Vampire Vs. Vampire Family
Today, vampire is the hottest topic in novels, movies, and dramas around the world. Belief in vampires
has existed for thousands of year in many different cultures around the world. In original folklore and
mythology, the traditional vampires tend to be inhuman and have no soul. They are truly
monstrosities. They feed human?s blood in the midnight and enjoy killing people. Today?s outlook on
vampires is more positive. Some modern vampires are very human and beautiful creatures. They often
drink animal blood. They also regret what their clan has done in the past. They do not want to harm
human. For example, the best novel Twilight represents new perspectives on the vampires. Thought a
novel, the vampire family are really nice. They do not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A few centuries ago, vampires drank human blood and spread plague flourished in time of disease in
Eastern Europe. In 19 century, some Europeans who did not understand about disease thought that
people who had serious illness became first vampire in their family (Eldridge.) Therefore, Europe
people think that vampires usually attack their friends or family member. Following to Barber?s
perspective, ?European folklore believed in the spirit of a dead person that return after death to haunt
the living, in the form as vampire, was always the first person to die in the family? (Barber 827). In
Chinese culture, vampires are living deaths that absorb energy from the moon, called Jiang Shi (Image
1). They usually hop or pop around to catch unsuspecting victims. They do not feed human blood, but
they are controlled by bad priest to attack people and villages. In short, vampires have more strength
than normal human beings, and they are undead. They always harm or otherwise kill people. Authors,
Lindahl, Mcnamara, and Lindow, define a vampire ?is a revenant, reanimated corpse, or phantom of
the recently deceased, which maintain its former, living appearance when it comes out of the grave at
night to drink the blood of human? (Lindahl 424). In the Vampire book in 1998, Jocob Grimm states
another definition vampires as ?dead men come back, who suck blood? (Dundes 161). In other words,
traditional vampires are believed as killer that feeds on the blood of the

Girlfight
Girlfight Overcoming Gender Stereotypes
It goes without saying that a person s gender, racial and social origins influence their participation in
sports. Particular races and genders often dominate certain sports. African Americans, for example,
tend to dominate football and basketball, while Caucasians tend to dominate ice hockey. The same
holds true for gender as well. Football is an entirely male dominated sport, while horseback riding,
gymnastics and figure skating are much more female oriented. How and why did these divisions come
about? Determining the origin of gender goes beyond the scope of this paper, however one can
speculate about how gender classifications and stereotypes affect one s role in the sports arena.

Tiny is not just a clever name, he has a small build, is academically inclined and hopes to pursue art.
He has no interest whatsoever in learning boxing. Diana, on the other hand, has a large, sturdy build,
and a hot temper. It is Diana that defends her brother when another boxer takes advantage of him in
the ring.
Diana s relationship with Adrian is another form of tension between gender stereotypes in the film.
Boxing is traditionally a sport where men prove their manhood. They prove that they are categorically
the alpha male by defeating their opponents. Therefore, to have a woman, who should traditionally be
submissive and dutiful, step up to the ring turns everything that boxing stands for upside down. Much
of the movie centers on the conflicts that develop within their relationship because of this paradox. At
first it seems that Adrian is completely open to Diana s boxing. However his true beliefs are
challenged when he and Diana are forces to fight one another. Adrian has to struggle with his own
definitions of masculinity and femininity before he can come to terms not only with Diana s boxing
him, but also beating him.
In effect, Diana defies everything that is traditionally identified as male and female. In the end it is not
clear what happens to Diana; whether her relationship with Adrian is successful or whether her father
can finally accept Diana s boxing. However one still comes away from the movie feeling that she has
accomplished

Expressionism In Edvard Munch s The Scream
Looking like a scene out of a horror movie, The Scream is one of the most famous Expressionist
paintings in the world. During the end of the nineteenth century, Expressionism arose as an art
movement, wherein poets and artists began to use their works to express their inner feelings and
emotions (Wolf). One of the influential expressionists at that period was Edvard Munch, who was a
Norwegian artist and who painted The Scream in four distinct versions, from tempera to pastel to
crayon (Shabi). After this painting was released, it immediately caught people s attention because
Munch used exaggerated colors and simple shapes, which was not common at that time, to portray the
skull like faced individual and the landscape. In addition, the painting provoked questions regarding
the inspiration of Munch because the great masses were curious to know the hidden messages behind
the painting. Therefore, if the audiences examine The Scream closely, they will notice Munch had
utilized various art techniques to demonstrate his painting as a form of therapy that can appeal to the
audiences emotions, logic, and sense of credibility. Munch used many straight and curved lines to
make appeals to the audiences emotions in his painting. With the use of different lines, Munch has
successfully moved his audiences attention to the skull like faced individual. In his painting, the sex of
the skull like faced individual is vague because one cannot determine based on his or her appearance

Learning Responsibility On City Sidewalks By Jane Jacobs
Learning Responsibility on City Sidewalks
In the essay Learning Responsibility on City Sidewalks , the author Jane Jacobs shows us that it is
important to let children interact with city sidewalks because they can learn lots of things there. On the
other hand, the author also argues that it is necessary to select appropriate public areas because not all
the public areas can give children advantage lessons. Based on author s observations, some parents
will allow their children play in parks so they are convenient to take care of children and save money
for hiring daycare. However, it is not useful for children to learn in this environment. For example,
children will not learn independent under parent s supervision. Combing all the factors, ... Show more

According to the essay Nature Through the Looking Glass , the author believes that people should be
part of nature, but most of the time people do not have real touch activity of nature. Under the strong
competition society, it is not easy for a normal worker to go outside and interact with the nature. Those
green plants on two sides of the city sidewalk is one of the chances for people to get touch to nature.
More importantly, walking in the city sidewalks is easier than having a travel, which can satisfy most
of the city people s working requirement . Also, nature world will bring quiet life for people I always
ask myself, if I can live without business area, after reading the essay The Forged City . And I get a
response, which is people need to get out of business activities and come back to nature even a short
time in each day. Without interest relationship, people s life will become simple and pure. Shopping
malls cannot replace traditional city centers because people have large limitations in business malls. In
contrast, people can observe different levels people in the society with equality ideas in traditional city
centers. City sidewalks can fit for this requirement and provide a comfortable area for all of us. When

Disruptive Behavior Examples
Disruptive behavior
The Ontario College of Physicians and surgeons defined the disruptive behavior as inappropriate
conduct, whether in words or action, that interferes with, or has the potential to interfere with, quality
health care delivery. Disruptive doctors, nurses and most of healthcare employees are found in almost
all hospitals and clinics. Although most observers noticed that only 6% of physicians fall into this
category, the influence of this small percent far outweighs their percentage. Examples of disruptive
behavior are various and includes, shouting, verbal threat, angry outbursts ,throwing objects, breaking
things, unwanted physical contact of a sexual behavior , swearing or any physical act that would be

The factors are either endogenous related to the individual or exogenous related to the work
environment. Certain personalities are associated with disrespectful behavior. Self esteem is extremely
important to doctors as it is very related to doctors` perception of their own reputation and
competence. The reason for this is doctors usually spend a huge amount of time and energy to achieve
a great success and reputation so they become more sensitive to anything that may endanger their self
esteem or success. Doctors might react with aggressive personal behavior, if anyone directly or
indirectly tries to touch their self esteem, as a way to confirm their professional dominance. They
could feel insecurity and anxiety especially if they felt that they are prone to challenges of practicing
medicine. Doctors or any healthcare professionals who do not feel confident about their skills may
reflect this anxiety to the coworkers around him in terms of blaming others or making hypercritical
comments. In fact they might overreact blaming themselves for real or unreal inadequacy,
hypercriticize themselves or others. The huge amount of energy and time doctors spend to succeed
professionally make physicians self involved and become vulnerable to narcissistic character traits. In
fact medical narcissism is term used to reflect feeling of being superior and perfectionism are usually
found in healthcare professionals. They believes that their ideas are special. Due to the acceptance of
the teamwork value , this makes physician frustrated and exhibit more disruptive

Benefits Of The Coffee Drink Coffee
Did you know that worldwide over half a trillion cups of coffee are consumed each year and that water
is the only beverage that is drank more often? How about that half a billion cups are drank each day in
the United States alone? That totals over one hundred and fifty billion cups per year (RandomFacts 1)!
Most likely a very small percentage know these facts off hand. Even after being an avid coffee drinker
myself for many years this is news to me as well. Just take a moment to think about how many people
you see each day with a cup of coffee in their hands. It s probably a lot considering the fact that an
estimated four out of five people drink coffee before starting their day (RandomFacts 1). The coffee
industry is worldwide, which increases the well being of a substantial amount of individuals by
providing many job opportunities. This not only increases the well being of the workers, but for their
families as well. When considering health, one must consider not just physical health but mental
health as well. If people didn t drink coffee it would cause a decreased well being to the workers in the
coffee industry all over the world. There is a possibility you might even know someone that works in
the coffee industry, which is why for these individuals to keep their jobs coffee must be consumed. I m
sure either you drink coffee yourself or know someone who does, so knowing how it effects your
health, both mentally and physically, is very important. Over time

The Effects Of Tactile Communication On The Human Resource...
One type of nonverbal communication is haptics. Haptics refers to the study of communication by
touch (Anonymous, 2012). According to Anonymous, 2012, touch is necessary for human social
development, and it can be welcoming, threatening, or persuasive. The meaning of a simple touch
differs between individuals, genders, and cultures. It is important for the Human Resource Manager
(HRM) to recognize these differences in order to improve communication and be effective in the
workplace. Tactile communication can help or hinder business and employee interactions. A firm
handshake might be interpreted as confidence or credibility while other physical touches such as
lingering touch on the shoulder, might be seen as being intimate (Anonymous, 2012). However, a pat
on the shoulder or arm might help initiate interactions and show inclusion and respect. Proper
knowledge of tactile differences among employees have important implications on how interactions
unfold and relationships established.
The implications of tactile communication or touch is important to know not only as a HRM but as an
employee working in a diverse workplace.
Since we communicate a great deal through touch, there are benefits by being knowledgeable about
this type of nonverbal communication and the differences among various ethnic groups. Benefits for
the HRM as well as managers include respect, trust, an effective communicator, and better employee
relationships. Additionally, understanding haptics enables

Low Voter Registration
One of the primary causes for low voter turnout in the United States is low voter registration. In order
to vote in state, local, or federal elections, citizens are required to be registered by a certain date before
the election. People can register in person, by visiting a state affiliated election facility, or by mailing
their registration forms, postmarked no later than the registration date. Additionally, only 31 states
including the District of Columbia give voters the option of registering online. Considering this fact
and that we are living in an age with great technological advances, 31 states is far too few. Hence,
New York s inability to modernize voter registration and reach out to new voters effectively lowers the
number of registered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bad news is that all of these policies need to be approved by the state legislature which
notoriously has had a track a record for stalling and not allowing many of these changes to be
implemented. For instance, in 2014 the Democrat controlled State Assembly passed legislation that
would establish 2 weeks of early voting, but the Republican controlled State Senate blocked the
legislation from passing. Similarly, the battle for same day registration in the state legislature has been
ongoing since 1988, when current Governor Andrew Cuomo s father, Mario Cuomo was the Governor
of New York and had suggested making registration deadlines as late as possible. He had also
appointed a special task force to study voter turnout and come up with a solution to resolve low voter
turnout. The special task force ultimately proposed implementing same day registration to the state
legislature. The existing power struggle between Democrats and Republicans in the state government
have made it all, but impossible for voter registration reform. However, New York s future looks
bright as there are more and more state officials speaking up and getting on board with many of the
proposed registration

Differential Effects of American Destabilization Policy in Chile in the 1970s and Cuba in the 1990s
Just three years after taking office in 1970, Chile s military removed the leftist President Salvador
Allende from power. In Cuba, nearly forty years after his ascension to power in 1959, Fidel Castro
continues to control a communist regime. In Chile in the early 1970s and in Cuba in the early 1990s,
the United States exasperated severe economic crises. In addition, the United States attempted to
foster political opposition to create coup climates to overthrow both leaders. The similarities in these

businesses created two thirds of the $1.6 in foreign investment, and two U.S. copper corporations
alone controlled 80 percent of the Chilean copper industry. Under their destabilization strategy, the
U.S. undertook economic measures designed to make the Chilean economy scream. The Nixon
administration sought to terminate and reduce financing for U.S. exports and guarantees for corporate
investment, lobby private investors to curb economic interests, bring maximum feasible influence on
the multilateral banks to cut their lending to Chile, terminate bilateral economic aid programs, and
dump U.S. copper holdings onto the international market, and lower prices. In addition to
implementing direct economic measures, the Nixon administration also used its influence to affect the
policies of international economic players. For example, US officials worked behind the scenes to
assure that the World Bank denied 21 million livestock improvement credit and future loans to Chile.
The U.S. also blocked negotiations, and putting pressure against Chile in the Paris Club debt
negotiations regarding the $1 billion debt that the Frei government had run up in U.S. banks. In sum,
these policies were effective. In 1970, loans to Chile were cut from $46 million to $2 million by the
IDB, $31 million to $0 by thy World Bank, $110 million to $3 million in bilateral U.S. assistance by
the AID, and $280 million to $0 by the Export Import bank.

1.1 INTRODUCTION
Resistance training has become one of most popular physical activities for increasing muscular
strength, endurance, hypertrophy and muscular power (American College of Sports Medicine, 2002).
Resistance training can be done either in the gymnasium or outside the gymnasium using the weight,
barbell, dumbbell, machine exercise, fit ball or body weight using the variables that needed. When
designing resistance training programs, many variables such as intensity, volume, frequency,
repetition, and velocity and rest interval must be considered as all these variable can be manipulated to

result in overtraining syndrome. Robinson, stone, Johnson, Penland, Warren and Lewis (1995) stated
in their study that, the 3 minute rest interval led to greater strength increase because of the ability to
maintain a higher training intensity and it demonstrated that greater muscular recovery via longer rest
interval between sets is the key to greater strength increases. If the training goal is maximal strength
development, sufficient of rest interval between sets must be included in the resistance training to get

Men In The Elizabethan Era
The high class people of the Elizabethan era were borderline obsessed with their appearance. These
nobles would go to almost any length to ensure that they looked impeccable according to the social
standards. Nothing was too extreme because in their eyes, the gain outweighed the loss. Men and
women of the Elizabethan era would do almost anything to distinguish their class.
Both men and women wanted to be in the height of fashion, especially when it came to hair. Noble
men would also dress just as extravagantly as their female counterparts. This is contrary to modern
times, as today s men tend to not spend as much time and money as women on appearance. To the
people of the Elizabethan era, beauty was everything. Anything or anyone ugly was inferior.

Compare Eisenhower And Truman At War
Both men, Eisenhower and Truman, reaffirmed that nothing in the coming campaign could damage
their friendship, but that very quickly fell apart. After various misunderstandings, the ultimate fall out
for the pair revolved around two men, Joe McCarthy, a scoundrel both men abhorred, and George
Marshall, a statesman both men widely respected. This disagreement about these two men was the
great divider that set Eisenhower and Truman at war. Only after many years once Eisenhower was out
of the office would the two rekindle their friendship. The duo faced many political and personal
problems that led to their untimely deterioration. The first setback for the pair was during Eisenhower
s acceptance speech at the Republican convention. He pointed fingers at the democratic party and said
its office and administration was wasteful, arrogant, and corrupt. Although Truman has before said It s

A Brief Note On Colorectal Cancer And Cancer
Colorectal cancer is one of the global leading diseases and it is the third most common causes of death
in both men and women in America. Approximately 1 in 12 Australians will develop colorectal cancer
in their lifetime, and according to Bowel Cancer Australia, individuals are at risk if they are aged 50
years and over, have had an inflammatory colorectal disease or significant family history of colorectal
cancer polyps.
Although there are various treatments for colorectal cancer, complications may arise. Post infection
caused by surgical damage to the mucosa of the intestine may occur. Furthermore, a previous study
indicated that although some chemotherapy regiment, such as FOLFOXIRI, can produce maximal
response in decreasing tumour size at high dosage, it can also produce side effects such as neutropenia
and diarrhoea because of the high toxicity level associated with the dosage of the drugs. As a result, it
has become a necessity for researchers to trial new methods, such as combining drug regimen with
surgery, to improve clinical outcomes from treatments in patients with colorectal cancer.
It has been raised in the media that gut microbiota in individuals can provide an indication of the
development of colorectal cancer. Hence, using it as a screening method can allow early interventions
to prevent colorectal carcinoma. Although the media mentions using gut microbiota analysis as a
preventative screening method, it raises the question: What roles can gut bacteria

Relationships and Religion in The Handmaids Tale by...
In the novel The Handmaids Tale by Margaret Atwood the themes of Religion and inter human
relationships are the themes that are most evident in the text. This novel shows the possibility of the
existence of an all powerful governing system. This is portrayed through the lack of freedom for
women in society, from being revoked of their right to own any money or property, to being stripped
of their given names and acquiring names such as Offred and Ofglen, symbolizing women s
dependant existence, only being defined by the men which they belong to. This portrayal of women
demonstrates the idea that individuals are unimportant, that the goals of the society as a whole are
more pertinent. For our purposes, your feet and your hands are not ... Show more content on

Offred is a part of a society that leaves her deprived of any warm human relationship, and only
conforms to the rules set on her because she wants to survive. Having such a lack of freedom makes
her crave human affection, and she copes with this by trying to escape reality, while at the same time
avoiding the memories of the freedom she once had. Religion is an idea that is also significant in A
Season in the Life of Emmanuel by Marie Claire Blais. This theme is accompanied by hypocrisy,
abuse and the need for escape from reality. This novel tells the stories of children growing up in a
society in which their lives are not valued. The children in this society are expected to repress the
abuse inflicted on them, leaving them to deal with their demons on their own. This abuse is often
present in the church and in the reformatories that they are sent to, demonstrating the hypocrisy
present in this society. Since these children are not aided in overcoming the obstacles placed in their
lives, they search for and begin to find their own ways of escaping reality. For Jean le Maigre, who is
very sick but nonetheless is made to go to school and work the family s land, the escape is found
through the writing of stories and poems. Jean le Maigre is also a good example of the search for a
reality break in the children, along with Number 7, as they both resort to alcohol to escape from the
repression that they felt from the strict religious lifestyle they followed at

money from the IMF can be used to pay for things like food and oil if the country cannot find enough

With the signing of the IMF agreement the standard of living of many Jamaicans will be affected
during the life of the agreement. As the government continues to face economic pressure because of
the global recession and with the IMF agreements, Jamaicans will have to cut back on their spending
because of the imposition on the new taxes. When these taxes are imposed, Jamaicans can expect to
see an increase in many areas like bus fare, barber shop/salon, gas price etc. all these basic necessities
will be even harder than before to acquire. Person who has been examining their budget before will be
watching their budget even closer. With the extremely hard times that a many people are about to face,

Jesus Crucifixion
Anthony Liccione once said, Unto the Cross came death, and unto death came the Cross. This quote
relates to the poem, The Dream of The Rood because it talks about the story of how Jesus crucifixion.
In the poem states, It seemed to me that I saw a more wonderful tree lifted in the air, wound round
with light, the brightest of beams. This symbolizes that he has stumbled across the Tree of Life
mentioned in the Bible. Adam and Eve ate an apple off this tree even though God had forbidden it.
The tree the poem was glorious on one side with gems and beauty; however, the other side showed a
different face of Christ . The side of judgement and how mankind treated him and crucified him for

Christian History And The Holy Spirit Essay
Christian history is active and alive as the Holy Spirit works in and amongst the community of
Christians who comprise the Church. Similar to the recording of history in the first century by Luke in
the Acts of the Apostles, Christian history is still being written today. Specifically, as Evangelical
Christians, we write the story of history each day as we work to fulfill the Great Commission
(Matthew 28:16 20) through application of the Great Commandment (Matthew 22: 37 40). As such,
we soon realize that we are not casual observers or bystanders of history, but actual participants. In
other words, we have a responsibility to both understand and interpret the past and then apply the faith
we hold amongst the generation and peoples of the here and now.
As we obediently apply God s word to, go therefore and make disciples of all nations and to love God
and to love your neighbor as yourself, we should awaken to the key terms of all nations and your
neighbor. It is with this realization that our neighbors, in the communities in which we live, literally
represent the nations of the world. In other words, in the modern world in which we live, changes in
demographics, world events, and movements of people have literally brought the nations of the world
to our front door. As such, we have a great opportunity to open these doors, which turn opens the door
to the gospel to the nations of the world.

Traditional Approaches Of Power And Control
ARE TRADITIONAL APPROACHES TO POWER AND CONTROL RELEVANT TO
CONTEMPORARY MANAGEMENT The Oxford dictionary defines management, as the process of
dealing with or controlling things or people. Businesses have a set structure on how they operate,
however, they did not just come up with it on the spot. Many of these structures were formulated in
the past and now implement due to the fact that they work. This essay aims to explore how traditional
approaches, in relation to power and control in businesses, are applicable to businesses in the current
day and age. It talks about the responsibility of the manager to use their power to make sure that the
objectives of the organisations can be met. It will talk about what power is and what types of ... Show

He argued that managers should place emphasis on finding the best way to do a set task and then to
implement it for everyone to follow. Essentially, this would mean that the manager would be in
control of his human labour and has the necessary power to tell them what to do and how to do it. The
philosophy was that if all staff followed one way, they could be more efficient, and thus be able to get
more work done. If more work was done, then the set objectives could be achieved at a faster rate,
which, In turn, could result in positive performance of the business. This relates to Fayol s second
principle which is that the manager has the right to use their power and authority to act in a way that
ensures they are carrying out their own managerial responsibilities (Rodrigues 2011). Since power
refers to the capacity of an individual to influence others, managers would have needed to devise ways
on how to use their power to get things done. One potential way is for the manager to be highly
regarded in the organisation, meaning they are one of the best managers in the organisation. French
and Raven (1959) called this a form of expert power, where the individual has knowledge that is
valued by the business. It is believed that these individuals could have a higher influence, on others, in
the organisation than those with other forms of power (Podsakoff Schriesheim 1985). However, this

The land which made the Hajazis leaves the Arabian Desert.
This poem bears testimony to the act that Iqbal cherished feelings of love and reverence for his
motherland.
The creed element predominated Iqbal s poetry. His sojourn in Europe and his deeper insight into the
religion and philosophy of Islam convinced him of the universal spirit of Islam. His deep study of
Muslim thought and culture gave his poetry a Muslim flavor. He looked forward to Islamic fraternity
being more far reaching, in the long run, serving as a workable basis of human unity. Almost all his
poetic thoughts and themes were colored by Islamic creed.
His poetry of this period is replete with symbols drawn from the Semitic lands. There are innumerable
references in his poetry to Islamic history or religion. The word Muslim occurs quite frequently in his
writings. For example the following sample: ya: rab! dil e muslim ko woh zinda: tamanna: de,

Impact Of Technology On Society
The Impact of Technology on Society
Given that technology and technological systems are important in every culture around the world, it is
absolutely essential that they become a primary focus of study.ĀØ Rodney L. Custer, author of
Examining the Dimensions of Technology, uses this quote to describe the importance of technology
and the impact it has around the world. Technology has always been an important field of study
because of the many ways we have found to revolutionize our way of life. Lieve Van Woensel and
Geoff Archer, authors of Ten technologies which could change our lives , give some examples of how
technology has revolutionized our way of life in ways such as the ability to discover previously
unexplored places, coordinate our activities at home and in the workplace, and communicate with
each other instantaneously. These are only a few ways in which we have used technology to improve
our lives. Bill Gates, author of The Road Ahead and founder of Microsoft, says that Technology
changes will change how the world works how people connect with each other. These changes have
had a big impact on the way the world operates today. Technology has advanced more in the last 100
years than since the dawn of civilization. How has technology been able to become so developed in
such a short amount of time? To help answer that question, Justin Cook, owner of Glass City PC, says
that Key industrialists and innovators during the Industrial Revolution have laid the groundwork for
the advancements in technology that we have today. The Industrial Revolution has made rapid
advances in technology possible in such a short time period. How will technology impact our future?
To answer that question, William J. Kubitz, author of Computer Technology: A Forecast for the Future
says that Technology will only continue to improve over time. The ever increasing complexity and
lower cost of integrated circuit and computer technology will radically change our lives in the next 20
years. Future technology will drastically change our lives in many innovative and unexpected ways.
Although there are a staggering number of positive things to come from advancements in technology,
there are also a few drawbacks. According

Analysis Of Revelation By Liz Lochhead
The poem Revelation, by Liz Lochead, is a gripping story about a chance encounter that leads the
reader into a deeper understanding of the poem s underlying theme. The poem focuses on a girl who is
visiting a farm and is given the opportunity to see a bull that is kept out of sight. Lochhead manages to
grasp the reader s imagination by the use of word choice, sentence structure, imagery and
personification. This allows the reader to visualize the recurring theme of sexual awakening within the
poem. Liz Lochhead, creates a deeper understanding of the poem s theme by her word choice, which
helps explain the events leading up to the young girl s encounter with the bull. She uses the word
threshold , which describes the girl standing at the opening of the barn. The word has connotations of
a crossover from innocence to experience. At this point in time the girl is standing at the edge of
purity, about to step over to the other side revealing something unknown to her. This describes to the
reader that she has reached the stage in her life where she is ready to be exposed to her sexual
awakening and the evil that is prominent in the world. The writer then builds on this motif by the way
she structures the poem in the lead up to the girl meeting the bull. In stanza one she adds the hot reek
of him. Then he was immense . The use of the caesura adds a dramatic effect to the poem causing the
reader to pause, instilling fear. It makes the reader realise that this isn t just a chance encounter after
all, as it has a great impact on the young girl. From this one encounter the girl remembers the bull s
overwhelming smell body heat. This explains, further, that the girl is no longer at a stage of innocence.
She has been introduced to the fear and dread that surrounds her, that she was once oblivious too. The
use of imagery throughout the poem also helps the reader gain a further insight to the underlying
meaning. She uses imagery particularly well when the girl has experienced the bull. Lockheed uses the
words darkness roar to describe the bull in more detail. Although, this helps the reader create the
image of the bull, the words also portray thoughts of the dread and panic the girl has over this new

Milk is a Biographical Film, directed by Van Gus Sant, and released on October 28, 2008. It is based
on gay rights activist and politician Harvey Milk. The film starts off with an old footage of police
raiding gay bars and arresting patrons during the 50s and 60s, which is then followed by Dianne
Feinstein s announcement stating that Harvey Milk, who is played by Sean Penn, and Mayor George
Moscone, played by Victor Garber, had been assassinated. Harvey starts out in San Francisco s Castro

Roger Chillingworth In The Scarlet Letter
Altered by sin in The Scarlet Letter, evil, obsessive, and manipulative are what describe Roger
Chillingworth. From the beginning, Roger is an enigmatic yet intriguing character, knowledgeable in
medicine from his time in captivity, as well as unbeknownst to others except for the audience the wife
of Hester Prynne. Becoming eviler as the story goes on, Roger s complexion is only matched by the
devil himself, with his only goal being to pursue Dimmesdale for his (and Hester s) act of sin. Roger
stays for seven years, becoming obsessed about Dimmesdale s suffering and pain, like a leech. His
dependency proves to be his downfall, as when Dimmesdale accepts his sin to be a part of him, Roger
s life is now without purpose. These chain of events leads to the idea that Roger Chillingworth s act of
sin (revenge), as well as Hester and Dimmesdale s act of sin (passion) influence his character
development and outcome greatly in The Scarlet Letter, as he becomes psychologically more
manipulative, evil, and obsessive, and physically more sinister looking. In Puritan society, it proves

The Theory Of International Politics
Theory of international politics is a Classic because it gives a chance to recognise not just the
international system but also history and ethos in context. Gives individuals a chance to think outside
the box and perhaps understand the international state much clearer. Waltz s notes that Polarity is the
only important change in system structure that we can expect under anarchy. Waltz s theory of
international politics is proven to be an unusual powerful volume, creating new discussions and giving
new incentive to existing ones. For example, the book commenced a debate over whether state s
concerns over relative gains impeded cooperation and added momentum to the question of whether
bipolar or multipolar international systems were more war prone (Griffiths, 2007). However, a flaw is
that his theory is too reliant on material understanding of power and misses the social. On the other
hand, regardless of his dependency on material understanding, his theory is still practical and helps to
understand issues that have occurred from a neo realist perspective. To the extent that structural
realism sought to explain the cold war by referring to bipolarity , Waltz s argued that the cold war was
firmly rooted in the structure of post war international politics and will last if that structure endures
(Waltz, 1989). A downfall of waltz s ideology is that it s difficult to settle with the decline in interstate
war and the increase in multilateral co operation among state. Moreover

Psalm 146, according to many Old Testament scholars, is thought to have been written sometime

In this unique book, economist Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner, an award winning author and

economics. Economics is above all a science of measurement. It comprises an extraordinarily
powerful and ļ¬‚exible set of tools that can reliably assess a thicket of information to determine the

information about jobs and real estate and banking and investment. But the tools of economics can be
just as easily applied to subjects that are more well, more interesting. (Dubner, Levitt 11). That is
exactly what this book is all about, not just the value of money but the way resources are managed and
how different factors affect one another. In Freakonomics, Levitt and Dubner collaborate to explore
the hidden side of everything (Dubner, Levitt 1). Through this writing, the two men evaluate everyday

Global warming is a worldwide epidemic that in large part is directly caused by human activities.
NASA defines global warming as the unusually rapid increase in Earth s average surface

years, global temperatures have been rising because of the increasing amount of greenhouse gasses

Social Condition In Jane Eyre
Women were pressured to follow and obey the social conditions that were present during the Victorian
era. During the Victorian era when married, women would lose all right to their possessions and
property. Women belonged in the home and were classified as a Domestic Angel or a Fallen Woman .
The social conditions for women in the Victorian era are acknowledge and challenged by Charlotte

she portrays the different social conditions each woman faced.
Bronte depicts the ideal Victorian woman, also known as a Domestic Angel , through her description
of the character Blanche. As described by Bronte in the novel, ... the three most distinguished partly,
perhaps, because the tallest figures of the band were the Dowager Lady Ingram and her daughters,
Blanche and Mary. They were all three of the loftiest stature of women, (17). Bronte s use of words
that coincide with the idealistic version of a woman during the Victorian era describe how Blanche

most distinguished women, consisting of the loftiest stature. The ideal women during this time would

The Affordable Care Act
Policy Problem
During the botched 2010 roll out of the affordable care act, multiple veteran s agencies marched on
Washington with fears of how the Tax/Mandate would affect indigent veterans who could not afford
the penalty and could not afford secondary insurance. In their hubris, these agents pushed an agenda
that has greatly hurt the veteran population.
Prior to the affordable care act, The Veterans health administration was an organizational based health
care system. There were resources enough at that point to afford the benefits veterans had rightly
accrued with their service and sacrifice. Veterans who receive care at the VA fit into two categories.
They either are disabled from Service or they are means tested in. With the growing increase of the
Disabled population in the veteran community from the Gulf Wars, the budget has taken a strangle
hold on the VAAdministration. In an effort to still operate, Senior Officials have chosen to break
federal law because there has never been any real accountability in the bureaucracy that is the VA.
One of the VA s biggest issues right now is in regards to Quality of Care and Customer Satisfaction.
Targeted media leaks and Congressional Testimony has shown how varied the opinion of care is.

Sexuality As A Social Construct
Hannah St. Lifer
Sexuality as a Social Construct
Heternormativity is the idea that there exist two distinctive classifications of the genders, males and
females, with customary roles in society. The idea asserts that heterosexuality is the only normal
sexual orientation of people and that all sexual and marital relations must abide by this norm. Society
has adopted this belief and constructed it into a standard of life. It is normal for people to
automatically presume that most other people are heterosexual and that heterosexuality is the default
sexual preference. Thus, all other sexualities that are nonheterosexual are a deviation of the default.
Heterosexuality is the most appreciative and is the most acceptable sexuality for a man and ... Show

Monogamous, reproductive heterosexuality is also valued socially above all other forms of sexuality.
Society has constructed the belief that heterosexuality is the ideal sexual identity, and society
subsequently critiques non heterosexual identities, such as gays, bisexuals, and trans, which all fall
outside this custom.
As a consequence of society deeming heterosexuality as the ideal sexuality, sexualities that are
biologically infertile are less socially acceptable in society. Nonheterosexuals are seen as deviants and
consequently mocked and ridiculed by society. Gayle proposes that same sex relationships are
inferiors, but, stable, long term lesbian and gay couples are verging on respectability, but bar dykes
and promiscuous gay men are hovering just above the groups at the very bottom of the pyramid. For
instance, society already considers gay males to be lower on the hierarchy, but those males, which are
less masculine, are even lower on the pyramid. Society has constructed these less masculine gays to be
more gay . However, homosexual males that still obtain monogamous relationships are more
appreciated in respect to gays who are not in relationships. For example, famous gay couples such as
Ellen DeGeneres s relationship, and the gay marriage portrayed on Modern Family, are valued in
society. These are higher up on the pyramid because both gay couples are in stable relationships that

Belief in vampires has existed for thousands of year in many different cultures around the world. In original folklore and mythology, the traditional vampires tend to be inhuman and have no soul. They are truly monstrosities. They feed human?s blood in the midnight and enjoy killing people. Today?s outlook on vampires is more positive. Some modern vampires are very human and beautiful creatures. They often drink animal blood. They also regret what their clan has done in the past. They do not want to harm human. A few centuries ago, vampires drank human blood and spread plague flourished in time of disease in Eastern Europe. In 19 century, some Europeans who did not understand about disease thought that people who had serious illness became first vampire in their family (Eldridge.) Therefore, Europe people think that vampires usually attack their friends or family member. Following to Barber?s perspective, ?European folklore believed in the spirit of a dead person that return after death to haunt the living, in the form as vampire, was always the first person to die in the family? (Barber 827). In Chinese culture, vampires are living deaths that absorb energy from the moon, called Jiang Shi (Image 1). They usually hop or pop around to catch unsuspecting victims. They do not feed human blood, but they are controlled by bad priest to attack people and villages. In short, vampires have more strength than normal human beings, and they are undead. They always harm or otherwise kill people. Authors, Lindahl, Mcnamara, and Lindow, define a vampire ?is a revenant, reanimated corpse, or phantom of the recently deceased, which maintain its former, living appearance when it comes out of the grave at night to drink the blood of human? (Lindahl 424). In the Vampire book in 1998, Jocob Grimm states another definition vampires as ?dead men come back, who suck blood? (Dundes 161). • 3. Girlfight Girlfight Overcoming Gender Stereotypes It goes without saying that a person s gender, racial and social origins influence their participation in sports. Particular races and genders often dominate certain sports. African Americans, for example, tend to dominate football and basketball, while Caucasians tend to dominate ice hockey. The same holds true for gender as well. Football is an entirely male dominated sport, while horseback riding, gymnastics and figure skating are much more female oriented. How and why did these divisions come about? Determining the origin of gender goes beyond the scope of this paper, however one can speculate about how gender classifications and stereotypes affect one s role in the sports arena. The ... Diana, on the other hand, has a large, sturdy build, and a hot temper. It is Diana that defends her brother when another boxer takes advantage of him in the ring. Diana s relationship with Adrian is another form of tension between gender stereotypes in the film. Boxing is traditionally a sport where men prove their manhood. They prove that they are categorically the alpha male by defeating their opponents. Therefore, to have a woman, who should traditionally be submissive and dutiful, step up to the ring turns everything that boxing stands for upside down. Much of the movie centers on the conflicts that develop within their relationship because of this paradox. At first it seems that Adrian is completely open to Diana s boxing. However his true beliefs are challenged when he and Diana are forces to fight one another. Adrian has to struggle with his own definitions of masculinity and femininity before he can come to terms not only with Diana s boxing him, but also beating him. In effect, Diana defies everything that is traditionally identified as male and female. In the end it is not clear what happens to Diana; whether her relationship with Adrian is successful or whether her father can finally accept Diana s boxing. However one still comes away from the movie feeling that she has accomplished ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Expressionism In Edvard Munch s The Scream Looking like a scene out of a horror movie, The Scream is one of the most famous Expressionist paintings in the world. During the end of the nineteenth century, Expressionism arose as an art movement, wherein poets and artists began to use their works to express their inner feelings and emotions (Wolf). One of the influential expressionists at that period was Edvard Munch, who was a Norwegian artist and who painted The Scream in four distinct versions, from tempera to pastel to crayon (Shabi). After this painting was released, it immediately caught people s attention because Munch used exaggerated colors and simple shapes, which was not common at that time, to portray the skull like faced individual and the landscape. In addition, the painting provoked questions regarding the inspiration of Munch because the great masses were curious to know the hidden messages behind the painting. Therefore, if the audiences examine The Scream closely, they will notice Munch had utilized various art techniques to demonstrate his painting as a form of therapy that can appeal to the audiences emotions, logic, and sense of credibility. Munch used many straight and curved lines to make appeals to the audiences emotions in his painting. With the use of different lines, Munch has successfully moved his audiences attention to the skull like faced individual. In his painting, the sex of the skull like faced individual is vague because one cannot determine based on his or her appearance and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How about that half a billion cups are drank each day in the United States alone? That totals over one hundred and fifty billion cups per year (RandomFacts 1)! Most likely a very small percentage know these facts off hand. Even after being an avid coffee drinker myself for many years this is news to me as well. Just take a moment to think about how many people you see each day with a cup of coffee in their hands. It s probably a lot considering the fact that an estimated four out of five people drink coffee before starting their day (RandomFacts 1). The coffee industry is worldwide, which increases the well being of a substantial amount of individuals by providing many job opportunities. This not only increases the well being of the workers, but for their families as well. When considering health, one must consider not just physical health but mental health as well. • 9. The Effects Of Tactile Communication On The Human Resource... One type of nonverbal communication is haptics. Haptics refers to the study of communication by touch (Anonymous, 2012). According to Anonymous, 2012, touch is necessary for human social development, and it can be welcoming, threatening, or persuasive. The meaning of a simple touch differs between individuals, genders, and cultures. It is important for the Human Resource Manager (HRM) to recognize these differences in order to improve communication and be effective in the workplace. Tactile communication can help or hinder business and employee interactions. A firm handshake might be interpreted as confidence or credibility while other physical touches such as lingering touch on the shoulder, might be seen as being intimate (Anonymous, 2012). However, a pat on the shoulder or arm might help initiate interactions and show inclusion and respect. Proper knowledge of tactile differences among employees have important implications on how interactions unfold and relationships established. The implications of tactile communication or touch is important to know not only as a HRM but as an employee working in a diverse workplace. Since we communicate a great deal through touch, there are benefits by being knowledgeable about this type of nonverbal communication and the differences among various ethnic groups. Benefits for the HRM as well as managers include respect, trust, an effective communicator, and better employee relationships. Additionally, understanding haptics enables ... Similarly, the battle for same day registration in the state legislature has been ongoing since 1988, when current Governor Andrew Cuomo s father, Mario Cuomo was the Governor of New York and had suggested making registration deadlines as late as possible. He had also appointed a special task force to study voter turnout and come up with a solution to resolve low voter turnout. Approximately 1 in 12 Australians will develop colorectal cancer in their lifetime, and according to Bowel Cancer Australia, individuals are at risk if they are aged 50 years and over, have had an inflammatory colorectal disease or significant family history of colorectal cancer polyps. Furthermore, a previous study indicated that although some chemotherapy regiment, such as FOLFOXIRI, can produce maximal response in decreasing tumour size at high dosage, it can also produce side effects such as neutropenia and diarrhoea because of the high toxicity level associated with the dosage of the drugs. As a result, it has become a necessity for researchers to trial new methods, such as combining drug regimen with surgery, to improve clinical outcomes from treatments in patients with colorectal cancer. It has been raised in the media that gut microbiota in individuals can provide an indication of the development of colorectal cancer. Having such a lack of freedom makes her crave human affection, and she copes with this by trying to escape reality, while at the same time avoiding the memories of the freedom she once had. Religion is an idea that is also significant in A Season in the Life of Emmanuel by Marie Claire Blais. This theme is accompanied by hypocrisy, abuse and the need for escape from reality. This novel tells the stories of children growing up in a society in which their lives are not valued. The children in this society are expected to repress the abuse inflicted on them, leaving them to deal with their demons on their own. Similar to the recording of history in the first century by Luke in the Acts of the Apostles, Christian history is still being written today. Specifically, as Evangelical Christians, we write the story of history each day as we work to fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:16 20) through application of the Great Commandment (Matthew 22: 37 40). As such, we soon realize that we are not casual observers or bystanders of history, but actual participants. In other words, we have a responsibility to both understand and interpret the past and then apply the faith we hold amongst the generation and peoples of the here and now. As we obediently apply God s word to, go therefore and make disciples of all nations and to love God and to love your neighbor as yourself, we should awaken to the key terms of all nations and your neighbor. It is with this realization that our neighbors, in the communities in which we live, literally represent the nations of the world. In other words, in the modern world in which we live, changes in demographics, world events, and movements of people have literally brought the nations of the world to our front door. Businesses have a set structure on how they operate, however, they did not just come up with it on the spot. Many of these structures were formulated in the past and now implement due to the fact that they work. This essay aims to explore how traditional approaches, in relation to power and control in businesses, are applicable to businesses in the current day and age. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He argued that managers should place emphasis on finding the best way to do a set task and then to implement it for everyone to follow. Essentially, this would mean that the manager would be in control of his human labour and has the necessary power to tell them what to do and how to do it. The philosophy was that if all staff followed one way, they could be more efficient, and thus be able to get more work done. If more work was done, then the set objectives could be achieved at a faster rate, which, In turn, could result in positive performance of the business. This relates to Fayol s second principle which is that the manager has the right to use their power and authority to act in a way that ensures they are carrying out their own managerial responsibilities (Rodrigues 2011). Since power refers to the capacity of an individual to influence others, managers would have needed to devise ways on how to use their power to get things done. One potential way is for the manager to be highly regarded in the organisation, meaning they are one of the best managers in the organisation. French and Raven (1959) called this a form of expert power, where the individual has knowledge that is valued by the business. It is believed that these individuals could have a higher influence, on others, in the organisation than those with other forms of power (Podsakoff Schriesheim 1985). However, this does not mean ... His sojourn in Europe and his deeper insight into the religion and philosophy of Islam convinced him of the universal spirit of Islam. His deep study of Muslim thought and culture gave his poetry a Muslim flavor. • 31. Analysis Of Revelation By Liz Lochhead The poem Revelation, by Liz Lochead, is a gripping story about a chance encounter that leads the reader into a deeper understanding of the poem s underlying theme. The poem focuses on a girl who is visiting a farm and is given the opportunity to see a bull that is kept out of sight. Lochhead manages to grasp the reader s imagination by the use of word choice, sentence structure, imagery and personification. This allows the reader to visualize the recurring theme of sexual awakening within the poem. Liz Lochhead, creates a deeper understanding of the poem s theme by her word choice, which helps explain the events leading up to the young girl s encounter with the bull. She uses the word threshold , which describes the girl standing at the opening of the barn. The word has connotations of a crossover from innocence to experience. At this point in time the girl is standing at the edge of purity, about to step over to the other side revealing something unknown to her. This describes to the reader that she has reached the stage in her life where she is ready to be exposed to her sexual awakening and the evil that is prominent in the world. The writer then builds on this motif by the way she structures the poem in the lead up to the girl meeting the bull. In stanza one she adds the hot reek of him. Then he was immense . The use of the caesura adds a dramatic effect to the poem causing the reader to pause, instilling fear. It makes the reader realise that this isn t just a chance encounter after all, as it has a great impact on the young girl. From this one encounter the girl remembers the bull s overwhelming smell body heat. This explains, further, that the girl is no longer at a stage of innocence. She has been introduced to the fear and dread that surrounds her, that she was once oblivious too. The use of imagery throughout the poem also helps the reader gain a further insight to the underlying meaning. She uses imagery particularly well when the girl has experienced the bull. Lockheed uses the words darkness roar to describe the bull in more detail. Although, this helps the reader create the image of the bull, the words also portray thoughts of the dread and panic the girl has over this new chapter ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Theory Of International Politics Theory of international politics is a Classic because it gives a chance to recognise not just the international system but also history and ethos in context. Gives individuals a chance to think outside the box and perhaps understand the international state much clearer. Waltz s notes that Polarity is the only important change in system structure that we can expect under anarchy. Waltz s theory of international politics is proven to be an unusual powerful volume, creating new discussions and giving new incentive to existing ones. For example, the book commenced a debate over whether state s concerns over relative gains impeded cooperation and added momentum to the question of whether bipolar or multipolar international systems were more war prone (Griffiths, 2007). However, a flaw is that his theory is too reliant on material understanding of power and misses the social. On the other hand, regardless of his dependency on material understanding, his theory is still practical and helps to understand issues that have occurred from a neo realist perspective. To the extent that structural realism sought to explain the cold war by referring to bipolarity , Waltz s argued that the cold war was firmly rooted in the structure of post war international politics and will last if that structure endures (Waltz, 1989). A downfall of waltz s ideology is that it s difficult to settle with the decline in interstate war and the increase in multilateral co operation among state. Moreover ... They either are disabled from Service or they are means tested in. With the growing increase of the Disabled population in the veteran community from the Gulf Wars, the budget has taken a strangle hold on the VAAdministration. Society has adopted this belief and constructed it into a standard of life. It is normal for people to automatically presume that most other people are heterosexual and that heterosexuality is the default sexual preference. Thus, all other sexualities that are nonheterosexual are a deviation of the default. Heterosexuality is the most appreciative and is the most acceptable sexuality for a man and ... Society has constructed the belief that heterosexuality is the ideal sexual identity, and society subsequently critiques non heterosexual identities, such as gays, bisexuals, and trans, which all fall outside this custom. As a consequence of society deeming heterosexuality as the ideal sexuality, sexualities that are biologically infertile are less socially acceptable in society. Nonheterosexuals are seen as deviants and consequently mocked and ridiculed by society. Gayle proposes that same sex relationships are inferiors, but, stable, long term lesbian and gay couples are verging on respectability, but bar dykes and promiscuous gay men are hovering just above the groups at the very bottom of the pyramid. For instance, society already considers gay males to be lower on the hierarchy, but those males, which are less masculine, are even lower on the pyramid. Society has constructed these less masculine gays to be more gay . However, homosexual males that still obtain monogamous relationships are more appreciated in respect to gays who are not in relationships. For example, famous gay couples such as Ellen DeGeneres s relationship, and the gay marriage portrayed on Modern Family, are valued in society. These are higher up on the pyramid because both gay couples are in stable relationships that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
