal rights activists. There has always been a conflict between scientists relying on animal laboratory research for medical advancement, and animal rights activists that are against the abuse of animals within these research facilities. Despite a series of U.S. federal regulations such as the AnimalWelfare Act, the abuse of animals in medical laboratories still remain a problem. In 1986, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) released an undercover video called Breaking Barriers. They can only hear the humming of air pumps into their enclosures and the sound of their fellow primates banging against the cages. The adult chimpanzees that are infected with viral diseases are locked in a dark cage without any type of stimulation or walking. These isolated chimpanzees can remain in this horrible condition for fifty years. The baby primates are separated from their mothers and some die in the cages before being infected with any virus. Other primates are sick from neglect and suffer facial abrasions. • 6. Music In The Movie Jaws Music is such an important component to a film. It changes the delivery of a scene and how the audience reacts to a scene. A popular example of how music can dramatize a movie is the movie Jaws. In the beach scene alone there are multiple times that music added to the viewing experience. Parts that I will mention includes the musicwhen the shark was approaching the boy, when the camera zoomed in on Martin Brody, and when the parents were frantically grabbing their kids. Dialogue helps the viewer know what is helping in a scene but music adds something more, the feelings. Jaws is most notorious for the iconic theme song. According to the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC, 2014), over 60% of insured adults in the U.S. had experienced childhood trauma, with 16% admitting to multiple types of abuse. This number can be even higher if the study sample included uninsured individuals, especially those who were in the high risk, low socioeconomic status, and underrepresented population. Child abuse and neglect can cause both short term and long term effects, such as improper brain development, impaired cognitive and socio emotional skills, lower language development, and high risk for chronic diseases, anxiety, and substance abuse (CDC, 2016). Given this information, the purpose of the study by Grabbe, Ball and Hall (2016) is to explore the severity of psychological trauma in women who were abused as a child (Grabbe, Ball, Hall, 2016). The goal is to gain an understanding of what happened during the women s childhood that may have prevented them from further abuse (Grabbe, et al., 2016). For example, when a participant is part of a group project in college, and does all the assignments, attends the meetings and collaborates well with the other participants, this student is a full participant in his /her community. A peripheral participation has only partial participation in the process. This sometimes can be seen as a process of learning. For example, when a person is in a process of learning how to swim, he first watches how it is done and then tries to do it. Thus, he becomes partial participant. The marginal participation differs from the peripheral participation by the access in the community. The marginal participant is somewhat sidelined from the process. For example, when a group of friends are planning to go out to a club, only the ones that have 21 can go, due to the restrictions of age. The ones that are under 21 are marginalized from ... Compare And Contrast Healthcare And Us Healthcare How is the US health care system both similar to and different from the health care systems of Britain, Tokyo, Germany, Taiwan, and Switzerland? The US health care system has a considerable amount of differences when compared to these countries. British health care consists of government owned hospitals, no medical bills for citizens due to being entirely tax paid, no medical bankruptcy, and utilization of gatekeepers to schedule appointments with doctors. In the Japanese health care system, social insurance is employed requiring everyone to have to have a plan, there are no scheduled appointments walk ins only, fixed prices for procedures are decided for all hospitals by a yearly review board, and doctors don t get paid near as much as US doctors. Some of the similarities between the systems when comparing to the US plan include: Japanese patients paying bills however they are very cheap, privately owned hospitals and private doctors are used in the... British doctors are happy with the compensation, despite making less than US doctors, but some do say they see far too many patients. Most Japanese doctors think that the system is good for the country, but they get paid little compared to the other countries and far less when compared to the US; there are no rich private doctors in Japan. This intense visual is shockingly manifested through marble in the sculpture LaocoГ¶n and His Sons by Hagesandros, Polydoros, and Athenodoros of Rhodes. This alluring orchestra of artistic elements is the perfect compilation of technical perfection and emotional expression. The exaggerated drama of the piece is the style of the Greek s Hellenistic period. All things considered, LaocoГ¶n and His Sons possess both exquisite formal components and content and has the capability to provide insight into both the culture of the Greeks, as well as the attitudes of humanity towards its enemies. To commence, the formal composition of LaocoГ¶n and His Sons is enticing. The piece is carved in marblewith a height of eight feet. The marble white hue of the statue seems to accentuate the intricate anatomy of the figures. The three males are arranged upon a base. On one of the far sides of the platform, there resides a pillar style seating with drapery which dangles off in a waterfall like manner. The central figure, and by far the most substantial in size, LaocoГ¶n, sits at an angular position. This angular posture generates a dynamic composition. His two sons, Antiphantes and Thymbraeus, struggle at his side as sea serpents attack all three of the figures. There appear to be two sea serpents, one that is prominently digging its fangs into LaocoГ¶n s pelvis. Moreover, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If the air doesn t feel as cool as normal, take it in and have your mechanic add some refrigerant and check for leaks. Before you start on a long road trip, make sure you check you brakes, windshield wipers, fluid levels and test out your air conditioning system. Although these are all maintenance checks you should do on a regular basis, it is especially important to perform these checks when you know you will be driving extensively far from home. Taking the time to run through this routine list could save you from having to add a trip to the mechanic into your vacation plans. Physical demarkation was the main practice the English used to symbolize the ownershipof new land. The methods they used to mark such territory were the building of houses, gardens, and constructing fences. Houses created a legal right to the land. However, this lab report is a little different as it gives us two unknown compounds where we have to use the prior knowledge we have gotten in the other labs to ensure that we know exactly how to ultimately find the correct molecular structure of the unknown compounds. Therefore in this lab, we had to perform elemental analysis, boiling point, infrared (IR), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopies (NMR) and melting point. Thus, the main objective of this lab was to ensure that the students knew how apply the techniques from the previous labs and interpret the spectroscopy data to formulate the correct structure of the compound. • 37. Myth Of Meritocracy The Myth of Meritocracy: Corruption in the Media and America s Education System Two hundred and fifty years ago, America was formed as a classless society, a meritocracy based on initiative, effort, and perseverance (Rocca 2). It was the land of equal opportunity, where power was vested in those individuals who had earned it. Advancement in society was based on merit, not favoritism. Those were the ideals America was built upon, but that is no longer the case. Diana Kendall s essay Framing Class, Vicarious Living and Conspicuous Consumption and Jean Anyon s study From Social Class and the Hidden Curriculum of Work analyze two areas of society that foster inequality and validate the myth of meritocracy: our class system and education system. Anyon s essay describes the different teaching methods in fifth grade classrooms located in varying socioeconomic communities. Through her research, she points out that students in working class schools are treated much worse than those in affluent, elite classrooms, supporting the claim that opportunity is not distributed fairly in our public education system. Kendall s essay investigates another area where meritocracy should be but no longer is at work. She places blame on the media for the growing gap between upper and lower class Americans. She analyzes the way the media shapes our everyday lives and taints our view of class and social inequality. While both essays use logos to build their arguments and strengthen their ethos, Kendall takes a more informal tone in her essay and more heavily utilizes pathos. Although, rarely, does she blatantly bad mouth the media, Kendall has a more opinionated thesis littered with negative undertones about the media s influence within society. Anyon s summary of the study she conducted is purely qualitative data that she presents in an unbiased manner. Although she still makes an argument, there is little to no personal opinion about the issue. Instead, she chooses to build her ethos through clear and logical data, allowing room for the reader to really form their own opinion about the matter and potentially investigate it further. Maybe the pride America displays to the World as a Global power incapable of wrong doing is what is holding it back from recognizing the mistakes it made and undergoing to process of change. Or, maybe it is what we fear most. It is what we know in our heads and hearts; but never dared to say. That it is a careful crafted system to keep those with power in power!
