School Support System

Main differences
 In Norway schools have a psychologist who
advises students, parents and teachers for
several problems which they have to deal
with.
 In Greece there is not a psychologist in
schools. Some of them have a psychologist as
a part of a pilot programme.
 In Norway there is a career counsellor who
informs students about their professional
perspectives.
 In Greece school career counselling is a part
of a lesson and it is being taught as a part of
school curriculum.
 In Norway there is the Educational and
Psychological Counselling Service (PPT). PPT is
a municipal or county municipal advisory and
guidance service. Its intention is to aid
children, adolescents and adults who are
experiencing development difficulties or
having difficulties related to education.
 In Greece the school itself has to face the
problems of the students cooperating with
counselling services.
 Is it applied at all schools in the region or was it
a school initiative?
All schools
 Do students seem to like this practice?
Students like this practice because they can talk
about all their problems
 Do teachers think that it is a good practice?
Yes, it helps them to face and solve the problems
they experience with their students
 What are the benefits?
 Cooperation, creation of mutual understanding
 Every greek school should have a
psychologist
 Parents and students must be more tolerant
with the idea of psychological support
 Is it applied at all schools in the region or was it
a school initiative?
All schools
 Do students seem to like this practice?
Yes, because they can be informed about their
professional future
 Do teachers think that it is a good practice?
Yes, because they believe that students have an
official informing about their future career
 What are the benefits?
Students feel safe having this career counselling
 In greek schools some more educated
teachers with reduced working hours could
have the role of career counsellor
 Is it applied at all schools in the region or was it
a school initiative?
All schools
 Do students seem to like this practice?
Yes, because the contact with the service will
help them to solve their problems
 Do teachers think that it is a good practice?
Yes, because the service provides guidance and
counselling about several issues
 What are the benefits?
Information, guidance, safety, confidentiality
 The creation of a public service as PPT which
will assist schools to organize learning in
better ways to help pupils. It will also provide
guidance and counselling about several
school problems (general learning difficulties
or problems in a specific subject area)

  • 2. http://arbere.eu/schoolsupportsystem Main differences  In Norway schools have a psychologist who advises students, parents and teachers for several problems which they have to deal with.  In Greece there is not a psychologist in schools. Some of them have a psychologist as a part of a pilot programme.
  • 3.  In Norway there is a career counsellor who informs students about their professional perspectives.  In Greece school career counselling is a part of a lesson and it is being taught as a part of school curriculum.
  • 4.  In Norway there is the Educational and Psychological Counselling Service (PPT). PPT is a municipal or county municipal advisory and guidance service. Its intention is to aid children, adolescents and adults who are experiencing development difficulties or having difficulties related to education.  In Greece the school itself has to face the problems of the students cooperating with counselling services.

Students like this practice because they can talk about all their problems  Do teachers think that it is a good practice? Yes, it helps them to face and solve the problems they experience with their students  What are the benefits?  Cooperation, creation of mutual understanding

Yes, because they believe that students have an official informing about their future career  What are the benefits? Students feel safe having this career counselling
  • 8.  In greek schools some more educated teachers with reduced working hours could have the role of career counsellor
  • 9.  Is it applied at all schools in the region or was it a school initiative? All schools  Do students seem to like this practice? Yes, because the contact with the service will help them to solve their problems  Do teachers think that it is a good practice? Yes, because the service provides guidance and counselling about several issues  What are the benefits? Information, guidance, safety, confidentiality
  • 10.  The creation of a public service as PPT which will assist schools to organize learning in better ways to help pupils. It will also provide guidance and counselling about several school problems (general learning difficulties or problems in a specific subject area)
