The document discusses georeferencing historical maps online through collaborative tools. It introduces Georeferencer.org, an online and open source tool that allows users to georeference maps in a web browser without specialized GIS software or local file handling. The tool enables crowdsourcing of georeferencing work. It also envisions using georeferenced historical maps for 3D visualizations and comparing maps to provide additional historical context and analysis.
A business usually pays other parties by cheque, with information written on both the cheque itself and a corresponding cheque counterfoil. A deposit slip is filled out when depositing money including cash, cheques, and money orders into a bank account, with the depositor keeping a duplicate and the bank keeping the original. When a customer pays a business through various methods like cash, cheque, or credit/debit card, the business can provide a receipt, cash register receipt, or credit card slip to acknowledge receiving payment.

This document outlines digital strategies for museums and cultural heritage organizations. It discusses establishing goals, pilot projects, feedback analysis, and iterative improvement. Key strategies addressed include collections management, digital infrastructure, exhibitions and curation, and communications. Examples from Tate, Cooper Hewitt, and Rijksmuseum demonstrate audience-centered and open approaches across platforms to make collections accessible and reusable. The task section prompts designing a project strategy documenting the process from concept to deployment and integration with existing approaches. A presentation of the strategy is requested in December.
This document discusses site analysis for architectural design. It explains that interior and architectural designs require an understanding of the physical site or context. Site analysis involves both qualitative and quantitative study of the dimensions, climate, demographics, history, activities, colors, materials, construction details, furnishings, and services of a location. Proper site analysis is important for relating the design process to the specific characteristics and evolution of a place over time. The document concludes by outlining an assignment for students to conduct site analysis of a city and create a poster or DVD cover presenting their findings.

Expanded museum experience through netwoked imageHolly Ling Hou
This document discusses research on using networked images to provide an expanded museum experience for visitors. The aim is to make use of images shared online and offline to develop collaborative services that transform the visiting experience from passive viewing to active participation and integration. The research questions examine how networked images change engagement from one-way communication to two-way, and how visitors may use such images as a research tool and how museums can use them to improve exhibitions. The methods will use an inductive approach, grounded theories, service design techniques and photo elicitation. The conclusion is to identify gaps in literature, understand changing community demands, and explore the relationship between photos and service design in museums.
The document discusses digital strategies for museums and cultural heritage institutions. It summarizes four case studies of museum digital strategies from 2013-2016 that focused on open collections, audience engagement, and synchronization across digital and physical platforms. It then outlines key components of a digital strategy including goals, methods, pilot projects, and evaluation. Finally, it maps out example strategies for areas like collections management, digital infrastructure, exhibitions, and communications.
This document proposes a new tourism model for historic cities that focuses on valorizing their musical heritage through information and communication technologies (ICT). It suggests that music can play a key role in connecting the tangible and intangible heritage of a place. As a case study, it focuses on the Mediterranean island of Corfu and its old town, which currently relies on a tourism model centered around sun, sand and summer. The document outlines a methodology involving questionnaires, focus groups, and a pilot project to explore how emphasizing Corfu's musical heritage and using ICT/AR could help diversify its tourism industry and promote local community participation and sustainable, creative economic development. The goal is to determine if music can create a shared space between visitors
This document summarizes the Urban Mediaspace Aarhus project in Denmark. It describes the framework of the project which included building a new main library, citizens' services building, and renovating public spaces. It details the vision of creating an open, informal learning space for collaboration, dialogue, and inspiration. Examples are then provided of innovative partnership projects the library engaged in, such as digital installations, gaming programs, events for youth, and mobile probes to better understand users. The document emphasizes the library's focus on user involvement, testing ideas, and an experimental mindset.
The document discusses stakeholder involvement in heritage management. It describes the HerO project which aims to develop integrated cultural heritage management plans through stakeholder participation. Two approaches to stakeholder involvement in world heritage sites are described: establishing a local support group or conducting public questionnaires and consultations. The conclusion emphasizes the benefits of stakeholder involvement, such as stronger ownership and identification with heritage strategies. It also outlines best practices for a successful participation process.

This document outlines the keynote presentation on management plans for historic urban areas given by Nils Scheffler at the HerO Final Conference in Regensburg, Germany. Scheffler discusses that management plans are required by UNESCO for World Heritage sites and can help revitalize historic areas. Effective management plans have an integrated approach coordinating preservation and development, involve stakeholders through participation, and establish concrete objectives and actions. They balance safeguarding cultural heritage with attracting development through a management structure that coordinates demands and actions.
The document summarizes a research project on the development of authoring tools for the collaborative building of non-immersive virtual museums to support learning via the internet. The project created prototypes that allow students to organize and curate their own virtual museums collaboratively. It involved graduate and post-graduate students from various programs and was concluded. Findings from the project were presented in conferences in Brazil and Germany.
