Creating Documentation With A Wiki: The DITA Storm ProjectScott Abel
Presented at DocTrain East 2007 by Alex Karesin -- Wiki-based content authoring is gaining momentum. This simple concept provides exceptional convenience and ease of use for the editors. Ironically, benefits of free-style editing prevent it from penetrating into enterprise environments with stricter content structure and reusability requirements offered by, for example, DITA XML standard. How do you combine convenience of free style writing and advantages of structured, reusable DITA content? The concept of DITA wiki is designed to satisfy both. Alex Karezin shares his experience of creating and adopting DITA content management system that was built by integrating web-based DITA XML editor into wiki and generic CMS.
We will look at wiki platforms from structured authoring perspective; identify suitable candidates, highlight their advantages, review different levels of DITA-wiki integration and summarize efforts required to achieve it. Lastly we will address data migration, survey user experience and draw conclusions.

Flink's Journey from Academia to the ASFFabian Hueske
Apache Flink is a project with a very active, supportive, and continuously growing community. Last year, Flink was among the top ten projects of the Apache Software Foundation with the most traffic on user and development mailing lists. Looking back, Flink started as a research prototype developed by three PhD students at TU Berlin in 2009. In 2014, the developers donated the code base to the ASF and joined the newly founded Apache Flink incubator project. Within three years, Flink grew into a healthy project and gained a lot of momentum.
In my presentation, I will discuss Flink's journey from an academic research project to one of the most active projects of the Apache Software Foundation. I will talk about the academic roots of the project, how the original developers got introduced to the ASF, Flink's incubation phase, and how its community evolved after it graduated and became an ASF top-level project. My talk will focus on the decisions, efforts, and circumstances that helped to grow a vital and welcoming open source community.

The European Collaboration continues – a progress reportLetsConnect
Earlier this year we went live with a collaboration platform for a European insurance conglomerate. We moved from an antiquated chat server and different IBM Notes databases to a fully integrated platform with IBM Sametime, IBM Connections and IBM Notes/Domino and XPages applications. To top it all up, we customised the user experience with a design partner to create a unique collaboration platform.
We’ll talk about the starting point, the pitfalls, the successful results, how the platform is used now and what the plans for the next phase are. We’ll also talk about low hanging fruits, user feedback and share the learnings.

Lean EAM with the Microservices Add-on and the Signavio IntegrationLeanIX GmbH
Presentation by Thorsten Düvelmeyer, Solution Architect at Hermes at EA Connect Days 2018 in Bonn. Hermes started visualizing their IT landscape in LeanIX with the goal of breaking up silos and supporting a collaborative approach on optimization of their application portofolio.
To have a wider level of informationen they decided to include processses and microservices within their data and visualizations: both delivered by standard integrations.
One of the key benefits of lightweight DITA is that it frees the value points of DITA from a strict dependency on the XML format. You can author valid lightweight DITA content in multiple formats, including markdown and HTML5.
These slides, developed by Michael Priestley, Jenifer Schlotfeldt, and Carlos Evia, accompanied a demonstration of how lightweight topics of various content types can be created in XML, markdown, and HTML5, while continuing to make use of standard DITA features such as content reuse and conditional processing and flowing into a common published deliverable, such as an HTML web site, PDF, or EPUB.

Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.
Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck

Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.
