Significance Of The Globe Theatre
Elizabethan drama remains some of the most appreciated and world renowned to ever exist. Despite
its early foundation in the mid 16th century to early 17th century, plays from William Shakespeare,
Ben Jonson and Christopher Marlowe, almost five hundred years later are regularly produced and
performed to a modern audience. No dramatist, living or dead, has been more frequently reprinted or
performed, or translated into a greater variety of languages...Shakespeare in performance is now
reaching larger audiences than ever before in history . (S.Schoenbaum, 1979) One of the main reasons
for the longevity of Elizabethan theatrical success was the construction of The Globe Theatre in 1599.
With the construction of The Globe came notable improvements in special effects, costumes, makeup
and the size of audiences attending the performances.

The simplistic architecture throughout The Globe and its productions can be recognised as another
example of its lasting influence as this tradition remains within modern performances in the 1997
Globe and its own construction. Theatrical innovation was quite creative with regards to special
effects and sound. These were managed by using fireworks, drums, and even firing canons throughout
the dramas. When Shakespeare wrote plays, all the action took place on a small stage with little more
than a painted wall to suggest the setting. If a scene called for thunder, stagehands pounded a drum or
rippled sheet metal. If a scene required a ghost or a god, stagehands lowered him on a winch line or
sent him up through a trap door. A character wounded in a sword fight clapped a hand to his chest,
bursting a pouch beneath his shirt to release blood or a facsimile thereof . (Cummings,

How Endocrine System Works
How does the Endocrine system work? The function of the endocrine system is to regulate body
activities, similar to the nervous system in that they both regulate body activities. The difference is
that the nervous system uses electrical messengers to send signals to the body, and the endocrine
system uses chemical messengers hormones to make the changes to effect changes within the body.
The endocrine system work together with the nervous system to help control body function and
regulations, including metabolism, nutrition, elimination, temperature, fluid and electrolyte balance,
growth, and reproduction. The endocrine system in our body consists of a number of glands which
make, store, and release chemicals. There are a large number of endocrine glands in the human ...

Key components of the Endocrine System The major glands of the endocrine system are the
hypothalamus, pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenals, pineal body, and the reproductive organs
(ovaries and testes). The pancreas is also a part of this system. Hypothalamus gland is located in the
brain. The function of the hypothalamus is to regulate production of hormones in the anterior pituitary
gland. Hypothalamus produces releasing and inhibitory hormones. Pituitary gland located just below
the brain secretes a number of hormones. One of the hormones secreted by this gland is human growth
hormone, which controls the growth of the human body. It helps control the development of the bones
and muscles in the body, which explains why there are short people dwarf and tall people giant . When
the body does not produce enough GH the person remains short. On the other hand, when the body
produces too much GH the person becomes very tall. Thyroid gland is in the anterior neck, directly
below the crioid cartilage. Thyroid gland makes a hormone called thyroxin. The function of thyroxine

Analysis Of The Book American Way By Gary Althen
I was always interested in understand wf the american (capitalize proper nouns) culture. When I first
came here I noticed that americans are really independent and self reliant individuals, so for the
research I chose the topic American friendship so I could understand better what americans think
about friendship. According to the author of the book American Ways (written by Gary Althen with
Janet Bennet), americans do not like to feel dependent on someone or that someone become V
dependent on them. The author also said that americans have different groups of friends. Friends to go
to the movie, to study, and so on. For my research I interviewed 15 americans, namely 12 students of
the University of Arkansas and 3 older friends of mine (a couple and one other friend) that I met
because of a program of the UofA. The interviewees were between 20 and 50 years of age. Some of
the students I already knew and a few others was s/v random students. My survey had simple
questions that I though sp would be interesting to ask. Such as(P), what do they expect from a
friendship, what are they prepare VT to give for a friend and if they have any international friends.
Since I am a art international student and for me it has been a little hard to get to know them as a
friend, I thought about this last question. The interviewees seemed surprised when I asked about the
type (gender) of friends they had. Both male and female was he majority of art. responses (87%). Only

10 Christmas Movies that Won t Turn you Into a Grinch or Scrooge
Hundreds of Christmas movies have been made since the invention of motion pictures and are still
being made to this day. There are only a few that are considered Classics . What I consider classics are
the movies that families pull out every year to watch during the Christmas season. If you prefer more
recently made movies, there are many great movies that made it onto my list from the 90s and 2000s.
These are some of my favorite holiday movies that I watched every year since I could understand the
English language and that I still thoroughly enjoy today.
#10 A Christmas Carol (2009) This Disney animated movie is the newest version of the 1938 movie, A
Christmas Carol. The famous actor, Jim Carrey, voices Ebenezer Scrooge. Disney did a perfect job of
following the original storyline with Scrooge, the three ghosts, and all the other actors. This very
exciting film is also very popular in 3D. Because this film is directed by Robert Zemeckis, it is a
fantastic remake of an old, loved, holiday classic, yet some people still prefer the 1984 version.
#9 A Christmas Carol (1984) This Christmas movie is a version of Charles Dickens s famous 1800s
play and book, A Christmas Carol. This movie is one of the most accurate movies based on the play
and book, and never gets boring, because it of the action with all the ghosts. Because of this, I
consider this movie to be the original version although I know it

The Spiritual Revolution in America
I m spiritual but not religious. In today s society, it is a trendy phrase that many people often use to
describe their belief that they do not need to be affiliated with an organized religion in order to live a
faithful and fulfilling life. As life becomes more frenzied and chaotic, people assert that they do not
have the time to engage in organized religious activity and turn to a different alternative, one that can
be less limiting and narrow minded. While spirituality means something different to everyone, at its
core, spirituality provides our lives with context. It arrises from the connection one has with
themselves and one s search for meaning in life. Spirituality can take many different forms, such as
meditation and yoga, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And we provide them with a variety of options: Protestants, Catholic and a number of other choices.
The group that we call religiously unaffiliated consists of those who identify themselves as atheists,
along with those who describe themselves as agnostics. And then the single largest part of the
religiously unaffiliated are people who say their religion is just nothing in particular (NPR). Smith
also mentions how many of the people who say their religion is just nothing in particular are of a
younger generation. Even pop music singer Pink says, I love Native American spirituality and
paganism, and I ve studied Buddhism. I think organized religion is one of the top problems of the
world actually, so no, I d say I steer clear of religion and go straight towards spirituality (BBC). The
rise of this type of spirituality has been driven by a sense that religion is out of keeping with modern
values. People associate religious organizations with constraining doctrines that do not allow one to
think for themselves. Others also view religion as narrow minded and prejudicial, stifling the growth
of the human spirit. Or worse, some people contend that religion is the worst of all evils, responsible
for all the wars and conflicts around the world (the persecution of Jews, endless wars of religion,
religious intolerance that leads to terrorism...). Lastly, it would also be valid to say that

Introduction Of Natural Language Processing
INTRODUCTION TO NATURAL LANGUAGE PROCESSING
What is NLP?
Natural Language Processing can be defined as the use and ability of systems to process sentences in a
natural language such as English, instead of using a specialized artificial computer language such as
C, C++ etc. The systems used for NLP are a digital computer which is similarly resemble to
mainframe and personal computers. The digital computer systems in this fifth generation possesses
artificial intelligence technique and thus able to process natural languages. Natural language is a more
restricted subset of a human language; it cannot be thought of an actual language that possesses
ambiguities which computers could not sort out. Hence it is fair that Human Languages grant
aberration that natural language cannot grant. In a larger view; Natural Language Processing includes
signal processing or speech recognition, context reference issues and semantic analysis and
processing. Typical applications for Natural Language Processing include the following:
a) A good human computer interface that can translate from a natural language into a computer
language and vice versa. A natural language system can act as an interface to a database system. This
technology is very useful for the blind people; that with the help of speech recognition interact with
computers.
b) A basic necessity is for a translation program that could convert from one human vocal language to
another. This saves down the time for translation.

Causes Of The African Water Crisis
The average American uses about 176 gallons of water in one single day, while in Africa, 660 million
people see just one sip as a luxury, states Kristen Lewis in the article entitled THIRST for the 2016
Scholastic Scope. Without water, people cannot carry out daily activities and struggle to survive. The
water crisis in Africa is an expanding problem in our world that continues to affect millions of people
each day; fortunately, this crisis has caught the attention of The Water Project, a nonprofit organization
in the United States that raises money to solve water crises around the world. The Africa water crisis
has come about due to several factors that create negative outcomes for the citizens of Africa, but The
Water Project is doing all they can to resolve these issues. There are a variety of causes held
responsible for the water crisis in Africa. These causes have been taken from African s control and
desperately need to be solved. Climate change is one of the countless reasons that there is a high
demand for water in Africa. An article entitled Africa s Water Crisis Deepens written for the 2006
News Scientist, states that Drought, famine and spreading deserts have plagued Africa for the past 30
years. With the expansion of desertification, the process in which land becomes increasingly dry with
little to no water resources, areas of land have dried out and are useless to humans due to the lack of
rainfall on the African continent over the past several years.

Jesse Vs Agnus
Growing old is inevitable, it is something that everyone goes through, well unless you are the Tuck s.
The Tuck s some how lucked up and gained every lasting life, is it luck or is it a curse? That depends
on which Tuck you ask. There is no pain from growing old and no dying. Agnus, Mae, Miles, and
Jesse all have accepted their eternal life differently but, the two that differ the most are Agnus and
Jesse. Agnus has a difficult time dealing with the fact that he will never die, whereas Jesse has
embraced his longevity of life. You can t have living without dying. So you can t call it living, what
we got. We just are, we just be, like rocks beside the road. (Babbit, p. 64). Growth is a major part of
life and the Tuck s don t get to experience that anymore so Agnus feel s stuck. He wants to experience
getting old and dying because it is the cycle of life. He has watched people he knew die and how much
things have changed around him and he is envious of the ones that get to have that. According to
Zastrow, most elder adults reflect on their livesand conclude what was meaningful about it and with
that try to accept that their years left are limited (p 647). It seems that Agnus has already participated
in this idea of life review many times but, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jesse is a free spirit, he lives in the moment, just as many people in early adulthood. He also does not
stay in one place too long, constantly moving from job to job and not just because he does not want
anyone to know of the secret. Jesse s constant moving around is a great example of Peck s theory of
emotional flexibility (Zastrow, 2013, p. 470). Jesse s ability to easily shift emotional investments from
one activity to another, makes it easier for him to accept his eternal life. Another example of Jesse s
emotional flexibility is when he tells Winnie that they could get married and travel the world (Babbit,

The active chemical in coffee is caffeine, and too people coffee is used to increase the heart rate or
give people an increase in energy. The effect coffee has on people varies between people, the affect
one cup of coffee may have on one person wouldn t be enough to have an effect on another person.
Coffee has an effect on more than just the brain, caffeine also affects a person calcium level. Calcium
is good for a person s bones and teeth. Calcium is used tom send signals between neighbouring
molecules. Caffeine may trigger the plants to release a lot of calcium inside themselves and this could
have a major effect on the growth of a plant.

Freak The Mighty Kevin And Max Comparison
In the novel Freak The Mighty by Rodman Philbrick Max and Freak, two very different people,
become friends over the course of the book solving many problems a long the way. Max and Kevin
are both very similar but also quite different. They have similar problems in there life s but handle
them differently. Such as there family problems and disabilities. One of the similarities that these two
characters share is that they both have disabilities that make life harder for them. Kevin, or Freak has a
physical disability called Morquio. This disability causes many problems for Kevin including a
misshapen spine and knock knees which make it hard for Kevin to move around. On the other hand
Max has a mental disorder called dyslexia. Dyslexia causes Max to ... Show more content on

Another similarity with them both is that they are quite sensitive in the topic of there fathers. Kevin s
father left him at a very young age so he is a little less sensitive then Max who had been emotionally
scared by his father. On page 71 Loretta said He must be a magician, because as soon as he heard the
magic words birth defect, he disappeared. This is why Freak isn t as sad or scared because his father
left him. Max on the other hand saw his own father choke his mother to death. Max and Freak are also
very different with the ways that they deal with problems and more. Freak looks past his disability and
tries to enjoy life to the fullest, but Max lets his disability get in his way. Max keeps saying that he is
stupid or dumb and that he cant do anything. There is also a difference in the way they act. Freak is
brave and doesn t care much for the consequences if what he s doing is right. Max though is cowardly
and no mater wether it is right he still wouldn t stand up for himself or others. One of the times that
Max acted cowardly was in the beginning( chapter 6) when Tony D. came to the 4th of July party.
Max wanted to get away as quick as possible but Freak talked back to him. This is an example of

Research Paper On Calendar Spread Strategies
Spread trading is a trading strategy which trades on the spread between the two contracts. The
contracts can be for the same or different commodity, same or different contract maturity, and same or
different exchanges cite[pp.~1 24]{schap2005complete}. A calendar spread is one of these spread
strategies where the investor utilises the spread between the two contracts with a different delivery
date, but the same underlying commodity. The performance of the calendar spread strategy is
compared with the long future contract and spot position strategies. The commodity benchmark index
is also introduced which provides the comparison of the performance of the three strategies against the
commodity index.
subsubsection{Calendar Spreads}
A calendar spread or the intra market spread is a portfolio strategy where two future contracts are
simultaneously bought and sold for the same asset, but with different expiration dates cite[pp.~63 77]

The contract one is defined as the contract for the commodity for the earliest delivery date. The

four. The Spread(3,1) is constructed by selling the contract one and buying the contract three. It is

investor sold the nearby future contract and bought the deferred future contract of the same

How The Environment Affects A Person And Many Places
Places have a lot of significance tied to them depending on what they mean to people. The place that I
am going to talk about in this paper reminds me of a peaceful place, because it has provided me with
comfort and has allowed me to grow within this calm place. Oxford Dictionary defines place as A
building or area used for a specified purpose or activity: the town has many excellent eating places .
Specific memories link with certain places that individuals go to, and have had them shape them into
who they are, or have guided them into having a better understanding with what brings them peace. It
has been shown that places actually do bring a certain emotion or feeling onto a person, almost like an
extra sense. Modern science is confirming that people s thoughts, feelings and actions are indeed
shaped not by just their genes and neurochemistry, history and relationships but also by their
surroundings. How the environment affects a person and several places that are considered by some
cultures to be sacred and discussed. (Gallagher, 1993, p. 62)
A place that has an importance to me is the park behind Parkwood hospital. It has a field with
beautiful flowers that you can admire all day long, and there are also walkways with a tiny waterfall
followed with a couple of benches to be able to sit down and admire the scenery. On the other side of
it, there are picnic tables and areas for families to come together and spend time with each other while

Machiavellian Folly in The Prince Essay
Machiavellian Folly in The Prince
In the annals of history, many individuals have contributed great works of literature, waxing
philosophically on the meaning of life, death, and love. Niccolo Machiavelli wrote not on love or life,
but on power: How to capture it, how to consolidate it, and how to defend it against all comers. His
work has been talked about and dissected to the extent that his subject matter and methods have
earned their own moniker: Machiavellian. Nonetheless, this great philosopher s works did not meet
with unanimous approval. His own student, Thomas Hobbes, presented a very different account of
politics. This essay offers a Hobbesian critique of some of Machiavelli s arguments, focusing in and

2 Humans, according to Machiavelli, are not the morally grounded beings the Bible espouses them to
be. He writes in The Prince: For one can say this generally of men: that they are ungrateful, fickle,
pretenders and dissemblers, evaders of danger, eager for gain.3 Clearly, Machiavelli argues that man is
precarious a being of dubious morals and selfish desires. Hobbes agreed with this analysis, and took it
one step further. According to Hobbes, all mankind has a restless and perpetual desire for power,
which ceaseth only with death 4. Moreover, man can never be satisfied with the power he has. Hobbes
writes:
... [man] cannot assure the power and the means to live well, which he hath present, without the
acquisition of more [power].
Man s first need is to provide security for himself. Past experience and reason dictate that he will do
this by any means necessary even if it means killing everyone around him. Critics argue that Hobbes
and Machiavelli are too pessimistic; but they would both beg to differ. To both Hobbes and
Machiavelli, Aristotelian virtue is a deception; it can never be reached. Men do not want to be good;
they want to lie, they want to cheat, and they want to kill. To expect otherwise would be contrary to
their hostile nature. To both Hobbes and Machiavelli, political analysis must begin by identifying the
human being for what he really is a self interested, self seeking

Finny tells Gene he once had aspirations to go to the Olympics, and Gene agrees to train for the 1944

The Wife s Story Ursula K. Le Guin s purpose in The Wife s Story is to demonstrate that no one is as

foreshadowing through the narrator s eyes. By contrasting the husband being a good husband and one
who was nice with his family with him acting unusual by not wanting to talk about it and turning into
the hateful one, Le Guin illustrates the husband acting secretive and not as open as he used to be with

We re all Australian now poem analysis
Good morning/Good afternoon boys and girls aboriginal elders and Mrs. Brown
Andrew Barton Banjo Paterson (17 February 1864 5 February 1941) was an Australian bush poet,
journalist and author. He wrote many ballads and poems about Australian life, focusing particularly on
the rural and outback areas, including the district around Bin along, New South Wales, where he spent
much of his childhood. Banjo Paterson s, We re all Australians now was published in 1915. His largely
optimistic and patriotic poem inspires readers of the Australian community to embrace unity.

This change of pronouns gives a sense of the other , a separate entity. Through this otherness, he
betrays a feeling of superiority. His sometime overuse of victorious terminology shows complete
silencing of the actual circumstances of the war, which then sounds slightly superficial, therefore
betraying superiority.
Paterson s other purpose of this text is to promote nationalism amongst Australian men, persuading
them to enlist. He deliberately emphasises on how everyone in Australia is an Australian, through this
line English, Scotch, and Irish bred, They re all Australians now! This would make everyone at the
time feel obliged to join.
His victorious tone also conveys also conveys the glory and honour that accompanies being a soldier.
The actual hardships of the war which would dissuade enlisting if mentioned, is deliberately silenced
by Paterson.
The careful choices of literary devices Paterson had successfully conveyed his underlying purpose to
the reader. This text also paints a picture of the mood of one of the facets of Australians in the war
which is the main focus of this poem.

Archeological Structures
There are thousands of archeological sites around the world and today the world gets one more. My
team and I are positing the existence of a diminutive form of Homo sapiens and their spiritual beliefs.
We are examining the architecture of two structures that are present at this site and try to reveal the
secrets of the past. We will also discuss additional analytical methods that would help interpret the site
and reflect on the challenges that exist when interpreting the past. While working with a team in the
Pacific, off the coast of Tahiti, we received a lead of a possible location for a dig on the island of
Oahu. The information stated that a farmer found a roof of a very old structure, which could be

Savings Account Proposal
Overview A client at age seventy to seventy five, although they do not necessarily worry about how
much time they have left still have some life left that they must consider. Someone at this age range
would typically already have a family and might also have grandkids as well. Also for someone in
their declining years they would possibly already be in retirement and be in a steady place to retire.
Although our client has been settled in there life style there are still certain risk that they can still face.
One of the bigger risk they might face is running out of retirement money because they didn t
financially prepare themselves. One thing they can t really prepare for is the need for having medicine
at the old age for their health. Along with this, another risk they can have is just getting bored ... Show

This once again would be great for our client because this financial product holds very little risk to
him. The only thing our client will have to worry about how much coverage he will be getting while
his money is in here. If he goes to a bank that is FDIC insured his money will be safe all the way up to
25,000 dollars, and even if he were to go over he can simply just move the excess money into a new
account so there is no risk. Although this does not offer as much interest as a CD it can still make
money while just sitting in the bank which is better than not making any at all. The bonus to having a
savings is hoe liquid these accounts are. The money can be acquired at any point and time especially if
he gets a debit card which will pull money straight from his account. This would come in handy if
there was ever an emergency and the money needed to be taken out at a time that they were not
expecting. This is helpful going with our client because he is in declining health and can get certain
illnesses and other issues where money will be needed to get that money out as quickly as possible to

Socratic Method Of Teaching And Study Philosophy
1. Explain some of the benefits a student may gain by studying philosophy.
Some of the benefits a student gains by studying philosophy is having the ability to gain knowledge
and think more clearly. You learn skills, seek wisdom and get an understanding of our world through
various branches. Helps us appreciate where the world came from, where we came from. Using our
critical thinking we evaluate information and reach a conclusion due to the analyzation. We learn
ethics, what is real, how others see things. We gain cognitive, moral and spiritual development by
studying philosophy.
2. Explain the Socratic Method of Teaching. Is this a useful way for students to learn?
Socratic Method is a way of thinking that involves three steps, first step is you give an initial
definition, second step you find exceptions to that definition and you present them in a form of
question. Then the third step you give a better definition of the concept. Repeat all these steps until
you discover the essence of the concept. Socratic method has its pros and cons not every student
learns the same way it might be a good method for one student or might be easier for one but not for
the other. Everyone is unique and different.
3. Explain how critical thinking can be used to analyze a philosophical issue.
Critical thinking is about making sure that you have good reasons for your beliefs.
Critical thinking is used by reasoning and examining the information given to her person to analyze a

Operation Eagle Claw, And It Was A Failure
November 4th 1979American personnel at the US embassy are taken hostage in Teheran, Iran. The
United States had never faced a hostage situation like this before. It did not have the Joint Special
Operations Task Force trained in planning the mission or the resources for low visibility clandestine
missions. The mission to save the hostages is called Operation Eagle Claw, and it was a failure. This
mission on the other hand highlighted areas in the military that need tobe improved, and when the
country required to carry out special operation missions in the future those resources would be there
and ready.
Militant student, followers of the Ayatollah stormed the Embassy and took all personnel hostage. This
was the second time in 1979 the embassy was taken and only a few people remained behind its gates.
The students only planned to take the hostages for a few days, hopping that the United States would
return the ousted Shah, to face trial. When the US refused, to return the Shah, the stalemate began, and
the students held the hostages for 444 days.
The US realized that the hostages are not being released as before, and a rescue mission was needed to
secure their freedom. A group was quickly put together to plan the rescue. Dubbed Operation Rice

intelligence. The officers of the planning, operations ensured that every branch of the military would

Essay about Scotch-Irish Cultural History
1. The Scotch Irish were staunch libertarians, and acted upon their feelings. Sex ways and dress ways
had close ties to each other in the backcountry. To talk about sex and sexual behavior was also
acceptable in this culture. The dress women and men wore was meant to arouse the opposite sex.
Anglican missionary Charles Woodmason wrote, They draw their shift as tight as possible round their
Breasts, and slender waists (for they are generally very finely shaped) and draw their Petticoat close t
their Hips to show the fineness of their limbs ... indeed nakedness is not censurable without ceremony.

In contrast to boys, girls were taught to be self denying, and to be helpers to men. Corporal
Punishment of children was even condemned even though practiced in the home. Even though there
were many questions to be asked before some could marry, Quakers did believe in love before
marriage. They believed that love should be pure and not tainted by the craving of flesh. To marry,
couples needed permission from their families and community. Unlike in Virginia, Quakers forbade
first cousin marriages, and discouraged marriages between second cousins. In Quaker households, it
was more of a partnership between the husband and wife than in those of Massachusetts and Virginia.
In the Delaware Valley children spoke of their father and mother s house.
The Quakers had a saying: In souls there is no sex. This meant in their culture, men and women were
equal. Unlike Puritan culture, women could preach to men and women, and in a public setting. That
same quote went for sexual relations in marriages. Sex in Quaker culture was looked upon as just for
the purpose of conception of children. To do otherwise was looked at as fornication. To have sex just
for pleasure was also fornication. Even married couples would restrain from having sex with each
other if the woman was not in time to get pregnant. Married couple also occupied not only single beds
but slept in separate rooms. Quakers

communities of Northeast Indiana should battle the zebra mussels because they are destroying the

start with, the zebra mussels are destroying the ecosystem. As it says in the National Wildlife

In the King County site they say, zebra mussels cause far reaching damage to water structures, they

harmless the zebra mussels are breaking and destroying every manmade object they can find. Since
they have their tentacles that can stick to things very well, when they come off the structure they are
taking pieces off of the structure with them. The zebra mussels need to attach to a hard surface, so
they are attaching to boats, motors, pipes, etc... They are breaking those objects piece by piece and if
we don t stop them now our objects will be ruined or destroyed. Finally the zebra mussels are

Multicultural Psychology Multicultural psychology is something that is relevant in this day and age.
Today, with a vast number of people of different minority attachments living together, the idea of
multicultural psychology is a good thing. Multicultural psychology is a discipline that is closely
related to cross cultural psychology and in fact is difficult to make that distinction ( Weiner,
Freedheim, Schinka, Gallagher, 2003). Multicultural psychology focuses on individuals with ethnic or

What are the problems that their children face? Someone who is a product of a mixed marriage may
struggle with his or her own racial or ethnic identity. The importance of such matters are all too often
minimized by traditional psychology. Further, the society is more and more diverse than ever before.
With people coming together from different nations, and different cultures, there is a need to address
different patterns of behavior and attitudes that exist amongst these groups. Again, the danger of
stereotyping is certainly there, but ignoring differences is to ignore very pertinent information.
Multicultural psychology can help in many areas of society, inclusive of counseling, but also in a
business environment. Because of the unique nature of multicultural psychology, it should exist as a
subspecialty of psychology. Multicultural psychology enhances the positives of all cultures and the
importance of diversity, it accepts the uniqueness of others based on race, religion, sex, and age.
Single parenting needs to be included as well under the umbrella of multicultural psychology. Even if
many single parents take all the appropriate actions for a total well being, some cannot perform in
high levels or maintain all their responsibilities. To minimize incidents of child problems like school
dropouts, early pregnancy and juvenile behavior, a single parent must learn to communicate well with
the children. Knowing and

profile of a growth investor. I am a motivated individual who seizes opportunities as they present
themselves. Opportunities may not always be rewarding, but I am someone who is willing to take that
risk while others are in doubt. For this reason, I believe that I have a relatively high level of risk
tolerance. Many would say that risk is a double edged sword, but I see risks as opportunities with very
rewarding potential returns. It is true that the higher the potential return, the higher the potential loss.
However, I believe that with exceptional knowledge and wise decision making, risk can be reduced to
a minimal amount in which case, it will act to your benefit. I would not require regular income from
my investments as I am more inclined to maximize my capital appreciation. I believe that the regular
income would be much more rewarding if it was reinvested with a worthwhile investment strategy to

Role Of Organisms On A Tropical Ecosystem
Part B The Role of Organisms
A producer in a tropical ecosystem is the plants and trees. A primary consumer in a tropical ecosystem
is a squirrel. A secondary consumer in a tropical ecosystem is a jack rabbit. A tertiary consumer in a
tropical ecosystem is a mountain lion. A decomposer in a tropical ecosystem is mushrooms, fungi and

The predator is the Mountain Lion. The prey is the deer. So the predator and prey relationship is
between the mountain lion and the deer. The predator which is the mountain lion hunts for the deer to
survive and feed off. The mountain lion is a carnivore and is one of the few at the top of this tropical

only 52 instructions where the Motorola had 72 available for an assembler. Other than that specs

Marina Keegan s Essay Why We Care About Whales
Even though Singer uses speciesism to explain the lack of empathy towards animals, a
counterargument to his theory exists in Marina Keegan s essay Why We Care About Whales. Keegan
points out that a tremendous amount of money goes towards the rescue of beached whales when it
could go towards helping humanity and other more dire issues. The question becomes whether or not
our inability to stop the mass consumption of meat is actually because speciesism makes it so we don t
care about the rights or lives of other animals, or is there another piece to the puzzle? Keegan argues
that we care tremendously, In theory [Keegan] can say that our resources should be concentrated on

This is why Singer contributed so strongly into the animal rights movement, he wanted to educate
people so they would hopefully fall into the avoidance category. Johnson states that Animal Liberation
is one of those rare books that demand that you either defend the way you live, or change it because it
does educate people on the brutal conditions that animals deal with in order to be meat on the plates of
billions of people (898). Although reality is that the odds that everyone who reads Singer s argument
will be persuaded to switch to a plant based diet is slim because most are too accustomed to it. Again,
It would be like teaching an old dog new tricks. Johnson even goes as far to mention how thousands,
convinced by Singer and the like, become vegetarians for moral reasons. And then most of those
thousands start eating meat again (898). However, this isn t the individual s fault necessarily. How
realistic it is to adhere to a plant based diet when the resources can be so limited? Often the cheapest
high quality protein available to the poor comes from animals, and then we must wonder is we should
let people starve for the sake of animals (899). The answer is a bitter yes in

Sculptor, Eugene Warburg started his artistic career as a marble cutter, which is a commonality that he

From this small excerpt, Stovall s work shows that Paris accepted people regardless of their color,
race, and ethnicity. In other words, Paris held its doors open for young African American artists, so
they may expand and share their creativity with the rest of France; black creativity was showing all

they may obtain personal experience and literary attributes. As for painters and sculptors, they came to
Paris for its reputation of being the center of art; they spent time in the city s ateliers (Stovall, 2012).
Even for athletes, many traveled here because it is one of the few opportunities that were also

racism from the big picture. Another reason that made Paris a safe haven is that African Americans did

Battle Of San Jacinto Case Study
Strategic Setting Depending on the perspective, the strategic factors of the Battle of San Jacinto were
either to re align Texas with the Mexican government, as it had pulled away in rebellion due to Anglo
interference from the U.S. (Pedro, 1921). A second perspective of the strategic factor of the Battle of
San Jacinto had to do with Texans, in particular Anglo Texans from the Southern U.S., wanting to
extend the influence of slavery over the region, intentionally flaunting and ignoring Mexico s anti
slavery polices (Tindall and Shi, 2013). A third perspective, offered by Anderson and Wooster (2016)
is that strategically the Battle of San Jacinto was the result of tyrannical oversight and behaviors by
Santa Anna and the Mexican government over Texas. It should be noted that the strategic factors listed

  • 2. Significance Of The Globe Theatre Elizabethan drama remains some of the most appreciated and world renowned to ever exist. Despite its early foundation in the mid 16th century to early 17th century, plays from William Shakespeare, Ben Jonson and Christopher Marlowe, almost five hundred years later are regularly produced and performed to a modern audience. No dramatist, living or dead, has been more frequently reprinted or performed, or translated into a greater variety of languages...Shakespeare in performance is now reaching larger audiences than ever before in history . (S.Schoenbaum, 1979) One of the main reasons for the longevity of Elizabethan theatrical success was the construction of The Globe Theatre in 1599. With the construction of The Globe came notable improvements in special effects, costumes, makeup and the size of audiences attending the performances. The ... The simplistic architecture throughout The Globe and its productions can be recognised as another example of its lasting influence as this tradition remains within modern performances in the 1997 Globe and its own construction. Theatrical innovation was quite creative with regards to special effects and sound. These were managed by using fireworks, drums, and even firing canons throughout the dramas. When Shakespeare wrote plays, all the action took place on a small stage with little more than a painted wall to suggest the setting. If a scene called for thunder, stagehands pounded a drum or rippled sheet metal. If a scene required a ghost or a god, stagehands lowered him on a winch line or sent him up through a trap door. A character wounded in a sword fight clapped a hand to his chest, bursting a pouch beneath his shirt to release blood or a facsimile thereof . (Cummings, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Key components of the Endocrine System The major glands of the endocrine system are the hypothalamus, pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenals, pineal body, and the reproductive organs (ovaries and testes). The pancreas is also a part of this system. Hypothalamus gland is located in the brain. The function of the hypothalamus is to regulate production of hormones in the anterior pituitary gland. Hypothalamus produces releasing and inhibitory hormones. Pituitary gland located just below the brain secretes a number of hormones. One of the hormones secreted by this gland is human growth hormone, which controls the growth of the human body. It helps control the development of the bones and muscles in the body, which explains why there are short people dwarf and tall people giant . • 4. Analysis Of The Book American Way By Gary Althen I was always interested in understand wf the american (capitalize proper nouns) culture. When I first came here I noticed that americans are really independent and self reliant individuals, so for the research I chose the topic American friendship so I could understand better what americans think about friendship. According to the author of the book American Ways (written by Gary Althen with Janet Bennet), americans do not like to feel dependent on someone or that someone become V dependent on them. The author also said that americans have different groups of friends. Friends to go to the movie, to study, and so on. There are only a few that are considered Classics . What I consider classics are the movies that families pull out every year to watch during the Christmas season. If you prefer more recently made movies, there are many great movies that made it onto my list from the 90s and 2000s. These are some of my favorite holiday movies that I watched every year since I could understand the English language and that I still thoroughly enjoy today. #10 A Christmas Carol (2009) This Disney animated movie is the newest version of the 1938 movie, A Christmas Carol. The famous actor, Jim Carrey, voices Ebenezer Scrooge. Disney did a perfect job of following the original storyline with Scrooge, the three ghosts, and all the other actors. This very exciting film is also very popular in 3D. Because this film is directed by Robert Zemeckis, it is a fantastic remake of an old, loved, holiday classic, yet some people still prefer the 1984 version. #9 A Christmas Carol (1984) This Christmas movie is a version of Charles Dickens s famous 1800s play and book, A Christmas Carol. This movie is one of the most accurate movies based on the play and book, and never gets boring, because it of the action with all the ghosts. Because of this, I consider this movie to be the original version although I know it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In today s society, it is a trendy phrase that many people often use to describe their belief that they do not need to be affiliated with an organized religion in order to live a faithful and fulfilling life. As life becomes more frenzied and chaotic, people assert that they do not have the time to engage in organized religious activity and turn to a different alternative, one that can be less limiting and narrow minded. While spirituality means something different to everyone, at its core, spirituality provides our lives with context. It arrises from the connection one has with themselves and one s search for meaning in life. Spirituality can take many different forms, such as meditation and yoga, ... The group that we call religiously unaffiliated consists of those who identify themselves as atheists, along with those who describe themselves as agnostics. Smith also mentions how many of the people who say their religion is just nothing in particular are of a younger generation. Even pop music singer Pink says, I love Native American spirituality and paganism, and I ve studied Buddhism. I think organized religion is one of the top problems of the world actually, so no, I d say I steer clear of religion and go straight towards spirituality (BBC). The rise of this type of spirituality has been driven by a sense that religion is out of keeping with modern values. People associate religious organizations with constraining doctrines that do not allow one to think for themselves. Others also view religion as narrow minded and prejudicial, stifling the growth of the human spirit. Or worse, some people contend that religion is the worst of all evils, responsible for all the wars and conflicts around the world (the persecution of Jews, endless wars of religion, religious intolerance that leads to terrorism...). The place that I am going to talk about in this paper reminds me of a peaceful place, because it has provided me with comfort and has allowed me to grow within this calm place. Oxford Dictionary defines place as A building or area used for a specified purpose or activity: the town has many excellent eating places . Specific memories link with certain places that individuals go to, and have had them shape them into who they are, or have guided them into having a better understanding with what brings them peace. It has been shown that places actually do bring a certain emotion or feeling onto a person, almost like an extra sense. He writes in The Prince: For one can say this generally of men: that they are ungrateful, fickle, pretenders and dissemblers, evaders of danger, eager for gain.3 Clearly, Machiavelli argues that man is precarious a being of dubious morals and selfish desires. Hobbes agreed with this analysis, and took it one step further. According to Hobbes, all mankind has a restless and perpetual desire for power, which ceaseth only with death 4. Moreover, man can never be satisfied with the power he has. Hobbes writes: ... [man] cannot assure the power and the means to live well, which he hath present, without the acquisition of more [power]. Man s first need is to provide security for himself. Past experience and reason dictate that he will do this by any means necessary even if it means killing everyone around him. Critics argue that Hobbes and Machiavelli are too pessimistic; but they would both beg to differ. To both Hobbes and Machiavelli, Aristotelian virtue is a deception; it can never be reached. If he goes to a bank that is FDIC insured his money will be safe all the way up to 25,000 dollars, and even if he were to go over he can simply just move the excess money into a new account so there is no risk. Although this does not offer as much interest as a CD it can still make money while just sitting in the bank which is better than not making any at all. The bonus to having a savings is hoe liquid these accounts are. The money can be acquired at any point and time especially if he gets a debit card which will pull money straight from his account. This would come in handy if there was ever an emergency and the money needed to be taken out at a time that they were not expecting. You learn skills, seek wisdom and get an understanding of our world through various branches. Helps us appreciate where the world came from, where we came from. Using our critical thinking we evaluate information and reach a conclusion due to the analyzation. We learn ethics, what is real, how others see things. We gain cognitive, moral and spiritual development by studying philosophy. 2. Explain the Socratic Method of Teaching. Is this a useful way for students to learn? Socratic Method is a way of thinking that involves three steps, first step is you give an initial definition, second step you find exceptions to that definition and you present them in a form of question. Then the third step you give a better definition of the concept. Repeat all these steps until you discover the essence of the concept. Socratic method has its pros and cons not every student learns the same way it might be a good method for one student or might be easier for one but not for the other. Everyone is unique and different. 3. Explain how critical thinking can be used to analyze a philosophical issue. Critical thinking is about making sure that you have good reasons for your beliefs. Sex ways and dress ways had close ties to each other in the backcountry. To talk about sex and sexual behavior was also acceptable in this culture. To marry, couples needed permission from their families and community. Unlike in Virginia, Quakers forbade first cousin marriages, and discouraged marriages between second cousins. In Quaker households, it was more of a partnership between the husband and wife than in those of Massachusetts and Virginia. In the Delaware Valley children spoke of their father and mother s house. The Quakers had a saying: In souls there is no sex. This meant in their culture, men and women were equal. Unlike Puritan culture, women could preach to men and women, and in a public setting. That same quote went for sexual relations in marriages. Sex in Quaker culture was looked upon as just for the purpose of conception of children. To do otherwise was looked at as fornication. To have sex just for pleasure was also fornication. Even married couples would restrain from having sex with each other if the woman was not in time to get pregnant. A second perspective of the strategic factor of the Battle of San Jacinto had to do with Texans, in particular Anglo Texans from the Southern U.S., wanting to extend the influence of slavery over the region, intentionally flaunting and ignoring Mexico s anti slavery polices (Tindall and Shi, 2013). A third perspective, offered by Anderson and Wooster (2016) is that strategically the Battle of San Jacinto was the result of tyrannical oversight and behaviors by Santa Anna and the Mexican government over Texas.
