2. What is author s purpose for writing the book? Write a paragraph summarizing the main argument
or purpose.
In this unique book, economist Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner, an award winning author and
journalist team up to create a powerful and freakish work that challenges the typical rules of
economics. Economics is above all a science of measurement. It comprises an extraordinarily
powerful and ﬂexible set of tools that can reliably assess a thicket of information to determine the
effect of any one factor, or even the whole effect. That s what the economy is, after all: a thicket of
information about jobs and real estate and banking and investment. But the tools of economics can be

The twin girls go out for a bike ride one hot day to get some ice cream. This is were the tragedies take
place. The boy in the ice cream truck, Roger Whipple, lures them back to his house and kills them. So
in a way, the title heat is very important because this lets us know why Rhea and Rhoda are going
there in the first place, and lets us know more about the two characters better as a whole. This is better

He is someone people would never guess to kill two girls, but the story gives us the perspective of
knowing he could be capable of it. The tension grows through out the story, and I believe that it is
never relieved.
Certain parts of the tension are, but the one main question is never answered. The tension builds when
one of the sisters goes up to the room alone, and we know that the one left on the stairs becomes
aware that something isn t right. Right at this point we want to know what is going on in the room, and
sooner or later we re going to find out.
Once Rhea doesn t come down from the room for quite some time, Rhoda follows checking up on her
sister, and looking forward to find out what is going on in there. Once she is in the room, we notice
that things aren t right, and Roger is the one who kills the two girls. We know that the Rhoda bumps
into her twin Rhea wrapped up in the bed clothes, however we never find out how he killed them. This
part of the story bugs me because it is something that I wanted to know, and
Joyce Oates builds up. I don t think that a writer should build something up so much and never relieve
it. This takes away from the story for me. However, others may think that this is what makes it. I
would have liked the story that much more if I would have been able to find this out. The problem that
I have with this is that Roger s room is described as empty and lonely. Yes, he would be capable of

Social Condition In Jane Eyre
Women were pressured to follow and obey the social conditions that were present during the Victorian
era. During the Victorian era when married, women would lose all right to their possessions and
property. Women belonged in the home and were classified as a Domestic Angel or a Fallen Woman .
The social conditions for women in the Victorian era are acknowledge and challenged by Charlotte
Bronte in her novel Jane Eyre. Through Bronte s use of characters such as Blanche, Bertha, and Jane
she portrays the different social conditions each woman faced.
Bronte depicts the ideal Victorian woman, also known as a Domestic Angel , through her description
of the character Blanche. As described by Bronte in the novel, ... the three most distinguished partly,
perhaps, because the tallest figures of the band were the Dowager Lady Ingram and her daughters,
Blanche and Mary. They were all three of the loftiest stature of women, (17). Bronte s use of words
that coincide with the idealistic version of a woman during the Victorian era describe how Blanche
and her family were perceived by the other characters in the novel. Bronte describes Blanche as the
most distinguished women, consisting of the loftiest stature. The ideal women during this time would

During the botched 2010 roll out of the affordable care act, multiple veteran s agencies marched on
Washington with fears of how the Tax/Mandate would affect indigent veterans who could not afford
the penalty and could not afford secondary insurance. In their hubris, these agents pushed an agenda
that has greatly hurt the veteran population.
Prior to the affordable care act, The Veterans health administration was an organizational based health
care system. There were resources enough at that point to afford the benefits veterans had rightly
accrued with their service and sacrifice. Veterans who receive care at the VA fit into two categories.
They either are disabled from Service or they are means tested in. With the growing increase of the
Disabled population in the veteran community from the Gulf Wars, the budget has taken a strangle
hold on the VAAdministration. In an effort to still operate, Senior Officials have chosen to break
federal law because there has never been any real accountability in the bureaucracy that is the VA.
One of the VA s biggest issues right now is in regards to Quality of Care and Customer Satisfaction.

Heternormativity is the idea that there exist two distinctive classifications of the genders, males and
females, with customary roles in society. The idea asserts that heterosexuality is the only normal
sexual orientation of people and that all sexual and marital relations must abide by this norm. Society
has adopted this belief and constructed it into a standard of life. It is normal for people to
automatically presume that most other people are heterosexual and that heterosexuality is the default
sexual preference. Thus, all other sexualities that are nonheterosexual are a deviation of the default.
