The value of Social Analytics can be surfaced in many ways. Sometimes is quite visual like a leader board that helps motivate participation. Other times it's behind the scenes like the algorithms used to recommend groups to join or pages to read. Either way, social analytics can help you make better informed decisions, provide more relevancies to your interactions and ultimately help you get you and your company be more successful. This session will take a look at some of the real world implementations of social analytics available today from many of the social business vendors. We'll talk about the trends in this space and discuss some of the possible future directions.

Taking the Training Wheels Off Social SoftwareAlan Lepofsky
The Shift From Sharing To Getting Work Done
Over the last few years employees have slowly grown accustomed to using social software at work. Actions such as posting status updates, sharing links to web sites and publishing personal blogs have provided great starting points for getting people engaged, but now it's time for employees to start using social software to help Get Work Done. In this session we'll discuss the growing trends of using social tools for task/project management and integration of social elements into core-businesses process. You'll hear how departments such as Human Resources, Marketing and Support can use social technologies to improve the way people work. Topics will include social/workforce analytics, social media monitoring, mobile devices and gamification. It's time to take social software from a tool for sharing to a key contributor of company success.

What’s User Experience and Why Should I Care?Scott Abel
Presented at DocTrain East 2007 by Emily Wiese and Dr. Mike Patterson, APTIMA -- User-friendly. User-centered design. User experience. Experience Design. Human Factors. How many times do you hear these buzz words in your workplace? What does it mean to utilize users input throughout the entire product development lifecycle? How can technical communicators use principles of experience design and human factors to develop products that are both useful and easy-to-use? In this presentation, we will provide a basic introduction to incorporating the users experience into design: what it is, why it’s important, and how it can influence technical communicators work. We will discuss common methods for gathering user requirements, developing user personas, and using this data throughout the product development lifecycle. Case studies will provide insight into what works, what doesn’t, and practical tips for incorporating these methods into your own work.

Today, virtually every major brand includes social as a core part of their marketing mix, and most realize that counts of Likes and Followers are no longer an adequate metric for brand performance in social. Seeing this growing need for better brand insights, we set upon a journey to harness the massive amount of social activity between brands and their constituents.
Big data.
Measure, measure, measure. More and more, we hear about the importance of metrics. But what does that really mean? Join strategy consultants Sam Frank and Michele Levy for a practical discussion about the metrics that really matter for nonprofit organizations.

Enabling a Bimodal IT Framework for Advanced Analytics with Data VirtualizationDenodo
Watch: https://bit.ly/2FLc5I2
Being able to maintain a well managed and curated Data Warehouse, along with keeping up with all of the demands of a very sophisticated consumer group can be a challenge. The new user wants access to data, they want to experiment, fail fast and if they do find usable insights/algorithms they want them productionized. This puts pressure on an IT organization and pushes them closer to a Bimodal operation where the regular IT processes that are highly curated, well defined and managed contrast sharply with the demands of the more sophisticated user.
In the recently published TDWI Best Practices Report ,“Data Management for Advanced Analytics”, Philip Russom, DM for Advanced Analytics some of these newer requirements for the more sophisticated user are discussed in some length. How can IT support traditional demands around traditional BI and Reporting, whilst enabling the business with more demand for data and Advanced Analytics in mind?
Attend and learn:
- How data virtualization enables this Bi-Modal approach to Data Management.
- How data virtualization enables compelling use cases for data management and advanced analytics
- How we can achieve this important balance with process and technology.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

A tale of scale & speed: How the US Navy is enabling software delivery from l...sonjaschweigert1
Rapid and secure feature delivery is a goal across every application team and every branch of the DoD. The Navy’s DevSecOps platform, Party Barge, has achieved:
- Reduction in onboarding time from 5 weeks to 1 day
- Improved developer experience and productivity through actionable findings and reduction of false positives
- Maintenance of superior security standards and inherent policy enforcement with Authorization to Operate (ATO)
Development teams can ship efficiently and ensure applications are cyber ready for Navy Authorizing Officials (AOs). In this webinar, Sigma Defense and Anchore will give attendees a look behind the scenes and demo secure pipeline automation and security artifacts that speed up application ATO and time to production.
We will cover:
- How to remove silos in DevSecOps
- How to build efficient development pipeline roles and component templates
- How to deliver security artifacts that matter for ATO’s (SBOMs, vulnerability reports, and policy evidence)
- How to streamline operations with automated policy checks on container images

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

IT ALL BEGAN WITH ONE QUESTION….OR MORE
Who are we designing our products for?
Do we actually know our users as well as we think we do?
Do we start up projects on the right basis?
Do we need to start user research from scratch in every project? Do we have the time?
Can we perform smarter process wise?
Etc. etc….

HOW SHOULD THE USER RESEARCH BE COMMUNICATED?
Easy to find, easy to understand, easy the use, easy to communicate - easy to maintain
Digital database (website)? Hard copy (report)? Workshops/seminars (presentations)?
COMMUNICATION MEDIUM WILL AFFECT THE RESEARCH
WE ALL KNOW PERSONAS….

GN uses personas today! (product features comes first - then user needs)
